the problem with all these white authors like rick riordan who are revealing their stances on the israel-palestine apartheid is that they barely do anything but virtue signal when they claim “i’m on the side against war” “i’m anti-violence” “i abhor terrorism.” zero people are going to disagree with you. zero people believe what hamas did is justified. zero people think israel shouldn’t have a right to defend itself against terrorism. but that isn’t what israel is doing when they collectively punish all of palestine, who doesn’t even have an official army. when rick riordan says some wishy-washy bullshit about the violence suffered on both sides of the conflict, and words his whole dumbass blog post like it’s violence that is in any way equal, that literally helps no one. in fact, it’s so damn negligent of the 75 years of violence that palestine has suffered and been oppressed for. yes, there are innocent civilians in israel who are suffering, no one is disagreeing with you. that doesn’t erase the fact that israel is a disgusting state that has used state-sanctioned violence on a systemic scale since its conception, and the oppressed people have responded to that in violent retaliation (because OBVIOUSLY they would). israel is built on the subjugation of palestine, there is no equal suffering between the two.

getting secondhand appliances etc in 2024 is a weird experience. why is this so high-tech. why does this dryer have a gazillion preset options and why can't I just set the temperature and time myself. it sings a little song when it's done. what is happening. how is this a second-hand cheap item we were able to afford. we got a fridge for only $200 that looks, like, actually nice. it's nice and it doesn't smell funny and it has a water filter?? the ice dispenser is broken but what do you mean, there's an ice dispenser. excuse me that is a luxury level amount of fridge technology. excuse me? These are the cheap castoffs sold for cheap to us peasants? Excuse me? I shudder to think how advanced brand-new appliances are nowadays. It frightens me. Our "new" car that we got last year is a similar phenomenon. It's so fancy. It has a Bluetooth speaker. It has a little light on the dashboard to tell you when your gas mileage is eco-friendly, whatever that fucking means for a car. It's ten years old. I think mentally I'm still an 18 year old in 2010. What do you mean technology has advanced this much in the past 14 years. That scares me. Cut it out. I have been trying to get this load of laundry dry for five hours now because the singing Jetsons ass dryer is my newest sworn enemy.

when grant wants to feel something, he'll watch videos of the curiosity rover on mars singing happy birthday to itself 🎂 it's so incredibly sad but cute to him, so it immediately turns on the waterworks lolol 🥲

objectively, grant is NOT a car guy; he's 110% an airplane guy. however, he owns a car that makes him look like a car guy and gets him approached ALL THE TIME by people who want to talk cars. it's a 1960 ford galaxie and it looks like this, except i think it would be a nice shade of light, almost minty green or maybe blue (no, i haven't decided, and probably won't because there's no cc version of this car for the sims 4, so we'll never see it lol) 💚💙

why is that his car? 🚗 well, it was his grandparents' car, which he bought off them when they wanted to replace it; they have never had a garage or a carport in their entire life, so the car was exposed to the elements for fifty years, and it was, thus, fucked up. they were also tired of fixing it. however, it's a sentimental car because aoife and joseph met working on the same production line at a ford auto factory, and this car was the first one they bought as a couple in their marriage (even though aoife ironically does not know how to drive lmao). they wanted it gone but also didn't, you know, so grant bought it because he also didn't want to see it gone; he'd spent his whole life sandwiching into that backseat with 8 billion of his cousins. oh, aaandddd he bought it even though the necessary repairs were extensive, which he did all by himself with help from his grandparents and uncle (aka people who know shit about cars)

a shorter fun fact: he smokes luckies 🫢

grant has been on TV before! it was very brief, for like five seconds, but he was interviewed by his hometown news station after his high school hockey team won the state championship game one year and he was granted the MVP title. he was very nervous, and his friends ended up nicknaming him "mr. team effort" because his entire interview was him just saying things like, "oh, um, well, it was a team effort, and we worked really hard...together...as a team..."

I thought I posted this a couple months ago but I guess not? I sewed a piece of t-shirt fabric onto the inside of one of my pyjama shirts where the embroidered logo was starting to tear a hole in the shirt.

It seems to be holding well after a few wears. A woven fabric probably would have been more stabilizing, but I wanted it to be comfy and low-effort, so I didn't want raw edges I had to fold under.
