Summer of Strawberry Shortcake: Seaberry Beach Party

And so we come to the last DVD of season two, which was actually the third one released for some reason. Due to this discrepancy, the DVD has both the music video and character profiles that have been missing from the past few DVDs. Which begs the question, does this DVD have those features because it was released early, or was it released early because it had those features, and DiC/AGP didn't want to confuse anyone by the lack of consistency? I suspect it's the former, but you never know.

At any rate, it makes no sense to release these episodes as early as they did, since they prominently feature Blueberry Muffin and Rainbow Sherbet who not only hadn't appeared yet, but also both got full episodes dedicated to their arrivals in Strawberryland. It would be one thing if they were like Peppermint Fizz, who was added to the cast as a character who already lived in Strawberryland, we just hadn't seen her yet. But no, for these two, season two has a definite chronological order. And you can't even say that this DVD came out when it did because these are summery episodes because it came out in February! Not even close to summertime.

As for the episodes themselves, The Mystery of Seaberry Beach is the better of the two, as the mystery keeps things moving, and Coco Calypso is a fun character. Legend of the Hidden Treasure has mermaidic appeal, but it is painfully slow. The sea beast is a fun villain, but that's about it. It's a shame, too, since this ep is technically the season finale. Not the strongest note to go out on.

Just one tidbit from the script this time: the sea sweetie's burbling is described as "talking in bubble-speak."

The feature's main plot line involves Strawberry Shortcake telling her friends all about her adventures on Seaberry Beach, along with her accompanying friends Blueberry Muffin and Rainbow Sherbet. During her stay, she meets brand new friends, including her long-writing pen pal and beach friend Coco Calypso who is the reason for her trip as well as solves new mysteries and even hears of a magical mermaid story from a new and mysterious friend from the lagoon!

1: This is our brand new lesbian national anthem-

2: Actually come to think of it, EVERYONE in this video had Lesbian energy. Look at Rainbow Sherbet and Blueberry Muffin!

3: Usually back in seasons 1 and 2 of the series on DVD, there were bonus features where viewers got a video tour of certain locations featured complete with TONS of really cool and aesthetically pleasing background art. I think this DVD has probably my favourite of these. They are so colourful and really makes me think of when I used to enjoy my holidays-

While checking out the 2003 series, I noticed how many characters wound up getting introduced and the clear change in outfits. I want to learn a bit more about these characters and the show’s world but I haven’t had a lot of time lately. Could you recommend me a list of episodes to watch from here to skip “filler”?

The thing to keep in mind about the 2003 series is that it was made first and foremost to sell DVDs, so each season has episodes in twos on a theme. Also, since the series isn't exactly story-based, you could say that whole thing is filler. But it sounds like you're most interested in the characters being introduced, so here's a list of episodes and the characters that debut in them:

Neck and Shoulder Relief  15 Minutes this is a good one for when you’re very stressed out or carrying a lot of tension in your upper body. it is very easy on joints and good for beginners. it’s all done sitting down. +10 points bc her pants match her dog

Bedtime  20 Minutes i do this every night before bed, it centers around slowing down the mind and body, releasing all of the tension from the day. you can actually do this one in your bed.

For Anxiety  20 Minutes i do this one in the evenings a lot since most of my anxiety stems from  nighttime, she talks about a breathing technique in the video that helps with panic attacks 

Self Care  10 Minutes this one is a little more advanced than the others. it’s only ten minutes, you spend a lot of time hugging yourself so that's nice

Trauma  40 Minutes i’ve only done this one a couple of times since i took up yoga again. it involves a lot more movement. +10 points again bc her dog shows up halfway through and lays on the mat, it’s vvv cute
