Levi shrugs. "I don't know. Everyone thinks I should be doing general, or pediatrics, but I want trauma. I want to be the first line of care for those who are in desperate need. You never know what is going to come through those ER doors, and I think that is what draws me to it. It's the excitement, the fear, the rush of it all."
"Huh," Nico hums. "I can see you in trauma. I think you'll be amazing. I know you'll be amazing."

SEASON FINALE - SPOILERS
Wow, this was one hell of an emotional rollercoaster for me. So, yeah, let us get started.
The song at the beginning was a big slap in the face. A massive fuck you. That song makes me so emotional and they used it against me.
Honesty thought Owen was probably gonna get hit by another car or something in that pile-up. Eh.
Levi singing to the patient to keep her calm? My god, he is literally the sweetest fucking thing. I love him. I really do.
Teddy in labor, I never thought it would ever happen. This is amazing.
Don't really care about Jackson or Maggie tbh. Boring.
Jo working even though she doesn't feel good? She's a trooper. She really is.
Link telling Nico he has a new job for him, getting slightly frustrated with him when Nico makes some comments? Needed. Thank you, Link. Sort little grumpy pants out.
I really like Gus' patient storyline, not gonna lie.
Owen getting Levi and the patient into an ambulance to get them to the hospital was kind of genius, won't lie. Quick thinking.
Was Francis/Frances (however you spell her name) sat on Levi's lap? That was kinda cute, bless him.
Just Levi, tbh. Yeah.
Nico is a lil grump. Him being with that patient who was paralyzed was probably an eye opener for him. He's struggling. You can tell. Bless his heart.
He wants to celebrate, I know he does, but he isn't letting himself do that.
Teddy and Amelia in the cop car. Mood.
Teddy yelling at Owen (for obvious reasons, lol) as soon as shes out the car? Big mood again.
Levi bringing the donor cookies and juice was so adorable. He's so good with patients. I love him.
This whole insurance thing confuses me.
Nico when he rushes after Levi, ow, my heart.
When he says "I miss you", good lord. The tears. The tEARS.
When Levi's voice faltered as he spoke to Nico because he was getting emotional- oh my god. My heart shattered.
Levi explaining himself, though. Oof.
Levi's self-confidence when explaining himself though. Wow. I love him.
Oh god, when Nico starts to talk but it's only a whisper. Damn. Don't play with me like this.
LITTLE NICO MONOLOGUE. CALLED IT. NEEDED IT. YES.
The way he delivers it though- God, it's perfect. It made me cry.
That scene was enough to fuel me for several years.
Would have been the perfect moment for a hug though, just saying-
Blah blah blah, they save Gus, Teddy has her baby- which I must say, I'm surprised doesn't look like a straight up two-year-old, considering how long her fucking pregnancy was lol- more stuff that I don't really care about.
OH MY GOD SOMEONE TELL TOM ABOUT TEDDY. PLEASE. DON'T HURT HIM. DON'T. THIS IS NOT FAIR AT ALL.
Nico and Levi watching a film in Levi's room- and a film which makes me fucking sob too- I never knew I needed this until now.
LEVI'S MOM IS EXACTLY HOW I PICTURED HER I AM SHOOK.
She's so cute I need more mama Schmitt please. Please. P l e a s e.
Mama Schmitt!!!! Is !!!! The !!!! Cutest !!!!
Levi coming out to his mom, oh my god. My heart. He looks so terrified. Nico looks so proud. Mama Schmitt seems shocked but like... also, not? I don't know how to explain it.
Nico crying. Fuck me. I said I wanted it and I got it, even if it wasn't that much. Yes. Thank you. Thank you.
When he says "you're amazing" I broke down. That was the moment I couldn't hold it in any longer.
Then when Levi cuddled up to Nico, with his head on his shoulder, and Nico rested his head against Levi's? Cinematic masterpiece. I will forgive Grey's for not giving us a Schmico hug because this was good too. I love them. So much.
Jackson is fucked.
I really enjoyed the finale. I did. I think there could have been more in certain places but I am happy about it. I'm content. I don't care what anyone else says, this finale was good. It was overall, pretty heartwarming. Besides Jackson, of course. But, oh well.
It's been a wild ride. Now, we won't have any new content till September, most likely. So, it's been good. I've been welcomed into a fandom that has been around for years, with open arms. I like it here, and I'm excited to see what is to come for all of us.
One adventure ended, but another will soon begin.

SONG LYRIC PROMPTS
Feel free to reblog this and use it for your own! I'll be reblogging this myself when I reopen my ask box to do requests! These are lyrics from the songs on my phone, so enjoy my weird and wonderful taste of music!
"Where did I go wrong?"
"I am moving on and Thank God, you let me try."
"I hope you're happy. I hope you're happy, too."
"Sometimes I wish that I could freeze the picture."
"Who wrote the book on goodbye?"
"I'll be by your side, because my love is set in stone."
"Damn right, it's better than yours!"
"What about us? What about all the times you said you had the answer?"
"Life is way too short to take it slow."
"Hate to say I've been fooled all this time."
"We don't need anything, or anyone."
"I'm tired of pretending!"
"Sit right here and don't be shy."
"Can't you hear the thunder?"
"I know that I'm gonna make mistakes."
"You don't know what you're messing with. You've got no idea."
"We're one of a kind, no category."
"So this is what goodbyes are said for?"
"I knew what love was."
"It's a crazy world, but tonight's the right situation."
"Know that love will shine through darkness."
"But if you're heart is a dog fight, then I'm ready to go to war."
"Where did we go wrong?"
"I won't give up without a fight."
"Running from something that's never enough."
"Don't cry, don't cry, don't cry..."
"Am I wrong, for thinking that we could be something for real?"
"I'm a picture-perfect face."
"You'll never find a guy like that."
"You know we've got a good thing going, and I don't want to see it end."
"It will if you don't even try."
"Oh, wait till I do what I do."
"I never really cared until I met you."
"The smallest change can make you feel alive."
"Darling, you give love a bad name."
"Losing you could be the end of me"
"But you didn't have to cut me off!"
"Just stay."
"Don't lose your head."
"That I wanna be better, not worse."
"The only one he truly loved."
"I can't afford to fake anymore."
"No one's winning when I'm pushing you away."
"Don't mind if I do."
"Love is a losing game."
"You don't have to watch your back."
"I'm a sucker for you."
"I could get used to this."
"What do you want from me?"
"I'm not afraid anymore."
"I found love where it wasn't supposed to be."
"I'd rather be me."
"I dream of what I need."
"You say you love me, but you're never there for me!"
I hope you enjoy these!! I wonder how many songs on here you can identify???

ANGST 6 !!!
6: “Forget it, you’re a fucking asshole.”
What even is this mess. I don’t know. Whoops.
-
“Forget it, you’re a fucking asshole.” Levi storms out the room, leaving Nico to his own thoughts. It was like he was fighting a losing battle because no matter how hard he tried, Levi just wouldn’t listen to him.
Now was not the time to be fighting, either. Not in the middle of an extremely stressful work day. Maybe this was just Levi getting snappy because he was stressed. It was something Nico had done- still does. So, half of him understands how Levi is feeling.
He wants to run after Levi, wants to apologize and tell him that he didn’t mean any of it. He knows he deserves it for what he said. Though, he had never meant it in a way that was meant to hurt Levi.
He just wanted to make sure Levi was safe.
It was just a week prior to this incident that Levi had told Nico that his father was coming back into town, after years of being away. His parents had split when he was just a teenager and his father knew next to nothing about Levi.
Levi had told Nico stories. He’d told him stories of his father when he was younger, how he wasn’t the nicest person. He had very strict views. Strict views about who you should and shouldn’t love. Strict views on a lot of things which could cause a lot of issues with Levi.
Eventually, Nico let out a sharp sigh, pushing himself out of the chair he was sat in to go and find Levi. There was no way he was going to let Levi get hurt. There was no way that he was going to let Levi’s father say such horrible things.
Nico jogged through the hospital halls, desperately trying to find Levi, wherever he may be. No matter where he looked, he couldn’t seem to find him.
“Hey, Nico- Woah, are you okay? Why are you so out of breath? Why do you look so panicked?” Link had to grab Nico by his arm to stop him from rushing past. Nico shakes his head to ground himself, clearing his throat as he composed himself. The look Link wears is one of complete confusion and question.
“I, uh- Have you seen Levi? I need to find him. Now.” Nico rushes out his words, unable to keep still as he keeps scanning over the halls. Link reaches out and grabs Nico’s shoulders, his fingers slightly digging in. It’s uncomfortable and makes Nico wince but it brings him back and grounds him.
“Hey, what happened?” Link asks sternly. Nico lets out a long sigh and shrugs Link’s hands from his shoulders, taking a moment to compose himself.
Nico thinks about walking away, as it really wasn’t any of Links business. Though deep down, he knows that Link could help. He could help in more ways than one.
“Levi’s dad is back. He’s back and I’m terrified that he is going to say something to Levi. Levi told me about him. That guy isn’t nice. We had a massive argument over it.”
“Right, okay. Levi is helping me, I sent him off to get the x-rays for this patient. He’s probably still there, I was just heading there myself.”
“Oh, thank god.” Nico lets out a sigh of relief before he turns on the ball of his foot, running in the opposite direction to go and find Levi before he disappears again.
-
The sound of the door being practically thrown open startles Levi, causing him to whip around to see what all the fuss was about. When he spots Nico at the door, he lets out a long sigh of relief and rests his hand over his chest.
“Jesus, Nico. You don’t have to break down the door.” Levi comments before he turns his attention back to the x-rays in front of him. Nico inhales, shuffling into the room and shutting the door behind him. His heart is pounding in his chest and his breathing is elevated from rushing around, though he tries his best not to show it.
“Levi, I-”
“Look at this. Look. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a clean break. It looks like it’s been completely sawn through!” Levi points at the x-ray, his other hand in his pocket as he stares at the picture in front of him in complete awe. Nico walks up beside him, arms crossed over his chest as he narrows his eyes a little, staring at it.
“That is pretty clean,” Nico mutters, letting out an impressed huff. He turns to look at Levi, sighing. “That isn’t what I’m here for.”
“I know. I know you’re here about my dad. I know, okay? Can you just drop it?”
“No, I’m not dropping it-”
“Do you have to be so stubborn?” Though the words were harsh, Levi’s tone wasn’t. In fact, he chuckles a little as he turns to grin at Nico, letting out a content sigh. “I’m not telling him. In all due respect, I’m not telling my dad that I’m gay. I’m not telling him about us.”
Nico can’t help the grin that spreads across his face as he leans himself against the desk placed behind him, a feeling of relief washing over him. Honestly, he never thought he’d be so happy to hear Levi say those words. Never.
“I know this sounds crazy but... I’m so happy you just told me that.”
“Huh, that is crazy. Now, I have a patient I need to go see, so,” Levi turns to face Nico, head slightly tilted to the side, a grin playing at his lips. “I will see you later.”
“You better get going then, Dr. Schmitt,” Nico says, his tone overly teasing. When he earns the reaction he wants, he smirks, all smug and proud of himself. Levi just huffs, shakes his head, his bottom lip caught between his teeth as he tries to conceal his smile.
Levi finally breaks and is unable to hold back his grin. Nico pushes himself off the table and reaches out, grabbing the collar of Levi’s white coat, tugging him closer. He leans down and presses his lips against Levi's, a swift, rushed kiss at that.
It lasts only a moment but is enough to leave Levi feeling flustered beyond belief. “I hate you so much, Nico.”
“I love you, too. Now go, Link’s waiting for you!”
Levi rolls his eyes as he lets out a breathy laugh, brushing past Nico before he could say anything else.
Though, Nico isn’t the least bit surprised when he gets a page from Levi just a mere hour later.

a series of SIX
Hello, y'all.
Yeah, that is how I'm starting this.
I've recently started writing again (big thanks to @orthoglasses and @schmicosmalec for helping me throw myself back in the deep end) and I've started a little six-part series of Schmico Fics based off of some of the songs from my favourite musical at the moment - SIX.
I'm going to try get a part of every week, if I can. Some will be long, some will be short. I already have three out - No Way, Don't Lose Ur Head, and Heart Of Stone.
You can read all of them here and as I said, I will try post something every week. Three down, three to go!
My writing is still rusty and I'm trying my best, so please excuse how bland and boring it all is.

To Approach a Stranger
"Hi, you don't know me and I don't know you, but I need you to pretend to be my boyfriend," Levi rushed out, cheeks slightly flushed, a mixture between the chilly morning air and the running he had just done. The stranger at first looked somewhat stunned, until his expression melted into a faint smirk. "The guy currently walking up behind me is my ex, so I need you to kiss me."
Levi really couldn't believe himself. Never in his life did he expect to be running up to a random stranger, asking them to kiss him because his ex was trying to talk to him. And never had he expected the stranger to be a literal walking piece of art.
Of course, Levi just had to choose the most attractive guy he had ever set his eyes on
-
Aka, Levi sees his ex in public and panics. He runs up to the nearest guy he can find, who just so happens to be Nico.
Heavily inspired by a drabble @theswiftiewholived posted recently!

A Simple Gift
Nico was so ready to get home and just collapse onto the couch. His feet were throbbing and he felt so exhausted that he could barely keep his eye open, which definitely made walking up the stairs to the apartment a lot harder. Of course, the elevator had to be broken. It had been for the past two weeks and nobody had done anything yet.
Knowing that Levi would be waiting for him gave him the push he needed to, almost quite literally, drag himself up the stairs. Knowing that soon he'd be able to climb into bed with him and just complain about the day he had seemed like actual heaven to him.
He fumbled around with his keys, letting out a frustrated sigh at the fact his hands just didn't seem to want to work. Eventually, he managed to get the key he needed. Today had just been far too stressful for him to cope with. It seemed as if the world around him was speeding past him, leaving him in the dust as he desperately tried to catch up.

Him.
Nico had never really had a favorite color. There were colors he preferred over others, but he would never say that he had just one favorite. He would never say he had a favorite sound. Some were relaxing, some were upbeat, some were just plain weird. there wasn’t just one that he could pick. There was never a feeling which could make him feel like he was on the best high of his life. Sure, saving lives and helping patients was great, but it never lasted. There was never a smell which reminded him of something he loved. Freshly cut grass, cinnamon buns, the ocean waves- they never entranced him.
He never had a favorite- until he met him.
All of a sudden, everything changed. Dark green, almost hazel, that was his favorite color. Like a forest in the evening, or the moss that covered a tree. Like the ocean after a storm, or the leaves that rested at the bottom of the tree. Like green tea or even seaweed. That was the color he enjoyed most.
The sound of laughter- not just any laughter. His laughter. The sound resonated with him, make him feel elated. From the quiet, tired chuckles to full blown laughter. The laughter that made one cry and made one’s stomach ache. His voice; the way he said certain words, how he mumbled, how he would sometimes be unable to shut up. The way he spoke about things he loved, the way he talked about things that upset him. That was a sound he could listen to forever.
Seeing him never made Nico feel so alive. Seeing him made Nico’s heart thump against his chest, his mind racing with thoughts. Watching him do the things he loved, watching him sleep, watching him perform in surgeries. The feeling of skin against skin, full of passion and heat. The gentle, subtle touches to the way his hands forever roamed Nico’s body. That’s what his favorite feeling was- that is what gave him the high he’d always searched for.
The smell of cologne, but only a certain one. His one. The scent reminded him that he was close, that someone he loved was nearby. It lingered on his clothes and the pillows that he slept on. The smell of his shampoo, how it smelt so fruity and clean. That was his favorite scent. that’s what reminded him of home.
Nico had never had a favorite anything- until he met Levi. Suddenly, the world was full of exciting colors and new things to discover. Levi Schmitt had changed how Nico perceived the world around him for the rest of time. Levi Schmitt had swept Nico straight off his feet without even realizing.
Nico was completely and utterly in love. He wouldn’t change it for the world.

When Words Fail
I wrote. I made a thing. I did it. Yeah.
Post episode 24. It has spoilers. Nico hears that Levi was in some sort of accident and freaks because he thinks Levi is dead.
It's fluff, trust me!! It has a cute ending, I think. Y'all should read it.
It sounds like I'm tricking you but I'm not, it genuinely has a happy ending. And a dramatic hug but yeah, that's not important.

8: “But I’ve never told you that before.”
-
“Levi!” Nico lets out a groan as he searches desperately through his wardrobe, wondering where on earth his jacket had gone. This was the seventh time this week already that it wasn’t in its usual spot.
Levi walks into the bedroom, happily munching away on an apple. Nico sighs out in defeat, turning his attention to Levi, who was just staring at him, brow raised in question.
“Have you seen my jacket?” Nico knows it isn’t really worth asking Levi if he knows where it is, as Levi can’t even remember where he put his phone most of the time.
Levi shakes his head as he takes another bite of his apple, his eyes scanning around the room in a lazy attempt to help Nico find it. He then lifts his shoulders in a shrug and leaves the room.
Nico huffs as he trails behind Levi, arms crossed over his chest. It was freezing in his apartment and that jacket was the only thing which could keep him warm. The heating wasn’t working either, which only made it that much colder.
“If you’ve stolen it again, you little thief-”
“Hey, I haven’t stolen it, okay?” Levi lets out a laugh as he turns to face Nico, who is pouting, just like a child who had his favorite toy taken away from him. “It’s in the wash, it’ll be done soon.”
“Why is it in the wash?” Nico questions, face twisting in confusion. Levi takes a final bite of his apple before he jogs over to the bin and dropping it in. He dusts his hands off and lets out a short sigh.
“I took it to work because I was cold and I knew it was a warm jacket. When we went on break, I didn’t feel as cold but Taryn was freezing, so I let her borrow it.”
“You let Helm borrow my jacket?” Nico scoffs out, arms folding over his chest. Thankfully, Nico sounds more amused than he does upset. Levi nods and takes a few steps closer to Nico.
“I did. It was only for a little while. I promise. You know Helm, she’s... Well, she’s Helm. So one thing lead to another and-”
“And?”
“Let me finish. One thing lead to another and she got it dirty. That is why it’s in the wash. I’m sorry, I know I should have asked to borrow it. It’s just so comfy!” Levi brings his hands up to his face, hiding his face away from Nico. Nico just lets out a low chuckle as he steps forward, reaching out to pry Levi’s hands away from his face.
A slight grin tugs at Nico’s lips as he pulls Levi in, snaking his arms around his waist, holding him close. Levi’s hands come to rest on Nico’s shoulders before they come up to link together at the nape of his neck.
“I don’t mind if you steal my clothes. I actually really like when you steal my clothes,” Nico admits, a timid laugh sounding from him. Levi’s brows raise at the revelation and he grins smugly, leaning up on his toes. “But I’ve never told you that before.”
“No, you haven’t,” Levi mutters, taking a moment to glance down at Nico’s lips. “I guess I’ll have to steal them more often, huh?”
Nico chuckles lowly and leans down, brushing his lips against Levi’s, teasing him. Levi lets out a small gasp at this, but Nico pulls back before Levi can kiss him. Levi frowns a little, eyes scanning over Nico’s face, trying to read his expression.
“What is it?”
“Just,” Nico sighs out as he slips his hands beneath Levi’s shirt, fingers brushing against warm skin. “Don’t let Taryn borrow my jacket again, please?”
“Oh, my god,” Levi grins widely at Nico before he leans up, catching his lips in a sweet kiss. The kiss only lasts for a few short moments before it ends, the two of them both smiling like idiots in love.
Because that is exactly what they were; two idiots, very much in love with one another.

angst 12!!!
12: “Why are you awake?”
Little note from me after finishing this; I don’t know what happened or why it happened, but my writing style completely changed while I wrote this. So, it’s probably bad. Ha. Whoops.
-
Levi just couldn’t sleep. No matter how hard he tries, no matter how many times he twists and turns, he can’t sleep. There is simply nothing which could help him sleep right now. Stress seemed to be a constant state which he, unfortunately, dwelled in right now.
These exams were kicking his ass, hard. The last thing which he wants is to fail. The last thing he wants is to open up that letter and see nothing but failure slapped across the paper. No matter how many times people reassured him over the past week, no matter how many times people tell him that things will be fine, he still doesn’t quite believe it.
Levi let out a heavy sigh as he flips another page in his book, stretching his arms above his head as he yawns. He picks up his phone from bedside him to check what time it was; 1am. He isn’t the least bit surprised.
The aching feeling in his back only grew with every passing moment. His eyes were heavy, though he couldn’t sleep now, not when he is so close to finishing this chapter. Just this chapter, then he could sleep.
He shifts in the chair, stretching his back out as best he could. His neck feels stiff from staring down at the book in front of him. He isn’t even sure he’s paying attention to the words on the paper anymore. They just don’t make any sense.
Levi slumps back in his chair, feeling completely defeated. Failure was just something which seems to cling onto Levi, no matter how hard he tries to shake it from himself. He wonders if it is even worth it anymore.
A faint shuffling noise sounds from the bedroom, where Nico is supposed to be sleeping. Clearly, he wasn’t anymore. Levi knew that Nico could come out and find him there, sat at the table, looking like a complete idiot.
A couple of moments later, the door clicks open to reveal a sleepy looking Nico, who wears this confused look as he glances around the room. When he finally spots Levi, his shoulders relax as he lets out a deep sigh and leans against the door frame. Levi does nothing but sinks more into the chair, hoping he could somehow disappear.
“Why are you awake?” Nico asks, voice thick with sleep. If Levi wasn’t feeling so crap right now, he might have found it attractive. Levi sighs as he leans forward, resting his arms against the edge of the table.
He shakes his head, unable to form words. He didn’t know why he was awake either. Exhaustion didn’t feel like the right word to describe how he feels. He was way past exhaustion by now.
“I was- I just-” He pauses and sucks in a sharp breath. The words were there, they just weren’t forming. “Studying.”
“Levi, you’ve done nothing but study for the past few weeks. I don’t think there has been a time in the past week where I’ve fallen asleep, or even woken up, with you next to me. I’m worried.” Nico folds his arms over his chest, brows etched together in concern as he watches Levi.
“I need to pass these exams, Nico. I can’t fail them, that is all I do and I can’t-”
“Hey, you stop that,” Nico interrupts Levi before he can ramble on anymore. Often times, when Levi was stressed or upset, he headed down this spiral of self-loathing. It was something Nico had picked up on and every time it happened, his heart broke. It pained him to hear Levi talk so badly about himself. “You are not a failure. You know that.”
Levi just sighs, hanging his head low. Neither of them says anything for a little while. It doesn’t seem right to. Instead, Nico makes his way over to where Levi is sat, pulling out the other chair at the table to sit. He reaches out his hand, resting it atop Levi’s arm, his thumb grazing against his skin.
“Look, I know these exams are important, but so is your health, both physical and mental. Taking a break isn’t going to kill you. You’re one of the smartest guys I’ve ever known, you will pass these exams, even if you don’t study. Now please, come to bed and get some rest.”
Levi forces a sad grin as he looks back up at Nico and nods, resting his hand over Nico’s. He gives it a gentle squeeze before they both get up from the table. Before they go anywhere, Nico stops and closes all of Levi’s books, neatly clearing up the scattered notes which lay across the table.
Levi watches, arms folded over his stomach as he leans himself against the wall. Sleep was finally beginning to catch up with him and with every passing moment, he finds it harder to keep his eyes open. Nico taps the paper stack in his hand against the table, placing it on top of the pile of books before he places the new pile to the side, tucked away so Levi wouldn’t have to worry about it.
After he’s done, he flicks off the little table lamp Levi had on, the room falling into darkness. Levi uses the back of his hand to rub his eyes, a desperate attempt to try and keep himself awake for just a few moments longer.
Nico returns to Levi’s side and pulls him in for a hug, something he knew Levi needed. Levi wraps his arms loosely around Nico’s waist, burying his head in Nico’s chest as he lets out a sleepy whine. It makes Nico chuckle a little as he presses a gentle kiss into Levi's hair.
Levi finally gets some sleep that night, snuggled right up into Nico’s side, as usual. He was just thankful he didn’t have to work the next day.

Special Treatment
He couldn't believe it.
Three weeks.
Three whole weeks he'd been learning and practicing for this damn surgery and now he was off of it, all because Jo asked to be on it? Levi knew it was somewhat ridiculous to be angry but he was. This surgery would have been a massive stepping stone for him in his career and now here he was, sat in one of the on-call rooms, study books placed out in front of him.
A rotationplasty is not something that happens too often and the fact that he had the incredible opportunity to scrub in on it when none of the other interns did was huge. In all too quick of a moment, it had been ripped away from him. However, that wasn't what hurt the most about the whole situation. What hurt most is that Jo made that face, subtly mentioning how Levi was only on the surgery because of 'special treatment', obviously hinting towards being Nico's boyfriend. What hurt even more was that Nico just stood there and didn't say anything. He didn't deny it, didn't try and fight to keep Levi on the surgery. He knew how excited Levi was for this surgery and still did nothing. Absolutely nothing.
That was what Levi was most vexed about.
He hadn't heard from Nico since. Honestly, he didn't want to. He was mad. Real mad. If he saw Nico now, he didn't know how he would react. Would he snap? Would he just ignore him and hope he went away? Would he act as if nothing had happened? They were still on rough terms from that morning, which only made the situation a bit more intense.
Levi let out a sigh as he flipped the page of the book that was open in front of him, tapping the pen in his other hand against the table as his eyes skimmed through the words. He wrote a couple important, keywords down, hoping it would help him memorize them. He still had exams he needed to do and he planned on passing them.
As he went to write down another thing, his phone buzzed on the table next to him. It was a text from his mother, asking if he was okay. He half-heartedly smiled to himself as he picked up his phone and swiftly texted her back, letting her know that his day had just been a bit hectic. At least he'd managed to scrub in on some sort of surgery earlier. That memory of the man coughing up a massive blood clot was something he wouldn't forget. Ever.
Just as he pressed send, the door of the on-call room opened. Levi's attention automatically went to the door, only to see Nico standing there, almost shocked to see Levi. With a heavy sigh, Levi turned his attention back to his books, picking his pen back up to scribble down some more notes. The door clicked shut behind Nico as he entered, sitting himself down opposite Levi. Even so, Levi kept his focus on his notes, not really wanting to argue with Nico right now. He didn't need the added stress.
"Hey," Nico began, trying to capture Levi's attention. Much to his dismay, Levi didn't look up. "What are you doing?"
"Studying," Levi said, matter-of-factly, like it wasn't completely obvious what he was doing.
"Are you okay?" Nico asked, resting his arms on the table, causing it to shift slightly. It ended up making Levi mess up his notes. They were going so well.
"I'm fine," He spoke through gritted teeth, almost slamming his pen down on the table as he sat back in his chair, arms folded across his chest. "What?"
"You obviously aren't okay, considering that you keep snapping at me." Nico shook his head a little, letting out a breathy laugh. He couldn't believe that Levi was acting in such a manner. He could be a real drama queen sometimes. The sass Levi possessed was incredible.
"What, are you some sort of psychiatrist now?" Levi finally moved his gaze to look at Nico, as much as he didn't want to.
"Can you stop acting like such a drama queen?" Nico quipped. Levi scoffed at his words.
"I have every right to be pissed right now, Nico."
"Listen, about the surgery-"
"No, drop it. I'm not talking about this right now." Levi stopped him before he could say anything else. Levi wasn't about to let this situation pass over like it was nothing. The surgery was something extremely important to him and he got kicked off of it like it was nothing.
Nico took in a deep breath as he stood from the chair, the legs of it scraping against the floor with a screech. The sound made Levi cringe. "I couldn't have said anything that would have kept you on that surgery!"
"Yes, you could have!" Levi argued back, also standing up from his chair. He stood up with so much force that the chair flew back and landed against the floor with a loud thud. He made his way around the table so he could stand in front of Nico. "I worked tirelessly for three weeks to help assist on that surgery, you stood by me and helped me every step of the way!"
"Levi, keep your voice-"
"No, let me speak! That surgery was a massive deal for me. It was a huge stepping stone for my career as a surgeon. I didn't get on that surgery just because of you. I got on that surgery because I worked hard and I proved that I could do it. I didn't get on that surgery because of 'special treatment', or whatever. I missed out on a huge opportunity today, all because you didn't stand up for me."
"Woah, you're blaming this on me now?" Nico almost seemed to laugh, tearing his gaze from Levi to take a moment to compose himself. There was no way that it was Nico's fault.
"Yeah, I'm blaming you. Why didn't you say something, Nico? You knew how much I wanted this and you just let it slip away from me." Levi let out a shaky breath as he finished, wrapping his arms around his stomach, his expression melting into something that resembled hurt.
"I had no power to say anything, Levi. It was purely Link and Jackson's decision to make." Nico explained, taking a step towards Levi, in hopes that he would be able to comfort him.
"I could have proven that I am more than what people think of me. I could have proven that I could do it. You had just as much say as Link or Jackson in that situation. That surgery could have actually really helped me to progress, to learn and see what happens in situations like that. You didn't say anything because you didn't want me in that room, did you?" Levi's brows furrowed together, the very thought of Nico not saying anything purely because of their little argument earlier that morning made his stomach twist. It felt awful.
"No, Levi. Why would you even think that?" Nico couldn't believe Levi had even thought of such a thing.
"It doesn't really matter now, does it? The surgery is done and over with. Listen, I have uh... Stuff, to do. I'll speak to you later. I just want to be alone right now." Levi mentioned, his voice low as he spoke, almost a whisper. Nico let out a sigh as he nodded, realizing he wasn't going to get anything else out of Levi.
Just a few moments later and Nico had left, leaving Levi to tidy up his study notes before he had to head back out to check on his patients.
-
The rest of the day had passed in a blur. Before he really knew what was happening, he was rushing after Nico, telling him that he loved him. Yes, he had really just told Nico that he loved him. Which was very, very true. Levi wasn't going to deny it. There was no way he could.
Levi loved Nico with all his heart, which was both exciting and terrifying at the same time. It was a completely new feeling for Levi to have to experience for the first time. The nerves that ran through his body when he finally uttered those three words to Nico were almost enough to stop him from saying it.
Now, he was cuddled up with Nico, watching the end of a movie together. It had been an eventful day full of many conflicting emotions that Levi couldn't quite fully begin to understand. However, even though it seemed that the arguments of that day had been long forgotten, the lingering feeling of hurt had stayed deep within Levi.
"I don't get these kinds of movies," Nico sighed, cocking his head a little to the side as he watched the screen. "The dogs don't even talk and yet we seem to understand everything they want to say. They don't even really have a way of showing emotion other than wagging their tail or bearing their teeth. It's so strange."
"Do you really have to analyze every movie we watch?" Levi laughed a little, shifting himself a little so he could look up at Nico. Nico lifted his shoulder's in a slight shrug.
"It just baffles me," Nico commented, eyes still locked onto the movie. Levi grinned to himself, taking a moment to admire the man he loved so dearly.
"Oh, so a complicated surgery doesn't stump you, but understanding animals emotions does? Nico Kim, you sure are a weird man." Levi joked, sitting up from where he been cuddled into Nico's side. Nico finally tore his gaze away from the screen to look at Levi, who was stretching his arms above his head, his muscles sore from having been working all day.
"You're not still mad about the surgery, are you?" Nico raised a brow, hoping that Levi wasn't about to bring it up again.
When Levi was finally done stretching, he looked at Nico, a tired grin tugging at the corner of his lips. He shook his head slightly, letting out a short sigh. "No, I don't think I am. There will be other opportunities for me. I got to save a man's life today, and potentially save his daughters too."
"I heard about that," Nico shifted in his seat so he could face Levi a little more. "Bailey mentioned how proud she was of you. You saved a life today, Levi. I just turned someone's ankle into a knee."
"I guess you're right." Levi couldn't hide the bright smile that spread across his lips. He really had saved a life today. Two, potentially. Maybe missing out on the rotationplasty wasn't such a bad thing after all?
"So, I think you may have won the surgery lottery today. I can't believe my boyfriend is a life-saver." A cheeky grin tugged at Nico's lips as he spoke. Levi let out a whine, hiding his face in his hands to hide the fact he was blushing.
"Why do you have to be so cheesy all the time?" Levi removed his hands from his face, resting them in his lap as he stared at Nico, his bottom lip jutted out in a pout. Nico let out a low chuckle, a sense of pride washing over him. He always enjoyed teasing Levi. His reactions never failed to amuse Nico.
"I like seeing you blush. You're really adorable when you react the way you do."
"Oh, shut up." Levi quipped, lowering his head to hide the smile gracing his face.
Nico watched on in awe of Levi, unable to comprehend how beautiful he truly was. Nico sat himself up, reaching out to take Levi's hands in his own, stroking his thumb across the back of Levi's hand softly. Levi looked up at Nico, his cheeks still somewhat flushed a light shade of pink. "I love you. So, so much. You truly are incredible, Levi Schmitt."
"I love you, too," Levi muttered back, giving Nico's hands a subtle squeeze as he leaned forward, closing the gap between them, pressing his lips against Nico's in a soft, tender kiss. Nico dropped Levi's hands, his hands coming up to rest against Levi's neck, ever so slightly pulling him in closer. His thumb grazed against Levi's cheek as they kissed, Levi's hands coming to rest against Nico's waist.
At the end of the day, yes, Levi was upset he didn't get to scrub in on the surgery he'd waited weeks for. But he wouldn't trade-in this moment with Nico for anything else in the entire world.

Schmico Headcanons
So my sister and I had a long ass chat in the bathroom the other night about Schmico headcanons and this is what we came up with. Some will be happy and fluffy but some won't so, I will issue a trigger warning now before you chose to proceed. I hope you enjoy some of them! Also, please don't attack me if you don't agree with any of these. I don't really watch Grey's too much, I just love Schmico, okay?
~~~
- Nico tends to tease Levi for his height, calling him stupid nicknames. Deep down, Levi secretly enjoys it.
- Levi is more of a hot chocolate guy, where as Nico prefers a strong coffee.
- They don't tell anyone about their relationship- they just all happen to somehow know.
- Nico is more of a cat guy, where Levi prefers dogs.
- It is more often than not that it's Levi paging Nico to go and find a room with a lock ;)
- Nico is the type of guy to bottle his emotions up and then eventually have a massive breakdown. Levi lets his emotions out little and often, so he doesn't bottle it up.
- Nico would DEFINITELY enjoy skincare. Let's be real here, you seen his skin? It's clear as day!
- Nico would top. Sorry not sorry.
- Levi would be slighty rougher though, in my opinion.
- Nico thinks Levi is fucking gorgeous without his glasses. He loves Levi in glasses of course, but seeing him without them is like having an out-of-body experience.
- Levi would by the type of guy to sing/hum to himself as hes cleaning or reading or whatever.
- When they really laugh, Nico is more of the silent, smacking the table sort of laugh. The one that makes you think you've laughed yourself a pair of abs. Levi would laugh really loud and probably start crying because of it.
- Nico would take longer in the bathroom in the morning.
- Levi would be more emotional if he lost a patient. He would be the type to get attached to his patients in my opinion.
- Levi would easily be able to get Nico to play videogames with him when they have time off.
- Levi would be a marvel fan. Nico doesn't really care, as long as the movie is interesting.
- Levi secretly loves cheesy, romantic, cliche movies.
- Nico isn't the type to cry. So when he cries, Levi knows something is wrong.
- Neither of them would want a massive wedding. Just something small and cute.
- Nico definitely listens to Levi rant about all his favourite things, even if he has no clue what Levi is talking about.
- Nico is HELLA protective of Levi. You insult him, you die.
- Levi isn't the type to stand up for himself (at least not all the time), but he would defend Nico in a heartbeat.
- I think Levi would probably be somewhat body conscious. Idk why I just get that vibe.
- Nico would be the messiest of the two. Levi often cleans up after him.
- Honest to God, I think Nico would be the most affectionate of the two. He loves giving kisses and cuddling with Levi. He just loves being around him.
- Levi would be the first to say I love you.
- Nico would be the best at cooking. Levi tries and succeeds sometimes, but not always.
- Stress effects Levi more than it does Nico.
-Levi prefers Halloween, where as Nico prefers Christmas.
- Levi prefers the cold and Nico prefers the hot.
~~~
I'll try think of more some time! These are just some of the (less dark) thoughts we had! I'll have to ask my sister when she gets back from Paris about some of the others I've forgotten about. Hope you enjoy them!
