Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
reading danielle’s message gave you flashbacks of her injecting you with cat medicine. a funny memory to look back on now but reliving it was something you would not laugh at.
“hey dani!” you walk into the examination room, excited to see her but scared of reliving the past.
“hey y/n! get comfortable with the dog while i get the stuff” she smiles at you as she puts on some blue latex gloves.
getting comfortable with your patients was a key component of staying safe, not getting bitten by any animal was the end goal for everyone everyday. living by this goal, you played with the puppy a bit while danielle took stuff in and out of drawers.
“i missed having you here” danielle admits, setting a leash into your hands, waiting for you to put it on the dog.
“i missed being here with you” you smile, watching her return to her corner of supplies while you put the leash on the puppy.
“i’m glad we can spend time together more often again!” danielle sounds excited as she returns to where you are, holding a needle in her hand.
“if i moved back in we’d be together 24/7” you say jokingly but you secretly did want to move back in with her. living with danielle made you happy and had you looking forward to the next day no matter the conditions.
“you should” danielle says seriously, looking at you dead in the eyes.
“jeez, take me out to dinner first” you laugh as you hold the puppy in a comfortable position for all three of you.
danielle didn’t want to waste any more time, scared of things between you two changing once again, she couldn’t hold back. she cleared her throat, and dropped her smile.
“y/n? can i be your girlfriend?” she looks away for a second before turning back to you. a subtle red tint adorning her face and ears.
the room dropped quiet, the dogs loud breathing stopped, machines stopped beeping, animals stopped making noises, ryo stopped screaming. it was as if you could hear a pin drop in the room. you were scared of danielle hearing your raving heartbeat because of how quiet it got.
“if you inject the dog and not me, i’ll be your girlfriend” you smile trying to remain calm and regulate your heartbeat.
danielle didn’t say anything but instead focused on injecting the dog. she felt around the area making sure your hand was not present and it was indeed the dog she would be injecting. she even went the extra mile to put on her stethoscope to make sure it was the dog. you quietly laugh in response.
“that helps you dani?” you tease.
“your heartbeat is so strong”
embarrassment washes over you and you look away realizing she got you there.
“hurry up” your face heats up and the red tint that danielle had was now shared between the both of you.
“thank you! if your dog has any reactions to the shot please bring him back!” danielle calls out to the dogs owner as they walk out the building.
she runs down the hall to the storage room where you’re at. you decided to clean up and refill the dog treats to calm yourself down after danielle successfully injecting the dog and not her newly girlfriend.
“i’ll wait for you in the car?” she peeks from the door frame.
“yeah i’ll be there in a minute” you turn to smile at her, taking your doctors coat off.
“okay!” danielle turns the corner to clock out but stops in her tracks. seeing her leave made you turn back to what you were doing, leaving your back turned to the door.
danielle comes back into the room and kisses your cheek quickly before giggling and running out the room. her laugh is heard as she runs down and out the building. surprised, it takes you a minute to recalibrate and process what just happened.

New Interview with Kazuki and Rei’s Japanese VAs: “The ending was unexpected.”
The Week 10 Interview went up on the Buddy Daddies website today. It was an interview with Kazuki and Rei’s Japanese VAs. I’ll link to the full interview below, but here are some some parts from it that I personally found the most interesting.
Rei’s VA notes that “buddy relationship” is basis for the series, but since Miri’s been there from the start, there is more of a trio focus. So the story is essentially about these two buddies who are wrapped around Miri’s finger.
Kazuki’s VA talks about how the series’ composition of having Rei and Kazuki, these two hitmen with past trauma and without normal childhood experiences, being wrapped around the finger of Miri, who is this innocent child, allows for both a lot of “fish out of water” moments, as well as drama. He thinks that there is a really great balance between the three of their characters.
Another thing he mentions is how his character can be very aggressive sometimes, so he seems to push around Rei (he uses the same term here that they both used for Miri, and which is used in the BD’s Opening song, which is 振り回される (furimawasareru) and was translated to “wrapped around my finger”). Because of this, he will always apologize to Uchiyama (Rei’s VA), lol.
Rei’s VA is like that’s no big deal and thinks that Rei being pushed around, dragged around, etc. by Kazuki’s character was quite interesting and funny.
The interviewer asked them about the final act that is coming up, and they mention how Kazuki and Rei’s backstories came to light in Episodes 7 and 8, and that their feelings for Miri have united, become one, but that there are things that mustn’t be forgotten, and that those will come to light in Episode 10.
Basically, this is when we are going to see Ryo really getting involved and the question of what will really happen to Miri be questioned. What will the two of them actually do about Miri and whether the relationship between the three of them should really remain as it is.
Kazuki’s VA also mentions that one of the keys to the story will be the relationship with the person who Miri is still related to by blood (aka Misaki, her mother).
While Rei’s VA notes that there are some intense developments and that he is very curious about what viewer’s reactions to the story will be. Noting that Buddy Daddies has a very unique style in depicting a story with some tough elements to it. So the tone of the series had been different to what it is, even if the plotline had been similar, the angle or approach to it would be different.
As for the ending...Kazuki’s VA mentions that he might think about what Director Asai wanted to convey with his work, and Rei’s VA found the ending to be quite unexpected.
Kazuki’s VA is also interested in seeing how viewers will react. He thinks that there will be some who are realists and even though this is an anime, they will say, “This is the way it would be in real life.” For those people, “Fact is stranger than fiction” and the end of the series will make you question things like that and “Isn’t this what real life is like?”
Rei’s VA notes that, once you take out the "pseudo-family” aspect, the series as a whole can have quite a dark atmosphere about it.
No matter what though, they are quite certain that viewers will be surprised by the ending and they hope we enjoy the remaining episodes!

Things I noticed while watching High and Low the Worst X again
I was watching High and Low The Worst X while I was on lunch break and then had more realizations and wanted to write about them lol
These are probably nothing new and someone else probably already noticed these but I wanted to make a post about them sooooo
I’ve watched the movie so many times now idk why I just realized the weight of the three scenes I’m about to talk about. But also I feel like I notice something new every time I watch the movies so I'm gonna cut myself some slack.
Amagai being the only character in the movie who genuinely doesn’t have a sense of friendship/comradery with anyone else.
The first time we see the 3 schools alliance meeting is the opening of the movie, and I remember when I first watched the movie I was like "well damn this looks like a solid ass team" only to find out later that they were in fact not really a team lol 😂 but anywaysss
Watching the movie this time I just realized what Fujin says to Amagai in the first scene in the restaurant where the 3 schools are holding their meetings.
Reiji is first to jump up and say "Let's get this brawl started," and Ghandi jumps in telling Amamgai that their troupes and weapons are ready. Shoji laughs and says that weapons are typical Kamasaka behavior which prompts them to jump at him and Fujin, Raijin, and the other Ebara guys jump straight to his defense while Shoji continues sitting. Amagai tells them to "get us more" while tossing the money bundles in their direction.
Every single fuckin character in this scene's facial expressions have me dying because the disbelief on their faces😂
Shoji looking at Amagai like he's full of shit.
Fujin, Raijin, and Ghandi are looking at him like "wtf?"
The background characters are looking at him in disbelief also like I was WHEEZING when I realized this. Back to the characters who are the main focus of this specific camera frame though, Ghandi and Fujin.
Both characters turn to Amagai with the BIGGEST look of disbelief on their faces and Fujin says "You don't trust we can do it huh?"
To which Amagai says "What's the use in trusting you guys?" and goes on a spiel about how being powerful means you trust no one and not even giving them a slight chance. He also goes on to say that being powerful means bringing everyone else down to their knees and tells the other 3 schools "Just shut up and stick with me. I'll show you what it's like to be at the top." Ryo's face when he says this is a whole other conversation for another day.
I'M SORRY BUT THE LOOKS REIJI AND SHOJI GIVE HIM AFTER HIS LITTLE SPIEL HAD ME ROLLING🤣 Like both characters gave him the most judgmental expression and then you got Shoji over here looking away and rolling his eyes PUH-LEASE I AM DEAD🤣
Aside from all of this being extremely funny to me, this plays into my point from above. Yes, all these looks are super funny but it really shows how as "bad" as the other guys are they still run in the same way that Oya and the other S.W.O.R.D gangs do, through friendship and comradery.
Fujin asked "You don't trust we can do it huh?" because Ebara most likely runs on comradery as well. You don't pay someone to do shit for you, they just know to trust each other to get it done. This is a concept that Amagai does not and can not understand because he's been conditioned to believe that the people around him are not worthy of trust or friendship due to his status, they just work for him. As long as he throws money at their feet, they'll do what he wants.
That's like kind of sad actually, the fact that the other "antagonists" of the film still know friendship and he doesn't... I still hate his guts though. We love Ryoki but we don't love his character Amagai.
The way Shoji vs Tsukasa asks Suzaki why he’s working for Amagai
I think everyone can agree that within that 3 school alliance, Shoji Sameoka was the only character with working brain cells (full offense to all the other characters lol no one else in that room had critical thinking skills I swear). From the first meeting we see, the audience can already tell Shoji is the only character who has doubts about this alliance but also questions it; while everyone else has doubts but proceed to just follow Amagai's orders. This eventually leads to Shoji being the one to suggest that Ebara drop out of the alliance because he thinks it’s stupid which then leads to him agreeing to Todoroki’s terms of dropping out of the alliance if Todoroki wins against Fujin and Raijin. I feel like Shoji as a person judges the other characters based on what he knows/hears about them.
We see this when he confronts Suzaki. Shoji asks Suzaki why he would come to Senomon and work under Amagai when he was the one running Nami High. Suzaki tells him to mind his own business. Shoji is asking Suzaki from a place of strength. Based on the dialogue, it seems like Shoji knew Suzaki and Amagai’s reputations before this alliance. I deduce this down to Shoji knowing that Suzaki was the strongest at Nami High and knowing that Amagai isn’t actually physically strong compared to the other characters, he just likes to cause trouble and make others work for him. People fear Amagai not for his strength or skills as a fighter, but simply because he has the money and status to be at the “top”.
This brings me to believe that Shoji was asking why someone as strong as Suzaki would even work under Amagai who is clearly not a match for him strength wise. It seems like Shoji is asking Suzaki why he would be scared of Amagai’s money and work under him when Suzaki is clearly stronger. I think this is because the Ebara guys ranks are based on their strength/who is the strongest (I make this assumption from the fact that Fujin and Raijin are straight up gym bros lol) so Shoji can’t understand why Suzaki is working under someone clearly weaker than him.
Tsukasa’s question is the same….. but also different.
Tsukasa strikes me as someone who really gets to know someone personally to the best of his abilities before he makes his own judgment on them. We see this with Rao in the movie. Tsukasa could’ve taken everyone’s word for it and been like “oh Rao is a big mean monster” but he takes it upon himself to find out who Rao actually is through Mercy. This is how he finds out Rao isn’t actually all that bad like the stories suggests and that Rao fights for good reason (for his siblings). This trait about Tsukasa is why he asks Suzaki why he fights for Amagai but is also why he’s the only one who is able to understand why Suzaki fights for Amagai without a direct answer.
When Tsukasa asks Suzaki why he works for Amagai, he says “why do you work for a guy like him? Does he has some kind of dirt on you?” and Suzaki just keeps quiet. This brings me to believe that Suzaki probably had a reputation for being the strongest at Nani High but also fought people within reason, he didn’t flaunt his strength just because he felt like it.
Tsukasa asked him based off the kind of person he is and not his strength. I'm assuming Ryo fought people within reason and not so much for fun or to assert his dominance over others with his strength, so him working under someone who has as shitty of a personality as Amagai probably threw Tsukasa off a bit.
He is also however able to tell that there is a friendship there even if it isn't great. At the end when Yuken and Todoroki ask why Ryo would work for someone like Amagai, Tsukasa says it's because he means more to Ryo than that. Alluding to the fact that Ryo is doing stuff for Amagai because he sees him as a friend even if everyone else doesn't.
Okay, I'm done now😂 this wasn't as deep as my other analysis because it's not super deep with comparisons or anything like that it was just stuff I noticed while watching the movie again.
I have fics I'm working on for all the S.W.O.R.D leaders and more for Fujio I'm just swamped with assignments and working a little slow

——♥︎——
sweat dripped down your forehead as you scrubbed a coffee ring from the table. the air in your workplace had been out for three days now — you were tired of asking when it would be fixed. the bell on the front door rang, echoing around the empty cafe.
breathlessly, you lift your head and attempt a polite smile. “welcome to—!”
“just sit wherever. it’s fine,” white hair greets you first. your hold on the rag tightens as your smile drops. random senomon students enter the store, snorting as they catch sight of your haggard appearance. kohei eyes you with a condenscending grin, “you’ll let us order whatever we want, hm, doll?”
through clenched teeth, you manage a “sure.” before walking to the counter to grab your notepad. as your back is turned to the crowd, you close your eyes and let out a sigh, heaving in a few deep breaths to calm yourself.
a figure is stood behind you as you turn around. ryo catches your elbow, his left arm wrapping around your waist as you jump, unsteady on your feet at his sudden appearance. “sorry,” he mutters. “didn’t mean to scare you.”
“is there something you need, suzuki?”
“ryo. told you last time to just call me ryo.” there’s part of a smile on his lips as he looks at you, only his fingertips touching you now. you nod, gaze settled on the floor as kohei laughs loudly — the sound makes you tense. ryo is in your line of sight once more, fighting for your attention. “i’ll help you carry everything out.”
biting your lip, you glance at the kind boy before you catch sight of kohei’s snarl. he’s glaring your way, eyes lingering on the way ryo looks ready to grab you if you trip again. “that’s okay. you don’t have to.”
ryo blinks. if there’s one thing being friends with amagi kohei taught him, it was how to get what he wanted. ryo tilts his head so that his eyes meet your lowered ones, “i wasn’t asking.”
left without a choice, you take the group’s various orders and head to the back to help your co-worker sort them out. the cafe you worked in was small — homey and comfortable — not one you’d normally see a larger crowd at.
kohei knew you liked him, though. your small crush on him became known somehow and he made it his mission to bug you about it. things were funny at first — backhanded compliments ; light teasing ; comments about the different worlds you came from. somehow things escalated. no matter what shift you took, or days you worked, the white haired boy would always show up.
with kohei came taunts of the money you made — money he gave you — and a curled lip as he spat put exactly what he thought of the crush you had on him. of course, those feelings left long ago, but kohei was adamant on making sure you knew your place. as you sat his requested drink on the table in front of him, amagi gripped your wrist harshly. “my drink’s too hot. blow on it for me.”
a giggle or two came from the group he’d brought with him, a grin perking up his face at the sound of them, embarrassing you further. slowly, you leaned forward to blow gently on his steaming drink — kohei held the back of your head down until he felt you deserved to move.
ryo watched as you fluttered around other people, eyes stamped to the ground as shame dripped over you. he sat beside kohei, loudly sighing and glaring at his friend. the white-haired boy glared back wordlessly as ryo stared. “you could be nicer.”
“i’ll leave a nice, hefty tip. that good enough?” amagi snapped back immediately. he leaned in closer, whispering so only suzuki could hear. “you’re my friend ; your father works for me. don’t forget that.”
without taking even a sip of his drink, kohei stood. he dismissed himself with a loud slam of the door, a trail of red uniforms following behind him. you bowed wordlessly, not raising your head until the shop grew silent.
you begin to gather plates and cups, mourning the waste the group left behind. ryo follows behind you silently, gathering his own share of mugs and plates. as you place them in the sink, you freeze, feeling him hover over your shoulder. “you can leave. i can do this myself.”
“that crush you had on amagi...” you stiffen at ryo’s words. his hands are on your shoulder, fingers floating down to your wrists until you’re turned, facing him now. ryo tilts his head, “it’s gone now?”
“long gone.” there’s no need for you to tell him that ; no point in letting him know the truth. but, it feels good ; telling someone the senomon leader no longer lingered in your mind. “for a while now. i respect myself more than that.”
suzuki grins at your words, his right hand raising to your hip as his left one twines itself with your fingers. “you do. deserve better, too.”
“and you think you don’t?” ryo’s smile drops. you sigh, shaking your head and looking away from him. “he’s not much of a friend, in my opinion.”
slowly, ryo steps closer to you until his breath is invading your own, mixing and mingling as his gae softens at the sight of you. “tell me what i deserve, then.”
you lick your lips, failing to step back as the counter digs into your spine. “that’s up for you to decide, suz— ryo.”
he lets out a winded, dreamy sigh at the sound of his first name escaping your lips. his right hand pinches the skin of your waist, causing you to jump — ryo grins at how startled you look. “and if i decide i deserve you?”
——♥︎—— so so many thoughts on him and the suzuran boys oof <3 they said oh h&l fans want more pretty boys? here you are! idk how much i like this ending but i cant think of anything else rn lmao h&l loves : @straysugzhpe , @star2fishmeg , @rouzuchan , @high-lowincorrect , @yuken-gf <<33

Winds of Change
Chapter 5: Something in the Air
Shuuji knows something is amiss when he catches Syakomon let out an almost imperceptible sigh of relief. He’s lucky that the viscous surface of Syakomon’s slimy green body betrays her—the quiver of the otherwise silent exhale sends a faint, wobbly shockwave across her skin, and she jiggles ever so slightly in her shell, as though somebody’s just set down a cautious bowl of lime-flavored jello.
Supposedly, the worst is over, but Shuuji can't shake the feeling that there's something the Kemonogami aren't telling him.
ao3 link in source , extended end-of-chapter author's notes under the cut!
oh BOY the editing situation was a doozy. granted, i was also busy with work, but even then this chapter needed a TON of reworking, much much more than chapter 4 did. like i said on ao3, it got to the point where this chapter was so long that i had to split it in two.
i also mentioned that this chapter marks the beginning of the second half of this fic. chapters 1-4 make up part one, which i'd summarize as "how did we get here?", and then from 5-8, the focus will be "what happens next?". it helped a LOT to recontextualize chapters 5-7 (now 5-8) as an answer to chapters 1-4, and i think it'll make editing easier going forward; i have much more direction now and a better idea of what needs to be expanded on and what needs to be cut.
unfortunately, like i said, i had to omit a lot of saki-centric stuff. she is the scariest character for me to write, and i think i need to progress more thru my replay of truthful before i feel confident enough to write from her perspective. it works out anyway, because the part i cut had shuuji taking a very passive role and just observing interactions between saki and floramon, and it felt very drawn-out and unnecessary. this is my favorite cut segment tho
Tumblr media
im really hoping to be able to figure out what an aoi-miu-saki dynamic looks like as i get more comfortable writing the three of them. i think it could be really fun. also i think it would be so funny if miu and saki bring out a mischievous side of aoi that would otherwise not exist. much to think about.
anyway. another challenge i had with editing this chapter was the topography of the beach area the group hangs out at before moving on to the shopping district and apartment complex. for some reason i was convinced the rocky beach area was like.. up on a cliffside? but then i looked at the map and got REAL confused. the beach is super super narrow, and that was really inconvenient when i needed shuuji to be somewhere relatively out of the way, where he could have a conversation with agumon that takuma cannot hear, while still being able to see takuma. so thats why i spent an hour and change squinting at the tiniest png of the map and reorganizing where people spend their time
Tumblr media
if my handwriting is illegible (from left to right) (oh my god now that ive added the image to the post its a nightmare. idk why im even posting it. lord. im not sure opening it in a new tab will help) factory residential area shopping district woods near shopping district minoru up here group rests here waterway exit from shaft here instead; rest of waterway rock w/ supplies hill down from the waterway shuuji rests here pt 6 argument happens here aoi & ryo here in ch4 (this is where they were keeping watch) miyuki here
i didnt make many changes; mostly i just moved people around. the one thing that i DID change though was the placement of the waterway entrance. i have NO IDEA why the game has it in the middle of the fucking ocean. like i know theres a tunnel there, but surely the entrance to that tunnel isn't underwater right? i then poured another hour and change learning about waterways, trying to figure out where it made the most sense to put the exit before remembering that it doesn't matter because the digital world doesn't play by human world rules. oops! it was still super interesting though! please look up 'tokyo g-cans' if you ever get the chance, its fucking fascinating. if i ever go back to japan id like to go down there, maybe.
obligatory commentary about the map:
oh my god it seems too big for what we actually see but im not a cartographer so i dont know for sure
the shopping district/apartment complex is visible from the beach but i feel like it shouldn't be: on the map it looks like it's on a cliff face while from the beach it looks like it's shore level
i've been reading half the green patches as dense tree cover but now that i think about it, that might just be open grassland. oops. it's all trees now.
i wish we could go to the sandy beach areas to the north and east ends of the island!!! that could've been fun!
i really appreciate that the second island is shaped vaguely like a beluga
in other news, agumon was much easier to write than i was worried he would be, and it was nice to work out how he felt about what happened in the waterway. one thing ive noticed about agumon on a second truthful run is that he and takuma are equally awful about pushing down their own feelings for the sake of the ones of their friends. a lot of the others seem to view agumon as the guy who is always Staying Silly , no thoughts head empty. while i DO think that that's a genuine part of his personality, i think it also happens sometimes that he uses that image to downplay his concerns.
my favorite part to write this chapter was labramon's dialogue at the end. and also baby stats. baby stats was the ONE THING i REFUSED to cut. non-negotiable. it's been in my notes since the beginning and digimon survived all edits of this chapter, and i was DETERMINED to keep it.
all right im getting sleepy and i want to post this chapter and then go to bed. as usual please dont be afraid to leave a comment, i looooove finding out people's favorite parts, and im still curious about your Gamer Theories, especially now that i think what i'm foreshadowing is becoming clearer and clearer >:3c
couldn't tell you for sure when ch6 will be out. ideally it won't involve as much editing as ch5, but it's hard to say. thank you for reading, and i'll be back as soon as i can!

no one is going to read this whole post i just have to like write it down because it's so insane crazy the world of city hunter movies is so baffling, like idk if other manga/anime series have this level of strange stuff happening movie wise maybe they do? there are multiple theatrical movies: .357 Magnum, Bay City Wars, Million Dollar Conspiracy, then the newer ones, Shinjuku Private Eyes, and Angel Dust. Multiple ovas/television movies The Secret Service, Goodbye My Sweetheart, and Death of Vicious Criminal Ryo Saeba. Ok all normal Then there is the world of live action city hunter movies which are like. City Hunter 1993: hong kong adaption of the movie starring jackie chan (? never understood it's bad casting honestly) but also, i've read that he didn't like the raunchy humor which is like, 90% of the humor, so they cut a lot of it out of the movie. this is a pretty normal adaption despite not being that accurate. jackie chan also dresses as chun-li from street fighter in this movie Saviour of the Soul 1991: this is the most bizarre thing i could imagine, this movie was released in 1991 making it the first actual "adaption" of the material despite it being like...the only thing i can say is martial arts fantasy au? and to make this even funnier there is a second movie that has nothing to do with the FIRST movie so i have no idea what this even is anymore. The second movie has a character named the Devil King and is about "a special block of ice that is said to contain the life essence of immortality" like idk this seems like the FUNNIEST possible adaption you can make of a crime/slapstick story about a guy who always has a boner? i see so many people praising this movie saying it has like amazing action and story and costumes but that's so freaking funny why is it city hunter au Mr. Mumble 1996: UNOFFICAL hong kong adaption of the manga/anime. like holy shit hello all the characters are here..the MAIN character is in the same outfit from the anime...how does this not get you sued badly. But funnily enough it looks like the most accurate hong kong adaption. because there are three of them. and the one that copies the most is unofficial and unlicensed. wonderful world we live in i think its just so funny Nicky Larson et le Parfum de Cupidon 2018: since city hunter aired in france with a very bad dub it has a very large following and so there is a live action movie for it over 30 years after it was first published. everyone is french. pamela anderson is in this movie there's a kdrama series but it isn't anything like the source material apart from the name really so i dont think it counts also it's annoying because i always see it all over when i want to se the anime oh also there's a live action adaption of the city hunter alternate universe sequel series............there's so much stuff here Finally they are finally planning on making a japanse adaption and it's going to be on netflix. in 2024. i think that's it.

That other anon’s ask abt an HSR crossover is making me think abt shenanigans between the og Belobog trio (March, Dan Heng and TB) and Minoru, Saki and Ryo (and the other Survive kids, too).
Like…imagining them coming across TB digging through garbage. 😂
lkafdjad that would be so funny
It would be fun having them all meet bc I think the hsr characters have truly seen everything so they would not be the least bit put off by the kemonogami
But the Survive kids are from a mostly very normal world and I feel like they would think the trio are bullshitting them with their backstories
"So you see, I was found floating through space in a hunk of ice, my friend here has thing called a stellaron that destroys worlds inside of them, and the gloomy guy over here is a dragon!"
"...Okay now what's your actual backstory?"
March, Saki, and Minoru are all taking a million photos to commemorate the new friendship while Ryo and Dan Heng try to hide their faces and Trailblazer is in the trash in the background.
I'm just gonna say Stelle cuz she's the one I play as
No one asked but I picked Stelle because her destruction path ult animation looked way cooler than Caelus's to me.
I feel like Ryo and Dan Heng would bond over being the only normal people here. They both have such strong "oh god those are MY idiots" energy XD
I feel Minoru and Stelle would hit it off so well tbh. He looks at a plant like "man is this the edible one I think it is or the poisonous one that looks kinda similar to it?" and Stelle eats it without hesitation. Minoru would be curious who win in a fight, Stelle or Falcomon, but he doesn't actually want either of them getting hurt so for once he keeps his idea to himself.
I also love the idea of Stelle just telling the Survive kids the importance of a having a baseball bat at all times in case you need to defend yourself or threaten somebody or break down a door. Kaito is nodding sagely and taking notes.
Can you tell Stelle is my favorite of the three?
The second she says rules are made to be broken Aoi and Shuuji are cringing inside. She's Miu's idol now though LMAO.
I WANT MIU TO MEET HUO HUO AND TAIL SO BAD. I KNOW THAT'S OFF TOPIC FROM BELOBOG TRIO BUT P L E A S E.

i’m saying fuck it and using blue text so i can see what i’m typing here, which i’ve been doing anyways since this black text mobile glitch thing started happening, i’m just not bothering to change it back this time. anyhow i read gekiman last night and my main takeaways were
go nagai should be banished to a cave forever. but we already knew this
despite devilman’s initial popularity on release and subsequent popularity over time, the sirene arc was so drawn out that it was on the verge of being cancelled for the entire rest of its run and nagai had to bargain with publishers for extensions the entire time which is why the last three volumes feel so rushed. also thank christ for his editors re: sirene.
i learned this a while ago already but i’m actually a bit surprised at the extent to which nagai phoned in ryo’s character arc. he was initially planned to just be akira’s shady bad boy type friend who would die in the fight at sabbath, and nagai assumed him to be unimportant enough that he didn’t feel it was necessary to even include him in the original anime (which ran simultaneously), but readers liked him, and nagai ultimately elected to keep him in because it was useful for akira to have a friend who knew of his situation to guide the story along. it wasn’t actually planned for ryo to be satan until just before it happened, basically, which is crazy to me, because it really feels like his arc was heading there from the very start. sheer dumb luck
Tumblr media
this also was funny to me because it’s kinda true innit

WEEKLY WIP
Something I've been working on in between Drum Sticks and Rose Quartz and a different, bigger project. I think a lot about how Naruto was so alone as a kid, and how a lot of filler episodes in the anime drill this home. And how different his life is now that he's the village's hero, hokage and a doting father.
Tags: SasuNaru, Boruto era but canon divergent, Naruto growing up, feat. original character
Naruto didn't have a lot of money growing up. A monthly stipend given to him by Hiruzen, and probably out of the old man’s own pocket.  It was never enough, but even when he complained, he didn't get any more.  Sometimes even less.
He remembers having only a few ryo left, and despite knowing the prices by heart, had tottered out to the vending machines to see if maybe, magically, the prices had become cheaper and he could afford a snack.  Maybe even a cup of instant ramen.  His last hot meal had been three days ago; it would be another week before his next.
He stared forlornly at the crisp packets and the bottles of ramune and the strawberry milk.  He stared at the curry ramen, the seafood ramen, the hot, hot ramen.  His stomach hurt.
Tomorrow, he'd have to start stealing from the village vendors. They'd throw stones at him for it.  Maybe, if he was lucky, they'd throw fruit.  If he was even luckier, the fruit wouldn't be bruised or moldy.
His last 3 ryo crunches in his tiny fist.
-
Sasaki tugs on Naruto’s trousers.  Naruto picks up his head from his desk, and looks at his son.  It's getting late.  They'll have to go home soon; Sasaki shouldn't be hanging around his office at night like this.  It's not his fault their teacher got sick and cut the school day short.  Sasuke is away again, and with Sasaki still too young to know the way home, he had made for the Hokage mansion instead.
Everyone in the office knows to let any Uchiha through to Naruto no matter what.  But Naruto had felt guilty being unable to entertain Sasaki all afternoon.
Sasaki looks up at him with big, dark eyes now.
“Papa, I’m hungry.”
Naruto looks at the time.  It’s almost six.  Everyone else in the office has gone home.  Boruto will be heading back from training too.
Naruto stretches his arms above his head, heaving a satisfied sigh when his shoulders pop.
“It’s definitely that time, isn’t it?” Naruto says.  Sasaki holds fast to his pant leg.  “Let’s get a snack on the way home.”
Sasaki nods.
They stop by the vending machines.  Those same vending machines.  Naruto fishes a few ryo out of his wallet.
“Which one do you want?” Naruto asks.  He has his eye on a giant chocolate chip cookie for himself.
Sasaki remains silent.  His brows pinch.  An expression of concentration takes over his face, too heavy for a four year old.
“I can't decide,” he finally admits.  Naruto chuckles.  “The shrimp chips? No!  The strawberry milk with the funny cow.  Wait! Umm-”
Sasaki looks genuinely distressed over the amount of choices.
Naruto looks to the array of snacks again.  He looks to his wallet.  He slides a few coins in and presses the button for the milk with the picture of the funny cow.  Sasaki makes a noise of protest, before he watches as Naruto slides in a few more coins and chooses the packet of shrimp chips beside it.
“Let’s take both!” Naruto announces.  He crouches beside his son and takes the food out of the slot.  Sasaki takes them carefully, like maybe he's not allowed such spoils.  “We should get something for Boruto too.”
Naruto chooses a packet of hard candy that turns their tongues blue.
“And for papa!” Sasaki says.
“Right!” Naruto is out of change, so shoves a note into the slot and picks a can of soda for himself, but just to cover all his bases- “Will papa like the salt and vinegar chips?” He asks Sasaki.
Sasaki, little arms ladened with more snacks than he’s ever seen, jumps for joy while Naruto retrieves the chips for Sasuke.  But at this point, “We may as well just take one of everything!”
Naruto has spent more money than he should, and he has to make a makeshift sack with his hokage coat to carry the rest of the snacks.  Sasaki grips his milk and shrimp chips tight in one arm, the other holding Naruto’s fingers in his tiny fist, as they make their way home.

I like flowers (Ryoga Buto x MC) (Shorts)
Author's note: It's inspired by a reel where the girlfriend asks her boyfriend what is the equivalent of giving flowers for a man. And he says this:
Tumblr media
Words counting: 663
MC knew that Ryoga wasn't the sweetest at expressing his feelings through words. His abrasive tongue could hurt without him intending it. His sarcasm was funny till it wasn't. However, Ryo did his best to make MC know she was important to him. So, he compensated through his actions, caring nature, 200% commitment hugs, and flowers that he gave her with and without occasion.
Being only twenty-three, MC and Ryoga had their share of life experiences that still didn't eat all the naivety and novelty of the things around them. So, it wasn't so hard for the man to put the most genuine smile on his girlfriend's face with a bouquet he grew by himself in the backyard of their house.
However, every smile that appeared on MC's face after receiving another bouquet added problems for her soul. What could she give her boyfriend back that had an equal meaning as the flowers? What was as simple yet as important to him?
For weeks, MC stared into Ryoga's soul, trying to find the answer to her dilemma. And for weeks, it remained a mystery. Until she understood that she was staring at him while his eyes fell on the flowers.
Ryoga Buto, the manly man from the PLUST, the gym bro as Mikoto called him, the sarcastic meany, looked fondly at the frail petals he worked so hard to grow.
"What do you think about flowers?" MC whispered and was a second away from regretting talking aloud, but saw a soft expression on her boyfriend's face.
"I like flowers," was everything the man of few words said while sniffing the aromatic roses in front of him.
And after weeks of searching for sophisticated answers, MC understood that the clue was in front of her. She didn't have to think so hard to get it. Flowers weren't just for women. Men liked flowers too.
So, the day when the bouquet Ryoga gave to her dried up, it was MC's time to shine. With a dictionary of flowers and their meaning, she planned to send her boyfriend secret messages through her bouquets. He wasn't one to talk about his feelings, so she tried to translate her inner world into something he would understand.
When Ryoga came home after practice, MC waited for the other members to leave them alone. Her heart was beating fast against her ribcage. It was as if she was the first time in a foreign country whose language she studied in school. Theoretically speaking, she was supposed to communicate with everyone, practically - it was hard to open her mouth. But she had to. She had to show Ryoga that she appreciated how he tried his best to convey his feeling to her and speak his language. Taking a deep breath and hiding something behind her back, MC asked her boyfriend to close his eyes, to which he reluctantly obeyed. Her tender fingers touched Ryoga's ear for a mere second, but enough to make his heart beat faster.
"What did you do?" the man asked after opening his eyes.
MC showed him her best smile and put him in front of a mirror. Ryoga's eyes got bigger. Behind his ear was a flower of forget-me-not. He touched it slowly, not to adjust it, but to make sure it was real. Looking from his reflection to his girlfriend, he silently asked for explanations.
"You always give me flowers, and you said you liked them. So, I decided to do the same for you. Do you like it?"
The dancer didn't know what to say. Answering this was above his knowledge in speaking. So, he hugged MC as hard as possible, squishing her between his strong arms and hard chest. Then, with the softest movement, he put away a strand of hair and kissed her forehead. He wasn't going to tell MC, but he already knew that he would dry that flower and make a charm out of it, to keep it forever.

Salvage Smallcase: Ryo Oba
We interrupt the next Showcase to bring you the first of sporadic discussions! To celebrate this character's birthday, it was suggested by @drmedicsgamesurgery to make a 'showcase' for Ryo and I really liked that idea. However, given his state as being essentially a 'minor character to a semi-important character' and not having much to him, I decided he would be the first in what I like to call Salvage Smallcases!
Smallcases are Showcases that lack a proper Rundown section due to a character's dismal screentime, lack of fleshing out or non-real importance to the plot. Think of these guys as being under the Ted Chikatilo effect, except its less egregious, since these guys are supposed to be fairly unimportant in the bigger picture (instead of the plot acting as if they were important or well developed when its not the case).
So with that out of the way, let's delve into Hajiki's buddy!
Summary
Ryo Oba is Hajiki Yaki's friend who he occasionally brings along to help him bust illegal casinos. Ryo was originally one of these illicit gamblers, having had a bad childhood and a poor education. Ultimately, his career as a gambler ended after he had a kid with his girlfriend and lost miserably to the rising gambler herself: Celestia Ludenberg.
When Hajiki became a member of Yui Samidare's team, and volunteered to take on the GOODBYE Bar of the 12 Duel Noir Challenge, Hajiki opted to get his buddy to come along with him, since Ryo knew the area of the bar better.
Together, and with Gunzo Arai (who worked for the insurance company that owned the bar) they traveled to the location. Before they could enter, Hajiki would receive a call from Katsumi Kodama, a Target that was tied up in the bar. The three rush in but, little did they know, that they triggered a trap that had Katsumi stabbed by a poisoned knife. As such, Katsumi is found injured, but seemingly still alive. Ryo is panicking given that he has much to lose due to just becoming a father, but is still able to listen to Hajiki when his friend asks him to stay on-guard to block the door and even able to point Hajiki to the only possible exit: one that would lead into an alleyway. Thinking the culprit must have ran off, Hajiki would rush into the alley, despite his friend's protest...
Unfortunately, for Ryo, Hajiki would later run into the Victim of the Libra Girls Academy Duel Noir - his teammate Sachi Mizuiyama - and would be killed by her. As for Katsumi, he too would succumb to the poisoned knife. What Ryo and Hajiki didn't know was that the culprit of the GOODBYE Bar was the Scorpio Victim of the 12 Duel Noir Challenge and the other person who tagged along with them: Gunzo - who killed Katsumi because the guy murdered his Dad for an insurance premium.
While the case would be solved, Ryo would not show up again the Danganronpa Kirigiri series. Ryo held a friendly attitude with Hajiki, being more than willing to work with him, mostly for casino busting. Yet, he is not nearly as equipped to handle serious situations, like murder, and panics at the thought of getting in trouble for his involvement. His retirement from gambling, and reasons for it, suggests he's the type to quit when he knows he can't hope to measure against someone better than himself, and if there are people more important that require him to be better.
Personal Thoughts
One of the things I love concerning the supplementary or side material of Danganronpa is when they do nods to the mainline titles. Be it in the form of cameos or just references that they exist.
In this case, I really enjoyed DRK just having some of its original cast mention how the other Ultimates were active. From Yuzen bringing up the Ult. Imposter in DRK2 and Chihiro's programming getting stolen for use in DRK 6. And, likewise, we have DRK 5 having Celeste be the reason Ryo quit gambling (which is just funny to me)! Like with the Mukuro Cult I find it as a nice way to make the world of Danganronpa feel bigger, showing that these guys we got to know of in-game really had an influence on the world they lived in.
Though, outside of that, Ryo's treatment in DRK, is rather depressing when you stop to think about it. He's just trying to help his friend out but ends up not only having his buddy bludgeoned to death soon after leaving the crime scene, but the Target ends up dying on him as well. And the only other living witness to these events? Yeah, the person he's with is a murderer who could easily kill him if need be. Thankfully, its implied that doesn't happen, but he's left in a pretty low point for the plot...which doesn't focus on him again. After Hajiki dies, and unlike the St. Anne students or the M.R.S of DRK who have some bearing on the plot beyond their Duel Noir, so dies Ryo's involvement in the proceedings.
He doesn't even get to know who killed him or be there for Sachi being taken down, and the main cast never gets to interact with him. He's pretty much just collateral damage that doesn't get a chance to be more than that unlike the students who became detectives or the MRS who were the ones to defeat Sachi. He's just abandoned by the plot. Honestly, I find it kind of disheartening, because Ryo could have served as 'something' to keep Hajiki's memory going even after death.
Perhaps have him join Salvador and Kyoko's anti-Duel Noir team in the epilogue (throw in the MRS in there too...and heck maybe that broke college student from Sachi's) as a means to honor Hajiki dying trying to help and make up for not being there to save him. It would mean that there was 'weight' to a death that that I've long since felt was just an author writing out the extras they no longer need in favor of Team Samidare just being about Yui and Kyoko again. But, that isn't what happened, so what we have is just a neat extra who gives an entertaining reference and fades into the void once the kinda-ish important character they were with croaks. An unfortunate situation, but that's the fate of a Smallcase character.
Next Time: Kirigiriso returns with a certain plant as our topic of interest!

Kamen Rider Gotchard, Episode 2! It's felt like months since last I saw our boy. Man, I still can't believe this show is real, it's so goddamn cool. If I were a kid, I'd be losing my goddamn mind like three times as hard.
Spoilers, I guess...
-Houtarou-kun befriended the Chemy Hopper1, and with his help becomes Pretty Cure- I mean, Kamen Rider~!
-Okay, you're a person of higher authority in a Kamen Rider organization, that means you're definitely hiding something, Minato-sensei.
-Fun fact about me, I used to be super into studying alchemy as a belief system, and it's all because of the ol' massive Gnoggin Pokémon conspiracy theory of a franchise reboot, which was basically just an excuse for them to unload every cool interpretation about certain Pokémon they could parse.
-...and in a weird way, that reboot ended up being true.
-Shout outs to Lockstin tho, fr, makes fantastic content.
-Never heard of cram school, my dude?
-What do?
-Do alchemists get paid real money, or does Houtarou have to spin lead into gold?
-Oh, opening!
-All these goofy ahhh characters we'll get to know over the next year.
-Ooooh, he says Henshin in sequence!
-Who's this person with their face censored, I wonder?
-Skebows...
-Golddash...
-The Alchemist Academy uniform feels very Golden Sun-y.
-Ohhhhh...
-Traitor, I see.
-Poor Kudoh. Her Dad is under the "traitor" curse.
-The Alchemist of Dawn...
-This is so magic school manga, holy crap.
-Kamantis is a thicc boy
-"Change the weights. Balance them perfectly."
-Hello, Ma.
-Wow okay
-Dad didn't die, he just dipped.
-Skateboarding~!
-Oh hello, Ryo.
-SKEBOW
-I love them
-Skebow~!
-Kid's got the moves.
-Oh shit, robbers.
-...why did you stop in front of a playground, are you stupid or something?
-Malice.
-Houtarou's having a bit of a hard time parsing the material.
-Holy shit, that play structure looks so cool.
-Wish my town had budget like that.
-Kudoh, are you sure you wanna perform out here?
-To create... life...
-It seems our new Malgam's a bit of a tricky dicky.
-Malgam Nation.
-These're some damn creative monster designs.
-Money, money, money, money~!
-Free the Hopper.
-Man, I hope we're gonna see Rinne keep being cool. We're 4 for 4 on Reiwa seasons with great female leads, I hope we can hit 5.
-"You will not evade me, Skateboard Fairy!"
-Violence time.
-Lots of kick flips.
-Gotchanko!
-OdoriMantis~!
-Oh no you don't~!
-...oh yes you do!
-Hello, Minato-sensei!
-GoldDash...
-"Dash! Dash!"
-Oh hello
-That must be Mr. Spanner.
-Spinout!
-That's one way to go around!
-OH INSERT SONG?
-HELL YEAH LET'S GO
-OH FUCK BEVERLY IS THAT YOU????
-Oooooh, right in the trucks.
-Hop, hop, hop~!
-God, this is so cool.
-Skebows~!
-MY MONEYYYYYYYYYYY

-Balance~!
-If it works, it works!
-Ring~!
-That means you're part of a

-Alchemy~!
-New people.
-Oh fuck, speaking through a tablet. It's Banno 2.
-"Kamen Rider? Not Funny, Didn't Laugh."

So, Asuka’s Cyber Angels. Before we talk about them, we need to talk about the Cyber Girls first.
The original Cyber Girls were EARTH Warriors focused on Fusion, and Tribute Summoning. Their presence in the greater Cyber archetype was obviously a reference to Asuka’s connection to Ryo (this connection is reminded on Ryo’s end by Cyber Pharos, a later support for Cyber Dragons). Their designs, and effects were largely a homage to Mai’s Amazoness cards, which become relevant in the context of GX(Tania), and ARC-V (Tyler Sisters).
But everybody knows, after the duel with Titan, Asuka realizes Fusion is not the way to go, and adopts Titan’s Ritual Summoning to her own. Her Main Deck Cyber Angel is now based off retrains of early Fairy-Type monsters, with her new secondary mascot, Cyber Petit Angel, being a retrain of Anzu’s Petit Angel. And since she now cares about Judai now, her monsters shift to being references to Judai’s monsters, and cards instead of Ryo’s.
****
For Cyber Angels we need to need to divide them separate them into three groups, the GX ones, the ARC-V ones, and the post-ARC-V ones. The GX ones, and the ARC-V ones are largely based off Buddhist gods, whereas ARC-V ones are based off Hindu gods, since ARC-V already has tons of Buddhist references.
****
For GX ones:
**Cyber Angel Benten’s Kanji name, 弁天, Benten, references Benzaiten (shortened as Benten), the Japanese Buddhist version of the goddess Hindu goddess, Saraswati, consort of Brahman the creator god. The Kanji 弁 either means petal or speech (similar to Melodiouses’ naming pattern I guess?), and 天, ten, means heaven, but is used as the suffix for standard Kanji naming of Buddhist gods.
Benten’s effect’s reference is one of the most obvious. It is the same as Flame Wingman (and base, non-Pendulum Odd-Eyes Dragon), but with DEF instead of ATK.
**Cyber Angel Idaten’s Kanji name, 韋駄天, Idaten, references Idaten, the Japanese Buddhist version of Skanda, a bodhisattva that protects Buddhist temples. He is a presumably historical person who is venerated as if he is a god, without actually being one. Idaten is one of the genderbent Cyber Angels, and there is more to come. I don’t know what 韋, means in Japanese Kanji, it is almost always used in reference to Buddhism (though in Classic Chinese it means tanned leather), 駄 means of low quality, but also a packhorse, likely alluding to Idaten’s speed, and we already discussed  天, ten.
Idaten’s effect is a bit more obscure, it is based off Judai’s Skyscraper.
**Cyber Angel Dakini’s Kanji name, 荼吉尼, Dakini, references Dakiniten, the Japanese Buddhist version of Dakini, the female corpse eaters in Hinduism. The Kanji  荼 is used to transliterate Hindu terms, but on its own, it references Ixeridium dentatum (the flower reference again...), 吉, ki, means good luck, and 尼, ni means sister, but here it means Buddhist nun.
Dakini’s effect is probably the most obscure one, it is based off Elemental HERO Plasma Vice, and its ATK/DEF are 100 higher than Plasma Vice, which is supposed to represent that Asuka now surpasses Judai from the past, but Judai at the Season 4 is basically a demi-god, so...
***
As the final comments, the original GX Cyber Angels have more mechanical designs. The later Cyber Angels will have more organic designs. This is likely because original Cyber Angels are meant to be an updated reference to Buddhist self-mummification, with elements of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, and The Six Million Dollar Man added in.
***
For ARC-V ones:
*Cyber Angel Vrash’s Kanji name is 美朱濡, Vishnu, references Vishnu, but as I posted earlier, this is a non-standard Kanji. 美, bi, means beautiful, 朱, shu,  means vermillion, or red, 濡, nyu, means wet, but can euphumeristically mean sex. As I said in the previous post, this is likely not just a funny dirty joke (though congratulations for ARC-V team passing this sh*t pass the radar), but also references of Fusion used as a metaphor for sex in GX, and ARC-V a la Steven Universe.
Vrash’s statlines reference Judai’s Neos Wiseman, and Vishnu’s fused form with Lakshmi, Vaikuntha Kamalaja, is likely the connection with Yubel. Its Extra Deck monster destruction effect references the upper tier Neos Fusions (Chaos Neos, Storm Neos, Rainbow Neos), and its effect activation negation effect references White Night Dragon, Asuka’s boss monster from her brainwashed Duel against Judai in GX Season 2.
Vishnu is shown generally with a lotus (allusion to Yuzu’s Bloom Aria, and Yubel’s Samsara Lotus), and four arms (allusion to Mieru’s Tarotrei).
*Cyber Angel Natasha’s Kanji name, 那沙帝弥, Nasateiya, references Nasadiya sutta, though the monster itself references Kalki. The Kanji is non-standard. The Kanji 那, na, means what or which, and it is used in replacement of the Kanji 奈, which is used in Buddhist concept of Naraka(basically Hell), 沙, sa, either means sand, or one in 100 million, 帝, tei, means sovereign, but in the context of Yu-Gi-Oh! it means Monarch, and 弥, ya, means either go across/cover, widely, extensively, increasingly, or for a long time/forever. So it means something like “What does the Sand Monarch cover?” or “How long will Sand Monarch last?”, as I said before, the Sand Monarch here is likely Leo, since Duel Academia is a fortress built on a Pacific Island, his empire is literally, unironically built on sand.
Natasha’s LP drain effect is likely based off Judai’s Draining Shield, its attack negation effect is likely based off Negate Attack (abused by Judai back in GX), and the control switch effect is a likely reference to Judai’s Mirror Gate. Its statlines reference Judai’s lesser Level 5 Fusions.
Natasha’s artwork features a weird Valkyrie armor, either as a allusion to Siegfried’s Valkyries, or to Mai’s Dunames Dark Witch, or Yuzu’s Valkyrie monsters (Solo, Bloom Prima). Her mask is based off OG Supreme King’s Evil HERO Infernal Gainer’s mask, it is almost a perfect copy.
***
The ARC-V Cyber Angels don’t use standard Kanji, instead go for punny names. Their more organic designs also deviate from original Cyber Angels, though that is expected, since that is the case for all returning archetypes in ARC-V.
The main reason of existing here is because they were not printed back in GX era, so they got printed with the new support. But also Ben Kanji in Benten’s name likely created a connection with Yuzu’s Melodious, with the “sound is flowers” pun going there. As such, Asuka’s ARC-V monsters more closely resemble Melodiouses (and to lesser extent Mieru’s Prediction Princesses), than Ryo’s Cybers, or Judai’s Elemental HEROes.
Natasha’s design basis, Kalki, is also references Reira’s role in the ARC-V finale as the Kalki of Ray, in addition to reference of Asuka being Yuzu’s temporary salvation, and metafictional predecessor.
****
Post-ARC-V one:
*The only one here is Cyber Angel Izana’s Kanji name is 伊舎那, Ishana, is based off Hindu god Ishana (which is believed to be one of the avatars of Shiva), which is adopted in Japanese Buddhism as Ishanaten. Interestingly Izana’s design seem to be based off Ishana’s consort in Japanese Buddhism:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ishana
Īśānī is Īśāna's consort. According to the Secret Storehouse Records (祕藏記) she is flesh white in color and wields a spear.
For why she is named as Izana, as a reference to Izanami/Izanagi in TCG:
According to the Ainōshō, there is a theory that this deity is synonymous with Pāpīyas as well as the Shinto deity Izanagi. The Jinnō Shōtōki also states that there is a theory that the names of Japan's primordial creator gods Izanagi and Izanami are the same as the Sanskrit names Īśāna and Īśānī.
The Kanji 伊, I, doesn’t mean anything on its own (though it means something like you or this in Classic Chinese), 舎, means house or inn, 那, na, is the same as above. So I guess it means something like “Is this your house?”, even though it is meant to be the classic transliteration of Ishana.
This card’s statlines, and effect is based off Idaten, though its multiple attack is based off Elemental HERO Wildedge. Interestingly, this card is more of a parallel to Serena’s Lunalight Leo Dancer, since it was released in same set as its reprint (Duelist Legend 4/Sisters of the Rose). Card destruction effects are based off Idaten, but they might also be inspired by Glow Neos, who also wields a spear.
***
Bonus speed round: Machine Angel cards and Ritual Sanctuary:
*Machine Angel Ritual’s Kanji name is 機械天使の儀式, Kikaitenshi no Gishki, which literally means Ritual of the Mechanical Angel. 機械, kikai refers to the Kanji name of Machine-Type, but literally means Mechanical/Tool, 天使, means tenshi, angel (as in the Fairy-Type), の, no, means of, 儀式, Gishki, means Ritual.
*Machine Angel Absolute Ritual’s Kanji name is 機械天使の絶対儀式, Kikaitensei no Zettaigishki, which literally Absolute Ritual of the Mechanical Angel. The only new Kanji is, 絶対, zettai.
*Incarnated Machine Angel’s Kanji name is 応身の機械天使, Oujin no Kikaitenshi, features 応身, which means nirmanakaya, a concept in Buddhism that means:
https://jisho.org/search/%E5%BF%9C%E8%BA%AB
nirmanakaya (response body, form taken by a buddha according to the capabilities of those who are to be saved)
So it can be translated as Mechanical Angel’s Response Body.
*Merciful Mahine Angel’s Kanji name is 慈悲深き機械天使, Jihibukaki Kikaitenshi, 慈悲深き is a corruption of 慈悲深い, jihibukaku, which means merciful. The suffix き, ki means past tense, so this means Formerly Merciful Mechanical Angel, because the artwork shows Izana in Buddha pose, so this is you, the player, encountering Izana in the Samsara cycle after death. 慈悲, Jihi, literally means compassion, but it refers to Buddhist concept of Karuna. 深, is read as bu here, but actually is spelled fu, and means deep (though it can be apparently read as shin, ie. death).
*Magnificent Machine Angel’s Kanji name is 荘厳なる機械天使, Sogon’naru Kikaitenshi. 荘厳, sogon, can mean grim, stern, sublime, or solem, and なる, means to attain or to become/transform. So it means something like Mechanical Angel Attaining Solemnity.
*Ritual Sanctuary’s Japanese name is 祝福の教会-リチューアル・チャーチ, Shukufuku no Hikai - Richuaru Chachi. The Katakana, リチューアル・チャーチ, is Ritual Church. 祝福, Shukufuku, literally means blessing, but specifically refers to blessings from God in Christianity, 教会, Hikai means church, but specifically refers to Christian Church. So it means something like Church of Holy Blessing - Ritual Church. Peak American Protestantism right here.
****
Other things of note:
*Integration of Shinto-Buddhist-Hindu gods might confuse you, but don’t worry, vast majority of major Shinto Gods are believed to be originating from Hindu Gods, with others being later Chinese additions. Local Gods are largely disconnected from this, though, obviously.
*Isao’s Idaten the Conqueror Star is written in Katakana (覇勝星イダテン, Hashousei Idaten, Victory Star Idaten, lit. Conqueror Victory Star Idaten). This Idaten is written in Hiragana.
*Something I didn’t talk about in the Melodious post, the ha/ka (flower) Kanji used in Melodious is also found in terms relating to ascension/Samsara cycle, which likely ties into whole “Eternal Recurrence” concept that ARC-V uses, which Nietsche adopted from Buddhism/Hinduism/Asian mythologies and their connection to Indo-European myths in general. Because you know, the pendulum swings and back forth, and a theatre play is repeated the same way always with slight differences etc. There is a lot more going on there, since that is the fundamental thesis statement of the show, this is going to be a recurring theme (ha!) in ARC-V related archetypes. (It is also present GX Season 3, and Aporia’s pieces, but both GX, and 5D’s reject circular time theory. ARC-V, on the hand, goes full ham with it.)
Edit: Miswriting, it is Mirror Gate, Mirror Wall is Mai’s card.

For the character ask meme: Hannibal: 1, 2, 21. Ryo: 1, 3, 23. Aaaand Jiang Cheng: 1, 5, 12
Thank you so much, very excited to answer
Hannibal: so excited because I've been rewatching hannibal with my mom so I'm in the deep of it
1. First impression:
Well luckily for me I went into Hannibal also completely blind. I mean, I obviously knew he was a cannibal, but I didn't know how the show was going to portray him, so I spent a lot of time oscillating back and forth between whether I thought they were trying to make him sympathetic or not, if any time he showed emotion was real or not, ect ect. So I would say 🤔 there were a lot of moments in the first episode specifically where he comes across as very false (in regards mostly to will) but also very entertaining still. Cautiously optimistic I suppose, I thought he would be entertaining and interesting, which he was
2. When you truly started to like/dislike:
Funnily enough, I have an answer for both because my feelings on the man changed sporadically. Like wise, pretty hard to tell what moments made me really like him as a character 🤔 I remember thinking it was very fun when he would kill other serial killers or even anytime he gets snappy or annoyed with other people. Just delightful.
Dislike for me would probably be when he killed Beverly :/ still upset about it. And the way he killed her too... probably my most uncomfortable I've felt about any of the deaths in Hannibal. I may have been upset about him killing abigail but I assumed she wasn't actually dead so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
21. When do you think they were at their happiest?
Hard one. There are a lot of good moments to choose from. Tentatively, top three being. Killing with Will (obvious), when Will comes to see him willingly after he's arrested (obvious again), and not really in competition but probably pulling off the entirety of the framing will shifting into framing Chilton (Big payoff of a lot of work and probably in some misguided way thinks that it might get him back into wills good graces. Plus, I think he disliked Chilton a good deal). I'll get back to you after Rewatch finished
Ryo:
First impression:
The first time I saw Ryo was a compilation of funny moments from the OVA's, so I thought he was pretty funny and unhinged. And probably also gay
3. A song that reminds me of them: again, due to meme compilations, boys say go by depeche mode
23. Future headcanon: I'd like to hope a timeline or many where he and everybody else gets to live happily ever after :') and probably a lotta struggle but perhaps also growth
Jiang cheng:
First impression: Well, his first appearance I didn't know which characters would be characters so I only vaguely remember thinking 🤔 he's kinda funny in an awful way, kinda a mean guy. And as they got more into him as a character, tragic
5. Favorite ship with them: Gotta go with wen qing, also the only character I even kinda ship him with. They have fun energy, I only really remember him being like. Decent and nice to her? And the other characters he wasn't terrible to I just don't really see any like romantic potential
12. Sexuality headcanon: oh man I guess straight? Heterosexual? I could maybe see him being asexual or aromantic, but I don't necessarily think he is. Maybe asexual

God Tomodachi life is such a trip, GX tomodachi blogging below
So just a quick recap. I'm playing the American version of the game because I was curious of the differences between EU tomodachi life and USA tomodachi life. God. There's such a huge difference but that's a blog for another time. To the funny.
There are 18 islanders as of now. That being Judai, Asuka, Manjoume, Johan, Yubel, Edo, Fubuki, Ryo, Sho, Rei, Kenzan, Momoe, Junko, Chronos + Napoleon, Martin, Saiou and Mizuchi. I know. So many side character crap but I wanna keep the gender ratio which is Hard when you're basing your tomodachi life island on your very prominently male hyperfixation. The suffering of a shounen enjoyer.
Off the cuff, Judai, surprisingly, decided to play matchmaker with Asuka and Johan. Surprisingly they ended up dating and got married within the first day of getting together. Which is far too fast imo even in this weird world where a gay man marries a woman. In any case, Asuka struck back by matchmaking Judai with Manjoume - therefore Manjoume has won the Judai harem.
Chronos then asks Yubel to be his girlfriend. Three times. First time she rejects him - but he doesn't give up and tries again only for Yubel to not even meet up with him. Second time he tries, he is intervened by Edo, who proclaims his love for Yubel. Yubel chooses Edo and I feel so bad for Chronos that I put Napoleon in the game as a possible love interest.
Ryo and Rei became best friends, which is p wholesome. Sho has hated every single piece of food I have tried to feed him making his happiness unattainable, especially since he refuses to befriend any other miis.
Honestly 10/10 playthrough. I'm quietly waiting for Fubuki and Ryo to become friends. They are the one pairing I am gonna force together. Everything else I'm simply observing with a bizarre curiosity that only a maniac could have. I love this game. May post more updates later.
