Councilman AU: since Jaune is currently with Summer and Tai dealing with the situation in Mistral along with Raven, i was thinking we could see them finally facing Raven and the Branwen Tribe, with the former team members having an intense and dramatic standoff while Councilman Arc...is currently dealing with a flirty Vernal who is excited to have cross paths again.
The air was heavy with a confrontation long in the making. Clouds hung above, thick with impending lightning as a storm was brewing on the ground as well.
"Summer..." Raven gaped. She could not pretend to not care, not when the leader she thought dead was still alive and staring daggers at her.
"Hey, Raven. Guess you never changed, did you?"
Taiyang stayed silent. Part of him was too angry to say anything, part of him knew that Summer had just about as much to say to Raven as he did.
She, Raven, bristled. "You knew of my circumstances and you knew damn well that-"
Taiyang had enough. "Circumstances?" His voice was cold enough to make both women flinch. Neither of them had ever heard this tone out of his mouth. "Like having a child and husband? A baby at home, waiting for her mother to come back to her? Summer had a reason: she actively couldn't. So, what's yours?" He stepped forward, clenching his fists.
"I'm all ears."

Mama Valkyrie: (Screams)
Nora: Mommy? Why are you screaming?
Mama Valkyrie: The wind blew the door open, and it scared me!
Nora: It... scared you? What's scared?
Mama Valkyrie: Well, um, it's like a really bad feeling you get when you think something bad is going to happen to you.
Nora: Like what?
Mama Valkyrie: It's worse if you don't know.
Nora: That's dumb.
Nora: (Leaves without saying good-bye)
Mama Valkyrie: (No longer in this story)

Vernal: Uh, there's a graveyard nearby you could try. Here, bake this cake while you're down there.

Weiss: (Swigs drink) And a toast to the weird girl who swam to the bottom of the ocean to fight me IRL.
Nora: DO YOU- Stop screaming- Do you have another bracelet?
Saphron: (Leads to enchanted treasure hall) Are you sure you don't want anything else?
Nora: (Walking away with bracelet) Nah, I'm good!

Ironwood: I will do no such thing.
Nora: (Walking away happily with bracelets, Sees crowd) What's going on?
Oscar: We're about to have a new king!
Nora: Does that happen a lot?
Oscar: ...No. Anyway, since the king died with no heirs, we have a foolproof plan to determine who our next king will be! See, a pigeon will be released from the top of the castle wall, and whoever it lands on will become our new king!
Nora: Wow! That's so much better than a democratically elected system! Huh? (Pigeon lands on her) Oh. Would you look at that?
Oscar: ALL HAIL THE KING! (Crowd cheers)
Suddenly, Nora feels something. Sees something. She peers into a window of the future, one most uncomfortable. She was bound to a throne, tied by a sense of obligation and responsibility, and forced to spend the rest of her life trying and failing to make the poor richer, the hungry satiated, and the bad better. Never again would she have her freedom to wander and do as she pleased.
Nora's chest became tighter, and her breathing shallower. Her vision began to blur as tears filled her eyes and spilled over from her cheeks. Her heart began to ache so much, she brought a hand to where it tried to rest, and found her arm, her fingers shaking with this strange new emotion! Was... Was this the fear she sought?
Robyn: Huh... She doesn't look to happy.
Nora: My carefree lifestyle! My free time! My vibes!
Qrow: We gotta reassure her! RELEASE MORE PIGEONS!
Nora: (Sobbing, Covered in pigeons) Thanks, you guys... I'm good now... (Crowd cheers)

it's a grimm mask. if its only purpose was to hide her identity as the spring maiden, any mask would do; maria is a proof of that.
"the masks are a symbol. humanity wanted to make monsters out of us, so we chose to don the faces of monsters."
to wear a grimm mask is to wear a symbol; hiding of one's identity with one is almost a secondary function—and the question whether raven wore one to hide her identity as a spring maiden was considered too spoilery to answer after the reveal had already happened.
if that was the sole, even just a main purpose of her grimm mask, by all means the answer should have been a simple "yes".
so really the main question i have at this point is if the 'monster' aspect of it is internal—something raven thinks of herself—or external like with the white fang—something someone else said / thinks of her, and she took it to heart.
something about heroes and monsters. the silver eyes of legendary warriors, the burning red eyes of grimm. the power stories hold. death symbolism and axes; the judge, the jury, and the executioner.
just... raven doesn't have the mask during the flashback.
and she throws it away to reveal she is the spring maiden, as if that's not why it's grimm, that as far as its relation to being spring maiden is concerned, it's purely practical; it hides her identity.

RWBY Vernal’s Allusion
Our catfish queen. The introduction of Vernal has certainly caught us off guard, and her whole Spring Maiden twist at the end of Volume 5 was definitely one of the best in any show ever. Today we’ll dive into her possible character inspiration and how she fits into the general story of RWBY (this might slowly turn into a Weiss analysis down the line)
Vernal is based on the Little Robber Girl (or the Little Robber Maiden) from the Snow Queen story
Let’s look into the story of the Snow Queen, more specifically, the chapter of the Little Robber Maiden. Gerda, the main character, is on a quest to find the Snow Queen. On the way, she is captured by robbers, let by the Old Robber Woman. Her pure golden heart makes her valueable, so she is taken to their base and meets the Little Robber Maiden, the daughter of the Robber Woman. She thinks that Gerda is a new playmate and pursues to hang out with her. I could go on (this story is really long), but from this we have enough to look into.
Winter, Weiss’s sister, is based off the Snow Queen. The reason that Weiss and Winter are sisters is because the story of Snow White is based off of the story the Snow Queen. Since Weiss is looking for Winter (the Snow Queen) in Volume 5, she takes the place of Gerda in this version of the story. She gets picked up by robbers (the Branwen Tribe) led by the Old Robber Woman (Raven Branwen), and meets the Little Robber Maiden (Vernal), who steals her weapon.
Gerda was captured because she was in possession of gold, which could translate to Weiss being taken because of her net worth, and being threatened to be taken back to Atlas for ransom, thus “sending her to the Snow Queen”. Coincidentally, Yang’s appearance is what allowed Weiss to get away from the bandits. The golden heart (Yang) is what helped Gerda (Weiss).
Vernal fights Weiss during the Battle of Haven. This could be a reference to The Robber Maiden wanting to “play” with Gerda, in this instance they’re fighting. We know Weiss loses and that happens, but after being healed by Jaune, summons the Queen Lancer she fought earlier in the volume, representing how the true Snow Queen was inside of her all along.
Vernal’s Weapon: In the story of the Little Robber Maiden, she owns a pet reindeer, who aids Gerda in her quest for the Snow Queen. Vernal’s weapons appear to be deer horn knives, named after their curved shape similar to a deer’s horn. Her weapon may have been inspired by the reindeer from the story.

Semblance Side Effect
An interesting quirk of Raven's semblance is the ability to sense what a person she is connected to is feeling if she concentrates on them. Of course this effect is boosted when the person she is connected with has their aura boosted.
