I feel like Victor is sort of like Vlad at least on the surface level when you first need them then after you get to now him he's emotional resilience, loyalty, protectiveness, and competitiveness as the saying goes don't judge a book by its cover lol
I hope I got the dynamics right

anyway i have been listening to avatar analysis videos and this dude just hit on the thing i've been thinking which is like. one. i don't think it's a cash grab tbf. obviously there are so many flaws and things ppl can dislike about it but it is so obviously something cameron just wanted to bring into being and like if u wanted to bring your own project to life and infuse wonder into it Wouldn't You?? and two is this like a tamsyn muir situation again (tamsyn muir lives in new zealand but ppl were giving her flack for writing harrow and gideon as maōri when she was a white woman even tho the books are Literally About Imperialism among other themes). so much of the discourse surrounding it was fr just saying that cameron was appropriating things + ten thousand other inflammatory things but like it is literally about these people fighting colonizers. the heart of the story is indigenous people trying to protect their home which is not unique to anywhere in the world..... they had new zealand production staff the chief is played by a maōri actor etc... it's just like. man yeah there are going to be flaws there are flaws in everything. obviously i can't say anything to all the indigenous representation and idk what that's doing to help indigenous communities around the world but i really wish people gave things the benefit of the doubt More instead of going oh they made them aliens obviously that's exotification obviously it's going to be bad and they don't see us as people etc
that’s so interesting! now i am so curious
