"romani."
"gudako it is literally two am," the twink man says, pausing his 8th consecutive hour of that one love live gacha. "what do you want."
"we have a problem."
"which is?"
"mcdonalds." saber alter doesnt mince words. shes just fucking hungee, and if she doesnt get some sort of sustenance in the next hour, she will go apeshit.
"the pantry-"
"gone," gawain says it sadly. "even the reserve chips."
"who the fuck ate those??"
gudakos phone buzzes with a twitter DM. 'dont FUCKING tell him or im leaving chaldea' says merlin.
"i dunno man. but the point here is that i want to go to mcdonalds."
"so you came to me??????"
"ya." gudako says flatly. "rayshift us."
romani stares at them for a solid, like, ten seconds. he does the thing where you press your hands together and hold them to your face like youre about to say 'boi.'
"RAYSHIFTING IS FOR EMERGENCIES ONLY AND I THOUGHT WE JUST WENT OVER THIS YESTERD-"
"saber alter is about to murder everyone in here and then herself my dude." gudako gestures to the increasingly pissed salter.
romani does a little option weighing in his head. hmm.... "ok FINE but this is the last time."
and so romani rayshifts saber alter, gawain, bedivere, not mash because shes asleep soundly, and gudako to a mcdonalds in the middle of nowhere in the united states.
"hey," gudako almost falls out of the rayshift portal. "can i get a fucking uhh.." she counts the number of people in the room. "three happy meals and one (1) triple cheeseburger?"
"maam with all due respect what the fuck." the employee is hakunon kishinami actually. after they woke up from cryostasis and rani found them, they were like well humanity has collapsed essentially im going to go to micky ds and get a job.
"you heard her." saber alter says. "triple. cheese. burger."
"alright........" hakunon is actually kind of scared because they recognize salter as someone who looks like nero but evil and thats not ok. they are also is scared of gawain because what the actual fuck they just had to murder his master why is this strange person commanding him now.
about 5 (five) seconds later, the gang has their happy meals. the staff was scared out of their minds because salter threatened to release her noble phantasm on them if they didnt "give me my fucking burger you absolute useless and worthless humans."
"thanks," bedivere who has been (rightfully) silent this entire time says as he recieves his happy meal, complete with a toy.
"this place is a freakshow. i literally respect only you and gawain." gudako replies. salter is busy yelling at the staff because they forgot her pickles. also she might have excalibur morgan'd through a wall. whoops, thinks gudako, i aint paying for that.
"fucking GOD," salter finishes yelling. "i HATE humans." she takes her burger from the poor motherfucker who had to serve it to her and almost (ALMOST) bites directly into the box (shes like a goat, she can eat anything and make it into magical energy) before remembering that cardboard probably tastes like shit.
"wow." gawain has no words for the ~evil~ version of the king of knights who just fucking obliterated an ENTIRE wall of mcdonalds. "can we leave?"
"yea," gudako texts romani: 'yo dude salter just almost killed the staff PLEASE GOD rayshift me back'.
approx. 5 mins later, at 2:10 am, the knights of the round minus a few of them and plus gudako are eating their happy meals in gudakos room. some servants like sleeping in there cause gudako keeps their room super warm. and its cold at chaldea. also saber alter steals their blankets sometimes which isnt very nice.
"so what are we doing tomorrow?" gawain asks, in the middle of munching on like 4 fries at once for maximum fry consumption efficiency.
"dunno. probably playing minecraft."
"ooh my favorite," bedivere says. hes eating his chicken nuggies with his regular arm as to not mess up his silver arm (which makes no sense, why wouldnt he just not get grease on his regular arm??). "i plan to help gawain with farming."
"the best part of minecraft." gawain says.
saber alter is in the corner, silent, eating her triple cheeseburger. "yo you good?" gudako asks. they dont get a reply.
everyone eventually finishes eating. "im super tired." gudako says. "gonna bounce. i might do some ember farming tho, so dont stay up too late."
at approx. 8 am, gudako gets a text from romani that says 'FINISHED PREP TO RAYSHIFT INTO BABYLONIA MEET ME AT 9 AM!!!!!!'
"oh god fucking damn it," gudako says aloud. they literally just woke up.
"huh?" gawain asks. hes been awake probably the entire night. he likes to play minecraft super late.
"babylon." gudako replies. "euuuuruuurrhghjhhjhhjggjj......"

Always - Part 5
KEY:
Thoughts
~Dream~
*** Time jump
~~~ Flashback
[His POV]
             My arm shook violently causing me to jump awake. I ripped the hand away from my skin while my eyes adjusted to the light coming from the flashlight. It was just Ellie. My breathing calmed and heartrate slowed. I was worried we were under attack. “What the hell do you want?” I know my voice was stern and frustrated but I couldn’t help but be irritated with her.
             She started to say something but quit and shook her head. “Nevermind. It’s not a big deal. I’m sorry for upsetting you.” She took a step back from the bed I slept in and watched me for a second before turning around and leaving. She closed the door with a thud. What the fuck is wrong with her? Doesn’t she know better than to wake me like that?
             I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair. I laid back down and closed my eyes, but I couldn’t go back to sleep. Her eyes were filled with worry and sadness. I pushed her off and treated her rudely. I stood and walked towards the door. I didn’t have a flashlight, so I walked with my hand against the wall until I felt the knob of her door. I twisted the nob slowly and found her in bed crying. The flashlight still on and lighting up the room slightly. The dog laid at her feet, but provided no comfort.
             “Why ya cryin?” She turned to face me and shook her head.
             “It’s not important. I’m being stupid and childish.” I stood there in the doorway waiting for a real answer. She chewed at her lip and looked up at me expectantly. “Would you stay with me…?” I nodded and walked over to the bed. I pulled back the covers and climbed in. She immediately wrapped her arms around me and hid her face against my neck. I wrapped my arms around her and held her close. She gripped onto the t-shirt I was wearing. I gently traced my fingers up and down her spine. This is exactly where I want to be. I want to sleep like this every night. I want her with me, always.
             Her body relaxed against mine and she fell asleep but I continued to gently run my fingers over the small of her back. The skin was exposed and felt soft under the touch of my calloused fingers. I couldn’t help but smile at the situation. The girl I love is wrapped in my arms and she wants me here.
[Her POV]
             “Would you stay with me…?” I knew it was a stupid question to ask but I hoped he would. I hated being alone and the storm outside only made it worse. He nodded his head and quickly moved some pillows so he would have room in the bed. He scooped me up in his arms and I laid across his chest. I pressed my face into his neck and inhaled his scent. I never wanted to move.
             My arms wrapped tightly around him. I knew he wasn’t one for physical affection but he seemed perfectly at ease with me touching him. He’s probably too tired to care. I intertwined my legs with his and gripped tightly to the fabric of his shirt. His arms held me tightly while his hand softly rubbed my back. I knew something was on his mind, but I didn’t ask. I felt my eyes get heavy and I started to doze off but not before feeling his lips against my forehead. “I love you, girl.” He whispered. I kept my eyes closed and my face expressionless.
             He thinks I’m asleep. I want to tell him but I know I can’t. He wouldn’t say those words to me if I were awake and I’m not gonna push him. My thoughts wandered but I was asleep quickly.
***
             Thunder boomed and pulled me from my sleep. I reached out to grab Daryl’s hand, but the bed was empty. I sat up and looked around. He put you to sleep and left. He didn’t really want to stay. I laid back down and pulled the covers over my head and tried to block out the noise. The thunder was relentless.
Something tugged at the blankets and then a voice murmured, “I’m right here, babe. Let me back in. It’s chilly.” I flipped open the blankets and Daryl settled back into his spot from earlier in the night. I took his hand and held it but he had other ideas. He pulled me into his muscular arms and held me closely. I could hear his heartbeat and every breath he took. The sounds were comforting.
“Where were you?”
He laughed a little but answered my question. “I needed a drink so I was downstairs.” I thought about his answer and his fingers made their way to my hair. He gently played with it and massaged my scalp. I relaxed into his hold and drifted off to sleep.
[His POV]
             The sun streamed in through the curtains. I opened my eyes and expected her to be there. I rolled over to grab her and pull her into me, but the space beside me was empty and cold. I sat up and rubbed my eyes. There was no sound in the house. I went and dressed in the other room before heading outside to her. She would have been a great sight to see first thing in the mornin.
A rustling came from behind the barn. I rested my hand on my knife as I rounded the corner but it was Ellie. She stepped out of an RV holding a trash bag and tossed it onto a pile of other trash bags. “Mornin, doll,” I called to her. She jumped when she heard the sound but she smiled at me. She’s not yours and you know it. You’ve never even made a move dumbass.
“D’ya wanna help me out?” Her voice was breathless and sweat beaded on her forehead. I nodded and followed her into the RV. We cleaned the entire thing, top to bottom. “I wanna get this thing ready to move. I want this to be a mobile storage unit. And if not this, then that,” she said while pointing to the eighteen-wheeler truck. “Dad was a trucker, and that thing stands against anything. It has a wrecker on it right now, so it can haul other vehicles. Or we can hook it up to the other trailer.” I watched her mouth as she spoke. I wanted to feel her lips on mine. I wanted to drag my lips across her entire body.
[Her POV]
             I don’t think he’s even listening to me. He’s just staring off into space. I chewed on my lip nervously. “Hey, uh, Daryl?” He looked up at me. “I jus wanted to thank ya for coming and staying with me last night. I know you’re not one for physical stuff and such so it won’t happen again but thank you.” He smiled but it didn’t reach his eyes.
             “Yur welcome. Now, how about you take a break and we eat sumthin? I’m starved.” I nodded and followed his lead back to the house. I didn’t eat much. I pushed the food around my plate and picked at it with my fork. I dumped it in the dog’s bowl and started washing up. The temperature raised outside and it was too hot to continue working. I laid out on the living room floor. The tile was cool against my legs. I opted for shorts this morning.
             The day passed slowly. Reading books did not make the time go by any faster. Daryl had been in and out of the house. When he finally settled in, it was nearly seven. I continued laying on the floor like I had for the past five hours. He sat on the couch beside me and looked down at me. “Whatcha doin on the floor, girl?” I shrugged my shoulders and continued to stare at the ceiling. I didn’t want to tell him that I was having an off day or that my depression was affecting me. “Ya know ya can tell me anythin right?”
             “I don’t like to talk about it.”
[His POV]
             I dropped the subject and moved to the floor to lay next to her. She gently took my hand in hers and we laid like that for a while. The sun set completely and the house was dark. I hadn’t started a fire tonight and she hadn’t turned on any lamps. She sighed deeply before pushing herself to get up. “I’m going to bed. Goodnight, Dare.” Her voice was soft and sleepy. I nodded in response and watched as she made her way up the stairs. Maybe I should offer to stay with her again. I slept better with her than without. I want to fall asleep with her.
             I followed her pursuit a few moments later but when I reached the top of the stairs, she had already turned out her bedroom light and closed her door. I solemnly walked back to the room I slept in and laid down.
             I tossed and turned for hours before getting up from the bed. I yanked on some pajama pants and walked down the hall. I opened her door. She was sleeping peacefully. I pulled the covers back and climbed in with her. She startled and jumped. I hushed her and calmed her down.
             “What are you doing in here, Dare?” she whispered.
             “Can’t sleep…need you…” I mumbled back while falling asleep with her in my arms.
             “Dare? Can I ask you sumthin?” I nodded yes. “What’s this gonna be? Are we sleeping together now? Are we together? What is this gonna be? I need to know the boundaries.”
             I thought on it for a minute. “We ain’t nothin you don’t wanna be. You set the boundaries and I’ll follow. You’re in charge, doll.” She turned to face me and she gently pressed her fingertips against my cheek. She stroked my hair with her other hand and closed her eyes. “I’m gonna do sumthin. I’m not sure how it’ll go cuz I’m not good with this stuff but I wanna try. Don’t move,” I told her. She froze in her place and watched me with curious eyes.
             I leaned in closer and placed one of my hands on her cheek and jaw and tangled the other in her hair. Her eyes fluttered closed and I eliminated the distance. My lips were against hers. Her lips were soft and full. I wanted more. I locked lips with her again and gently pushed my tongue against her bottom lip. She opened her mouth slightly and fought me for dominance in the kiss. I won and my tongue grazed against hers. I pulled back after a moment and caught my breath. Her breathing was jagged and her cheeks were heated. She hid her face in my neck and wrapped her frame around mine.
             Neither of us said anything but instead we enjoyed the moment. There’s no telling how many of these we will get. I held her close and wished to feel her lips again but I refused to push her. She fell asleep laying on my bare chest. Her legs were wrapped with mine. The warmth and comfort of her body put me to sleep.
You got me begging you for mercy
Tumblr media
To my Friends, Family and all Readers,
Welcome to my first blog. Every week I will be posting a story ‘loosely based’ on my life in Australia since 1982. My aim is to provide a little escapism in a sometimes-hard world and to hopefully make you laugh. The content will be mature themed as I am in no way attempting to be a role-model!
Happy reading my Darlings
Let me know what you think.
Ju xx
Perth, Australia.
January 1995
It was a Sunday night and I had just put my daughter Alice to bed. The house was red hot, the windows were wide open and there wasn’t a breeze; it was like living inside a sweaty sock. Summer in Perth can be brutal and it is a dry, burning heat that scorches the hair on your arms and rips the skin off your feet if you try and walk barefoot outside. The temperature had hit forty degrees that day and I only had two stand-up fans, so a load of our family and friends had been swimming at the local pool.
We got home and Alice, who was about five years old, spent about two hours in a cold bath – in her bathers, underwater, face-down and pretending to be dead! My job was to run in and rescue her every so often but I kept forgetting. I gave the nickname ‘Insane Alice’ to my daughter when she was very young because she was my wild, brave, curious nutcase, who always had something to say and most of it was somewhat demented. Over the years, we dropped the Insane bit and it was just Alice, but to tell the truth, she’s still a bit touched.
My Father called her ’his Alice’ for thirty years.
So, my exhausted daughter was now asleep with a wet towel on top of her and a fan blowing hot air around her room.
Walking into the kitchen, I stuck my head under the cold tap until my hair and face were soaking wet. Grabbing an ice-cold beer from the fridge, I wandered out to the garden and laid back on an old lounger. Tracey Chapman was singing about a fast car as I lit a fag and skulled my beer.
The house was like a furnace and there was no reprieve outside. From November to March, you went to bed sweating and you got up the same way. We lived in a low-income area and nobody had air-conditioning; you just had to deal with the heat.
At that time, single mothers didn’t get to choose the houses with alarm systems and swimming pools. We could only afford tired, old rentals with dripping taps and broken flyscreens and to make matters worse, I was cleaning two ‘beach-front’ mansions a day while Alice was at school.
 #These were palaces, with huge swimming pools, wine cellars and balconies overlooking the blue ocean and I earned a pittance. I had to shut my mouth like Ruby from ‘Upstairs, Downstairs’ when the ‘lady of the house’ complained about smears on the bathroom mirror or dust on the roof because I needed the money.
Looking around now, my poor garden looked so sad; that unrelenting ball of fire had burnt the beautiful flowers I had planted and singed the lawn so badly that it was now just dry, straw.
I was feeling a bit weird and conflicted because everyone around me seemed to think that I should be trying to find a man to ‘look after me and be a father to Alice.’ Don’t get me wrong, it was said with kindness, but I was bored of the whole thing.
Thirty years ago, there was a real stigma attached to being a single mother. If your marriage failed but the dad was still on the scene with the kids, that was ok. If there was no father in sight, it played with people’s heads.
I chose to leave Alice’s father when she was a baby and bring up my daughter alone and I loved it.
I didn’t have a man and I didn’t really want one.
But some people just weren’t comfortable with it. Was I a lesbian? Did I hate men? Was I flirting with their man? They wanted to set me up with their husband’s mate from Bunnings and it was all, ‘We’ve got to find you a nice fella’ and ‘you can’t be too fussy.’ What a cheek! I was thirty years old with no visible hump on my back. Who were they thinking of wheeling in? Alf F##king Stewart?’’
There was a lot of pressure
And It wasn’t like I hadn’t tried.
I’d been to Bachelor and Spinster Balls, joined ‘Parents Without Partners’ (very creepy) and even went to ’Japanese conversation ‘night classes because everyone told me ‘There are loads of divorced men learning languages now Ju. There will be blokes everywhere.’          The only man I ever spoke to was wearing a grey cardigan and had just retired from the civil service.
God knows I tried
And I was about to try again
In 1995, there was no tinder or instant messaging because there were no mobile phones or computers (well not in our house anyway). People had to leave their residence and go hunting in pubs and clubs on a Saturday night for their own Brad Pitt or Pamela Anderson and it was utterly soul destroying.
But I had the Wanneroo Times and I was on a mission.
This local community newspaper had started printing adverts in their classifieds for single people wanting to meet a partner. It was basically, ‘man seeking woman’ or ‘woman seeking man’. Then, everybody told massive lies about themselves; ‘very attractive, happy go lucky, no baggage, loves a good red wine and walking on the beach at sunset.’ It was ridiculous but that didn’t stop me filling in the form.
My advert said,
If you are a sports fanatic and watch it on tv all weekend – read on
If you are bitter about your wife taking everything from you in the divorce, we’ve already met - read on
If you like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain, warm winter fires, bubble baths and collecting driftwood. Stop reading Sir, for you are a dead set serial killer.
I didn’t say much about me, just,
’blonde, thirty, likes to write.’
And I posted it off.
It took a week to receive any responses.
I’d been watching ‘Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves’ and wondering how I could get in touch with Kevin Costner to tell him I was waiting for him here; in the hottest, most isolated corner of the world!
But I was feeling quite hopeful and ready for some romance in my life. I spent most of the week singing ‘You know it’s true, everything I do, I do it for you.’
On a Monday morning, the postman dropped an official looking, brown envelope into my post box and I had seven letters!!
Buzzing with excitement, I made a cup of coffee, lit a fag and opened the first one.
He had a wife but they didn’t sleep together. He desperately needed passion in his life, maybe two afternoons a week! Yeh right, dream on!
Three more were married and just wanted a bit on the side.
My fifth would-be suitor boasted of a body tattooed from his neck to his toes and a willingness to provide colour photos. I just couldn’t stomach it!
And the sixth little gem was a smooth-talking illiterate who claimed to be a ‘mad rooter’ but added that, ’If I was a ‘Fat Sheila,’ then not to bother eh!’
I could feel a black depression impending; Was I supposed to settle for this group of no-hopers?
But there was one letter remaining and that was written by a man named Fred.
Fred was English and had been in Perth for a couple of years. He worked in some office and liked Guinness. That was good enough for me!
We spoke on the phone a couple of times and met for a quick coffee. He was a nice bloke and didn’t seem to be deranged. He asked me to go to the movies to see ’Braveheart’ and I said ‘’lovely.’’
So, its Friday night and I am sorted. Alice is staying at my parents’ house and I have a date!
The Commitments are slaying Mustang Sally and I am drinking a vodka and tonic. My hair is a work of art! It has been washed, blow- dried, straightened, back-combed and gelled, plus I’ve used half a can of hairspray, so this hairdo is not shifting.
On goes the make-up, a pair of jeans that are much too small and a black shirt. Sounds simple doesn’t it?
But it is still 32 degrees at 6.30pm and the sweat is dripping down my back. I am sitting on an ice pack with my feet in a bowl of cold water and the pedestal fan is coughing, stale air at me like an old family dog. The jeans are slowly roasting my legs, the underneath of my hair is soaking wet and the makeup is dripping off my face.
But I don’t care, because I’m looking good, the house smells of ’Red Door’ perfume and I’ve had a few puffs of a lovely old joint I found on top of the kitchen cupboard.
I am ready for action!
Fred turned up at about seven and he looked very smart with jeans and a blue shirt. He was quite a portly fellow, very suntanned and with a completely bald head. I don’t know if he’d ever had any hair and I didn’t really care.
I was flying!
We were a bit early for the movies so we went for a drink first. The pub was practically empty but the night was young, so I told Fred that it was my shout. He asked the ‘gothic and heavily pierced’ barmaid, if she could make him a flat, white coffee and she looked at him with complete disgust. I ordered a double vodka and we sat down for a chat. I really wanted to find Fred attractive but he wasn’t giving me much.
He had a very strong Yorkshire accent and was into cycling and re-cycling. He started telling me about sustainable compost heaps and I just glazed over.
But, as I sat looking at him, the room started spinning and Fred began to morph into Dierdre Barlow from Coronation Street and a brown, boiled egg.
That old puff was strong!
’’I’m that choofed you chose me lass,’’ he said ‘’and I’m having a grand time, but I’m not one for the drink.’’
’Jesus Christ! When am I going to cop a break?’ I thought, ‘I’m a thirty-year-old woman wearing skin tight jeans and high heels. My legs are shaved, my elbows moisturised and I HAVE THE HOUSE TO MYSELF!! Who gives a shit about recycling?
I didn’t want to talk about Fred’s ‘loovely bunch of lasses at work’ or ’the benefits of riding a bicycle.’
My life consisted of chicken nuggets, nit shampoo and a daughter who was obsessed with a demonic dessert called Strawberry Shortcake. This nauseating strawberry cake had three best friends called Apple Dumpling, Raspberry Tart and Cherry Cuddler. They sounded like a bunch of sex workers and their pimp was a freak called ‘The Prickly and Peculiar Pieman from Porcupine Creek. Alice had it on an old video and played it constantly. She had been speaking in an American accent for about three weeks and I was over it!
 I wanted to act like a teenager. To get absolutely wasted, fall-down drunk and extremely immature. I wished Fred would suggest a drinking game so that we could get really loud and find everything hysterical. I needed him to make me laugh because that is sexy. I wanted to completely skip the bloody movie altogether!
Nah, take that back.
Fred was, in fact, an egg that spoke with a Yorkshire accent and he was boring me to death.
So, we walked to the cinema and bought our own tickets, (very civilised), then I was straight into the Candy Bar. Buying a very expensive choc- top ice-cream and some popcorn, I asked Fred what he was having and he said,
’’Nah, I’ll not have owt, I’m watching me weight.’’
That really irritated me because I’d been considering a box of Maltesers too and now I couldn’t have them because I would look like a pig.
We found two seats in the middle row. The place was packed out because it was the first night the film was showing.
‘’So, Fred, what’s this Braveheart about then? It’s not going to be all blood and gore is it?’’ I asked.
“I don’t know Julie, I haven’t seen it,’’ he said, but it translated to, ’’Ah doon’t know jooleh, I’ve not seen film.’’
Now, don’t forget, I was deep in the grip of Sherwood Forrest and I thought Braveheart would be similar; some battles, dodgy accents, a love story, some fantastic one-liners ‘a la’ Alan Rickman.
I thought wrong.
The beginning of the film showed the beauty of Scotland with some hauntingly lovely music and a softly-spoken narrator. By the time I had eaten my choc-top, there were bodies of men, women and children hanging from beams, heads chopped off and the stabbing and slashing of everyone in sight; including the poor horses.
I was in a hell of a state!
Alice always compares me to the late, great, British comedian Larry Grayson when I am out of my comfort zone and am shocked or horrified. I get flustered and loud, highly camp and completely over the top.
I have to have things explained to me very clearly.
This film was way beyond my comfort zone.
My hands were over my eyes and all you could hear from me was ‘’Oh my God, when are they going to stop killing?”  ‘’Oh, that’s gross!’’  ‘’I can’t look!’’  ‘’Why is there so much blood?’’ ‘’What’s happening Fred?”
And then an English soldier ties Braveheart’s beautiful bride to a tree.
I’m thinking, ‘’hurry up Wallace and save your woman.’’
Everyone is waiting for Mel to rescue her but he’s missing in action.
And the English Bast##d slits her throat!
Now, we still had about three more hours of this film to endure and the main character’s wife was dead. I just couldn’t believe it. She was exquisite, almost heavenly.
What was going on?
Í nudged Fred, ‘’What’s happening Fred? Is it a flashback or a dream? Is she coming back?’’
I was beside myself.
Fred was getting a little snippy at my endless questions and bad language because I couldn’t stop saying ‘’Oh F#ck’’ every time a limb was chopped off and it was constant carnage. It simply never stopped.
There was a teenage boy and his girlfriend sitting next to me and I tearfully asked the boy what he thought was going on. Did he think the lovely Marrun was coming back? Was it a flashback? He just looked horrified and two minutes later they both left.
So, now I’m crying and it’s serious. I’m absolutely gutted about useless Wallace not getting there in time and I don’t really feel like watching anymore.
Worse though, I haven’t got a tissue!
I am sobbing and my nose is running and I am doing that unattractive, hiccupy thing.
Fred’s forgotten his handkerchief and I’m hyperventilating and trying to quell my hysteria. But it’s just so sad and all you can hear in the whisper quiet audience are my racking sobs and sniffs. In the end, I had to use a KitKat wrapper and the sleeve of my top to wipe my nose. (yeh, I know, disgusting).
So now I’ve got to sit through another 150 minutes of butchery and treachery, heads in the mail, people being thrown out of windows and the mass raping of young maidens. It was relentless and I was suffering very loudly.
Fred was peeved, “Nah then, Jooleh, joost try to be a tad quieter pet. I can’t ‘ear film.’’
I was frazzled and I hadn’t even got to the torture of William Wallace.
What a joy that was!
About thirty minutes of Mel being hung, drawn and quartered very slowly with some lethal weapons (sorry, I had to).
First, he spits out the anaesthetic drug the princess slips him and then he refuses to shout ‘mercy’ to end his own torture. It was all too much and I kept shouting ‘mercy’ at the screen and crying loudly, but Mel just kept hanging on in there.
William Wallace was no pussy!
Eventually though, all the organs have been removed from his body and he has to die.
In his last few seconds alive he sees his wife, Murron, walking through the crowds, waiting for him and she is so beautiful, it’s heart breaking. Braveheart shouts ‘Freedom’ and I’m completely finished.
Before anyone could move, I was out of my seat. ’’I’ll see you in the foyer Fred,” I sobbed and ran to the toilets before the lights came on.
My body was shaking, my legs were like jelly and I was sweating. I felt like I had given birth to ten-pound triplets in an African hut, alone and without pain relief!
Then I saw my face in the mirror and stopped dead.
The old mascara I had found in the kitchen drawer was not waterproof and I had these black spider lines all down my cheeks. My eyes were smudged with dark grey eyeshadow, my nose was bright red and my face was blotchy and oily, with no trace of a base!
For some reason, my hair had also suffered and it looked like a yellow bird’s nest that had been sat on.
I hadn’t brought a handbag out with me, just a small purse, so the only things I had to rescue this complete disaster was a ten dollar note, a factor 30 lip balm and a furry tic-tac.
Everybody was coming into the lady’s toilets now and they were all looking at me. One girl came over and pretended to care but I saw straight through her. I’d heard some of her friends laughing at me during the torture scene.
I didn’t have a spare head so there wasn’t much I could do. I just washed my face, blew my nose and went out to meet Fred. I refused to look him straight in the eye though because I was hideous.
As we drove back to my place, the car was silent and I knew that Fred was sulking.
He eventually said ‘’Appen, A’Il see film again wit’ lasses from work. I missed most of it!’’
I thought, ‘’Oh do one, you Bloody tart, you are definitely not coming in for coffee.’’
We hit my driveway and I jumped out of the car like an Olympian.
Fred said something that sounded like ‘’See thee soon then Lass’’ and I said ‘’lovely.’’
Slamming the front door, I felt shell-shocked.
I jumped under a cold shower, washed off all the makeup and gunk from my hair and tied an old sarong around myself. Making a cup of tea and some toast with Nutella, I grabbed the remote and sat on the sofa.
Two minutes later, it was just me and Kevin.
I didn’t think I would ever hear from Fred again, but he rang a few nights later while I was watching ‘Home and Away‘ with Alice.
‘’Ow do Jooleh love, can ya guess where I am?’’ he asked jovially.
I froze. Oh my God.
“You’re not outside are you Fred? ’I asked,
‘’Nah’’, he chuckled, ‘’I’m lyin’ in’t cold tub, sipping hot brew and eating an apple pie. Blooody Bliss!’’
I hung up the phone and we never went out again.
Dating makes me realise why I’m not married!
If you liked this story, there’s a lot more to read because Alice and I have been writing tales ‘loosely based’ on our lives for many years, with the hope of finally finishing a book called ’A Mother like mine.’ Every Saturday, I will be publishing a blog so that you can read it over the weekend. Sometimes, Alice will write one too.
We will talk about love, losses and dating disasters, womanhood, teenage years and being a Welsh, single parent family in a rough-arse suburb of Perth in the nineties; from our two, completely different perspectives. I will even tell you how my true love literally walked through my front door and I almost took Alice to live in Texas! Our stories will be mostly funny but there will also be our recollection of some hard times. Nobody escapes them and sometimes it helps to read about other people’s battles.
 Future titles include;
‘The Good, The Bad and the Aussies’
‘A Gang of Gary’s’
‘Doyawannarootorwhat’
‘Sorry about my little fella?’
‘Six months pregnant or a Tattoo?’
All American Road Trip
Chapter One: Get out the Map | Chapter Two: (A Very Little) Leg Room | Chapter Three: (You’re) Gonna Sing the Words Wrong | Chapter Four: You Make Me Live | Chapter Five: Count Only Blue Cars
Chapter Six: Reignite Your Memory
Hey, wake up, your eyes weren't open wide For the last couple of miles you've been swerving from side to side You're gonna make me spill my beer, If you don't learn how to steer Passenger side, passenger side, I don't like riding on the passenger side --Passenger Side, Wilco
“Okay, so we have a spare,” Sam said, in that voice. Steve was getting ridiculously familiar with that voice. The one that vaguely reminded him of his mother, dead so very long ago. She’d had that same sort of fond, hands on her hips, look what this idiot has done, tone.
“I’m sensing a but, here,” Steve said. He set out the road flares.
“You’ve got one following you around,” Sam said. He leaned against the open trunk and gave Steve a long look, raking him up and down. “I mean, you could be one of those rap guys' girlfriends.”
“What?” Steve crinkled up his forehead.
“He means your ass is huge, Stevie,” Buck piped up. He was still poking around in the trunk and through their gear that they’d unloaded, as if extra looking would make a miracle happen.
“Nice, though,” Sam pointed out. “If you like that kinda ass. If that was the sort of ass you’d want to tap--”
Buck grabbed a crowbar out of the trunk and waved it threateningly in Sam’s direction, then scoffed, disgusted. “It’s a rap song, Stevie. Jesus Christ, you been awake like five years, ain’t you paid attention t’ nothin’?”
“Been a little busy saving the world, Buck,” Steve said, crossing his arms over his chest. He manfully resisted the urge to lean against the car as well so that Sam couldn’t see the ass he was commenting about. Steve wasn’t quite sure what was going on there; Sam had never flirted with Steve before. He had to assume, therefore, that Sam was doing it just to get under Buck’s skin.
(mobile users, beware the read more, or read the entire fic on A03)
Buck rubbed at the side of his face with his middle finger. “Too busy t’ listen t’ music? Too busy t’ read any books? Stevie, you ain’t livin’, you’re just survivin’.”
He was still working on a response to that with more class than “fuck you, too, pal” when Sam added, “He ain’t lyin’, Steve. You had a whole list of stuff you wanted to try, when we met. You ever make it through that list? You ever figure out what makes you happy?”
“Before we start on a general critique of my life, you think you can tell me what’s distressing about the tire?”
“No jack,” Buck said, succinctly. “Not a problem, really.”
Sam stopped giving Steve the “I’m waiting” look to flatly stare at Bucky. “What’s not a problem?”
“Car only weighs in ‘bout four thousand pounds,” Buck said, reasonably. “An’ you got two supersoldiers, s’long as you know how to change a damn tire--” Buck raised an eyebrow as if he wouldn’t be shocked to discover that Sam was, indeed, lacking in that skill “--we can hold up th’ car for a bit. Jus’ make sure you put on th’ parking brake.”
“You’re going to hold. Up. The. Car?”
“Yeah?”
“Can you pick up a car, Steve?” Sam asked, incredulous.
“Can? Yeah, I think so,” Steve said. He hadn’t ever exactly checked. There had been a whole list of tests that Erskine wanted to perform on him, after Project Rebirth went through; Steve had gotten a look at the list, and with a little concentration, even now, he could bring those things to mind. Some of them had been repetitions of tests that he’d done before they’d injected him, so there could be a direct comparison. How much did he weigh, how much could he deadlift. How long could he hold his breath? How far could he throw a five pound object?
There’d been other things, under Erksine’s heading of For Science that Steve wasn’t too sure of, either. Average sperm count. Refractory time. Performance issues? Steve rolled his eyes. He wasn’t sure there weren’t a group of scientists in a basement somewhere who still jerked it to his file. There’d been some photographs taken for that line of questioning, too. Steve wondered if Stark would be interested in helping him get those files back so Steve could burn them, or if Stark already had them. Steve’s mouth twitched a little.
“More a matter of getting th’ proper leverage,” Buck was saying when Steve tuned back into the conversation. “Ain’t like a car’s made t’ be picked up by the door--”
“--or the steering wheel,” Sam interrupted.
“If I said I’s sorry ‘bout that, would you let it die?” Bucky demanded.
“Ain’t likely,” Sam responded.
“Good. Because I ain’t sorry,” Bucky said, his mouth turning up at the corner, just a little. “But yeah, if Stevie an’ I can get a good grip, we can lift the car, no problem.”
“Yeah,” Steve added in, “When Bucky says don’t make him turn this car around, he means it.”
“You can pick up a car?” Sam turned that question on Bucky, this time. Repeating it, like he didn’t believe them. “Like, the whole car?”
“You wanna show him, pal, or should I?” Steve asked.
Buck sighed. He dropped to the ground, slithered under the car, and with a grunt, pushed the car up. He was balancing it, feet on the undercarriage, hands spread wide to hold the weight. “This ain’t the best position t’ lift for a tire, change, but yeah, I can lift the whole fuckin’ car.”
“How is that even possible?” Sam demanded. “I mean, fuck the muscles, man, you both got muscles, but how do your bones take that kind of stress.”
“Very well, thank you,” Steve said. “Put the car down and stop showing off.”
“Pick the car up, Bucky,” Buck said. “Put the car down, Bucky. Sheesh.”
“That should not even be possible,” Sam said.
Steve shrugged. He wasn’t the science guy; even though he’d had a pretty good brain before Erskine had started his experiments -- his dismal grades in school had reflected his many illnesses rather than his intelligence -- and afterward, he’d gotten a memory like a steel trap and the ability to see and analyze patterns, but he still didn’t understand Erskine’s thought patterns that had made Project Rebirth a success. He only knew what he could do, and half the time he didn’t even know that until he tried it.
He rather suspected Buck had been thoroughly tested. That his abilities were as well known to him as they had been to Hydra. He didn’t ask about that.
There were a lot of things that happened to Buck under Hydra’s control that Steve didn’t want to ask about. He was pretty sure those things would scar his soul.
It’s enough. We got him back.
He hadn’t said a word, but Buck seemed to have also developed some sort of ability to read Steve’s mind. Or maybe it was a gift, from having known each other so long. Buck put the car back on the ground, clawed his way out from under it, and patted Steve on the shoulder. “I’m okay, pal,” Buck said.
“Yeah, okay,” Steve responded, blowing out a breath. “Where do you want me to stand while we change this tire?”
Buck showed him where the jack-grooves were. “Lift there. An’ don’t pull too hard, or the a-frame’ll come right out an’ then we’ll be in trouble.”
“Well, we wouldn’t want that,” Steve said, mildly.
“Get ready t’ change the tire, fast as you can.”
Sam loosened the bolts and on a count of three, Steve and Buck lifted the car about a foot and a half to let Sam work on it.
The car wasn’t heavy. Not the way Steve had thought about heavy, back in the day when he weighed about ninety pounds with his clothes on, but it had also been a long, long time since Steve had felt anything heavy, or anything like muscle-strain.
The car was… just awkward. Holding it at a precision height, knees bent in a half-squat, fingers with the pads flat against the metal because he didn’t want to dig his nails into the material and rip it free. And knowing he probably could do those things, if he wanted to.
Had he ever, really, cut loose? Analyzed what he could do, just to see, and not because lives would be lost if he didn’t actually manage to jump across the factory floor while it was on fire?
“Don’t get any bright ideas, pal,” Bucky said. “I ain’t fixin’ to go fetch this piece o’ shit if you throw it halfway down the road, there.”
It's an itch we know we are gonna scratch Gonna take a while for this egg to hatch But wouldn't it be beautiful Here we are, we're at the beginning We haven't fucked yet, but my heads spinning Why can't I breathe whenever I think about you Why can't I speak whenever I talk about you It's inevitable, it's a fact that we're gonna get down to it So tell me Why can't I breathe whenever I think about you --Why Can’t I, Liz Phair
Supersoldiers were fucking show offs, Sam thought, resentment burning just a little in the back of his brain.
Wasn’t it bad enough that they were both drop-over gorgeous? Brilliant in combat, expert tacticians. Barnes was a marksman, beyond what any training should have compensated for. Sam had seen him take a shot without even looking, using his ears like some sort of sonar, triangulation shit, and how was that even fair?
And then there was the shared hivemind thing they had going on. Sam wondered if they even noticed that they were going it; sentences flowed from one of them to the other, even if Barnes was only commenting or agreeing with the subtle tips of his expression.
Sam was starting to feel seriously outclassed.
At least neither of the fuckers could fly.
Of course, neither could Sam, at the moment. His pack was still back at the Avenger’s Compound, waiting to the Accords celebration, waiting for a signature to say that everything Sam did for the rest of his life was going to be under the jurisdiction of most of the world.
He still wasn’t sure it was a good plan; in fact, Sam would be willing to say it was a pretty bad damn decision.
First off, as someone whose great-greats had come over to the Americas, collared and registered on a document as property, he didn’t have what you’d call happy, shiny feelings about being on any damn sort of registry, super-hero or otherwise.
Second, while Sam didn’t have any direct evidence that General Ross was under Hydra control, the man was absolutely not to be trusted. The number of human rights violations in the Sokovia Accords were staggering; and Ross just happened to have access to an enormous, submersible prison that no one knew about, right up until he threw half the Avengers into it without due process? Yeah, that wasn’t suspicious at all.
Sam continued to brood about the Accords while he worked the hubcap off the tire, listing all his arguments and reasons; much more articulate in his head than he ever managed to be in person, but one of the things Stark had done -- and Sam would probably rather cut his own tongue out than admit that he was relieved about it -- was get a whole team of lawyers on it. Just because the Accords were a global initiative didn’t mean that the United States Constitution didn’t apply. Just because it was convenient didn’t make it law.
He was going to lose his fucking mind when Steve reached out and grabbed the tire with one hand, working the torque backward against the crowbar when Sam was having a little trouble getting one of the bolts loose. Sam had to restrain himself from smacking Captain fucking America with a crowbar, because really? Really, Sam could change a goddamn tire on his own, without any--
Holy hell, how the fuck? Even?
Steve’s bicep bulged attractively.
“It was rusty,” Sam explained, like normal guys never had trouble with pickle jars and wrenches. But he got the flat off, and the spare on, and then Steve dropped the car. Sam jumped back, the crowbar clattering against the pavement and bouncing under the car.
There was a terrible shrieking sound of metal on metal, a tearing, grinding noise that set Sam’s teeth on edge and his eardrums on fire.
“Christ, Stevie, warn a guy,” Barnes said, holding up the rear bumper, that he apparently accidentally torn off. He folded the bumper up -- at least the older car was mostly made of metal instead of that fiberglass and plastic compound with built in crumple zones -- and tossed it off the side of the road like it was an empty fast-food cup.
Sam stopped running his brain on that particular hamster track when Barnes used the collar of his tee to wipe sweat off his throat, the hem of his shirt riding up, showing off ridiculous abs and the dip in his hips… Jesus, Sam. Get a grip.
“You’ve got --” Steve pointed, and he was just making shit worse, because Barnes yanked his tee all the way up to scrub his face on it, showcasing that chest and lower back, and Sam really needed to not fall in lust with the unobtainables. There was a little somethin’-somethin’ going on with Steve and Barnes, and Sam was trying to stay out of the middle of it. That way lay heartbreak and possibly losing the best friend he’d had since Riley died.
But he wasn’t blind, and he couldn’t help but look.
Fuck.
“You best be havin’ an idea about what we’re going to do if now that you tossed our bumper,” Sam said, folding his arms over his chest.
Barnes raised an eyebrow. “Stealing a better car comes to mind.”
Let the heat of the sun Reignite your memory 'Cause if we just turn and run Let them fire the gun No I don't know why seasons change Or how we fell so far Before our hearts go up in flames Let's go throwing stones And stealing cars --Stealing Cars, James Bay
“Relax, Stevie,” he said. He laid his tools out on the cheap hotel room table. “I ain’t takin’ someone else’s money. This is Hydra cash, I’m just accessin’ it.” He reinforced the credit card with a few pieces of packing tape across the front.
“That’s someone else’s credit card, Buck,” Steve pointed out.
Idiot; like he didn’t know that, he was the one who lifted it from the tourist family who was checking in before them. He held up one shiny metal finger. “Ain’t attached to their account anymore, I jus’ need somethin’ to swipe.” He slid the magnet over the card a few times, degaussing the strip. “You got that number for me, Wilson?”
“I don’t even wanna know why this stuff’s public information,” Wilson commented, handing over the notepad where he’d written the codes.
The night clerk probably wouldn’t miss the strip-encoder that they’d liberated from behind the desk; not until check out, at least. There were a few of them, for high turnover time at the hotel, but it was unlikely that all three would be required at once, and the device was portable. Chances were good the clerks wouldn’t even notice it was missing at all. And he’d put it back, the next day.
He entered the new credit information onto the strip-encoder and then ran the hotel card key over it, imprinting it with the account; an old Hydra slush fund for high level executives. That one was one of Pierce’s old funds, where he slid extra campaign money and used for various bribes -- as well as some of his little luxuries -- that he’d managed to retain after Insight. Only Pierce and a handful of his top agents had known about the account at all, so he wasn’t worried about being tracked down by accessing the funds.
Painting down the old stripe with clear fingernail polish kept any residual information from seeping through the card-reader and a few slices with a razor and he transferred the magnetic strip from their hotel card-key onto the back of the credit card. He pressed, using the sealant of the polish to hold the new strip in place
He took the finished product and heated it in the microwave for a moment to bond the tape and polish together.
“Shiny new credit card,” he said, handing it off to Steve. “With almost as much funding as a Stark account. Now… go buy us a new car, hmm?”
“What about getting our old car fixed?” Steve crossed his massive arms over his massive chest and looked massively disapproving.
“Consider it backpay for puttin’ Insight outta commission, if ya gotta, Stevie,” he said. “Th’ money’s there, ya might as well use it. Ain’t nobody with better intentions gonna have access to it.”
“And we’ve already pissed off our regular mechanic,” Wilson piped up. He’d been fascinated by the whole process, that gap-toothed smile sneaking out when he thought no one was looking.
Steve flicked an angry look in Sam’s direction. “I’m not asking Tony for help.”
“Which is why you’re gonna use Hydra funds t’ get us a new car,” he said.
“If you hadn’t ripped the bumper off our old car--”
He turned Steve in the direction of the door. “Car.”
Wilson waited a bit longer than strictly necessary before turning to him. “You’re smooth,” Wilson admitted. “Tell me, didja rip th’ muffler off on purpose?”
He was getting practice with the whole rolling-the-eyes thing. “This was a dumb damn idea t’ start with,” he said. “Can’t believe you said yes t’ a six week long road quest with Captain America.”
Wilson’s arms were less awe-inspiring than Steve’s, but he’d mastered the unimpressed look. “I’m not the only one who coulda put a kibosh on this.”
“You think I ever had any influence over what Steve does?” He shook his head. “Not even when he was so tiny I could sling ‘im over my shoulder an’ cart him away. Steve always was a stubborn cuss.”
One of Wilson’s eyebrows achieved altitude and the side of his mouth twisted. “What’s your plan, soldier?”
“Thought Steve was the man with a plan?”
“You calculatin’,” Wilson accused. “Ever’thing about this op’s been on your dime, since the words left Steve’s mouth.”
He gave Wilson a quick nod, respectful. “You’re a sharp one.”
“Flattery will get you everywhere,” Wilson agreed. “Except around a direct question. What are you up to?”
“You know what happens to a pocketwatch, when gets overwound?”
Wilson puffed out his cheeks and made a soft explosion noise.
“Thing is, you can’t tell. Steve’s… man, Steve’s runnin’ on empty,” he said. “Man’s been done, years now. An’ they keep callin’ him back. An’ he can’t help but go. If Stark asked him t’ stay, he would’ve. What happened in Siberia, that shouldn’t have happened. The Steve I knew, he wouldn’t never have done that. He’s broken already. Ain’t that I’m tryin’ to keep him from breakin’. He’s already done that.”
Wilson nodded, reluctantly. “So, what’s this?”
“Little bit of peace,” he said. “Him, you, me, open road.”
There went the dubious eyebrows again. “You and I ain’t never gonna be a little bit of peace, hoss.”
He chuckled, letting his wry amusement show. “Little problems,” he said. “Little solutions. Somethin’ he can do, an’ fix. Be annoyed with me. He’ll sleep better. Hell, sleep at all. You’ll see.”
Wilson was nodding slowly. “When I first met him, I asked him what made him happy. Said he didn’t know.” Wilson shot him a long, knowing look. “That’d be a different answer now, wouldn’t it?”
He shrugged. “Dunno. There’s a lot of road between us an’ that bridge we burned down. Leastways, I aim to see if it grows again.”
“I… I won’t get in the way of that,” Wilson said.
He shook his head. “You can’t. Not between us. There’s more there than either of us can ever put aside. But Steve’s got a big heart, Wilson. More’n I can fill. Don’t… I ain’t possessive. I ain’t gonna warn you off. If--” he trailed off, not sure how to express it. Steve… Steve needed to be needed. And he… both did and did not need Steve.
“What?”
“My comin’ back messed things up for him. He was gettin’ over me. Maybe not so easy. An’ this… well, this is just a grade A clusterfuck, ain’t it? What I’m sayin’ is, this didn’t have to mess things up for you.”
Those were more words than he’d used in a long time, and he was done. He started cleaning up the scraps and tape and polish from building up the false credit card. Steve should be back soon, and this conversation… was over.
Medical insurance coordination of benefits help?
"Medical insurance coordination of benefits help?
Husband & wife both have group medical insurance with their employers. His insurance is a bucket plan through Cigna called an HSA. It pays for the first $750 & then he has to meet another $750 before anything else is pd. Her insurance is Healthlink PPO with $250 deductible. If husband's insurance pays for his chiropractor bills in full (as not over $750 total) can these bills be submitted to her insurance to help meet the family deductible of $500? We live in IL. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Do I have too much insurance?
I live in California, where the minimum required liability insurance limits are 15/30/5. I drive a 97 Ford Taurus and the cost of a deductible if I were to have full coverage would exceed the value of this old car- so I only have liability. My coverage is 50/100/25. I'm 25, my husband is 22, we have no accidents on our record, are good students and have absolutely no assets whatsoever. I'm beginning to wonder if we have more insurance than we need. I don't think I'm comfortable dropping my insurance to the required 15/30/5 minimum, but at the same time, I'm not sure if finding the happy medium at 25/50/25 would be a wise choice. I just want to make sure we're prepared, but not getting ripped off. Any advice?""
1.3 KA 2002, immobiliser, no tracker fitted yet (intend on). Not bought the car. 17-year-old as the main driver and owner, passed a month ago (roughly). I know it's obvious, but KAs are the easiest cars to buy, the car is valued at 995 (the one in mind). I can literally find 5000 quotes. The car is worth less than one fifth of this. And yes, I know that car insurance will be expensive, but reading over forums etc, some people have managed to get it down to 2000. I've tried Diamond, elephant, comparethemarket, gocompare, literally everywhere. Admiral won't give me a quote and places like Tesco will only quote 18-year-olds. I will literally LOVE anyone who knows of any quotes around 2000-3000. And I realise that insurance companies take the Michael, but please don't state the obvious with a comment like Insurance will be expensive - 5000 is about right , surely it can't be, I've found so many forums of people saying they have quotes from 2000, but not telling me where from. ):""
I bought my Acura in 2006 and have been in mint condition since then. Recently, the snow plougher scratched my car and didnt leave a note. I called the manger of the snow plougher and filed the police report. He took the responsibility but during the report he said that he will give the name of the driver and vehicle later. After few weeks when I didnt hear I called the manager and he said his company will not cover anything and I can do whatever I can.... I called my insurance company and they are willingly to cover through my insurance - Collision, instead of comprehensive. The repair is $2000 + rental car for 9 days ~$2500. Dad got demoted last year during GM's bankruptcy, and may get a promotion in spring. My Mom is opening a restaurant this year, which is going to cost a lot. I got a job in November at a brand new Kroger grocery store, where I get minimum wage and cannot work over 16 hours per week because I'm only 15. I have saved a little over 1.2k in the bank. I also have invested $500 of my own money this year into stocks, which are up a little. This might sound dumb to some, but I have dreamed of buying a motorcycle. I want a Kawasaki Ninja 650R. AND YES, I KNOW INSURANCE COSTS MONEY, (FOR CAR AND MOTORCYCLE) I'M NOT AN IDIOT. I also need to plan on how to save for that. Any tips, help, and info would be great! Thanks so much.""
Car Accident - Auto insurance Question?
Today I was involved in a horrible collision. Car made a complete stop put hazard lights on, I made a complete stop at a reasonable distance however 15 seconds after I stopped I look at the mirror and a taxi van cab slams right into me my car goes flying forward hits the truck infront of me and bounces back, air bag goes off . Long story short I'm in horrible pain and have evident bruises . Police arrived filled out reports. The man that hit me was found at fault for both collisions. So my major concern is : I called my insurance company , made the claim they took down all the info but at the end of the conversation she told me that if I don't have full coverage I'm out of luck then she asked me if I do which I don't remember . So I'm taking a look at my policy contract and I don't see anywhere where it says full coverage ... I think it is full coverage since my car was being financed. All it basically says on the contract is liability limit $ 1 000, 000 So if they write off my car what happens next?""
I receive a health insurance stipend but keep it in savings instead. is this okay?
i went from being fully covered with my company in los angeles, but i moved to new york 7 months ago, where their insurance doesn't cover. in lieu of this, they give me a stipend. however, it's not nearly enough to cover cost of insurance here, so i've been putting it in a savings account until i can afford a plan in my budget and/or emergency health situations. my boss just asked me for proof of insurance. i will tell the truth of the matter, but what will happen? what can they do?""
Medical insurance coordination of benefits help?
Husband & wife both have group medical insurance with their employers. His insurance is a bucket plan through Cigna called an HSA. It pays for the first $750 & then he has to meet another $750 before anything else is pd. Her insurance is Healthlink PPO with $250 deductible. If husband's insurance pays for his chiropractor bills in full (as not over $750 total) can these bills be submitted to her insurance to help meet the family deductible of $500? We live in IL. Insurance deductibles -- when to pay? (and other insurance questions)?
So I am no long part of an california HMO plan, so now I have to get insurance on my own. Problem is that I am making about $800 / month (part time work) while going to school full time. Both my parents are on government low-income plans, so I cant put them as primary policy holders while I get student rates. One question I have about deductibles is when to pay it? For example, a plan that has $1,500 deductible / $0 doctor visits, do I have to pay the full value of that office visit to the doctor? Or will I have to pay $1,500 straight out to the insurance company and then funds will be used accordingly? What about $1500 deductible / $30 co-pay doctor visits? If I pay $30 to the doctor, will this credit towards the deductible? Or will this plan only hit me with the deductible for $1500 when I go to the hospital? Or will the insurance company want it upfront? Final question is: for a 21 year old student that is about 5'7, 230 lbs, non smoker, rarely drinks, what do you think would be the correct rate? So far I am getting estimates of $60-300, depending how big of a deductible I want to put down. Actually, one quick question: opinions on Kaiser Permanente anyone? I know most people i've talked to complained about slow waits and etc, but i'm leaning towards it because of good coverage for the cost -- but is it really worth it? I know this is quite a lot to ask, so if you don't feel like answering, at least point me to an informative web site?""
I recently renewed my car insurance with the Cooperative, I was charged and thought I was insured. After a few days I received a letter from the cooperative saying they have decided to terminate the insurance quote. If i want to know why I have to write a letter. After noticing Ive been charged and not given back a refund, I called and asked why this is. They said they wont refund the money, and all I could do is appeal for the money! They said the appeal has to be a letter sent to them, not email. Can they do this? Not only did they refuse to insure me (when they have done for so many years now), then they sent a letter saying they've decided to terminate it, without giving a reason, and they dont even mention anything about the money theyv charged me, I had to call in, and they tell me they wont refund the money?????""
State farm car insurance people?
I am writing to find out what my options might be-to see if you guys might have some feedback. Long story short-I was in an accident on 6/28, that was my date of loss, submitted the claim then, my car is in the process of being repaired-and it will be ready 7/23 which is ridiculous. Basically my renewal is up on 7/19-however, I wanted to switch to Geico. I have been with State Farm for 12 years and I am amazed at the service-or lack thereof-and their turn around time requirements. They are charging me $668.00 for the same exact coverage as Geico would for six months however, I've added towing/rental reimbursement with Geico and it's only $303/6 months. I have several policies with them, and should be getting a larger discount IMO. I've heard Geico is awesome with claims and have friends that have used them. I am writing to find out if I can switch during a claim process-has anyone else done this? Thanks!""
Which insurance company?
I am 17 year old male in the UK. I have a Citroen Saxo 1.1L 3 door 2000 car. I bought the car for 800. It is not modified in any way and it is in a secure garage every night. Having my dad as the policyholder is not beneficial because although he has been driving for over 30 years, he has always had a company car and has never owned, and therefore never had insurance. I have looked everywhere for insurance and the cheapest is 3500, most quotes are over 4000 and around a third of the results are over 10000. This is 3rd part F+T and using sites such as Confused, Compare the Market etc. I also tried getting quotes direct from the company and it's no cheaper. If anything it's more expensive. Which companies should I try, and has anyone else been getting ridiculous quotes like this?""
Young Drivers Insurance question?
I'm 18 years old and passed my driving test on the 30th September 2010. I don't have a car because I cant afford the insurance. I'm working full time. I found a nice little car, a 2001 RENAULT CLIO, 1.2 16V 3dr Hatchback. I used a price comparison site to get a basic idea of what the insurance would be on it - and using my real own details and it was 5993. So I messed around a bit and added my mum as a second/extra driver. The price crashed down to 3,153. The option to add another driver was still there so I added my dad too and the price is now 2,617 - much more in my price range. I called them in and was like look at this and what do you think and they both agreed that there was something wrong with it and there would be a catch somewhere but I disagree. They said it would affect their own no claims however when added a extra driver no information about an extra driver is there. Are they right that there would be a catch? And can someone give me some more information about this please! Thanks!""
Temporary vehicle registration and insurance in California for uk citizen?
Hi, Myself and a friend will be travelling to California next month to purchase a 1960s vw campervan. We will be driving it to the shipping port to export it back to the uk. I've been told we can get a temporary registration which lasts 28 days and will allow us to drive the van. I've been on the californian DMV website but cannot find any more information or the forms. no email address either! So far I just know we will need to have an insurance certificate to get the temporary registration. Couple of questions really, Do I need to purchase a van before I can get the temporary registration? Ideally I would like to go buy a van and drive it away there and then from the seller but Im thinking I'll have to put a deposit down or similar and get the info and go to the DMV before I can take it away? Second question is insurance, I guess the best idea would be to go with an American company. Will they insure a uk citizen who's just over for a few weeks with just a uk driving license? Any suggestions of companies who may do so? In the uk we have a company called swift who only deal online. This would be ideal because then I wouldn't need an address forms/certificates to be sent. Any ideas? Reason were not getin it transported is because we want to do a bit of travelling on route to a east coast port.""
What should i expect in a auto accident and insurance settlement?
I was hit from behind on Wednesday evening heading to work. The driver was ticketed by the police and their insurance company has admitted full liability. Injury wise, I have whiplash which thankfully, is going away now. My car, according to their adjuster, is going to be claimed as totaled. So, my car is valued at 7400, and repairs just from visual inspection, are 7015. So they are going the totaled route as its cheaper for them. After they buy the car from me, they will sell it to salvage, expect to get 2k from it, and only be out 5400 instead of a full cost of repairs. So I've had the car for a year and half, taken out on a 5yr car loan. I still owe 12k on it. After they cut a check to the lean holder, I'm still responsible for 5k on that loan. The bank and my insurance at the time didn't offer gap insurance. Stupid of me, I let my current policy expire to search around for a more affordable policy. I kept procrastinating, and the accident happened with me having no insurance. Lucky he hit me and is at fault. I'm trying to see what my options are. I've gone to the liable company's website and see their basic plan for my state, law requires 25k in property liability for at fault accidents, plus medical etc. So I'm wondering what should I expect from the lady handling this claim. I'm not fooled when she called me yesterday and said that she is here to work with and for me. Saying that there is probably a lot of talk about lawyers, just know they will take 30-40% of you settlement. Know that I'm here to work for you, try to work with me I'm thinking my head total bull crap. 1, she works for her insurance company first, and will have their interest first, 2, she works for their client and to protect them from me in a suit. In the end, I'm not stuck with a car that they will not fully pay to have repaired, and will still owe 5k after they pay the loan holder the value of the car. My credit is damaged and getting a new loan is probably not going to happen easily. I really don't want to get a lawyer but I now have a car sitting in my driveway that I can't use plus a balance in the end. Anyone got some suggestions as to what I should realistically expect. The lady mentioned a liability settlement, repair settlement, medical expenses settlement, and personal injury settlement. I'm not out to make money on this as that just will not happen. But I have no car and will owe 5k still. I'm just like...f**k""
What is required for a new resident in England (from Canada) to get car insurance?
Moving to England shortly, and it will be so much easier to find work and move into a new place if we have a car first. What information will we need to get insurance? We will be living with friends, so we could use their address and phone number until we get our own place. But will we need a national insurance number before we can get car insurance? British bank account? We'll be getting those things, but it would be so much easier to have the car first. Basically, what is required for us to provide in order to get a car bought, insured, and on the road? (We'll be paying cash.)""
Medical insurance coordination of benefits help?
Husband & wife both have group medical insurance with their employers. His insurance is a bucket plan through Cigna called an HSA. It pays for the first $750 & then he has to meet another $750 before anything else is pd. Her insurance is Healthlink PPO with $250 deductible. If husband's insurance pays for his chiropractor bills in full (as not over $750 total) can these bills be submitted to her insurance to help meet the family deductible of $500? We live in IL. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
