Combing her hair // Rhaenyra Targaryen x fem!reader
Tumblr media
Summary: reader is too concentrated in the idea of being favored by Rhaenyra to notice that the Princess is actually, way too fond of her.
Dragonstone had been a stifling place for you from the first day. Full of damp, dank, stony mountains, the presence of dragons had replaced the roses that grew in Highgarden. Since you had been sent as Princess Rhaenyra's ward, your duty had been reduced to helping Lucerys with his duties and putting up with Jacaerys's chatter. Your so-called mentor seemed unwilling to heed you, pacing the castle listening to the Maester's whispered words, spending entire evenings in the room with the stone table talking to her husband Daemon, and when she retired to her chambers, only her sons and Rhaena were allowed to enter.
Occasionally you would feel her leaning against the doorway of the room where you and Rhaena were studying with the septa, though you never thought of her watching you when her niece was in front of you; when she spoke with you she was gentle, but your need to impress her seemed to motivate her to underestimate you. Sometimes you would find her watching you from afar, as if trying to discover some hidden secret or intention in you, but you would only get nervous and offer her a smile, wanting to be invited to participate. She always averted her eyes quickly, and you had to get on with your day.
Ever since you were a child you had dreamed of the brave and powerful woman that Rhaenyra was said to be, and when you met her you knew it was absolutely true. And so it hurt you all the more that the person you most wanted to impress paid you so little mind. The disinterest of the noble boys of the palace in you hurt far less than the disinterest of the princess.Rhaena laughed at your cringe, saying you were in love with the princess, and you shoved her away, not understanding that she was absolutely right. No one informed you of anything, despite having a mind as sharp as your hearing. You understood the princess's disinterest in a ward when the Hightowers were indirectly on the throne. But still, it broke your heart to eat alone in your room and to be glared at by the children when you were in a mood. Daemon was the one you feared most in the castle. He wouldn't even speak to you, he said, because your father was nothing more than an airhead who offended him years ago.
Sitting at one of the windows, your reading was interrupted by voices shouting at each other, a more heated argument than they used to have. You only understood the word "Alicent" and the word "in love". What followed was a slamming of the door. You walked, curiosity getting the better of you, and though Daemon was already far away, when the door opened again, Rhaenyra found you. She seemed more transfixed than you, her eyes watering and her lower lip trembling, not expecting to see that expression of grief on your face.
"Your Majesty…" you said in a whisper.
"What are you doing here?" She moved her eyes up and down, watching you as she tried to compose herself. She didn't give you a chance to answer her. "Go away."
"I just wanted to…"
"Leave! I command you!"
And you turned away, not knowing who you hated more, the princess or yourself for being such a coward. The day passed slowly with the young princes trying not to mention Daemon, trying to ignore Syrax's stiff pangs of grief at the absence of Caraxes, or the absence of the Princess in the hall at dinner time with her children, the time when she never failed. You put little Joffrey to bed, the only Targaryen who seemed to respect you and asked the favour of giving his mother a small paper ship he had made himself that afternoon. You had intended to give it to one of his ladies-in-waiting or servant, but when you found them all gathered in the hallway and facing the door, you forgot that option.
"She won't let us in," one informed you.
"Someone should see if she's all right." The suggestion made her smile wryly.
"She's the Princess, we shouldn't bother her."
"But she's also to be looked after…it's your duty, in fact."
"Well, let's see if you dare to go in."
In another circumstance you would have joined that princess-fearing group, but you were too moved by the idea of being the princess and no one treating you like the sad woman she was at the time. The Targaryens may have been more than human, but they had a part of it that still entitled them to affection. You picked up your dress to climb the step leading to Rhaenyra's door. You gave the guard an unfriendly look as he approached to lead you away, but stepped inside and carefully walked slowly, hoping that Rhaenyra would have the sound of your heels as a warning.
It seemed all the tears had long since been shed, but her face was no less stern at the sight of you. She rose from the spot on the bed where she sat and stood dignified.
"I have told the ladies not to disturb me." She sounded angry, and it sat badly with you.
"I'm no lady's companion." You struggled to get them out, but your voice did not tremble.
"Nothing that happens in this room is of your concern," she said flatly. You were about to walk away, but there was something about her tousled hair that made you feel sorry for her.
"It does concern me, Princess…" she was confused by your serious tone. "I am your ward…"
"Indeed, and I ask you to leave."
"And what else?" You cut her off. Your hands hid Joffrey's little ship. "What else do you ask of me? Is the thought of helping you such a horrible thing for His Majesty?"
"What? Are you rebuking me?" She took a step towards you, never having paid you so much attention before.
"…" now your fear was returning, but you would not be frightened. "I am here to learn, because I am a good pupil and I thought, as my father thought, that I might be of some use here, but I don't fit into a single room in this castle, Princess. And if you do not want me, why do you not allow me to return to my home?"
"Because you are of much use here."
"Is that so? I don't feel that way… you won't let me help you."
"I won't let you help me because you won't know how. I have maesters who know far more than you, guards stronger than you. You're just a girl, and your duty is to learn. What can you do to help me?"
"Well, I'd start by telling you that Joffrey and Luke and Jace have served you wine at the table waiting for you to come down to be with them… and I'd help you redo that braid that's come undone to get you back to the hall. And I would tell you how sorry I am for your discomfort…"
She seemed embarrassed by your words, as if some of them had enlightened her in her ignorance, and she turned her eyes away from you to return to her surroundings. She nodded in acceptance of that rebuke, and then looked down at your hands. You opened them, revealing at last the gift of her son. You held it out to her and saw her smile a little, a crooked smile, so characteristic of her. Her hand caressed yours as she picked it up, and you watched her as she looked at it. The candles darkened her hair, but it was still magnificent, and her walk was so graceful that one knew who entered by the rhythm of her steps. She sat down in a chair and turned her back to you.
"Comb my hair… I feel like a ride." She pointed to a brush and you were a little offended by the order, that wasn't your duty, but that's something.
You did as she asked, gently, although that was not your forte, you enjoyed the softness of her hair, and from the mirror opposite you could see her, with a tear falling. It was an impulse, but you did not regret it when you wiped her cheek with a finger, gently but quickly, and she looked into your eyes.
"Excuse me, Your Majesty…" she must have seen you blush, but she smiled and took your hand before you pulled it away from her face again. They were strong hands, hands that had led a dragon.
She seemed to want to tell you something, but she instead ran her finger across your palm as she watched you closely. The same impulse you had to wipe away her tear, she had to kiss the back of your hand. Only she didn't apologise, she just released it gently.
When you plaited her hair into a simple braid, she smiled at you and walked away, leaving you alone in the room, unaware that something was stirring inside you. The last thing you heard that night was Syrax's flight back and forth, sleeping very little, still feeling the princess's kiss on your hand.
In the days that followed, Rhaenyra's eyes followed you more than before, and her mood seemed to change. She seemed to care little for her husband's absence, and spent long periods of time in the room where you were. She went so far as to ask you to stay during a meeting with her aunt Rhaenys. You got to share walks with her on the beach, where she would tell you about the things she had seen during her tour in search of a husband, and she would encourage you to tell her about your childhood in Highgarden. She used to push your hair away from your face when the wind was harsh and dodge your gaze much less. There even came a day when she encouraged you to pet Syrax. It became a habit for you to brush her hair, while she gave you little books she knew you would appreciate. She would confess her worries to you, confirming that, indeed, it was not only the crown that concerned her. Motherhood had dulled her self-esteem and Daemon made her feel somewhat aged and ugly.
"You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen, Princess," you told her honestly. You had undone her braid and she turned to look at you. You felt a rush of warmth throughout your body as she gently cupped your cheek.
"You should go and rest," she replied, much sweeter than she used to be in her day.
You nodded and found it as hard to pull away as she found it hard to let go of your chin.
"You have beautiful handwriting…" she told you the day she found you alone, by your trusty window. One of your many notes had been picked up by her. "It's as distinctive as you are, sweet flower."
She beamed, as you blushed at the compliment and nickname. You tried to reposition yourself immediately, to pay her your respect, but she kept her smile and moved closer to you, resting her hand on your leg to keep you from sitting up.
"Thank you, Your Majesty. I didn't realise I had lost it…" you picked up the leaf to keep it with the others.
"I don't think I have thanked you for being the most efficient and attentive person in the castle," she said calmly.
"I don't think that…"
"I do…and I also think I owe you an apology. I led you to believe that I didn't care about you in the slightest. And it's quite the opposite. I had a duty to mentor you, and I only avoided you."
"No need, Your Majesty--"
"Yes, my dear," she cut you off, your eyes trying to avoid her, but her face was unavoidable. "When I was even younger than you, my heart was very evenly divided…. I loved Daemon. And I loved… women." Her hand parted from your leg, leaving you a special space for you to hate her. And yet, she remained dignified in her confession. "I've always… I've always paid attention to you. And precisely because I liked watching you too much, I have consciously avoided you."
Before you could respond, before you could even assimilate her words, she disappeared. And he had already gone back into his rooms when you understood everything. And if you didn't go in that time it was because it took you a sleepless night to work up the courage to tell her what you thought.
She was meditating again in the room with the stone table, watching the fire crackling, the whole castle asleep, and she heard your footsteps but did not turn around.
"It is most unfair…" she turned her head just a little towards you, "to hear your words and leave me alone at once. What do you expect me to do with them?"
"I thought they would be words of relief."
"Well, they would be for your relief and not mine, Your Majesty." At the tremble in your voice, Rhaenyra turned in alarm. "You wish me to leave?"
She approached you quickly, unsure of what to do when she had you close to her. She looked you up and down, and pondered what to say only to shake her head.
"No, I don't want you to leave…"
Her hands held out in front of you, holding each other to restrain herself from touching you, but her rings glistened and you longed fervently to caress them. You took them both, and she let herself, and the space was limited, with her sweet breath close to your lips. You lifted one of her hands, and upon her palm you groped a soft kiss. And with a gentle push of Rhaenyra's hand, she moved your face to her lips and you occupied them. Both her hands now in your hair and yours on her cheek.
Such soft lips, fuller kisses than the ones she received from Daemon, Rhaenyra felt unable to tear herself away from you.
"You have been occupying my dreams for hundreds of nights…" she confessed.
"And you occupy all my thoughts in the day, my queen…"
That made her smile. The room of the stone table would henceforth witness the thousands of hidden glances that carried with them nocturnal kisses.

𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐁𝐄 𝐒𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐒𝐅𝐈𝐄𝐃 - a hamilton inspired aemond targaryen one shot
pairing: aemond targaryan x fem!baratheon!reader
word count: 2.2 K
triggers: angst(??), not a happy ending
summary: this is inspired by me watching the storm's end scene coupled with a hamilton obsession. but its essentially from the pov of the eldest baratheon sister, who puts the happiness of her sister before her own (might do a part 2?? )
Tumblr media
baratheon weddings tended to be on the rowdier side, yet when the eldest daughter of lord borros baratheon stood up with a glass in hand, one glare from the lady silenced the proceedings (such was the reputation of the ill temper of the lady of storm's end). "a toast!" she announced with a wide smile. "to the bride, my baby sister" seeing her sister, floris blush as any good newlywed bride must at her wedding feast, warmed her elder sister's heart; "and to the groom" moving her eyes to prince made her smile falter for a second, but she stubbornly stuck to the facade.
she didn't know if it was her eyes deceiving her, but she was certain that across the high table from where she stood, she could see the usually unreadable expression of the silver haired prince, give something away, just for a second.
it took her back to a night long ago, a night she would remember forever, and perhaps regret it for just as long.
☆…━━━━━·:*☆…━━━━━·:*☆…━━━━━·:*☆
"father asked us to be home by sundown!" looking around fearfully, floris whined at her elder sister who seemed utterly unmoved by the younger lady's protests. "you're free to go if you wish." the eldest baratheon's eyes remained fixed on the knights who were crowding around town. "they're all here for the war." she observed with riveted fascination. while there wasn't certainty about which side their father, the lord of the stormlands was going to fight, that of the princess rhaenyra or of the newly crowned king aegon ii, it was certain that a fight was brewing. to support their lord paramount in whatever side he was going to pick, knights and men-at-arms from across the stormlands were gathering at storm's end. and the lord's eldest daughter could not fathom missing out on the excitement.
"oh, look at the size of that hammer!" borros baratheon would have never allowed any daughter of his anywhere near weaponry, but his eldest had always found her way to wooden swords one way or another, even as a child. she had joined the crowd to watch two knights practice sparring in one corner, with her sister grabbing the sleeve of her dress for comfort, when suddenly a great shadow befell all around them. all eyes moved up towards the sky, to marvel at the great beast flying right above them. "seven hells" was all the lady managed to gasp out at the sight of the mighty dragon. "that's even better than the hammer."
the girls were soon found by their septa and made to return to the castle at once, to clean up before supper. a guest had arrived, they were told, and a feast had been laid in their honour. the suspense was not long lived, as their father introduced each of his daughters to prince aemond before the feast. he was clearly here to win support for his brother's cause, the lady realised that soon enough, and in exchange for their father's men, he was offering his hand in marriage to one of his daughters.
she had to admit, watching him from where she stood next to her father's seat, he was a handsome man. she had not seen many valyrians in her life, and could not help but admire how ethereal his perfectly set hair looked, shining beneath the candlelight. even his missing eye, the feature she had heard most talked about when it came to queen alicent's younger son, made him seem more even distinguished somehow. or perhaps it just spoke to the sense of adventure, the eldest lady baratheon so craved.
she jumped at the chance to speak to him when he approached her at the feast. it seemed he had come with single-minded focus towards his duty, and not with any romantic notions of courtship. she found him to be polite, and chivalrous, but ultimately she did not think that he was initially seeking to really know her as a woman, in any real depth. his conversation started off as superficial small talk and well, the lady of storm's end had never had much patience for those. "your dragon—" she rather sharply (and irritatedly) cut him off as he spoke of the architecture of the red keep, "—it's called vhagar, is it not?" the prince seemed mildly surprised, but not offended at the sudden change in the direction of the conversation, "yes." he carefully answered, "and it's the oldest dragon alive?" her eyes glimmered with expectation. "yes." "and it's the biggest?" "yes. and the 'it', is a 'she'." he corrected her finally, the young lady's naked interest in his dragon, with her questions bordering on impertinent left him rather intrigued.
"a 'she', of course." the idea that the biggest, oldest dragon alive was a female, seemed to leave the lady with a vindicated grin. "are dragons a passion of your's, my lady?" he inquired, blue eye fixed on the woman in front of him almost intimidatingly. "not particularly." she shrugged. "but when one of them shows up right at your doorstep, anyone would be fascinated."
"most of the ladies at court seem more fearful, than fascinated." he noted, earning an incredulous (and downright unladylike snort) from the lady baratheon. now at that, even the prince could not help an amused smile.
"oh, do not misunderstand me, your grace. i am well aware that i could be easily crushed underneath the weight of your mighty beast, but my curiosity reaches leagues beyond my fear." "then you must be a very brave lady, indeed." at the compliment, she couldn't help the smug smile that overcame her face. she tried hide it as she took a sip from her cup, in an attempt to hold the facade of the shy maiden she was meant to play.
"tell me, lady baratheon, what other brave endeavours have you embarked on?" the prince was now looking at the lady with a fascination that matched her's when she had inquired after his dragon. she had wit, that was plain to see, and a steeled stubbornness in her eyes. he wanted to dig deeper.
the lady looked almost forlorn at his question, "i will be disappointing you with my answer, i am afraid. the tales of my bravado all begin and end in the confines of this castle." she sighed. "we cannot all be sword wielding knights," she gestured at the sword that hung from his belt, "walking across the realm, with songs written about us."
"is that what you yearn for? to be a knight?" aemond was certain he had never met a lady so bold in her ambitions. "i yearn for... adventure." she announced, a far off look in her eyes for a second. "but i will be satisfied with a sword, i suppose." she added playfully.
the prince chuckled at her words, "you strike me as a woman who has never been satisfied" he commented, taking the lady aback with his directness. "i'm sure i don't know what you mean. you forget yourself, my prince." she replied, trying to maintain the mask of the prim lady that she was meant to uphold, at least for the sake of her father, that she realised now she had let slip too much in front of the targaryen prince.
undeterred by her trying to play coy, the prince continued quietly, "you're like me. i'm never satisfied." "is that right?" for a second, the lady could almost forget that she was in a room full of people, and not standing all alone in the hall with him. her breath hitched in her throat, as she looked up at the prince. his eye was so blue, it reminded her of the colour of the sea before a storm. his expression was unreadable, and she had a hundred different questions to try to get beneath his surface.
"i'm never satisfied." he simply repeated, unsure of how it was that he found himself confessing the statement so easily to a woman he hardly knew. he felt as if he had found in her a kindred spirit, someone who similar to him could not just sit still and let life come to her. she was a woman of action. he knew he was yet to meet the lady's sisters, but his choice of bride was becoming more clear with each passing second.
the lady had to break away from his gaze finally when she heard her name being called from across the hall. "your grace." she curtseyed before walking away.
is this is what it feels like to match wits with someone who could finally keep up with her? she wondered, her heart still hammering away as she reeled from the exchange. the conversation could not have lasted more than two or three minutes and yet, it had felt like a lifetime. it was the perfect dance performed entirely through words. she was itching to return back and talk to him again, when she was pulled aside by her sister floris.
"he is so handsome!" and with those four words, her stomach dropped, for there could be no one else that her baby sister was talking about so excitedly. "and so gallant! i have never met someone so—" the elder sister tuned out as the younger baratheon girl spoke in infatuated whispers about the prince she seemed to have helplessly fallen for. witnessing the look of passion in her eyes, the elder lady baratheon knew what she must do.
she walked towards the targaryen prince and placed her hand on his arm. he seemed to be delighted at her return, and asked in a conspiratorial tone, "are we embarking on one of your brave endeavours, my lady?" "certainly." maintaining the smile on her face was causing her heart to internally break.
she tried to think of all the very good arguments against allowing herself to be courted by the prince. for one, since her father had no sons and she was his eldest daughter, she was his heir; she could not be his heir, if she lived all the way at king's landing. no, the lady of the stormlands would have to reside at storm's end, she determined.
she led him away from the crowd, and towards the quieter corner where her shy sister stood. "your grace." the younger lady curtseyed. the elder baratheon caught the momentary look of surprise in the prince's eye, but it vanished as quickly as it had appeared.
he's only interested in me to curry father's favour towards his own side for the war, she reminded herself, it would be naive of her to think that he would have shown any inclination towards her had the circumstances been different. and floris was as much a baratheon as her, she can be his bride.
"my lady floris." the prince made a show of chivalrously taking the hand of her sister and bringing it to his lips for a chaste kiss. "i will leave you to it." the elder woman responded, wanting to get as further away from the scene as her feet would take her, not noticing the look the prince gave her as she walked away from the pair.
she knew her sister better than any soul alive, and there was no one more deserving of happiness than floris, in the lady's opinion. she was trusting, kind, and would be the best thing in the prince's life, just as she was in her elder sister's. she would make him happy, happier than i could, she decided.
the rest of the night, the lady baratheon helplessly watched the prince converse with her younger sister. the agony did not end that night either, for even when the prince left storm's end, he continued to write floris letters. her elder sister managed to snatch one such letter from her hand one day, and reading it she joked how perhaps she should marry him as well, only to keep her sister company at king's landing, of course. "all i am saying is, if you really loved me you would share him." earning her laughter from her other two sisters, and a good-natured eye roll from floris.
but as the day of her sister's wedding approached, all the eldest lady could think about was that perhaps she had judged the prince too early, perhaps she should not have let him go that easily.
aemond had been left confused by the elder lady baratheon's sudden disinterest, dare say even bruised by it. watching her walk away had left him feeling uncharacteristically wounded. but he had a duty to fulfil at storm's end, he had to remind himself. so even if he could not help but but be disappointed at how dissimilar floris's features were to her elder sister, how he would often find himself lost in the memory of his sole conversation with the witty lady of the stormlands at the feast, he knew that at the end of the day he must pick one of the four maidens to wife. and floris had seemed most eager, so he steeled his resolve and forced himself to perform his duty.
yet, his eye would wander in the direction of the elder lady every moment she was in the same room as him, aching to hear whatever witty remark she had on her tongue that second.
the elder lady baratheon though, seemed just as determined as him, and kept her distance from her sister's to-be husband.
☆…━━━━━·:*☆…━━━━━·:*☆…━━━━━·:*☆
"a toast to your union!" the bride's elder sister declared, with none the wiser that the smile on her face was hiding a wound so deep it ached her to her very bones. "may you always be satisfied." at her final words, the prince's eye fixed on her's, and she believed that it was tempting her dangerously, to once again forget that they were in a room full of people.

genre : fluff.
────────────────────
Quietly opening the door of your chamber, you slightly poked your head out, looking at both sides of the dimly lit halls as to make sure there was no one around to witness your small, nocturnal mischief: something you were already quite used to doing every night, which was, sneak into your boyfriend's, Lucerys, chamber without anyone knowing, and vice versa. When the night arrived, that was the only moment of the day where the two of you could freely cuddle and spend as much time together as you desired, completely free from every day responsabilities.
Your footsteps were quiet as usual when walking down the halls, making sure not to attract any unwanted attention from any guards. Occasionally, you had to hide yourself behind – or under – any type of object when you heard, or saw, any unexpected guard in the same place as you were. Luckily that didn't happen often, but your senses were always alert for any type of sound or movement that may result in your nightly routine being interrupted, and possibly getting scolded.
A joyous smile formed on your lips when your eyes finally arrived to the large, marbled wooden door on your boyfriend's chamber, causing you to – silently – quicken your steps, your heart pounding faster with every passing second from the adrenaline of someone catching you. You slowly raised your fist to the door, and knocked four times with a certain rhythm, one that let him know when you were outside his door. It came quite handy, it was like a secret signal for the two of you whenever you had arrived to each other's chamber's doors. Creaking wood could be heard from the other side, and the door was slowly opened, encountering yourself with the young Lordling – the one who had charmed you so dearly with his sweetness, yet teasing personality... and of course, with his messy brunette curls. A contented smile formed immediatly on his lips as he saw you standing outside his door, not taking long until it formed into a toothy-grin, and a rosy taint was smeared all over his cheeks.
“Come, get inside before someone might see us.” His voice tone was nearly quivering with excitement at the sight of you, even if you had done this more than a thousand times. The feelings were returned from your part, as your own lips quivered with an elated smile. As you got inside his chamber, Lucerys quickly poked his head out of his door, looking at both sides of the hall just like you did before leaving your own chamber, and rapidly but gently closed the door. The room was lit up by the moonlight, and strangely enough, it highlighted his precious hazel eyes as he turned around to look at you with a pure joyful expression plastered on his face. Without a second thought, he lifted you from the floor, and sweetly spinned you around as he kept your body tightly pressed against his; some quiet, happy giggles naturally escaping from your lips.
“Gods, I have been waiting for this moment the entire day, Issa jorrāelagon (my love).” Luke quietly spoke, as he placed your feet back into the ground, and placed a needy, yet loving kiss on your lips. The two of you could feel each other smiling on your lips, your own still giggling from the heart-warming moment. “As have I, my charming Prince.” You replied as your fingertips admiringly went from playing with a curl, and slowly descending through his face to trace his jawline. “Let's not wait any more time than we already have, shall we?” nodding in agreement, the two of you pressed your lips against each other one more time, and he guided you his bed by tenderly grabbing your hand. The two of you positioned yourself in bed – comfortably laying – as he covered the sheets on his bed up to your neck, somehow giving him the feeling he was protecting you.
Lucerys wrapped his arms around your now covered body as you placed your head against his chest, hearing the soothing beating of his heart. One of his hands lovingly, and slowly rubbed your back, and the other one caressed your silky hair, occasionally twirling a strand around his fingers as he placed warm kisses on your head, and forehead. The previous crimson colour appeared on both your cheeks as you were embraced on the warmth of the continuously growing love you had for each other. Often, your presences were the only thing that could truly comfort both of you as you comfortably laid on bed. As he kept filling your head with kisses and rubbing your back, your eyelids rapidly began feeling heavy, as they slowly fluttered shut.
“Avy jorrāelan, issa vēzos (I love you, my sun).” The Lordling lowly mumbled to you, feeling his own eyelids a bit hefty as well. “Avy jorrāelan tolī, my sweet Lordling.” You sleepily replied, before you finally entered the realm of dreaming... quite unwantedly, actually. As you usually cuddled, and went back to your own chamber.
🐉☀️🐉☀️🐉☀️🐉☀️🐉☀️🐉☀️🐉
The beautifully harmonic chirping of the birds could be heard outside the window, as the sunlight shined throughout the young Prince's chamber; a soft, peaceful snoring being heard from both your lips.
Rhaenyra, having entered Lucerys' chamber as to wake up the Lordling, found herself softly smiling at the sweet image of her son tightly cuddling his childhood best friend – unknowingly to everyone, now girlfriend – from behind being presented to her. As much as she desired to leave the two of you resting for another short while, the young Prince, along with his elder brother, had duties to fulfil. Her steps softly creaked into the wood as she walked towards his bed, trying not to abruptly awaken and scare the two of you. Her body weighed on the mattress as she sat on the edge of his bed, gently shaking his body a bit to wake him up from his sleep. In the middle of the soft shaking, your body was slightly moved as well, causing both your bodies to sleepily flutter open. You both slowly blinked a few times to adjust your visions to your surroundings, only to find yourselves with his mother sitting on the edge of his bed, so badly trying to contain her smile at how adorable the two of you looked cuddling. His eyes widened in realisation that he certainly needed some explaining done.
“Why haven't you spoken to me about this matter, sweet boy?” She asked, her voice was low and soft, wanting to let him know she wasn't actually upset about the situation, but rather, intrigued at why he had kept your relationship a 'secret'. The two of you quickly stared at each other. “Mother, I can explain–” you both gulped with a hint of nervousness, as he tried to think of an appropiate excuse. “You see, I asked for (y/n) to come into my chamber because... I couldn't sleep very well, and–” Rhaenyra lowly chuckled at seeing her son stumbling upon his words, trying to excuse yourselves. “You don't need to excuse yourself, Luke. I have already seen the two of you sneaking into each other's chambers, and so has your brother.” Your heart pounded with anxiety while he quickly licked his nearly dried lips as his mother spoke. “But I can assure you, sweetlings, I am not upset about this situation. The two of you are perfectly fit for each other, I will wholeheartedly support your relationship, and I will grant you as much freedom and liberty as you desire... as long as you don't do anything stupid.” She joked as she finished speaking, now allowing herself to smile at such situation.
The two of you nervously giggled, as your previous anxiety slowly washed away, feeling a slight relief at how calm she was, and how she was willing to support your relationship. “This means, we can sneak into each other's chambers as much as we desire, your Grace?” you finally spoke, joking at the situation. Rhaenyra kept lowly chuckling at your now crimson-coloured faces, and she gave you a single nod. “You can sneak into each others as much as you desire, sweet girl.” She replied, and continued, “But now I'm afraid I'm going to have to borrow him for a few hours, he's got some duties waiting for him. I promise, I'll give him back to you after he fulfils his responsabilities.” Her voice was still soft and low as she spoke, and you nodded in agreement. “Of course, your Grace. Thank you for everything.” At your response, she gave you a warm smile, and before she left his chamber she placed a tender kiss on your foreheads.
After she left, the two of you released a deep sigh; the overwhelming anxiety from having getting caught by his mother was gone, bringing relief to you. His hand found it's way to grab yours, and lovingly rubbed your hand with his thumb as he placed a gentle kiss on your cheeks, causing you to giggle. “At least, that went better than we expected, my dear.” Luke said, as he warmly kept rubbing your hand. “You're right, I'm glad we haven't gotten in any type of trouble.” You said, notoriously calm, as your heart beat went back to normally pounding as always, free from any type of anxiety.
He placed another quick kiss, this time, on your lips before he spoke, loving the feeling of his lips against yours. “I have to leave now, my love. But I'll see you later as always, I pressume?” a tiny smile began forming on his lips, as he cupped your cheeks with both hand. A joyful smiled formed as well as in your lips – the intense, warm blushing remaining on your face as you shyly nodded in response to him. “Yes, my love, same as always.” as you spoke, one of the hands cupping your cheeks lowered to grab your hand, and guided the two of you out of his chamber.
As the two of you gave each other a hurried peck on your lips, slowly releasing the grip on each other's hands as you made your own ways, a sudden wave of freedom filled on your chest, one that made you content about being able to show your love for your beloved partner in public. And, of course, you were now more than gladly going to show off how much you adored your dear brunette haired boy to everyone who surrounded you.

Characters; yand!Targaryen x reader xYand!Velaryon (Platonic)
Words: 4.2K
Inspired by: since I read again the fabulous writing of @missglaskin I though, why I shouldn't write again about yandere ?
Note: This is a A.U, the dance of the dragon will never happen, the greens and the black are "friends", and Rhaenyra will be the next queen of the seven kingdom
You were the jewel of the two most powerful families of the seven kingdoms, the royal family, the Targaryen and the powerful navigator, the Velaryon. You who had been nobody, you had become someone, you who had been only a young woman who had entered the royal court in the hope of making yourself known, you had succeeded. At a ball given by the king in honor of his daughter, Rhaenyra, you were noticed by the royal family but they were not the only ones who seemed to be interested by your presence, the Velaryons had also noticed your beauty. Many things happened that evening, you danced with several members of the royal family, Daemon, Aemond, Rhaenyra…but as the feast drew to a close, the king raised his glass announcing your arrival in the royal family. It got in your blood, yes you wanted to make a name for yourself, but you didn’t think you’d join the royal family, but you might as well enjoy it, right? So, that night, you took the life-changing demise.
You quickly realized that the Targaryens were not just the powerful royal family, the one that seemed perfect, the one that never seemed to deceive. They were like any family, with moments of joy, moments of sorrow and you began to feel affection for every blonde head that made up the big family. You never thought of calling a place "Home", you who was only the child of a great lord, but now you had one. The more months passed, the more the Targaryens integrated you into their family, they brought you to the hunting event, to the balls, they made you fly with them on their dragons. They made you meet the Velaryons, who you were a little afraid of at first. However, they also accepted you and you became protected by two of the greatest families of the seven kingdoms. Anyone who tried to hurt you knew he wouldn’t live long if you told them what happened to you. You were protected by fire and water, you were loved, adored, pampered and you couldn’t be happier, for the first time in your life, you felt respected, loved and protected.
You lived happy moments with them, but slowly, your light dropped, you felt it, something was wrong. Why couldn’t you be happy? Why did it become difficult for you to get up every morning? Like any normal person, you assumed it was just a passing thing, you couldn’t stay sad forever, could you? Thus, you decided not to talk about it to the people around you, to your friends, to your family, no one should know about it. You were protected by the Targaryens and the Velaryons, you couldn’t afford to have that kind of weakness, that’s what you thought. Then you said nothing, you remained smiling during the balls, you spoke of your sweetest voice to the various lords during the big meals, you laughed at the stupid jokes that Jacarhys made. You let nothing appear and it seemed that no one noticed your sadness, at least that’s what you believed. You didn’t notice the look Rhaenys was giving you, full of confusion. She knew something was wrong, but she couldn’t know what it was if you didn’t talk about it.
As often, you decided to spend a few days with the Velaryon, at the Driftmark, the Targaryens accepted, it had been a few months since you had not seen the members of the other house. The Targaryans understood that you were important in their relationship with the Velaryons, and that if they stopped you from going to them, the Velaryons might take it as an offense. Thus a ball was organized at the Driftmark, reuniting Targaryens and Velaryon as well as other lords, many guests were expected at this celebration. However, it did not interest you, it seemed that for a few months, all the things you liked to do no longer mattered but you had to pretend, for the crown, for the family that had welcomed you, for your reputation.
As Syrax landed in the inner courtyard of the castle, you hurried down from the dragon, its journey had not been restful. You quickly saw Rhaenys coming to you, as she always came to hug you with a smile on her face, "How are you doing? The trip went well? " she asked you in a kind voice when she saw how pale you were." I’m fine, thank you for asking" you answered with a small voice before finally adding "I’m a little tired" Rhaenyra looked at you kindly "I’m afraid that y/n is still not used to traveling on the backs of dragons" you nodded. Yes, you liked flying on a dragon, but flying on a dragon from the Red Keep to the Driftmark was too long for you. "I think I’m gonna get some rest before tonight," you said, a smile on my face. "You’re right, I heard that Crolys had released his best wine" Rhaenys added in an amusing voice while Rhaenyra let out a little laughter. You greeted them before entering the castle, you knew the place by heart, even if you had only come here a few times. You finally reached the room you occupied every time you came here and closed the door behind you.
You lay on your bed, and put your hands in your hair before sighing. You weren’t well, all you wanted to do was stay in that room and read. You let out a little laugh before you started sobbing, why were you crying? Were you exhausted? What happened to you? you turned around and sobbed against your pillow. To be honest what you wanted now was to be in anyone’s arms, you just wanted to feel that you were supported, that people were there for you. On the other hand, you didn’t want to reveal your weakness, what would the Targaryens say? They would hunt you, you were sure of that. So immersed in your thoughts, you did not hear the door of your room open and you did not see Daemon enter your room. "y/n?" his voice was baffled. He had never seen you cry since you met, you looked up at him, you were panicking. Oh no. Shit, what were you gonna say? You start shaking, he was gonna tell everyone. You were so distressed that you only vaguely felt Daemon’s hands take yours.
Your first reaction, when you realized that Daemon was kneeling in front of you, was to quickly remove your hands from his and you twisted your head, you were angry. You were not angry with Daemon but with yourself. How could you have allowed yourself to show him your weakness?" I’m so stupid" you thought. " Leave me alone, please Daemon." You spoke with a broken voice, you didn’t want him to stay any longer. " Sweetheart, I can’t leave you alone when you’re broken." You finally turned your head to the blond-haired man. "Daemon, please, leave me alone" you almost begged the prince in front of you. You knew he didn’t know how to react, it seemed that part of him wanted to stay by your side, while another part told him to accept your request and leave you alone. "Good. If you need anything, you know where we are" he spoke in a calm voice as he got up. "Please don’t tell anyone," you said gently as the prince was leaving your room. When you heard the door close, you stretched out on your bed, and finally fell asleep.
As Daemon was leaving your room, he was puzzled. He couldn’t stop worrying about you even though you told him you wanted to be left alone. As he walked towards the central room, he reflected on the reason for your tears. Had anyone hurt you? This thought made him tighten the machoir. If it was someone who was responsible for your tears, he wouldn’t come out of it and he’d know dragon fire. He eventually arrived in the room where he was welcomed by various lords who were already arriving. he remained polite with the various people he met however Rhaenyra came to him,she smiled at the lords before turning to her husband "where is y/n? " She asked him gently as the lords walked away, it’s turning to her "She said she preferred to stay in her room" he explained in a calm voice. Rhaenyra frowned, it was unusual for you to avoid this kind of gathering, "Did she tell you why she didn’t want to come?" Daemon shook his head "no but she didn’t look good" he added in a low voice, he could tell Rhaenyra but he didn’t want everyone to know.
The evening arrived quickly, and the sky was starry when you awoke. You got up to sit on your bed and put your hands in your hair before approaching the window. You smiled with fresh air on your skin and looked up at the sky, had you missed the start of the ball? You really didn’t care. However, you couldn’t help but think that it wasn’t really polite for your guests, so you walked to your wardrobe and picked up one of your finest dresses, a pastel blue dress, She was your favorite but also one of the dresses that Aemond gave you. You quickly got ready before you left your room to head to the ballroom. Arriving near the room, you were inspired to calm down and you put your best smile on your face, nothing was to show how you felt. As soon as you entered the ballroom, you felt the gaze of the different lords on you, but you were used to it. You quickly walked towards Aemond that you had spotted from your entrance into the room, which was not surprising as he seemed to radiate light.
you approached him and when he spotted you, his face seemed to light up as he smiled at you. "Good evening, princess y/n" he used to call you that way to show you that you were no longer just a woman but a member of the royal family. "Good evening Aemond" you kindly greeted him with a nod. "Will you dance with me?" he asked you by putting his hand in yours, "It's my pleasure" you spoke with a smile on your lips. You started dancing, and, you who hoped that it would distract you from your dark thoughts, the dance did nothing, you still felt empty and you hated it. you hated the fact that nothing could bring back your joy, your hapiness. As the dance ended, you slowly walked away, being careful that no one noticed your abscence.
You could still feel the looks of the Targaryen family on your back. Why couldn’t you be happy? this question was spinning in your head as you walked out of the room to lean against the wall as the music slowly came out of the room, you also heard footsteps and turned around. You were surprised to meet the gaze of Queen Alicent, "Queen Alicent" you could not help but greet her with her title. "y/n, something’s wrong?" she asked you and you felt pity when she seemed worried about you. "I’m just tired" You lied though, the queen took your hands in hers. "Did a lord you make a rude remark?" you shook your head and gave a little laugh. "No, don’t worry, and then, if a lord had dared to make a remark to me in front of Prince Aemond, I’m sure your son would have threatened him to defend me." The queen seemed satisfied with the answer as she smiled tenderly at you.
The last days you spent at the Driftmark were rather lonely. You spent your days in your room, seeking calm. The Targaryens and Velaryons didn’t come to see you either, and that saddened you and you thought it confirmed your doubts. You were weak, they didn’t want to see you anymore so you didn’t say anything and even when you felt the urge, the need, you didn’t move from your room and so an idea came to mind. Why don’t you go? The more the days passed, the more you felt sad , you knew it because every time you dared to put a foot outside your room to stroll, you met only the looks filled with pity of the servants. You made that decision because you were sure that if you stayed, everything would only get worse.
There was something you didn’t know. It wasn't because the Targaryens thought that you were weak that they didn't come to see you, they thought you probably wanted to rest, and they understood that choice. In truth, they felt a little guilty, for they had granted you little rest since you had arrived in the family. Only, two Targaryens in particular were not fooled, they knew that something was wrong, but how to do without worrying the other members of the family? They didn’t know, Rhaenys was worried because she knew you weren’t okay, but what could she do until you came to see her? Daemon, he was worried for you too even if he did his best not to show it but it was not uncommon for him to pass by your room and hear you cry and honestly, it broke his heart. You were too sweet, too beautiful, too young to feel, to have to suffer this sadness.
A day or two before you left the Driftmark, you left your room while the moon was already high in the sky. As usual, during your night walks, you thought you would not meet anyone but you were surprised to see Rhaenyra coming towards you, but she was not alone, Daemon was with her. It was too late for you to step back or hide, so you waited for them to come and see you, and that’s what they did, when they approached you, you noticed that they seemed happy to see you. Before you could understand what was happening, you felt the arms of Rhaenyra come to hug you tenderly as you laid your head on her chest. "Everything will be fine, I promise you" you sniffed, what was she talking about? Did you seem so sick that anyone could see that you were not well? You said nothing when you agreed to rest against her for once, it was weird but you didn’t care.
So this ends your trip to the Driftmark, a few days later, you returned to the Red Keep, for your greatest relief, neither Daemon nor Rhaenyra have talked about the state in which you were. One night when you were going back to your room, you decided to start your plan, you were going to leave tonight and you wouldn’t cause any more problems for anyone. However, how could anyone really understand why you left? You didn’t know that. So you chose to do nothing in your room and waited, waiting for the night to fall and for no more noise to be heard in the corridors. When you were sure that no one would see you, you quickly went out of your room to go to the stables. A horse was a quick way out and you already knew which horse you were going to take, Daemon’s horse, his beautiful black horse was known to be the fastest of all. You hurried to put a saddle on the horse and prepare it then, you climbed on it and disappeared in the night as you left the Red Keep, for, what you hoped, a long time.
I think you want to know what happened when the Targaryens found out you were missing, so I’ll tell you. Alicent was the one who discovered your empty room and it immediately worried her, you didn’t usually get up early, on the contrary, you were often the one who woke up last. No sooner had she set foot in your room, she rushed out to the room where she knew the other family members were eating. "She is gone!" that was what the queen announced when she entered the room, and soon all the eyes of the people in the room turned to her. "Who left?" asked Haelana in a calm voice, "y/n" Alicent replied quickly. As soon as his words had left his mouth that the room suddenly became agitated, everyone was up and everyone seemed to want to rush on the back of their dragon but Aemond got up "Shut up! Don’t rush." His loud voice seemed to calm the people in the room.
"Aemond is right. If we rush, we can forget some things." Daemon spoke in a calm voice while all the family members sat down. "Why run to our dragons? I remind you that y/n has no dragon, she could not escape by air. She had to leave that night and she left somewhere" He continued to explain in a quiet voice. "Why y/n would she leave?" King Viserys spoke in an intriguing voice. "She had not been well for several months, Daemon caught her crying. In addition, she avoided us the days after the dance, though I don’t know the reason." Rheanyra replied to her father. "Fine, but we have to find her quickly, if she fled, it’s because something happened to her here and she must have felt in danger." Alicent quickly concluded the discussion. So, it was a decision, they had to get you home and fast before something happened to you.
You had spent the night running in the countryside out of town and you weren’t going to stop until you were sure to be away from town. You didn’t know where you were going, you didn’t recognize the countryside around you, but it felt good to be lost in its vast spaces. So you continued, always faster, always further, it still had to stop sometimes for your horse to rest. But at the dawn of your second day of flight you reached your father’s castle and quickly returned inside. Your father was happy to see you but was puzzled when you refused to tell him the reason for your visit. Thus, you spent a few weeks in peace and quiet even if you quickly realized that you missed the agitation that existed in the Red Keep. You missed the restless meals where Daemon and Viserys were fighting. But you felt uncomfortable coming back this way after leaving so abruptly a few weeks before, and then, maybe, the Targaryens didn’t want to see you anymore?
Since your departure, the Targaryens had not stopped looking for you, they had flown high into the heavens and flown near the earth in the hope of seeing you but you were nowhere. They sent guards all over town, but night after night, the guards came back alone, you weren’t with them. All the Targaryans participated in your search, but they could not find you, and the more time passed, the more they feared that something had happened to you. The most affected were Aemond and Daemon, the two men liked you very much and missed you. Only one question was in the head of the Targaryens, would you ever come back? or had you gone forever? they didn’t know the answer to that question. so they waited and they’ll wait as long as they can, for you, to see you again.
As winter began, you decided it was time to go home. To the Red Keep. One morning, while the mist was still there, you took the opposite path and crossed the many countryside you had already crossed a few months earlier. After several days of travel, while galloping under a powerful storm, you saw the city in front of you and the Red Keep was visible from afar, as usual. It was easy for you to gallop on the cobblestones of the city except in your impatience, you slipped on the wet cobblestones and found yourself soaked from head to toe. However, it didn’t stop you from getting back on your horse to reach the Red Keep and it was dark when you finally reached the Keep but it was still raining as hard. You quickly returned your horse to the stables before waiting a little at his side, uncomfortable. How would the Targaryens receive you? were they going to be angry? were they going to be happy?
You finally decided to cross the courtyard quickly to enter the Red Keep as the rain continued to fall against your back. You trembled with cold as you went inside, you didn’t meet anyone while you walked tremendously to your room, however, when you opened the door, you discovered with amazement that someone was already in the room. When the man turned towards you, he seemed a moment too surprised to move. Aemond stared at you before he hugged you, he didn’t seem to care that you were completely soaked while he held you against him, as if he seemed afraid that you would disappear again. You didn’t react, your brain taking time to figure out what was going on, didn’t it hate you? didn’t it blame you? You also hugged him before he let you out of his arms and bent over so he could look you in the eye." Where were you? Why did you leave?" he asked you gently while they were taking your hands in his. You did not answer and you looked down, feeling ashamed. "Something happened to me"
"What happened to you?" He asked in a soft voice, trying to calm you down while he rubbed the back of your hand with his thumb. You inspired, you had to tell someone even if you were afraid that they would laugh at you. "… For a few months, I’ve been feeling sad. but not in a temporary way, I’ve been feeling this for months." you explained as you were blushing. "Why didn’t you talk about it, Sweetheart? We could’ve helped you feel less alone, less sad." He has to speak in such a gentle voice. "Because I was afraid you wouldn’t find me worthy of your family, the Targaryens are the children of the dragon, they can’t be weak." You keep on explaining, more and more embarrassing. "We may be the children of dragons but we are still humans, humans capable of feeling emotions." he explained to you as he laid his hand on your cheek. To cry is not to be weak, to cry is to be human, to cry is to show that we are not all monsters who had a stone heart." He continued to explain in a calm voice. "Never be ashamed to cry, no matter what the reason. You know, you’re not the only one who feels that, nobody likes to be seen crying." The blond man seemed to pick his words as he came to wipe a tear rolling on your cheek. "Everything will be fine, I promise you, we will help you get rid of this unpleasant feeling. But never forget that if you need to talk or cry, you can come and see me or anyone in the family. We will be happy to help you, you are someone who deserves to be happy." He kept talking in a low voice, his eyes never leaving yours.
So he promised you everything would be fine, he was right. The royal family was more than happy when you returned and when you explained to them the reason for your departure, all promised to help you. It took some time, several months, but little by little you felt the sun caress your cheek again, you appreciated again the happiness of life and, after some time, your laughter was heard in the corridors of the Red Keep, it was not a forced laugh but a unique and authentic laugh. A smile returned on your lips and you again enjoyed long banquets, dances and conversations. Many times, the Targaryens have offered you to do things with them, whether it be the robberies of dragons, to accompany them during their walks. They never left you alone when they realized you weren’t doing well. Of course, at times Rhaenyra enjoyed letting you rest against her and no Targaryan refused your requests for affections, no matter whether they were in council or with other lords. You were more important, you were their light. A few years after your death, your name will often appear in history books, accompanied by an affectionate nickname given to you by the Targaryens "Little Dragon". The maesters agree that without you, the dance of the dragons could have begun but the Targaryens loved you too much for fighting because they knew that you'll hate to see them fight.

End of the story.
I wrote this because I think that it's important to say to people that it's okay to feel sad. It's okay to not feeling well. But if you have depression, remember that you will heal, no one can't stay sad forever. And if you need to talk, you can send me a message. Take care and have a good day.

POV Narrator
Being part of the personal guard was never Y/n Strong's idea, even less so being the personal guard of the Targaryen princess and less so being so young.
Y/n Strong is the youngest of three brothers, the eldest of the brothers being Ser Harwin Strong, or better known by his nickname: Bearded Vulture and heir to Harrenhal. Then there was the middle brother Lord Larys Strong, or better known as Larys the Clubfoot thanks to a problem with his feet.
Lastly there was Lord Y/n Strong, Lady Strong's pregnancy was a surprise to both herself and Lord Lyonel Strong. But that didn't make him less loved, on the contrary.
In the family, Y/n was known for his sensitivity and empathy towards others. He was the spitting image of his mother and Lyonel always tried to keep that innocence and good heart in his son.
But that did not make him weaker than any other man, since he was strong and some would even say that he is as strong as his older brother. Harwin had personally taken charge of training his little brother, forming a very close bond and relationship between them.
Although the fact that Y/n and Harwin spent so much time together not only united them, but because of Larys' disability, he always stayed aside and that caused the relationship between middle and little brother to be almost non-existent.
And that brings us to this moment. Today was the second naming day for Prince Aegon II Targaryan, the second son of King Viserys and the first son by Queen Alicent Hightower.
Lyonel Strong's sons stood in front of their tent, near the river town where Aegon's name day and hunt would be held. And this hunting party being Lord Y/n Strong's first.
POV You
I look around excitedly, seeing lords from different houses standing by their tents and preparing their weapons for the hunt. This is the first time father has agreed to let me come on a hunting party and I am beyond excited.
That's not to say that I don't know anything about hunting, as my older brother Harwin takes me hunting once a month without fail and I know everything you need to know to chase and hunt game.
Y/n: What time can we go hunting? - I ask my brother, who is sharpening the butcher knives and ignoring the presence of my other brother Larys.
Harwin: The king has to arrive first.- He answers me without looking up from the knife. -Then it will be eaten and that is when we will go hunting.- He informs me and I nod looking around.
Y/n: And how long until that? - I ask impatiently.
Harwin: In a few hours.- He answers with an amused smile, seeing the frown and exasperated expression on my face.
Y/n: But that will take a long time.- I complain crossing my arms.
Larys: Why aren't you going to talk to someone your age to entertain yourself.- he tells me without any emotion on his face.
Y/n: Because I don't see anyone my age.- I reproach with a bad look.
Harwin: Why don't you go with the youngest of the Lannisters, he's a little older than you but he's still young.- He tells me and I sigh with a grimace.
Y/n: I don't like the Lannisters.- I whisper so that only he can hear me, since father would not be very happy to hear that one of his sons defames or speaks badly about another important family.
But it's not my fault, the few times I've met a Lannister they always look down on me and think they're better than anyone else. I don't like the attitude they take with people and the scathing comments they make.
Harwin: Well, then you have no choice but to be alone or wait with us for father and the king to arrive.- He informs me and I ponder it for a few seconds.
Y/n: I'll be back in a while.- I say and walk around the camp observing everything.
I look at each tent and distinguish the banners of each family of Westeros. I try to find someone close in age, so I can talk to them and keep myself entertained for a while.
But after searching for a while, I give up and decide to go back to my brothers, hoping that the king will arrive soon. And it seems my prayers are answered, because when I'm about to reach our tent, father passes me on horseback and that only means one thing. That the king is near.
So I run the rest of the way to the tent, seeing father greet my brothers and hearing him ask for me.
Lyonel: And your brother? - I listen and stop running to his side.
Y/n: Here, father.- I greet with an excited smile.
Lyonel: I'm glad to see you son.- He greets me with a very slight smile and a nod and I reciprocate in the same way.
Y/n: Likewise, father.- He smiled more broadly. -Is it true that we have to wait until after lunch to go hunting?- I ask with some impatience.
Lyonel: Yes, son, we people who come from the capital need to recover a little energy and fill our stomachs before going hunting.- He answers me with a small grimace.
Y/n: And the rest of us can't leave before? - I ask curiously.
Lyonel: No, the king has to start the hunt and for that he has to be ready.- He answers me with a slight smile. -Speaking of the king, he has asked for you and wants to meet you during the festivities before the hunt.- he tells me and I nod with confusion.
But I can't ask the king's intention to meet me, as there is more noise and the king's carriages appear in the distance.
Father tells us to walk and stand on each side facing the entrance to the king's tent. We placed ourselves from oldest to youngest, leaving me in the corner and next to Larys.
It's not that I don't love my brother or hate him, but there is something about his personality that I don't like and it makes me uncomfortable. There have been times when my body seems to react to his presence, yelling at me and asking me to put as much distance as possible between our bodies.
In addition to that I feel insecure in his presence, as if I would be in danger at his side or being alone with him. So I try to spend as little time as possible by his side, talking to him and especially alone in a room with him.
The king descends first, then the pregnant queen with her third heir, and then two matrons with Prince Aegon II in their arms.
Larys: Clap your hands.- He whispers to me and I do what he tells me.
XX: Long live Prince Aegon, second of his name and on his second name day! - he shouts while the rest cheer and applaud fervently.
I applaud calmly, wanting time to pass quickly so we can go hunting.
As the king enters his tent, the crowd disperses and my father follows in the king's footsteps. My brothers separate and I stay still in place observing everything. Larys follows father's path and Harwin returns to our tent.
So I have two options, enter the tent with father and Larys, or follow Harwin and return to our tent. Whatever you choose I'll be bored in the same way, although with Harwin I'll have a little more fun.
With that in mind, I decide to follow my older brother's path and head back to our tent. But not paying attention, I end up bumping into someone and nearly knocking them to the ground if not for my hold on their arms.
Y/n: A thousand apologies.- I say quickly letting go of the person's forearms and looking up from the ground.
My eyes widen as I make out the platinum hair of the Targaryens and realize who I just ran into.
Y/n: A thousand apologies, princess.- I quickly apologize again, taking a step back and making a bow. -I wasn't paying attention.- I apologize.
Rhaenyra: Don't worry.- she tells me with tight lips. -Can I know who you are? - She asks me tilting her head and joining her hands in front of her body.
Y/n: I'm Y/n Strong, youngest son of Lyonel Storng.- I answer quickly and she looks at me confused.
Rhaenyra: I had no knowledge that Lord Lyonel had three sons and not two as I thought.- she comments and I can't help but sigh sadly.
My father has never taken me to the city, preferring that I stay in Harrenhal and prepare to serve the crown. So it's no wonder someone as important as the princess doesn't know I exist.
Y/n: I haven't been out of Harrenhal much my lady.- I explain briefly.
Rhaenyra: And would you know why? - she asks with evident curiosity in her beautiful lilac irises.
Y/n: That I should ask my princess father.- I answer honestly.
Rhaenyra: In that case, I'm glad to have met you Lord Y/n Strong and I hope our paths cross again.- she nods and with a bow from me she disappears into his tent.
Coming out of shock from talking to the princess and her incredible beauty, I run to my family's tent. Upon arrival, I hurriedly begin to tell my brother what just happened and he can't stop laughing at my erratic state.
Harwin: Have you fallen in love, little brother? - Asks amused moving his eyebrows in a suggestive way.
Y/n: Of course not.- I deny immediately with my eyes wide open. -She's the princess, idiot.- I clarify and he looks at me with a raised eyebrow.
Harwin: And what does that have to do with you falling in love with her? - he asks confused.
Y/n: Well, she is the princess and I am a simple Lord.- I answer with obviousness.
Harwin: That doesn't mean you can't fall in love.- comments with confusion. -It just means that pursuing a relationship as such would be difficult and highly unlikely. But no one can forbid you to fall in love, little brother.- He explains with a small affectionate smile.
Y/n: But even so I'm not in love with her.- I deny crossing my arms. -I only said that she has a great beauty.- I repeat with a frown.
Harwin: They don't call her "The realms delight" for nothing - he comments and I look at him badly. -What?- he asks confused by my look.
Y/n: You shouldn't talk about her like that.- I deny immediately, looking around and making sure no one is listening to our conversation.
Harwin: And why is that? - He asks with a small laugh.
Y/n: Because it's wrong to talk about women like that.- I answer as if it were obvious. -In addition to the fact that father is the king's advisor and Rhaenyra is the king's daughter, so we owe him respect as well as to the princess that is the heir to the throne.- I remind him.
Harwin: Speaking of the king, have you gone to talk to him and that father introduces you as he mentioned before? - He asks me raising an eyebrow.
Y/n: No.- I answer simply.
Harwin: And what are you waiting for? - He points to the king's tent with one of the knives.
I just huff and retrace my steps towards the king's tent. This wouldn't be happening if my father had let me out of Harrenhal and taken him to some meetings in King's Landing.
I enter the tent, seeing nobles from the most important houses inside talking and enjoying the feast inside. I look around, seeing father and walking towards him directly.
Lyonel: Well, here you are.- He comments when he sees me among the people and places a hand on my shoulder. -Remember to be respectful and greet him with a bow as it should.- he orders me and I nod.
Y/n: Yes, father.- I say and walk towards the king, while I roll my eyes at his order.
I can see the princess in the distance and she is looking at me with an amused little smile. I just greet her with a small smile and follow my father's path.
Lyonel: Your Majesty.- greets you with a bow and I do the same.
Viserys: This must be the youngest of your offspring, right? - He asks looking at me.
Y/n: Yes, your majesty.- I confirm with a small bow with my head. -My name is Y/n Strong and I am the youngest of the Strong children.- I introduce myself and I see a small friendly smile appear on his face.
Viserys: And how many name days do you have? - asks curiously.
Y/n: One and eight, your grace.- I answer with all possible education.
Viserys: Young like my daughter.- He points out and I just nod. -Your father told me the other day that you are a good fighter.- He comments and I can see my father's proud smile out of the corner of my eye.
Y/n: I try to be, tour grace.- I answer not wanting to sound too conceited. -My older brother Harwin has taught me everything that is necessary to know in the fight and in the use of weapons. But I can't evaluate my ability without being proud and speaking from my perspective.- I explain and see how he nods pleased with my answer.
Viserys: I see that your father has educated you well.- He comments kindly. -And have you thought about joining the royal guard?- he asks interested.
Y/n: I'm not sure your majesty, I haven't thought about it much and I don't know if I'm willing to give up having a family of my own.- I answer honestly.
I'm still young and I have my whole life ahead of me. To be part of the royal guard would mean to give up my lands, a future wife and the possible children I could have with her. And I don't know if I'm ready to give it up without thinking it through and being so young.
Viserys: I understand.- He nods. -But if one day you change your mind and agree to join the royal guard, it would be a great honor if you did it for me.- he proposes and I can only thank him for the offer.
Y/n: It would be an honor to be in the royal guard and protect you and your family, Your Majesty.- I bow again.
Viserys: You can go, I'm sure you'll be wanting to start hunting and go out to the forest to get some animal.- He says goodbye politely and with a last bow on the way to the exit.
Rhaenyra POV
I can't believe it, how dare he talk to me like that and in front of so many people. If I were a boy, I'm sure he wouldn't put so much pressure on me and allow me to choose who to marry myself.
But no, as I am a woman I have no power over my life and the choices that will affect it. Like Jason Lannister's stupid proposition and his stupid idea that I'm going to live with him far away from home.
Who does that stupid pushy lion think he is, as if I was going to agree to marry him and be his trophy wife. Before I get on top of Syrax and run away so as not to marry him.
Ser Criston: Princess! - he shouts, managing to grab the reins of my horse and stop it just before entering the lake. -What happened to you, princess?- He asks me as he takes off his helmet.
Rhaenyra: It's because of my father.- I answer trying to relax my breathing. -He intended to sell me to Jason Lannister. Was I appointed heir to the Iron throne just to improve the position of an arrogant lord of Casterly Rock? - I ask with anger and pain.
Ser Criston: Do you want me to kill him? - He asks me with all the seriousness in the world and I laugh at the offer. -We should go back, princess.- he tells me, but I'm not ready to go back and see my father yet.
Rhaenyra: It's a beautiful day.- I comment with a small smile. -Let's enjoy the Royal Forest.- I tell him and he can't do anything but accept.
We got off the horses and began to walk through the forest. As we walk, we chat and it gives me a chance to get to know my royal guard better.
Since I don't know much about him and his origin.
Walking, it begins to get dark and by the time we realize it, night has already fallen. Ser Criston lights a fire, while I sit on the ground against a fallen log and watch the flames dance in concentration.
Ser Criston: Princess, I beg you for the last time to come back.- He asks me and I turn a deaf ear to his request.
Rhaenyra: I prefer to be here.- I answer simply.
Ser Criston: His Highness will be worried about your absence.- He tries to convince me, but it doesn't work.
Rhaenyra: Your highness can die of worry if you wish.- I say with total sincerity. -Tell me something Ser Criston.- I say after a few moments in silence. -Do you think the kingdom will accept me as queen?- I ask with sincere curiosity.
Ser Criston: They will have no choice, princess.- He answers honestly after a few moments in silence.
Suddenly we hear noises in the distance, causing both of us to look around and become alert.
Ser Criston gets up from the trunk where he is sitting, wielding his sword and walking towards where the noises are coming from.
But everything happens very quickly, when a wild boar appears from among the beds and launches itself at my guard, knocking it down immediately. The boar stops and turns to face where I am and runs towards me with ferocity.
I fight him, keeping him away from me and trying not to get hurt. When the tip of my guard's sword pierces his neck, staining me with his blood and weakening him.
So I shake it off and try to catch my breath from the shock. But it moves back to my side and not a second goes by when I grab the dagger at my waist, and lunge at the boar repeatedly.
I only stop stabbing him when I'm sure he's dead and can't attack me again. I let myself fall sitting on the ground, feeling the hot blood of the animal on my face and seeing its inert body in front of me.
Ser Criston: I think it's best to go back, princess.- He comments after being silent for a while, trying to process what just happened and trying to calm down.
Rhaenyra: I think you're right this time.- I admit without taking my eyes off the now dead animal.
Ser Criston: I will look for some branches to prepare a trailer so we can take the wild boar with us.- He tells me and I am only able to nod. "Here, to clean the blood, princess," he says, holding out a handkerchief and I use it to wipe the blood off my face.
I have never been as scared as I am right now. I've seen death up close and I didn't like it at all.
But what I liked least and disturbed, is that the person who is supposed to protect me, has allowed a wild beast to assault me.
What would have happened if Ser Criston had been badly injured and had not been able to heal in time? Probably now I would be found dead and the boar would be feeding on my meat.
Once everything is ready and with the wild boar in its makeshift trailer, we set off. We stop for a moment on a hill, where the camp can be seen and I hear something to my right.
I turn my face a little scared, but my body relaxes when my eyes see a deer next to a tree, but not just any deer; a white deer.
Stories relate that white deer are signs of good omen. So I look at the deer with awe and admiration.
Rhaenyra: No.- I order Ser Criston in a whisper when I see him trying to draw his sword.
Once it disappears among the trees, we return to the camp and in complete silence.
When we reach camp and are near the king's tent, I get off the horse. I start to walk towards my tent, but I feel the need to turn my face to the left and there I see him.
The boy I bumped into when I arrived and who made me incredibly curious. I notice the worried scowl on his face when he sees me and I give him a subtle smile letting him know I'm fine, before turning my gaze forward and continuing on my way.
Once back in the castle and disposed of any traces of blood and dirty clothes, I walk to my father's bedchamber.
One of the guards knocks on the door, announcing my presence and when he receives the go-ahead one of them opens the door for me.
Viserys: Daughter, I wasn't expecting you tonight.- He comments confused from his chair by the fire.
Rhaenrya: I didn't expect to see you tonight either, father, but after what happened in the forest I have the need to talk and solve the problem that has arisen.- I comment, sitting in the chair opposite his.
Viserys: And what is that problem you want to solve? - asks between curious and amused.
Rhaenrya: Ser Criston's inability to protect me effectively.- I answer directly and see the surprise on his face.
Viserys: And may I know what this disability is due to? - he asks again, interested.
Rhaenrya: Because last night I was about to die, because of your absentmindedness and late behavior, father.- I answer honestly. -Last night we were attacked by a wild boar and Ser Criston was not able to act quickly and prevent me from being attacked by a wild animal.- I explain in more detail.
Viserys: Daughter, that was an isolated event, no one knows how to respond to a surprise attack from a wild boar, much less in the dark of night.- try to make him understand his point.
Rhaenrya: But what if it's not an isolated event, what if the same thing happens when someone surprises me and gets what the boar didn't get last night? - I ask with interest for his answer.
Viserys: That will not happen.- He denies in answer with certainty.
Rhaenrya: You don't know that, father.- I rightly refute.
Viserys: And what do you want me to do? - He asks tiredly.
Rhaenrya: Find me a more competent personal guard with better reflexes.- I answer simply and directly.
Viserys: I remind you that it was you who chose Ser Criston Cole as royal guard.- He throws me in the face.
Rhaenrya: And it is clear that I was wrong in choosing him as personal guard, but not in choosing him as royal guard.- I defend the choice I made a year ago. -But now I need someone younger and with more reflexes for my personal protection.- I list what I'm looking for.
Viserys: I think I have the right person in mind.- He comments with a small sigh. -But I'm not sure he'll accept.- he explains and I get up from my seat.
Rhaenrya: I hope you choose well and the gentleman accepts.- I say smoothing the skirt of my dress. - Now I'll let you rest, good night, father.- I say goodbye and leave his bedroom in the direction of mine.
POV Narrator
And this conversation brings us to the moment in question. With the king writing a scroll in his bedchamber about a job offer as a personal guard for a Targaryen and the receiver being the young man he met the day before in the family tent.
The receiver being none other than Lord Y/n Strong, the youngest son of Lyonel Strong, royal advisor and Lord of Harrenhal.

POV You
I was enjoying my daily horse ride, when a knight comes up to me and informs me that my brother Harwin requests my presence in the castle. So I immediately head back to Harrenhal.
As soon as I get to the meeting room, I find my brother sitting at the head of the table with a scroll in his hands.
Harwin: Sit down brother.- He asks me pointing to the chair on his right side.
Y/n: Is something wrong? - Ask confused by his serious face.
Harwin: Today in the morning two crows have arrived from the capital.- He informs me when I am already seated. -One is from father and the other from the king,- he tells me, pointing to the parchment in his hand with the royal stamp intact.
Y/n: And what's going on?- I ask even more confused.
Harwin: Father has briefly informed me what it says in the king's letter and who it is for.- He tells me and I nod without understanding very well. -The king has written to you and after speaking with father he has sent the parchment.- he informs me extending the king's parchment.
Y/n: And what does it say?- I ask receiving the parchment somewhat worried about what you can put on the parchment.
Harwin: He wants you to be part of the royal guard.- He answers me directly and I open my eyes immediately.
Y/n: But I don't want to be a royal guard.- I shake my head. - I know that I am the third son and that I only carry the name, but I want to get married and have a family. If I am part of the royal guard I will never be able to do it. - I comment with some sadness.
I respond with sadness knowing that I do not want to miss the opportunity to fall in love and get married, start a family and be happy in the simplest way . But I am aware that I cannot refuse a direct offer from the king and I have to accept it no matter how much I do not want to.
Harwin: That's why you have to read the scroll.- He points to the piece of paper in my hands. I look at the paper, sighing and I do what my older brother says.
I open the parchment carefully, trying not to break the seal and gently unrolling it. Immediately I see a clean and clear letter for reading, with the king's signature at the bottom.

Lord Y/n Strong,
I know from our brief chat in the royal tent during the hunt for my second heir Aegon II and after discussing it with your father, that being part of the royal guard is not your preference and that you want to keep your options open for your future.
But after an unfortunate event, I feel the need to write to you and ask you to accept being the personal guard of one of my children. I know it's a lot to ask and that the idea of getting married and starting a family was pleasing to you.
So I have an irrefutable proposal for you. If you accept the proposal to be the personal guard of one of my children, you will not have to be part of the royal guard and take the vows that would not allow you to have a wife and children.
Also, in case you find a wife while working as a personal guard, I will allow both her and your future children to live in the castle so that you can be close to them.
If you accept the proposal, I would be happy to receive an answer as soon as possible and your immediate departure to King's Landing for your immediate incorporation.
Sincerely,
King Viserys I Targaryan.

I finish reading the scroll, having to reread what it says a couple more times so that I can process what I just read safely.
Harwin: So what, will you accept?- He asks me, getting me out of my surprised state.
Y/n: He is the king.- I answer as if it were obvious. -I can't refuse it.- I deny with a small grimace.
Harwin: At least from what father has told me, you will have the option to marry and have children.- He comments with a small smile.
Y/n: But I will have to leave Harrenhal behind.- I comment with some sadness, since this castle has been my home all my life and now I will have to leave everything behind.
Harwin: And you will know the capital and maybe more places.- He comments trying to cheer me up. -Wasn't that what you wanted to do? Get out of the castle and see new places, because this is your opportunity little brother.- He assures me with a smile full of emotion.
Y/n: I guess you're right.- I sigh with a slight hint of a smile.
Harwin: And you'll be able to see the dragons, ever since you've been right you've wanted to see one.- He encourages me, tapping me gently on the shoulder and I can't help but smile at that.
Y/n: Do you really think they are as majestic as father says? - I ask with obvious emotion.
Harwin: I don't know.- He shrugs. -But as soon as you see one, you have to write me and tell me if they really are as amazing as you think.- he asks me and I nod immediately.
Y/n: Take it for granted.- I assure him with a big smile.
Harwin: Well, send your answer to the King and prepare your things for the trip.- He orders me getting up from his seat and I do the same. -And if you need anything, however absurd it may seem; write me.- he asks me with a small grimace and I nod.
Y/n: Thank you brother.-I thank him before throwing myself at him and giving him a big hug.
Harwin: Thanks to you little brother.- He assures me returning the hug. -Now go do what you should and I'll take care of sending the rest of your things to the capital.- he promises, separating from the hug.
Y/n: Okay.- I nod and do what he tells me.
I know it will be difficult to leave Harrenhal, my home, behind and get used to the capital. But it's something I feel compelled to do, so I plan to keep an open mind and take this opportunity to explore places outside of my home.
Besides that father usually spends a lot of time in King's Landing, so I will continue to see him and have a relationship with him. The downside is that I won't be able to see Harwin as much as I have so far and that's something that will take some getting used to.
Rhaenyra POV
Apparently father had managed to find me a new personal guard, since four days ago he informed me of the arrival of a raven informing him that whoever will be my guard had accepted the offer and was heading to King's Landing immediately.
Father told me that the guard lived less than a week's ride from the capital, so he assumed he would arrive today or tomorrow.
So I anxiously and interestedly awaited the arrival of my future guard, since father didn't want me who he is and personally I don't like not knowing things.
So while I wait, I continue with my daily life and try not to think too much about the identity of my future guard. Like right now, sitting in the godswood and reading Nymeria's story Targaryens .
Ser Criston: The king requires your presence in the throne room, princess.- I listen as he says, making me stop reading and pay attention to him.
Rhaenyra: Has he told you why my presence is required?- I ask confused closing the book.
Ser Criston: No, princess.- He answers me simply. -But it seemed to be something important.- He assures me and with a sigh I get up from the floor and leave the book on the blanket.
Rhaenyra: Let's go then.- I comment and start walking towards the throne room with the guard behind me.
We walked in complete silence, as there was nothing to talk about and I saw no point in continuing to form bonds, when he is to be replaced and removed from my personal guard.
Once I enter the throne room, I observe the place meeting three people and one of them being my father. My father is sitting on the throne, with Lord Lyonel Strong facing him near the stairs and another man in armor at his side.
Viseryon: Perfect daughter, you've already arrived.- He comments getting up from the throne and causing the other two men to turn towards the doors.
And it is at this moment that I distinguish the third person in the room. I recognize him from our brief meeting during the hunt in honor of my half-brother on his second name day.
Lyonel: Princess.- He bows like his youngest son.
Rhaenyra: Lord Strong.- I politely greet the older of the two. -Lord Y/n Strong, it's a pleasure to see you again.- I greet him politely and with a small friendly smile.
Y/n: I say the same, princess.- He assures me with a slight bow with his head.
Viserys: Do you know each other?- Question confused finishing down the stairs.
Rhaenyra: I had the pleasure of meeting the youngest of Lord Strong 's sons at the hunt last week.- I answer my father with a small smile.
Viserys: I'm glad to hear that, because the fact that you know each other will make everything easier.- He assures with a small happy smile and I look at him confused.
Rhaenyra: What do you mean by that, father?- I ask confused looking at the happy look on his face.
Viserys: Because from this moment on, Lord Y/n Stong will become your personal guard with immediate effect.- He answers me simply and I avoid opening my eyes in surprise with all my might.
Ser Criston: Your majesty, forgive my intrusion.- He comments, making himself known and that the attention be placed on him. -But I was appointed by the princess herself to be her personal guard, your majesty.- he says and I see how my father nods his head slightly.
Viserys: I know, but you've also been removed as her personal guard by her too.- he explains and I can see a certain gleam of betrayal in his eyes. -So from now on Ser Criston, you will be part of the royal guard and stripped as the princess's personal guard.- he explains seriously.
Ser Criston: Understood, your majesty.- nods in understanding. -Then if you'll excuse me, I'm retiring to begin my new position.- He bows and leaves the throne room.
Viserys: Daughter, why don't you show Lord Y/n Strong around the castle .- he asks me and I nod looking at the named.
Y/n: After you, princess.- He points slightly to the door of the room with his hand and with a small bow.
Rhaenyra: Follow me.- I say and start to walk towards the great doors of the throne room, listening to his footsteps behind me.
We left the room and with a relaxed step we began to walk through the castle.
Rhaenyra: I did not know that among your plans was to be part of the royal guard.- I comment breaking the silence.
Y/n: That's because I wasn't, princess.- He answers me with a calm tone of voice. -Besides that I'm not part of the royal guard, I 'm your personal guard.- He informs me and that confuses me.
Rhaenyra: And why is that? - I ask confused, turning my face and looking at him over my shoulder.
Y/n: Because I haven't taken the pertinent votes to be considered part of the royal guard, princess.- He answers me politely and I stop short, turning around and coming face to face with him.
Rhaenyra: Can that be done? - I ask between curious and interested. -Can a knight refuse to take the vows and still be part of the royal guard? - I ask again.
Y/n: No, princess.- He denies with a small smile.
Rhaenyra: Then why haven't you taken the vows and are part of the royal guard? - I ask even more confused and more curious.
Y/n: Because I'm not part of the royal guard.- He answers me simply. -I'm here as your personal guard, princess.- He tells me and I still don't understand.
Rhaenyra: But Ser Criston was my personal guard and he had to take the vows.- I comment with obvious confusion.
Y/n: And it would be the usual, princess.- He tells me with a nod. -But your father offered me the position, allowing me not to take the vows and without being part of the royal guard. That is why my armor is different from that of the royal guard, because I am not part of them.- He explains to me and I nod, processing the information.
And that's when I realize that his armor is different from the one Ser Criston wore and that he has his family's emblem on his chest.
The armor is matte black, with small details in red, blue and green in honor of his house. The armor consisted of a chest somewhat tight to his body, simple shoulder pads a little wide and bracers from his wrists to above the elbow on the outside.
Rhaenyra: Does that mean you can take land, wife and children? - i asked surprised, since i didn't know that someone could be a royal guard and not take the vows.
Y/n: Yes, princess.- he nods in response and I watch him for a few moments.
I take a quick look at his wavy-looking dark brown hair, his brown eyes, his straight but slightly wide nose and his full soft-looking lips. I notice the scar at the end of his left eyebrow running vertically, about two centimeters long and just a few millimeters wide.
His eyebrows are the same dark brown color as his hair. They have a solid look, but are well defined and they have a clean look on them.
I can clearly see his sharp jawline, thanks to his short haircut that exposes his diamond-shaped jawline.
Also thanks to the hair, the shape of his cheeks is more noticeable and the definition of these demonstrates the small amount of body fat that he must have. In addition to the fact that her light and slightly caramelized skin makes his features more striking.
It 's clear that Y/n Strong is an attractive and handsome guy, so I'm sure it wouldn't take much for him to find women interested in him.
But there is something I don't quite understand, and that is why my father has put someone who hasn't taken the vows as my personal guard.
Rhaenyra: And yet my father has made you my royal guard.- I comment, coming out of my thoughts and noticing a certain reddish tone on his cheeks.
Y/n: The king knew of my intentions of wanting to marry and start a family. So he was kind enough to offer me this position and respect my future wishes.- He explains to me in a kind way and I nod my head.
Rhaenyra: It's different, but as long as those wishes don't get in the way of my protection, I won't have any problems and therefore neither will you.- I assure him with a smile and start walking again to continue with the tour of the red keep.
Y/n: I promise that your protection will always come first for me , princess.- he assures me, standing next to me and giving me a sincere little smile.
Rhaenyra: I believe you.- I nod returning his smile. -And tell me, how has it been growing up in Harrenhal?- I ask interested and trying to get to know him better.
After all, if Y/n is as competent as my father thinks he is, he will be by my side for many years and it is better to have a certain point of trust between the two.
Because it will be him who, when I am in danger, will protect me and who, if necessary, will stand before a sword for me .
POV You
About three weeks had passed since I became the personal guard of the princess, three weeks away from my home and without seeing my older brother.
The first few nights were difficult, I longed for my bed and the layout of my room. But after changing the position of some furniture and receiving some bedding from my brother, it doesen´t longer felt so far from what was my room at home.
In addition to the fact that in these three weeks the princess and I have become very close. She has told me everything she knows about dragons and about her absent relationship with her stepmother and former best friend Alicent Hightower .
Part of me is saddened by the separation of the princess and her friend, since since I've been her guard I've been able to see that she doesn't have friends her age and that she spends most of the day alone. With me following her everywhere; but alone.
But I can't deny that I understand her motives, for her bad relationship with the queen and her way of acting distant when they interact.
Another thing that has happened is that I have touched a dragon. A dragon! When the princess learned of my fascination, she took me to the dragon pit and introduced me to Syrax, her dragon.
At first I was terrified, because one wrong move and the dragon only had to open her mouth to kill me. But the princess assured me that she wouldn't do anything to me and grabbed my hand to place it on Syrax 's snout.
The dragon's feel was a bit rough, but the scales surprisingly had a somewhat soft and warm feel. It is a pleasant touch and somewhat comforting due to the warmth that the scales give off.
My heart has never beat faster in my entire life than it did at that moment. But I couldn't tell if it was from touching a dragon or from the soft touch of the princess's hand on mine.
I'm guessing it's the former, since touching a dragon and not having Valyrian blood isn't something that happens very often.
It has nothing to do with the most beautiful girl in the kingdom grabbing my hand, pulling at it so I was practically glued to her back and holding my hand from the back, placing my palm against her dragon's snout.
Rhaenyra: You know what I thought? - She asks me sitting against the godswood tree, calling my attention and taking me out of my thoughts.
Y/n: No, princess.- I answer immediately, feeling the heat rising up my neck to my cheeks and ears from my thoughts.
Rhaenyra: I'm bored and I told you to call me Rhaenyra .- she answers closing the book and putting it aside. -So i thought that we'll go for a ride at Syrax.- she says excitedly, getting up from the ground and walking towards the castle entrance.
Y/n: We'll go? - I ask a little scared walking quickly to stand by her side.
Rhaenyra: Yes, we'll go.- She answers me with a big smile. -Because you're riding with me today.- she exclaims excitedly, grabbing my arm and hugging it with a huge smile.
Y/n: No.- I deny immediately, trying to stop walking and stop the horrible idea of the princess.
Rhaenyra: Oh come on, I know you're going to enjoy it.- She complains letting go of my arm and standing in front of me . -You liked petting Syrax , right?- she asks with emotion shining in her beautiful lilac-blue eyes.
Y/n: Yes.- I nod with a sigh. -But one thing is to touch a dragon, which is already scary enough and another is to ride one when you are not the rider.- I point out trying to hide the panic in my voice.
Rhaenyra: Do you trust me? - she asks me looking straight into my eyes, taking a step towards me and being a few centimeters from my body.
Y/n: Yes.- I reply, swallowing heavily, due to the intensity of her gaze and the closeness of her body to mine.
Rhaenyra: Then agree to take a ride with me in Syrax.- she asks me placing the palms of her hands on the chest of my armor.
Y/n: Okay.- I accept with a sigh of defeat. -But if I fall and die it will be your fault.- I point at her and she just jumps with excitement.
Rhaenyra: I'll take care of your funeral.- She assures me grabbing my hand and starting to run towards the stables pulling at my hand.
I just look at our intertwined hands, feeling my heart beat wildly and confirming the fear I had before. The day I caressed Syrax for the first time, my heart did not beat for that reason, but for the touch and closeness of the princess.
And while the princess drags me through the castle to the stables. I can only see her huge smile, full of happiness and emotion. At the same time I see the sparkle full of life in her eyes.
Once we reach the dragon pit , the princess asks them to mount Syrax out for a ride.
I look around , trying to find a way to escape and avoid dying trying to ride a dragon.
Rhaenyra: Calm down.- she whispers to me, standing in front of me again and grabbing my hands. -I'm going to be with you and I promise you that nothing will happen to you.- she assures me calmly.
Y/n: But you don't know how Syrax can react .- I remind her, knowing that no matter how much the rider directs the dragon, the dragon has a mind of its own and accidents happen.
Rhaenyra: I promise you that Syrax won't hurt you or put you in any danger either.- She promises me with a small smile, letting go of one of my hands and placing her hand on the strap of the bracelet on my forearm.
Y/n: What are you doing? - I ask confused, watching as she begins to loosen the strap and drops my bracelet to the ground.
Rhaenyra: You can't hold on to me well with the armor.- She answers me without looking up and doing the same with the bracelet on my other forearm.
Y/n: But I have to wear the armor.- I remember watching my second bracelet fall to the ground.
Rhaenyra: It will only be for a while and Syrax will protect us both.- She assures me moving her hands towards the left strap that holds the chest and back together. -And if you want to feel calmer, you can climb with your sword on Syrax.- she offers me and I sigh surrendered.
Y/n: If the king finds out, I plan to drag you and sink you with me.- I assure her, releasing the right strap of the back and chest plate, once she has managed to release my left.
As I release the right leash, the princess places her hands around my neck and her face is close enough to mine that I can feel her breath on my face.
I feel my neck protector slip out and drop it to the grass next to my bracelets. I pull the armor off over my head, leaving the entire top in the same place as the rest, shifting slightly uncomfortably at being alone in a black padded shirt.
Rhaenyra: See how nothing has happened to you.- She comments without moving away and causing me to swallow heavily because of her proximity.
Y/n: Ask me in a while.- I answer trying to keep my breathing rhythm as normal as possible.
Rhaenyra: And you'll see how you're still in one piece.- She assures me with a slight smile, running her eyes all over my face and stopping a few seconds too long on my lips.
I swallow heavily, feeling my lips dry and moistening them unconsciously  flicking tongue over them.
We parted ways quickly, when we heard Syrax 's roars and we both directed our gazes towards the entrance of the dragon pit .
As soon as Syrax is next to us, the princess climbs on her immediately and stretches her hand towards me to help me up.
I stare at her hand for a moment uncertainly , fixing my gaze on Syrax 's face and back to the princess's hand.
Rhaenyra: I promise you she won't do anything to you, much less put you in danger.- She assures me from the top of the dragon.
Y/n: And why wouldn't I? - I ask uncertainly, accepting her hand and climbing with her help behind her.
Rhaenyra: Because she knows you're important to me.- She answers, surprising me and barely giving me time to hug her waist when Syrax takes flight from my shock.
I just try to process what just came out from between the princess's lips, feeling the air against my body and seeing how the ground looks further and further away.
I ignore what was said, not wanting to give it the wrong meaning and not wanting to confuse myself more than I already am.
So I just dedicate myself to enjoying the trip, feeling freer than ever in my life, letting out a cry of euphoria and listening to the princess's amused laugh at my reaction.
