AU Idea: Everything is the same except the Mo Family runs an opera troupe and Mo Xuanyu is one of the dan performers. He is a lousy actor with a decent singing voice. He forgets lines and has breakdowns a few minutes before the show starts. The troupe only allowed him to perform because they lack members and are desperate to climb the social ladder.

When people ask why the infamous ex-performer is hanging out with Hanguang-jun, Wei Wuxian gives an excuse that he's trying to learn music cultivation because his "family" was terrible and he wants to learn from a real musician

was thinking about how jgy is such a good portrayal female envy and female rage and he fulfills so many common female tropes

he's looked down upon despite being just as good as others of the same age solely due to things he couldnt control like his parents (female envy)

hes assigned to positions of subservience by default because that all his inherent worth due to his mothers status, hes forced to claw his way up the ranks, he has to rely on manipulation, strategy and betrayal, he has to don a fake smile and hold his tongue to serve others

he dedicates his life purpose to his mother and because of that attaches his self-worth to his capability to fulfill his mothers hopes (to be accepted by his father). he has so much of his self worth tied to gaining acceptance to this male figure in his life that he throws away morals, relationships and lives all for his father

in the end hes shamed and thrown away after serving his purpose, which is also a common female trope, and no matter how much he tried, schemed and lied, he doesn't achieve his goals in the end

i think he's such a twisted and tragic character and mxtx is a genius for creating people with such complexity and depth

So i was reading a wangxian fic last night, and it started out great: wwx ran away from yunmengjiang and ended up in the cloud recesses and met lwj and they became friends. I got super excited cuz it was very promising, but then a couple chapters in jc appears and then they do the whole “oh no wwx and jc love each other, they are best bros, wwx left because he didn’t want to cause his siblings pain by them having to be associated with him, jc begs his beloved brother to come back because he will always have a home in lotus pier, etc” and I immediately wanted to throw the whole fic away, but i guess im a masochist (and honestly it’s so freaking hard to find a good wx fic that doesn’t somehow involve the homophobic grape) and kept reading.

That was a mistake, long story short the whole thing ended with both wwx and lwj being best of friends with jc, lsz loving his grape uncle who’s the best and just so amazing and them all living happily ever after. Im so disappointed in myself for reading that crap 😩

Wish I could find that post someone wrote about how in mdzs fics, when Jiang Cheng shows up, the plot and all characters warp to accommodate him. No matter how in-character everything and everyone is, once Jiang Cheng enters the scene, it becomes the most ridiculous fanon mess that breaks even the logic of the story that the fic writer, themself, set up. Op was so real for that.

They have to go on a 14 year long journey to finish the job but by god they will do it. #The sheer chaos in the Audio Drama is really fantastic. Reminds me of those traincar murder mysteries. #The lights go off and there's a scream and then BOOM dead body. Who did that!!! #Okay it was qi deviation and he did it to stop himself from killing his brother. He did it to himself. #JGY sadly has the worst alibi ever though. Both the strongest motivation and also uhhh presence at the scene. #Not to nitpick but as someone who loves murder mysteries - I do feel like even *one* other suspect would have made it stronger. #I get that he tried to make it look like an inevitable Qi Deviation and that it *is* something within the family legacy. #And a big part of NHS figuring it all out comes down to his own perceptiveness and intelligence. #If you weren't close enough to JGY and NMJ of course it looks like an accident. #Sadly 'guy who plays the 'poor little meow meow card'' is also weak to 'guy who plays the 'poor little meow meow card''. #NHS was the better subtle manipulator at the end. That's probably the strongest mystery part of MDZS. And why he's in my top 5. #My man pulled the 'kill him just as he falls from the top of his game and loses everything' gambit and I love him for it.
