The Inheritance

Derek Hale, the Viscount Hemming and only son of the Third Earl of Beacon, was London's most notorious rake. His disinclination to appear with the same partner at social events was well-known; his discountenance to wed, even more so. Which is why no one was more surprised than Stiles when the dashing viscount—and Stiles' once childhood friend—presented him with a proposal he couldn't refuse.

[excerpt]: "Is Graceview Hall your only responsibility? What about love? Your family?" Derek jerked back in shock. She, of all people, knew what happened when he last fell in love. "You are four and twenty," Lady Belmont continued. "You cannot remain on your current path, carousing and bedding anyone who catches your eye. Why, even Lord Deucalion wed this past summer, and he was a reprobate of the first order." Derek may have owed his great-aunt what little remained of his dignity. This, however, was asking too much. "I will never enter the marriage mart," he swore.

For the amazing (and incredibly patient) @elisela, who challenged me with several things:

1. To write a historical romance

2. Make it a Sterek arranged marriage

3. Sprinkle in a bit of Marrish

4. And make it Friends-to-Lovers

I cut my teeth on Harlequin romances and this is an utterly self-indulgent homage to the genre. While it took me several outlines (and as many discarded drafts) to figure out how to make a friends-to-lovers scenario work, I finally came up with a story I'm excited to share! Thank you, elisela, for generously donating to FTH and for giving me something so amazing to work with!😘

Like he gave everything to the eye and it threw him away like he was nothing. He had killed a lot of people and even ones he had loved. He had to kill his humanity and even who he was for it. He spent centuries sacrificing and serving it so it can have the world in its image, So it can have power. And it threw him away without a second thought. For someone who was trying to kill it.

If the theory that the fears are different now, imagine how scared he’ll be when he wakes up, doesn’t know this and thinks the eye cut him off completely. He dedicated his life to it. Now that it’s gone, what would he even do.

I like to think that Jonah was actually a person at some point. before the eye. That he genuinely loved Barnabas and all of them. That he had motivations outside of the eye. Before he threw them away for the beholding. I like to think now that he has his original voice back, and not one of the stolen ones from Elias Bouchard or James Wright, will send him on a spiral. Reminds him of who he was. And what he could’ve had if he never got involved.

I've been reading a lot of your work, and you do an incredible job at everything, especially slow-burn. From your work, I couldn't help but think you would write an incredible story of Aziraphale and Crowley in an arranged marriage AU. (Enemies to lovers???) (Whatever era you'd prefer) It may not be your cup of tea, but I wanted to share the idea in case it ever intrigued you.

It would also be a very creative one at that, considering how you're always able to put Good Omens references in your stories in subtle ways. (Those references are always enjoyable to see) Love your work. Keep it up!

Sonya - a late Regency-era day dress and overlay

This dress was made with one of my sims, Sonya Tolkanova, in mind, hence the name. It's a frankenmesh of @gilded-ghosts's Marianne dress (although the skirt texture is actually from the Fanny dress from the same set) and a dress made by a creator named Marigold, whom I will not be tagging. While I'm pretty sure Marigold has released all of their previously permapaywalled CC (which is kind of them), I still don't respect the TOUs of people who use adfly-adjacent sites. The original dress can be found here and easily downloaded here (direct link).

By "late regency" I mean it would work best for about 1817-1820. Expand that a little to the years it could REASONABLY work for, and you get 1814-1822.

This isn't really part of my 2t4 conversion set since it's not a conversion, but it is still Regency-themed. I probably won't be converting any AF dresses. Boobs complicate things so needlessly, it's not worth it.

In addition to the many swatches for the dress, I made an overlay for the little brooch + necklace thing at the collar. It's pretty basic, you could definitely recolor it if you want more options. That applies to the dress as well. I think it would look great as a spencer-type outfit with the skirt in a different color, but I really tried to hold back and not make too many swatches. They take up a LOT of space.

So far it seems like RTD's approach to this era of this Doctor Who is "I'm gonna have as much fun with this as humanly possible" and honestly? I respect it. Hell yeah let's have a kiki of a show!!
