Little thing I doodled the other night, I was watching a video about Ever After High ripoffs and thought it was interesting that Regal Academy had the grandkids, did a little research on it and decided I actually quite like Grandma Cinderella design, she honestly looks like she’d fit right in Sofia the First as an older Cinderella design. And her daughter in RA honestly looks a lot like Ashlyn from EAH, just a little older and more frazzled xD

got involved quite a while ago in redesigning a character i don't like, from a show i don't like either

Rose Cinderella from Regal Academy

let's go over the reasons for some of the decisions:

abandoned the mini-skirt in favor of a conservative below-the-knee skirt, since the setting of fairy tale characters suggests a connection to princesses -> monarchy -> classic traditional school uniforms, and quite strict in their observance. baby, you're a royal offspring, conform to it

specifically on the uniform - got rid of excessively bright contrasting combinations in favor of a more strict and elegant look. and this belt is incomprehensible…. It's not clear what the hell it's for, so i took it off too.

for the sake of my own peace of mind, i brought my hair color closer to russet and eye color to gray. not that I was guided in this matter by Disney's Cinderella, but I just wanted to, okay??? also gave up knee-length hair, because, honey, you're not Rapunzel.

about genetics - i read an interesting suggestion that Cinderella was generally quite petite, so her legs were small. the girl is positioned as her granddaughter, so without hesitation i made her shorter and didn't skimp on the more realistic physique in general.

Speaking of realistic, i was VERY happy to change her mega puffy eyelashes and huge lips to something more achievable - just eyelashes, obviously with mascara, and, well, not huge lips. she's 16, i don't think she's psychologically ready to wear a lot of makeup every morning, wasting her sleep time. and let's not forget that the school for royal offspring probably has a strict dress code regarding the brightness of makeup as well.

Regal Academy é uma série italiana dos mesmos criadores de Winx, que foi cancelada em sua segunda temporada por baixa audiência.

Além disso a série recebeu inúmeras críticas pelos gráficos que seguiam uma estética mais cartunesca, tendo sido inicialmente projetada para ser uma animação 2D e mantendo expressões exageradas e referências de anime na versão 3D o que fez as críticas negativas explodirem. E ainda tinham as constantes comparações com Winx, série dos mesmos criadores, e Ever after high, série da qual foi considerada cópia sendo que o desenho já estava em fase de planejamento antes disso com o conceito de humor negro em Twisted fairy tales, e posteriormente a série cômica Royal academy que se tornou o que conhecemos agora.

Apesar de todas as críticas Regal Academy era uma série divertida e fez parte da nossa infância, por isso está guardada com carinho em nossa memória, mas não podíamos negar que algumas coisas poderiam ter sido melhores, então decidimos não só reescrever como ilustrar e continuar toda a série e por isso esperamos que pelo menos um pouco do fandom resurja aqui.

Agradecemos a todos que quiserem acompanhar o nosso projeto mesmo que não tenham conhecido ou sido muito fãs da série.

Regal Academy is an Italian series from the same creators as Winx that was canceled in its second season due to low ratings.

Furthermore, the series received a lot of criticism for the graphics that followed a more cartoonish aesthetic, having been initially designed to be a 2D animation and keeping the exaggerated expressions and anime references in the 3D version which made the negative reviews explode. In addition to constant comparisons with Winx, a series by the same creators, and Ever after high, a series of which was considered a copy, and the design was already in the planning phase before that with the concept of dark humor in Twisted fairy tales, and later the humor series Royal academy that became what we know now.

Despite all the criticism, Regal Academy was a fun series and was part of our childhood, so it is kept fondly in our memory, but we couldn't deny that some things could have been better, so we decided not only to rewrite but also to illustrate and continue the entire series and so we hope that at least some of the fandom will resurface here.

We would like to thank everyone who wants to follow our project even if they have not known or been a big fan of the series.

Regal Academy es una serie italiana hecha por los mismos creadores de las Winx, y que fue cancelado después de dos temporadas por baja audiencia.

Además la serie recibió muchas críticas sobre sus graficos que tenían una estética de dibujos animados, siendo hecha originalmente para ser una animación 2D y manteniendo las expresiones exageradas y referencias de anime en su versión 3D, lo que provocó que las críticas negativas explotaran. También tenían las constantes comparaciones con Winx, serie de los mismos creadores, y Ever after high, serie de la cual se consideró una copia a pesar de que la caricatura ya estaba en fase de planificación antes de que esta saliera, con el concepto de humor negro en Twisted fairy tales, y más tarde como la serie de comedia Royal Academy.

A pesar de todas las críticas, Regal Academy era divertido y fue parte de nuestra infancia, por eso la tenemos con cariño en nuestras memorias, pero no podemos negar que algunas cosas podrían haber sido mejores, así que decidimos no sólo reescribir sino ilustrar y continuar toda la historia, por eso esperamos que al menos parte del fandom resurja.

Nos gustaría agradecer a todas las personas que quieran acompañar nuestro proyecto incluso si no tengan conocido o sido fans de la serie.

I've had an idea for a WHILE now (as in like, for about a year ever since I first saw Negative Legend's video on the show) of making a Regal Academy fan rewrite, either in fic or comic form.

The premise is basically the same, Rose gets isekaied to the fae world and Regal Academy itself, wherein she discovers that fairy tales are actually real and she is taken in by headmistress cinderella under the excuse that she is her grandmother. The story follows very closely to the actual show, Rose building herself a close group of friends and having to excell in all her clases.

The actual change is in the worldbuilding, more specifically the magic sistem. It always felt weird to me how the princesses had magic, since their original fairy tales centered around them being human damsels in some horrible situation, where magic from a third party either saves them or puts them in danger. So, the sistem is as follows:

In this world, there are two primary species. Humans, who are born without magic. And fae, who are naturally adept.

Humans can, however, learn magic from the direct teachings of the fae, which grants them the title of sorcerers.

Sorcerers can then teach magic to other humans, but the magic these lower sorcerers have is significantly smaller. They can, however, become high sorcerers themselves if they decide to study alongside fae in their kingdom (a secluded land that not many are privy to)

A second option is that a child is born from the union of a fae and another being, but that is improbable due to the hermit nature of faries.

The third and final option is strictly forbidden, having been concieved as inhumane: to become a witch.

To do so, someone must kidnap and restrain a fairy, extracting the magic from them. Its an archaic form of magical activity, and is no longer practiced. In theory, at least, because 20 years before the events of the story, catastrophy struck when a fairy was found dead in a cabin in the woods, originally belonging to three bears. The witch was caught and encarcerated, but some suspect that she might have had descendants.

This is what Rose and her friends discover to be the case, upon realizing that Vicky and Cyrus are planning to kidnap a fairy themselves. It is now their job to stop them.

However, darker secrets lurk in the shadows. A broken family, a corrupted mother, and a story of loss and vengance that will catch up with its protagonist sooner or later. You can turn off the clock before it strikes 12, and you can turn your head and ignore the ringing bells. But time continues, the magic fades, and all pretenses are dropped once and for all. Truth is oftentimes hurtful, but can you really ignore it for the sake of a "happily ever after"?

The End of Hiatus

Alright, the moment you were (weren't?) waiting for.

Some time ago, I said I would be returning with new images in September, but that didn't happen. The main reason being very obvious, art block and just being unable to make higher-quality images.

Like before, I will upload every tuesday. This time, it may be once every week or once every two weeks, but it will always be on a tuesday. I will still be uploading fanart of Regal Academy, Lolirock, DC Super Hero Girls as well as other series, so if you are watching me for those reasons, I have returned.

And while I'm at it, I will be reviewing the following shows sometime this year.
