Madazon Can-Can is slaying in our Neon Camo Low Back Bodysuit from @sexyblueboutique 🌈💙 Repost via @madazon_can_can Balls deep in my Somatic Sex Educator training when this quote hit me like a freight train: . "The willingness we have, as queers, to face the truth of our own fantasies and desires, and choose to own them and follow them, even if we face horrendous penalties. This is what we have to offer straight people who wish to be our allies-our courageous dedication to our own notions of passion." -Pat Califia . If that don't hit home, I don't know what would. Grateful to be continuing my studies in the apocalypse and finding my unique notions of passion... Posted @withregram • @teachingisintellectual As all eyes (and ears!) are on Amanda Gorman and her journey to becoming Youth Poet Laureate and to the 2021 Inaugural show stealer, framing of her "overcoming" her speech and auditory processing disorder are prominent. I also noted Joe Biden's fluency in his Inaugural address, knowing he must have practiced it tirelessly. This is how ableism shows up, this is what it looks like. They didn't "overcome" their disabilities - they accommodate them, they implement strategies that allow them to mask their disabilities. Accommodating for disability, making space for it, accepting it, honoring it, acknowledging it - this is how we overcome disability as a barrier. We remove the barriers! "Overcoming" disability is a bootstraps/grit kind of narrative. The idea that if you want it bad enough or try hard enough, your disability won't stop you. But that view puts all the onus on the person and none on the environment, the community, the rest of us. It's a harmful myth and it is perpetuated in schools every day. We absolutely must stop expecting everyone to be the same, learn the same, move the same, think the same, talk the same, work the same, play the same, love the same. We absolutely must make room for all the ways of being and dismantle the barriers for all those ways to be included. "Normal" is a social construct. * * * * * #abar #inclusion #ungrading #quaranteaching #SelfRegulation #TeachingIsIntellectual #TeachersOfInstagram #AntiRacistEducation #WeTeach #AntiBiasEducation #TheIsTeacherPrep #TraumaInformedEducation #TraumaInformedCare #InclusiveEducation #RadicalEducation #RadicalEducator #BehaviorIsCommunication #SocialEmotionalLearning #FundPublicEducation #PandemicPedagogy https://www.instagram.com/p/CKWPekqD_SlOmc_dANFvsDdCr0gM6ksfraquQw0/?igshid=eysrvxt5ikvn

Episode 1 of The Doula Is IN
The Doula is IN is a web series featuring Katy Collins, real life birth doula. During her online “office hours,” Katy discusses everything from periods to postpartum depression. Want to know more about pooping during labor? Got questions about your cervix? Need to know more about stimulating that sweet, sweet oxytocin? Katy Collins, doula to the Internet, is here to answer your questions.
This web series started when a bunch of female filmmakers in their late 20s sat down for dinner with a doula and realized that we didn’t even know what we didn’t know about our own bodies! Women usually don’t reach out to a doula until they are already in the birth process. However, as women in our reproductive years in a land where female anatomy has been made taboo, we need a doula NOW!
Direct all questions to [email protected], or leave a YouTube comment!

This year has been a research study in education for me as I substitute teach and contract teach around Portland in a myriad of settings: various charters, private, and a homeschool collective.**
I have a billion thoughts about what I have witnessed, but two factors stand out overwhelmingly above the others: CLASS SIZE and STUDENT CHOICE.
As an impassioned advocate for radical and systemic education change, there is much more I would do to improve this institution--but after spending time in these various settings I can tell you that the places where I see the light of spirit in the students' eyes, where they are most respectful to each other and adults, where the atmosphere feels emotionally safe for them (and me!), and they are most engaged in their learning has been where these two elements (small class size and student choice) are present!
Is it practical? Is it financially viable? What size is ideal? (under 15 in my opinion!) Are there subjects that students should be forced to learn? Is it viable for mainstream education?
There are so many obstacles to creating a healthier, happier way of nurturing compassionate, capable adults. Sigh. Let's try anyhow!
**my lack of OR license prevents me from teaching (even subbing) public, despite 15 years experience in education and half a PhD in education
