Robin: Regina, I don’t quite get what you mean. All of the couples we know are not idiots.
Regina: You just don’t know them well enough then!
Robin: Then do tell.
Regina: Gold bought an entire library for his wife, yet doesn’t know how to say ‘hey, can we have sex tonight?’ Even though they probably had sex before he bou-you know what, I don’t wanna think about it.
Robin: He’s just not used to being with someone. That doesn’t prove much.
Regina: Please. A guy with no face is too awkward to put the moves on a woman who’s clearly into him. They even kissed and part of him still thinks he’s in the friendzone.
Robin: Wait, how do they-nevermind. Still, two examples.
Regina: Get ready for a third then. We’ve got a space alien riding on a ship with an ai that’s in love with him. And they don’t know how to talk about their obvious feelings.
Robin: A space... Okay, but still-
Regina: Oh no, here’s the best one. You’ve got a captain on a time travel crew, right? And her third-in-command is her ‘best friend’. I don’t think I’ve ever seen two people flirt and have eye-sex in my life.
Robin: ... Except us.
Regina: ...
Robin: So, judging by the logic put on display here, we too would be idiots?
Regina: ... Oh fuck.

You didn't have to wait long for the High Lady and High Lord. You had put on a pair of trousers and an oversized tunic that you had been informed was Azriels who was currently out on business. Cassian knew you would completely swim in his own so he had retrieved the slightly smaller one from his brother's room. The holes meant for wings left your back exposed. Your own wings had disappeared when you had gotten injured.
You all sat around the dining room table. The tension in the air was like a heavy blanket. For some reason however you were calm. The scent coming off the shirt you were wearing was soothing you. They all stared at you for a while before you finally spoke up.
“Young huntress, I'm glad to see you are doing so well! You’ve come a long way since your first day in the woods.” She looked at you with quizzical eyes. You gave her a mischievous smile in return.
“I would occasionally watch you hunt when I got bored. Also wanted to make sure you weren’t going to do anything stupid enough to get yourself killed. You caught on mighty quick however.” The approval leaked out of your voice with your words as you gave her a gentle smile.
“I had never realized you watched me.” She said to you with an uneasy waver in her voice. Rhysand picked up on the tone in her voice and gripped the arm of the chair he was in tightly.
“It wasn’t very often since I’d mostly be helping my father around our house and shop. You also were never very good at watching out for other people. You were always too focused on the animals around you.” You said simply shrugging your shoulders in nonchalance.
“Now onto the harder questions, who would like to go first?” You asked the group as your eyes flicked to each of them.
“How are you a Fae?” Nesta asked first, it was the question she was desperately wanting to know. The question that had been eating away at her since she first found you.
“I am cauldron made. The first one thrown in as a simple mortal and dumped out a gifted Fae.” You said as your thoughts drifted slightly to the feeling of being embraced by the cauldron. You were quick to snap back to the reality in front of you not liking to dwell on the past. Nesta gave you a look of understanding. But the group had looks of indifference. You being cauldron made did make the most sense. But on the other hand they also didn’t realize there had been someone changed before Elain.
“How did you come across the wall?” Rhysand asked you voice full of apprehension as he still struggled to wrap his head around you.
“There were about ten of Hyberns men scrounging through the woods. I had been hunting when they found me. I knew it was dangerous being so close to the wall but I’ve always liked a thrill. I really should’ve known better since Feyre went missing after killing that fae wolf Andras.” You nodded towards the female across from you. There was a look of surprise on their face at the mention of the male that had sacrificed his life for the good of his High Lord.
“I tried to take them down but they poisoned me with something before I had the opportunity to unleash hell.” Your nose scrunched up at the memory of the disgusting smell the poison had given off. Everyone around the table had a look of understanding in their eyes.
“I killed three of them before it fully took over my body. Which was something I paid for later on.” The gashes along your back seemed to burn as though you had been getting whipped once again. You shifted ever so slightly in your seat, willing the unwanted feeling away.
“You’re about the age for a female to be married over there so did you leave a husband behind?” You shook your head at Cassian's question, thankful for the change of subject. Even if the question was slightly misogynistic.
“I was taken from my father and that was all. I have been trying to contact him since escaping.” The thought of not having seen your father in so long sinking in had your voice lowering. It was the longest you’d ever gone without speaking to or seeing him.
“Where is he at?” Came from Feyre, your eyes connected to hers before focusing on the windows behind her.
“I’m guessing he is somewhere over here. I went back to our home and there was no sign of him there. Then I heard whispers of the Fae that had come and saved them to give them solace over here. To save them from a disastrous fate. I’m hoping he is safe and that I’ll be able to see him again one day.” You missed your father so much your chest started to hurt as the hope filled your heart of finally being able to see him again. Finally being able to embrace him and hear him call you the beloved nickname he had bestowed upon you many years ago is all you had hoped for. But you had refused to find him until you were somewhere safe. Somewhere that you could call home and could build a life.
“You had wings when we found you but now they are gone.” Cassian said it with an even yet curious tone. You smiled at that and thanked the cauldron for the open back chair and slits in the shirt you were in as you popped the wings back out.
“The cauldron was very generous.” You stretched your wings out and let out a sigh of relief. The feeling of them stretching your back caused a soothing ache to run through your body. You also didn’t miss the look Rhysand and Feyre gave each other, the only ones that they knew of that grew wings on their own command were themselves.
“Those are different from illyrian wings.” This time it was Emerie that spoke up. She was right they were more like the wings of a beast not seen for centuries before Rhysand was even born. They were black as night and pure cobalt blue, the wingspan larger than that of an Illyrian. They were slightly thicker than their wings and went farther down your back by about half a foot. The similarities were the five sharp spikes at the bottom of each wing and a singular sharp spike at the top of each end.
“Yes yes. I’ve been told it’s likely because I have a different form waiting inside of me to be let out.” You drummed your fingers along the table as you thought about the first time the wings had shown up. It was after you had escaped and you were extremely grateful that they had shown up when they did. They did a splendid job of shielding you until you learned how to fly with them.
“And who told you that?” Your eyes found the short yet powerful Fae at the table. Amren you’d take it from the description you’d previously been told. She had arrived with Rhysand and Feyre.
“Helion.” The one name answer seemed to shock everyone around the table. Yet Amren simply narrowed her eyes at you. She was trying to find a reason to tell her High Lord and High Lady to send you back where you came from.
“And how were you able to get a visit with him?” Rhysand was sitting up straighter in his chair. Helion wasn’t known for being malicious or blind eyed. But taking a visit with a stranger that belonged to no court seemed a bit far fetched.
“I asked nicely.” The grin you gave him was purely feline and proud. Cassian snorted at the answer though causing you to send him a wink.
“Why didn’t we see you while we were within the walls of Hybern?” Nesta asked the question lightly. She didn’t like thinking of the experience so she wasn’t sure how you’d react thinking about it.
“I fought tooth and nail so you wouldn’t. I didn’t want you to see me as I was.” Your mouth grew dry as you finished your sentence. You looked down at the table and started scratching at a non-existent chip with your fingernail. A glass of water was placed next to your hand causing you to stop. You took it greatfully and gulped it down. When you looked back up there were many eyes looking at you that were full of pity. The High Lord went to open his mouth but you cut him off.
“It is not a subject I would like to talk about. If you don’t mind, I would like for that to be the end of it.” Hands forming into fists you held his stare. He broke it when a hand laid upon his arm. He glanced to the side and Feyre was looking at him, they had a silent conversation before he turned back and nodded at you.
“Please don’t try to enter my mind again either.” You had felt him trying while you were unconscious. Luckily your shields were still up while you were in your temporary coma. He kept his surprise and embarrassment off his face. Though you could see it in the way he flexed his hand and looked down at his shirt for lint that wasn’t there.
“You must be starving.” It was Feyre that broke the tension. Your stomach chose that moment to let out a large growl in reply. Then the house was setting down food in front of everyone.
“Uhm?” You looked at the food and then up at Nesta. Then your mind snapped back to the water that you didn't hear anyone get up to give you.
“The house is kind of sentient.” She gave you a bored look, the others had already started eating.
“Thank you House.” You called out and in reply you got a plate of berry cobbler. Cassian then mumbled under his breath that he wanted some to but the house only answered with a glass of water.
“How would you feel about coming to training in the morning?” Cassian’s question had you looking at him while picking up a fork to dig into your dinner.
“I would love to. I haven’t had anyone to train with in a while.” your mind went to your time spent in Dawn, training with the guard there many months ago. A smile graced your lips at the thought of being able to see Thesan and his lover again in the future. The group of you ate in mostly silence. They occasionally talked about the High Lord and High lady’s son Nyx. There was talk about Mor and Azriel. You went to bed that night wrapped in Azriel's shirt, the smell lulling you into your first nightmare-less dream since escaping Hyberns grasp.
A/N: The next chapter will get things cooking a bit. Thank you all so much for reading, likes, comments and reblogs are much appreciated.

Rwby beyond March 30th, any theories? What are you hoping gets explored? Please let me see team OREN, 🅱️lease
given how directly salient RH was to neo’s arc in v9, i expect the same to hold true for the CFVY novels in regard to the vacuo arc, and i think making that backstory more accessible to general/casual audiences is one of the core purposes of rwby beyond—giving cliff notes in a brief animated short is a lot less of a barrier than asking viewers to read two entire novels, even if the novels in question are quite short. a succinct recap of what went down with the crown’s insurgency prior to the broadcast and arrival of refugees from atlas + character-focused shorts giving some sense of what’s been going on with the vacuo coalition in the aftermath so that v10 can hit the ground running seems the most likely. a sort of after-credits “where are they now” for v8 but with the intention of setting the stage for v10 as opposed to tying off loose ends.
i anticipate it’ll be in a similar vein to the epilogue animatic—like a more narrative-driven world of remnant-esque series where it’s in-character exposition over a sort of slide show. (what i would ideally really like is if we got the same basic story told in a different ways by different characters, rashomon style, as a way of elaborating on the story’s themes about storytelling and the nature of truth.)
i am not holding my breath for anything to do with salem or cinder or summer, but i would be over the moon to get even the tiniest crumb of what’s happening over there given that they are Clearly Not in vacuo.
given the description of “untold stories happening in remnant during v9 and even beyond” i am wondering if the series will like, end around where the storyboard epilogue does—ie with the reunion after rwbyj return—again for the purpose of easing the narrative burden at the top of v9. i could even see it going as far as settling rwbyj into the New Normal in vacuo (as in, establishing up to the equivalent of where they’re at in rwby x jl pt 2), although that depends on how important the Explanations are narratively (the more important they are, the less likely they’ll be in rwby beyond bc you want to reserve critical scenes for the show proper)
the other possibility is that “and even beyond” means in the past, in which case we might get some “missing scene”-esque shorts set during previous volumes. which i think would be pretty neat.
i would love it if we got a spot or two focused on civilians rather than the main cast—for many reasons, vacuo is the ideal point in the narrative to start breaking down the hard boundaries between huntsmen and civilians and the CFVY novels focus quite a lot on non-huntsmen experiences, so i’m pretty optimistic that this will happen generally but i’d be stoked to directly get a glimpse through the eyes of an ordinary vacuan citizen or mantelian refugee with no connection to the plot whatsoever, and the relative low-stakes of an ancillary “untold (short) stories” series is the perfect place for that. fingers crossed.
in addition to the CFVY novels recap, i’m placing my bets on a short centered on qrow, oscar+ozma, ren, nora, emerald, winter and/or the schnees, robyn and the other happy huntresses, pietro+maria and whoever else is involved with converting amity into a battleship, arrival of aid from vale and mistral, glynda, (possibly) mercury+tyrian, and raven. plus tai if he’s left his cabin. that’s assuming like WOR-length shorts; if they’re longer then these can and probably will be combined more efficiently. but broadly speaking those are the important narrative gaps to fill in.

Hey Red! Huge fan of OSP and Aurora, my question for you is what animated superhero shows would you recommend?
little bee with an incongruously elephant-themed username, you are officially my best friend
Batman: Beyond
Tumblr media
Fifty years after Batman: The Animated Series (which I also recommend, natch), Bruce Wayne has long since retired from being Batman and become a grumpy recluse until hooligan with a heart of gold Terry McGinnis steals the cowl and the fancy suit it's attached to in order to avenge his murdered father and goes on to become the Batman Of The Future, mentored by Bruce. One of the only truly episodic superhero cartoons - almost no overarching plotlines, just character arcs and the occasional villain with their own thing going on. Has a recurring rogue's gallery but also a higher villain bodycount than most superhero shows; villains of the week are not guaranteed to survive their episode, even (and especially) villains from the original Batman run. Exceptionally horrifying plotlines include "man presumed killed in industrial waste accident actually buried alive in horrifying immobilized undead purgatory and animates living humanoid masses of dirt for revenge", "all the cool kids are splicing their DNA and shockingly the dude in charge is evil about it" and "somehow the joker has returned." Also has a surprisingly good follow-up tie-in comic series (and a few less-good ones).
Justice League and Justice League: Unlimited
Tumblr media
The first couple seasons (aka just Justice League) are almost entirely two-parters, mostly character-driven, focused in on the main seven founding Justice League members. The finale reshuffles the status quo somewhat, and then Justice League: Unlimited vastly expands the cast and incorporates basically every other DC hero ever written, but somehow doesn't completely fall apart like other shows that tried to follow suit. Most episodes of JLU are self-contained singletons that focus on small subsets of the expanded League - like "Double Date," which focuses on Huntress, The Question, Green Arrow and Black Canary and is well regarded as one of the best episodes. Features seasonal overarching plotlines as well as self-contained episodes that work in isolation. The JLU episodes that focus on the original seven Leaguers are always fun, but it's also nice to see other heroes get spotlighted.
Green Lantern: The Animated Series
Tumblr media
Do you like lancers? Do you like sad bad boys? Do you like starcrossed love stories? Do you like self-loathing jerks with hearts of gold? Do you like it when Green Lantern is also there? Have I got a show for you! I firmly believe this show only exists to justify someone's OC fanfic romance between the world's angstiest bad boy and a sentient spaceship, and there are only Green Lanterns in it because there have to be. And it's worth it. Also features some deep pulls from the Green Lantern canon like Larfleeze, Mogo the living planet and Saint Walker the first Blue Lantern. Only two seasons and the art style takes some getting used to, but man it's got some high points. Extremely overarching-plot-driven with the occasional more episodic adventure.
Teen Titans
Tumblr media
One of those shows that oscillates wildly between "so lighthearted it's a little tooth-aching to watch" and "so crushingly dark it's unbelievable that this is the same show as those other episodes," just how I like it. Extremely episodic which makes it easy to skip around, which is good, because a lot of these episodes are kinda dumb. Adapts some of the most iconic plotlines of The New Teen Titans, but it's a very different adaptation of all characters involved to the point where it's hard to think of them as the same characters at all. This is not a bad thing, it's just a thing. A superhero show where it feels like everyone is legitimately friends with everyone else, with shipping relegated to the background in favor of platonic dynamics. Main villain isn't allowed to be called his supervillain name because it has "death" in it and that's a no-no, so he goes by his actual legal name instead. For some reason a big deal is made over his identity and face being hidden despite his identity in the comics being Just A Buff Old Guy and his villain name being his legal name he pays taxes under.
Static Shock
Tumblr media
Took me a criminally long time to watch this one, and I've only gotten through the first couple seasons, but it's really good. A solo hero rather than a team, Virgil's fun to watch because his powerset is limited but he's really smart with it. Turns out giving a brilliant nerd electromagnetic powers means he figures out a lot of ways to use them beyond "zapping things" or "magnetizing stuff" and it's fun to watch him figure out solutions to problems he can't just blast his way through. Also while the show had to limit some storylines to just coding and subtext (Virgil's best friend Richie is gay, but the kind of gay that's not allowed to be explicitly stated anywhere except creator interviews) the show is incredibly overt in discussions of systemic racism, police brutality, gang violence, sky-high familial expectations and how Virgil struggles to deal with all those things. Has a very brightly-colored and cartoony palette compared to other DCAU shows, making it incredibly jarring when someone hands Virgil a straight-up real gun in the first episode, which he promptly throws in the bay because he's a Certified Good Boy.
Legion of Super Heroes
Tumblr media
Criminally underrated and only two seasons long! Clark Kent, long before he becomes Superman, gets recruited by a superhero team from the 31st century to travel into the future and help them out with a supervillain problem. He sticks around for a while learning to be a better superhero and live up to the legend he'll someday inspire, including acquiring his suit from a museum dedicated to himself. Lots of fun dramatic irony as an audience is expected to know stuff about Superman that even Clark doesn't know yet, like what Kryptonite is and why his powers don't work on planets with red suns. First season is very episodic. Everyone gets timeskipped in Season 2 and when Superman comes back he's actually been Superman for a while and is a lot better at it now. Standout character through both seasons is Brainiac 5, who is typically written romantically interested in Supergirl and in this show appears to have the exact same level of affection for Superman, which implies that his type is "kryptonians who can bridal carry me" and probably confuses the hell out of the remnants of Original Brainiac buried in his sourcecode. His "true form" is a ten-foot killer robot, which means he chooses to look like a twinky blond. In season 2 he uses a holodeck to play out dramatically dying in Superman's arms, which is around the point where "subtext" becomes "text." Superman and an edgy lancer clone of Superman spend the season 2 finale helping him out in a Battle In The Center Of The Mind versus Original Evil Brainiac, a process I am convinced only takes as long as it does because Brainiac 5 has two Supermen fighting for him and he's not gonna let that opportunity slip away. Take a drink every time he uses the phrase "twelfth level intellect" and finish the glass whenever he and Superman play out a scene that would be less romantic if they kissed.
Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes
Tumblr media
On to Marvel finally! Rock solid through all of season 1, the writing gets a little shaky through season 2 - some episodes are spectacular, some are just okay, and a couple verge on full-on idiot plots. Still well worth a watch, if for no other reason than the broadly incredible character writing. This show writes Captain America so well that when he's replaced with a Skrull in season 2 the audience can tell that something is missing; Skrull-Cap acts the way Captain America acts when written by somebody who thinks he's boring, while real Cap acts like a real person who happens to be an absolute paragon of heroism. This show also writes Thor really well and respects his status as the powerhouse, and broadly all the characters are well handled and make good, smart decisions for the information they have available. This is what I consider to be the definitive version of The Avengers, and its existence is why I'm not mad at the MCU when it does my faves dirty - I know I'll always have EMH season 1!
X-Men: Evolution
Tumblr media
So, SO early 2000s! Most of the younger X-Men are de-aged so they can double up superheroics with high school drama, which means this version of Wolverine is a full-on dad and it's great. This show also invented X-23. Also if you watched basically any anime in the 90s there are a lot of familiar voices, which makes certain scenes very jarring - Light Yagami as Nightcrawler is one of the funniest bits of dissonance. Also for new God of War fans, Magneto might sound very familiar. Quality is hit-or-miss in places - the season 1 finale is kind of laughably terrible and the show mostly pretends it didn't happen - but it has some extreme high points, mostly the Wolverine-centric episodes. Almost every conflict could be resolved immediately by Nightcrawler's powers, so unfortunately he gets knocked out at the start of nearly every fight, which circles around to being very funny after a while.
Spectacular Spider-Man
Tumblr media
The best Spider-Man cartoon, I think! Very much a solo story - just Spider-Man alone vs his massive rogue's gallery, no other superheroes. Extremely quality banter and arcs - several villains have their origins during the series, many appearing in important roles before becoming proper supervillains. Very much an overarching-plot story, and unfortunately canceled before some of those arcs could be resolved, so it ends on a bit of a bummer, which is fairly standard stuff for Spider-Man, tbh. This is a good version of Peter, which is good, because we spend a lot of the show in his head; we get a nearly-constant inner monologue from him so we always know what he's thinking, so he'd better be likable.

Happy friday!!! For Andruil/Ghila'nain, "Blinded by the sun reflecting off the snow" from the winter is coming prompts?
them. thank you for this, it was interesting! kinda an exploration of how i see their early dynamic @dadrunkwriting 1096 words cw: none
It never snowed in Arlathan. The climate tended to be moderate year-round, with warm seasons that stretched out - and the cold seasons were rainy, but it didn’t snow. She had never actually seen snow, although she knew of it through the books and the memories. It was a curious desire, to see it, and something she was hesitant to ask for, but Andruil had asked her what she wanted for her feastday and the truth was simple.
She wanted to see snow. Not conjured but natural. She did not want to simply witness the drifting flakes but to be immersed in it, to feel the cold and hear the hush that it supposedly brought and to see her every breath fog into the air.
“You still haven’t told me what you want, vhenan,” Andruil said as she slipped her toned arms over Ghilan’nain’s shoulders, drawing her near. She always seemed to know her thoughts. She raised her hands to hold Andruil’s arm as she leaned back into her embrace.
“It is a strange thing to want,” she admitted after a moment. “I do not wish to be a burden to you.” Andruil’s laugh was sharp but somehow charming, at least to Ghilan’nain. A bright laugh like this spoke to her good mood.
“This sounds intriguing,” the huntress pointed out. “Please, share your desires. I would see you happy.” Ghilan’nain felt herself flush at that and Andruil pulled her tighter. Her embrace was a comfort.
“I want to see snow,” she said quietly, wincing as the silence stretched on. “I know, it is strange, we can-”
“Snow?” Andruil sounded startled and Ghilan’nain began to pull away, but her arms did not budge. “No, it is fine. A surprise, but fine. Why do you want to see snow, of all things?”
“It sounds so beautiful,” she admitted quietly as she leaned back once more, Andruil’s grip easing. “I want to be in the middle of it, to hear it, see it, smell it. To know it.”
“A very simple request, my love,” she said after a moment. “Why have you not pursued it yourself? The Eluvians are open to you, and some of them certainly lead to snowy climes.”
“I...” she bit her lip as she considered her answer, Andruil waiting. She knew she was of the Evanuris, now. Her beloved had brought her into their fold, speaking fondly of Ghilan’nain’s power, her gift, her strength. Still, the Evanuris were more of a family than a position, and the title continued to feel hollow. She had been permitted to join their ranks - what would be too much, when would that permission fold? And what would happen to someone once embraced by Arlathan’s strongest, and then discarded? “It is difficult,” she said after a long pause, “to pursue my own ends. I feel as if I need permission.” She winced again, hating the weakness of the admission, but did not try to pull away this time.
“My foolish darling,” Andruil murmured, voice rich and warm. “You can take what you want. Will you ever learn this?” There was a fondness to the question, Ghilan’nain feeling strangely like an animal being coaxed out of hiding. And perhaps she still was.
“I’m trying,” she admitted. Andruil hummed, leaning her cheek against Ghilan'nain's hair, then eventually gave her a gentle squeeze.
“Well, there is time for all that. For now... let us see the snow, curious girl.” She drew away to stand before Ghilan'nain, offering her hand. She took it with a smile, one Andruil returned, and they walked hand in hand towards Arlathan's Eluvian hall, with its curved walls and arched, high ceiling, a series of mirrors facing them. All were different: some plain, others highly decorated; some narrow, others wide; some very tall, others scarcely taller than her. The distinctions helped denote where they led or their purpose - the largest served to move soldiers or equipment through, while the smallest tended to lead to either peaceful areas where an individual could go alone without fear, or to a nexus.
Not all mirrors were so distinct. In fact, many of them looked remarkably similar, an intentional design so that only those who knew their way could proceed. But, as with everything else in Arlathan, their craftsmanship was unique.
Andruil led her to one that would open to a nexus and she followed her love readily, familiar with the tactile flow of the mirror across her body. It was a disconcerting sensation, a brief, clinging pressure that always felt like it left a residue against her skin, although she knew better. Andruil was waiting before an unmarked mirror, smiling as Ghilan'nain emerged before stepping through. She followed and-
Snow.
“Oh,” she breathed, smiling at the small cloud the single word produced before her. It was so bright - she hadn't expected that, realizing now that she'd been squinting ever since she'd come through the Eluvian, but it wasn't actively snowing here and the sun was out, the white snow reflecting it like a mirror. “It's beautiful.” Another charming little cloud and she stepped forward, giggling at the unique sound as she crunched through the snow. She wasn't dressed for this in the least but casting a barrier for warmth was utterly habitual, although she released it briefly to really feel how cold it was - before quickly restoring it as she started to shiver.
She looked up, finally adjusting enough to open her eyes properly and meet Andruil's gaze - and her smile. “My strange little love,” the huntress said, her affection evident in her voice. “You are beautiful. Snow suits you.” It was enough to make Ghilan'nain blush, which made Andruil's smile grow. “Do me a favor?” She nodded eagerly. “Let down your hair.” She glanced down, her blush growing, charmed. But she didn't delay, reaching up to unknot the strip of leather she used to tie her hair back, the thick, dark weight of it falling around her face in soft waves. Andruil approached, cupping her cheeks as she stared - before leaning in and kissing her.
Andruil's own hair was braided down her back, but as usual some strands had been left loose, framing her face. Her blonde mixed with Ghilan'nain's brown, a shade so dark it looked black in most lights, although here the rich, warm tones were highlighted by the brightness.
She never wanted this moment to end. The stark beauty around them, the gentle hush, the crunch of the snow, the way each word formed clouds, it was all so beautiful.
She felt that the snow suited Andruil, as well.

I've been watching youtube web series
So I decided to compile a list and talk about them.
Some of these will have spoilers.
All these can be found for free, either on youtube or on the creator's website.
Starting off with some animated series:
-RWBY: "Story follows Ruby and her friends getting into Beacon Academy, a school where they learn how to hunters and huntresses to protect the world against Grimms, but their journey isn't as easy as promised". Probably one of Rooster Teeth's most famous and popular series. The show's premise and the worldbuilding is absolutely fantastic. Though it could do with more diversity, I love the characters, and I enjoyed the series overall. It is still ongoing (as of writing this) and I will admit, I liked the first few seasons more than the most recent ones. The animation did truly get better as the show progressed, though!
(All seasons for free on Rooster Teeth.com. Eng subs available)
-Camp Camp: "Max is a cynical child disillusioned with humanity stuck in a fraudulent summer camp with the ever so happy Camp Counselor David, whom he hates with a passion, though the latter has made it his mission to find a way to make the kid like camping". Staying in the same Rooster Teeth realm, another one of their animated shows! Again, love the premise, and the show lent itself to some pretty serious and emotional scenes. Suffering from... white Christians think they can make holocaust jokes and be funny. Really, the amount of anti-semitism in this show is worrying.
The characters (save... child Hitler) are very engaging and it's been interesting to see them grow and influence each other. And also whatever is going on with the Quartermaster. The magical shit wasn't expected, but... Sure I accept it.
Technically still ongoing, though (as of writing this) there is no news of production.
CW: Dark humor, as stated before lots of antisemitism, some F-word fake-outs, implied sexual contents, a squirrel, as well as a hamster, dies.
(More mature(?) show. Maybe 16+. Seasons 1-3 available on YouTube with a wide arrange of subtitles, all seasons for free on Rooster Teeth.com with eng subs available)
-Bee and Puppycat: "Bee is an adult who doesn't want to grow up. Along with her companion, Puppycat, she goes on various adventures taking the odd jobs to make a quick buck, while all her friends are growing up and moving on around her". Going over to Cartoon Hangover for a wonderful surrealist show that hit me in the heart and had me questioning my existence. It's episodic at first, I guess to let you get a feel for the characters and for the overall universe. Though I don't usually enjoy that, it really does come together in the end.
(First season is available on Cartoon Hangover's YouTube with wide arrange of subtitles available, a second season is scheduled to come out sometime in 2022 on Netflix.)
-Epithet Erased: "In a world where a percentage of the population is born with an Epithet that allows them to achieve great fits, Molly finds herself trapped in a Museum as it's being robbed by two different people with only her Dumb Epithet to protect her. What's so special about this amulet anyway?" I feel like everyone and their mothers knows about this show by JelloApocalypse. If you like beautiful animations and smooth movements... This show is not for you. The animation style will put some people off, but the story is engaging and the characters extremely endearing!
Technically still ongoing, though (as of writing this) there is no news of production.
(All season 1 available on YouTube, full with Eng subtitles)
-Confinement: "Connor, or SCP-XXXXX, is unable to die. The researchers at the facility are happy to exploit him as a D-Class, convincing Connor he's one of them, regardless of the fact he doesn't hold the same freedoms". Do you like SCP? Have you always wanted to see them in a more constructed story? Well this (as of writing this) unfinished series is for you! Seeing Connor go against all those creatures of varying humanity is truly engaging!
(All released episodes available on Lord Burg's YouTube with various subtitles)
And now onto some Live Action:
-Platoon of Power Squadron: "Four superpowered humans walk into an apartment. The start of a joke? Nope. That of a beautiful... Friendship? Well Jonas, Virginia, Sebastian, and Donald live together as they learn that their powers are not quite as they seem". The reason I started this journey in the first place. If you like rooting for the protagonists even though the protagonists are objective jackasses this is the perfect story for you! Not a single one of them is actually a good person, but the villain of this story is even worse. I love how they approached the powers and the universe itself has good worldbuilding.
CW: Lots of references to and lots of attempted sexual assault, instances of mind control,
(All of it is available on YouTube with Eng subtitles. There are talks of a project following the same series)
-LUCIDS: I can't even give a small summary without spoiling the whole thing. It's about dreams and that's just about all I can say. An absolute trip. The start truly confused me and I just about dropped it, but getting through the tiktok-made prologue was absolutely the right decision.
CW: Real unreality shit. Lots of derealization.
(All of it is available on YouTube with Eng subtitles)
-2Kawaii4Comfort: "4 Anime fans prepare themselves to go to an anime convention. A fight breaking through the group causes unforeseen events". Got real serious real fast. The cringe is strong with this one. Really hits you with the ugly side of anime fans. The shitty people that make it bad and take the fun away for everyone else. Suffers from... having slurs in it for narrative reasons.
CW: N-word and F-word usage, talk of mental issues (mainly psycosis), sexual harrassment.
(All episodes on YouTube, unfortunately unfinished, missing just the finale, though in my opinion, it works anyway. Eng subtitles, as well as some others, available)
-The Wayward Guide For The Untrained Eye: "A set of fraternal twins are the creators and producers of The Wayward Guide podcast, a podcast that follows the more unusual stories from all over the country. One day they're offered a story that at first they want to ignore, but as their boss gets interested in it they find themselves in a small town, their worldview shattered" My least favorite (as of writing this) of the whole bunch. I don't know, usually this is my shit, but this story really fell flat. A little too quick, a little too absurd for how much it took itself seriously.
(All of it is available on YouTube with Eng subtitles)

FUCK, I just realized -Ep. 8 is one of if not the most likely times this season for some version of Summer Rose to actually show up. Let me explain.
Ruby reached her breaking point of being So Fucking Done With It All in Ep.7 -she broke, she shattered, she cracked unto her very foundations and it was raw and visceral and lovely (for the audience) to watch. Now she’s run off and is presumably separated from her friends for a bit as both sides process her snap.
This is THE moment for Ruby to do some character introspection and grow as a person -negatively or positively. She’s alone, and as a character who is constantly sidelined by her desire to help others, the only time where she’ll actually look inwards is when she’s forcibly isolated by the narrative. And right now, the narrative is setting her up for some prime solo character development.
My first assumption -and I think everyone’s first assumption- was that Little would help her as she processes alone in Ep.8. They’re her presumed guide in the Ever After, they represent Ruby’s old idealism and optimism, and crucially, they’re the only character who was shown to notice Ruby’s increasingly downcast mood throughout V9.
And while I love Little and I’m thrilled they’re here, they don’t have a lot of narrative pull on Ruby -or, honestly, the narrative at large. They were introduced this season, and they haven’t been focused on a lot. They’re not someone who knows Ruby well enough to reach right down deep inside her psyche and give her the final break/push she needs. But you know who is?
Summer Rose.
Summer’s ghost has been haunting Ruby throughout the entire series (strictly narratively-speaking... unless?). Ruby wants to be a Huntress because of her mom, she has silver eyes like her mom, she looks like a carbon copy of her mom. Summer has been present in Ruby’s story from the very first shot of Ruby in the Red Trailer.
But for all Summer’s pull, actual mentions of her have been sparse -we only got a character model rather than a picture in V6, and anything about her rather than her role as a mother was saved for V7, when Qrow and Ruby talk. Summer Rose mentions have been once, maybe twice in a season, but they’ve been amping up recently, almost exponentially so.
And here in V9, Summer Rose is popping up almost every episode. We see her weapon for the very first time with the Blacksmith, her image is reflected in the mirror behind Ruby in the pun/ponder-storm (and with a new animation model, no less...?), Ruby’s smoke-based self mentions her twice when they visit the Herbalist, and the emblem Ruby carries is revealed to have been a gift from Summer that carried a promise.
Ruby has based her whole life and much of her identity on her mother, and now it’s all crumbling down. The Ever After is actively stripping her ties to her mother and Ruby’s identity is in for a long-due collapse. So when Ruby is isolated and alone, questioning everything that she is and what she wants to be, a representation of Summer Rose would be the perfect final straw to break her ties with her old self.
Anyway that’s why I think we’re actually (finally) going to get a conversation between Ruby and her mom next episode.

I hope that with Justice League and Justice League Unlimited now on Netflix, more people of all genders and ages can get the experience of watching the DCAU. The animated series are not only targeted for kids but can be enjoyed at all ages. I hope with the return of some DCAU shows on Netflix, young kids not yet introduced to good quality superhero shows will get a chance to watch and enjoy the show. I was the kid that was addicted to these shows and distinctly remember watching JL: Unlimited way past my bedtime on my DS. I hope people can get the same joys and experiences I get when watching.

I got questions for y'all!
Okay, so I've been working on finishing up our last chapter (17) while also getting the blurbs and stuff ready for the upcoming vote on the next series. But I wanted to come have a mini little Q&A with you guys first because I have a lot of content ideas/plans so I want to get kind of a overall idea of what y'all are interesting in seeing from me and some feedback on some other stuff too. So, here's my questions:
Are y'all interesting in basically being beta readers for my original ideas/books? Is this the kind of thing you'd all be interesting in seeing? (All original characters, worlds and stories)
If y'all are interesting in original works being included in the coming vote, how many would you guys be interesting in me including? (I currently have 4 or 5 that are plotted out enough to write)
What kind of fandoms would you all be most interesting in seeing? (I currently have some of the following: Sweetbitter, Dragon Age, The Batman - 2022, Resident Evil Village, House of the Dragon)
Did you all enjoy the length of the chapters with the Sandman series or would you like me to shorten the length of each chapter a bit?
Do y'all like the format I've been using (fic title at the top, collage or picture, chapter title & number then the actual chapter)? Or would you guys prefer something different?
Now that the Sandman series is over (for the time being), do y'all still want to be tagged in my posts or would you like me to axe the current list and make another?
Thanks so much for all the love and support and for taking the time to answer these if you're comfortable! ❤ Y'all are the best!

Fucking hell, someone wrote a hitpiece on Ice queendom, calling Weiss Schnee the fictional embodiment of White Supremacy (not RWBY proper, RWBY Ice Queendom). Will send if you're drunk enough to rip it a new one.
RWBY: Ice Queendom’s Weiss Schnee Embodies White Supremacy (cbr.com)
Do not click the link. Not because this is virus filled nor gore filled nor am I begging for you to not fact check me-
But because you'll be giving them money.
Another main character who is determined to become a Huntress is Weiss Schnee, the wealthy daughter of Jacques Schnee and heiress of the highly profitable Schnee Dust Company. To accomplish this life goal, Weiss enrolls in the Beacon Academy and is placed in a group with Ruby, Yang and Blake after she successfully survives her entrance exam. Despite Weiss wanting to forge her own path in life as opposed to being bound to her family legacy, she quickly proves to be an unpleasant person to her teammates and many other people at her school. While there's no question Weiss is a highly skilled fighter, her narcissism is the worst thing about her, as it is shaped by white supremacy.
Okay so first off- There is no races in Remnant. There are humans and there are Fanaus, who are basically a different species. Yes people have different skin tones but no one cares about that and they can come from any Kingdom or location. So 'white supremacy' doesn't even fit.
Second- Weiss very much DOES want to follow her family legacy. Ice Queendom STILL exists with the context of the original series which showed that Weiss' family was originally a good and well meaning group with her maternal grandfather Nicolas, only recently turning sour with Jacques taking over. Which parallels the WF with Blake, Ghira and Adam/Sienna. Kind of an important detail.
Throughout RWBY: Ice Queendom Episode 1, audience members are shown the highly privileged world Weiss is born into. One thing that stands out right away is how much her lifestyle resembles that of a European elite from the 18th century. Apart from living in a large, luxurious mansion that's accessible to no one outside their circle, it's also established that the Schnee family amassed their wealth by hoarding the world's most valuable resource and profiting from it. This alone is indicative of a history of exploitation colonialism -- a major hallmark of imperialism, which also comes from a place of white supremacy.
Yes, a European elite...which includes all of the life and death fights and famlial abuse one could ever ask for.
Yeah uh, for the like 0.2 people reading this that don't know this- Weiss had to fight a rigged battle against a deadly Grimm to go to Beacon and not Atlas, which would keep her under her father's direct thumb. She has also been shown to be used and ignored by her father, up to and including financial abuse through cutting her off when she didn't talk to him and using her for a PR stunt despite her clear discomfort and after a DEEPLY TRAMUATIC EVENT.
Also- the Schnee Dust Company doesn't hoard shit. They MINE and REFINE Dust. Are they predatory and drive out competition? Yes but that is not HOARDING.
Further building on the theme of exploitation colonialism is how the Schnee family exploits the labor of a vulnerable population known as the Faunus. Although they resemble human beings, they have some animal-like traits that cause the Schnees to abuse them like animals. This is no different from the way real-life white European settlers exploited and abused Black and Indigenous people through slave labor. Within the context of Remnant, the Schnees' abuse and exploitation of the Faunus is what led to the radicalization of some group members known as the White Fang, who fight for their liberation by hurting the Schnees' profits.
No, it's more similar to Jim Crow laws in that Atlas society still looks down on Fanaus so they don't get as many rights. The Schnees don't OWN them, they are just used like it. Not to mention the SCHNEES don’t do it- JACQUES SCHNEE does. Willow, Whitely and Winter never abuse any Fanaus in the show and Weiss does the OPPOSITE. But hey, nuance written by two drunk guys is just too much to handle eh?
Also, the WF isn't focused on cutting into the SDC's profits- That is never once stated. And in the show, it’s clear it’s just basic retaliation for their business practices. Which even Weiss doesn’t agree with.
The family's abusive treatment of the Faunus and other groups is further reflected in Weiss' own treatment of her classmates at the Beacon Academy. On her way to the school entrance exam, where she has to work alongside another classmate to fight her way through a forest and collect an artifact, Weiss is seen talking over lower-class students commenting unfavorably on her family. When they especially discuss the Schnees' exploitation of their workers, Weiss' bigoted views of the lower classes and Faunus really come through, and tends to categorize people in extremely black-and-white terms: groups of people are either all good or all bad.
...Did you break into my grandpa’s stash or something?
Weiss only ever talks down to Ruby and Jaune. With Ruby, it was because she was acting immature and not taking things seriously. With Jaune it’s because...he’s Jaune. Everyone shits on Jaune. His own voice actor shits on him. That’s just who Jaune is.
None of this has ANYTHING to do with them being class or status or...whatever! It has to do with Weiss being a stereotypical spoiled princess archetype.
Oh and Weiss only ever judged the Fanaus...who she was only exposed to through the terroristic White Fang. She never claims humans are better so not only is the ‘white’ in white supremacy dead here- so is the SUPREMACY PART.
Another major hallmark of Weiss' white supremacist upbringing is her tendency to subscribe to her own exceptionalism, which blinds her to the reality of her place as an oppressor with unearned privileges among disenfranchised people. This is mostly notable through her tendency to disregard other people's rules so that she always gets her way. Her first attempt at "bending" the rules in her favor came in the form of trying to recruit Pyrrha into her group for the entrance exam, even though the rules explicitly stated she had to team up with the first person she encountered in the forest.
It. Was. A. JOKE.
Look, I know that they’re talking about Weiss in Ice Queendom so it seems that I shouldn’t be judging them based on the original show...but Ice Queendom wasn’t made to exist in a vaccum. Judging from how it cut certain parts of the show- It’s made to exist ALONGSIDE the original, not as a replacement. That’s why it can get away with cutting JNPR’s scenes- it’s not meant to replace the original but be a side story focused on Team RWBY. It’s also why they have so much focus on iconic scenes from Volume 1- Fanservice.
You need the context of the original to be primed for Ice Queendom. But this article seems to be completely IGNORANT of the original. So they keep fucking up.
Oh and P.S. Blake, that disenfranchised person, had a loving father and mother. Something Weiss never had. ... Really shows you how this oppression bullshit can fall apart huh?
Weiss' reasoning for wanting Pyrrha in her group is the same reason she rejects offers from other students like Jaune Arc; she perceives Pyrrha to be of a superior human race, whereas she thinks of Jaune as being in a class beneath her. Although Pyrrha acts coolly around Weiss to maintain group harmony, it's clear she's not impressed with her narcissism and avoids her in the forest when the entrance exam starts. When it becomes clear to Weiss that she isn't going to get her way, she paints herself as the victim and blames other people for her own actions.
Please...go back to claiming Jaune is a misogynyist. Because we found something even dumber than ‘Jaune Arc is wish fulfillment power fantasy’.
Weiss' final attempt to get her way comes after the entrance exam, when she is placed in a group with Ruby, Yang and Blake, with Ruby appointed as leader. Since Weiss cannot fathom being instructed by a student she considers beneath her, she tries to get the school headmaster to reverse his decision and appoint her as leader, believing she is better qualified for the role due to her hard work and social standing. To her surprise, however, the school headmaster states that her very narcissism makes her a poor candidate for leadership.

... You didn’t even watch Ice Queendom did you?!
For the role of leader, the school headmaster needs a student who can work with each team member unbiasedly. It is for this reason that Ruby was chosen to be her group's leader and not Weiss. It finally becomes clear to Weiss that if she's going to stand a chance at Beacon Academy, she needs to unlearn her white supremacist thinking and work on being a better person.
White people don’t exist in Remnant.
It was never said directly WHY Ozpin choose Ruby in EITHER version.
Port was calling her out for acting entitled.
Ruby and Weiss are both humans.
Port is NOT THE FUCKING HEADMASTER.
Weiss never speaks about people’s class in the show.
She also never ascertains that humans or herself are better.-
The one line in the whole article that was right was ‘work on being a better person’. And congrats- you understand what CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT is.
1/100 is still an F.

Nocturne
It was a vampire fantasy webcomic by Amber Avara (AKA ambattii or amberavara).
The comic follows Alexis Baine, an aggressive and practically apathetic granddaughter of the deceased world famous vampire huntress Anita Baine who wants nothing more than to live a normal life as a part-time bartender at her friend Brandi’s nighttime bar. Unfortunately, due to a number of murders caused by a rogue vampire serial killer that harms her friend, she ends up having to team up with a vampire glam rocker named Vespyr to explore Midnight City and investigate/talk to different straggling vampire citizens in hopes of uncovering the identity of the serial killer in question. An adventure that might end up revealing some hidden truths in the city’s past.
It’s just another sort of detective webcomic with a fantasy element attached to it that starts off pretty weak in the beginning and runs out of steam at the end. Art gradually gets better, but the story definitely needed some better retooling to actually pull in any interested reader towards the premise. Creator seems to be trying to change and adapt the comic into a fully animated pilot, so that’s something to look forward to if this version of the series sparks an interest in the creator’s work.
The comic’s hard to search for due to the generic name, so use this link here.
For some reason I think I’ve heard of this comic before and what the fuck is that. This looks like something that would air on modern Cartoon Network. I say if the author wants their work to succeed they should get an expert on the field to review their comic....or they can settle with me tearing this comic apart!

the Definitive strilonde robin preferences this is all objective opinion. ive got no narratives im pushing
Dirk: would fucking love Tim Drake. I dont think tim is his first robin at all, but tim would end up being his favorite in the end. tim is ride or die for his friends, a lil unhinged, and has that 'everything is my fault forever' kind of mentality that i think dirk would relate to too hard at first and then, ultimately on going to therapy and putting the work in, would look back on with a fond kind of exasperation. But in the end, he has a soft spot for Stephanie Brown that's a mile fucking wide. You look at that girl and tell me he wouldn't project Roxy onto her. When asked his favorite robin he will say Steph', but if you ask him who he relates to it's a Tim.
Hal: Damien. Next question.
Bro: lol his fave is Azrael Jason Todd, but only post resurrection Jason ala under the red hood 'the only way everything is good is if it's under my control' behavior. This is a man who would look at batjokes and call it relationship goals. Unhinged <3 He doesn't like any of the robins when they're robin, but Damien is the one he tolerates the most as robin, if only because he knows what it's like to be a hyper competent baby with a sword that everyone says he shouldnt have and he respects the murder. Prefers the injustice timeline where he kills Dick on accident and gets abandoned by the family for it because he's a jaded old fuck who assumes that the worst will always happen forever.
Roxy: Projects deeply onto Dick Grayson. Eldest Daughter Syndrome is a bitch when youre an only child and only she and dick grayson understand. real 'you are the only bitch here who gets me' hours. The silly goofs, the look at me all the time or I'll combust discowing suit mellowing out into the one with their shit together TM? the fact that their shit is still not together and the only thing in the fridge is dubious food and a wilted head of lettuce because they were going to eat a salad but kept putting it off is also in character. yeah Dick Grayson is her poor little meow meow (and she projects a lil onto the aforementioned Stephanie Brown for obvious reasons)
Mom: Ace the Bathound! She watched Kypto the superdog growing up and she counts him as a robin because what else would he be? (in truth shes doesnt have much of an opinion. but she does think it's funny how Bro would get pissy with her for saying it. she can be a little bit of a troll. for funsies) I think she'd like Lucius Fox for human batfam members. Alfred as well, she loves a charming man.
Rose: Her favorite batfam member is Barbara or Kate, but her favorite robin is probably Duke. I think his search for his family would probably just hit her too close to home not to immediately latch onto him. Plus he's really smart, like trained to take down the riddler smart? Like refused to be a robin and is only an ex-robin by technicality smart. (and rose would love arguing both that he does and doesn't count as a robin depending on who's asking because she would think it's funny)
Rosalind (alpha mom): Huntress, but the og Huntress would be a get for her. a little bit more modern and she's saying Kate as well. Jason is her favorite Robin, but only conceptually. She hates most comics he's in and has taken to writing her own version of him that using bits of canon she likes. as is the prerogative of all comic fans eventually. All blades Jason + magical pit rage as a metaphor for ptsd is her canon
Dave: Difficult one... I think, much like Rose, he's got a favorite batfam member but his favorite robin is harder for me to pin down. Cassandra's backstory gets to him. I think he'd have a soft spot for her and Harper Row? Terry McGinnis is his favorite though. No Doubt. hes the perfect age for animated series batman beyond to be his Go To batman that all other batmen must stack up to. Sorry, bruce wayne whomst? As for robins... hm. I think he might genuinely not care? I can't say one that sticks out to me as dave bait in particular. i dont know. I could see robin jason having his own appeal to Dave. A sweet kid that's put into terrible circumstances, becoming a symbol of protection and safety to people just like him would really appeal to him. I think Jason's death would fucking gut him though and I dont wanna subject dave to that :(
Davesprite: For Sure Jason now, but he says it's Tim. Tim being replaced as Robin probably fucks with him the first time he reads the "Bruce lost in the time stream" arc.
David (alpha bro): His fave is Selena Kyle (which is dubious on how in the batfam she is depending on the writer, but she is in his heart) I know this man still watches Saturday morning cartoons on the reg, so he also latches onto Terry as soon as he see him, but... (and this is sacrilege David, I could have you burned at the stake as a witch for this) ... he considers Terry a Robin.
