character design commission for @queenofnohr

it's an alternate form for an existing OC, so the epic isopod tail wasn't actually my idea sadly. key concepts to design around were "bodhisattva", "crystal goddess", "underwater statue", and "dead coral reef". the phenomenon of how there are various statues of heracles as one of the buddha's protectors thanks to alexander the great's eastern conquests also formed a big inspiration, since the lore(TM) behind the design involves him being interpreted as icon of salvation and forced into the role by other people's worship.

the two layers of sleeves and similar fabric around the spines are all to give the illusion of multiple arms characteristic of bodhisattvas. the shape of the spines is meant to invoke fishbones, the inner layer of jewelry are gills, and the tassels on the outer ring are both a fish spine and reminiscent of his own isopod tail.

I got the design for the body down pretty fast but all the stuff around it went through a bunch of concepts before settling on this one, I played around with seashell and jellyfish shapes a bit and even some wings before settling on more of a ceremonial altar feeling to designate him as object of worship at the center.

Hi, if I remember correctly a while ago you've commissioned someone to translate that one Mozart vs Phantom comic? I was wondering if you could link me to the post/remind me what the contact info of the translator(s) was. Or maybe share how to find translators for fandom content in general since it's been a rocky search for me...

the translator I commissioned for that comic is @queenofnohr. @kaibutsushidousha often does fandom translations too but I don't know if they'll do it on commission basis, you'll just have to ask. both of them are friends of mine so I can't really tell you how to find translators in the wild, I would suggest just keeping an eye on who does translations in your fandom (kaibutsushidousha is comuncountinho on reddit and often translates lines and profiles for servants) and asking if they take commissions
