a "you're home earlier than i expected" kiss for brightwell

For some reason, she’s still in his bed. Time is moving in slow motion, like she’s stuck in honey, the sun just starting to set and paint his entire apartment golden.

Dani probably should have left a while ago. Probably around the same time Malcolm did, when Gil called and asked him to meet him for a drink, because it was Jackie’s birthday, and he really did not want to be alone.

Really, she should have gotten up and followed him in the shower and then walked out the door with him so she could go home and get changed and take a moment away from being completely and utterly wrapped up in Malcolm Bright, but once he hung up the phone with Gil, Malcolm rolled over and pressed his lips to hers, and she all but melted into his sheets.

“You don’t have to leave, if you don’t want,” he said, lips moving their way down her jaw, and Dani decided right then that she wasn’t going to leave. She was going to stay and wait for him to come home, and then kiss him and coax him back to bed and just let this thing they suddenly had develop in real, honeyed slow-motion time.

So that’s exactly where she is, still in his bed, wrapped in his sweatshirt, scrolling through her phone aimlessly when Sunshine flutters across the room to her cage, dragging Dani’s attention away from her useless twitter feed.

Sunshine chirps and Dani is suddenly much more awake. And aware of the fact that she is still in Malcolm’s bed, and there is very good chance that she is about to be caught.

Sunshine alarm.

That’s what Malcolm had called it the last time Dani was over and Sunshine suddenly started chirping excitedly at the stairs.

“The Sunshine alarm,” he said, almost lazily, his hands still playing with her hair. “That means someone is coming.”

Dani froze, and then Malcolm was out of bed and pulling on a shirt and Dani was hastily gathering her clothes and rushing to his bathroom.

It wasn’t because they were a secret, because they weren’t. They were just new. Still figuring it out. Not at all ready to tell his family, or anyone at the precinct, because it was still just theirs.

That time it was just Ainsley, with a bagel and coffee and a complaint about Jessica, so once Dani was put together she exited the bathroom and they fabricated some story about her stopping by for a case and it worked somehow.

But Ainsley was in Vermontchasing a story, and Gil was with Malcolm and they hadn’t been out too long yet, so the only other person with a key that Dani knew of was Jessica Whitley herself, and that last thing Dani needs right now is to face her sort of boyfriend’s mother.

Because while it is still not a secret, she’s still not really ready to talk about, especially not with Malcolm’s mother. Who, if Dani is being a little honest, scares her just a bit.

She jumps out of bed so quickly she almost falls to the floor and then she cannot find her pants, and she’s still not sure exactly where she can hide in his ridiculous apartment when Sunshine’e alarm chirp turns to excitement and the door swings open, and Dani is caught.

Caught in nothing but an old Harvard sweatshirt and her underwear by her not yet boyfriend.

Malcolm’s head falls to side as he takes her in, standing there like deer in headlights in the middle of his apartment.

“Well, hello there,” he says, smile splitting across his face, and Dani deflates, all of the tension floating out of her body at the fact that the person standing in the door is not Jessica Whitley.

“You’re home earlier than I expected,” Dani says, making her way across the room so she can drop her hands on his shoulders and pull him in for a kiss. His hands instantly wrap around her waist so he can pull her closer and Dani lets herself melt into him.

Malcolm pulls back first. “Gil wanted to go and get dinner at the restaurant where he brought her on their first date, and said he wanted to go alone. He wouldn’t listen to my protests, so I walked him there and then came home. I’m going to call him later though to check in.” One of his hands slowly slips under her sweatshirt. “I wasn’t sure if you would still be here.”

Dani smiles at him and runs her hands through his hair. “I thought you were your mother.”

Malcolm shivers and presses another kiss to her cheek. “That explains the terrified look in your eye when I caught you.”

“I don’t think it would go very well if your mom found me alone in your apartment without my pants. She might have some tricky questions.”

“Hmm.” Malcolm kisses her again, for real this time, and then he’s walking her back toward the bed, and Dani can’t help but smile as his tongue flicks out slide against the seam of her lips. “Maybe I’ll just have to introduce you to her as my girlfriend when you do have your pants on then.”

Her breathe catches in her throat. “Oh, I’m your girlfriend now, am I?”

His eyes widen and his cheeks turn pink, and he’s so adorable she might just lose it.

“Only if you want to be,” Malcolm says, and she rolls her eyes at him before capturing his lips again.

“I do.”

“You do?” He asks, and she’s nodding and pushing him back the final few feet to him bed until they fall and she lands on top of him, pressing her mouth against his once they settle.

“I really, really do.”

#too bad i deleted most of my collection because i was trying to make room on my computer :(( #thought that was the culprit but it turns out it was my fucking spn collection LAUGH all those hours of dl gone... #i wanted to make this edit for pson week awhile ago but because i was on vacation i was unable to make it until afterwards #never got around to making it :(( now i wish i had that episode....wish to gif again...

as someone who participated in the savelucifer campaign and won here is how i remember it was

1. tweet with TWO hashtags, not more than that because it gets marked as sp/am and it's harder to trend. so let's say #saveprodigalson and #pickuprodigalson which is the same tags we used back then. (edit: i think we are using #saveprodigalson and #prodigalson tonight)

2. choose specific times to try to trend by having rewatch parties as a fandom etc and tweet.

3. BE NICE to whatever network could consider saving the show and do not bad mouth fox in tweets that are for a pick up. hbomax is who i am focusing on since they already carry the show. netflix has actively said not to ask them anymore so i would also focus on amazon prime and hulu. perhaps shudder as well since pson is rather dark.

4. there are petitions we could make but honestly they don't do much. there is no harm is signing them though!

5. understand that this show has a smaller but passionate fanbase and it might not happen and could take a lot of time if it does.

2020 Creator Wrap: Favorite Works

I was tagged by @tarlosbuddie, @letitialewiss and @brilliantbanshee who are all very talented creators, thank you!

rules: it’s time to love yourselves! choose your 5 (ish) favorite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc.) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world in 2020. tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome work!

1. Unleashed (Prodigal Son). I mentioned this one a ton before, but it’s the best thing I’ve ever written. I still can’t believe the productivity I had at the start of the year, it was insane. I worked really hard on it and included a lot of details. I’m really proud of my depiction of everybody and the relationship between all the characters. (having this one in the year makes it unfair to the other PSon fics I wrote that are really good, but unfortunately can’t beat this one)

2. Curve Ball Field (Limitless). I worked so hard on this one and I’m really proud of the result. Kidnapping fics are complicated to plot with all the details. I had to figure out how Brian could get kidnapped while on NZT and then figure out both sides of the story within the specific timeframe. But it turned out great and I was really happy with it.

3. Another Chance (Station 19). First of, this one might have the best summary I’ve ever come up with. I just love this one, not because it’s the best or I worked that hard on it, I just love it.

4. Ashes Eventually Scatter (Harry Potter). I never mention the 1998 fics, but I feel the need to do so now, because finishing that series I started in 2015 was kind of a big accomplishment, and yet I forget it happened this year (fun fact: i was going to write one or two more fics in this series and i used the idea for one i scrapped in Off Balance for 911 Lone Star). This one isn’t the last of the series, but it is my favourite of those I wrote this year. I was pretty happy with how I depicted the Slytherins with how they grew up together and then the struggles they faced surrounding the war.

5. Another Heart Robbery (911 Lone Star). This one was so much fun to write. And I loved getting to incoporate my love for Leverage and White Collar into creating an AU for another fandom.

6. Good Things Don’t Come Easy (911). I have to include a 6th because I just wrote so many things, and I couldn’t not include 911 which is a show I discovered this year and yet that fandom somehow became my most written for on ao3. This was my first actual ace character fic, so it was a big deal for me to finally write something like this. I had done demisexuality years ago when I was still figuring this out, and I had done implied asexuality, but I had never done a fic actually focused on an asexual character and really going into those feelings. But I’m comfortable and settled in my identity now and it was great to explore that within a ship I enjoy.

This was really hard to do. I have written 72 fics for 10 fandoms this year, it’s a lot. But I’ve been feeling like I can’t write anything good lately and turns out I posted a lot of great stuff this year, so that’s a good exercise to do, really helps you remember that you can actually create good things.
