can we meet again once more?
she falls asleep unbeknownst that her dream-self is awaiting to meet with dawnbreaker, but this time dawnbreaker wishes to talk to her about something personal.
note: thanks to this quote i found on tumblr that made me immediately think of dawnbreaker and @zayne-snowman for being an awesome zayne roleplayer (gimmick blog is a new term that i actually genuinely like and will use it now), since reading their posts of people interacting with dawnbreaker, it made me adore zayne even more as a rafayel girlie aheh. anyway!
to those that read this, i hope you enjoy!
warning: angst once more (this will be my stamp), slight hurt with comfort, he will do anything to ensure she is ok whether mentally or physically, hints of pieces from foreseer myth if you squint
another day of being a hunter has passed and the city is as peaceful as i can be. that was her duty and she loved to provide that help in not only protecting the city, but also protecting her fourteen year old self.
now she can return home and settle herself in bed where unbeknownst to her, she would meet a man that she forgot in the waking life, but remembers very well in her dreams. as she falls asleep, a warmth surrounds her more than her blanket, there is a smile on her face that translates to the one in her dreams as she felt warm arms wrap around her body.
the man was silent, burying his face against her neck and inhaling the sweet scent of her perfume and letting it linger in his senses, allowing himself to engrave it into his mind for when he must let her go once more. she remained where she was, unsure of how she got here, but the man standing and hugging her from behind like she was the most delicate snowflake in a world full of snowstorms was no stranger to her.
“i’m sorry, dawnbreaker… did i make you wait for too long?” she asked softly, raising her hands to rest on his arms, squeezing them gently as she turned her head to brush her lips gently against his temple.
he shook his head, holding her closer. “no, not at all. in fact, if you don’t know, i’ll remind you… i will wait for however long i need to just to see you and hold you like this again.”
she smiled, although it was a mix of sorrow and happiness, two emotions that could never coexist with one another, yet were easy to conceive. then, she turned around and cupped dawnbreaker’s face, her fingers gently drumming against his cheeks as she gazed up at him.
“even if the certainty of me returning is little to none? you would risk that much if it meant you’d see me again? am i really worth that much?”
it had been a question that was stuck in her mind like a fly in a venus fly trap, no matter how much she tried to remove the thought, the insecurity to ensure nothing came between her and dawnbreaker, that question became a plague and dawnbreaker must have sense the shift as he immediately drew her in closer.
“of course. in this world, i have nothing left. i want to be selfish. allow me to be selfish and i promise to take care of you as much as i possibly can here in this world. it’s—”
“fleeting.” she finished his sentence with a tender smile. “everything around us and us in general is fleeting, yet if it’s all i can have, i could never wish for anything more. and you can be selfish, dawnbreaker. in a sense, this is your world and i’m becoming a permanent visitor, until you no longer want me to come back.”
dawnbreaker eased back and stared at her with his piercing gaze before he grabbed her chin, gently tilting it up so their eyes met. “there will never be a day where i’m not looking forward to your return. there will never be a day where i wish for you not to return. and there will never be a day that i stop myself from feeling these emotions you give me. for once in this life of mine, i feel something and it’s all because of you.”
she listened intently and nodded her head. insecurities plagued her mind, but dawnbreaker never once allowed those insecurities and self-sabotaging tendencies to remain in her head for too long. perhaps, that is why it was so easy for her to fall for him. how she felt so drawn to his presence, that she would do everything in her power to meet in the same world in her dreams.
“then, when i fall asleep, i will do my best to make sure to meet you once more. over and over again until our worlds allow us to meet face to face outside of our dreams.”
“do you believe such a thing is possible?”
“i do. it’s all thanks to you, dawnbreaker.”
dawnbreaker was quiet as he finally pulled away from her and held out his hand. “come, then, let’s have a walk. there is something i wanted to talk to you about. nothing horrible, i assure you… just something that has been on my mind.”
as the two walked and the snow gentle fell over the city, dawnbreaker stopped in front of a cafe. he gazed through the window and in there was a scene that did not belong to his world. in there was a version of him who was a doctor and she was there sitting in front of him, eating lunch it would seem. he could not help but feel bitter that this version of himself was allowed to be with her when she is awake.
“dawnbreaker?” she spoke out softly when she noticed him seemingly staring into the empty cafe. “what’s wrong?”
he turned and looked at her before shaking his head. “it’s nothing…” he stated, and she did not pry any further.
they walked a few steps more before they stumble onto a field of jasmine flowers. it was then that she let go of dawnbreaker’s hand and ran to the field of flowers, frowning.
“oh no! i knew i was forgetting something, have they not bloomed since?”
“they are just resting, and do not worry about taking care of them, we can only do so much in this environment. ah, but come back here.”
he had gestured for her to return to his side, but instead he walked over to stand beside her, coaxing her to stand up before he held her hand. “are you curious as to what i wish to talk to you about?”
“i am, but i don’t want to pry, so i would wait until you’re ready to talk about it.”
“you’ve called me dawnbreaker since the day we met, but can you stop calling me that?”
“oh—does it bother you?”
“no, i am used to it, but i want you to call me by my real name.”
she tilted her head, curiosity sparkled in her eyes as she met his gaze.
“from now on, you can call me zayne.”
the name tugged something in her chest, her hand then turning to interlace her fingers with his as she gave it a gentle and reassuring squeeze.
“all right, then. thank you… zayne.”
that odd muscle in dawnbreaker’s chest skipped a beat upon hearing her utter his name with such delicacy, it confused him for a bit before he regained his senses, stepped forward and held her in his arms. he cupped her chin once more and leaned down as he lifted her face up for their lips to meet in a sweet kiss.
“no, darling, thank you.”
“but i haven’t done—” she whispered against his lips after their deep kiss.
“you’ve done much more than you may ever know.”
her dream was spent on time with dawnbreaker, this time she managed to make him laugh and she could not help how happy it made her feel when he caught himself and tried to play it off, something about his image and how it could not be ruined.
but as the time approached for her to wake up again, she hugged dawnbreaker extra tight this time, placed a kiss onto his cheek and promised to see him once more when they both fall asleep.
but when she awakened from her slumber, she was left with an empty feeling. she sat up and touched her lips where she dreamed of someone kissing her goodbye. she furrowed her brows trying to recall the dream, but no memory came to mind.
“as always…” she mumbled to herself as she got up to open the blinds of her window. she thought of the man in her dreams, she knew it was a man, but she could not recall a face, not even features. just thoughts and memories of his touches and words, nothing more, no face to place onto the unknown figure.
“do you exist or have i made you up?”

UNIVERSE．high school au, the thorn.
CHARACTERS．inumaki toge (amab!toge, stammerer!toge), okkotsu yūta (amab!yūta).
PAIRING．inuokko (inumaki toge x okkotsu yūta).
PROMPT．toge meets the new student.
CONTENT WARNING．toge has speech issues. blood is mentioned, only for a metaphor though.

AUTHOR'S NOTE．this is my opening to an old thread (late 2021-early 2022) i had with a former roleplayer/friend. i won't be sharing any of his replies since we're not in contact anymore, and i don't have his permission to do so. hopefully, it won't make the context too hard to understand. feel free to let me know if you'd like the other replies i wrote!
HE WAS BORN SMALL AND PINK, LIKE A PANDA．his mother had cradled him against her chest despite the sweat on her brow and the tears in her eyes; she had kissed his forehead and cried even more as thousands of ‘i love you’s were escaping her lips; she had held her precious child to protect him from the world one last time, her unconditional love bleeding from her heart and soul.
〝toge. your name is toge.〞
she had made him the thorn stuck in her heart, always grasping at her skin. what she had seen as a gift had become a curse: it had finally escaped her cracked lips to find its rightful host.
a small and pink new-born as harmless as his name. he had bled his mother with the ruthlessness of a vampire and the innocence of an infant.
〝don't bother your mother, toge. she needs rest.〞
he had never played with his mother. since her thorn had been taken away from her, she had found herself fragile— she had become nothing but a withering rose.
translucent skin and tired eyes, skinny hands and weak smiles. she needed rest, and no one could rest with a small and pale child around.
〝yes, fa-fa— father.〞
no one could rest with a thorn always grasping at their skin.
PANDAS PREFER TO BE ALONE．
〝—oin us, okkotsu-kun. please, take your seat—〞
BORED CAT-LIKE EYES SLOWLY BLINKED AS AWKWARDNESS WAS OOZING FROM THE NEW STUDENT．excited whispers by curious students could be heard; instead of chatting with his neighbour like everyone else, the thorny boy quietly observed the newcomer— he was fresh meat, too juicy for people not to make him the centre of every conversation.
he was prey in a fish tank full of sharks. the awkwardness seeping from him was like blood, triggering anyone close enough to smell it.
toge would be closer than anyone else.
the administration had informed him before the newcomer's arrival— okkotsu yūta, that was his name. toge was now yūta's guide. o joy.
he'd eat him alive.
PANDAS HAVE THICK SKIN．
HIS LEFT HAND'S FINGERS WERE LAZILY FIDDLING WITH HIS CHEEK PIERCINGS AS HE WAS HOLDING MULTIPLE PAPERS IN HIS RIGHT HAND．instead of taking notes, he had spent the entire class writing down what he needed to say to the newcomer— the thorny boy never felt like talking, especially not to strangers unaware of his condition.
BORED CAT-LIKE EYES SLOWLY BLINKED AS AWKWARDNESS WAS OOZING FROM THE NEW STUDENT．the thorny boy had been the last one to leave the classroom; his curse started to itch for new skin to grasp at as he was standing next to okkotsu yūta.
〝…〞
toge stopped fiddling with his piercings and quickly tapped yūta's arm— it was strong enough to be noticeable, he hoped. without waiting for a reaction, the thorny boy lifted his stack of papers, showing the first one.
〝hi. my name is inumaki toge. i am your guide. 😺〞
only his big cat-like eyes and bangs were visible, the rest being hidden by the paper.
toge blinked twice at yūta, fully aware he probably looked like a cute rice ball; it was part of his charm.

what made you pick up this character?
I decided to catch up to Naruto after a few years break and thought Itachi was nice to pick up because of the Edo Tensei arc!
how did you get into this franchise/fandom?
I've always been into Naruto! It just went dormant for a little bit, but like... you never escape lol. I began watching it on Toonami when I was in late middle school tho. U never forget the first time u see the wave arc and Haku dies......
what’s the best thing about the show/series/books/comics/etc.?
The art! Seriously, watching Kishimoto's art develop from the beginning to the end is beautiful.
what’s the worst thing about the show/series/books/comics/etc.?
Uhh. it's hard to say what I legitimately hate! I have criticisms like everyone else but nothing I hate.
what’s the best thing about the fandom?
Fanart and fanfiction! Seriously, I've gotten into so many ships that I wouldn't have given a chance if I hadn't seen fanart or peeked into a fanfic that seemed kinda interesting.
what’s the worst thing about the fandom?
Antis, of course, but on another note the media literacy of the fandom as a whole has sunk into the negatives. Too many people taking things at face value and refusing to let the story unfold infront of them. Characters change!!
what’s the best thing about the canon you are writing?
Itachi is the only character who realized his actions towards Sasuke were is own fault and didn't seek excuses. He knows he hurt Sasuke and that Sasuke didn't owe him any forgiveness or understanding.
what’s the worst thing about the canon you are writing?
How Itachi at 13 years old is treated as if the massacre was preventable, and as if he had the decision making skills of an adult and not a kid who was groomed by both sides since he was seven. "just say no to the massacre lol". But this is more of a fandom problem, really.
have you tweaked the character from canon? if so, what did you tweak?
Kinda! But I like working with the challenge of canon, including the novels. Of course to make certain AUs and character interactions work you have to bend canon to a certain degree.
are there some things you dislike about how the show/series/etc. portray the character you have picked up? if so, what?
Not really! I like Itachi.
what would you say is the most unique trait about your character?
Itachi's self reflection! It took him dying and being revived to realize, but he fucking knows full well his "protection" of Sasuke ended up really hurting him and it's 100% his own fault.
are there any other characters from the franchise you’d like to play?
Not sure! I've already dipped into Sasuke, whom I also love with my whole heart.
are there some characters from the franchise you can’t stand?
From main Naruto series: Sakura :( Mostly because most sakura roleplayers use her as a self insert/projection, I have to say it and it's a really pervasive problem.
From Boruto: Daemon. I hate this goblin and I want him to die.
what are your thoughts on the canon ships for the character, if any?
Itachi's only "canon" ship is the implied feelings he had for Izumi! But Izumi is a nice girl, so I like the ship. It's okay!
what is your personal ship bias for your canon character?
I ship most of the main Itachi ships! ItaKisa, ItaShi, ItaSasu. But I also like exploring "non conventional" ships! RP for me is about exploring things we can't see in canon. ItaIzu, ItaSui (Suigetsu), ItaUra (Urashiki from Boruto), ItaMada, ItaIru, ItaKarin... ItaOro (REALLY love this one), etc.
are there any ships you can’t stand, why?
Itachi/Sakura! It's the one I actively avoid specifically with Itachi.
Other ships I'm "I don't see it" about are Itachi/Kakashi, and Itachi/Deidara. Nothing wrong with them, I just don't really get it!
how long have you been writing the character?
Since about 2013, so 11 years or so! Tumblr boomer.......
should people get into the franchise you're* writing from, yes or no?
yes. And this includes Boruto. This is a threat.
if you could sum up your character with one sentence, what would it be?

Unfortunately I don't have a song! I'm really bad at connecting music and characters.

Rambling about Tumblr and fandoms and topics that probably falls under 'drama'.
I've been regaining more confidence in speaking my mind lately, which is probably in part because I'm not really too involved with a long of things anymore. It does feel like a lot of community that was initially there when I came back to to Tumblr has become disjointed; through people getting older, busier, there's other things going on in life, physical or metal changes.
But I do find myself reflecting. People will say that Tumblr and fandoms have 'always been like this.' But unless I wasn't really in the thick of it, I don't recall about seven to ten years ago, I was so scared or stunted in writing and being present, out of fear of upsetting others, or having my private conversations screencaptured and used out of context.
To me, at least - people and the fandom spaces they inhabit feel like they're becoming very closed off and self-driven. You see more blogs becoming private, exclusive, the idea of 'nobody owes you anything' and block as you see fit. But then, blocking can become a tool for a simple misunderstanding or disagreement, which then gets warped into a he said she said callout culture, where people you thought were close enough to be called friends cut you out with no explanations, no listening to any other sides of the story. The idea of 'roleplayers aren't your friends' becomes prominent, as well as key phrases like 'trauma dumping', or 'love bombing'.
Long lasting connections that endure are rare. We live in the fast and the now, and working through problems or difficulties takes time and patience that not everyone is willing to give. For whatever reasons that are their own. But if something causes conflict, the easiest way is to cut off, wash your hands off it, keep moving on.
It's not something I can do. For better and worse, this emotional side of me gets attached. I'm still reminiscing about roleplays I've had years ago, and only just got in touch with someone I knew 10+ years ago when Gig first started. I keep taking myself on journies of self discovery, self healing, working through traumas and the way my brain works, the way I can respond better. But are still trends and behaviours I don't agree with. And I have that right of opinion just like anyone else, without being campaigned, smeared, or god forbid, death threat anons or threats of posting my location.
We live in times where the above would seem ok, as long as we're protecting ourself and outting 'toxic people'. Much like when I say I might posts anons to publicly shame abusive, hateful behaviour - this is also me being more confident in saying that if I do continue writing on this website - for the better and worse that it can be - I'm going to own my mistakes, always try to do better empathetically and sensitively to others - but I won't be scared into silence.
Even if I'm never part of mass Tumblr followings or circles and keep on the small and at times lonelier path - mental health, the people behind the screen, fostering and preserving connections is something important to me. Moving forward, that will always be my focus.

As a very forgetful person I will always forget to tag something and it's very troubling at times, especially if it's a common trigger and I just absently post it.. which doesn't really happen too too often, but when it does it just makes me so guilty and paranoid to really get into the more intense topics because you never know what people have blacklisted and what people are trying to protect themselves from. I just stick to basic tags for them so my mutuals can be safe - and as I do need certain tags to be tagged, I think it's important for people to practice having basic tags too. especially for blatant imagery
21. What time of the day is your favorite to write?
the early morning time when no one else is awake ( either on tumblr or in the house ) I think having my dash full of posts leaves me with the feeling that I must be active and trying to speak to and interact with everyone I see. It's kinda disheartening in a way, so I like to do things when I'm in a quiet space.

it used to be fma but I've distanced myself from that series for uhhh reasons now lmao so I can't say that one anymore. I find that having a fandomless oc is much more fun than staying in a fandom with the same topics and world to work around, though i do massively enjoy making many different verses for those fandoms I'm not associated with! I suppose... that would make my favorite fandom to write in my Main!
25. One thing you’d like new roleplayers to know?
so long as you are not harming anyone, making anyone uncomfortable, and learning from your mistakes and writings and the people around you - have fun. it's what everyone says but please have fun. if you don't have fun then there's no point making yourself suffer for nothing. there is no NEED to be here if you are not enjoying yourself. everyone says It's a Hobby not a Jobby for a reason!

As far as shipping goes, I’ll generally write Aizawa as single unless we have discussed we want to write a thread with our muses already in a relationship. Most of the time I would rather build chemistry first. But I’m a slut for erasermic and erasermight, so I’m open to just plotting together before jumping into threads if you want to cut to the chase.
When writing with underage muses I am open to him either being chronically single or secretly married. Whatever we think will be funnier at the time

Fantasy AU
Aizawa runs the Ultimate Adventuring Guild in the world of Fulminare. The owner is technically Nedzu, but Aizawa deals with a lot of the front facing aspects of the guild and adventurer and adventure management. UA is largely considered the best adventuring guild with the best benefits on the continent, it's even recognized as such by his majesty Enji Todoroki. Aizawa is more than capable in combat and dungeoneering though he specializes in information gathering. If you want to know where to find a legendary item or a way to kill a monster, you go to him. He doesn't adventure as often as he used to, maintaining the guild and caring for his guildmates takes a lot of time, but if Hizashi is hitting the open road, so is he. ((If you want to play in a less my-headcannon-driven world that is totally fine. ))
Nomu AU
This AU is based around the idea that instead of Oboro dying in school, Aizawa died. Instead of Oboro being turned into a nomu, it was Aizawa. Through the torture and experiments, his mind was broken. Like Kurogiri he has no memories of before his death. Nomu Aizawa is a good soldier for AFO, he follows orders to the letter. He is an efficient spy and assassin, and a doting nurturing figure of protection for Shigaraki. However, he is a monster of few words, selectively mute, he very rarely speaks and if he does it's in as few words as possible. My idea for his twisted version of his quirk comes from this post. Though he does continue to use his capture device as well, he uses his knife much more than he does in canon. Since they couldn't call him Aizawa like they couldn't have called Kurogiri Oboro, nomu!aizawa's name is Tomarume.
Alternatively, when writing with people that play his students, I have him captured by Chisaki. That's where he is tortured and turned into a Nomu.
Vampire AU
In this AU Aizawa was bitten and turned a year before the Vigilantes arc. He never becomes a teacher at UA and is even more of a shut in than he was prior. Obviously, being a member of the undead he does not go out during the day. He lives in a run down apartment under a false name with the windows painted black and tin-foiled. He tends to feed on whoever is easiest when he needs to, even preying on the others that live in his building if he absolutely needs to. He's not much of a hero anymore, but he won't turn a blind eye to particularly heinous crimes he notices while hunting. He still looks the same, just extra pale, golden eyes that reflect light in the dark, and prominent fangs.
I use primarily World of Darkness Vampie rules, with some creative changes.
Harry Potter AU
Shota Aizawa is a pure blood wizard who attended Hogwarts roughly during the same time of Bill Weasley. Shota was an auror during the time period of the Harry Potter novels. By the end of the series, after the final fall of Voldemort and the smoke has cleared and the Death Eaters rounded up; he retires and takes a job teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts.

Strengths: is an expert at martial arts, can transform into the multicolored hero known as Sōkan Man. As Sōkan man, he has enchanced strength, speed, and jumping power. he can tap into the abilities of the past heroes that came before him; that is if he has enough energy in his handy power meter to do so. These abilities range from handy powers like magic or explosions, weapons, flight, and even the power to grow into a giant!
Weaknesses: Can't use any abilities if his power meter runs out. Can only stay transform for 30 minutes, afterwards he reverts back to normal. If he chooses to grow gigantically, he will use up his transformation time in 10 minutes. In addition, his energy supply in his power meter will be significantly shortened due to the amount of energy to grow that big in the first place. If overwhelmed with negative emotions, or greatly injured,his curse Duality will be able to take over his body.
Backstory: James was once a member of the prestigious family known as the Joneses; known throughout the world for their involvement in much of western history. Although it was stressful enough for him to try and uphold his family's honor, his troubles would start to worsen once he got into college. One day, he was kidnapped by a group of thugs, and taken to an undisclosed location. There, he learned that he was in a base controlled by Dark Shocker: a mysterious, and shadowy organization hellbent on total conquest. He was then subjected to numerous agonizing experiments, which led up to him having a curse imbedded inside him. Once the curse began to rampage out of control, he was promptly shot to death. Since he was now housing a curse, he was barred entry from heaven and sent to the Pride circle of hell. Now a neko demon, James eventually swore to take down Dark Shocker. Not just so that no one else had to go through the torturous ordeal that he had to, but also to protect his newfound friends and lovers. If that wasn't bad enough though, he also is tasked with dealing with his awakened curse Duality: A shadowy manifestation of his negative traits, who strives to become the next demon king through any means necessary. It might seem like mountainous ordeals, but luckily James discovered an innate ability to aid in his cause: the power to transform into the multicolored hero known as Sōkan Man!
Personality: James is usually kind, and a bit of a goofball at times. Though he does have his down moments, especially after having a flashback or suffering from a night terror.

ahkmen asked: hey! i don't have an active rp blog at the moment so i'm sending from my personal (SUPER sorry abt that!!), but i just stumbled across your blog and saw that you used to rp on youtube! i did too! it always feels so magical to see other people who roleplayed there in ye olden days and i just wanted to give a wave of sorts, glad there's still some of us out here!
OH HELLO MY LOVE. it's no problem at all. i hope it's okay for me to post this rather than make it private as maybe some folks can read and also feel that sense of community. i think it's fun to connect with people who started on youtube with roleplay. idk if you started on yt or not, but either way, i definitely did and it was v liberating.
i met someone on there that was friends with me for yeaaaars from yt as well and we had many good memories from it. we found each other over on tumblr and it was so crazy. me and this person aren't close anymore, but i can forever look back on the memories had and feel thankful in a way for that connection.
youtube was super popular back when you could customize your theme on your channel and stuff and i remember people actually made themes for that the same way they do here. my friends and i all had really cool decked out pages and it was SO awesome. i went onto a site afterwards called a.nispace which .. was the worst experience ever im ngl. just because i had this terrible stalker who never ever left me alone and even threatened me, but i still loved roleplay and i still made some great pals. i guess that's the plus on that haha. i joined tumblr in 2015 and man was i sooo lost on this site. it's crazy looking back at how far i've come but it's like .. if you enjoy roleplay, you don't truly ever leave it behind?? i mean, i guess some people do, but eventually everyone wants to check in and see what's up in the world of writing yk.
i'm really glad that i can bond with you over this, friend. it does make me happy. i absolutely shouldn't have been on yt though as a roleplayer because i was like .. maybe .. thirteen years old when i started. that's why i am so adamant now that interaction with minors is a big no no because i see my younger self looking back at me and i wish that more people felt protective enough to tell me of the dangers on sites and not interact with me because .. i didn't know about the dangers. there were some really shady people out there. and they didn't care about your age when i first started. really freaky.

Yknow what I don't get? Roleplayers calling themselves ~private blogs~ then getting mad when non-roleplayers interact with their posts like 'ur not supposed to interact with rpers if you aren't an rper! at all!!! god this is common sense, get lost!!!'.
Smh. because for one, half of tumblr's userbase has no idea what rping is! They just see a blog and its content.. And how can you call yourself a 'private blog' with a straight face if it's literally public and not password protected, and there's no sign anywhere that you don't want non-rpers touching literally any of your posts. People aren't fuckin mind readers.
These roleplayers really wonder 'why do ppl keep finding my blog?!', when they're rbing from popular gifmakers and other places. Really fam? Notes exist, people find blogs through them all the time. Maybe if it keeps happening and you keep getting madder and madder, consider the possibility it's not other people, it's actually how you're trying to do things and/or setting yourself up w/ expectations that go against how most people use this site..

PSA Re: Apple iOS/Tumblr Tag Ban
{out of paprikash} I know we are all confused and irritated by the recent tag ban imposed by Apple and implemented by Tumblr. I wanted to explain a little for those who have not yet heard about it and let my followers know where I stand as far as creating my own posts.
My understanding of this ban is that if you use anything from this ever-growing LIST OF BLOCKED WORDS AND PHRASES in your tags (many of which are very common words, seemingly innocuous ones, or ones used to protect people from content they wish to filter out with t.rigger w.arnings), your post will be flagged as banned content and will become shadowblocked for those running the Tumblr app on Apple devices supporting iOS. Meaning… if you use banned tags, your post will not be viewable to iOS users and some of your followers many not even know you posted something at all.
I personally do not use Apple devices and am therefore not affected by this ban as far as what I am able to view. However, since my followers and writing partners may use those devices, it does affect me in that regard.
I was going to try to come up with an alternative list of tags for common t.rigger w.arnings I use to try to develop a workaround system for all my blogs, but upon viewing the list of banned tags, I realize that this just isn’t possible. There are far too many innocuous, everyday, seemingly mundane words on the list, and the list is much too long to remember to avoid using all of them. It is also my understanding that these banned words and phrases are blocked whether they are used on their own in a standalone tag or contained in longer sentences with other words, so even just “blabbing” in the tags about our stories and characters as we love to do as roleplayers may get our posts flagged and shadowblocked if we inadvertently use something on the list.
In light of all this, right now I am not going to change how I tag my posts, nor am I going to stop discussing things in my tags. I realize that this may result in some of my followers or writing partners no longer being able to see some of my content. However, I feel that continuing to tag potentially t.riggering content is more important than worry about whether my posts will become shadowblocked.
If we write together and you are subject to this ban because of the device you use to access Tumblr, feel free to let me know. I can try to remember to DM you when I post a reply to one of our threads so you can tell me if you are able to view it. If you cannot see it, I may be able to change my tags to make it visible again. I really don’t want to have to get into that every time I post a reply, but… this is where we’re currently at with this hellsite.
I am going to continue on as I have been and hold out hope that Tumblr staff will realize how damaging, dangerous, disruptive, and downright bricking this is for their platform and devise an alternative for satisfying Apple’s unreasonable and ill-conceived tag ban, but I realize that this is unlikely to happen. I choose to remain optimistic, but we’ll see what happens, I guess.
