CALL FOR WWI TOMMY PHOTO EXTRAS!
Tumblr media
Hey everyone! I’ve got a gay little WWI in-person photo opportunity for UK based lads who would like to help me and my friend out!
So my good friend is a photography student at my college and part of his big narrative shoot for his final project is about two WWI British signallers who fall in love, part of which is to be photographed in trenches.
The difficulty is we need extra Tommies to fill the space. We’re looking for about 7-8 guys, UK based, who own their own Tommy kit for the trenches: steel helmets, tunic + trousers, puttees, boots, and ideally webbing or bandolier. Rifles and caps aren’t required and I’ll lend out signaller bands. Officers are also welcome not exceeding captain. It’ll be shot in replica trenches at the Staffordshire Regiment Museum; we’re waiting for date confirmation but it’s going to be a single day shoot either within the week commencing the 13th of May OR the week commencing 20th of May. More details to come on times to show up, etc for those interested.
This is a professional historically accurate shoot so along with having accurate-as-possible kit, no piercings, unnatural hair dyes, visible tattoos, or modern specs can be in the shoot; no facial hair is permitted aside from a moustache not clearly exceeding beyond or below the corners of the mouth as per period regs.
Unfortunately we’re just students so it’s not a paid outing but he’s offered to do free photos afterwards for anyone wanting proper pics in the trench! My photos above and the ones at the very bottom were all done by him so you get an idea of the quality; his insta is linked at the end so you can see more of his work!
ALSO!! I know this is so specific but y’all if it’s possible we need a lad who looks closely like this soldier as he is the lover of the main boy (who I’m portraying) but we don’t know anyone who resembles him! They’d need to be around about 5’8”-9”, slim/athletic build, and face near to his ☟ ☟ ☟
Tumblr media
Since the narrative revolves around a gay romance, bear in mind this person would have to be comfortable posing for some Light Gayᵀᴹ stuff (sitting close in the trench, about to kiss, that sort of thing) as well. So if you’re alright being Close Gayly in the trench for the vibe and you’ve got access to kit definitely drop me a message if you’re up for it cos this role is hardest to find :’)
Other than that, if this sounds like something you’re interested in, drop my friend an email listed below! Feel free to pass this along to anyone you know who might be interested as well, it’d be a big help!
If you want to get involved or have questions, my friend’s email is [email protected] and @keltikfilm is his insta portfolio. And you can obv find me here or my insta as well @slightly_teddy for any questions!
Cheers, see ya there! x

sorry I know this was not your point in the intersex post but I was wondering how you deal with your facial hair? I'm a cis woman and have lots of chin and facial hair (not to mention absurd body hair, as well as progressive hair loss on my head) and it's been pretty devastating for my self esteem. I have never been a beauty and now that chronic illness and age is catching up to me I have a hard time not feeling subhuman (the debilitating anxiety does not help).
My doctor insists I don't have PCOS and that my hormones are normal after multiple tests and 2nd opinions I've gotten have said the same. I tried laser and it seemed to make it worse, and I liked electrolysis and did many sessions over six months but it's not affordable to me at the moment and it seems it's all grown back? But it's been a few years so maybe it's just new growth. I am hoping to restart the electrolysis if I ever get close to having a comfortable financial situation again lol.
I find shaving it feels awful, the stubble is painful and I have a five o clock shadow like 2 hours later, but spending 30 minutes plucking every day is also not fun. Waxing just always rips off my skin and misses enough hairs to be annoying, even when I've gotten it professionally done.
It's absolutely driving me mad but it feels like I have no options to do anything about it.
I am so sorry, Anon: the chin and neck hair hits me in a bad sensory place as much as or more so than the visual side of it, so I compulsively pluck it as it appears. (I pretty much ignore everywhere else.)
My experience with laser hair was that it at least lightened and softened the hairs that were produced where I had it as a teenager, which makes plucking feel less necessary. Occasionally I contemplate one of those at home laser hair kits, but I've never actually gotten around to grabbing one.
That said, the level of androgenization you're describing is absolutely high enough to be worth seeking care for. Check whether your insurance has provisions for gender affirming care. You may also be a good candidate for spironolactone (for the thinning hair) or HRT, particularly if you're post menopausal. You're probably still going to be grappling with hair until you can do another electrolysis or laser session, but those should help you with keeping facial hair from coming back.
Have you seen a dedicated endocrinologist? It's also worth seeking an expert opinion, because the specific suite of symptoms you're describing certainly do sound like something unusual is going on whether or not it's PCOS.

tma makeup headcanons:
Jonathan "serving cunt" Sims:
S1 Jon doesn't know what makeup is (he absolutely wore eyeliner every single day at uni but he's not letting everyone else know that)
He like spot conceals but that's about all he feels comfortable getting away with while maintaining his air of professionalism
He also despises the feeling of foundation on his face
S2 Jon is barefaced as the day he was born. My man's last priority is how he looks, he's too busy buying axes in central London and stalking his coworkers
S3 Jon has none of his makeup with him but he's got loads of spare time and Georgie has a whole drawer so he experiments a little bit, he goes for Kajal (black pencil eyeliner lining the inside of your eyes) instead of his previous winged eyeliner but he hesitates at the any colour because she managed to pull it off but he's never been one for drawing attention to himself like that but one day he goes for a burgundy or like dark purplish red colour and he's quite pleased with himself
I feel like Jon would go for a natural kind of look, with concealer and a skin tint at best, some dark brown eye shadow to deepen his hooded eyes and kajal
Martin Kslaying Blackwood:
Ugh I love this man so much
I'm literally such a fan of trans Martin it's pretty much canon to me so I'm headcanoning that he's very hesitant about makeup cause he was a late transitioner and had only just gotten used to passing recently so he doesn't want to do anything to risk that
But he's such a slut for a nice little blush or like a subtle lip tint
He goes for powder blushes cause liquid ones feel sticky on his face and also powder blushes just Look Nice
He also likes lip tints cause he's constantly rubbing off lip products, with the multiple mugs of tea a day and it's getting awkward handing Jon mugs of tea with faint lipstick stains on them
He keeps an emergency kit in his bag with like some eyeshadow if he needs to darken his facial hair and on a whim he puts a baby pink powder blush in there and a matching lip tint
So it's not like he decided to bring it to the safehouse, it was just sort of there
Jon finds it and he's like let's go, we're going down to the shops and buying some, we're gonna do some experimenting and Martin's like oh!!
When he was working for Peter Lukas, he was also barefaced, he didn't want to give him the satisfaction of thinking he put effort in
Timothy "Take notes" Stoker:
This man is such a fun makeup guy
He's a random dots around his eyes, shimmery colourful inner corner, new colour every day, just drawing shit around his eyes kinda man
He's a no foundation no concealer kinda guy as well I think
ugh just can you imagine??? They have a little tally of what colours/patterns Tim's using today and somehow he never managed to repeat a look - it might be a repeated colour but the pattern or the way it's used it's always different
And then one day he just stops. He still wears makeup but the colours are more muted and they make his eyes look bruised in a very decisive way
It's almost as if he's spent ages on a look and then tried to scrub it all away
Sashay Away James
She's such a glamorous girly I feel like she really enjoys the process of makeup more than actually changing the way she looks
I'd love her to be doing the whole shebang, spending hours picking the right primer and stuff like that
She goes for the yeah I'm wearing makeup and I'm slaying look
I feel like she's so good at a little nose highlight
Can you imagine every day Tim greeting Sasha every morning with like a love the highlight girl and it makes her happy every single time
Oh she's such a fake freckles girly absolutely
Hated false eyelashes cause they feel weird
Not Sasha believes makeup is pushing feminism backwards

Painted Up
Tumblr media
Painted Up
Pairing: Josh Kiszka and Female Reader
Summary: Josh decides to experiment with stage makeup, which leads to more than a couple surprising things.
Warnings: Alcohol, mention of gender norms
Word Count: 2.8k
With any job, there were pros and cons.
The pros: It was a stress free environment, the traveling was amazing, and the guys were always polite and nothing but sweet to you.
The cons: It was a little boring at times compared to your previous jobs of runway shows and horror movie special effects. But you couldn’t complain. What did you expect when you took a job as a makeup artist for a band of men?
There were four of them. Jake, Sam, Danny, and Josh.
Jake and Sam were simple. Once a week you’d be greeted by a cute face with long hair popping his head into the makeup and hair room before a show asking in the sweetest voice, “Do you have a second?” or “Can you cover something up for me?” To which you always said “Of course!” without hesitation. You’d sit them down, do what they needed, and in 5 minutes, they’d be out.
Danny was a bit more daring. He had darker features than the other guys and he was willing to try eyeliner and experiment with colors. It was never anything crazy but with him not being up front, a little extra pop of something was exactly what he needed. And still, it was easy because nothing had to be precise. Whenever you tried something new on him, their photographer would be there to snap a photo of his look.
But Josh? Josh was your favorite. As the front man, he got a little more extra attention from you in the makeup department. You covered up his sunburnt cheeks, separated his lashes with clear mascara, and filled his beard in occasionally. He was also a bit more talkative than the other guys so whenever he was in the chair, it was a nice time.
He had a great personality and you loved conversations with him. It was no wonder people were captivated by him on stage. You were captivated by him when he was just his regular, everyday self.
Part of you wished he could get more attention from you in other ways. You had to admit, he was cute. Very cute. His looks combined with his personality gave you butterflies that were hard to ignore. And you could never quite tell if he was flirting with you or just being polite.
But regardless, this was work and he was your client. You had to be strictly professional with him.
One day, the band was shooting a few videos so you were really making sure you got each of them good. They each took a bit more time than usual since they had to be HD camera ready. You were giving Josh his usual fix, with just a bit more here and there when you saw his eyes wandering into your kit.
“What are those?” he asked, nudging his head to the little box of rhinestones you had next to your eye shadow collection.
“Rhinestones,” you replied casually, shrugging your shoulders, “You know, for like, extravagant looks,” you said as you continued dotting his cheeks with concealer. You pulled back from him and leaned down into your kit to get a sponge.
“Hm,” he paused, “Do you think I’d be fit for an extravagant look?” he asked, giving you a shy smile.
“Do you want an extravagant look?” you asked, looking at him with an I know you want it kind of smile.
“That depends. Do you think I could pull it off?” he asked.
His expression turned a little more serious with his question. You could tell he wasn’t simply nervous about being able to pull off the look. He was thinking a little deeper. This wasn't just concealer and clear mascara; and this was a bit different than just eyeliner on a drummer. This could push boundaries a bit. And even play around with gender norms. You could tell he wasn’t one hundred percent sure about this.
However, with all that being said, he could absolutely pull off an extravagant look and if it ruffles some feathers, who cares? It’s not like he’d be the only man to ever wear makeup. This is the 21st century after all. Besides, with his strong facial features, combined with his stage outfits and stage presence, he could pull off anything to be honest.
“Are you kidding? You definitely could. I mean, look at you. Look at your stage outfits. Look at your face? A little sparkle and a little color would be perfect,” you said.
He tucked his lips into his mouth, trying not to smile too wide. You could tell he liked the idea but was still a bit apprehensive.
“Here, you look through and see if there’s anything you like. And, if you do, we can try something out. It doesn’t have to be anything crazy if you don’t want it to be. It can be subtle.”
He pursed his lips to the side and nodded. Your reassurance to make things subtle if he wanted seemed to make him feel more confident. He turned himself in the chair and rested his elbow on the counter, peeking through the kit.
As he looked, he picked some products up to see the different colors of everything you had. His eyebrows furrowed as he went through the kit and put back ones he didn’t particularly care for. He was careful with everything he touched and he made sure he put everything back where it came from.
Finally, he settled on a tube of gold liquid eye shadow and the container of rhinestones.
“Ooh, gold?” you asked, a bit flirtatiously, as he placed them onto the counter.
“Yeah, right?” he asked, “Red and gold go well together, right?” he asked, looking down at his jumpsuit, which was a shade of deep red, and then looking up at you for your opinion.
You bit your lip, smiled at him, and nodded.
You felt your heart stop and your smile faded as your eyes locked with his.
In that moment, he was different than you’d ever seen him before. He wasn’t that confident and funny guy you always saw him as. He was shy and unsure of himself.
He blinked and looked away quickly, putting an abrupt end to the eye contact.
“Um, yeah, so, like, do you just wanna…” he trailed off, as he sat back in the chair.
“Yeah,” you said, “Do you have any idea of what you want me to do?”
“Not really,” he said with a sigh, “But I trust you.”
You stood  in front of him like you normally would and you got to work.
His eyes watched your hands as you twisted the cap off the eyeshadow tube and scraped off the excess product on the container.
“Close your eyes,” you whispered as you brought the applicator to his face.
He did as you said and you began delicately painting his eyelid with the gold shimmer.
When you got to the outer corner, you began a downturned wing of gold, which quickly became something more.
You got lost in the art. Josh was the perfect canvas, it was easy to get carried away with him.
Before you knew it, you were looking at five points of gold, resembling the sun, running down his cheeks.
He looked unbelievable.
“You can open now,” you said to Josh.
He opened his eyes as you turned back to your kit to get tweezers, glue, and the rhinestones he chose.
You picked up a rhinestone in the tweezers and applied glue to the back. Slowly, you leaned forward towards Josh and brought it to his face.
This was the closest you’ve ever been to him. Your faces were just inches apart. You could feel him exhaling through his nose slowly on your wrist. You could smell cologne on his neck. You were trying to concentrate on the task before you, making sure the rhinestone went in just the right spot. But Josh was making your job hard. Not to mention, you could see his eyes looking at yours the entire time.
Rhinestone by rhinestone, he wasn’t breaking his stare.
After you placed the last rhinestone to his face, you pulled back just a bit to get a full look at the sun burst on his face and swiped your fingertips across it with feather light motions.
“Perfect,” you whispered.
“Yeah, perfect,” he repeated. He wasn’t talking about the makeup.
When you finally looked into his eyes, he was looking deep into yours.
There was silence for a few moments until Josh spoke.
“Would it be super unprofessional if I-”
“No,” you cut him off as you shook your head.
Slowly, his hand came up off where it was resting on his lap and he held your jaw lightly.
He pulled your face closer to his and you both closed your eyes and connected your lips.
The kiss was soft and sweet. His lips were warm and fit perfectly on yours.
The two of you broke the kiss and pulled back in the slightest bit.
You stared at each other for a few seconds until you each broke into smiles.
“Maybe, red and gold aren't the only things that go well together,” he whispered.
“Maybe,” you giggled.
Tumblr media
Years passed and you went from being Greta Van Fleet’s make-up artist to gaining a new title.
Josh’s girlfriend.
You kept your job with them despite your relationship status and when you were working, the two of you kept things very professional. Except when you were alone of course. If Josh’s dressing room door was locked- it was obvious that you weren’t just doing his makeup.
What started off as a relatively boring job touring as a makeup artist for a band of men completely changed your life. The job you once thought was easy and boring, had turned into the most exciting time in your life and it had brought you the love of your life (and three amazing friends).
Throughout the next couple of years on tour, Jake and Sam would come to you for their usual quick touch ups as always. But Josh and Danny kept the more extravagant looks going.
Danny caught on to the rhinestones and before you knew it, you were lining his eyes with black eyeliner and gluing colored rhinestones around them. He also started asking for more which led to completely smoking out his eyes with black eyeshadow. He loved the intense dark look of it and you liked that it really brought something out in him, personality wise too.
Josh stuck to the rhinestones for a while. He liked having them in different designs and he even suggested to place them down his chest at one point.
You taught them both how to properly take the makeup and rhinestones off in a safe way, instead of just rubbing their eyes or scratching them off. Josh listened, Danny didn’t as much. He liked the little extra black the remnants of his makeup left for his everyday self.
Regardless, Josh loved the rhinestones so much that he started taking videos of the process of getting his makeup done. He would film himself on his phone and call it his “Rhinestone Diary.” He said he wanted to capture the memories of getting his makeup done on tour and that it was his favorite part of his pre-show routine.
Eventually, the social media team took that one over and it became a thing for Josh to do before shows. He turned it into a whole comedy sketch and the fans loved to see what you saw in him- his personality and his captivating show looks.
Before you knew it, the tour the guys had been on for almost a year was coming to an end. You were in Josh’s dressing room with him and Danny doing both of their makeup.
Jake and Sam got their usual touch ups and went their separate ways to continue preparing for the show. The door was wide open and people were coming in and out with questions and orders for them.
Danny’s makeup was done and you were carefully applying gold eyeshadow to Josh’s eyelids when Sam walked in, ready to go on stage.
“Whatcha doin’?” Sam asked as he sat down with a can of hard seltzer in hand. He picked at some of the products you had set out for Josh and inspected them carefully.
“Eyeshadow,” you said softly as you concentrated on the art you were creating on Josh’s face. You brought the brush across his eyelid and swiped the gold across his temple. You continued, adding horizontal stripes of gold down his cheeks.
“Wanna do me next?” he asked.
“I already did you, Sam,” you said, still concentrating on Josh’s face.
“No like, really do me. Like how you do Daniel and Josh,” he said.
Danny lifted his head up from his phone. Josh’s eyes snapped open, and you turned your head to Sam; all three of you were in a state of shock.
“What?” he giggled as he looked at you all looking at him.
“You want me to do your makeup? Like makeup, makeup?”
“Yeah, give me something. Nothing dark. But,” he paused, “surprise me.”
“Let me finish your brother and then I’m all yours, Samuel,” you said, smiling.
Sam smiled, sat down on top of the counter, and swung his feet back and forth. He waited patiently for Josh to be done and then swapped places in the chair with him when it was his turn.
“Make me beautiful,” he said, smiling as he sat up tall in the chair.
“Eh, you need a lot of work. I’ll see what I can do,” you teased.
You all laughed as you inspected Sam’s face for options of what to do.
He had perfect skin and down turned eyes, which gave him a lot of lid space that extended from the inner corners, all the way out to the sides of his face with a perfect downturned swoop.
You decided on a little black mascara, which he flinched when you applied it, gold winged eyeliner which covered his eyelids, and a few rhinestones across his lash lines.
You completed his look and turned him around so he could get a good look of himself.
His eyes widened and his face lit up at the sight of himself.
“Woah, this is sick, Y/N. Thank you!” he said happily as he turned his head back and forth to get a good look.
The three of them stood in the mirror and gushed over their looks for the night as you started packing your kit away.
“What are you doing? We have like 10 minutes,” a deeper voice called from the doorway.
You all turned your attention to Jake who was in his suit, ready to go.
All three boys turned around and Jake’s mouth opened slightly when he saw Sam, who usually never had anything on his face for shows.
“Jake, do you want a makeup look too?” you said, stretching out your words.
“No,” he laughed, quite certain with himself.
“Come on! Do it with us,” Sam begged.
“You’re the only one without it,” Danny added.
“You’re gonna look stupid,” Josh said.
Jake looked at all of them with a conflicted face. You could tell he didn’t want to be left out but he wasn’t exactly thrilled with the idea.
It was the same face you saw on Josh years ago when the idea of makeup was first brought up.
After a few seconds of silence, you spoke.
“Jake, it doesn’t have to be like theirs. I could do something subtle,” you explained.
The room was silent except for the quiet whispers of “Come on,” and “Please?” coming from the guys behind you.
Finally, Jake broke.
“Okay fine. But just a little.”
The guys cheered and Jake fought back a smile.
You sat Jake down and grabbed a singular black eyeliner pencil. You traced his upper and lower lash lines lightly and then, while it was still fresh, grabbed a brush and blurred it out. You pulled it out just a bit at the outer corner of his eye to create a subtle winged look.
It took two minutes.
“What do you think? If you hate it, we can take it off,” you asked, holding a handheld mirror in front of him.
“No,” he paused, “I actually kind of like it,” he said as the other guys got peeks.
“Five minutes till stage,” you heard a voice call into the room, snapping everyone's attention toward the door. There were two security guards waiting to escort the guys there for the show.
You put the eyeliner away and the guys thanked you and you wished them luck as they left the room and headed to the stage.
Josh waited for you. When you were done putting the eyeliner away, he pulled you in by the waist and kissed you sweetly.
“You think Jake really likes it?” you asked, running your hands down his satin sleeves and locking your fingers with his.
Josh nodded and kissed you again, “Yes,” he said, “I know it.”
You smiled at him and breathed a small sigh of relief.
“You do a good job. Maybe we should keep you around,” Josh teased as the two of you began to walk out of his dressing room and toward the stage, hand in hand.
“Maybe,” you giggled.

Pierce It Yourself: Nostrils
Tumblr media
So, you wanna get a facial piercing? Maybe it's your first piercing ever or maybe it's your second, third, fourth, fifth, maybe it's even your twentieth piercing.
No matter how many piercings you have, you can do your own nostril piercing. Maybe you have strict parents that wouldn't take you to a piercing place, or maybe you can't afford to get it professionally done. Either way, I'm here to walk you through piercing your own nostril.
Preparing
First, you want all the proper materials. For a nostril piercing you will need:
18g/20g piercing needle
Piercing jewelry (studs are reccommended for first time piercings)
Marker
Alcohol pad
Piercing clamp
Gloves
On what to pierce with, DO NOT USE A PIERCING GUN. Piercing guns do not pierce well. They are also harder to sterilize. More likely they will cause trauma to the skin and get infected.
You can get a good nostril piercing kit for $10 that has actual needles. You will want either a 18g or 20g needle depending on the jewelry you wanna put in.
Before you pierce your nose, it's a good idea to look up reference photos and play around with possible placements.
Another tip I'd give to anyone piercing themselves is to watch videos of professionally done piercings. They are good reference points as the people doing them often have years of experience.
Piercing
Now that you have all your materials, you can finally make your piercings a reality. Start putting on a pair of gloves. Then take your alcohol pad and rub it on and around the piercing area. This will get any dirt and bacteria off the area.
Use your marker to mark where you want your piercing to be. When you have your placement decided, take your piercing clamps and put the holes of the clamp ends around the mark.
Then turn your nostril horizontally to prevent the piercing needle from hitting other parts of your nose. If you want a more painless piercing, use numbing spray or numbing gel and put it over your piercing area. Then grab your piercing needle and pierce that shit!
After you pierced your nose, allow yourself time to look at the piercing spot. If it's bleeding, wipe off the blood with an alcohol wipe. Now put in your piercing jewelry at the end of your piercing needle. Remove the piercing needle through your nostril and thread the nostril jewelry into your piercing.
Aftercare
Nostril piercings take around 3 to 4 months t9 fully heal, so in that time, you should be extra careful with your new nose piercing.
Do not play with or change your piercing jewelry. That will cause irritation that can lead to piercing bumps. If you get a piercing bump, use jojoba oil or emu oil occassionally. Do not use chemicals like peroxide or rubbinf alcohol, those will only irritate the piercing more.
To care for your piercing, use a good unscented anti-bacterial soap and warm water on a q-tip and use it to clean your piercings. If it gets infected, please seek medical attention immediately.
After three to four months, your piercing will be completely healed. Congratulations! You now have a fully healed nostril piercing.

Well, that simply won’t do. Not only has the good doctor spent way too much time on research lately, he hasn’t even noticed Haze sneaking into the room, casually glancing over his shoulders at the stacks of books piling on the table. From the looks of it, he really needs a change of pace, and she’s brought just the thing to provide it.
“Nyasclepius~” Leaning all the way over his shoulders from behind, Haze sets a box, decorated with chaotically placed stamped on paw prints, on one of the book stacks. “Did mew furrget what day it is today? Time to take a break and have a treat~”
She removes the box’s lid and reveals—well. Inside, there’s an odd assortment of small chocolates, some in the shape of cats, others in the shape of snakes. While ordinary chocolate provides the base of the treats, colourful mixtures using white chocolate serve as decorative elements. There are some green, mint-flavoured stripes here, some pink, strawberry-flavoured dots there, some added facial features and other questionable design choices haphazardly added wherever the “artists” pleased. Although the used moulds ensure solid shapes as a base, these chocolates look as far from professional as they come. They quite resemble the style of a child’s drawing instead.
“The kittens helped to make these. Hopefully, you’ll like them~” Though a cursory glance over the treats reveals multiple thefts that have already taken place. “Hm? I’m pawsitively sure there used to be a lot more catnip-flavoured chocolates in here… Well, the kits deserved some rewards for their hard work, too. Anymeow, enjoy~”
Upon hearing his name—though said quite liberally—Asclepius lifts his head away from the book in a slow motion, as if needing to physically pull himself to the surface from a sea of scientific text. Naturally, his expression creases at being told to take a break he does not need, especially when it is done so affectionately. But the presence of a pout lasts mere seconds as Haze places the box in his line of sight, its contents soon revealed.
"... What?" He breathes out, trying to mask the surprise in his voice. And, perhaps, it could be convincing enough at that. However, his body language tells no lies while his shoulders tense beneath Haze's embrace.
Tumblr media
In their many shapes and adolescent colors, the chocolates strike an immediate chord that leaves Asclepius stunned. They were made for him by the hands of a set of feline misfits that somehow had come into the orbit of his life and made a space there. Patients—he has to remind himself. Yet, it's a profoundly strange feeling finding proof ( physical or otherwise ) of how easily they have made themselves into a part of his existence, and he a part of theirs.
Like with this box of sweets.
A sleeve absently drifts towards his mouth, and Asclepius startles to find himself gaping. Crap. It's quickly schooled into an air of disinterest as he reaches for the box, almost hesitantly drawing it closer to himself. Here, the doctor chooses a snake-shaped piece from the available selection to eat, its dark decorations depicting something akin to a many-toothed hissing serpent.
"Tch ... " It's sweet and delicious; because of it, he cannot help but fall back into a doctor's habit. Asclepius does his best to turn to Haze from his position, offering a sharply disappointed look. "These are not medicine chocolates to eat so many. Though, I suppose it can be an exception today."
Some part of himself curses for chasing down rabbit holes of medical hypotheses and not noticing the date or time. Asclepius will have to make amends to gift Haze more medicine sweets for the holiday—the children, too. Patients. Or, maybe—
He picks a cat-shaped choco this time and holds it up for her. "That goes for you, as well. What, of course, I am sharing these with you."

05. meet the cast (pt. 1)
The Company: a traveling mortuary company that provides services for both hire and charity. Some of their services include, but are not limited to: corpse preparation, funeral ceremonies, headstone design, coffin crafting, memento mori commissions. Their mode of travel is this really peculiar hearse caravan.
The idea of The Company came about in part because I had read somewhere that some cowboys were buried with custom designed cowboy boots to be placed by their graves – then I wondered, what about all the folks that were left alone in the wild and are left alone to just perish? Or what about in settlements that don’t really have an undertaker or formal funeral company to help one of their own? Everyone ought to be sent off, remembered. My initial thought was that it would be cool to have a specific company/group that travels the West that specializes in cowboy burials – memento mori pieces, custom headstones things, burials etc. Then, during that time where I was trying to pivot to a more gothic-fantasy-western sort of direction, I thought the idea of this company would be so freaking cool. They would be the in-betweeners of the “monsters” vs. “hunters” in this universe, and be associated with all things Death. Soul senders? Collectors? Ditto if I have totally written that off yet hmm.
Anyways! I’m still flushing out the members of The Company, but so far, I’ve sketched out enough to formulate a group of four individuals. These folks share a deep and respected relationship with death/death culture. Their “titles” only highlight their role of expertise within The Company’s services, but they are more than capable of intersecting and assisting each other when needed. Folks!!! I introduce you to:
Rupert Fritz Worth, The Surgeon with an eclectic taste in fashion and curio collections. Has been suspected of time travel on three separate occasions—both in America and in the Austrian Empire. Like many other professionals in the field, he began as a barber, specifically impressive facial hair styling, until necessity and opportunity brought him into medicine.
Ed McCullen, The Carpenter shyer around the living than the dead. Though he can handle the sight of blood and rotting flesh so much as a flinch, the idea of engaging in small talk with a stranger is enough to make his stomach hurt. Feels safe in the shadows of his friends. Whittling is something that helps to calm and ground him as well. He has quite the collection!
Dara Quinn, The Undertaker leading The Company and all of its business matters. Between managing finances, organizing funeral services, and meeting with patrons, they have taken up in learning about the occult. It’s partly out of curiosity and partly out of an amusement of people’s peculiar devotion to the supernatural—if it’s so popular, it must be real, right? They love a good mystery, and nothing is more mysterious than things you can’t see or control.
Chester Reeves, The Reverend who is impressively handy with a gun. Was he naturally skilled? Or did his profession call for him to learn how to handle firearms? His past has greatly shaped his views on life, fate, and death. Insists that he is less of a profound speaker than an accidental philosopher when he unintentionally drops words of wisdom.
Delfina “Della” Rivera, The Chemist with a keen talent for brewing. Tonics, moonshine, balms, perfume, poison—you name it, she can make it. She had no interest in profiting from her creations, content with experimenting new recipes and sharing with others she meets When she isn’t buried in her chemistry kit, she assists Rupert with embalming and dressing of corpses.
