Madam C.J. Walker was born Sarah Breedlove to former slaves, Owen and Minerva Breedlove in Delta, Louisiana on December 23, 1867. Breedlove became an orphan at age seven when her parents died. Three years later, ten-year-old Sarah and her sister moved across to river to Vicksburg, Mississippi to work as maids. By her fourteenth birthday, Sarah married Moses McWilliams of Vicksburg and three years later gave birth to her only daughter Lelia (who later changed her name to A’Lelia). Breedlove became a widow in 1887. She and her daughter moved to St. Louis to join her older brothers who were barbers. While in St. Louis she found work as a washer woman earning $1.50 per day. She also married her second husband, John Davis, in 1894. The marriage lasted nine years.
In 1905, Breedlove moved to Denver, Colorado where she sold hair care products for St. Louis businesswoman Annie Pope-Turnbo. It was in Denver that she married her third husband, newspaper sales agent Charles Joseph Walker. She also decided in Denver to found a business to manufacture and market her own hair treatment formula which she called Wonderful Hair Grower. Breedlove adopted a new professional name, Madam C.J. Walker, which she retained after her divorce from Charles Walker in 1912 and began to offer her products for sale through door-to-door agents called Madam C.J. Walker Hair Culturists. Walker also set up a training school for her sales personnel.
As the business expanded Walker relocated her operations to Indianapolis, then the largest inland shipping hub in the nation, to establish a factory for her line of beauty products. She also created a chain of beauty parlors in major cities in the United States, South America, and the Caribbean. Breedlove also set up a training school for beauticians in Pittsburgh and began to advertise and sell products by mail order.
By 1915, Madam C. J. Walker was by far the wealthiest African American woman in the nation. Walker was now invited to major gatherings of black leaders and shared the platform with notables such as Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. DuBois. Her personal triumph inspired other women and she was often invited to lecture on business and politics. During World War I the federal government enlisted her to persuade African Americans to support the war effort and to buy war bonds even as it placed her on a list of “Negro subversives” because of her advocacy on behalf of black soldiers who faced racial discrimination. Walker also spoke out on the social conditions affecting African Americans and devoted particular attention and money to the campaign to make lynching a federal crime. Walker also donated money and time to the NAACP, the National Association of Colored Women, the YMCA, and the YWCA and provided the largest contribution for saving the home of Frederick Douglass in Washington, D.C.
Madam C.J. Walker also lived lavishly in a country estate she called Villa Lewaro overlooking the Hudson River in Westchester County, New York. Her neighbors included Jay Gould and John D. Rockefeller. The home at Villa Lewaro, designed by the black architect, Vertner Woodson Tandy, also served as a conference center for summits of black leaders. On May 25, 1919, fifty-one-year-old Walker died at Villa Lewaro.

Can You Stop Using Oil on Your Locs?
If you’re like me you’ve been taught most of your life that you need to oil your hair and grease your scalp daily. You also learned that having dull hair or a dry scalp is a sign of “bad” hair– and nobody wants bad hair.  This desire to have hair that looks good despite what it may actually feel like or how it behaves is just one of the ways we mismanage our own well-being. I share in my recent…

10 Best Hair Fall Prevention Tips For Women
Tumblr media
10 Best Hair Fall Prevention Tips For Women
According to studies, hair fall is the second most common hair problem that women face today. While there are many reasons that can contribute to hair fall, such as genetics, hormonal imbalance, nutrient deficiencies, scalp infections, and side effects of medications, there are also a few things that you can do to prevent it. In this article, we will share with you the 10 best hair fall prevention tips for women.
Why hair fall is common nowadays
Nowadays, hair fall is a very common problem, especially for women. There are multiple reasons for this.
One of the main reasons why hair fall is so common nowadays is because of the increased stress levels that people are facing. Stress can cause several health problems, including hair loss. In addition, poor diet and unhealthy lifestyle choices can also lead to hair fall.
Fortunately, there are many things that women can do to prevent hair fall. First, they should try to reduce the amount of stress in their lives. This can be done by taking some time out for themselves each day and doing things that they enjoy. Additionally, women should make sure that they are eating a healthy diet and getting enough exercise.
There are also a number of products available that can help to prevent hair fall. Biotique shampoo and the other range of Biotique products improve your hair’s quality, making them strong and shiny.
10 best hair fall prevention tips
1. Get a trim
Getting your hair trimmed regularly can help get rid of split ends and damaged hair, which can lead to hair fall.
2. Don’t overdo it with the heat
Using too much heat on your hair can damage it and lead to hair fall. So, avoid using hot tools like curling irons and straighteners as much as possible.
3. Use a mild shampoo
Using a harsh shampoo can strip your hair of its natural oils, making it dry and brittle. This can lead to hair breakage and hair fall. Instead, opt for a milder shampoo that will gently clean your scalp and hair. Biotique shampoo is the best choice if you want a shampoo that is not hard on your hair.
4. Condition your hair
Conditioning your hair helps keep it hydrated and prevents it from becoming dry and brittle. This in turn reduces the risk of hair breakage and hair fall. Biotique products, especially Biotique shampoo and conditioner are the right choice of hair products for your hair.
5. Protect your hair from the sun
The sun can damage your hair, making it dry and frizzy. This can lead to split ends and breakage, which can eventually result in hair fall. So, make sure to protect your hair from the sun by wearing a hat or using a leave-in conditioner with SPF protection.
6. Avoid tight hairstyles
Wearing tight hairstyles like ponytails, buns, and cornrows can put a lot of strain on your hair and scalp. This can lead to hair fall. So, avoid these hairstyles as much as possible.
7. Massage your scalp
Massaging your scalp helps improve blood circulation to the hair follicles, which can promote hair growth and prevent hair fall.
8. Drink plenty of water
Drinking plenty of water helps keep your scalp and hair hydrated, which can reduce the risk of hair fall.
9. Eat a healthy diet
Eating a healthy diet that is rich in protein, vitamins, and minerals helps promote healthy hair growth and prevent hair fall.
10. Reduce stress
Stress can lead to a number of health problems, including hair loss. So, try to reduce the amount of stress in your life as much as possible.
Why you should use Biotique products
If you want to keep your hair strong and prevent it from falling out, give up the shampoos you have been using. They are full of sulphates and parabens that make your hair brittle. Biotique shampoo is the best choice for your everyday hair. If you have hair fall, switch to Biotique shampoo for hair fall.
Biotique products are your hair’s best friend. Start using Biotique shampoo and you will see the change yourself in 3-5 washes!

What Does a Purple Shampoo Do and Which Should I Choose?
Tumblr media
Purple shampoo is a multipurpose must-have shampoo for blondes. Purple shampoo, as the name implies, contains a vibrant violet pigment that is used to cancel out unwanted warm tones in blonde hair. To avoid these undesirable tones, hairloses apply toner to your hair after it has been dyed. This toner, however, fades over time.
The warm tones, which can appear brassy or yellow, accumulate over time due to a combination of external factors such as UV damage and chlorine, as well as your hair's natural pigmentation. Purple shampoo cleans the hair while dispersing the purple pigment throughout the strands. The purple colour rinses away when you wash it out, leaving your hair clean, bright, and beautifully toned.
A great purple shampoo is one that not only neutralizes brassy tones but also works to nourish and hydrate your hair. This is particularly important for color-treated blondes, whose hair is frequently damaged by bleach. The new HASK Blonde Care Purple Toning Shampoo and Conditioner is formulated with powerful moisturizing and repairing ingredients such as elderberry oil, coconut oil, and vitamin C, which restore nutrients to color-treated hair and improve its health.

Gold Coast Hair SOS: Find Your Perfect Hair Fix at Local Chemists
Living on the Gold Coast means battling the elements – sunshine, humidity, and even the occasional sea breeze can wreak havoc on your hair. But fear not, fellow Gold Coast Chemist! Your local chemists are your secret weapon for achieving luscious locks, no matter your hair type or concern.
Did you know that the Australian hair care industry is booming, with a market size exceeding $1.2 billion? This translates to a massive selection of hair care products readily available at your local chemist. From shampoos and conditioners to targeted treatments and styling products, you'll find everything you need to combat frizz, boost volume, or achieve that coveted beachy wave.
The best part? Unlike expensive salon products, chemist hair care is surprisingly affordable. In fact, a recent study found that drugstore hair care brands can be just as effective as their high-end counterparts. With the help of qualified pharmacy staff, you can discover hidden gems that deliver salon-worthy results without the salon price tag.
Many chemists on the Gold Coast stock professional hair care lines typically only found in salons. These lines often contain higher concentrations of active ingredients, making them ideal for tackling specific concerns like thinning hair, color damage, or persistent dandruff.
Worried about choosing the right product for your hair type? Don't sweat it! Pharmacists are there to guide you. They can help you decipher ingredients lists, recommend products based on your specific needs, and even suggest solutions for common Gold Coast hair woes like sun damage and chlorine build-up.
Remember, a healthy scalp is the foundation for healthy hair. Many chemists offer a great selection of scalp scrubs and treatments to remove product buildup and promote a healthy scalp environment, fostering optimal hair growth.
With convenient locations across the Gold Coast, chemists make maintaining your hair care routine a breeze. No more waiting weeks for that must-have product – simply pop into your local chemist and get what you need to keep your hair looking its best.
