“Prince Emmanuelle Filiberto joking about his father punching someone AT KING FELIPE'S WEDDING💀 I typically don't have any problems with deposed royals using their titles because I think it truly has no effect into a nation's well-being and stuff (sorry, don't know how to explain in English) but using a royal title comes with  certain responsibilities. In the case of deposed royal families in which service to the nation is not needed and sometimes even discouraged, the least they could do is to maintain a good public image, good manners and an appropriate behavior. Such acts would be deplorable too in any other case, but to carry them out during a royal wedding is disgusting. And then joking about it?” - Submitted by Anonymous

House of the Prince of Naples, Pompeii.  Photography by Pina Garofalo.
Partial view of the Triclinium (dining room). The wall painting depicts the goddess Venus.
This house, discovered in 1898, was so named because the then Prince of Naples (later King of Italy Vittorio Emanuele III) was present during the excavations and discovery.

if youre interested in royal families to point and laugh at i cannot recommend the Savoy enough.
Here's a free sample:
there's still an active feud within the family regarding which cousin is the legitimate heir to the throne of Italy. Which is, as you may have heard, a republic. We literally voted away the monarchy in 1946. The Savoy family has been exiled until 2002, and their palaces and stuff confiscated by the State.
AND YET, in 2004, during the wedding reception of the spanish prince Felipe, two Savoy cousin HAD A LITERAL FISTFIGHT because both of them wanted to be king so badly.
Look up especially Vittorio Emanuele IV if you're interested in sheer amounts of clownery amd grotesque boat incidents.

Key figures in the story of the shooting in Cavallo
Dirk Hamer - An athletic, friendly 19 year old German who died after being shot in the early hours of 18th August 1978. He was asleep on a boat near the island of Cavallo after a day trip with his sister and her friends.
Prince Vittorio Emanuele and Princess Marina - The son of the last King of Italy. He was alleged to have fired the shot that killed Dirk following a heated encounter on a neighbouring boat. His wife Marina was his staunchest defender throughout.
Birgit Hamer - Dirk's older sister, a model and former Miss Germany. After her brother's death, she would dedicate the next 40 years to getting justice for him.
Beatrice Borromeo - Best known as the daughter in law of Monaco's Princess Caroline, she is a journalist and family friend of Birgit. She was crucial in uncovering Vittorio's bombshell confession and directed a documentary on Dirk's death.

“in short and in conclusion, Vittorio Emanuele di Savoia is not the head of the house of Savoy, his son is ridiculous in reality his whole family is ridiculous and for me the branch of aosta is the legitimate heir to the duchy of savoy these men did things that they are good for italy now Vittorio Emanuele and his descendants only think of the monarchy to obtain status” - Submitted by Anonymous

The Italian monarchy thing is so wild because 1. Why renounce something you don’t have, and if it’s his eldest daughter he could say he wants her to have it one day. Apparently she has like 80k followers on Instagram so he thinks it will help her become queen 😭😂
and that is precisely why I find most deposed royals cringe af lol
first of all, from what I understand most italian monarchists support Prince Aimone, Duke of Aosta as the actual head of the House of Savoy (although Vittorio Emanuele has the stronger claim) so ya know maybe, chill?
Also announcing your decision to renounce your place in the line of ‘succession’ in favor of your 19 year old daughter when you’re not the heir and your father is very much still alive is very odd. But to be fair, Vittorio is 86…..which leads to my next point, isn’t Vittoria entirely too young to be the head of the family now? You can be progressive (and from what has been said about her, she’s classic gen-z, caring social issues and the environment) and have your head of the family be someone younger without having said person to be a teenager.
