Something that I remember sometimes and then get slightly sad and/or angry about is that I once attended a powerpoint night where my PowerPoint concept flopped so badly but three (count 'em 3) of my friends (only one of which attended that particular powerpoint night) asked me if they could use my concept for their own powerpoint nights and all three of them got some kind of praise or award.

The heisters occasionally hold ‘Slides Parties’.

The premise is very simple - any heister who wants to participate as a presenter can do so. They must prepare and present a short PowerPoint presentation on the topic of their choosing - and it can, indeed, be on absolutely ANYTHING - under 10 minutes in length, and then their captive audience are free to ask a few questions before the next presentation.

Of course, sometimes the presentations descend into chaos, because the presenter is a chaotic entity - nobody expected Duke’s presentation to be of this sort.

“Well,” Duke began, smiling broadly at his audience, “it’s so wonderful to have the opportunity to talk to you all about my passion - art!

“But I am no fool. I know not everyone shares my appreciation for paintings and sculptures.” He sighed, as if disappointed in his coworkers.

“So that’s why I thought I’d share with you my favourite - and I’m trying to use language all of you will understand - horniest art.”

He clicks the mouse, and this image appears on-screen:

“First, we have Perseus with the head of Medusa by Cellini. Lovely work, truly - but perhaps we ought to rename it Perseus with a bubble butt. I believe it was Sydney who taught me that, ah, delightful phrase.”

Sydney nodded, grinning and cackling to herself in the corner, a can of beer clasped loosely in her fingers.

“Now-” Another click -

“Does anyone know who this is?”

Immediately the heisters began shouting out various theories.

“Jesus!”

“The angel Gabriel!”

“BAIN!”

Raucous laughter, followed by a hollow beep, and: “I wish.”

The suggestions continue, until finally someone gets it.

“My next Grindr hook-up!”

“Satan-”

“Yes! This is Lucifer, the fallen angel, the devil Himself.”

“Damn,” Sokol whistled, leaning forward on his knees with his elbows, “really do wish he was next Grindr hookup. He’s a... handsome devil.”

Duke managed to only show one more picture before his time was up.

“This has all been rather... male centric so far. So, how about the Ecstasy of St Teresa? Uh, literally.”

“What,” Hoxton asked, once the uproar had somewhat died down, “err. What’s got her so...”

“She’s having a religious experience, of course,” Duke answered, barely able to contain his own laughter. “She’s having a most holy, spiritual moment, Hoxton.”

the thing about autism in fiction is there are autistic-coded characters, but then there are also accidentally autistic characters, and there is basically zero overlap btwn these. autism-coding is when a character is Weird and Blunt and Very Smart and Bad At Feelings and, at least in western media, probably a white man. your spencer reids and your L deathnotes.

but accidental autism is when you make up a guy and when you're deciding what they're like you pick several traits common to autistic people. and you don't mean to do this, and you aren't intentionally leaning on any kind of trope, you are just writing a person and sometimes people are autistic. you have met autistics, knowingly or not – maybe you yourself are an autistic, knowingly or not – so you know people are like that. you aren't making any kind of statement, you are just making a guy.

Ok, I think I have solved The One Direction Wall Incident™

or the 1D Wallgate

I think it happened in Belfast the year 2015 and the 1D member that did was... Niall. Listen to me listen to me, I know we all thought he was the only one who would never do that but give me a second to explain why I think so.

We know the fight was backstage so probably a concert and IDk if you remember but 1D only cancelled 1 concert in their entire time as a band and it was in Belfast (Oct 2015). It was cancelled minutes before the show started because Liam was sick.

It was literally announced on stage while fans were waiting. I think it shows it was a really last minute decision to cancel and that would probably put every member on edge, specially if it was that Liam was just partying or late as it's the rumour.

Liam also admitted the he wasn't in a good place that day. He had broken up with Sophia and was going through some personal stuff. That day it got to him, he also said in an interview in 2017 that by that time the boys felt like they all needed space from eachother. [X]

Even back in 2015 there was a rumor they had a big fight that night. The rumour was also that they released Perfect MV and Home as an apology to the fans. Louis and Harry tweet apologies, and Niall doesn't say anything:

Now, we also know that Niall was set to have an interview and it got cancelled right after the cancellation of the concert because he too was sick.

So... I'm not saying Niall got sick of Liam that day and pushed him against the wall for making them cancel a show, I'm just saying this is my best guess and it's based in the rumours that were going around back then. I think Louis was trying to mediate the whole thing and Harry was in the background processing everything.

Liam admitted he wasn't actually sick that day, so I imagine Niall wasn't sick either for the interview. They probably just had a big fight, tension was high because Zayn had left the band earlier that year and 1D was coming to an end.

like hey? just because you’re so used to the polished details and voiceovers of buzzfeed unsolved doesn’t mean you’re gonna get that every time. newsflash, this is their channel, their videos, their ideas, and RYAN’S presentation.

ryan didn’t try? he fucking helped make the video. he made ghost files (obviously with the help of others.) he made unsolved. ryan doesn't care/doesn’t believe anymore? just because he’s playing a tired/indifferent character in one video doesn’t mean that he’s actually indifferent. and if his presentation made you believe in ghosts less, sorry, maybe work on not being so easily swayed by other people.

if you’re disappointed with his presentation or don’t like the character he’s playing, then don’t comment on the video! click out! don’t watch it! it’s one press of a button! he’s making jokes! that’s what he and shane built a brand on!

and all the people in the comments like “it wouldn’t have made a difference if he did try”. we know, you’re so cool for not believing in ghosts, so cynical and edgy. y’know what shane, the most skeptical skeptic and self-proclaimed nihilist has never done on camera? said this shit about ryan.

if you don’t like the character that ryan is playing, that he’s tired in this video, that his presentation is humorous, then don’t watch the video. if you don’t like that he believes in ghosts, y’know, what he’s built his career on, then don’t watch the fucking videos where he talks about that.

sorry this is so ranty and angry, but the way this fandom treats ryan (and steven too, y’know, the co-creators of color) is honestly so frustrating and disgusting sometimes. coming from a shane fan, (i do believe in ghosts tho, so maybe i have a bias) he isn’t the only co-creator of watcher. not to mention that he’s literally talked about how “he has feeling”, so maybe we shouldn’t be pushing this nihilistic/indifferent shit onto him every video.
