I’m fairly new to the fandom, but I do have a question if you can answer it! Why do people ship Daigo with Aoki / Masato? I tried looking to see if they’ve interacted before, but couldn’t find anything! Sorry for asking I’m just </3 dumb AND I LOVE YOUR ART OF THEM!!! Nerd looking ahhhhhh
hi ! welcome to the community i hope you're having a lovely time so far and ty for enjoyin my stuff :) no need for apologies it's a very fair question to have :]
i cant speak for everyone (all. ten people into masadai anyway) but Personally To Me i just think the idea of them together is very funny. thats quite literally it im afraid..
#snap chats#//twenty page google doc in the background// ignore that. it's mostly for comedic purposes#might also be my fault idk sorry about that. allegedly. idk ive had like three people tell me they started to ship them cause of me 🧍‍♂️#@mementoasts is another person who's drawn masadai and whose stuff i love and am inspod by .. i love their disneyland fic sm ...#there was another artist on twitter who posted a neat drawing of them but i cant remember who they were and i didnt bookmark it //screams//#recently there's been ANOTHER masadai artist ive started following on twitter - @wifekiryu. his account's n/s/f/w fyi before you go looking#he has a tumblr too @foxdies. i say cause i realized as much recently vjeaKLGJALKGJ#oh but I GUESS ill get deeper into why. /i/ personally ship masadai or whatever#first off they're opposing factions yet their character alignments Do Not Match their roles. stereotypically anyway#aoki who leads the 'surface' of society and is meant to be an admirable figure and someone 'just' when really. he sucks LMAO#though that's not atypical of politicians but just from a stereotypical This Is A Respectable Individual perspective of his role#daigo on the other hand leads the 'underbelly' of society- yk comprised of dangerous criminals and outcasts and whatnot#yet as we know him daigo's compassionate and considerate of his men- he doesnt treat them like tools like aoki does#if put in a room with the two daigo would be most people's choice of person to hang out with. probably open a trapdoor on aoki tbh#and i think thats really cool and epic i always love that kinda Subverting Expectations thing#theres also the fact they both started off like. edgy/angsty in the franchise and then brush up down the line#masato does a stronger 180. publicly. obviously but its still really funny they both have to get their act together#if you wanna talk about in-text reasons. there really is none LMAO I TELLS YOU masadai is pure crack#but if i wanted to pull a muscle reaching then there's daigo being on aoki's side while everyone else is on arakawa's during the funeral#im lying of course. mitsu was behind him. rgg tryna make me forget mitsu exist .... put him back in y8 ....#and ofc ichi joins that side to even out the seating but moving on another Goofy Reason is arakawa being like#'the chairman and my son are like p much the same age Surely he knows how he thinks :)'#and then i just think daigo being all smarmy about outsmarting aoki is really goofy and im choosing to interpret that as personal#they both also have issues with their dad. s. dad/s/. anyway.#tbh the google doc tag was a joke but i really could sit here and list every dumb reason why i think theyre funny together#like i started going over the tag limit so uhhhh yeah needless to say i have a lot of. dumb reasons 💀💀💀💀#one day ill use the main text for long rambles like this but todays not that day Point Is my imagination is rampant im afraid#so the short and sweet of it is I Think It's Funny. And They'd Be Terrible Together. Which Is Why It's Funny.#and the unfortunate part is anything i find funny i obsess over for a year so. //gestures to the mountain of bullshit thats my masadai tag/

and also abt fan interactions, i do think it’s weird when fans act like or feel like they know the guys and say things out of pocket sometimes. i know they’re mostly joking and it’s all in good fun but like (sorry for bringing it up again lol) even with dan’s mustache, ppl telling him or messaging him directly on twitter saying to shave it off bc they don’t personally like it was super weird to me. like obviously it’s funny to say things like that i guess and they don’t mean any harm but idk sometimes these same fans talk abt him like they know him so maybe that’s why i find it weird and plus i think dan has said how insecure he is all the time i’m sure he doesn’t want to hear ppl tell him things like that (he probably doesn’t see it all or care but still) and like obv ppl can have their opinion but they don’t have to say it directly to him like they know him lol
people were dming him about his moustache??? jesus christ what is wrong with people. ok lots of thoughts so im going to put it under the read more thing lol
but yeah i completely agree with you. its a funny thing cause i think theres that sort of internet culture humour of being really like blunt or 'savage' and the weird thing about fandoms is that people are almost looking for recognition from other people in the fandom or to become a like 'big name' in it, which sometimes seems to come at the expense of the person/people the fandom is built around.
james acaster talks about it really well here i think and i also know the lead singer of waterparks was on about blocking 'fans' who were literally just constantly saying rude things to him to try and get a response and he said something along the lines of like if you've got a friend who just says mean things about you they're not actually a friend they're just a bully, which like yeah
i agree tho like everyones allowed to have an opinion and stuff but it does bother me how some people speak about dan sometimes. i know its not meant to be that deep but also like its literally his face why should he care if some twitter user a decade younger than him doesnt like his choice of what he does with his own facial hair??? it doesn't matter??? stop just insulting a strangers appearance cause you think its funny wtf lol

I feel moved to do this so I’m gonna
I can only speak for the US, but if you think covid isn’t a big deal anymore you are being lied to. on multiple levels.
First and most important, covid is airborne. It was always airborne. This is a well-established fact in the medical community and has been for awhile. What this means is that, in indoor spaces and crowded outdoor spaces, it is chilling in the air and you are inhaling it with every breath you take. The more virus you inhale, the sicker you will be. The gov knows it, the cdc knows it, everyone knows it. Nobody wants to say this to avoid accountability that they fucked up the initial response with a focus on droplets, and they don’t want “panic”. Plus it will obviously cost them more.
herd immunity was never, and is not going to be, a thing with this virus
You can and will get reinfected. And with every infection, you’re at higher risk of severe disease and organ damage, including your brain.
Two very large studies on Long Covid have recently come out, and in summary, it is very real and you don’t want this shit. It’s estimated that 1 in 5 infected people will get it and there is no cure yet. Even if we find one, organ and brain damage is not reversible.
covid is causing an increase in brain disorders
this is an LA emergency room today as of August 27 2022 It’s like this all over as you can see in the comments.
children are at significantly higher risk for covid complications
masking doesn’t hurt kids’ speech development
earloop masks don’t do shit to protect you at this point and this is well established in the medical community. It’s N95 or higher or you have very little protection. Any mask is better than no mask. If you have absolutely no choice but to use ear looped masks, a mask brace helps significantly
you can get a p100, a mask with even higher filtration than n95, on amazon for $30. This is the one I bought. Here are more p100 and elastomeric masks you can buy safely
here is an indepth video on how to perform a DIY fit test at home using instructions from the US Army. You should be doing this with every mask you have (if you’re curious as to why federal mask mandates were never enforced or even discussed, it’s because federal law mandates that companies have to fit test every employee if masks are required for airborne protection and they can’t/don’t want to figure out how to work around this for the general public. You need to fit test for a mask to work accurately.)
one of the key components to actually returning life to normal for everyone, including the disabled, is air filtration. The Corsi-Rosenthal Box is a cheap, open source air filter that’s on par with more expensive filtration systems. At it’s best, it reduces 80% of the covid inhalation dose, which is the equivalent of a group of people all wearing decent quality, fitting masks. This not only helps against covid, but also reduces exposure to other respiratory illnesses and even allergies! People all over the country are making these and donating them to schools, businesses, people in need, etc. Here’s a video on how to make one yourself and I highly recommend you do if you can. If you don’t like masks for whatever reason, this is how we get rid of them
here is an awesome thread about traveling during covid
If you’d like reviews on various types of masks and if they pass fit tests, this is the guy you wanna follow
if you’re looking for graphs and charts and statistics, you wanna follow this account
if you wanna know more about air filtration, literally everyone in the medical community worth their salt is constantly screaming about it on twitter, but I recommend following this guy
and if you want accurate information about covid, then you should follow one of the first whistleblowers for the disease. He’s been right about everything so far, and he’s also posting accurately about monkeypox
NOW HOW ABOUT A FEW GOOD THINGS??????
a very promising prophylactic for covid, called Evusheld, exists and has been authorized for emergency use in the US. If you are immunocompromised, over the age of 12, and 88+ pounds, please harass your GPD and pharmacy to give it to you!!!! It is actively being suppressed and the us gov isn’t buying supply, so most medical professionals don’t know it exists and will fight you about it. Even if you aren’t in the US, it’s available in over 100 countries!!!!!
Novavax is a new and very promising vaccine that would be effective for emerging variants, and it’s working better than the current vaccines to prevent infection. But, again, the US is refusing to buy supply and the FDA is dragging their feet because the current administration is pfizer’s bitch :)
also, in general, I know it sounds scary that covid is airborne, but we have a lot of airborne diseases, and we know how to fight them. They aren’t magic. We can and do manage them all the time. It’s just that for some reason (capitalism), we’ve decided not to this time.
but the information is still available. We don’t have to lie down and let this thing destroy our communities and isolate our disabled and vulnerable neighbors. We have the ability, at any time, to end this shit for real and make our local communities safer, with or without the gov’s help.
we just have to do it.

So, me and my friend @megamispe rewatched Monters vs Alians lately. My first thought? Why not make a komaeda centred au based on that lol. My computer broke, so I haven't drawn all the characters, but here's some doodles.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm having lots of fun with this au, so ill probably post more of it later. (Feel free to ask me about it if you'd like!)
Also, check Mega's twitter account, she gave me a lot of ideas for this au!!
The story would follow the same line as the movie, except that I added some stuff, so here's about the characters for now if you'd like to know:
Nagito Komaeda: Pretty much the same thing that happens to Susan in the movie, except... he's Komaeda...
Nagito was supposed to marry Byakuya the day a large meteor hit him. Said meteor contained a large amount of radiation that Komaeda ended up absorbing at the impact. Of course, he survived the incident due to his luck.
However, the radiation began affecting his body during the ceremony, which caused his previously light brown hair to turn white and his height to increase unbelievably huge. With that the wedding has been ruined, the guests were scared for their lives, Byakuya was grossed out by him now, and a monster containment organization has been called to capture him. The only ones who did worry about Nagito were Sonia and Gundham, but they could do nothing to stop him from being captured. Komaeda blames himself and his luck for ruining what should be the happiest day of his life and convinced himself that no matter what he tried, his chances of having the loving family he always longed for would always be taken away from him.
Byakuya Togami: He's the heir of the Togami corporation—just like in canon— and was about to marry Komaeda more for status and money than love. Nagito's family was loaded and had control over many interesting businesses for Togami, that's why he chose to marry Nagito, who was the only person left in his family. But once the radiation took over Komaeda, Byakuya gave up on the idea instantly. He did not want to deal with a giant-sized Komaeda, thinking that would ruin his image and career. It's not like Nagito has his family's assets now that he's a monster, so he's not interesting to Byakuya anymore. (Togami is a fucking asshole in this au, I'm sorry, Togami fans)
Sonia Nevermind + Gundham Tanaka: They're Nagito's best friends. Since Nagito's parents are dead, they're the ones who always help him out, including at his wedding. They were the only ones who were more for Komaeda himself after the meteor episode. Gundham even tried to stop some of the soldiers from the organization, but that was in vain, he and Sonia were pulled out of the area as well as the rest of the guests.
Eventually, when the monsters get Mukuro's permission to leave the containment base, Komeada goes directly to Gundham and Sonia's house so they know he's okay. Both Sonia and Gundham don't mind his new form, they're just happy to have their best friend back safe and sound.
Bonus: Gundham says that Nagito has reached his true form and that he knew from the start that Nagito wasn't entirely human. Komaeda shrugged it off as he knows it's just Gundham's dramatic way of speaking.
Mukuro Ikusaba: She takes the role of R. Monger.
Mukuro is a very talented soldier who got promoted to be in charge of area fifty-something(yes, the same as the movie. I'm not creative), where the monsters are being kept. She's cold looking and very straight to the point, but she also has a soft spot for the monsters she takes care of. That being said, she goes on her way to make sure they're comfortable in their new forever home, even if they can't escape to the outside world due to how humans would react.
After some months after Nagito's containment, Mukuro received the information that a huge alien robot bear had arrived on earth and proved to be a threat as it was killing innocent people and causing despair all over the place. Mukuro convinced the government to use the monsters to fight the robot since not even the armed force could, and in exchange, the monsters could finally be free.
Needless to say that Mukuro cared a lot for them, so she was very nervous about this decision as they could get hurt or even die.
Chiaki Nanami: Chiaki is a werebat. She has been in area fifty-something since she was 15. She's now 23.
Nanami has been found by the monster containment organization with one of her wings broken, so it was easier for them to capture her. It was a scary experience, she hated it there, but things improved when she met the Ultimate Hope, who she only calls Hajime(or Izuru if he's in control), they got attached very quickly as they noticed they were both very lonely and had problems socializing with the others monsters in the facility.
When she was 18, Mukuro got her promotion. Chiaki was cautious about her at first, but that soon changed as Ikusaba showed the monsters genuine care. Mukuro even gifted Chiaki a portable game console, which led to Nanami hyperfixation on games.
Nanami got interested in Nagito almost instantly, when he got into the facility, because of her curiosity. She surely hadn't planned that, but after some months, she and Hajime had developed a very strong bond with the white-haired man.
Hajime/Izuru(Ultimate Hope): The Ultimate Hope was born from a failed experiment a mad scientist performed on his son—Hajime Hinata— when the boy was 5 years old to try and stuff all talents known in the child's brain. That resulted in the creation of Izuru, however, the scientist hadn't expected Hajime's memories and soul to still be alive after the experiment. The Ultimate Hope was captured by the monster containment organization right after said experiment when they ended up killing their father in a post-trauma rage assessment.
Hajime and Izuru, despite showing different personalities, are the same person. They have the same feelings, same memories, same body... if, somehow, they were to be split apart, it'd be similar to cutting off a body member.
Hajime and Izuru intercalate who's in control of their body depending on the situation, Hajime being more in control during social and support situations, and Izuru during situations that require a bit more logic. Usually, Hajime's the one in control and izuru appears as his shadow. The same happens when Izuru takes control, but Hajime's the one being his shadow.
As previously mentioned, they take interest in Nagito and decide to approach him alongside Chiaki.
Akane Owari: She's a werewolf. Surprisingly the most difficult one to capture.
Akane has been found in a small village scaring some villagers away so she could steal their food and bring them to her younger siblings.
The monster containment organization tried to capture her more than once, but she always escaped using her inhuman speed. She also put up a fight leaving many soldiers harmed, but never killed them. She has only been captured one day when she came back to her cave and couldn't find her siblings anywhere. She lost the will to fight and let herself be captured.
She still don't know where they are, and that worries her very much, but she allowed herself to enjoy her new life since she not only got free food in the facility, but also got along pretty well with the other monsters.
King Monokuma: It is a gigantic alien robot that Junko sent to earth, in Japan to be precise, to torment the humans and bring them despair. However, King Monokuma is merely a distraction from her actual takeover plan.
She knew that the robot bear would get the world's attention, having most of the countries send resources that they believed would help take it down, as King Monokuma was believed to be a menace not only to Japan, but to the rest of the world too.
Still, even with how strong the robot was, it was defeated by the monsters strangely easily.
Junko Enoshima: Junko is an alien that destroyed her own planet. She's completely in love with despair and wants every living being to feel it.
It's always the same plan, she sends one of her Monokumas to scare the inhabitants of the planet she chose, and kills a bunch of people, only sparing a few that she thought that'd make wonderful remnants of despair and make them destroy their home planet themselves...
She'd watch the chaos and also plan more despairing things to do with the planet's inhabitants, like different types of killing games, until she gets bored and went to the next planet.
But earth is a little special for her, as it would not be the first time she'd be there. This time, she's eager to see a certain soldier again, but not only that, she wants the amount of power that had been contained within Komaeda(of course she doesn't knows that he's the one who has been hit by that meteor...yet).
Bonus thingy: Hajime/Izuru and Chiaki teach Nagito how to feel love. The trio + Mukuro and Akane become a founding family!!!

this is not to disagree with any of your points on antipsychiatry which i 95% agree with, but to provide a data point/share something that makes my brain itch.i've been diagnosed with functional neurological disorder, which was formerly called conversion disorder, and before that hysteria. new advances in fMRI technology are showing us that there are measurable changes in brain function and stereotyped symptoms that are consistent across centuries.
many hysterics had what is now recognised as a neurological disorder that is moving away from the realm of psychiatry. FND symptoms are also remarkably consistent across cultures. ( There’s a paper called “why FND is not feigning or malingering” on Jon Stone’s twitter that discusses this. His tweet on Feb 16t has a free link - it’s not on scihub yet afaik.)
It’s odd to be someone with a disabling and contested condition that’s been turned into a punchline/gotcha (deservedly!). that makes it difficult to engage with antipsychiatry at times. Are there any writers you know of that address this? Am I being a silly little rabbit that is uncomfortable when we are not about me? Thanks for the excellent writing and nonexistent cooking blog, would truly appreciate your thoughts on this
Thanks for the compliment, though I don't see why a blog that doesn't even exist is being brought into this...?
Anyway—if you believe that this example furnishes a contradiction to the aims and claims of anti-psychiatry*, then it's likely that you have the too-narrow view of what anti-psychiatry necessarily 'says' about the purpose of psychiatry in a capitalist / imperialist state that the post you're referencing criticises.
The post asserts that it is not sufficient to claim that capitalism creates or causes certain symptoms which it then pathologises (i.e., claims is a specific 'sickness' inhering in the individual). Rather, we have to also consider how and why it constructs the idea of 'sickness' (here, "mental illness") in the first place. The claim is that it is the way that we consider symptoms, how they are sorted and classified, how they are considered "abnormal" and "disordered" because and to the extent that they are associated with an inability to work or otherwise be compliant in a capitalist society, that characterises psychiatry under capitalism.
The fact that certain symptoms are "neurologically instantiated" doesn't 'break' this claim, then, because the claim does not rest on the idea that capitalism must necessarily create the symptoms it pathologises. Sometimes you can point to a pretty clear example of psychiatry 'making up' a disorder out of whole cloth, where the neurological component of it is unclear or irrelevant (e.g. "child is disobedient" disorder or "wife is disobedient" disorder or "slave runs away" disorder). But the claims and goals of antipsychiatry do not wholly rest on such instances, because even a disorder which is neurologically instantiated, even an instance of clear neurological or physical difference (and here the logic overlaps with that of the social model of disability), is still parsed and classified and read as deviant in a particular way according to the logic of (and in order to serve the goals of) capital and empire.
So let's say it's true that the symptoms associated with a disorder formerly commonly known as "hysteria" are neurologically instantiated. Psychiatric logic and institutions saw a variety of symptoms (of yet unclear etiology), grouped them together and classified them as a single disorder under the name "hysteria," reserved this diagnosis largely for bourgeois white women (since this kind of heightened emotionality was unexpected but 'treatable' in white women, but expected of and criminalised in 'savages'), and used that diagnosis (and its withholding) to control populations. None of this is in contradiction to any of the claims about psychiatry that this line of argument makes.
Again, we are not claiming that psychiatry always makes disorders up from nothing, or that the symptoms that it pathologises are always created by capitalism, reasonable coping behaviours in traumatic situations, reasonable actions taken against oppressive conditions, &c. Examples of this kind of thing should be read in line with claims that psychiatry is given the job of controlling populations in a capitalist state, that psychiatry gets to differentiate "normal" from "abnormal" according to its own logic in the the first place, &c. This exact idea—that thinking that psychiatry always makes disorders up from nothing is a "pitfall" in understanding what antipsychiatry is about—is in fact the central argument of the post that kicked all of this off. Plus the second bit of the post you're referencing was in direct response to the exact same sort of question (“Are you arguing that the biological processes which produce the things we call mental illnesses would themselves not exist, and/or not cause suffering, and/or not warrant description/categorization, in a non-capitalistic world?”), so I'd suggest rereading it.
Perhaps your confusion comes in with thinking that psychiatry = "mental" and thus illusory, while medicine = "physical" and thus necessarily 'real' / robust (you note that this disorder is "recognised as a neurological disorder that is moving away from the realm of psychiatry")? But the same criticisms that psychiatry comes in for apply to disorders that are thought of as "physical"—even when physical difference obviously exists (and even when it obviously causes suffering on its own), the medical model still considers "disability" as an "abnormality" defined by inability to work and otherwise be an obedient citizen of a capitalist state. Its idea of "normal" is a capitalist one that must be criticised.
*Please note that this is an oversimplification, as different people in different decades write under this banner. I'm discussing the strain of 'antipsychiatry' that's specifically at issue here, namely one that views pyschiatry and psychiatric pathologisation as one aspect of the bio-medical arm of capitalism and empire.

Hii same anon ! Do you got any headcanons for mertyl?💕👀😙
Btw I saw this post was wondering if you could tell me your thoughts on this.

Would you mind me becoming 🗽 anon?
□🗽anon.□
i would love it if you kept sending me things!! i love talking abt 4kota it keeps me occupied while waiting for the next chapter LOL
im gonna talk about the twitter post first cause its just easier to answer, ill put it here so people can read it
“Anybody ever thought about this but could Mertyl be part of a another race too? Idk why I thought of this. Instead of just being human...could he have some kind of magic...???”
honestly i dont think hes anything but human, i saw someone say that he looks like “your stereotypical human Britannian” and i find that very amusing. also humans can have magic? not sure why him having magic would mean he’s part of a different race. it could lead to some cool AU’s though!!
as for headcanons? i havent really thought about it much, but here’s a few that come to mind:
— he has WIND MAGIC i dont make the rules!! (my only reasoning is that be has gray hair and his whip/sword thing feels like it would fit that idk)
— he gets along so good with belte they just annoy the fuck out of the other siblings and its very amusing to them (mertyl always makes sure to apologize though)
— he looks up to king more than diane i think, simply because king can relate to him in the “not fitting in” area
— if everything works out okay in the end for this arc, i think him and nasiens will actually get along pretty alright. definitely not willingly at first though. think of them being in one shirt that says “we love each other!!”
— sixtus totally helps him train on occasion, simply because he needs a sparring partner and he feels that sixtus is the strongest of the siblings (i have no idea if he is but cmon the spirit sword? let me have fun)
— once him and nasiens actually get along, he totally makes fun of nasiens about almost being named mertyl (nasiens hates this because he very much cherishes his own name)

Here is my best explanation on why Six dropped Mono:
---------------Context: This is copy and pasted from a comment I made on Tericho’s part 2 Shadow Six video where he unfortunately joined the ‘pin all of the blame of the world’s distortion on Six and only Six’ party, and the whole 'the world's distortion is all Six's fault' argument is the one that pisses me off the most. I pointed out that Mono not releasing Thin Man and Thin Man not kidnapping Six could've also prevented the time loop, but some people replied saying that if Six didn't betray Mono then Thin Man wouldn't exist. I replied showing some information that David Mervik gave in an interview that Tericho failed to look at, while also using all of the official answers that the devs gave us on why Six dropped Mono, in-game stuff that is mostly ignored and a few other things that few people consider. I’ve already copy and pasted this explanation of mine a couple of times on the LN subreddit, on Six’s page on the fandom wiki and a post I made on the LN community on Amino, so I thought I’d put it here too for more people to see and gain some new insight as people have told me that my explanation is a good one. Without further ado, here is my copy and pasted reply, and quick warning, this will be a bit long so prepare yourself:-------------
Tumblr media
I need to mention this point to debunk the ‘The world’s distortion is all Six’s fault argument’, which as I said is the one that pisses me off the most, as it shows that while it’s unclear how it works, that Thin Man existed before Mono’s cycle began. I’ll kind of get back to this later.
So here are all of the answers that the devs would give us on why Six dropped Mono:
1:
Tumblr media
The LN Twitter shed a bit more light on this:

-----------------------------
And so with all of these breadcrumbs, here is my best explanation on why Six dropped Mono:
These point to the reason why she let go of Mono is because the way he forced her back into the reality she hated against her will. Because the music box in the signal tower put Six into a fantasy that she didn't want to be separated from, similar to the viewers with the tvs. And what happens when you interrupt the fantasy that the TVs give the viewers? The viewers turn hostile, just like Six when Mono begins to smash the music box. The only difference is that the viewers will try to kill Mono if he disturbs them without turning off the TVs too, but Six initially shares her escapism and fantasy with Mono, she wanted Mono to join her in the fantasy too, and when he begins to force her out of it she then turns hostile. And like the Twitter said: the more of us understand the pain Mono caused Six than we realise.
And remember, the two of them used to call to each other as safety and communication, and now Mono is using that calling system against her. Mono shouts at Six to get to her music box to break it, and each time he hits it Six hunches over and screams in pain, so every hit to the music box causes Six physical pain. Mono tortured Six in his attempt to save her in signal tower. Sure it may be a necessary evil, but that's easily said when you're not the one on the receiving end of said torture, and for her own good or not it was still torturous for Six.
And so finally, after being kidnapped and practically torn in half (Shadow Six's creation) by the monster that Mono let out (and Six tried to prevent that from happening), being twisted and turned into a monster, torturously forced back to the reality she hated by Mono, given no time to process what just happened because the flesh walls start giving chase immediately afterwards and just barely managing to get onto the ledge near the exit - do you really think that an already mentally ill 9 year old kid would be in the right state of mind to think rationally and make a well thought out decision? Especially when everything around her is literally still collapsing? The platform that Six was on broke off and fell shortly after she began entering the exit, so whether she knew that would happen or not either way she had to think fast but was not in the right state of mind to think rationally, so she let go.
Obviously none of this justifies Mono getting dropped, but it explains why she did it and shows that it's not really her fault, it's not Mono's fault either because he didn't know that the Thin Man was behind the door and it seemed like breaking the music box was the only way to get Six out of the Signal Tower. And like Mervik said, they both have different perspectives on this:
Mono sees this as "I was trying to help her and this how she thanks me?"
And Six sees it as "I tried to stop him from releasing a monster from the TV that tore something out of me and took me to a horrible place that tortured me and turned me into a monster but took me to a fantasy that helped ease my pain. Later my friend came and I was so excited to see him again despite him releasing a monster that did this to me and even offered him to join me in the fantasy, but instead he forces me back to the reality that I hate. No matter how much I screamed from the pain, he kept doing it anyway. After everything I did for him, this is the thanks I get?"
Of course we play the game as Mono, so we get only his perspective of this, making it biased since the game doesn't easily offer Six's perspective of this.
So in conclusion: there was once a Thin Man that wasn't Mono, so Thin Man's existence isn't Six's doing. Thin Man's, Mono's AND Six's actions ALL cause the cycle to repeat, but none of them were in the right state of mind or knew that any of this would happen, so it's neither of their fault. What happened on that ledge was all a misunderstanding and miscommunication didn't help in that regard, but of course the signal tower ensured that this would happen because the flesh walls subtly help Mono make it to the ledge to ensure that Six dropping him does happen, because if he falls into the pit normally it just goes back to the previous checkpoint, the game only continued when Mono gets betrayed by Six. The Signal Tower needed Mono to be broken by Six's betrayal to infect him with escapism and turn him into Thin Man. It also needed Six to not be in the state of mind to think rationally, so every hit to the music box caused Six pain and tortured her and it began chasing immediately afterwards to make sure that Mono couldn't explain to Six why he did that. Only after an unknown number of years does it offer escapism to Mono, now Thin Man, being
Tumblr media
so he goes back to the past and betrays Six by kidnapping her and creating Shadow Six, whatever Shadow Six might be. Keep in mind that this version of Six was innocent; she did nothing wrong to Mono at that point, so it's grossly unfair for Mono to lash out at her for betraying him because this version of Six didn't do that yet. And whether it was out of vengeance or for a 'second chance', Six didn't consent to being taken away to the Signal Tower, so Mono's actions of kidnapping the innocent version of Six is both selfish of him and betraying her. And in doing so it allowed the Signal Tower to set up its trap for young Mono again.
So Mono and Six betrayed each other, and the Signal Tower wanted this to happen. Since neither of them knew that this would happen, and didn't intend for everything to turn out like this, it's neither of their fault.
Apologies that this is an essay, but this everything I have to say about why the blame shouldn't be pinned on Six or Mono. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk, hope you enjoyed.
Bonus. If anyone is still asking why Six are the Nome instead of the sausage, the devs have already answered this too:

Mutual on Twitter was talking about Daigo instinctively feeling the need to put the pieces of Mine's ruined life back together and make him feel at ease... Is That Not The Appeal Of AraSawa As Well... like they might not know the depth of what their lives were like before in full but surely there are some details safe to share and there's very little that wouldn't sound bleak... but it's also a MineDai But To The Left sort of moment because Mine has always felt he deserves basic human decency, even if he has to earn it, but that's never been the case for Jo... [SORRY I'LL GET TO PENDING RESPONSES I'VE JUST BEEN LOST IN THE SAUCE for better or worse it feels wrong not to write in every day at this point 😭😭😭]
i remember telling my twitter mutual that arasawa was minedai but with dads and the way a light bulb seemed to go off for her was just perfect LMAO
but on the real arasawa IS a lot like minedai when it comes to some themes, and moreover they still maintain their individuality (aside from the dad aspect LMAO) in the parties involved, ESPECIALLY mine and jo
it's weird to explain, but daigo, in a sense, was an 'end goal' for mine. maybe not in THAT way, but just having his comradery was a sample of the thing he'd been striving for his whole life. ergo, mine joins the yakuza specifically due to interest in daigo, and decides to stay and commit himself to it because of daigo- and as you said, mine understands his worth and wants his efforts to be reciprocated. the problem is that he's not exactly sociable..
inversely, arakawa was, on the contrary, an accident for jo: sure, he swore up in order to be closer to his son. but now By The Fate Of The Cruel Universe jo's found himself becoming attached to arakawa too, whether he wholly admits it or not. A Cruel Fate not only in that jo undoubtedly doesn't believe he'd be deserving of something special with arakawa, but that he also shouldn't pursue something special with arakawa considering their positions in the clan (also masato would probably throw a fit and he can't be upsetting his baby boy </3)
BUT THIS IS THE SIMILARITY OF DAIGO AND ARAKAWA RIGHT so often comparing mine and jo, i never touch on how the other two relate... but of course with them, daigo and arakawa try to become closer to mine and jo (evidently we see daigo have a little more success on account of rgg refusing to let arakawa and jo be in a room together for more than five minutes). its unfortunate that we don't get to hear much of arakawa's thoughts on jo, but if it's anything like daigo and his concern over mine (i.e. worrying that mine is only concerned with money/only sees value in himself through his wealth, wanting to be closer to him and get rid of the 'stiffness' between them) i imagine he harbors similar sentiment (and being a Bonafide Father instead of a proverbial one like daigo, i wouldn't be surprised if he could be more anxious/concerned over jo, especially considering the- albeit small- age gap absent in minedai).

moots!!! followers!!! who listened to ttpd, what are your favorite songs <3
where do I start?
I truly think “Whose afraid of little old me?” Is one of her best songs to date. my fav lyric is “I was tame, I was gentle 'til the circus life made me mean” I picture this whole song with the cage scene of the lwymmd mv. I feel like this is what the media thinks the rep era was. ALSO THANk YOU AimEE LIKE??? IN THE MIDST OF IT WE BRING THIS BACK?
“But daddy I love him” was truly my fav the first time I heard the album, “I'll tell you something about my good name It's mine alone to disgrace” I heard this line and immediately thought about the letter someone posted on Twitter and I always wondered how she might react to that, and well here it is. I also really like the contrast of this song with “I can fix him” bc i think it’s like an oh shit… maybe MAYBE he was not all that.
“Florida!!!” Truly has something in it that idk but I didn’t think I was going to like it but it is amazing.
With “The smallest man who ever lived” I went with expectations of it being about joe never stepping up but I never expected it to be about MH. I also never expected the title track to be abt mh like,,,
And I feel like “the manuscript “ was a great last song for album, it reminds me of “dear reader” like a closer idk why.
Sorry for the rant, I have no one to talk abt Taylor swift with and you asked haha
What did you think abt the album?
omg no don’t be sorry anon!!! YOU CAN DM ME ILL ALWAYS BE HAPPY TO TALK ABT TAYLOR :)
who’s afraid of little old me is so so good!!! thank you aimee is sooooooo-
she was sick with but daddy i love him omg thank god that woman came to her senses later. yk what it’s not one of my FAVS but just cause she says my name i’ll always defend her!!
omg not that i hated florida!!! on the first listen but i was so surprised but it really grew on me and i had “it’s one hell of a drug” stuck in my head yesterday 😭
i never expected us to have any song about that man on ttpd fr but here we are 💀
when i tell you the end of the manuscript RUINED me i mean it like- such a sad ending
what i thought abt the album omg!!! i was so overwhelmed during the first listen to the point i was like “pls not a double album” because i literally couldn’t process anything happening with that album but we did get a double album and it made it sm better to me because i’m an aaron girl :’) and there’s still a few songs i barely listen to but the album is really growing on me. (i think aaron saved it and maybe jack and taylor are- oh)

Frozen 2 Letter to Disney Animation
((Two years ago, I wrote a letter to Disney Animation about my grievances with Frozen 2, and they recently wrote me back. I will include the response in another post, but since people were asking me what I wrote in the letter, I thought I would post it here. Buckle up, because it is long and unhinged. It also gets really personal, so bear with me.))
Dear Staff of the Walt Disney Animation Studios,
My name is Laura, and I am 33 years old. You probably don’t get a lot of letters from people my age, but my love for Disney movies never wanes as I grow older. I’ve been a fan for my whole life and grew up with the Renaissance films of the 90s. As an adult, Disney is one of my favorite sources of fantasy and escapism, and I love how complex and dynamic so many of your characters are. I actually began this letter at the beginning of 2020, and have been working on it for the past year and a half because I wanted it to be just right. It also required digging into deep emotions that aren’t always easy for me to handle, so that caused delays as well. My original draft was also seven pages long, so I had to condense it.
The reason I am writing to you is to discuss Frozen II. I am a HUGE Frozen fan, and it is my favorite Disney film next to Hercules. Elsa is my very favorite character, for so many reasons. I love that she was a flawed human who had magical powers instead of a stereotypically perfect super-heroine. I also see a lot of myself in her, and have connected with her deeply since I first saw the movie. I share a lot of her traits (like being artistic and introverted), but I also saw a lot of parallels between her story and my own life. When I was a kid, I got picked on and bullied by other kids, so I spent a lot of time alone and isolated. I was very different from everyone, because I didn’t follow trends and was very enthusiastic about my likes. I was also very sensitive and wore my heart on my sleeve, which made it more fun for bullies to target me. Many adults, including my own mother, often told me to not express my feelings or interests so that I couldn't give my tormentors things to pick on me about, so I literally had my own "Conceal, don't feel" instructions. Of course, even when I tried, my emotions were always written on my face and my parents often helicoptered over me trying to help, just like in the flashbacks of Elsa trying to control her powers in her youth.
I also have anxiety and depression, which is a huge reason why the first film resonated with me. I’ve always felt like Elsa’s magical outbursts were much like my emotional outbursts— I try to hold my emotions in, but they build up more and more until I explode, and then I just beat myself up for it and every other mistake I’ve made. Just like Elsa, I have a tendency to be very hard on myself and overanalyze every single thing I do, think, and say. When Jen Lee confirmed on Twitter that "It was important to show anxiety and depression in Elsa," I felt so seen. An openly mentally ill character in a Disney movie? It was a HUGE deal and provided such amazing representation, which is sorely needed because there's so much stigma with mental health. People don't understand depression and anxiety and are so quick to judge, so to have Elsa have those conditions is so very, very important.
Over the past seven years, Elsa has been a huge source of comfort and joy for me, especially during the dark times. "Let it Go" has been a staple song on my life, reminding me to embrace my weirdness and not hold onto the past. "Monster" and "Dangerous to Dream" from the Broadway show are beautiful songs for when my mental illness acts up, because even though they're not the happiest songs, they're still therapeutic to sing. I've often referred to Elsa as my “comfort character," because she's been such a crutch for me for so long. Watching the film, reading fanfiction, drawing/looking at fan art, cosplaying Elsa, etc. was my favorite escape from the real world and from my own head during hard times.
When the sequel was announced, I was beyond ecstatic and had such a hard time waiting for so long, but I knew good stories take time. I ate up every book, comic, or short that was released over the years, because my appetite for Frozen was insatiable, and still is. However, I will be honest, while I did enjoy most of Frozen II, there were some things that left me feeling very let down and even heartbroken, and that is why I’m writing to you. I’d like to clarify that I'm not writing this letter to make demands or hurl insults. I know all of you put your hearts and soul into this film, and I have nothing but respect for everyone who worked on it. This is just a heartfelt, honest letter from a devoted fan who wants to see the Frozen franchise continue to thrive. I want more stories, and I want people to respond to them the way they did the first movie. I want more awards for the creators more good reviews, more success other than profits at the box office. I know I'm not your target audience at 33 years old, but I still hope you will hear my feedback.
I enjoyed most of the movie. The music, animation, scenery, and visual effects were BEAUTIFUL. I liked the implementation of Norse mythology and the lore that was set up, as well as the new characters, even though I feel like they could have used more screen time and development. I liked Anna’s arc, and Olaf’s recaps were hilarious. I adored seeing Elsa interact and connect with animals (like I do), because I always figured she probably didn’t handle them much in her youth, for fear of hurting them. I imagine she would love reptiles, like Bruni, because she probably knows what it's like to be feared and misunderstood. I also enjoyed seeing her heal and grow more confident in her powers, as well as seeing her sassy side. There are honestly a lot of good things to say about the film, and I loved the themes– I just feel like they could have been executed better. I’m so sorry if any of this comes off as rude.
My first issue is with the treatment of Hans, which is probably not something you hear often. (I’ve gotten a lot of judgement and grief from other fans for liking him.) I have always enjoyed him as a character, even though what he did was horrendous and I'm glad he failed. However, I still feel he has a lot of potential as a very dimensional character, and I completely believe he is redeemable. I know the book “A Frozen Heart” by Elizabeth Rudnick isn’t canon, but I feel she did a really good job of fleshing him out. Even from the bits we get on his backstory in the movie, I just feel like he was so desperate to get away from his family that he got carried away, versus just being completely evil and heartless. Whatever his canon backstory may be, it doesn’t excuse what he did, but I still believe he’s not so far gone that he can’t become a better person.
I was so excited when Santino Fontana said in an interview in 2015 that the writers told him they wanted to redeem him, and held onto that excitement for four years. So naturally, during the charades scene in F2, when Elsa called him an "unredeemable monster,” it felt like the writers were mocking those of us who wanted a redemption arc for him. I also don't understand why Elsa danced when she saw the memory of the Duke in Ahtohollan, then waved him off like he was a minor nuisance, but when she saw Hans, she had to break him immediately. Did the Duke not send two men to try to kill her in her ice castle? I feel like the Duke's villainy is often trivialized just to make Hans look worse so that he can be bashed harder. I really feel bad for Santino, because I know he wanted to come back, and frankly, I find it bizarre no one has addressed why he didn’t return, or even mentioned missing him during the press week and premiere interviews. Josh Gad is the only one who has mentioned wanting him back.
Again, I'm not making any demands here, I know you will do with Hans as you please, and I respect that. However, I do hope that you will consider a redemption arc for him again (without killing him, though. Please don’t give him the Kylo Ren/Ben Solo treatment). I know that it would be difficult, since many fans hate him, and it would have to be done slowly to be believable, but I know you have the talent to do it. Villain redemption doesn't happen much in Disney movies, so it could really be a groundbreaking thing to do, and would teach kids so many lessons about forgiveness and not holding grudges, as well as learning from their own mistakes. Kristoff was great because he taught people what non-toxic masculinity looks like, but Hans could take that further and teach them that toxic behavior can be unlearned— that no one is too far gone and that you don't have to be defined by the mistakes of your past. However, it needs to be apparent that it’s not Elsa or Anna’s job to change him— he must do the emotional labor for himself.
My other issue with this film is one that is common amongst the fan base, for many reasons, and that is the ending. This is actually the part of the letter I’ve had to condense the most, because I don’t want to go all Alexander Hamilton on you, so please bear with me. While I certainly understand the motivations behind the decision, to show that love outweighs distance, and the directors were inspired by their children leaving the nest, I still just don’t feel like it was appropriate for this particular franchise (nor was it in-character for Elsa at all). Not only is it a theme that is currently overdone in Disney films (it was also in Ralph Breaks the Internet and Toy Story 4), but it frankly retcons the theme of Frozen. The entire first movie was about reuniting sisters after thirteen years of separation, and then this one just goes to extreme lengths to separate them again. There are so many other ways you could have had the sisters gain some independence and follow new paths without turning Elsa into a nature spirit that lives in faraway woods with people she’s literally known for a day. (Anna can’t marry a man she just met, so why can Elsa live with people she just met?) She didn’t need a new home or personality to grow.
Sure, we’re told that the sisters keep in touch and visit, but we’re not shown. The sisters are still hundreds of miles apart in the last shot, which is what sticks in everyone’s minds. Also, shouldn’t Elsa and the Northuldra have been at the statue ceremony celebrating the coming together of the two lands? Especially since the statue is of Elsa's parents, so why wasn't she there? Even more painful is the fact that the books and magazine comics set after Frozen 2 (most of which have only been released in Europe and Asia) mostly feature Anna, Kristoff, Matthias, and Olaf. Elsa is only in a couple of them, and is barely mentioned in the ones she’s not in. It feels like she’s just a secondary character now, only coming in for occasional cameos, while the focus shifts on Anna and co. This franchise is supposed to be about the sisters being together, not one sister in Arendelle while the other is nowhere to be seen.
Many kids, from what I've heard, are also upset about the ending. Not only have I heard many stories of kids sobbing in theaters, but when I cosplayed Elsa at Katsucon in February 2020, I had a little boy who kept asking me why I "ran away from Anna again." It broke my heart and the only thing that made him stop asking was to tell him I was moving back home, but still visiting the forest. I felt so sad for him. My friend also cosplayed Elsa at a costume party and her friend’s kid started crying about Elsa leaving. I also read that the Elsa and Anna face characters in the Disney parks get asked a lot about the ending too, and Elsa has to say that she visits Arendelle every day to comfort them. Face characters shouldn’t have to comfort kids about the ending of the film their characters are in.
I also don't understand why it was necessary for Elsa to stay in the woods, especially if she can hear the spirits calling to her in Arendelle, and that the Nokk allows her to travel quickly between the two lands. Why couldn't she bring the Nokk and Bruni back to Arendelle with her, and just visit the forest? (Gale and the Rock Giants could come and go as they please.) Couldn’t she have gotten her own place on the fjord, if she didn't want to live in the castle? I understand that the purpose of the ending was to allow Elsa to be free and find her own place in the world, but I feel like giving her a position of divinity and having her move into the forest with people she just met is much too drastic of a stretch, like taking a yard of tape when you only need an inch.
Elsa living in the forest also, unfortunately, sends the unintentional message that people who are different, introverted, mentally ill, etc., like Elsa and myself, don't belong in modern society or with our families, and are better off living away from them (not that indigenous culture is inferior– it's just different). I know that's certainly not the message you meant to send, but it still comes off that way. As someone with a mental illness and relates to Elsa so much, I felt so alienated by the ending.
Of course, the part of it that bothers me most is Elsa's characterization during the entire scene. It feels like everything about her was completely changed to make her fit the ending (which I know was written first.) There was no indication in any short, comic, book, etc. that showed us she was still holding herself back or was unhappy in Arendelle. (Anna literally sings at the end of the Broadway show, “Elsa, you’re free!”) It feels like the first film told us, "Elsa learned to let go of her fears and embrace her true self and powers, and still found belonging with her kingdom and family,” and then the second film tells us, "But wait! That's not who Elsa *really* is, this is her TRUE TRUE self, and now she belongs in the magic forest because of her magic! It’s her destiny!” It’s like her powers have become her entire personality instead of a part of her. I feel like the Elsa I’ve known, loved, and clung to for the past seven years is gone. Of course, I expect her to evolve and grow, but this doesn’t feel consistent with her character. Growth and maturity don’t change your core personality like that. A lot of people, including myself, feel more disconnected from her than ever, because she feels like this unrelatable Christ-like figure on a pedestal, instead of a human with magical powers. She doesn't feel like she's on our plane anymore.
Even the way she talks and carries herself is completely different. She talks so slowly at the end, like an all-knowing goddess as she tells Anna all that she’s learned, and it’s just unsettling. She also doesn’t seem to make her own choices or learn from any of her mistakes. Not only did she tell Anna, "The spirits decided Arendelle should stand with you," which is deus-ex-machina (divine intervention) in a nutshell, but when Honeymaren tells her, "You belong up here!" she just agrees immediately without a second thought. I do like her stepping down as queen, but it should have been presented as her choice, not just because the spirits and the memory of Idunna told her she was fated to be something else all along. (Also, if the issue in the beginning was about her wanting to choose her own path and do more than just be queen, then how is another predetermined fate any better? She's not making her own choices, she's just a vessel at this point for the spirits’ agenda, which takes away her agency.) The trailers before the movie came out made it sound like the story was going to be about Elsa finding a middle ground between her humanity and her powers, but instead it was about how she needed to go too far into her magic because she’s “the chosen one.”
I know it’s just a movie and I shouldn’t be this distraught over it, especially a year and a half later. I actually started therapy the weekend after the movie came out because I knew that my reaction was indicative of much larger problems. While I have been working on those problems and have been doing better, I still feel disconnected from Elsa, and it still hurts. I miss her. She and the other characters have been there for me over the past seven years when real people couldn’t be bothered, and now I feel like my favorites have been ripped away. Again, I am not here to tell you what to do with your movies, nor are you responsible for my mental health, but I still hope you understand and will consider my feedback.
If there are more Frozen stories (I personally would like a Disney+ series, which would allow for more content and development than a movie), I hope that not only does Hans get a redemption arc (and belonging/friendship with the other characters) as I previously stated, but that I get my relatable, flawed, human Elsa back. I hope she’ll move back to Arendelle (with at least Bruni and the Nokk), but of course, still visit the forest frequently and stay close with the Northuldra. She and Anna should definitely explore their heritage more, and I really would love to learn more about the Northuldra characters. I really hope to see a story about her learning to balance her magic with her humanity, to find that middle ground. To have this “Yes, I have great power, but I’m still human” lightbulb moment. I basically just want exploration of the characters as humans, with their strengths and weaknesses, with their good days and the bad, and how they tackle things together, not just by sending letters via Gale Mail. (Especially with the pandemic still happening, seeing these sisters physically together would really lift some spirits. There are enough long-distance sisterhoods in real life, we don’t need them in our fairy tales.)
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this still-too-long letter. (I promise, I tried so hard to keep it under three pages, but I failed.) I know that a woman my age should not be this invested in a Disney movie, and you may even be thinking, “This lady is crazy!” (You wouldn’t be wrong.) I also know you’re going to do with the franchise and the characters what you see fit— again, I don’t expect you to cater to me or my wishes. I just love your characters and your world so much and I hate how upset Frozen II makes me. I feel like the ending, as well as the silence from the creators of the film, have just left us fans hanging. I don’t want you to hear the criticism and think, “Oh, well I guess people are sick of Frozen, let’s not touch it again.” I want more Frozen, I need more Frozen. Again, I’m so sorry if I sound rude or demanding. I really hope to see more of my beloved sisters and their friends (including a redeemed prince) very soon. I hope to feel everything good that the first film made me feel. Thank you again for listening to me. I wish you all the very best.
Your Loyal Fan,
Laura

Imma just post this cause I need to get this off my chest lmao
But I’m sure the fandom is well aware of the Collector Luz theory, and how the fandom became torn with either wanting it to happen or not wanting it to happen
and others have made different theories about how it may not even be Luz who gets possessed by the Collector and speculates that it may be Hunter, or Amity, or even Belos
HOWEVER,
I truly think it actually will be Luz who gets either possessed or makes a deal with the collector and here’s why. It’s literally the tiniest detail, but I’ve been noticing it in almost every artwork Dana has posted on Twitter.
This is gonna be a looong post... orz It mainly pictures, but its still looong
Tumblr media
So, we know that this what the Collector looks like and Dana herself drew that during a stream, and here’s the tiny detail that makes me believe that Luz is going to be possessed/ makes a deal w/ the Collector
Tumblr media
This. This right here that little hair poking out.
And you’re probably wondering how that would indicate Luz being possessed, and I’m glad you asked~!
So, I have gathered more like collected hahaaa ill see myself out all the artwork that Dana posted on Twitter that had the same hair poking out, and while I was collecting (heh), Amity, nor Hunter had the same hair poking out, only Luz had it...

There’s no hair popping out I just thought that her hair in this pic was very similar to the Collectors

And to make it worse, look

Dana also drew it on Marcy
And most of us know what happened to her...

It also doesn’t help that Dana said that Marcy is Luz’s favorite character..

Regarding the von Karma theory: for what it's worth, I didn't agree with everything but thought it was good. Him suffering from an illness would've explain a lot of the behavior we see in-game. I don't understand why they keep calling you an apologist, though? Like, you never downplayed his actions once so that makes no sense??
i'm just obsessed with knowing why so many people are fixated on this one thing i said in passing? like in my video i spend a good long while talking about restorative justice, root causes of violence and crime, and why i personally like to dissect characters and see if i can puzzle out why they do horrible things. i wrote extensively on things i think could have contributed, how i think he got to that point, and why i think he did what he did. and then when i am like 'lol and imagine lead poisoning' it is presented, in no uncertain terms, as something a little more lighthearted and silly, because literally all it is is a headcanon that i thought about errantly one day and thought 'haha, that'd be funny and thematically beautiful, i like that' i'm not invested in it nor do i even really view it as ~the explanation~ it's literally just a headcanon i like? it exists on the same level as like, if i were to hc his favourite food or that he likes to play golf in his spare time. it is just a headcanon. that i can take or leave. i do not feel strongly about it, nor does it often come up when i am discussing manfred von karma, why i like him, why i think he did all the shit he did, etc.
and yet everyone on twitter is OBSESSED with it? and now people are MAINTAGGING it, vagueblogging me where i can see it?
like, of course i know what's actually going on here: i presented a take that was eloquently phrased and well-sourced, and it's pissing off people who prefer to discourse in 240 characters with snappy retorts, so they are focusing on a headcanon that takes up .1% of my video because it's easy to take out of context and laugh at. but i want them to try and tell me why that isn't the case. i wanna hear them try and explain this dumb shit.
even calling it a "theory" like you did in this ask is a little much for me. i don't care that much about it! it's not important and i don't think it's canon, it's literally just a headcanon i have. that's all. i wish people would stop giving it more weight than it has and obsessing over it, who the fuck cares, i just want to make posts about my silly murder blorbo in peace.
anyways, idk why people are calling me an apologist/defender either! i keep asking them to point out where i did that but no one ever answers me, it's soooo curious that!
i think people are just very uncomfortable with the idea of villains being human beings. they want them to be some unnatural other who were born innately evil, have some "abuser" disease (see: the way people use terms like narcissist and s*cio/psychopath) etc. the fact of the matter is that people who do bad things are just humans who have been pushed via a multitude of internal and external factors to their lowest and are in need of support and rehabilitation and to take AWAY those factors and/or help them heal from them.
but, as i said in my video, new-age puritans on tumblr and twitter are obsessed with "punishing" and othering. they will not acknowledge that they, too, could become violent and monstrous if given the circumstances, and they believe anyone who is so unlucky deserves to be hurt more because of it.
it's so fucking irritating to have to rehash it. i like it when manfred von karma is being a nice awkward vampire dad and giving his daughter pancakes. i also like it when he is looking like a possessed turkey vulture fucking pointing a pistol at all his problems and tasing a child for funsies. i think these things coexist, and here is how i think they coexist. WHY ARE PEOPLE SO MAD AND WHY ARE THEY SO INSISTENT ON PUTTING WORDS IN MY MOUTH? THE VIDEO IS AN HOUR LONG I DON'T THINK I COULD'VE BEEN MORE CLEAR AND NUANCED???

Let me just conclude TR chapter 265 right now so that I don’t have to suddenly postponed it even longer.
[Relating to the post that I just reblogged] For me, I saw some people said Wakui is “mischaracterizing” Mikey like ??? Idk why this fandom acting like they didn’t beg for Mikey’s POV for months but when Wakui gave them exactly what they wanted, suddenly it’s false and not true? I thought we were collectively agreed that Mikey has always been the antagonist since Day 1 yet here we are — The way Mikey approaching Kisaki, personally asked him to stay by his side and did whatever it takes to bring Toman on top (mind you, he even stated that he didn’t care whatever methods Kisaki used), this could’ve been the cause of what happened in the first future timeline before Takemichi was gifted with time leaping ability and changed everything. The rest that happened, you don’t need to be told about them.
All I am saying is that, if you’re gonna talk about “not boxing a character into one category and acting like other characters aren’t as bad” then please imply the same thing with Mikey. Just because he has finally realized what Kisaki has done (it took BD arc where Kisaki lured Shiba family into his plan) and kicked him out doesn’t mean he’s not responsible for the events that he was indirectly contributed into. Some of yall always recycling these two takes: “He’s mentally ill” and “just a 15 years old kid who made a bad decision”. Fact is, none of these can still justify anything Mikey did and it’s completely fine to acknowledge that, I promise you. I don’t hate him but I despise his actions and the people who desperately wanting to make it seems that Mikey CAN DO NO WRONG because they have no ability to acknowledge those. It’s always “don’t fit them into angel or devil box cuz they can’t” when people rightfully judge Mikey. From twitter to tumblr, some of yall never cease to surprise me at all.
To finalize this, it’s okay to acknowledge two things: Kisaki had done more than enough damages to a lot of people including the innocent ones like Hina and Emma, meanwhile Mikey was the original driving force of his actions by his selfish desire; “Strength alone wasn’t enough. All I need is darkness.” Since Kisaki had already received his well-deserved punishment in Tenjiku arc, I’m looking forward to Mikey’s soon.
Btw I’m also looking forward to know more about Takemichi in Mikey’s POV soon ^^
