There was nothing to be seen, but the water-filled clouds of grey heavily bobbing about outside of your glass pane windows. Your flower shop was awfully dreary despite the freshly arranged bouquets of sunflowers and baby’s breath lining the clay pots of the shelves. (It was almost as if the bright, yellow daffodils mocked your mood.) There were air plants hung above Pollen, your Steenee, sitting peacefully on a wooden stool. Your rowlet, Bamboo, snoozed peacefully all a while perched on a bonsai tree much too small for him. You exhaled unsatisfied at the few customers who came in and out in a rush to avoid the inevitable drench they’d soon be soaked in. You swiveled your neck in careful circles to relieve the aching pain of leaning forward on the counter with your chin in hand. “Stee?” Pollen approached you worried, knowing your habits of stress, and tugged at your green apron. “Hmm?” You looked down at her with tired eyes. “You want a little treat for your hard work today?” You pulled out a cookie from your apron that resembled Pollen’s little face. Despite the slow business, you knew that she needed a little sweetness. Pollen shook her head, “Stee!” She pointed at the wooden stool you made for her when she was just a Bounsweet, implying for you to take a seat. You managed to escape a giggle, “Oh Pollen, you know I can’t fit there-” A sudden rush of water was heard outside, another downpour. Your breath hitched, “I forgot to bring in the bouquets inside!” “Steenee!” Pollen matched my tone and began to run towards the glass door. “No Pollen! Stay here, I don’t want you getting sick! I’ll tell you what, after I bring in the flowers, I’ll whip up some Tapu Koko from Mallow.” I offered, knowing that she could never refuse a comfy cup of hot chocolate from my cousin. She whined, but agreed. You quickly picked up your feet and left faster than a Rapidash. “Oh shi-” You slammed into a tall pole… Oh, no. It was a person! They were completely drenched, so would you if you stayed out here any longer. You braced yourself for the hard concrete impact, but suddenly felt a tug on your arm. Your face felt the stranger’s drenched hoodie upon your cheek and it smelled weirdly of oranges. You pulled away to see a bright smile that seemed to attract the sunflowers from the flower shop. A dust of pink covered your cheeks from embarrassment or was it from the stranger’s gentle blue eyes? It was hard to see his full face due to the overcasting weather and the hoodie that hugged his head. You wiped your cheek in an attempt to dry it, but the action just deepened your blush when you realized that you’d be drenched from the rain anyway. “I- I’m sorry mister! I was in such a hurry to bring my bouquets in, I didn’t see you there,” You stepped back and subconsciously looked down at your feet. “Hey, don’t worry about it Miss Bloom! Could've told me you needed to bring these in,” He pulled down on his hoodie attempting to keep his face dry. “Besides, guess my dessert seemed to have given you a sweet kiss on the cheek!” Your chest warmed up at his nickname for you. But you waved it off. “You’re eating a popsicle in this weather?” You exhaled good-heartedly, realizing that the cold treat was what touched your cheek earlier. “Let me toss it for you and pay you back.” He successfully aimed the orange-flavored popsicle into the trash a few feet away. “Nah! It’s all good, but gimme a helping hand and open the door for me will you, Miss Bloom? Usually, I’m the one opening doors for beauties like you, but it seems we’re in a bit of a different situation at the moment.” You almost slipped when you heard his comment. It was hard to compose yourself because there was never someone this upfront to you, even back in your home region, Alola.

The stranger brought in the heavy pots of flower bouquets much faster than you could’ve managed.

“Oh man! Who knew that I could break a sweat with weather like this!” He squeezed his eyes shut and exhaled dramatically.

You carefully closed the glass door behind. You stood there too guilty to come any closer to him. Chewing your lip, “I’m really sorry I got you caught up in this.”

“Like I said Miss Bloom, it’s no biggie,” He pulled down his hoodie further down his eyes. “But, I should really get going-”

“Already?” You realized the implication.The stranger giggled to himself. “I- I mean… The least I could do is toss your hoodie in a dryer and give you a hot drink. I don’t think the storm would let down anytime soon” You smiled sheepishly. “But, I understand if you have to go.”

He knew that he couldn’t refuse because it would just be too unkind to turn down a good-hearted act in return for his help.

“Sure Miss Bloom, anything to sprout a smile from you.” The stranger accepted your invitation.
