Sneaking out of the castle during the night to take the little siblings to see shooting stars and fireflies, ending up falling asleep there on a blanket
Sorry for the delay and ..everything else 🖤
Usually escaping from the castle is an easy task. You just need to want to do it and that's it.
But when your siblings are with you it seems like an impossible mission even if you can hear the guards from a distance and know how to avoid them. Your siblings seem so excited to escape that they forget that you can get caught and get into trouble.
"I'll warn you just one more time," you whisper to them in a tone of authority. "One more noise and we'll get back from here!"
Hagne opens her mouth but Briallen interrupts her by covering her mouth with her hand.
"We'll behave," she promises. "Pleeease"
Her puppy eyes are enough to convince you.
Miraculously, you manage to reach the private garden - near the edge of the forest. It's a beautiful night - the sky full of stars and the bright moon in the background.
You open the blanket you had picked up in your room and spread it out on the grass, your siblings snuggling on top of it as you look around.
There are no guards around for now. Their next patrol will still take time - So you'll have enough time to see the shooting stars.
Then, you notice - your siblings are quiet. Too quiet, and it doesn't take long for you to figure out why.
As you searched for guards a group of fireflies had begun to fly in the air around you, your siblings stared at them in wonder - eyes wide with amazement
Slowly, trying not to scare the fireflies, you lie on the blanket also watching the little lives dance around you.
"There!" Philon screams, suddenly, making even you jump. He points to the sky where a shooting star crosses the sky quickly — and soon after it others follow. "Quick, let's make a wish."
"Cookies!" Briallen exclaims.
"Toys!" Theron continues following his sister's example.
"More time to play," Hagne says as Philon groans.
"You must not speak your wish!"
"Ah" their disappointed chorus makes you want to comfort them automatically.
"Hey, there's more shooting stars coming" you reassure them. "Just wait okay?"
They relax, trusting in your words and wisdom as their elder sibling.
They look up at the sky again with anticipation.
You smile watching them and start to relax too.
You don't know how much time passes.
But your eyes become heavy
"Right, let's go," you muttered as you started to get up only to realize you're stuck between Hagne and Philon. Both snuggled into you just as Theron and Briallen are snuggled into them.
All four asleep.
You sigh. Okay... Maybe you should let them nap for a few minutes before waking them up.
Just a few minutes
Not long after, one of the guards responsible for patrolling the place suddenly stops to see the Queen's children sleeping on top of a blanket in the middle of the private garden.
"Uh" she looks around unsure of what to do and then shrugs.
Oh, no. No. No. She's not going to be the only one who..
She begins to walk away silently but quickly.
"Nothing strange to see here"

THE PHILON AWARDS ARE BACK!
KiScon is honoured to announce the relaunch of the Philon Awards. Established by Jenna Sinclair and Shelley Butler in 1997, they were an annual event organised by The K/S Press to honour outstanding authors and artists in K/S fandom. With the permission and support of Jenna and Shelley, KiScon is resuming this beautiful tradition.
There are 8 categories:
Short fic (word count under 10K)
Long fic (word count 10K-50K)
Novella/novel (word count over 50K)
Podfic
Traditional Art
Digital Art
Poetry
Zines
For each category the voters will determine a Gold (first place) and a Silver (second place) winner.
Rules
Nominating and Voting:
Nominations are open until 31 August, 2023. Each fan can nominate up to 3 works per category, but you cannot nominate the same work twice.
For a work to make it onto the voting ballot, it needs at least 3 nominations. Before we add it to the ballot, we will get in touch with the creator to ask whether they are fine with this!
Voting is open from 10 September to 1 November, 2023.
The winners will be announced during KiScon 2023. Each winner will receive a certificate and a small prize.
Nominating and voting both take place via Google Forms, and you need to be logged in in order to submit the form; this ensures that people do not nominate or vote multiple times for the same work. If we suspect sockpuppet activity, we will get in touch for clarification. We keep the nomination and voting process completely confidential! Only the KiScon concom will see the submitted forms.
You can submit the nominations form only once, but you can edit your responses if you need to add or change something (just follow the link in the email you receive after submitting the form). Please make sure to include every fanwork you want to see on the shortlist. You cannot edit your responses after nominations have closed.
Fanworks:
The work must focus on the pairing Kirk/Spock or Kirk & Spock. Slash (romantic and/or sexual relationship) and gen (friendship) are equally eligible. If a fic includes Kirk and/or Spock in relationships with other characters, be they canonical or original, this does not disqualify the work for the Philon Awards, as long as the focus is clearly on Kirk and Spock's relationship.
Art must feature Kirk or Spock or both of them; additional characters in the artwork are allowed, but no depiction of Kirk/Other or Spock/Other.
All universes are welcome: TOS (series and movies), TAS, and reboot, Discovery and Strange New Worlds. AUs and mirror universe are equally allowed. Crossovers between different Trek franchises or between Trek and other media are permitted, as long as Kirk and Spock are the work’s main characters.
RPF works (e.g. Shatnoy) are not eligible.
All ratings and genres are allowed. If a work among your nominations includes strong elements that would merit a warning on the AO3 (e.g. rape, major character death etc.), we'd appreciate a heads-up on the nominations form, so that we can make sure to include the warning on the shortlist.
The work must be complete. It can be part of a series, but the work itself must not be a WIP (missing chapters or a draft/unfinished sketch).
The work must have been created and published (print or online) after KiScon 2022. So everything from 7 November 2022 onwards until the end of the nomination phase (31 August 2023) is eligible. Reprints or uploads of earlier works (e.g. a fic you wrote and published a few years ago and uploaded to the AO3 only recently) cannot take part in this contest.
For podfic the creation/publication date of the actual podfic counts, not of the written fic that inspired it.
AI-generated fic is NOT allowed.
Traditional art means that it was hand-drawn or hand-painted; scanning or photographing the finished work in order to publish it online is allowed, of course.
With digital art, we mean art that was created by a fan artist directly on a tablet or computer, or art that started out as hand-drawn and underwent significant digital alterations in the next steps. We do NOT allow AI-generated art! Manips based on still images or photos of the actors are not eligible in this contest.
Zines: Both e-zines and print zines published between 7 November 2022 and 31 August 2023 are eligible.
Last but not least: these awards are meant to be fun and a celebration of the K/S fandom. The shortlist will double as lovely rec list! We get to talk about our faves and let the creators know that we love their works.
You can fill in the nominations form embedded on the KiScon website, or (if your device does not display it properly) you can find it directly at this link.

Madame Yevonde :: Lady Bridget Poulett as 'Arethusa'. Vivex colour print, 1935 | NPG Given by Madame Yevonde (Yevonde Philone Middleton (née Cumbers)), 1971
view on wordPress
Arethusa was a wood nymph from Elis, associated with the goddess Artemis. Pursued relentlessly by the river-god Alpheus, Arethusa begged for Artemis's help in escaping his attentions. The goddess opened up a passage under the sea which enabled Arethusa to emerge as a spring in Syracuse, on the island of Ortygia (Sicily) - hence the seaweed in Yevonde's sitter's hair. "Zeus himself, the central character in Hesiod’s Theogony, bears some of the most easily recognizable Northwest Semitic features, in addition to those of the Indo-European Sky God inherited by the Greeks. It is not necessary, therefore, to discuss them at length. It suffices to recall that the Canaanite Storm God Baal and the homologous Greek god share a similar position in the succession of kings in Heaven, as well as the position of the youngest son. They both reign from a palace on a northern mountain (Olympos, Zapanu/Zaphon), and they wield thunder as their distinctive weapon. As with his Near Eastern counterparts, thunder, lightning, and the thunderbolt were the “missiles/shafts of great Zeus.” The position of his sister and principal consort Hera is like that of Anat, Baal’s sister and partner (though not consort). For some, this coupling “violates the incest taboo” in Greek myth but allows Hera to remain an “equal” partner according to her right of birth, as the daughter of Kronos. In Il. 4.59 she is the oldest daughter, in Il. 16.432,18.352 she is called “sister and wife” and in Hesiod Th. 454 she is the youngest daughter of Kronos, exactly as Zeus is the last son.
The list of similarities between Zeus and the different manifestations of the Canaanite god (either Baal or El or Yahweh in the later Hebrew theology) is long and has been the subject of much discussion by classicists, Semitists, and biblical scholars. Perhaps most interesting are the parallels noticeable at the level of their epithets, such as Zeus the “cloud-gatherer” (nephelegereta)or “lightener” (asteropetes), and the frequent characterization of Baal in Ugaritic poetry as the “cloud-rider” (rkb ʿrpt). Other epithets of the Northwest Semitic Storm God Adad (Haddad) are preserved in Akkadian hymns, such as “lord of lightning” or “establisher of clouds.” …
Zeus’ “high-in-the-Sky” position and Sky-nature are reflected in other epithets such as hypatos and hypsistos. At the same time, similar divine epithets meaning “the high one” (eli, elyon, and ram) are very common in Northwest Semitic religious texts, accompanying several principal divinities. For instance, this epithet is used in the Ugaritic epic for Baal, and different forms of the adjective are attested in Aramaic, as well as in the Hebrew Bible accompanying El, Yahweh, and Elohim. … The association of the Storm God in Syro-Palestine with the bull as a symbol of fertility is also present in the various mythological narratives involving Zeus, most clearly in the famous motif of Zeus’ kidnapping the Phoenician princess Europa and carrying her on his back after taking the shape of a bull.
The final fight of Zeus with Typhon (Th. 820-880) has also been compared to the fight between Baal and Yam (the Sea) in the Ugaritic Baal Cycle and to that between Demarous and Pontos (the Sea) in Philon’s Phoenician History (P.E. 1.10.28). As mentioned earlier, the Storm God’s struggle with a monster also (albeit more distantly) resembles the clash between the Hurrian Weather God Teshub and the monsters Ullikummi, Illuyanka, and Hedammu. The figure of Typhon in Hesiod can in fact be seen as a Greek version of a “cosmic rebel” repeatedly reimagined with different characteristics in the specific versions, who endangers the Weather God’s power and generally has both marine and chthonic features. The Levantine and Greek adversaries probably have more than a merely thematic resonance, as the very name of Typhon might have a Semitic origin. It has hypothetically but quite convincingly been associated with the Semitic name Zaphon. Mount Zaphon (Ugaritic Zapunu or Zapanu) is a central point of reference in the geography and the religion of Ugarit. Known by Greeks and Romans as Kasion oros/ mons Casius (today Jebel al-Aqra), this peak on the north coast of Syria (south of the Orontes River) was also mentioned in Hurrian-Hittite myths. The mountain occupies a central spot in both the fight between Ullikummi and Teshub (as Mount Hazzi) and in the Ugaritic Baal Cycle. In the Ugaritic epic, the fight against Yam (the Sea) is not described as taking place on the mountain, but the celebration of Baal’s victory is, as it is the god’s abode overlooking the Mediterranean: “With sweet voice the hero sings / over Baalu on the summit / of Sapan (= Zaphon).” Much later, Apollodoros locates the cosmic fight with Typhon on Mons Casius precisely, which indicates that the link between Typhon and Zaphon had persisted, even though the name known to Hellenistic authors was the Greek, not the Semitic one."

okay a few OC questions:
who is most likely to get so drunk they dont recognize their partner and is INSISTENT on sleeping on the couch cus "they have a partner and arent a cheater"
who is most likely to just. decide to go on a vacation the next day and just go. like full on, get on a random flight or train and just see where the hell they end up
who brings a paper map on a road trip (bonus points if its like 30+ years out of date)
who is most likely to steal a pigeon of the streets and raise it and keep it as a pet
also I hope you and your family get better soon! I know a lot of people are currently sick (myself included, though the worst has passed for me luckily). take your rest, only do the bare minimum you need to and dont let anybody shame you into doing more they can shove a zucchini up their ass so they have to go to the ER to get it fished out. cheers 🫡✨
who is most likely to get so drunk they dont recognize their partner and is INSISTENT on sleeping on the couch cus "they have a partner and arent a cheater"
oh boy a lot of them. even some of the ones in open relationships because they'd still want to make sure their partner(s) are okay with it.
so in order i've posted their stories (not including reader characters):
LLTQ's First Mate, Hulo (if he could get drunk), Willow, David (B would laugh so hard she'd cry), Charis, Lysosi, Tasha, Philon, Nicole, Ren, Hector, Adrian, Gage (robot equivalent of drunk idk), Ahlex, Serena, Marble, Button, Bic, Malak, Tuq (Moura would drag him into bed anyway (just to sleep) bc she can't sleep without cuddles), Moura, all of the werewolf boys, Arro (he'd 100% get off on it if you took advantage of him anyway), Viktor, and Nina.
who is most likely to just. decide to go on a vacation the next day and just go. like full on, get on a random flight or train and just see where the hell they end up
Willow, Adrian, Candi, Chelle, and Colovan (not without at least 2 of his boys).
who brings a paper map on a road trip (bonus points if its like 30+ years out of date)
brings a paper map: Willow, Marius, Nicole, Hector, Ahlex, Gage (picked up the habit from Ahlex), Jason, Marble, Tuq (never gets to use it because Moura somehow always knows where they are and how to get where they're going), and Nina.
brings a hilariously outdated paper map: Hulo and Malak (updates it as he goes, delighted to find new things and dejected when something he wanted to see is already gone).
who is most likely to steal a pigeon of the streets and raise it and keep it as a pet
just because: Willow, Malak (technically Bic caught it to eat but Malak completely misread the situation and now Bic can't eat it bc his husband is already doting over his lunch), Noah
only if it's visibly sick/injured bc they can't stand to see an animal suffer: Nicole, Hector, Gage, Echo, Tuq, Beau, and Silvain.
thank you! i hope you feel better soon as well. thankfully my husband came home early to take care of us, so he was able to help and has been letting me rest (because the kiddo sure isn't letting a little bug slow them down no sir lol).
