I loved my uncle’s springer spaniels growing up. they hunted pheasants with him
I’ve always found the relationship between people and working dogs amazing. somehow we learned to communicate such complex things between two different species???
it’s amazing how much some dogs can understand
(not my dog though. we wanted a dumb dog and we got one. it means he’s slow to learn new things but he’s also unlikely to get in trouble. it took him a couple weeks to understand stairs. it took him at least six months to learn ‘sit’ despite regular repetition. he’s small and lazy and food motivated and sweet and perfect for us)
he likes sleeping between two dog beds. you’d think a jack russell/chihuahua would be a terrible mix but he’s pretty chill

lily be the kind of vampire to awkwardly flirt her way into acquiring your blood type and barty be the kind of shithead to laugh and mock her for it while she actively has her fangs inside him
lily as a vampire is a wonderful concept because i have trouble imagining her out of the sunshine. i think she still looks as lively & red-blooded & sunkissed as the farmers daughter she was before getting turned and it’s very dangerous.
vampire!regulus is my favorite though… that man is allergic to three different blood types and will despondently sigh after sucking someone dry because now he has a rash. he got turned in 1446 after his monastery gave shelter to a dark & mysterious stranger (he was the ambiguously homosexual spare son sacked off to go illuminate manuscripts) and he specifically was bitten because he was the only monk bitchy enough to verbally be like “hey maybe we should not give shelter to this guy his vibes are fucking terrible”. only thing he ever enjoyed in his undead life was living to see high collars & male corsets come into fashion and he’s still sopping around moping about how short-lived it was like a century later

“Pheasant Shooting in Western Ontario,” Kingston Whig-Standard. October 29, 1932. Page 1.
----
Guns cracked over a 170-miles front in Ontario, October 28, as a two-day pheasant hunt was officially started. This fair Diana shows how it’s done. She's Ruth Yerzy.
[AL: The Ontario pheasant hunt in 1932 was particularly controversial, for a number of reasons. The Ontario government was obviously attempting to limit the hunt to preserve animal numbers, and were draconian against out of season hunters - many of whom were poor men and women during the Depression who desperately needed food. But the hunt itself was accompanied by violence between game wardens and hunters, and between small town and rural locals and the rich tourist hunters, many from Toronto, Hamilton, and other urban centres, who swarmed rural areas, caused a ruckus, and were accused of overhunting. This photo definitely showcases one of the tourist hunters, who were understandably some of the least willing to accede to pheasant quotas during the days of the hunt itself, even when they might support penalizing poachers out of season. This was also one of the first years it was regulated on Pelee Island especially - a popular destination that really concentrated the conflicts here.]

TexasRedLabradors Vicky
The previous post I gave her a release command and she went in to flush the bird. This post Vicky was on point and because I didn’t release her she stayed on point as I walked in and got the bird.
Vicky on point.
