TimeFire with the stinkiest little smile~! I left this scan relatively unadjusted because I thought the streaky-ness of the ink on the helmet looks pretty cool!
And the version before I added the red and splatter:

My brain: no one loves you and there's nothing to live for and you fucked up today lol
Me: actually I have many things to live for let's start with the good people in my life;
My best friend Lauren who I met in 6th grade and is literally one of the highlights of my life she's been through so much with me
My boyfriend Felix whom I love so much and I trust with all my heart and who supports me through everything no matter what
My friend Erica who I also met in 6th grade and whom I've had fun times with and is just a good friend overall
My friend Paulina who is funny to hang out with and really sweet and kind sometimes
My friend Esme who's really funny but also kind and will listen to you when needed
My friend Fabi who's smart with like everything and sophisticated but also sweet and understanding and bought me a Maki chain!!!
My friend Raisa who is my number one supporter in my relationships and who's so funny
My friend Alana who I'm starting to know better who's funny and smart and mature
My friend Kaiden who got me into Love Live and is lowkey dumb but has big heart energy
My friend Rocky who's a bit brutally honest but still amazing and really loving
My friend Matt who is so intelligent and helps me see the logic in life while also being sweet
My friend Alaina who's very funny and easy to talk to
My friends in the CR group chat I made on discord y'all are so funny and lighten up my day honestly like I love talking to y'all
My little sister who is so loving and caring and intelligent and has a very big heart for someone so young
My mutuals on here whom I don't talk to a lot but are amazing people that I'm glad to know and follow
The people who read my fanfiction, giving it comments and kudos y'all rock
And of course brain it isn't JUST good people in my life I live for I also have
Animals of all shapes and sizes!! Literally like why be sad when you can remember that fluffy cows and swimming iguanas and moths and butterflies and BIRDS exist!!!
Bodies of water like lakes and rivers and streams they're pretty and calming and relaxing to look at
All of the interests I have like Love Live and Cookie Run and Gorillaz and all the books that warmed your heart and movies that made you think and songs that changed your life !!m
Markers and crayons and pens and stationary!! Cute stationary!!
Flannels!!!! Hawaiian Shirts!!!! Cute gay clothing!!!
Being LGBT in general and being in a community about love and inspiration and being yourself
Tan France!! Is!! In!! This!! World!! And all the other Queer Eye guys!! They're here to help too man!! They wouldn't want you being sad!!
There are so many things coming out like the new Ari and Dante sequel and new animated movies that are going to be amazing and fun
Reminder that Rupphire and Korrasami are canon you're welcome
Yoshiko?? Exists?? The most amazing and perfect girl like yes
So brain you're stupid and I have a lot to live for and I shouldn't fret about past mistakes when I'm growing as a person and learning how to be better. People can grow and change and awknoledging and speaking out about your mistakes rather than mourn them forever will always make you a more intelligent and healthy person. People make mistakes but what defines us is what we do with them and how we react to them. By learning what my mistake was and attempting to fix it already I'm a good person who's only trying to help everyone in the best way.
Anyway I'm learning how to love myself and I think this post helped a lot ❤️

CH11-Scrolls and the Bandit
Yeah I know I haven't updated in a month. Things have been rough for me in irl so I really couldn't focus on this, or for that matter anything really. I hope this chapter was good enough for that month break. I actually split this chapter into two for convenience and this is the first part(duh). See ya later...
"Your Highness a seagull has arrived with a scroll." the soldier said standing tall holding his spear in his hand. A tall skinny man, who was polishing his wonderful sword stopped his motion abruptly turning around, "Bring me to it.", the soldier bowed, turning around directing the King to its location from the King's quarters on the ship. Placing the sword in its sheath he followed the soldier moving swiftly across the ship. The ship rocked slightly due to the waves but the King had grown used to it. He had been sailing the seas for months now, his daughter sitting on the throne in his absence. Not only would he be able to look at his other colonies he would be able to give his daughter practice on running the kingdom.
As the King passed by the soldiers, ship mates and maids who were present on the way bowed; he was unlike his daughter who really didn't care about these formalities. On starboard, there was a place concentrated with soldiers. The soldier screamed an order to the others and they all stood in a two lines facing each other, creating a path for the King to access the bird, with a loud clank as they slammed the butts of the spears on to the deck. On the other end was the seagull carrying a scroll in its mouth. It seemed to be unfazed by the amount of people and noise. "Here your highness, is the bird."
As if the path was made for it, the bird him hopped down the path the soldiers had formed, dropped the scroll in front of the King and flew away. The scroll looked like it went through a lot, there was splotches of sea water on it making some parts soggy, some seaweed hanging around and torn in some places. It really didn't look like a scroll.
The soldier bent down to pick it up but was stopped by the King himself. He picked it up, cringing as he did so. It looked filthy but whatever the information was, it must have been for him, it had the royal symbol stamped on the outside, now smudged by the water. He opened it carefully, reading the slightly smudged handwriting line by line.
Never did he imagine that he would read such a news. Blood from his face rushed out, his eyes wide open with his mouth agape. He gulped, tears brimming in his eyes. "Captain," he hollered, storming up to the cockpit. "Yes sir." "Turn back home immediately." "But your highness we haven't reached-" "This is a command captain." he snarled.
He needed to go back home, before it was to late.
The trees swayed to the gentle breeze of the nice hot day. The sky was blue as ever, little cotton like clouds dotting it, perfect to gaze at and guess what it looked like.
"Ah this feels so good." Chika stretched as she walked, enjoying the feel of the cold breeze hit her in her sweltering robes. Riko hummed in response. Though their robes weren't black, except for Yoshiko's because she insisted it to be that way, it had layers of lightweight yet durable armor to protect them. "I guess no matter how heavy armor is it is always hot inside." Riko said.
"How long do we have to go?" Chika whined trying to fan herself with her robes. "Chika chan we haven't even travelled for an hour and you're saying this. Don't you want to find You chan?" "Of course I do but... its so hot." she groaned. "Why does the sun have to be so cruel?" "C'mon Chika chan if we don't go faster we won't find their lair."
The quest required them to search for the lair of the bandits so that they could preform a strategical attack on it. Most of the land had been scored by them and Ruby's bird friend from the Forest of Birds- Pinkie, a robin whom Ruby could only understand due some reason(Riko hadn't paid much attention when the younger girl was explaining). There was suspicious activities going on in that forest like there were no attacks on any village by the bandits ever since You had been kidnapped. Maybe Mari thought it was connected (which was obvious) but something just didn't add up. Riko had no clue what but something felt off. It was not only because of Mari's odd behavior but also the soulmate mark on her back. It was fading. It freaked her out. How could it fade so quickly? It wasn't that long ago that You was captured and it had already begun fading.
She had immediately asked Yoshiko about the fading of her tattoo. This was for sure that these tattoos don't fade very easily as usually they are connected deeply in some way or the other. The truth had hit her hard. It made sense. They barely talked to each other unless Chika was there. The tattoos would fade according to how close they were and this meant that they were... it made sense but it hurt her already aching heart. If only she wasn't so awkward, maybe she'd still have a completely colored tattoo. It wasn't this that was odd but the nightmares that accompanied this. She didn't even want to think about them, as they only terrified her. They were so vivid and it scared her, especially what Hanamaru said grimly, "Sometimes the pain of your decolorizing tattoo gives you nightmares, depending on the pain. And sometimes they come true.", and that was something she didn't want at all cost. And it all connected to You in some or the other way. Like the muscular guy who they saw kidnapping You, who again in her dream was towering over her with a sword in his hand, murderous look and Riko had no clue how it ended. It scared her and that guy wasn't helping her.
"Riko chan," Riko came out from the depths of her mind back to the real world. "Huh? What?" "I've been calling you for sometime ya know?" "Really?" "Yup."
"I've got the best idea!" Chika almost squealed in delight, almost jumping up and down. "What about this, if we find the lair of the bandits and if You chan's there we could use a crate of mikans to distract the bandits and we could release You chan and go back home." "Chika chan not everyone likes mikan." "I know, but the ones who like it would eat it and the ones who hate it would run away in fear." Chika claimed with a proud smile. It was a childish yet dumb idea. "Chika chan I don't think that would work." "Aww... I really thought it would." "Maybe not as much as you mikan catapult." "So let's go with the mikan catapult." "No Chika chan we're not!" "Aww..."
Chika had been working on some ideas for saving You some being absolutely ridiculously childish and somehow involved mikans all the time. Some were kind of funny, some were innovative but easily defeatable but some just made Riko want to bang her head on the stone walls of the castle and die wondering why she knew Chika. Yet it made Riko feel guilty for being useless. All Riko did was be depressed, play some instruments to lessen her agony of the nightmares haunting her in the day and to lessen the guilt not being able to save You, practicing combining instruments specifically the viola and the piano with her powers and be depressed once again.
"Hey Riko chan is that an arrow?" Chika squinted, pointing at a tree in the distance. Riko took a closet look and yes, Chika was right. Riko shook her head at Chika in approval. They had to be on their toes now.
Chika pulled out a tiny disc, about the size of a coin, from beneath her robes and threw it into the air. With a click, the compact disc had enlarged into a sharp spear, ready for battle. Chika caught it, expertly, looking around her for any sign if a bandit. It was a technology that Nozomi had borrowed from a friend.
Meanwhile Riko pulled out a tiny viola from her robes about the size of her palm and with a pluck of its tiny string it grew into a normal viola except this was armed and it was designed to not go out of tune nor break very easily. This would be the perfect chance to test her skills with this new way of using her powers.
"Wait, is it a bandit arrow?" Riko asked after looking around the surroundings along with Chika for sometime like idiots trying to look cool. "Uh, I don't know." "Ugh." "Hey even you don't know!"
Carefully they made their to the tree hoping it won't explode, because there was a chance that it could be those explosive arrows. Luckily they weren't as they didn't explode when Riko's "flower arm" touched it but by the design on the arrow- green and sky blue stripes towards the tail of the arrow did indicate that it was indeed the arrow of a bandit.
"They were here." Chika said steadying her spear. "Maybe we should go a bit farther." Riko said, Chika agreeing to the idea. Carefully, watching their surroundings intently, they ventured ahead. Any moment a bandit could attack them; they could feel a presence in the area.
Whoosh. Riko froze cold in her tracks, terrified. She held the viola tighter and almost began playing. Her heartbeat became erratic as she saw what had passed right in between the two. It was a regal double edged dagger. A sharp blade that seemed to cut through an inch of the bark of the tree it hit, attached to a fine hilt that seemed to be worn out due to repeated usage and topped off with a golden guard that sparkled in the sunlight which had a shiny green gemstone in the shape of a dolphin embedded in it.
Gulping thickly, she turned around. She could hear her heart in her ears beating loudly like a drum. Behind them stood the thrower, standing casually as if nothing happened, her hands behind her head. She was wearing the normal attire for a bandit- brown lightweight armor with green and sky blue stripes on the shoulders, their faces hidden with a black bandanna tightly tied onto their faces, only revealing their eyes and the top of their heads.
"Ah, its you again. Long time no see." the bandit sneered. 'Wait we've seen her before?' Riko thought, shifting in her place preparing herself. "Seems like your princess sent you again." "Of course she did. You bandits have been causing trouble to everyone." Chika told her. The bandit let out a howling laughter, "Wait, give me a moment," she said between laughs, the other two looking at her confused. "Us, causing trouble. Wow, that sounds more of a joke the princess would make." she laughed again, "Are you sure about that, knight? Cause I think we are doing the right thing."
"People have gone missing, towns have been burnt to ashes and supplies have been running out, not just in this kingdom but many others." Riko said with a tinge of pain in her voice. "Do you know why that is being done?" the bandit asked, her eyes curiously looking at them. Chika lowered her spear, as realization hit her, "No but it's wrong. All of it." Chika held her spear tighter now, lifting it up in a fighting stance. Riko agreed to every word. "Where is You chan!?", she bellowed.
"What happened to- I mean- we don't have this You chan." Riko could have sworn the was a some sort of concern on her face before reverting back to the cold look she had on her face. "Where is You chan, you sneaky-" Riko was interrupted, "Like I just said there is no You chan with us."
"We're not going to leave without her." "Well too bad you might have to, you're standing on bandit territory." "This is not the territory of the bandits it's a part of Uranohoshi." "Let's see about that." the bandit threw a wave of daggers at them, waved her arm diagonally, creating wave of water over her, that fell in making her disappear.  Chika dodged them albeit skillfully, some did graze her, spinning her spear like the blades of a fan, the dagger bouncing off of it. Chika remained almost unscathed unlike Riko who seemed to struggle. She played a piece of music but it's intensity was a not enough to match the power of the daggers. The petals only made most of the daggers scrape her each one burning. Riko felt so much pain but she was going to get You, even if she's just to normal to help. "Where did she go?" they looked around them searching for the blue haired bandit.
Whoosh. Another dagger had flown past them from behind, this time almost impaling Chika. "Yikes." Chika spun her spear and both of them turned around.
It was a mistake they committed. Chika shrieked and before Riko could digest what had happened Chika had been kicked into a tree with such a force she heard a sickening crack. "Chika chan!" she yelled and darted to Chika. This time two daggers were thrown at her but she stopped and turned to the bandit who was standing in front of her, a few yards away twirling her dagger. She could see Chika trying to get up onto her feet but was immediately pushed down onto the ground, painfully hard by a gush of water from the bandit’s free hand. She pointed the dagger to her then to herself, "This is between me and you."
Riko played the viola, petals rising beside her now flying at high speeds at the bandit. Riko knew they were deadly unlike before when she used her crossbow, they weren't soft and delicate they were now as sharp as needles, only in this case enough to kill you. They were the petals of a red anemone, a symbol of death.
But Riko wished she had enough skill or experience or maybe if her powers weren't so normal and stupid. The bandit dodged each one skillfully, not one even grazing her. "My turn." she charged towards Riko, at full speed. Riko tried to create a flower tornado or flower hand to pick her up and throw her away but the bandit was quick on her feet and muscular too.
The bandit had dropped her daggers and before Riko could react she was punched in the gut. Air was thrown out of her lungs, struggling to breathe. The viola dropped from her hands and hit the grassy ground. Tears threatened to fall from her eyes as she stumbled back to be again punched in the gut, throwing her back even farther. Punch after punch, Riko stumbled back, at one point blood flower from her mouth and her body bruised from each power packed punch, till she fell on the ground, nearly about to faint from pain and fatigue. Her eyes were barely open at this point.
The bandit hovered above her. She placed a foot on Riko's chest and kneeled down so that her lips were by her ear. Riko winced, not even able to make a sound from the aching of her body in more than one way. The bandit placed the cold blade of a dagger she pulled out on Riko's bruised cheek, the only thing that made her not fall unconscious. "Listen to me knight. You're just a weakling with powers so ordinary, I can just kill within an instant if I wanted to." Riko felt the remains of her self-confidence crumble. "Let me tell you something, not every thing is what it seems. You might not get it now but you will. And this, tell your princess that time's up. There's no use in trying."
The bandit made a cut with a dagger on Riko's cheek making her squirm as blood flowed from the wound along with many others all over her body. The bandit removed her foot and walked away as if there wasn't a fight here.
Riko was emotionally, mentally and physically drained. If what she said was right, where was You? Who could have taken her? Those dreams did they have anything to do with this? She didn't know. Why was she You's soulmate? She was a person who couldn't even make a mark in her life. At this point she wanted to sleep and forget everything that just happened. She closed her eyes and drifted into the land of torturous nightmares once again.

A Christmas date
Pairing: Chika x Riko, Kanan x Mari, Hanamaru x Yoshiko.
Word count: 2146
Summary: Aqours decided to go to Tokyo and three couples had a date.
AN: Hi, so I’m late and I’m so sorry but I didn’t want to hand something I wasn’t happy with. I still hope you enjoy it and that it can bring at least a smile to your face. So @tinted--blossoms here’s your secret Santa present. I had a fun time writing it, but at the same time I had so many ideas that I couldn’t settle down for one, but in the end I guess I did.
PS: I don’t know what Christmas dates are.
Christmas is Chika’s favorite holiday. Valentines is a special date, it was the day she and Riko kissed for the first time, Halloween is also really special, free candies and dressing up as you like is really cool. But Christmas is different. Chika has always been selfless but for Christmas, it was something more. Always wanting to give and expecting nothing in exchange. That is an usual Christmas for Chika but this time it was going to be even more special. Aqours was going to spend Christmas day in Tokyo. Dia came up with the idea actually. She’d been pushing the others to pass their exams. And when they did (they passed so that was enough) it was now time to “relax and have a few days off”. They left the same day Dia made the suggestion, and while everyone in the passenger seat feared for their life Mari and Kanan had an enjoyable moment driving. They decide to part ways and reunite later for dinner. Kanan and Mari decided to go to the biggest mall they could find, Yoshiko dragged Hanamaru to the nearest fallen angel shop she could find and eventually went to an enormous bookstore. You, Dia and Ruby, went to Akihabara, the Kurosawa were looking for all the μ’s merchandise they could find, and You, well there must be at least 30 different uniform stores in there so she could manage just fine. As for Chika and Riko, they decided to do some sightseeing. First, they went to the Tokyo Tower. They took some photos and had a hot cup of chocolate.
“Riko-chan, can I taste your chocolate please?”
“Sure.” As Riko brought the mug closer to Chika the later one leaned over and kissed her girlfriend on the lips.
“It tastes better than mine!” She said grinning. Riko only blushed and shrugged in her seat. Even if she did not say it, Chika knew Riko was contented it was Chika who kissed her and not the other way around.
From there the two high schoolers just strolled for a while and somehow ended up in the Hamarikyu garden. Even winter had its own beauty.  Trees, heels and the temple were all covered by a small, white layer of snow. Some ice stalactites hung from the threes making the garden even more beautiful. It was rather cold so the couple walked side by side while enjoying the view. Despite the weather, both girls could have spent their life living that moment again and again. Just two lovers walking by each other’s side, chatting and laughing.
“Hey, Chika-chan look over there.”
“Eh? What is it? I don’t see any…”
Chika was unable to finish her sentence as a snowball came directly to her face and knocked her down.
“Waaaaaah Riko-chan that’s so unfair!!”
And that was the start of a snowball war. Running, chasing each other, throwing snow. After a while, their hands, cheeks, and noses were freezing so bad they just decided to call it a tie.
“We need to head back now if we want to make it on time.”
“Okay.” The orange haired girl yawned just after saying this and Riko knew they were both tired.
The girls boarded the train and took seats next to each other. It was a thirty minutes ride so Chika could take a nap. She rested her head on Riko’s shoulder and fell asleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Zuramaru look look! These candles are perfect for my next stream!”
“You’re like a little kid Yoshiko-chan.”
“It’s Yohane!” Honey like eyes stares at the pair of pink eyes and both of their owners burst into laughter.
Once Yoshiko finished all her shopping, the girls moved to a small cafe.
“It’s the future, zura!”
“It’s just a screen in a mirror. We saw one last time we were here remember?”
“You’re not fun Yoshiko-chan.” The brunette said with a pouting face. Yoshiko wouldn’t say it out loud but she loved making her girlfriend angry, she always made a cute face. Both girls returned to their seats and quietly drank their teas.
“Yoshiko-chan look over there!” The fallen angel didn’t need to turn her head to know what caused the excitement in her girlfriend's voice. “It’s the largest bookstore I’ve ever seen zura!”
“Well then, if the call from the dark abyss tells you to go there then I guess as my little demon and I, your master, I might as well grant your wish and take you there.”
Yohane was standing with her fallen angel pose when she heard the bell from the cafe and saw the brunette girl already halfway to the bookshop.
A half-hour later Hanamaru had already selected 15 books for this and next week; she was an energetic reader.
“Zuramaru we need to head back now, we don’t want to delay my other little demons. Wait that bag looks heavy let me help you.” The bag packed with books was carried by the couple for a few blocks until they decided to take a rest near a huge Christmas tree. It was lighted up with beautiful white lights and decorated with silver spheres. And in the top a large, beautiful golden star.
“It’s beautiful.” The fallen angel announced softly. Yoshiko had a genuine smile on her face. She didn’t really appreciate Christmas but sometimes Hanamaru could see her being amazed by the ornaments. Maybe they were the same age but Hanamaru couldn’t help the motherly gaze she gave to Yoshiko.
“Yoshiko-chan I love you.”
“Whaaa… wait, Zuramaru you can’t just say those things out of the blue.”
“It’s not out of the blue, I’ve been thinking of telling you for a while now but you didn’t seem prepared.”
“It’s not like I wasn’t prepared… but I love you too Zuramaru.”
Nothing else was said and the high schoolers kissed, it was a soft kiss. One that warms you from the inside to the outside, one that just conveys all the love you want to give to the other without saying anything. Foreheads touching, the lovers just smiled at each other and continued their way.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The mall was enormous, it had maybe height floors and it was so large. No way you could find this in Uchiura not even in Numazu. It was only natural that Kanan was amazed by every store she saw, and it was only natural for Mari to try to buy everything for Kanan. If the blue haired girl stopped even for less than a second to check whatever Mari was already in line, ready to pay for it. Somehow her girlfriend convinced her to not buy anything or that’s what the purpled haired girl thought. A few diving, surfing, snorkeling shops later right in the middle of the shopping area an ice rink.
“Mari, let’s try it.”
It wasn’t often that the American showed herself insecure about something so this was a rare sight for anyone who didn’t know Mari for a long time.
“No no no no no, Kanan you know I never learned how to skate on ice.”
“Don’t worry, just take my hand and I’ll guide you.”
Time sure flies when you’re having fun, or when you’re trying to teach your girlfriend how to not fall when she skates by herself. Both teenagers were laughing so hard they could barely hear Kanan’s phone ringing.
“Hello?...Dia?....Mmm no, we’re on our way….Sorry….No we’ll be there on time I promise…” Chartreuse eyes questioned the purple ones, without saying anything. “It was Dia, we’re late to the meeting with everyone, we need to run right now if we want to make it on time.”
“Don’t worry!” Answered the blonde girl while taking out the car keys and swinging them. “We’ll make it on time.” The fiery gaze and grin Mari had on her face warned Kanan that nothing good was coming out of this.
Less than fifteen minutes later both girls reunited with the group and earned a scold from Dia.
“Honestly you two should do an effort to show a good behavior to our kouhais.”
“Sorry, Dia.” Two voices came at the unison.
“Well then.” The dark haired girl smiled at her childhood friends, even 10 years later they haven’t change. “Shall we start with the gifts?”
So, so many gifts were gifted, and all of them done with so much love. Ruby gave everyone a scarf and mittens, done by herself, with everyone's image color. Yoshiko gave necklaces with different shapes for everyone and engraved with their little demon number on the back. And she had a special one for Hanamaru, it was a feather and it matched with the one Yohane always uses. Hanamaru gave everyone a headband so they could wear them during practice. And as an extra gift, she gave her girlfriend a book.
“I saw you reading it at the bookstore but you didn’t buy it, so I got it for you.”
“Thank you.” The blue haired girl responded while hugging the person she cared the most.
The next person who gave her presents was You. She gave bracelets she made herself, it had nine different colors just like Ruby’s, she wanted to always have a piece of Aqours with her. Next was Chika, she made small personalized photo albums, the majority had the same pictures but most of their owner. It had every important moment for Aqours, their first song they sang as a group of nine, their other trips to Tokyo, their defeats, just a little bit of everything. Then again for Riko, there’s the photo album but also matching barrettes. They were shaped like a three leaf clover and green colored with pink spots.
Now Riko chooses something less classic. She wrote a song, one for every member, she had enough time to record them so the moment she pressed sent everyone got an audio with their song. Some were slow songs, some faster, some used Japanese musical instruments, some were electronic style. Each and every song described the person it was meant for. While seven girls listen to their songs Riko gave her earphones to Chika:
“Here. This one is for us.”
Chika listens to the music, it was cheerful but calm, it was a mix of both of them. This was a song made for them, for Chika and Riko. As the music continues a voice starts to sing softly. Chika stops paying attention to the music and concentrates on the lyrics. The girl tells how much trouble she has overcome to gather the courage to confess her love. By the end of the song the singer is happy, she finally confessed and her feelings were returned.
“D-do you like it?”
“No. I love it. Thank you Riko-chan.” Chika pauses a few seconds to hug her girlfriend. “Riko-chan, I love you.”
Seven pairs of eyes turned towards the couple once they finished listening to their songs.
Kanan gave ugly Christmas sweaters, and she made sure hers and Mari’s matched. They were awful but that was just another reason to wear them.
Dia, just like Riko, wrote something. In this case, she made poems one for each girl, one for each subunit, one for each year and finally one for Aqours. It was their story, the story of Aqours.
Mari gave everyone a plane ticket.
“Mari-chan what is this for?” Ruby asked innocently.
“These are plane tickets! We’re all going to Hawaii during the summer vacations!”
Wow was the only sound that came from six different voices. The blonde girl went closer to Kanan who had not such an amused expression. “Don’t worry! We have our own bedroom.” Kanan just blushed but didn’t say anything else. Then Mari went to see her other childhood friend who, same as Kanan, didn’t seem impressed by the gift.
“Oh, and how could I forget about my beautiful friend, my right hand, my mate, my…”
“I get it Mari-san, please get to the point already.”
“Well then, here.” Mari handed a box. It was the μ’s final live special edition DVD with a promo card.
“No never mind, please take us to Hawaii anytime thank you Mari-san.” Honestly, sometimes the little kid out of the third years was Dia.
After the exchange the girls strolled for a while, chatting, laughing, drinking their hot chocolates, just making memories. They were almost ready to leave when it started snowing. It was passed seven so the whole city was illuminated with Christmas lights. It was stunning. Really sometimes the unplanned trips are the best trips.
Well that’s it but just as a bonus:
Years later Guilty kiss planned a surprise for their girlfriends: while singing and dancing a Christmas-ish song the Chika, Kanan, and Hanamaru opened a box, and then another, and another, and another, and another, until each of them found a small velvet box with a ring inside ;)

final evaluation
for our multiverse theme, I was really inspired by the idea of a passageway through time, or a tunnel that links the past and the future. I looked at Viktor & Rolf’s FW 2016 runway, where they used old scraps and rags from their past projects to create their garments, creating an immersive journey through moments in their career. I thought looking at the theme ‘multiverse’ in a more metaphorical, meaningful way was very interesting, so I decided to reference Viktor & Rolf’s time capsule-like garments in my own, by adding scraps and rags of black fabric to represent the ‘chaos’ side of my dress.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wanted to make sure my garment didn't fall short for the M.A.R.S (maths, art, religion, science) part of our theme, so I spent a lot of time deciding how I should link it all together. For maths, art, and science I machine-embroidered a geometric block pattern all over the ‘order’ side of the dress, inspired by artist and quilt maker Yoshiko Jinzenji, whose minimalistic, yet detailed quilts communicate order like nothing else. I also wanted the geometric pattern to look like living cells of a plant or animal, with little organelles inside. For the ‘religion’ part of my theme I looked at the ancient Chinese philosophy of Yin and Yang, which is a concept of dualism, where contrasting forces are said to actually be interconnected and complimentary. this also fits in with ‘order & chaos’ because in the real world, order & chaos come as a pair, all order was born out of chaos, and you can never have one, without the other. to communicate the idea of Yin and Yang, I made sure to make opposing sides of my dress black and white, and I made the dividing line waved instead of strait to mimic the Yin and yang symbol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From all the 2D processes that I did in this project, I think doing an artist copy of Jinzenji’s quilt embroidery was the most effective, as it really gave me an idea as to what direction I wanted to go in the the ‘order’ half, and it also features very prominently in my final garment. I also think that the ‘fashion rough’ task really helped me loosen up and stop overthinking my designs and ideas. I had never drawn that many designs at once, and I found it really challenging at first because I wanted every design to be the best, but it made me realise that its all about experimenting, and finding out what works and what doesn't. Drawing out my final design idea was really effective in helping me decide what to do next because seeing a fully conceptualised version of my idea allowed me to go back and refine details and make it even better. some 2D processes that I didn't think were so effective for me were the mathematical grid mirrored designs we did. I didn't like the colours I used, and the lighting gave it a yellow tone which didn't look very clean or professional. It just wasn't where I wanted my final piece to go. I loved my ‘positive and negative space’ paintings, I used gouache paints which are really pigmented and easy to work with, and I spent a lot of time filling in all the details, which I think was worth the effort. they came out really clean, looking almost abstract until you notice what the paintings actually are.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
out of all the 3D processes I did in this project, I'd say that draping was the most effective. I had never tried draping before, and a chose to make a very simple dress because I don't have any experience in constructing clothes yet. I really enjoyed draping my garment, because it was really satisfying making the fabric fit the mannequin perfectly, and it was a lot easier than I was expecting. I really enjoyed the whole process of making the dress, like pattern cutting, embroidery, and sewing, my main interest is learning how to construct garments, and although this dress is very simple, I still feel like I've learned a lot. I also love the ‘interstellar wormhole/wearable sculpture’ task I did, i loved the shapes and curves the tights naturally made, I would of loved to have included it in my final piece, but I couldn't work out how to include it in a garment without it getting scrunched up because of the elasticity. Although I like how my pop up constellation turned out, I don't think it was very effective in terms of helping me towards my final piece, as I didn't explore star signs and horoscopes to represent the ‘religion’ part of my theme.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I created a video to show the process of making my final piece from start to finish by making a Tiktok. I wanted to do this because it was an easy way to cut and edit a video quickly, and add music in the background. I wanted a clear story of how the dress was constructed, which I think I achieved. I like the transitions I put into the video, I think it makes the whole process look very seamless (even though it wasn’t) and flow well.
In terms of heath and safety, there wasn't a huge concern because I didn't have access to any serious machinery or tools such as a heat press that could pose a real heath risk, but I still has to consider things such as being careful not to catch my fingers in the sewing machine. To achieve this, I made sure not to use the sewing machine when I was tired or unfocused. I pricked my self a lot with needles and pins, but there was no way I was going to avoid this, especially with the amount of beading I was doing. I also had to make sure not to cut myself with scissors, but at the time I wasn't really thinking about health and safety, its almost second nature.
I faced a lot of limitations while making this dress, especially because of covid. I didn't have any of the materials I needed, so I picked up a bag of supplies that was made for me from college, as well as buying my fabric from amazon. the fabric arrived very late, which meant I had some serious Time restraints. I'm lucky I live right next to the hardware store, I was in and out of there frequently, buying pins, needles, beads, thread, zips etc. I leaned how to drape my dress from YouTube, which meant I did have to have a couple tries before I got it perfect. the most challenging moment was when i realised I spent hours and hours embroidering and beading the wrong panel of my dress, and I had to throw it away.
I really love my final outcome, it looks exactly like the design I drew, and I think its clear that a lot of time and concentration went into creating it. I think I did a really good job of connecting it to all the themes while still sticking to a strong concept. if I were to make it again, I would add more textures and shades of black to the chaos side, I think it would look much better if it wasn't all made out of the same black fabric. I would also add more black strips on the shoulder and hip to give it even more volume. I would also love to have made it on a different mannequin, as my one doesn't have a lot of shape, and with the rag rug design, I had a hard time making the dress keep it’s silhouette.
Ive struggled a lot with time management and organisation while working a home, I find it really hard to say concentrated when I'm surrounded with so many distractions. Its something I need to work on, this was the first time I've had to do a project completely from home, and think it was important for me to see what I'm like working in a home environment so I can see what I need to change for next time. I've always struggled with committing fully to and idea or concept, because a lot of the time I second guess myself and struggle with feeling confident in my skills. this project has taught me not to take things so serious, to improvise, and that it okay for everything not to be 100% perfect.

Your Perfect Self
Rating: K+
Word Count: 2766
Pairings: DiaMaru
Summary: Hanamaru is having some problems with her self-image. She just wants to look good for the love of her life. But how does Dia feel about that?
Notes: Happy birthday, @shiny-the-strange! Since I’ve posted this in multiple places, you’ve probably already been notified about this, so hopefully this isn’t too spammy. Hope you’re having a good day!

Sitting in her library office, Hanamaru let out a wistful sigh. In her hand was a framed picture of herself, Ruby, and Yoshiko from when they were in high school. They were so happy and innocent back then. It made her smile, though not for long. Her eyes naturally drifted over to the other pictures on her desk, most of which she had a love/hate relationship with.
The picture that gave her the most conflicted feelings was a recent picture of herself and Dia, her fiance. She put down the picture in her hand and picked up that one instead, staring at it critically. It was incredible how Dia had stayed so beautiful after high school. She went from the most beautiful girl in school to the most beautiful, stunning woman in the world. What was more incredible - and more unbelievable - was how someone so beautiful had chosen to marry someone like herself.
It wasn't like she had been a portrait of beauty in high school, and the intervening years had not been kind to her. She could see many flaws in that picture, especially when she was standing next to someone as lovely as Dia. Her cheeks were too puffy and the shirts that had fit fine not too long ago were noticeably tighter. The true terrors were thankfully hidden, but they weren't from her. Every day she had to see her increasingly chubby self in the mirror, and it ruined her day before it even began.
Maybe if Aqours hadn't disbanded she would look better. All that training had done a good job at counteracting her excessive eating habits, but it'd only lasted for so long. If only she'd had better self control back then. Thinking back on it, all she could remember was stuffing her face in any situation. No matter how many times Yoshiko mentioned it, she never paid it any mind. She really should have, though. Yoshiko was certainly laughing at her now...
More than anything, she felt guilty. This was no one else's fault but her own. She'd let herself go, and she hadn't done anything to stop her rampant feasting. All this time, and she never thought of the person who had to put up with all of it. Dia had done so much for her. Despite everything, she was loving and supportive, never judging Hanamaru and providing for her no matter how many times she said she wanted to help with their payments. In the end, she offered nothing to their relationship. How could Dia still want to marry her?
What was stranger was that it hadn't been Hanamaru who had gotten down on one knee and asked for Dia's hand in marriage. That would've made sense, because it would imply that Dia had taken pity on her sad attempt at scoring out of her league and just couldn't make herself say no. She was just that kind of person: always putting others' needs above her own. But no, that's not what happened. Dia had been the one to ask Hanamaru to marry her. Even as their wedding date neared, this still confused her to no end. There were so many other potential partners much better than her. Why had Dia chosen her?
Her eyes drifted back to the picture of her, Ruby, and Yoshiko. It was years old now, and didn't show Ruby's own transformation. She definitely had a more recent picture somewhere in her desk. Opening up her top drawer, she fished through it until she pulled out a slightly dusty bundle of photographs. She began to flip through them until she found the one she was looking for.
It had been taken six months ago, and it shamelessly highlighted the differences in how they had grown. While height was the least of Hanamaru's concerns, she still noted how Ruby had grown several inches while she had barely gotten any taller at all. Though she wasn't as tall as Dia, it helped Ruby fill out and look more like the beautiful Kurosawa daughter that Hanamaru had always known she was. It helped that she'd eventually abandoned her pigtails for a more mature, hair-down look, just like her older sister. With the exception of their respective hair colors, there was no longer any doubt that the two of them were related.
Why couldn't she have had a wonderful late blooming transformation like Ruby had? If only she looked more like Ruby. She'd be more svelte and smooth-looking, not lumpy and frumpy. Dia surely would never have any regrets about their relationship if that's what she looked like. She deserved to have someone as beautiful as she was.
That was what she had to do, then. This wasn't any good. If she just sat at her job and moped all the time, Dia would surely have even more cause to call off the wedding because she regained her sense of clarity. What she needed to do was take cues from her best friend and take better care of herself. No more lounging around and binge eating. From now on she would be exercising and crash dieting. She could do this! Of course, her mind naturally thought about the lunch she'd packed for herself that was waiting for her in the fridge. She just had to be strong: she had to resist. Under no circumstances would she eat that food. She was a changed woman, now!
A knock at her door nearly made her drop the photos in her hand. "Ah, come in, zura!" She put them back in her drawer and closed it as the assistant librarian entered the room.
"Miss Kunikida, Hikari got another papercut. Do you have any band-aids?" Hanamaru had to suppress a smile. Hikari had the kind of bad luck even Yoshiko would feel sorry about.
"Yes, I have one right here." She opened another drawer and extracted a band-aid, handing it over to the grateful assistant. The whole time, though, her mind was on the task that laid before her. It would be tough, but she knew that she could do it. By the time they were standing at the altar, Dia would be starstruck by the woman she was marrying... which would hopefully still be her. No, it was going to be her. Definitely! Dia would be in awe of how great she looked.
With renewed inspiration, she didn't eat her lunch that day, even if her stomach started to rumble near the end of it.
Things had been going better, though not as fast as Hanamaru had hoped. Not that it had been realistic. She knew that it'd be hard to forsake food, but her stomach spent a lot of time roaring or attempting to fold in on itself as she forced it to go without sustenance for as long as she could. It was all hidden from Dia, since Hanamaru wanted to surprise her with how great she was going to look.
If anything was harder than staying away from food, it was exercising. She found it just about impossible to do anything on her own, since she was too out of shape and would just give up. What she needed was someone who would force her to do it, and she found that someone in Kanan. She admitted parts of her plan to Kanan, though left out the parts about starving herself. Kanan was on board without any hesitation. Working out was just a normal part of her life.
It was tough but effective. Somehow this was more regretful than denying herself food. She had no chance of keeping up with Kanan, and even when they slowed down the pace, she had trouble. By the end, her breathing would be horribly ragged and her clothes would be drenched in sweat. It was absolute torture, but whenever she looked in the mirror and saw some form of difference in how she looked, she knew that it was worth it.
There was a toll being taken on her body, though. She was overworking herself without giving herself enough nutrients. That was the plan, but eventually her body just couldn't take it anymore. One afternoon, while jogging in the park with Kanan, she started to feel lightheaded. It wasn't a new feeling recently, though, so she ignored it. She had to keep pushing so that she could have any chance of catching up. So she kept running, staring at Kanan's back. Then she suddenly found herself staring up at the sky. How had that happened?
"Hanamaru? Oh thank goodness, you're back!" There was a terribly worried expression on Kanan's face, which just added another question to her compendium. She'd just been running, yet she was now on the ground. She tried to sit back up, but Kanan forced her to lie down again. "Don't strain yourself, Hanamaru. You just fainted." Oh, so that's how that happened.
"I... must've just overheated, zura." She hadn't even noticed that she'd overworked herself. It seemed just as difficult as always, so she'd paid it no mind. She didn't like how concerned Kanan looked, because it made it seem like something was wrong. It was just a temporary setback, that was all. She couldn't have any more delays like that. Not when the wedding was closing in. "L-Let's just keep going."
"Absolutely not!" Kanan shot down the idea immediately, working her arms under Hanamaru so she could pick up her. "You need to rest, Hanamaru. I'm going to take you back home." Hanamaru paled at that, worrying that Dia would find out. She'd be beyond herself if she found out what had happened.
"You... You won't tell Dia, will you? She'd just get worried over nothing."
"Ah..." Kanan seemed to be conflicted, frowning deeper as she gently hefted Hanamaru up and began to carry her out of the park. Hanamaru wrapped her arms around Kanan's neck and clung to her, feeling embarrassed that she was weak enough that she had to be carried home. "I... I guess I won't say anything. But let's be more careful in the future, alright?" Hanamaru nodded against her neck, sighing with relief.
Her relief would be short-lived. When they got to the house, Kanan let Hanamaru down so that she could unlock the door. Though she insisted that she was fine, Kanan was equally as insistent that she come in and make sure Hanamaru got proper hydration and rest. They had only taken three steps inside when Dia appeared, walking out of the kitchen at the sound of them entering the house.
"Oh, Hana... maru?" Her eyes widened at the sight of her fiance, panting and drenched in sweat. She rushed over and grabbed Hanamaru's shoulders, looking over her with a worried expression. "What happened? Are you alright?"
"She's alright, Dia. She just, uh..." Kanan looked guiltily at Hanamaru. It was hard to keep the truth from Dia now. "She fainted while we were jogging."
"Jogging?" That was another thing that Hanamaru had been hiding from Dia. It wasn't that she thought working out was something so heinous that Dia could never know, but it was part of the surprise. Of course, it wasn't much of a surprise now. "Kanan, were you overworking her?"
"What?! Me?! I didn't do anything!" Kanan protested. "I didn't think it'd make her faint! Maybe she isn't getting enough energy." Uh oh. Dia looked at her curiously, and Hanamaru felt smaller under her stare. After all this time, Dia still had that effect on people.
"Well, thank you for bringing her home, Kanan. I'll make sure she gets her rest." Kanan nodded and left, leaving the two of them alone. Her hands still on Hanamaru's shoulders, Dia led her gently to the couch, where she helped her lie down on her back. "We should talk, Hanamaru."
"O-Okay." Oh zura. It was ganba-game over, she was sure of it. "What about, zura?"
"I hope you're not pushing yourself too hard because you're worried about the wedding." Dia gave her an angelic smile, gently petting her head. "I know it's stressful, but everything's going to be fine. If there's anything I can do, please let me know." Hanamaru felt, if anything, even worse. She'd hidden her attempt to 'fix' her body from Dia, to the point where she'd passed out, and Dia wasn't even mad that she came home in such a sorry state. There must have been so much stress already on her due to the wedding planning, but she still felt as if Hanamaru was dealing with stress that she undoubtedly shouldn't have been. There was no way she deserved Dia.
"I'm... I'm sorry, zura." Tears leaked from the corners of her eyes, with her noticing too late to stop it. "You... have so much to do. And... And I'm making it worse..."
"Oh Hanamaru, don't cry." Dia started to wipe away Hanamaru's tears, still smiling despite it all. "It's no problem at all. I'd do anything for my princess."
"But why?!" The words came out before Hanamaru could stop herself. It seemed to take both of them back, but it kept spilling out of her mouth without her permission. "Why are you nice to me, when I'm so... so not worth your time, zura?" Dia's jaw tightened, an emotion forming in her eyes that Hanamaru couldn't place.
"Why do you think that, Hanamaru?"
"Because of how perfect you are, zura! You're so wonderful, so loving and beautiful... and look at me!" She grabbed her stomach and squeezed it, starting to blush as she realized the scene she was making. "I'm... I'm just not, zura. I don't understand why you want to marry me..." This was it. Everything had come out into the open, when she was so sure she would be able to keep it a secret. Now Dia was going to call off the wedding for sure.
"Hanamaru..." Dia surprised Hanamaru by grabbing her shirt and lifting it up, revealing her embarrassing tummy pooch. She tried to push her shirt down, but Dia blocked her by diving down and kissing it. "I don't want to hear you saying those things about the woman I love."
"D-Dia!" Hanamaru blushed harder and whined quietly. Then Dia started to place more kisses all over her stomach, making her laugh. "S-Stop, I'm sweaty!"
"I don't care," Dia proclaimed, continuing to kiss Hanamaru's stomach before gently laying a hand on it. "I love you, Hanamaru. I love you with every ounce of my being. That means I love and appreciate every part of you." Hanamaru opened her mouth to argue, but Dia halted her before she got the chance. "Even your 'tummy pooch'. To me, you look like a beautiful princess. I love every part of you, and I wouldn't want you to change that just because you feel I 'deserve' better."
"But-"
"No buts." Dia leaned up to wrap her arms around Hanamaru, hugging her tightly. "You're always going to be my princess, no matter how you look. Besides, your looks aren't why I married you." She cupped Hanamaru's chin and smiled warmly. "Your intelligence, your friendship, your unwavering love... That's who you are, Hanamaru. And that's what I care about: you." Hanamaru finally returned Dia's hug, trying to hide the fact that she was crying even harder than before. Her struggling voice gave it away, though.
"Y-You're too good for me, Dia..."
"I feel the same way about you." They spent some time hugging it out, letting Hanamaru cry out all her tears and calm down in Dia's arms. Dia was an honest person. Hanamaru had always admired that about her. So why couldn't she believe her when she was speaking from the heart? Her own feelings about how Dia should feel were clouding her realization about how Dia actually felt. "I want to marry you. All of you. I love you, Hanamaru."
"I-I love you too. I really do." Maybe this wasn't the right way to go about it. Dia seemed to truly want her just as she was, tummy pooch, chubby face, and all. If Dia could love her that radiantly, then maybe she could too. To Dia, she was already wedding ready, so she didn't need to starve herself and push herself to the brink of exhaustion. That was just going to worry Dia, which had already been proven. She needed to trust Dia, just like Dia trusted her.
She could do this. Her life was perfect when she was with Dia, so she could feel perfect too, as long as she was with Dia. Through sickness and in health. Forever and ever.

Episode 8
This season has been very good at giving me things that I’ve wanted, but never actually thought I’d get, and this episode continued that trend. Let’s get into it.
This was an episode of quality interactions all-around. The big hitters come later with Ruby, Dia, Leah, and to a lesser extent Sarah, but outside of that, there was some very nice stuff. We’re still getting Riko as the main deadpan to Yoshiko’s antics which is a nice reminder of their developing relationship. It was short, but watching Dia and Mari sync up like they did, and how it mirrored Mari and Kanan from episode 4, was really nice. I’m not sure what it is, but there’s something about their moments together that I love. Riko, in general, is starting to have tiny interactions with other members of the group become more routine, which, for some people, might be important.
Saint Snow is shaping up to be a truly interesting pair. Their almost direct foils to Aqours, but never seem to be direct rivals. Aqours current talent and skills were born from failure, while Saint Snow’s confidence and self-assuredness come from, what seems to be, genuine ability. They’ve been favorites to win the whole thing since last season, even though they’re just as new, Leah being a first-year after all. That’s a simple enough setup for a basic rivalry to form, but that never happens. Sure, Saint Snow were dismissive of Aqours when they first met, but what had Aqours done up to that point to earn respect from the big up and comers?  As soon as Sarah is able to see what makes Aqours special, she gives them respect and helps when needed (To Chika at least.). The obvious contrasts between the groups are never played up as something antagonistic. Instead, they’re used to highlight Aqours fears, or joys, in interesting ways.
I wanted to see a final with both Aqours and Saint Snow, but that got shot down. Saint Snow failed spectacularly. There were hints leading up to that moment, like Sarah's inability to get Leah to talk, or Leah’s shaking hands that Ruby was quick to pick up on. Just as soon as their performance began, it ended. The shoo-ins to advance failed in the most embarrassing way. Its effect on Aqours was immediately shown. That quiet train ride seemed to be a sobering experience for the entire group. The immediate thing on everyone’s mind was whether they should even visit Sarah and Leah after such a devastating loss, but there did seem to be a bit more. A realization that things could end, even for a group like Saint Snow. All that talk of getting performance ideas from the show going in, and to walk out having watched them fail. It’s an interesting angle, and Chika would be a perfect character to explore it, though I doubt it’ll happen much if at all.
Ruby is strong, and I think that needs to be said. Sure, she can be shy, maybe she doesn't really stack up to Dia when it comes to commanding attention, and there’s a meekness to near everything she does, but I don’t think that means she’s weak. We saw it on full display last episode with her will to continue while the group was in disarray (that scene gained way more importance after this episode. Ruby’s conviction probably stemmed from a want to continue with Dia.). We saw it again in this episode. Picking up on things that only a little sister as close to their older sister as Ruby is could pick up on. The shaking, the crying, and the why of it all were things only Ruby could put together, and she was the only one that could help Leah come to terms with what was going on.
This was the sister's episode, and I’m weak to all kinds of sibling bonding. Dia and Ruby have gotten a big spotlight on them as the season’s gone on, and I’ve enjoyed every second of it. We haven’t seen too much actual interaction from Sarah and Leah, but this episode did an excellent job of showing their closeness without direct interaction. We even got to see some talk from Chika about what it’s like to have a big sister, and it was all so very sweet.
Graduation once again takes the spotlight, but with older sisters, it takes on a more emotional meaning. It stands to reason that the fight that Aqours heard about between the Kazuno sisters was about that very subject. Their outburst in the shop didn’t seem like the first fight of that kind. They had the talk before, and it wouldn’t surprise me if that was the core of Leah’s nerves before the performance. Watching all of this unfold has a deep impact on Ruby. She starts to question her own feelings about what will happen after Dia leaves, and she reaches for the same conclusion that Leah does. If it’s not with my big sister, then why keep going? It was Dia’s interest in school idols that sparked Ruby’s, and them being together is a major part of what makes all of this as special as it is, but Dia is all too good at dealing with Ruby, and in turn, giving Ruby the confidence she needs in order to confront Leah. It’s a touching scene between Ruby and Dia as they recognize the inevitable future, but it helped affirm Ruby’s thoughts moving forward.
Ruby and Dia’s perceived dynamic was challenged subtly in this episode. Dia may be overprotective of Ruby still, but it isn’t born from a want to stifle, but to allow growth. During their talk, Dia makes a point to tell Ruby that watching her pursue her own dreams is she takes great happiness out of. Ruby’s ability to make decisions on her own and watching them unfold is something Dia took great joy in and continues to do so. It’s a small difference in the dynamic because Dia is still very much Ruby’s protector, but that protection comes from a want to watch flourish and not much else.
We get to see Ruby’s strength on display one more time. Her want to help Leah allows her to overcome deep shyness and the earlier threat. Ruby wants Leah to understand what Dia helped her understand. It starts off in such a fittingly child-like way, arguing over whose sister is better. A simple way to show their love, because it’s rare to see Ruby stand her ground, and we’ve never seen Leah so animated or talk so much. They break out of their assigned roles when it comes to their sisters. Leah understands what Ruby’s saying, that Sarah will take joy in her accomplishments even if they aren’t in the same group, but there’s a second layer to it. Leah was practicing hard to prove that she’d be okay alone, that Sarah wouldn’t have to worry, but she botched it when it mattered most. Ruby doesn't take that for an answer and tugs Leah along with her, with an adorable smile to boot. It doesn't have to be their last performance, they’ll write a song for their sisters and perform together (I want to believe they’ll make an actual song and it wasn’t just a reference to the ED.). An idea that was very Ruby-like, so simple and full of feeling and Leah went along the whole time.
To wrap things up, I’ve gotta ask. Did anyone ever see that duet at the end happening? It feels so right now, but if you would have told me at the beginning of the season we’d get a Leah and Ruby duet, I’d have called you crazy. Though after this episode I want to see even more of these two. They play off of each other in such a unique little sister way, and they make for the most adorable moments.
An unrelated thing, but as I see more and more of Mari’s character I’m convinced there isn’t as much actual depth or hidden meaning to her character as I keep thinking. She seems like a giant ball of contradictions with the angst and all the shiny in the world, but I'm starting to convince myself that she’s just a happy-go-lucky girl at heart that was dealt a bad hand. Her biggest angsty moments all come from friends and things that affect them. In a way she’s like Chika in that regard, their first thoughts always going to how things affect those around them. I’m still not wholly convinced, but the more I look at Mari through the lens of “This girl just wants to have fun with friends and be stupidly happy, but circumstance is not kind to her” the more I’m convincing myself. Who knows how it’ll shake out going forward, but some stuff I saw in this episode reminded me of the thought.
Also, we’re going to get full versions of these Saint Snow songs at some point, right?

dia: she is such a good big sister i love her. also she has like a militaristic enthusiasm when it comes to planning and training and i admire that. she is so beautiful i love her mole and her eyes that can be powerful OR kind. i rly like her hair clips??? and her theme color is so gorgeous!! that shade of red is one of my Power Colors. also the way she smiles that makes it look like she knows everyone’s secrets but won’t tell anyone. also her voice is so strong and i love the thing she does where sometimes when she’s singing she just TOTALLY goes for it and her voice gets a lil wild i love it so much
hanamaru: she is so soft and strong??? i love how she supports ruby and how she is always eating bread or other food bc she looks like she’s having such a good time. i like how her voice is rly soft but also can be very rich and beautiful when she has solos!!! fun fact this is the exact moment hanamaru shot up from Fav Tier 3 to Fav Tier 2 from 1 single shot. zura!!!
kanan: i love her!!! i love her!! in season 1 she had like No Time but in season 2 she is getting rly good development and i loved happy party train so much. i love how she has kind eyes and is really supportive of her friends!! her voice is so special and u can always hear her smiling when she sings. it sounds like she has something she knows will make u happy that she can’t wait to tell u
mari: i lov her so much !! i love her delivery of some lines like when she just does a flat “what.” her singing voice is so bubbly and fun like she absolutely embodies the Smile attribute especially in her higher range? and then her subunit songs are like so hardcore and metal i love them so much. also her eye shape is so pretty!!! mari is the most recent figure i added to my desk collection (she got here on like wednesday and i love her so much)!! also i love how sometimes she softens her Rs it gives her such a cute accent
riko: her hair is so pretty!! i love how u look at riko and u kind of think maybe like “here is a prim and posh girl” but she has like a fun adventurous side too. i love her yellow eyes!! and i loved the recent ep where she’s starting to get over her fear of dogs i’m so proud of her!!! ok i know this was technically not like Canon Character Riko but u probably know my most very favorite thing about riko…it was during the first aqours live where she broke down during the omoide performance on day 2 but everyone cheered her on and she tried again and did perfect. it was so amazing!!!!!!!!! i literally tear up every single time i think about that and i’ve just like accepted it as part of riko’s storyline. she is so brave i love her!!!!!!
ruby: ruby is Very Special bc she reminds me of u mary and i love her A LOT. she’s like so shy and relatably socially anxious at first but she’s getting like so brave and radiant??? her voice is so cute and squeaky!! i love her fashion sense when she wears casual clothes and also i cry from cuteness every time she goes PIKI!!!!!!!!!!!!! she’s so adorable i love her hair color and also she has really long beautiful eyelashes if you look closely!! also i love how her eyes are the same color as dia’s!!! she’s so cute i love her
yoshiko: i love her voice so much??? also her hair bun is adorable. honestly the 2 biggest reasons that yoshiko has gone from Fav Tier 4 to Fav Tier 2 this year are this solo in Kimi no Hitomi o Meguru Bouken (which is an absolute Jam in its entirety and easily in my top 10 aqours songs) and the Corn Yoshiko UR which i have been BLESSED WITH AND NOW OWN. anyway in season 1 i kind of viewed her as a one-dimensional char based on like 1 trait and now i appreciate her so much more?? please keep singing yoshiko
you: i love her??????????? she’s in Fav Tier 1 with dia but u know that already of course. i relate so much to her fixation with uniforms and nautical themes (actually she has influenced my fashion sense and thanks to her and josuke’s combined efforts i now own a lot of things with anchors on them). i love her hair color like it’s not a normal Anime Color but it’s so pretty?? and i love when she wears her glasses bc they match mine and she looks so cute!!! her eyes are so pretty and i love the energy she has and the focused stare she gets when she looks at texts from her friends kksdkfsdlfj it’s very relatable…also her voice is so??? beautiful??? it sounds SO strong and confident i am tearing up just thinking about it. her voice is the one i can always hear IMMEDIATELY no matter how many other people are singing (jingle bells ga tomaranai comes to mind) and her solos are such a blessing. she has a few like…background lines ? in some cyaron songs and they make me so happy. also i love how she salutes everyone!! she has a very comforting aura and i love her. i feel cheated bc she missed being a taurus by three (3) days and we almost match

Chikariko week day 5 (stars)
https://archiveofourown.org/works/12375198 “Space Riko: she's a cherry girl in space. She combs the galaxy like her hair on the hunt for aliens. Planet after planet she searches, discovering bizarre new creatures both friendly and not. These are the spectacular adventures of Space Riko and her brave companion Space Chika in space." Words:1257
Day 1 In response to recent events, the AQOURS council has ordered me, Riko Sakurauchi, to keep a logbook of the CR squad's expeditions. Before I continue, I have to explain CR and AQOURS. AQOURS, the Alliance of Quadruple Omniverse Unions Regarding Space, is an alliance funded to ensure a safe life in what is known as the pioneer age of space travel. CR is the Capture and Restore department of AQOURS. We have to scavenge the Quadruple Omniverse and document as many lifeforms as we can find. What is the Quadruple Omniverse? To this day I don't know. I was told it's something big, beyond our comprehension, times four. So for now, that is all the explanation needed, at least regarding terms I will be frequently using. The reason for this logbook is an accident involving a recently discovered creature. I can neither remember it's name, shape, or anything related to it. My partner, Chika Takami, has informed me that it spew a gas that supposedly has an amnesiac effect on any person who gets in contact with it. Judging by my missing memory of the creature, I am obliged to believe my partner. Don't take this the wrong way, I trust my partner. She is a brave and energetic woman who leads us to battle in a way that I could never do. She's giving me the final push needed to do many things. It's just that this exact push often threw us in unnecessary danger, like the amnesia inducing creature. But enough of her. I haven't properly introduced myself. I'm not the kind of person to set the stage like Chika. But I don't wanna sit around in the background either. That's why Chika is perfect for me in every conceivable way. She gets the attention and I can make sure our job is done right. Okay now for real enough about her. For the rest of the day I have to undergo tests miss Takami has to put up for me, to check both my sanity and memory. I didn't get in contact with the gas for long, so the effects are not critical. I assume that about one day of my memory got lost. Takami helps me recovering these memories bit by bit.
Day 2 I have passed the basic test! My cognitive skills are unharmed, my knowledge prior to the incident is unharmed and Chika was so proud of me~ She even let me take a bath first! Usually we have to save on water on our ship, so we share one bath. With taking turns of course! Anyway, Chika usually prefers a hot bath, as she loves how her muscles relax. I like cold baths, as I can focus my spirit and thoughts, but doing this once was fun! It's too bad we have to take turns, I would love to do this more often...
Day 3 This entry will be hushed We're on a mission I forgot to use the logbook correctly I used it as a diary Now Dia is mad Dia Kurosawa is the president of AQOURS I was right you should never wake up a sleeping crea
Day 4 I apologize for my rude behavior. I will not misuse the logbook again. My carelessness has caused a life threatening situation for us yesterday, and we would be dead if not for the heroic save miss Takami did pull off in the end. But even though we escaped and gathered all the required information, we are banned from expeditions for now. That doesn't provide an opportunity to write a diary like entry, as I still have to present the logbook to the president frequently. For today Chika planned to take me out for a dinner, and I must say I am most impressed.
Day 5 Dear Diary, I did not present you to Dia. This is stupid. I am supposed to keep this to memorize important things, not to write reports. We have to do those too! So I decided that a girl needs privacy, and secrets~ If only everything was this rosy...the "Dinner" miss Takami brought me too was a ramen noodles stand...admittedly, the ramen did taste amazing, and the view was gorgeous too...we could see the milky way. It made us feel a bit nostalgic, knowing that is where we came from. And a meteor shower grazed us too~ ...still. A dinner, especially in a situation like that, is supposed to be something proper. And I put so much effort into my dress and makeup, while miss Takami wore the same clothes she wore on the aforementioned expedition! ...I did enjoy this. I really did. All the stress aside, the calm atmosphere on that small moon really made it...somewhat romantic? Hehe, now I really can't show Dia~
Day 6 I almost had to show my logbook to president Kurosawa. In the end I could convince her that the logbook is for personal memories I have to remember, including pins and passwords, and read it again whenever the effects come back. Knowing this is mine now, my password for my room is "I_love-chika_takami". No one else will read this, so everything is fine~
Day 7 Nothing is fine. I had to read through this logbook since the effects kicked in again. And this time it has been worse. I have no recollection of "Aqours" or "Chika Takami" but she claims to be my partner. I am confused about my relation to miss Takami. Reading through my notes, we are supposed to share some kind of special bond, considering my password and me telling about her actions. But why is she so distant? She's always at least three arm lengths away from me, doesn't dare to look at me, and speaks only in a strict and proper manner. This contradicts what I figured out about her here. I have to investigate this further.
Day 8 Everything is so confusing. What is this. I love her. Who is she. She's three different persons, someone I described in here, someone she obviously pretends to be to conform me, and then there is the one I think she truly is. She's neither rude nor proper. She is something else. I want this to end
Day 9 I have made a terrible mistake. Due to further complications regarding me and miss Takami, I have requested to be assigned to another district of AQOURS, and am now the secretary of miss Mari Ohara, the chairwoman of our company. Yoshiko Tsushima, self proclaimed captain Yohane despite not owning a ship, is now the co-captain of Chika Takami's ship. I don't think that was the best way to handle this situation, but it had to be done, as I could not focus during missions, and almost caused a mishap again. While this job at this desk feels lonely and empty, I can focus on my job.
Day 10 Well... A lot. Happened. Where do I begin? I guess I'm back? Captain Yohane caused a mess. And I don't mean an adventure. I mean a physical mess on my ship. Garbage everywhere, stains and plastic bags, the entire packet. She was fired and I got my original job back. And after all the cleaning was done, Chika... Embraced me in a long kiss. I guess we're a couple now? I already overheard people on the headquarter ship talk about "Chikariko", so either Chika blurted it out or we're too careless when kissing. To be honest? It might as well be both~
I love space dandy okay? Will I do a series of space riko fics? Probably. I’ll probably be too lazy.

Not a request for you,but I've always imagined that the reason trans girl Yohane really leaned into the whole "fallen angel cosplayer/livestreamer" image,other than her spiritual beliefs,is because it's the perfect chance to wear big,fancy dresses and makeup. (Less relevant,I also thought that she'd probably have rather permissive parents,if not necessarily openly supportive ones.)
Oh my goddess that’d totally be a really big reason. I think that, like in my trans boy Yoshiko/Yohane HCs, her Yohone persona would also be a part of her shaping her identity alongside everything else? Hmmm.
I mean if I had the figure for it/had I started hormones at a younger age I totally would’ve done it for the same reasons.

“Are you scared, Yoshiko-chan?” Mari chuckled “You shouldn’t. You won’t feel a thing! Look at me – I know what I’m talking about!” Getting her hair out of the way, she showed Yoshiko her left ear. She was getting her seventh earring today.
“I’m not scared! I just – I’m not scared! At all! And it’s Yohane!” Yoshiko sighed. She didn’t know what to say. She was nervous. She had been anxious since the day Mari offered to accompany her to get another earring on her ear. When she said she wanted pierce her ears again (considering she already had one earring on each ear since she was a kid) she wasn’t really serious. But Mari got way too excited about it.
“Yoshiko-chan, Yoshiko-chan, there is no use on trying to cover it! The second one is always scary, but don’t worry!” She said. Yoshiko sighed yet one more time. She put her hands into her pockets and they kept on walking to the store she was going to get her perforation. Her stomach was tied into a knot and she couldn’t wait to just get it and feel calm again.
“I remember when I got my second earring! It was Kanan’s idea. She asked Dia and me to get one with her, as friends. Romantic, right? Dia and I refused. I was kind of afraid like you, Yoshiko-chan!” Yoshiko exclaimed something about not being afraid. Mari giggled “I agreed after seeing Kanan get hers. Dia didn’t get one, though. She was way too terrified and said she’d look like a delinquent or something. Typical Dia. Some months later I got my third. And now I can’t seem to get enough of them! I was about your age back then. I’m so proud of you. You’ve grown up to be a beautiful young girl.”
“Stop talking like an old woman!” Yoshiko said. Mari didn’t seem to hear her and was humming some song. Yoshiko rolled her eyes.
“We’re here.” She said, opening the door for her underclassmen. Yoshiko snorted and got in. Mari talked to the girl that was working there meanwhile Yoshiko looked at the earrings she could choose from. There was a skull one. And a fire one. And a feather one. She wondered if they had that one in black. There were others that were bigger, shaped like claws and crosses. Ones that were even bigger than her ear. Expansions and studs. She chose the feather one, in the end. They didn’t have it in black, but she decided that silver was alright.
Mari got hers first. She was getting a tragus. She smiled at Yoshiko while she got it. The girl in charge of the store smoothly stuck the sterilized needle through her ear, placed the earring and that was it. Mari stood up and thanked the girl. It was Yoshiko’s turn. The girl asked Yoshiko were she wanted it. Yoshiko sat on the chair and pointed right next to the earring she already had. Mari said that that was the perfect place to get her second earring, since it hurt the less. The girl took a marker out of her pocket and made a dot there.
“It will only hurt a bit, alright? Like a bee sting. It will only last a second.” She said, placing a cork behind Yoshiko’s ear. She gulped. She didn’t like getting stung by bees.
“I-I don’t think I-“The needle was halfway through her ear. Yoshiko closed her eyes. Her ear felt hot, and after the earring had been placed, she felt nothing. Just like a bee sting.
“That’s it.” The girl said. Yoshiko couldn’t help but smile like a dork. She had another earring.
“Told ya.” Mari said. Yoshiko frowned at Mari’s cheeky smile.
“Shut up. Fallen angels always go trough this kind of stuff.” She said as they walked away from the store. She placed her hands on the back of her head. She wanted to go home and stare at her reflection in the mirror. She wanted to see how she looked. She wondered what Hanamaru would say when she saw her. She smiled.
“Yeah, right, Yoshiko-chan. Let’s go for an ice-cream. My treat!” Mari said. Yoshiko didn’t pay attention to her; she just kept on walking and thinking on where she would like her next earring to be.

Hyperallergic: In Hiroyuki Doi’s Tiny Circles, Expanding Miniature Universes
Hiroyuki Doi, “Soul II (HDY 3014)” (2014), ink on washi, 37.5 x 38.25 inches (all images courtesy Ricco/Maresca unless noted otherwise)
In Japan, Hiroyuki Doi enjoyed a successful career as a master chef at some of Tokyo’s top restaurants and, in his spare time, began dabbling in art by producing small spot illustrations — simple line drawings of common subjects, like flowers or everyday objects — for assorted publications. Then, suddenly, life’s unfolding drama led him to remove his toque, leave the kitchen, and devote his energy full-time to making art, a decision that eventually brought into being one of the more unique bodies of work to be found anywhere on the art scene today.
Now, Hiroyuki Doi: Soul, a presentation of Doi’s newest ink-on-paper abstractions at Ricco/Maresca, a gallery in Chelsea, offers an opportunity to catch up with the latest developments in the sprawling clusters of minuscule circles that have become this Japanese artist’s signature creations, and the determination with which he has continued to explore the expressive power of this distinctive formal language. As a young man, Doi, who was born in 1946 in Nagoya, was interested in gastronomy, art, and culture. He made his way to Tokyo, where he perfected his cooking skills and became a chef, using his savings to fund fact-finding vacation trips to Europe. “I did some serious research about art and food, going to museums to see great Western art and eating meals whose recipes and ingredients I carefully studied,” Doi told me a few years ago during a visit with him to a Tokyo seafood restaurant operated by one of his friends. It was one of those tiny Japanese eateries that seat eight people at the most, the kind passersby who are not regular customers either overlook or hesitate to enter without being accompanied by an habitué known to the chef.
“I can cook Japanese and Asian food, of course,” the artist said as he poked his chopsticks into a doll-size serving of a delicate crab-brain omelette, “but it’s French, Italian, and Spanish dishes that long ago seized my imagination and became my specialty.”

Several decades ago, Doi was comfortably settled into his career in Tokyo when, suddenly, his younger brother died from a brain tumor. Devastated by his loss, the gastronomic adventurer turned to art-making for solace. He gave up his work as a chef but felt unsure about where his change of direction might lead him.
His close friend Yoshiko Otsuka, who later became his Tokyo-based business manager and art dealer, recently recalled, “Doi had been making paintings in oil or watercolor of flowers, foods, and other subjects; his circle drawings evolved slowly. He started making his circle drawings around 1985, but I did not see them until some time later. At first I thought they were weird, because I had never seen anything like them, but then I began to appreciate their energy, sensitivity and movement.”

Doi has written that “using circles to produce images” provided him with “relief from the sadness and grief” he felt following his brother’s death. Since that time, his circle motif has alluded to such themes as “the transmigration of the soul, the cosmos, the coexistence of living creatures, human cells, human dialog and peace.” Of course, the circle is one of the most basic shapes in nature, art and design. Powerful in its symbolism, it represents such resonant themes as fullness, unity, vastness, and even the fecundity of the protective, enveloping womb. Zen Buddhism’s influence can be felt in interpretations of the circle as a symbol of the universe or, by contrast, of the void.
Doi uses the Japanese-made Pilot brand’s DR Drawing Pens, whose polyacetal tips keep their shape. Unlike felt-tip pens, they do not become thicker with use or dry out, but instead dispense their oil-based ink smoothly until their last drops. Doi prefers a pen with a super-fine, .005-millimeter tip. Normally he draws on Japanese washi (handmade paper), including sheets made with fibers from the barks of such shrubs or trees as kōzo (“paper mulberry” in English), ganpi or mitsumata, which he buys at Ozu Washi, a specialty shop in Tokyo that has been in business since 1653.

Several years ago, Otsuka, a professional counselor for children, parents, and teachers, began showing Doi’s abstract circle drawings to just about anyone who would take a moment to examine them. Otsuka’s on-the-job training, gumption (which is not always appreciated in reserve-respecting Japan), and art-biz smarts became as integral to the chef-turned-artist’s tale as his decision to change careers and the peculiar evolution of his art. Today she runs Yoshiko Otsuka Fine Art International, a Tokyo-based company.
In 1999, Otsuka, who had lived in the United States as a high-school exchange student and later earned a degree at Columbia University’s Teachers College, traveled to New York in search of galleries to approach on Doi’s behalf. She knew little about the structure and dynamics of the art world. One of her New York friends recommended that she visit the SoHo gallery of the now-retired Phyllis Kind, who had long been recognized as a doyenne of the art brut, outsider art, and self-taught art fields. “I went to her gallery, but it was closed,” Otsuka told me in a recent e-mail exchange. “Still, through the window I sensed its atmosphere, and it felt good.”

Two years later, Doi and Otsuka headed together to New York, where, with New York-style chutzpah wrapped in impeccable Japanese politesse, they showed up at Kind’s gallery without an appointment and asked to see the legendary dealer. Last week, by telephone from her home in San Francisco, Kind recalled, “The gallery had a full roster of artists, and I wasn’t looking at anything. But these Japanese visitors had come a long way and were carrying an intriguing, brown-paper package. I looked at Doi’s drawings and was astonished by the obsessive intensity of his work. Somehow he had made that intensity visible. His art offered a great example of something I had always looked for in any artist’s work — it was genuine.”

The drawings Doi showed Kind depicted swelling, churning agglomerations of tiny circles resembling celestial constellations or billowing cloud formations. Painstakingly executed, their character was serene and meditative. At first glance, they seemed to share formal affinities with classic East Asian ink-wash painting, but their mode of production was completely different. Kind went on to show Doi’s art at her gallery and the Outsider Art Fair. His works were included in the American Folk Art Museum’s Obsessive Drawing exhibition, which opened in 2005.
Since the closing of Kind’s gallery several years ago, Doi has been represented by Ricco/Maresca in New York; he has also presented exhibitions at venues in London and Tokyo, including Pilot’s Pen Station Museum, a company-sponsored art space in the Japanese capital (although the artist has no business relationship with the writing-utensils manufacturer, nor does he endorse its products).

The images on view in Doi’s current exhibition offer some of his most voluptuous compositions ever, all of which seem to float and spread like galaxies expanding endlessly in the far corners of the universe. Doi’s strange, voluminous forms seem simultaneously alive and tactile. The fluffy subject of his “Untitled (HDY 0115)” (ink on paper, 2015) resembles some kind of bulbous plant slowly opening its protective husk to reveal an exotic, scaly core, while the jewel-like encrustations at the heart of “Untitled (HDY 0315)” (ink on paper, 2015) appear to swipe at the heavens with a right hook — or spill out from a tornado’s blustery cone.
“Soul (HDY 0413)” (ink on washi, 2013) may be the most luxurious doughnut ever to have emerged from the unknowable ether (or else it’s one of the universe’s more seductive, all-consuming black holes). Its fuzzy, round form finds its inverse reflection in the hydra’s tangle of outward-reaching, lacy tentacles of “Soul II (HDY 3014)” (ink on washi, 2014). By contrast, with their blobby charm and sprays of errant circles shooting off from their sides, “Untitled” (ink on washi, 2010) and “Untitled (HD 2210)” (ink on paper, 2010) possess both the sturdiness of otherworldly bowling balls and the gossamer lightness of big, overblown puffs of cotton candy.

In an e-mail message, Doi noted that he keeps up with current events, and that sometimes a bit of news inspires him to begin a new drawing. He indicated that his circle-making technique has evolved: his tiny circles have become even smaller, and his circle-derived forms have become more three-dimensional in appearance. Doi continued, thoughtfully, expressing the humanist spirit that pulses through his art, “Nowadays, people depend on technology too much. I know it’s important, but sometimes people rely on machines and do not believe in people.”
Through his own art, he explained, he strives to express a sense of soulfulness and peace, adding that he remains an ardent believer in the value and expressive power of handcrafted works of art. Then he signed off with some quick-note jottings that reminded me of the time he told me how glad he was that he had discovered art — and that art had found him, too. He ended his message graciously, writing, “This is my philosophy. Thank you very much.”
Hiroyuki Doi: Soul continues at Ricco/Maresca (529 West 20th Street, Chelsea, Manhattan) through June 24.
