Hey, uh... Pennsylvania Dutch magical traditions are closed, and anyone who isn't explicitly connected to them through family/initiation should NOT be claiming to be practitioners of Braucherei or any associated Germanic Pow-wow tradition.
You are literally breaking cultural and spiritual taboos by identifying with the Pennsylvania Dutch for any reason other than being directly connected to those traditions.

this is a long shot but do you have any information on German folk magic or German American folk magic?
I'm not a German folk practioner but you are in luck because I do know of a few creators online who are! They'll do a hell of a lot better job at directing you to good information than I can.
I'd recommend doing the usual stuff like searching on social media platforms for relevant tags like #germanfolkmagic #braucheri & #hexe. Learn the language, read the folktales, learn some recipes, listen to the folk music & learn the history. When searching online, use whichever web browser is commonly used in Germany because that'll open you up to a lot more information.
There are a few awesome German & German American folk practitioners on tiktok I follow. Go check their content out & look on their Linktrees for more information. I think all of them are on YouTube as well.
Hexe Marie ◇ A Hearth Witch ◇ De Spokenkieker
For more Pennsylvania Dutch folk magic (also known as Powwow or Braucheri), i'd recommend these channels on YouTube:
The Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center
The Pfalzisch Braucher (I'm pretty sure Olivia's also on Tiktok)
The Powwow Guy
Douglas Maderford
Hopefully this gives you a good place to start. ❤️

apologies is this has already been answered but i know a small amount of a German dialect spoken by my grandmother. as far as i can tell, the only people left who speak it fluently are all older adults and live in a handful of small towns in Iowa in America.
id love to attempt to blog in it, but im worried i dont know enough to do so, and that i would have trouble looking words up that i dont know since there aren't many native speakers left. also, i dont think spelling was ever standardized at all.
are there any ideas or strategies you know of that i could use to help in this situation?
Hi, you mentioned in your tags that it's a form of High German? Well, Pennsylvania Dutch is apparently a fairly common form of High German spoken in the region. Maybe looking that up could help you? The wikipedia has lots of information and references on it! And here's a dictionary for it.
It might not be exactly what your grandmother spoke, but it might help get a feel of it and help you find a way of spelling it :)
And don't worry too much about it being 'correct'. You can always add a transcription of what you said in English for clarity. It would be neat to see it either way, even if it's just a few words!
Glicke! (good luck!)

listened to your recent ep on pie safes (great ep!) and here to tell you more about mennonites. the thing about mennonites is they come in a lot of different varieties! some reject most modern technologies and have lifestyles very similar to the amish (and don't use the internet), but some groups allow certain limited tech into their lives, and some live lives that are virtually indistinguishable from the usual modern westerner. the mennonites who wear counter-cultural clothing and don't drive cars are the most visible, but there's a whole range. church splits are all the rage, lol, over various doctrinal and lifestyle questions. I grew up mennonite but on the far "modern stuff is fine and good" end of the spectrum!
Fascinating! My family is also on the "modern stuff is basically fine" end. We probably have some cousins in common lol. - Ken

i just learned of pennsylvania dutch within these past few days and wtf man
some of its features (according to wikipedia, imo those are the coolest ones so i’ll demonstrate those)
the phrase “what for” for “what kind of.” the funny thing is this is grammatically incorrect in german. what for translates to “was für” which in everyday language many people use but it’s plain wrong. and this gets translated directly into english LOL
“throw some hay over the fence for the horse” becomes “throw the horse over the fence some hay” which is so funny bc this is german wod over
“it wonders me” instead of “it makes me wonder”
“mox nix” = “irrelevant”
