J'ai énormément de mal avec toutes les blagues autour de cet accident, les gens qui font et diffusent ces blagues ne pensant pas vraiment aux victimes innocentes et à leurs familles, mais ici, je ne peux pas ne pas partager eu égard à cet incroyable timing... BP.

(Aussi sur Fb hier avec un visuel/écrit avec Palmade en Assurancetourix diffusé sur TF1 dans Astérix et Obélix contre César juste après l’accident dont il a été question ici hier et que toute la France connaît).

omg okay, this is going to be my one and only post about this but this rant has been brewing inside of me for a week now and i just can't hold it in anymore. i would post this on twitter but twitter is awful so here. you. go. also context for anyone wondering.

1/ yes, drugs are bad. congratulations on your moral high ground. if you've never drank too much, taken sleeping pills, anti-depressants, had anxiety medication, etc. and engaged in dangerous behaviour (to yourself or to others) as a result of bad dosage, con.gra.fucking.la.tions. you lead a pure life. you deserve a medal. otherwise, in the words of lily allen: "you've got a prescription and that makes it legal? i find the excuses overwhelmingly feeble."

this is someone who has openly struggled their whole life with mental health, and cocaine addiction. yes, he was high. yes, this is bad. yes, he rammed his car into someone else's and ruined the lives of a lot of people, including his own. yes, he is to blame for the accident. no, that does not give you the right to stand there on your pedestal and throw stones at the peasants, demanding "consequences" and a public hanging on top. the consequences are there. a child died. everyone's life is ruined. i hope we can show a little human decency and empathy in the face of this tragedy.

2/ yes, the two people who ran away were dickheads. yes, they also got scared. when you've just been in that kind of accident, you don't act rationally. it is so. fucking. easy. for you to sit there on your sofa and say what you would have done. again, congratulations on your moral high ground. yes, they deserve to be punished for not calling an ambulance, but no they don't deserve to get lynched by your popular jury of fucking idiots. again, please learn empathy.

3/ the "involuntary homicide" qualification makes no legal sense. i don't care that it feels right to you. the law isn't here to cater to your fucking feelings. an unborn child is not a person under french law for the purposes of this and thus this will not hold. idk what the parquet (prosecution) is doing. i wish them the best of luck in this stupid endeavour.

4/ no, for the love. of. god. he shouldn't have gone into détention provisoire. pre-trial detention is an exceptional measure. it is not the rule. it is meant to prevent the re-occurence of crime or to cope with flight risk. this man is currently laying half-dead in a hospital bed and is not. a. flight. risk. there is also little chance he will wake up tomorrow, get high, get into his car, and purposefully ram it into another one again. this is a tragedy, not a flowerpot used to grow the seeds of your personal desire for revenge. if you think he should be in pre-trial detention for a car accident under the influence you are fucking insane.

and, before you come into my mentions saying something like "well, if his name was 'mohammed' he would be", please keep in mind that this is the Problem not the solution. of course, the justice system is biased against people of colour. of course, he is a privileged white, cis-man who is a celebrity and the fact that he wasn't placed in jail (and has actually never been to jail despite being arrested half a dozen times in his life on drug charges) when french poc-s are jailed for way less than this is evidence of this bias. but putting more people in jail is not the solution. we should be working on preventing poc-s from being wrongly imprisoned, not wrongly imprisoning famous white people. this makes no sense and you are deranged.
