“When she cried, I was the one who wished to cry loudly; I would have preferred her not to be born, because I knew what awaited her. Breathing. Only the chore and sadness of breathing and breathing, as things change from tender to dry, new to old, the night-moon that grows thin then swells, the fireless sun that lights up, the soughing of wind that transports, shatters, gathers, and drives away the clouds, raising and flattening the dust. Only the sorrow of going to sleep and waking up, feeling life without knowing where it comes from, aware that it will flee without knowing why it was given to you, why it is taken from you. Here you are: there is this and this and this. And now, enough.”
Death In Spring — Mercè Rodoreda.

DAVE: no stay with me here

DAVE: and roxy isnt gone but he isnt really the same as he was before
DAVE: maybe thats shitty of me to say and im like leaning in to my own internal biases
DAVE: but talking to him feels different
DAVE: and karkat is the same big fucking tool hes always been but our shit is definitely
DAVE: uh
DAVE: different than it was before

KANAYA: I Am Quite Easy To Locate In The Dark

DAVE: not much to say on that front
DAVE: except sometimes your best friend disappears and your other best friend goes into a ghost coma and your third best friend fucks off to space with your dad
DAVE: the dude youve spent the last 7 years convincing yourself isnt an egomaniacal anime villain
DAVE: and who isnt actually lying in wait to completely decimate your life and your emotions and shit
DAVE: anyway i forgot what my point was but yeah im fine
DAVE: though what the fuck does that even mean anymore for any of us
DAVE: maybe it was naive to think that a bunch of twenty something trauma victims could run a society
DAVE: maybe this is better
DAVE: at least this way we cant fuck it up worse
DAVE: cool how earth c existed for centuries then we show up and manage to ruin society in seven fucking years
DAVE: maybe dirk actually did the smartest thing he could
DAVE: fucking left

DAVE: man i guess
DAVE: but who knows maybe jane will turn out to be a great president
DAVE: maybe without dirks corrupting influence jakes ass will become a symbol of peace and interspecies harmony
DAVE: at least everyone can agree on something
DAVE: shit how does this always happen
DAVE: every serious conversation i have inevitably falls apart into riffing on a casual acquaintances ass
KANAYA: Not To Suggest Anything Untoward
KANAYA: But You Appear To Be The Unifying Component In All Of These Scenarios
DAVE: could be
DAVE: but all that aside i really do think were better off out here

Mirage Dragon
These dragons live in the ocean and have the ability to make themselves seem invisible to the naked eye by using light. The fin like things on their sides are their wings, but they also act as a type of fin while underwater, too. They're friendly dragons who tend to help people that are lost/adrift at sea. Their home is a mysterious and illusive island called Mirage Island, which only appears once every 100 years. However, these dragons are always able to find the island, even during the island's nonvisible periods. Their diet consists of eating fish and fruits. Although, friendly to humans, they mostly keep hidden underwater to avoid them and will keep their distance from them, as well, if the human(s) don't appear to be in any trouble.
