now that i’m replaying Outriders (2021) here’s a great goddamn writing tip:

manufacturing drama for drama’s sake isn’t good writing. if your characters are acting out of character specifically so that you can make something OH NO TERRIBLE happen for maximum drama that actually doesn’t effect anything else in the plot except to try and garner emotional reactions? that’s bad writing. it’s just bad writing. there’s no getting around it. it pisses off your audience and adds nothing but resentment.

god i love this game but i literally had to slide down in my chair and laugh hysterically so i didn’t scream.

Although Terminators have been front-and-center this edition, it's nice to see Ravenwing getting some love even if it is just a shoulder pads and hussar wing for their sergeants. Samael desperately needs an update, but that's probably just as well since the Primaris grav units haven't exactly been standout exemplars of design.

Love that the Terminator plasma cannon doesn't have any chapter-specific iconography on it, though. That's gonna get some use outside of the Dark Angels range.

PCF and Squenix publishing really just showed the gaming world how to kill your own game, and significantly decrease player concurrence in less than 2 years and no I don't say this with any amount of positive elation

#Like...Godfall did REALLY BAD #and yeah they did better than Counterplay Games and Gearbox Publishing #but like...when you take the somewhat of the same steps to get there at your 3rd big attempt to revive the game? #yeah...they killed their own game #and this is going to be a real big fucking issue for people to get deeply into the looter genre #(specifically the looter shooter genre) #in future title releases #like honestly I don't see a great blockbusting revival of looter games for a very very very long while... #and that's IF there's a game that can do that at all #Outriders had the potential...and it was borked since day one
