What are their thoughts on having children?

Tim gets along great with kids because he's halfway still a kid himself, but he has zero interest in having children of his own. as a gay man he honestly just never worried about it. learning about pregnancy in sex ed scarred him for life and made sure he kept his gold star, he never even experimented in high school.

Tim is well aware he can barely take care of himself. he's not going to care for a whole tiny person. not to mention the legal nightmare that is two men trying to adopt children. he doesn't want anything to do with having a family. he just wants a partner.

Raylan doesn't truly want kids. he knows his temper and remembers growing up in Arlo's house and never wants to subject a child to the Givens family inheritance. but he feels the pressure to want to want them. he's a deeply repressed and closeted gay man trying to uphold the heterosexual ideal. so when he married Winona he professed to wanting to try for children, but he kept putting it off and Winona never felt any baby fever so it didn't happen for them.

shacking up with another man means Raylan doesn't have to contend with that expectation. he can let all that go and doesn't have to worry about it at all.

tbh i don't like kidfic lol. i think the babies after ever trope is horrifying enough in straight romance and personally i find it doubly horrifying in gay romance. so i usually leave out Willa when i write fics and write in a canon divergence setting where Winona never got pregnant.

i don't think the topic of children would even come up in a conversation between them. Tim might broach the subject after they're retired and ask if Raylan regrets not having kids and Raylan would assure Tim it never crossed his mind.

Tim is the only boy Raylan's ever wanted.

if i let my mind wander in a more canon-compliant direction ... Tim and Raylan just deal with Raylan fathering Willa the best they can though it is a sore spot in their relationship. Tim never becomes a step-dad to Willa because i honestly don't think Raylan could handle that. he'd already struggle with living up to fatherhood and juggling his home life with Tim along with his relationship to Willa and having to deal with Winona constantly. it'd be kinda a mess!!

yeah i'm just not a fan of tropey use of kids in fic or traditional domesticity, it's not my jam so i like to have Tim and Raylan be childfree. that's what i want for them. lbr Raylan should just be Tim's daddy dfkdlklfkls SORRY BUT IT'S TRUE.

1: sexuality headcanon - after answering this question a couple of times, I think it is safe to say TL are what humans would call pansexual in the sense that their preferences aren't very directional (let's face it this is the most evolutionarily rational direction to take in a reproductive organs shifting species (the Master is generally Doctorsexual tho)) - what does differ across regenerations is libido level, as in how likely they are to get horny (and in the Doctor's case that usually increases when the Master's around); so in this context we have a fascinating set where Twelve is pretty much an ace while Missy is permanently horny - luckily, Twelve is not a sex averse asexual, and willing to perform for a romantic partner, so we probably have something of a pythonic scene of Missy (and let's be fair, Clara and River too) passionately riding and confessing most ardent affection for that old man while he tries to follow Neptunian equivalent of Kama Sutra (getting himself acquaintanced with it in the process)

2: otp - each other, of course; just let them have their much postponed French riviera honeymoon BBC

3: brotp - I mean. apart from the Doctor Missy interacted with an afterlife Zuckerberg, Clara, Nardole, passingly with some UNIT members and Bill, and her own past. that's not much to choose from. so I'll go with Clara, just because this is also what I go with for Twelve (also consider two characters who know the most about the Doctor; Rose and Sarah Jane having a giggle would be nothing condiered to what these two'd get up to): romantic elements I fully acknowledge aside, I think it must have been really refreshing for the Doctor to have a companion that was so much like them; and weird assumptions about straight corellation between age and skin collagen levels aside, his truthfulness with her was very powerful

4: notp - I don't really have one for Twelve, just because his asexuality is so obvious that I'd assume if he's shipped with someone there's a good reason for it? for Missy, the male presenting Masters all being horny for her specifically, yeah selfcest is a good metaphor for narcissism inherent in this character which is what I keep repeating to myself about season 10 finale, but when Masterful (which I LOVE srsly the Doctor could only dream of having such a good 50th birthday celebration) doubled down on it I just thought honey your attempts at heterosexuality are about as convincing as those sybil breasts slapped by Michelangelo on what's clearly boy models

5: first headcanon that pops into my head - I remember it well from Gigi is their song and Bill plays it on her smartphone each time they interact, BBC just muted it for copyright reasons

6: favorite line from this character - for Twelve, Human progress isn't measured by industry. It's measured by the value you place on a life. An unimportant life. A life without privilege. The boy who died on the river, that boy's value is your value. That's what defines an age. That's what defines a species. - wow. just wow. this is such growth from the Time Lord Victorious who'd evaluate individual life from it's Historic importance and the face that almost annihilated a civilization (for the second time!) for one person, also extratextually excellent way to measure the level of civilizational progress; for Missy Your version of good is not absolute. It's vain, arrogant and sentimental. If you're waiting for me to become all that, I'm going to be here for a long time yet. somewhat contradictory to the sentiment of the Twelve quote? yeah maybe but this marks the last time as of season 13 the Master represented a philosophy contradictory to the Doctor's (or, for that matter, anything more than a snivelling canine of a chorus to how awesome the Doctor is) that, despite the text denying it much right, has a respectable place in human ethics: deontology versus pragmatism, yes gimme the Doctor Master dialectic heading for recognition that nothing is simple anytime

7: one way in which I relate to this character - Twelve is... pretty much the Doctor I identify with the most? yeah man be this intellect before emotion bitch that shows how those two are nowhere near contradictory (trying to derive ethics from thinking and keeping contradictory or inconclusive evidence to yourself for the same reasons you don't tell people there's going to be a financial crisis: they will storm the banks and a crisis will in fact occur; they pound that into your brain in every Polish sociology class) and will raise hell if you cannot move heaven for the people you care for (just don't cut out people you haven't yet formed to your liking from the caring part); for Missy, I too aspire to express all my moods through piano and would have Peter Capaldi grab my boob within 2 minutes from meeting him not even for sex reasons just to see him flustered 🙃

8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character - for Twelve, informing newly met people Clark Kent is Superman: I get that it makes sense for plot development reasons, but man you don't just say these things! also consistently insulting John Simm's pretty squishy round catface while he's getting an obvious libido rise from the other's proximity; for Missy, not caring for her hairstyle while in prison, wtf gurl, demand an avocado and banana based hair mask in addition to the LHC and pony!!

9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave? - look there's a lot I like about Moffat's writing, just as there's a lot I dislike about it, but putting the Doctor slightly further down the problematic fave side than the Master (while keeping them mostly in character) deserves proper appreciation; they're both on the problematic fave side of the spectrum though

(delusional Wincester here) Is it at all possible that the ambiguous love confession from Cas is some sort of device to prepare the audience for Sam and Dean to turn out to be a bit closer than normal brothers? Is there precedent for hinting at an unlikely fan pairing to make a different pairing more palatable later?

Is there a precedent?  Yes, plenty, though it’s hard to tell the difference between The Plan and making-up-shit-as-you-go.  These “unlikely” pairing are either placeholders (The Walking Dead Carol & Ezekiel) or to show the audience why the one true pairing (Carrie & Mr. Big) has to happen when compared to the previous pairing (Carrie &  Russian Guy) even though the one true pairing couple have no redeeming qualities.  The Walking Dead will have a spinoff featuring one true paring Carol and Daryl, except 11 seasons will have passed and the general audience are over the idea of Carol and Daryl.  Similar with How I Met Your Mother fans were no longer invested in the Ted and Robin pairing after 9 seasons and were mad when they turned out to be OTPs.  Similar reasons why the SPN fandom largely rejected the interpretation of that scene as canon Destiel because 11 seasons have passed without any textual romance between Dean and Cas.

Going back to the intent of your question, the audience already knows Sam and Dean have a closer than normal brother relationship, it’s a notch above the platonic heterosexual life partner trope that is the mainstay of many, many shows. I wouldn’t be surprised if by the finale they take it up another (platonic) notch.

Xena and Gabrielle Relationship Timeline (official)

Xena fell for Gabrielle pretty early in Season 1 but didn't act on it because she was dealing with her whole "Woe is me, I'm bad and evil and Gabrielle is pure and good" drama.

Gabrielle, meanwhile, was suffering some serious comphet and it wasn't until Girls Just Wanna Have Fun when she realised GIRLS ARE HOT and that she didn't just want to be Xena, she wanted to be WITH Xena.

That end scene in GJWHF is basically Gabrielle propositioning Xena and in my head canon, they become FWB after this because a) Gabrielle is a baby gay and b) Xena is scared of commitment.

Gabrielle then got guilted into marrying Perdicus because he threatened to kill himself (classy dude that one), but also because of gay panic and the fact that Xena wouldn't agree to make their relationship more serious.

If Ulysses is actually a real episode and not a fever dream, it definitely happened after ROC but before The Quest, where X and G are still in their weird FWB but not willing to admit they are actually girlfriends stage. I have no idea what Xena would ever see in such a boring dude but whatever. Something something hurt feelings about Perdy and maybe some more internalised "I'm getting too close to Gabrielle and I will hurt her, better to hurt her now by latching on to this boring man" thinking.

Then The Quest happens and they admit they love each other (gay) and then they're officially girlfriends and they get married after A Family Affair and honeymoon in India.

Laguz (Tellius?) AU

I’ve had this idea a while ago but only started doing stuff for it when I saw the Fantasy/Mystical prompt for BoKuroo Week 2020 on Twitter.

The original idea was just to make Kuroo a cat laguz and Bokuto an bird laguz. For those who are unfamiliar, laguz is the name of the animal shapeshifting race in Ike’s world (yes, that Ike, better known from Smash than his own actual games). Tellius is the name of the continent he’s from. So it started out with me just wanting to draw them as laguz, and then it somehow accidentally became a Tellius AU? Sorta? Idk, it’s still pretty half-baked.

So just some things to go with the shitty concept art:

Kuroo is a cat laguz (panther, specifically bc big black cat) and Bokuto is an owl laguz (obviously). Neither of those actually exist in the Tellius universe, but who actually cares. Certainly not the devs when they could just throw in wolf laguz in the sequel game, amirite haha

Since this ended up as more of a Tellius AU, I didn’t do anything creative with their clothing and they are based closely on those belonging the in-universe tribes.

It seems like generic male cat laguz all wear head band scarf turban things? So initially I was gonna give Kuroo one, but he didn’t look great in one. So I made him a high-ranking officer just so he could break the dress code (if there actually is one) and have him wear it as a scarf instead. The entire Nekoma team is his squadron, I guess.

Bokuto’s the leader of the owl tribe and I had originally given him more cleavage lmao, but then I thought about it again, and I just can’t imagine Bo having his tiddies out like Tibarn (although I’m sure we’d all like that 😂).

Naturally, Kuroo and Bokuto are the same as we know them as, long time friends and bros. Except they exchanged personalized trinkets as a symbol of their “bond” as “sworn partners” in... life. In a totally heterosexual way. Yup. There is nothing heterosexual about it.

Bokuto gave Kuroo some of his molted feathers (which he most definitely complained about at first) but he wears them on his hair or as a necklace (so they don’t fall off when he transforms). He definitely doesn’t wear them with pride, nosiree.

I’ve read that claws are retractable for big cats, but I don’t know if they grow back when lost. So Bokuto wears Kuroo’s fangs as a necklace. (Idk how they fell off. He probably tried to eat a rock solid apple, idk.)

The human equivalent of these are probably weird af lol.

There’s not much else to this AU, haven’t really done any world-building. This just gave me a reason to draw my OTP as furries without the shame lmao. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

I can’t really wrap my head around this – but why do shippers on IG constantly think samcait/ppl ard them are leaving “clues” on Ig/social media point towards them having a secret relationship? I mean do they really think actors are so childish and have nothing to do? Would you be able to shed some light on this?

Yes, there are many people who don’t ship in the Outlander community. Unfortunately, not a lot of them are on tumblr. You’re more likely to find them on Facebook or on some of the big Word Press blogs. 

What you are running into BTW for the most part isn’t regular “shipping” but an extreme form of shipping called “tinhatting.”  To understand more about regular shipping versus extreme shipping/ tinhatting you might want to check out this PAGE from my main blog. (Please note you can’t access that page from the mobile app; you have to use a computer to access it through the web.)

Anyway, I’ll try to explain a little bit about tinhatting here and how it applies to your question about the “clues.” 

Tinhatting seems to have started a couple of decades ago with the DomLijah ship in the Lord of the Rings fandom. There seem to be five basic tinhatting beliefs that have been passed on from fandom to fandom. These beliefs were were delineated in an August 2012 ARTICLE by Aja Romano in The Daily Dot. Below is a modified “generic” version of those beliefs that can apply to different kinds of celebrity couplings including heterosexual couplings (since the original beliefs were based on the DomLijah gay coupling).

The Powers That Be (TPTB) are scheming to prevent the celebrities in your One True Pairing (OTP) from announcing they are a couple.

The significant others (SOs) seen with the celebrities in your OTP are actually “fake” dates, usually hired by TPTB to pretend to be the celebrities’ romantic partners.

TPTB have made your OTP sign a contract that prevents them from revealing that they are actually a couple until a specified event is over (e.g., the show/ tour ends, award season is over, the merger happens, etc.).

When the specified event is over, your OTP will have a reveal of “their love,” after which the world will know that you were right all along and “will be sorry” they “doubted you!”

Until such time as the reveal happens, your OTP will be sending “secret messages” that they hope their devoted fans will understand. Your OTP may also occasionally rebel in other ways against the directives of TPTB in order to demonstrate that their “love” can endure despite all this.

Now, none of these beliefs are based in reality. No studio or cable channel or production company could ever legally force two actors to “hide their love” and pretend to be with “fake” SOs in this day and age (see POST). But that doesn’t stop tinhatters from passing on these beliefs as if they were real. A lot of misinformation is passed around to support these beliefs, especially by fake “PR or entertainment experts” who hang out in tinhatter communities. 

If you look at #5 above you will see why the tinhatters believe that S & C leave “’clues’ on Ig/social media [that] point towards them having a secret relationship.” It’s one of the tinhatter beliefs based on the assumption that S & C have been “forced” into “hiding their love” by TPTB.

It’s total nonsense. But that’s where that belief comes from.

Tinhatters unfortunately believe that Sam and Cait have been together since 2013 and have been “secretly married” since 2015 and that Cait’s 2019 marriage to Tony is a “fake” to distract from the “real” marriage. Some of them even think that S & C have two “secret daughters.”

It’s pretty sad that a group of grown women believe that two B-list actors would spend years “hiding” their love, and hanging out with “fake SOs” because they are being “forced to” by TPTB. 

It would make fore a good novel but not for real life. But there is no talking to the ones who want to believe this. It doesn’t matter that after 5 years (6 if you count the year when they thought S & C were just “dating”) that there has never been a “reveal” or any solid evidence that their ship is real. The hardcore SamCait tinhatters keep on sailing on the ship to nowhere. 🙄
