I was just thinking about how much Link from Twilight Princess loves animals and how many cats he gets to hold in the game and I started to get emotional. I just love them so much. So here’s Link petting the cat who I think is also named Link. Hope you guys enjoy!

I have a small theory as to why the bulblins kidnaped the kids in Ordon while Link got left behind. Time states that Ganondorf has become afraid of children in Heroes legacy. Ganon became paranoid after his encounter with the Hero of Time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SO back to the era of Twilight Princess. The Hero of Time has a descendant. The Hero of Time has a bloodline and Ganondorf is a ruthless man. In this vision/flashback, we see Ganon doing his evil deeds before he is banished to the Twilight realm. I think this is showcasing us that Gannon caused the ruins in tp looking for baby Twilight.
Tumblr media
I think that this war was the start of the resistance group. The members of the resistance look for and take care of any survivors. This is where Rusl finds little link. Rusl takes the child to Ordon and raises the boy with his wife Uli. Ordon is an isolated village. The Twilight realm is a perpetual twilight, Ganondorf would be unable to tell how much time has passed, or at least have a difficult time doing so. Until he is in the realm of light again. I think at the beginning of his return is unaware that baby Link is now a young adult. So he sends his henchmen to find and capture children expecting to find a young link eventually. (wind waker style-ish) thus the children in Ordon are kidnapped. oh dear remember when I said this was a small theory.
NOW I am aware that I said that Ganondorf was unaware for a little bit that little link grew up. I have a reason, it's Collin. don't tell me he wouldn't get mistaken for a young link. The blond hair color, the way his hair is parted down the middle? blue eyes? why such a display unless you're going to parade the poor kid all the way to Ganondorf. As a way to say i found the kid you were lookin for. we the players know that Colin has round ears but it's also interesting that out of all the village kids, Colin's ears are obscured by his hair on both sides. (clarifying that the design choice that we easily see the round ear tops of the other village kids intrigues me)

Ordon Winter Wear as ft in Snowfall! This is specifically Twilight's outfit.
Ordon has hot summers and cold winters. they have a festival for the first large snowfall of the year where they thank the wind spirits. snowmelt is vital to spring crops. common offerings include flowers like crocuses, irises, and daffodils as well as winter leaves
this clothing is very typical of ordonians in the wintertime but is also ceremonial for festivals such as the snowfall festival ft in the fic
because winter clothing is more labor intensive, its often passed down through families. most adults wear the same set for life once they stop growing
all of the fiber is goat or plant based
the textiles are much sturdier and heavier and than lighter clothing
all textiles are made by local spinners. most ordonians make their own clothes. uli is a skilled seamstress as is ilia. knitting is used as well
for an explanation on the beads see Notions
the way the cord is tied around the sash indicates *which* village in ordon the person comes from
the winter sash is much stiffer and warmer than a lighter sash
men and women wear different shawls
men earn their shawls through service to the village. bo has one as the mayor, rusl earned his as a defender, link also earned his as a defender.
married women wear shawls. during the engagement period, they dye and knit their own shawls and the couple are married together under it
women's shawls are larger, warmer, and more decorative. they are worn like a blanket rather than a scarf
women can *also* earn the smaller shawl. if they do, they wear the larger shawl like a sarong and the smaller shawl over the shoulders
men can give their shawls to their partners as a sort of indication of courting. its more serious than flowers; think of it like keeping a locket
when a person passes, their shawl is either buried with them (wrapped it in) or sewn into a larger blanket of family shawls which are then used for specific memorial days
leg and arm wraps are very similar to norse wraps. it helps keep the person warm, but also dry
the goat horns are harvested from passed goats or broken horns and are carved down and polished until smooth. they may be carved decoratively
hats and gloves are also typical and are knit. they are common gifts, esp for children. really lovey-dovey couples might swap a glove to wear a mismatched pair
the pants are secured with an inside drawstring and have reinforced knees
the boots are very warm and very soft. special care is taken to keep the fleece as long as possible

Do you think the Twilight Crystal is still in Ordon? You know, the thing that let Twilight Link transform back & forth between Hylian & Wolf.
By present-day, no. The Twilight Crystal no longer exists in this version of Ordon. BUT it had played a big role in shaping the Ordon peninsula's history and faith.
-
The Twilight Crystal was originally the headpiece of the legendary Twili Empress, Midna's crown. She was the last Twili Empress who lived about 5000 years prior to the present-day and was considered as the figure who broke the curse of "eternal Twilight" that was inflicted on the Ordon peninsula by the Interlopers - aka her ancestors - and brought the four Light Spirit Guardians into the physical realm to help in Ordon's healing from her ancestor's twisted magic.
Midna has since acheived "ascension" and is considered as the "Patron Saint of Twilight" in the Ordonian faith.
Tumblr media
The Crystal was similar to the Secret Stone in TotK, and was a kind of amplifer for Midna's powerful magic. After her passing, the Twilight Crystal became a sought-after treasure by thieves and treasure hunters.
One such treasure hunter used it to "recreate" the power of then extinct Twili people's legendary magic. And ended up causing the "Era of Great Darkness" where the peninsula was consumed by a shroud of darkness that twisted any unfortunate mortal's spirit into unspeakable monsters. This led to the rise of the Light Spirits and their Avatar vassals to vanquish the Darkness.
The Twilight Crystal was then destroyed by the Ordonian Avatar, Oron the Shepherd (aka this Ordon's version of Link, the Hero of Twilight) with the assistance of his Light Spirit, Ordonia.
This occurred about 3000 years prior to present-day.
Oron's descendants would go on to establish the united Kingdom of Ordon, the predecessor to the present-day country of Ordon.

Link and Midna with Ordon Jack O'Lanterns
Tumblr media
Hello there, it's been a while. ',:)
Sorry for the long breaths of disappearing with practically zero life science, but ya boi is back!
Or at least trying lol 😅
Been doing a lot of different postage on other sites and meaning to check in here with some Zelda posts from time to time.
Hasn't quite worked like I thought it would but I'll try to keep it coming. :)
So, what inspired this post? Well, I was carving jack-o'-lanterns With Friends and wanted to do a proper inktober post ( because my track record with inktober is truly atrocious lol)
Tumblr media
Guess which one is mine lol
Anyways, I hope you guys like it. :)
And I'll try to be less of a stranger. :^)
Love-

LoZ - Hyrulean Cultural Aesthetics
Overall Cultural Influences:
Central Hyrule & Hylians specifically = Medieval Germanic & Arthurian English with some variation depending on location. All Hylian towns will likely have a little bit of this in them.
Humans = Rural, small town, down home, farmer, tough as nails, survivor, rough around the edges, traditional, conservative, but still rebellious, & generally very good-hearted. That means they are the rednecks, the cowboys, the military men, the American Southerners, the Vikings, & the Celts kind of characters. You're salt of the earth types. At least in feel, though not necessarily in culture. It's because of this that humans generally get along well with Gorons. Either way, humans stick mostly to the agricultural & ranching settlements for the most part.
Zora = Hard to tell as they generally don't wear clothing, but they do wear a lot of jewelry. If I had to give them clothes, I'd definitely say they'd be something flowy. Possibly Roman or Greek in fashion to go with the water theme? As for sensibilities, maybe a bit of French Rococo. I also get the impression that the Zora's Domain is actually divided into 2 levels: the Upper Domain & the Lower Domain. The Upper Domain is what we see in the games & consists of the commercial district & palace. The Lower Domain is entirely underwater & is where the Zora actually live. The reason we don't see it is because Link can't dive.
Rito = Northern Native American. Aldean specifically. Maybe a bit of Latin American.
Goron = A mix of Maori (Polynesian), African, Dwarven, & maybe a bit of Old West mining town, though it's hard to tell for certain as they generally don't wear clothing. Definitely something with a decent blend of caballerismo & machismo. Something masculine & tribal, but also community oriented & friendly.
Gerudo = Egyptian/Middle Eastern Amazons with some Orc influence. Possibly with some hints of Hindu too. At least as far as fashion goes.
Korok/Kokiri = If Peter Pan & the Lost Boys were Hobbits.
Twili = Possibly Scandanavian? Also Chinese with some Japanese influences.
Mogma = They seem to be Brooklyn-ish. Maybe even a bit of an Italian-American Mob feel, but more so in the "friendly gangster" way. So, I'm seeing some Bensonhurst influences, which is a specifically Italian-American borough within Brooklyn, I believe. Maybe even a bit of New York Jewish? Like, they come across as being Italian mafia adjacent, but only in so much as the accent, the attitude, & family-oriented organization. Sort of an "it takes a village" & "we take care of our own" type of mentality. Not in any way actually mafia though & certainly not in the romanticized view of gangsters as I don't actually see the Mogmas being the types to actually commit crimes on the reg. And despite being avid treasure-hunters, they seem to have a general culture of altruistic generosity. By that, I mean that their love language is gift-giving.
Yeti = Norse Viking.
Minish = Borrowers.
Anouki = Inuit.
Lokomo = Possibly Greek?
Zonai = Mesoamerican.
*Lupos = Gaelic, Celtic, & Nordic. (This is a race I made up, if you wanna know more, go to Wolf Link & the Lupos Race.)
Smaller Settlements:
Hateno = I'm getting Gaelic Scottish farming town. Also maybe a bit of Spain, Italy, & Greece. Mostly inhabited by humans & Hylians.
Kakariko = Japanese with maybe a touch of American Old West. While primarily Japanese, there's also some definite South Korean influences. Especially in their cooking.
Mabe = Rustic dairy ranching town vibes because I'm putting Lon Lon Ranch there. Based on how AoC & LA's Mabe was designed, their roofing is colorful terracotta tile & generally has ivy & such growing on their homes, so maybe Colonial Spanish. Mostly inhabited by humans & Hylians.
Goponga = I'm getting rural Luisiana Bayou vibes, most likely due to it being located in a swamp. So, primarily Cajun, French, & Colonial Spanish with some Zora inspiration maybe. Mostly inhabited by humans, Hylians, & Zora.
Deya = Not sure yet, but I'm giving them a vineyard, peach orchard, & making them use them to make moscato, so maybe an old Tuscany winery & fishing village? Mostly inhabited by humans & Hylians. From what we see in the games, it was actually the biggest settlement in Hyrule besides Castle Town, so it could've been a full-on town or city.
Ordon = Has a rural ranching feel & might be inspired by a southern agricultural town in Italy called Ordona. So, maybe rural Italy with American South mannerisms & sensibilities. Culturally, though, I get Gaelic Irish vibes. It might be the smials… Also, maybe a little bit of Welsh too. Either way, it's mostly inhabited by humans & Lupos (more human than Lupos) with the occasional Hylian, Sheikah, & 1 or 2 Gerudo. (For more of their overall culture, go to Ordonian Culture & Ordon Cooking Culture.)
Lurelin = Rural Hawaiian fishing village. Maybe a little bit of Caribbean & Okinawan? With a little bit of Mesoamerican mixed in due to Zonai influence from the nearby ruins.
Ealiyah = Tibetan-flavored Gerudo farming & brewing town. Maybe a little bit of Russian too? Also, interior decoration is eclectic & cluttered but cozy & colorful in a vibrant, rustic Bohemian sort of way. There are also some influences from humans, Hylians, Lupos, & even Sheikah to a degree as several of each race lives there too (all men), but overall, the culture remains mostly that Tibetan-Gerudo sort of style. They do a lot of weaving & sewing as well as dying. (This is a town I made up, for more on its culture & history, go to Ealiyah Town & the Highlands Gerudo.)
Tabantha Village = Norse with Rito, Yeti, & Lupos inspiration. So, old Norse Viking, Aldean, Celtic, & Gaelic with a Russian & Welsh accent. They use a lot of furs in their clothing. Mostly inhabited by humans, Hylians, Rito, Yeti, & Lupos.
Shadow Hamlet = Dwarven possibly, with Goron inspiration. So, very masculine. Maybe a bit of Old Western Mining Town. A mix of Gorons, Hylians, & Humans tend to live here.
Koholint Domain = This is on the Koholina Archipelago, which Eventide Island is the smallest island of & will eventually become a fishing & port town. In-world, it has influence from Zora, Rito, & Lurelin. But, from a real world perspective, it's mostly Polynesian, coastal Native American, & coastal Hindu with some ancient coastal Greco-Roman (even Atlantis-like) influence for the underwater sections of the settlement. As well as in their formal fashion. There would likely be a tiny bit of Carribean & Okinawan influence in there too. The population is made up of Euryhaline Zora (able to survive in both salt & fresh water), Coastal Rito, & Lurelin Hylians/humans. And, much like with how I think the Zora's Domain is built, the settlement's commercial district is on land, while the Zora residential area is underwater. The Rito & human/Hylian residences, as well as the Cheiftain's home, are also on land. (For more on the specifics of this, go to Euryhaline Zora & Coastal Rito Port Town.)
Gatepost, Outpost, & East Post = These are all a package deal. These are mostly military towns, so that'll definitely factor in. They are positioned in such a way as to protect Oldcastle. Mostly inhabited by Hylians, humans, & Sheikah, but with smatterings of the other races too.
Oldcastle = The site of OoT's Castle Town, a.k.a. the Great Plateau, so there'll be some DEEP historical significance going on. As such, it's mostly Medieval Germanic & Arthurian English. Mostly inhabited by Hylians, humans, & Sheikah.

Ordon/Mayrin discussion
Small trigger warning for this discussion: talking ab parental abuse or the perception of it in the show/among the fanbase.
So in the show, do you guys see Ordon/Mayrin as abusive? I’ve spoken to some who do and honestly I just don’t see it out of the sliver of characterization we get for both (and I promise not just bc Ordon is my favorite). Like oh no he yelled at Rian when he was literally stealing and wasn’t overly affectionate what a tragedy /s. I guess you could say it’s about what he yelled, but though that wasn’t cool, it was also at work to be fair to him. If we saw him do it at home that’s a completely different story but we don’t. I’m also disregarding Rian’s “solider” line because unlike Mayrin and Seladon it sounds to be more of a feeling Rian had than it having any substantial proof such as Ordon saying so himself OUTSIDE OF WORK! Fr I see it a lot more for Mayrin since yeah she is super bad to Seladon, but she genuinely cares about her daughters a substantial amount just like Ordon. She regrets sending Tavra, properly punishes Brea, even tries to make Seladon a better ruler where she can and they hold each other accountable a lot.
Yeah, they have flaws (more than most gelfs we see), but Ordon personally leaves the guard in order to find Rian and hopefully heal him. When both learn the Skeksis are evil, they try to fight back. Idk calling them abusive to me seems a bit much, I’d classify more as misguided but if anyway has any opinions lmk what you guys think/see them as. For me atm they aren’t abusive even within a wide stretch of the imagination.

Hmmm I used to draw the Commander without his helmet with solid platinum blonde hair, like Brea
But come to think of it Gelfling with just one color like her are rare, they usually have colored touches. Just look at Jen (blue and silvery strands), Kira (green highlights), Deet (green highlights), Seladon (half of it is lavender), Tavra (pink and lavender highlights), Rian (green strands), Ordon (green strands), Gurjin (rainbow hair) and Laesid (multi colors too), for instance to just mention those he is related to in the rewriting
And it turns out Brea isn't even fully platinum blonde like I thought, she actually has lavender in the back too !
Tumblr media
So should I let him platinum blonde and nothing more pretexting all these multiple genes cancelled each other out so he has one color, or have him have some colored strands or highights like the others ?

Super Specific Linked Universe Headcanons Pt 1.
All of the Links are autistic but they all have wildly different ways of presenting it. Ask me about their special interests, please. Please.
Warriors is in his 20s. He is an Aquarius. I'm right.
Sky is the ultimate straight cis ally, but he has bi wife energy. He is best friends with Legend, and they're kind of inseparable.
Twilight is a taurus, he's cis and bisexual, but leans towards women and fem ppl (and too hung up to think about anyone but one woman)
Wild is taller than yall think, 17 or 117 whatever is more convenient for him, zelda told him his birthday is november 7th (scorpio, ofc) and he just accepts that.
Hyrule is pansexual (mostly cis but might be genderfluid, he likes to wear feminine clothes and makeup)
Four is like? 3'8, and he's 20 yo but most people don't believe him. He's a trans boy, and most of the colors are too besides vio, who I think is either genderfluid or pangender, uses all pronouns. Four is bisexual but leans towards guys, though he loves his Zelda.
Legend is 4'10, 17 yo, born december 14th at midnight. he is trans, any pronouns, and bisexual.
Ravio is same height and age as Legend, and they're both born on the same day but ravio was born at noon. This really bothers Legend, he wants his own birthday. Ravi loves it.
also ravio is gay, asian/latino, chubby and has the best smile <3
war is cis and bisexual but he leans towards women, I think he's aromantic but probably could be romantically involved with someone.
Times eyes are more gray than blue
Sky 9 times out of 10 has no clue whats going on. Stupid and confused, and its perfect.
Twilight always knows where all of them are, and I don't even know if it's just smell. He has mom instincts "where are my kids, what are they doing"
Wild got mad anger issues pls calm down babe. Kind of scary. He lets hyrule braid his hair sometimes.
Hyrules eyes are more green than blue, and he has freckles all over his face and body (jokes he ought to get a kiss for every freckle)
Whenever Wind gets mail from his little sister, he reads it to the group. He's very proud of her, and she's very proud of him. She has a bunch of big brothers now.
Four + the colors are white-asian mixed (or looks like it yk, bc he's hylian) his eyes are dark brown.
Legend goes non verbal a lot, esp when they're stressed, but when she talks, she talks. I mean, hand gestures, ranting, cussing, pointing, "and you a bitch, and you a bitch." favorite curse word is cunt.
warriors ruffle everyone's hair, and they all hate it (esp four and legend, who claims he's going to choke him with his own scarf)
Sky likes to sing and dance, and wishes more of them would dance with him.
Twilight has slept as a wolf so often that it's practically natural for him, he really prefers it. Also, he takes all of his nightwatch shifts as a wolf.
Wild will teach literally anyone about edible flora and mushrooms and such, and foraging around hyrule, if only they would listen. Sometimes talks random animals ears off about his favorite flavor combos. Sky loves to listen and ask questions.
Hyrule will hand his favorite people random stuff as "gifts" like feathers, flowers, rocks, dead bugs (he's obsessed with bugs, he loves them so so much and they're all his friends) his favorite animal is a bumblebee
i know we all agree wind swears likek a bloody sailor, bc thats what he is, but how about him using random shit for swears like, "crabs cankles," "bilge-sucking" or calling the others landlubbers. also feel like he'd be the type to say "bite me" when someone disagrees with him.
Four keeps a bunch of books in his bag, and if their reading is disturbed they all have different reactions. Blue pinches or glares, Vio ignores you unless she deems what youre saying important, red gets physically distressed, and green will actually tell you to be quiet. (blue pinches a lot actually)
Legend is a very picky eater, especially with textures, this pisses wild off (wdym you dont like it YOU HAVENT EVEN TRIED IT)
Sky's Zelda is a bisexual virgo, and she knows everything.
Malon makes very good bread. I want to shove that shit in my face ong. Also she insists on giving each of the boys big hugs when shes sees them.

Project ORDON - Concept Sketches: the Sea Ritos, Humans and the Southern Zoras.
Here is a handful of sketches that I have created so far for the Races of Ordon. As part of my much larger worldbuilding project for BotW Ordon.
The Sea Ritos are based on water birds that do aerial / dive fishing - such as terns (as seen above) and kingfishers. They are generally shorter with longer beaks compared to the raptional Ritos of Hyrule. And have a much bright and colourful appearance.
.
The Southern Zora's design is a fusion of the Twilight Princess and Breath of the World designs of the Zora race.
They come in two variants - the River Zoras who are the same height as their counterparts in the Zora's Domain but with long finned tails. The Ocean Zoras on the other hand are much larger with serpentine tails. The Southern Zora Queens are the largest of the Ocean Zoras.
(Their current Queen, Valerie XXI is actually small by Zora Queen standards as she is still quite young). I've actually posted her before in this post.
.
And lastly, the three types of humans found in Ordon (not including the Gerudo). Hylians refer to Hylians from Hyrule and distiguished by their long pointed ears. Ordonian humans are those from Ordon and distinguished by their rounded ears.
And finally, Ordon-Hylians - they are descendants of the original Hylian migrants who have intermarried with the native Ordonian humans. They are distinguished by having shorter pointed ears. Many Ordon-Hylians still follow the customs of Hyrule including the worship of the Goddess Hylia. However there are others who follow the Ordon way of life.
.
The only remaining races that I have not created concept sketches of yet are of the Ordon-Gorons and the seafaring Gerudos of Gerudo's Reach.
The general idea I had in mind for the Ordon-Gorons are that, they are much like their Twilight Princess design with the BotW style. So they appear more bulkier with tattoo-like markings and parts of its rock features are carved into stylish patterns.
The Gerudo of Gerudo's Reach are just like their Desert counterpart but are seafaring based. Especially for the merchant / pirate Gerudo.
One day, I'll get around to it...depending on how many people are interested and/or if my brain decides to get fixated on this world again.
