I gave up a while ago on writing the background of the Modern AU. I opted for the spicy funny stuff and it works well. But today I reopened the story and... I like it.

Just how, how do I do justice to Carlo? How do I get him out of there and give him that happy silly spicy life he lives now in my AU? How do I make it right? And I'm not talking about actions to get him out of there. That's easy enough.

No, I'm talking about healing his trauma. How do I heal him fairly, without erasing the struggles, the doubts, the fears, the moments he fell back, the night crying, the unsaid words? How do I guide him out of there ? How do I do him justice ?

I guess I'll try again. This story is worth telling too. Just how will I do this...

The trouble is, of course, Joker had never actually seen this particular Crane, so outside of the odd bit of Buscemi association there wasn't a lot to go on in the looks department. Which wasn't too bad, he thought, as long as they were talking the young to mid range. Even a young Buscemi sort of looked like he was 40.

But looks were only cursory to his interests. The real appeal was in such a damaged little mind, and the seeming contradictions between what the man of straw wanted and what he was willing to allow himself to have. Not to mention what people would say or think about their potential relationship, the potential for tension should the funny little hat man take issue with the advances.

It was funny, simply put. Or would be. Eventually. Perhaps.

And he was remarkably endearing for a Scarecrow. His own was sort of all gloom and doom, wouldn't be caught dead typing out girlish giggling or giving him an admittedly incredibly cute nickname.

Overall, this other Jonathan was an opportunity for a fun little game with some great prizes, something that could help kill time between crimes, maybe get a nut off here or there.

The problem seems that, of course, the dear Doctor was just a little too smart to play along with the gag. For now.
