"He didn't get much from it," he muttered. "He didn't get much from our friendship. He had little but trouble because of me. He constantly had to get me out of some scrape... help me..."' She leaned across the table, put her hand over his and squeezed it hard without saying anything. Her eyes held regret.
Blood of Elves

Incorrect Witcher Quotes
Yen: You were stabbed. Do you remember anything? Geralt: Only the ambulance ride to the hospital Yen: That wasn’t an ambulance, I drove you. Geralt: but I heard a siren. Yen: That was Jaskier screaming.

I remember my granny doing crepes and they were like fantastic. When we watched her doing it, we discovered how many eggs she was putting it and we were 😳.
"Why when I cook with my grandma recipes it doesn't taste like hers?" Add more butter in the pan. The amount of butter is rarely if ever given to you by your grandma, but I assure you that she uses a lot more than you do.

Never fails to tickle me that Geralt is just. The most jealous man ever in the books. He's jealous of Dandelion's dalliances in Little Sacrifice, he's petty and jealous and mopey when Dandelion is staying with Anarietta, he's even worse about Dandelion's quickly formed friendship with Zoltan and the dwarves, he's like one jealousy away from outright snarling and dragging Dandy off to aggressively cuddle him or something

Also, that we like the adaptation or not for its storylines etc, there is the prisme of the adaptation that is always removed of the equation. A story belongs to a period, the concepts and the ideas can be transversal, but when we adapt it to a new period, it changes, taking on consideration what they want to focus on.
Take the different King Kong adaptations for example. Their messages varies through the years, as the eye of the spectators and the creators changes too, as well as the problematics or the events of the period are in people's mind.
New ideas can emerge from the same story because it speaks to us differently from where and when we are at.
In the Witcher books, the interracial problematic is on the actuals species. Dwarves, gnomes, elves and humans. And this series adaptation chose to remove every other potential race criteria to focus on the species as well. The skin color isn't a problem in their version of the Continent, as much that it is not in the equation at all in the books.
The same applies with beauty criterias. They simply opened it to others. This just means that seduction isn't relative to only one beauty canon. Maybe Sapkowski had specific tastes - and as a woman this is sometimes hard to ignore them because some body features are reminded quite often 🤣, as well as other things - but does it change the story in the end ?
They are other problems in the show more important than the faithful "racial" color representation, in my opinion 😅.
One thing the guys who criticise Netflix for its racial diversity and in The Witcher always seem to forget
Had this discussion with this guy on Reddit again, always the same arguments, of course, the lore allegedly is all Slavic/white European. And then they pretend to care for the identity of other cultures and that they should be preserved and distinguishable and that there's Zerrikania on the continent for black people. Yes, Zerrikania, featuring so prominently in the books, right ...
What they totally seem to overlook, humans came to the continent through the Conjunction of the Spheres about 1,500 years before the events of the novels. They did not evolve on the continent through survival of the fittest. The distribution of skin colour on the continent ought to be mostly random. Yes, people who came from hot places in their original world and have a very dark skin colour as adaptation to the climate in their lost sphere of origin might prefer to settle regions like Zerrikania with a similar climate. But why wouldn't they settle in Toussaint, for example? Fringilla being dark skinned does not have to mean she has ancestors from Zerrikania and does not need to be explained in any way. Same with culture, people from all kinds of different cultures have very likely landed on the continent together and mixed their cultures while they were helping each other to survive in a totally new world. Why should there be distinct cultures related to skin colour and climate after only 1,500 years of populating the continent? A mix makes a lot more sense under these unique circumstances.
There was also a very funny thing one guy asked me when I wrote something like: Oh yes, the Korath desert is very Eastern European.
Did you know there's a desert in Poland? Yes, there actually is. We also have several "deserts" in Germany, but they are all so small, even a toddler would have difficulty getting lost in one of them 😂. Of course Sapkowski was exclusively thinking of this miniature Polish desert when he created the Korath 😂.
