I love how Arthur Lester casually throws the word “we” around wherever he goes, as if the people he’s talking to are supposed to know he’s possessed.

I love podcasts and their attitude toward religion/faith
Midnight Burger: Religion is not a reason to be a bigot. It should be encouragement to help others. With religion you should offer people comfort and support, not a tool of oppression.
Forgive me!: Religion and people involved with it are flawed. Maybe the true faith can be find in support and comfort of community around religion.
The Amelia Project: We faked deaths of multiple biblical characters and used The Bible as an advertisement pamphlet.

Obviously the structure of an episodic series often requires characters to go from 'complete strangers' to 'close friends/family' in an unusually short amount of time. I get it.
Writers need a 'new guy' in the group to ask questions about the setting that the audience can't, but still (especially in comedy shows) want the fun dynamics that come from all the main cast knowing each other super well. It's one of those functional tropes like L-Shaped Blankets where you're required to suspend your sense of disbelief.
Having said that, I love when writers choose to take this trope and retroactively justify it by later on revealing that the Seemingly Normal Everyman Character is actually as unhinged as the rest of the group— it's just that their weirdness manifests specifically as an ability to form found family dynamics with literally any group they join, almost immediately after joining.
Like, you assumed that they just fit in so well because your group has a special vibe, but then you accidentally left them in the supermarket for like five minutes and by the time you realised and went back they were already Blood Brothers with the cashier.
Characters who are like friendly dogs in that you can put them essentially anywhere, with anyone, and they will just be like “welp! Guess this is my New Family now” and just go along with it.

[ID: Two panels from Dungeon Meshi. The first scows Senshi clutching his face as tears start to spill out of his eyes, saying, "I've always... always wanted to have this soup one more time." He's not wearing his helmet in this panel, so his face is unusually visible, detailed and vulnerable. The second panel shows himself as a youngster, surrounded by his old mining team, all smiling at each other, one of them rubbing Senshi's head. Modern-day Senshi continues, "Thank you. All of you. Thank you." End ID.]
Holy shit. I anticipated some tragic backstory from the "I must feed the young ones" panels, but what I'd guessed was that Senshi might have become so devoted to cooking and eating literally whatever because he'd previously survived a famine and had seen children starve to death. I did not expect him to have been the child who was the sole survivor of a doomed travel party, one of whom was determined to feed Senshi first because he was the youngest, and that Senshi has lived with the fear of having inadvertently committed cannibalism by eating stew that he'd never quite known the contents of. I'm happy for him that Laios deduced and confirmed for him that it was griffin meat, that he was able to taste the meal that saved his life once more and remember the friends he lost. Seriously, I'm crying, and also earnestly relieved that while his backstory is pretty dark, it's not the type of fucked up I'd been preparing myself mentally for.

man not to read too much into spahr's "there was a reason i picked him" about phineas but. i am always keeping in mind that spahr pulled phineas out of the delta personally. he didn't meet phineas as a prospective adsecla he met him as a scared little kid! maybe it wasn't so much that spahr actually thought phineas was the best choice as that he really wanted to believe he was. maybe without even being aware of it! how could he not want to believe in the rags to riches of it all? something that started with that scared little kid HE was able to help save? a tangible representation--beyond valor--of something good he did? but now of course that whole narrative has crumbled around him! phineas did something horrible (that was all spahr's fault as far as he's concerned) and now phineas is dead! that's it! story over! :)

tw: mentions of assault
Listen, I get some people may not like Alicent and have reasons for not doing so and all. That's fine, you do you (within reason). However, what is really gross is to use that dislike for her as means to make jokes about her assault, whether through Viserys or Larys, but especially Larys. Like saying things like "oh but she gets to sell feet pics" or take her words of the Targaryens having queer customs (which they do, that wasn't a lie, everyone in Westeros knows they do) and acting like that foot scene discredits her, even though it's very obvious that she's very uncomfortable and that Larys frightens her (there are other scenes that show she does not like him and that he's a creep), all of this is gross. It also paints assault in a joking light, which should never happen. And this is such a disgustingly common thing that I see happen in the ASOIAF fandom for many of the female characters, some who are popular and some who aren't depending on who you ask, that it makes my skin crawl. And another thing, it's even more sinister seeing people who say they stand on the side of feminism, but then make fun of a female character being assaulted. Just say that your "feminism" only extends to the team/characters that you like and go.

I’m gonna be strange in ur askbox …
Pheobe and Melody thoughts!! uh mm m
pheobe knows that she’ll never see Melody again. At least not for a while.
But she’ll talk to her. Even if she can’t hear her.
“Uh.. if you can hear me in the fabric of the universe, I miss you.”
And she’ll ramble on and on about what’s going on in her life. Maybe she’ll cry a little. Maybe she’ll cry a LOT.
can melody hear her from the other side? Maybe . Pheobe hopes she can.
Melody can hear her and listens to every word. Melody memorizes all of what Pheobe says. Melody will memorize what Pheobe says beat for beat and play the melody (get it?) in her head over and over again when she misses that damn ghostbuster.
Melody wishes she stayed, sometimes.
Melody wishes she didn’t let go, sometimes.
It gnaws at her spirit - it gnaws at the peace she feels in passing on.
But Pheobe is reminded of Melody’s weaving into the fabric of the universe when it’s the perfect temperature outside, when she gets a rush of adrenaline, when nights are quiet and she can work in peace.
Melody sprinkles little things into the world, just for her Pheobe.
The stars shine a little brighter and maybe for a little bit , Pheobe feels whole again.
you make me sick. thank you for sharing. im ill. (all /pos) UUGHAAHNFGG you GET IT. PHOEBE AND MELODY are THEEEE doomed yuri. the way that this relationship will irreparably affect her for the rest of her life. moving on is hard enough, but knowing that you were in love with a GHOST GIRL and you see her in EVERYTHING you do. phoebe takes doomed yuri and ramps it up a little 😭😭😭
i read something that was similar recently. i forgot where. but phoebe would talk about her feelings when she things no one is listening but secretly hope melody is listening. it helps her move on, even if she knows logically melody is gone. but is she really? she's in everything. she was everything. tells her about her day, about her family. how things get better, get easier, get worse sometimes. healing has never been a linear process after all :')
and then on the other side, melody :''') manifesting good things for phoebe. partially because of the tiny tugging guilt melody has for her lack of honesty - because phoebe had grown on her. she goes out of her way to just make the world a little bit lighter, a little bit kinder, more beautiful. phoebe grows a fondness for the moon, for the stars in the sky. for the warm evenings and cloudy mornings, for the busy-ness of new york city.
phoebe makes an effort to go to melody's diner routinely. she becomes a regular. she just misses her. so much.
(i accidentally KEPT rambling in the tags. i didnt mean to T_T)
