The shape/xreader/the pig

It's back to the fire after the match. You aren't excited to face your teammates this round, shoulders launching forward to make yourself smaller and thus impose on the group's attention. No doubt there will be some half bitten off sentences and acidic comments about you.

You deserve such.

Unlike Meg, your speed isn't the refined muscle of months of labor but reliant on the candle wick of fear that burns hot and fast when a match begins. You've always been an easy scare. Saying this. You are known to be not so quick to help your teammates. It's pure cowardice that you freely admit you're at fault for. Offering your position up for others to escape is admirable in a moral world. However the entity's realm isn't that.

One of the Legion bagged you this match. However, before that you'd kept quiet while Kate screamed in familiar agony. You had all the chances to help her.

A grudge is there, a physical wall to you making friends. They teeter on feeling pity for your obvious inadequacy and vitriol.

Nea asks you a question. " What do you think about the new guy? Terrifying right?" Nea bless her heart, tries to bring you into the fold.

The man, if you could call him that, is a unit of solid muscle and steel. "He's big." You say. Best to keep it short.

She snorts and lays her chin down.

This is the fullest the circle has ever been. Laurie, poor thing, is spaced off looking tired as usual. She's one of the only people kind to you. That's on part because your selfishness has limits when it comes to the younger group members.

They really are just kids. It burns the back of your throat that they are here, the entity is a merciless God. When it comes to the teens, whatever distraction they need to get away from a killer you provide.

She absently gives you a smile.

You open your arms and she timidly sinks into them taking the comfort you offer silently.

Feeling the eyes of other survivors on you, the woods look more tempting by the second. You haven't dared explore them yet but now's as good a chance as any.

"I'll be back."

A chorus of acknowledgements and you march off.

Stepping in the branches reach for you. The crackle of the fire grows distant. The woods are overall silent. Eerie but what here isn't so?

Snapp walks these woods and so does Ash. Usually joking and wishing for a beer.

You miss home. Wherever home is. Memories are foggy. Some part if you isn't sure that you had a life outside.

Whenever they talk about the outside world they do so with yearning, recalling putting up feet on the dashboard of a cherry red car, drinking smoothies, studying, sneaking into a movie theater, skateboarding down a hill with the sun on their back and breeze cradling their smiles.

You don't have that.

So alone. No one to hold.

People at camp fuck. A common secret that everyone keeps low. They savor the serotonin a quick orgasm gives them and chase the feeling of being in a better place, less blood, more sunshine. A grown woman like you should be taking these escapades too.

You haven't had the chance nor the urge to seek a partner of your own.

A familiar pant of breath grazes your ear. Myers. You turn to the camp and make a mad dash for safety. Crying out for Ash or-

Your throat is seized by an ironclad grip. Knocking your temple hard against a thick trunk of wood. Skin scraped off as easily as butter.

Already you're sobbing and tossing your head about, the pain. You're not ready for the pain.

The sticky blood trickles down to his hand in what you imagine is a common feeling. You pant.

"Please don't…" but he sticks his knife to your side with little fanfare. The answering scream is brutal, belts your throat. No matter how many times it happens the stab comes with all the same shock and pain as the very first one. A hot slide as it glides deep into meat, grazing bone, you can barely muster the strength to beg over the pain.

But it's a chore to him. No burst of interest or pleasure when he thrusts it in deeper.

You cradle the back of his shoulder. Fist grabbing the jumpsuit. Futile.

You go limp, without will or fight. The pain doesn't cease

Your shirt is a caked rag. Your skirt is a hiked belt over your stomach. Covering nothing. You would have noticed except the piercing hurt overcomes all other sensation.

He doesn't miss this.

It's an alianting feeling that sticks out like an awful squishy bruise against emotions such as anger, annoyance, disdain

It's calling his name, tugging at his pinky. This way. Come here. The voices are murmuring, hissing in response, grudging recognition.

What is this sudden shift?

He twists.

Blood bubbles out.

A female voice. Cold. Unaffected, branches through. "What are you doing?"

But like fog his form turns insolid. Gone.

You lie there with the pain as a bedfellow, shake it off your still in danger your mind screams. You manage a jolt upwards.

Looking for the voice among the branches proves futile as does cupping waterver blood seeps out the wound. A figure is formed in the fog, shockingly crimson.

"We can't kill you outside the match." The Pig. Her voice barely registers in the aftermath. Coppery stream slides down your throat in a warm spill, the only thing warm in your body.

"Thank you." It's strange to say that to someone that has killed you before. You smooth down your skirt over chilled thighs and thumb the edges.

The pig mask is a gruesome sight but strangely less so than the man you were faced with earlier.

She lunges close. Snarling. "But we can hurt you as much as we want."

You stumble blind into the light of the campfire. A sound, soft chuckling follows.

Exclamations of concern meet you. Ash guides you down onto a mat to look over the damage.

Your mind replays the chuckle and feel of light brown hair when entering sleep. Your dreams, usually blank and too exhausted to come up with a scene, now have a personal mind real with a front row seat.

The two killers you met in the woods are there. Not hinting you, but watching, always watching

ok, so.

I made a youtube video, of me narrating Ashita no Joe episode 4.

I was wondering for awhile if it would be ok to upload a video that’s just directly an anime episode of Ashita no Joe.

I thought partly, maybe it would be ok, since that anime came out like before 1970 or something so maybe it’s free domain,

but nah. It is blocked. I can’t find the video at all.

but, that isn’t going to stop me..

I will do the impossible, (even though I am depressed, about someone I know. irl)

and narrate Ashita no Joe episode 4.

I made a whole video of me narrating it with my voice. but it’s blocked aaaa. I refuse to let it go, though.

yes we printed this article cuz .. you’re trustworthy and popular but Joe is just an unpopular guy who helps out orphans and gives his money away to help out orphans

ya know how when I watched the first 11 episode with [won’t say but the guy that begins with Sau and ends with ce that I was friends with for 15 years and he kept making fun of it multiple times in the chat saying “More like a shit a joe.”] well these guys are like wow Joe is a delinquent cuz he is helping out orphans

wow Yabuki Joe used an alt account or some shiz and made a complete lie to try to help society for the better like making a peaceful game and then I mean boxing I mean waterver and then

no one believes ni the main character Joe who is LITERALLY helping out local orphans; and they’re basically like just jealous of him and twisting the truth to make him look bad is what these snobby popular people are doing t hat actually have friends unlike the wondering loner Joe Yabuki,

this very popular snobby lady who actually has friends unlike ab- Yabuki Joe doesn’t care that Joe is actually being helpful and wants to make projects that will bring peace to this world, she will not give him a chance because she cares more about appearances and keeping up her reputation.

....She takes on the full pressure and responsibilty. But can she handle it?

but family isn’t what matters, everyone has family,

what matters is that you all still have a poor reputation because you have no friends which I think is 100% ok but the stuck-up lady who hates Joe for some reason atm just cares about how they’re rich in [deleted snarky remarks] reputation.

stop caring about the dislikes and haters and appreciate the supporters that you do have;;.

I hate how he thinks, I hate is confidence about everything, I hate the way he talks about everything I love. But he is sure we are going to end up together.

He wants me to fall in love with him, like it's a game. He doesn't even love me. He gives me stupid surname and I tell him to stop, like this could work. He thinks he posses me, that he can do waterver he wants with me and I will say yes. I fucking hate it when he talks. He makes me want to run and listen to the river going away to the sea.

But it's my home we are in and my bed we are sleeping in, so I let him tell his shitty tales for the night, at least I won't be sleeping alone.

I don't want to see him anymore. But I can't stand sleepping alone.

Het koffiebezoek na de kerk op zondagochtend was een overduidelijk vervolg op het gesprek dat Steven die vrijdagochtend al met zijn vader had gehad.

‘Ohhh shit,’ zei hij, toen hij zijn ouders zag aankomen. ‘We gaan nu mijn vaders gezellige zondagochtend waarom-zitten-jullie-niet-in-de-kerk gesprek krijgen.’

Fenne moest ervan lachen. ‘Hoe weet je dat nou?’

‘Dat zie ik gewoon aan hem.’ Hij maakte er een grapje van.

‘Niet waar!’

‘Oké, niet waar, ik was deze week gewoon niet handig genoeg en liet een heel fijn gesprek uitlopen op dit onderwerp. En dit wordt het vervolg, dus.’

‘Oh… maar dat is toch oké,’ zei Fenne. ‘Je vader zit daar mee Steven, ik begrijp best dat hij daar over wil praten. Ze grinnikte. ‘Dat is zijn plicht, als vader, tot zijn dood aan toe, om zijn afvallige zoon weer terug te krijgen in de kerk.’

Steven trok een moeilijk gezicht. ‘Hou je mond, heks. Jij begrijpt het ook nog, dat is eng!’

Ze lachte hem uit, liet zijn ouders binnen. En hij had gelijk.

‘We zaten in de kerk, en we dachten, we moeten er toch maar weer eens over beginnen,’ zijn vader viel met de deur in huis.

‘Leuk dat jullie er zijn.’ Steven kuste zijn moeder.

Terwijl Steven de verwachte preek van zijn vader over zich heen kreeg, verdween Fenne tot drie keer toe uit de kamer omdat de telefoon ging en Steven de kans niet had om hem op te nemen. Ze keek boos. ‘Fuck, oh… sorry,’ zei ze de laatste keer, doorbrak daarmee zijn vaders rede voor drie hele heerlijke rustige seconden.

‘Wat is er?’ Toen ze weer de kamer in kwam wilde hij toch echt weten wat ze voor geweldig excuus had om steeds de kamer uit te rennen.

‘The little pillhead is missing. Dat waren zijn ouders, zijn stagebegeleider en de politie, hell I don’t know where he is, waarom bellen ze ons daarvoor? Maar nu jullie er toch zijn en we het over de kerk hebben, wat ik nou wil weten is: staat alles vast of niet? Want als alles vaststaat, hoe moet het dan met mijn vrije keuze, ik bedoel, ik wil gewoon niet accepteren dat als ik een keuze maak dat er dan automatisch een gevolg aan vast zit geplakt en als ik die keuze niet maak ook, maar ik zou het ook eng vinden als ik eigenlijk helemaal niets zelf kan beslissen omdat het niets uitmaakt, want wat je ook beslist, het gevolg komt toch en vaak denk ik dat het toch wel zo in elkaar zit omdat alles dan zo mooi uitkomt en je denkt: oh my god, wat bizar dat dit nu allemaal gebeurt en dan heb je het gevoel dat het gewoon zo moet zijn, dat het zo bedoeld is, kunnen jullie daar wat mee?’ Ze haalde adem, keek zijn ouders verwachtingsvol aan, liet een net zo verwachtingsvolle stilte vallen.

Steven onderdrukte een lachbui. Deze vraag knalde er zo ongestructureerd uit omdat ze overduidelijk nog wat anders aan haar hoofd had na drie telefoontjes over een vermiste tiener. Hij mocht er niet om lachen, ook omdat ze er al een tijd mee liep. Maar het was hilarisch. Zijn vader was totaal van zijn à propos. Zijn mond zakte open van deze enorme waterval aan tekst.

‘Tja…’ Zijn vader doorbrak de stilte, aarzelend.

‘Zo,’ zei zijn moeder. ‘Geef jij daar maar eens antwoord op.’ Ze glimlachte geamuseerd.

‘…Misschien moet je eens met de dominee praten hierover…’ Zijn vader klonk nog steeds niet erg overtuigd van zichzelf.

Fenne fronste haar wenkbrauwen. ‘Dus jullie weten het niet,’ concludeerde ze. ‘… Jammer, weet je, ik loop hier al zo lang over na te denken, er gebeuren bij ons zoveel dingen die geen toeval meer kunnen zijn, of juist weer wel, en dan denk ik, ik zal toch niet de enige zijn die dit wil weten en er zijn toch vast mensen die hebben uitgedacht hoe dit zit en wat vinden die er dan van en vind ik dat dan acceptabel, of moet ik het maar gewoon accepteren omdat het niet anders is…’ De telefoon ging weer. ‘Oh my god!’ zei ze geïrriteerd. ‘Zo kun je toch geen normaal gesprek voeren.’

‘Zal ik hem maar aannemen?’ zei Steven hoopvol.

‘Nee, praat jij maar met je vader, dat is belangrijk.’

‘Heks,’ dacht hij wraakzuchtig.

‘Denkt ze altijd zo over dingen na?’ zei zijn vader.

Steven moest nu toch echt lachen. ‘Ja altijd.’

‘…En dan hebben jullie ook van dit soort gesprekken?’

‘Ja vaak,’ grinnikte hij.

‘Mijn hemel.’ Zijn vader zette grote ogen op.

Wat een wonder, ze had hem sprakeloos gemaakt.

as w most things with sugary, this log gets a bit sketchy. beware of: talk of keeping trolls as pets, threatening harm to them, general threats and fear and intimidation, mentions of severe injury (blood loss). there’s a brief mention in narration at the beginning of possible harm coming to children but it never happens.

the necessary background is as follows: sugary has been reverted to her mindset from a handful of years ago, when she was Super Not Good, and currently is keeping Xanthe and Val on her ship as “pets”. up until recently she had also been keeping Bodencus, for the unusual color of his blood, but then decided to send him home - not without draining most of his blood. after being alerted to this, feli went to go help him, since they’re quadmates, and this conversation with xanthe happened. Breed se roadtrip wenke

Oraait, so ek vertrek oor vier dae op my eerste solo-roadtrip. Dit is iets waaroor ek al vir jare droom en waaraan ek al menigde oggende (terwyl ek eintlik moes werk) al gedagdroom en pseudo-beplan het. Google-maps weet al wanneer ek gaan soek na verlate Weskus-dorpies of versteekte kroeë in die laeveld. Ek het Suider Afrika ook al platgery agter die belaglikste verskonings en avonture aan. Maar hierdie keer is anders - hierdie keer pak ek my grootste avontuur alleen aan en ek is eerlikwaar doodsbevrees. Ek is nie ‘n alleen-mens nie. Ek raak verveeld na ‘n halfuur van eensaamheid en is dikwels altyd omring met vriende of familie waarmee ek kan onsin praat. SO in die gees van voorbereiding het ek besluit om ‘n lys te maak van al die lesse wat ek al geleer het op ons kontinent se stowwerige paaie - meer vir myself as enigiets anders, maar as iemand kan baat vind hierby sal ek verheug wees. So without further ado - Breed se roadtrip wenke:

Jy gaan ‘n voertuig nodig hê. Sonder een is enige roadtrip donners lank. Jou voertuig hoef nie groot, nuut, fancy of duur te wees nie - hy hoef nie eers noodwendig vier wiele te hê nie. Die belangrikste is dat hy/sy 'n naam moet hê. Dis soos 'n skip - dis noodlottige slegte geluk om jou kar onbenoemd te laat. My persoonlike voertuig is ‘n charcoal Fiesta met die naam Themba. Vernoem na Themba Bavuma, want hy is klein, donker en ongelooflik rats. Terwyl ons op hierdie punt is, maak seker jou voertuig is gereed vir die trip. Coldplay, Mumford and Sons en The Killers is die absolute minimum wat op jou playlist moet verskyn. Enigeiets waarmee jy kan saamsing of wat jou laat voel asof jy in jou eie music video is sal loop. Lees op oor die belangrikste besienswaardighede asook enige pubs, clubs, restaurante en ander lekker plekke. As jy die raamwerk daar gestel het is jy dan vry om te doen net wat die hel jy wil terwyl jy daar is. Moenie daaroor worry as jy ‘n padstal sien wat tant Anna se nastergal konfyt adverteer en jy voel jy kan nie langer lewe as jy dit nie geproe het nie. Trek af. Koop ses. Vra vir tant Anna of sy ‘n lekker potbrood resep het wat saam met die konfyt kan gaan. Beplan die lewende wit waks uit jou trip uit, dan kan jy met ‘n oop gemoed van die bestemde roete afbliksem.

Neem fotos. Jy hoef nie ‘n duur kamera met ‘n lens soos ‘n Royal Artillery howitzer te hê nie (alhoewel dit seker help). Ek vind my heil in die ingeboude kameratjie in my LGD slimfoon om die natuurskoon wat ek sien vas te vang. Ons lewe in een van die mees diverse en pragtige lande in die wêreld en jou mense gaan wil sien waar jy was. DIs ook nie sleg om iets op sosiale media te laai en te sien hoe die likes inrol nie. Neem vir jou allerlei mediese verbruiksware saam soos hoofpynpille, oogdruppel, pleisters, ontsmetmiddele, muskietgoed, sonroom, rennies (vir nadat jy potbrood en nastergalkonfyt gevreet het) en enigiets anders wat jy dink jy dalk moontlik vir een of ander rede miskien kan nodig kry. Wees eerder oorversigtig.

Praat met die locals. Dis die rede hoekom jy reis. As jy die opinies van klomp Gautengers wou hoor kon jy in Gauteng gebly het. As jy Durban toe gaan moet jy ‘n bunny eet, beleef waaroor regte Cape Malay kossies gaan in Kaapstad en probeer sommer ‘n Gatsby terwyl jy daar is. Eet seekos op die Weskus en drink wyn in Stellenbosch. Gee jouself oor.

Moenie te veel klere saamvat nie. Onthou, jeans kan nie vuil raak nie so jy kort net een paar. ‘n Kortbroek kan ook meer as een keer aangetrek word en jy benodig waarskynlik nie drie baadjies nie. ‘n Hoed is wel ‘n moet. Een paar gemaklike skoene.

ESSENTIAL AMINO ACIDS + SOURCES OF PROTEIN

Happy Monday!

There are tons of protein supplements out there. Tons. Whether they promise to help you lose weight, build muscle mass, or become an unstoppable machine, they exist in frighteningly large amounts and intimidate the you-know-what out of everyone.

So what’s the deal? How do you know if a protein supplement is any good?

There’s a way of classifying proteins based on their amino acid content. Protein sources that contain adequate amounts of all the essential amino acids (histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, tryptophan, threonine, and valine… HILL MP TTV, for short) are considered completeproteins. Protein sources that don’t contain enough of the essential amino acids, or don’t contain all of them, are considered incompleteproteins.

There are some foods that are considered complete proteins. Meats are a handful of them. There are also plant foods that are complete proteins, such as soy and quinoa.

Not all plant foods are complete proteins. Beans and rice, for example, are incomplete proteins on their own (rice is low in lysine and beans are low in methionine) but when paired together make a complete protein meal.

If you’re choosing a protein source, it’s important to know which ones are well-rounded and can help you build and maintain muscle mass more effectively.

The increase in muscle protein synthesis after eating animal-based proteins is associated with a quick rise in essential amino acids in the blood plasma. Leucine appears to be an important amino acid in particular. Plant-based proteins don’t seem to have the same speed in producing muscle proteins when they’re eaten, thought to be caused by their lower essential amino acid content and lower amounts of specific amino acids like leucine, lysine and methionine. All amino acids are needed in order to produce muscle proteins, and when one or more is missing this compromises the body’s ability to do so.

Plant proteins, however, are recommended as being included in the diet more often because of their positive impact on sustainability and lower costs to produce (also they taste delicious and are stuffed full of fibre).

So which plant proteins are “better”?

After a super complicated (and highly interesting) procedure to separate and detect the amino acids in different protein isolates (a single protein source, often used in a supplement), researchers were able to measure the amounts of essential amino acids and determine the completeness of the protein.

In terms of overall content, hemp, lupin (a native European legume, like soy), oat and corn had lower protein, and brown rice, pea, potato and wheat had higher protein.

When it comes to the essential amino acids, oat, lupin, wheat, hemp and microalgae actually fell below the WHO/FAO/UNU amino acid requirements to be considered complete. Essentially, if only one of those protein sources was consumed, it wouldn’t provide all of the amino acids needed. The plant-based proteins that did meet these requirements were soy, brown rice, pea, corn and potato. You could technically consume these proteins as a single source and get all of the amino acids you need to stimulate muscle protein production.

For leucine content (that one amino acid which seems to be important for building and maintaining muscle tissue), plant-based proteins were lower on average compared to animal-proteins.

How much would you have to eat to get all of the amino acids (10.9 grams of essential amino acids or 2.7 grams of leucine)?

Between 20 and 54 grams of plant-based protein would need to be consumed to get this amount of amino acid, but it can vary between sources. For example, you would need to eat 105 grams of hemp powder to get enough essential amino acids or leucine. You can see how adding more of the protein to make it more complete doesn’t always work out as well as you think.

A good way to make sure you’re getting enough and the right combination of protein and amino acids is to combine sources. It also gives you more variety in your diet (and probably tastes more interesting).

When patients ask me about using protein drinks or supplements, I try to make sure the protein is just that: a supplement. Meaning the remainder of the meal or snack should be as nutrient-dense as possible in other areas, like whole grains and fruits or veggies. Adding a bit of protein powder to a fruit smoothie in the morning is a great way to boost protein content to an otherwise pretty limited meal. A protein powder plus a full meal with a meat or dairy or plant protein is a bit unnecessary. And while after a workout protein powder soundslike a great idea, protein alone doesn’t do as well of a job in building muscle mass (add a carb food first!)
