Knocked on my upstairs neighbor’s door to ask them to keep down the noise since it’s after 10pm and they called the cops on me. I’m fortunate that the cops did not find me at all intimidating in my sleep shorts and bathrobe so they just left. But Jesus I am not looking forward to having to ever deal with these people again. Or explaining this to the property manager in case it becomes A Thing (tm).

The tl;dr of my previous post would be this:

1. MLP FIM went on for so long that the writers were forced to resolve the conflicts that had previously driven the characters, sapping them of momentum.

2. Being so fixated on friendship ended up hurting the show. Instead of just having friendship letters as a cute framing device for the moral, they started to tie everything to “friendship” even if it didn’t make sense (the school) or had uncomfortable implications (the map).

3. Discord sucks ass, turn that bitch back into a statue

that's not how clan mothers work btw, please stop talking about the concept as though you're amazed by this omgwtfbbq speshul society where women - gasp - have a voice because you're so used to women being beaten down that the mere notion of women being treated with respect is somehow revolutionary to you.

to put it in American terms, clan mothers are a branch of the government that function as a checks and balances system. they have the power to condole or depose of chiefs, and you can only receive your traditional name if your clan mother stands up for you.

like... it mostly has to do with women's connection to the earth. traditionally, it was women who did the farming, who planted the three sisters. it's also women who carry on languages.

and yes, I won't lie, there is some gender essentialism there with connections to motherhood. but at the same time, it's not like we don't acknowledge trans people. or men. we make it a point with the naming ceremony to give men a voice so that women's voices don't drown them out. faithkeepers can be of any gender, although the wording is more along the lines of "a virtuous man."

that's the whole point of our society. everyone is equal and therefore bears equal responsibilities.

but then you get people who are like "whoa now, you mean you guys don't beat or rape your women? holy shit :o"

and I am not lying about that, in case you're inclined to say I'm exaggerating - colonists at the time expressed surprise at the zero amounts of rape they witnessed among the Haudenosaunee. funny how that's what happens when you treat women like people and not objects huh.

also, the notion that experts claim "maize" - we didn't even call it that lol - "led" (not influenced, LED) to the establishment of the Haudenosaunee is comical, because to me it reads an awful lot like "Jesus' adoption of bread as a staple crop led to the establishment of Christianity." it was all THE CROPS' DOING.
