I like the Toriko x Pokemon AU, how about Toriko's interactions and reactions to us and our pokemon? Does he meet us during the Gararagator event?
TORIKO X POKEMON
Meeting Toriko
You will meet Toriko after the Garagator events that he and Komatsu had been through, like the Rainbow Fruit Arc or the Puffer Fish Arc.
I will make a separate fic/headcanon that is similar question to this but with all the Heavenly Kings and with specific pokemon for them to meet, like/are similar to but for now, lets focus on Toriko.
I always like to imagine your meeting with him during the two arcs that I had mentioned, specifically one about the adventures they have in getting the Rainbow Fruit.
The hot sun shine warmly upon your outing with your in all but blood brother, Komatsu at the Central Gourmet Wholesale Market where you had decided to give him a suprise visit two days ago and have a fun time together just like old times with your Pokémon. It was the battle for the fittest when you had announce to your hundreds of companions that you are going to visit Komatsu and are bringing some of them along for the trip.
Many are eagered to jump to the chance to meet their short chef friend again!
Which lead with you trying to evade a stampede of pokémon running all over the place to get a spot on the trip.
In the end, you had decided to bring one of your little Milceries along that had gotten very close to Komatsu, Appletun, Meganium, and Mimikyu, since it was left in the dust and you wanted to give it a little more attention.
Komatsu was bewildered two days ago at the news he got from one of the waiters about a someone waiting for them at the dining hall during minutes before closing, with two beasts that they cant recognized. One being a floating cream and the other a turtle-like beast with a crust as a shell.
Those descriptions were familiar to him as he went out to see who was waiting for him, in which it turned out to be you!
You two had chatted from evening until morning, yesterday 'till today, where you had catch up of what you two were doing so far in life as your pokémon enjoyed the food that you had both made for them all. If you two were outing in a outdoor eating establishment with your partners eating away the food in joy, people will stare and be shock at such strange Gourmet beasts. They have never seen something like them before.
One of them even teases about you two buying food for a doll until they realize it is actually alive!
The last day of your staying kinda took a turn when Komatsu was called for work to go to the Gourmet Market with an IGO Chief named Johannes, who came for something involving an ingredient.
Now, you have heard of the IGO, and their work, but you dont exactly put them in the lime light or any sort of light whatsoever. The organization kinda reminded you of some that are similar, but the name alone being spoken through your mouth made you feel like a pit is in your stomach, making you uncomfortable and uneasy. Yet, nonetheless, you just view them neutrally.
The same feeling came back when you look around the market. The place made you quasi whenever you see so many Gourmet beasts being sold and displayed out in the open. Back in your home world of pokemon, it never was like this Gourmet market place since majority of everyone in the planet is vegetarian with very little meat eaten. Even when meat is eaten, it never was sold like...this. Even after years of being here in this strange and unique of the Gourmet age, you will never understand some of it's customs.
"She's spunky" as you and Komatsu watch Tina, a news reporter for the "Gourmet News", switch personalities between on and off camera and being dragged away to prevent any toruble from intervening IGO business, you finally meet the man your brother has been talking about, Toriko.
Toriko didnt exactly felt any different to any of the Gourmet hunters you meet prior today, but his aura...it didnt take a genius to knew that this man is strong, and its not because of how he carried that Underbite Dragon . The Milcery, who was floating beside Komatsu had let out a cry and hid behind his head from the aura she had felt. Appletun, on the other hand, took a few steps back away from Toriko, feeling wary from what he felt in the man. Meganium and Mimikyu, who are in their pokeballs, shook abit.
It seems your Pokémon, too, had felt the aura...
There wasnt much interaction between you and Toriko. Komatsu had introduced the Heavenly King to once he had realize you are there.
Toriko was very curious about the creatures you have. He had never seem them before or recognise them from any data or encounter he had. The smell of Appletun quickly invaded his nose. It smells so good! The Heavenly King already had taken a swipe of pie skin from Appletun and ate it with a delighted moan from the taste, much to you and Komatsu's shock! He later on apologises but...
HE EVEN HAVE THE ODESCITY TO ASK TO HAVE A TASTE OF THEM!!!
It took all you could to stop yourself from growling and running away from the man as possible and preventing Appletun from using Dragon Rage on the man upon hearing the comment!
He may be an Apple Pie, and he may let it slide of Toriko taking a bite, but this dragon is one where you should earn it's respect!
This action kinda increase your thoughts subconsciously about Gourmet hunters being nothing but killers and eaters. Yes, we have to kill to eat food and to survive but the amount of animals at the market and how many times Gourmet hunters had come and try to hunt your pokemon back home....
It wasnt pretty.
Gourmet Tamers (atleast, he thinks you are one) are rare. And they dont just come off as genuine or great as they come but Toriko was definetly impressed and interested in hearing and meeting you and these so called "Pokémon" in person.
There were rumours from other Gourmet Hunters that he had heard from have told the same thing over and over again : how bloodthirsty and ruthless you are with your unimaginable beasts that could rivaled the 8 kings of the Gourmet World.
They werent entirely wrong. The way you have strategically ordered your pokemon through the Troll Kongs with Meganium's sun bean and vines, Milcery's attract, and Appletun's bullet seeds. Toriko raised a brow when he saw you releasing Mimikyu, a small rugged clotheds...thing, in front of the Kongs that were shaking and even slightly backing away...
You soon later on, after Toriko decided to use Knocking instead of killing one of the Troll Kongs, had learned that he may not be exactly like those Gourmet hunters you meet. He may eat alot like when he had eaten a thousand dishes at the Gourmet Hotel, is a glutton, loves big juicy beasts but he has his morals in hunting, and that is to kill what he wents to eat, not for the thrill.
You may have gotten a new shine in the Gourmet Hunters....for now.
OMG...this is so long! I might gonna redo this but man, this was long so I hope I have answered tou questions! And sorry for the long wait...i have gotten lazy and busy at the same time due to me being tired from school. But I am back! 😀

So I'm going to answer some of these questions cause there aren't a lot of questions, and I think it would be better to answer them not as an ask game.
🐉 - What was the very first submission you received? Regieleki from Pokemon! Not what I'd expect to be the first submission, but unfortunately, pikachu beat them out.
🔐- What was the last submission you received before closing the submissions? Serenade.exe from Mega man Battle Network! Unfortunately, they didn't make it out of the preliminary round.
👵- Who is the oldest/most ancient character/media source/object or event, that was submitted? There a few mythology and irl animal submissions that are definitely old, but when it comes to a character from a story intended for pure entertainment, it would be the Big Bad Wolf from The Three Little Pigs. I looked it up, and the first publication of the story was in 1840, but the story might be much older since it is a fairytale.
🌪️ - Who/what did you have in mind when you started the tournament? When it first started, I was a lot more stingy on who or what could be in. But, as more submissions kept coming in, I had to let go of some things in regards of what is allowed.
🤠 - Which media did you discover through the submissions that you now want to watch/read/play/other yourself? Less "discovered" but more "rediscovered" and that would be Bionicle. I was pretty young during g1 Bionicle's run but I do remember having at least one of the toys as a kid. I also remember watching the "The Legend Reborn" movie multiple times as a kid and I played the flash games on the Lego website a lot too. A few Bionicle characters were submitted and, while reading their wikis, I was really fascinated by the lore. Like omg Bionicle lore is so deep and good y'all! I'm not that deep in, and I haven't really consumed much Bionicle media yet, but I rewatched that movie I mentioned before and now, with a lot more context, I can fully understand and appreciate that movie!
💗 - Did you submit characters (or whatever the tournament is about) yourself, to your own tournament? (not forced to say who it was) I did! here is the list:
Lewyn Fire Emblem
Azelle Fire Emblem
Ishtar Fire Emblem
Canas Fire Emblem
Lucius Fire Emblem
Lyon Fire Emblem
Terra Brandford Final Fantasy VI
Celes Chere Final Fantasy VI
Blaziken Pokemon
Tornadus Pokemon
Greninja Pokemon
Splashmon Digimon
AncientMermaimon Digimon
Duskmon Digimon
Bloomlordmon Digimon
Rosemon Digimon
Floramon Digimon
AncientWisemon Digimon
Meramon Digimon
Dark Magician Yu-Gi-Oh
Metatron Megami Tensei
Odin Megami Tensei
Gotsumon Digimon
Tumblemon Digimon
Leafeon Pokemon
Onua Bionicle
Lewa Bionicle
Kopaka Bionicle
Gali Bionicle
Pohatu Bionicle
Nikila Bionicle
Dume Bionicle
Jaller Bionicle
Lhikan Bionicle
Norik Bionicle
Vakama Bionicle
Hewkii Bionicle
Onewa Bionicle
Pouks Bionicle
Bomonga Bionicle
Nuparu Bionicle
Whenua Bionicle
Iruini Bionicle
Kongu Bionicle
Lesovikk Bionicle
Gaaki Bionicle
Hahli Bionicle
Helryx Bionicle
Kualus Bionicle
Matoro Bionicle
Nuju Bionicle
Darkrai Pokemon
Meganium Pokemon
Fiona Mayfield Arcana Heart
Metalman.exe Megaman Battle Network
Micaiah Fire Emblem
Angemon Digimon
I did mention before that I submitted characters after the form closed, and I didn't double up on characters, so these were all single submissions. I submitted characters because: 1. certain elements didn't have a lot of characters, so I just wanted to make sure that these elements could actually be in the tourney. 2. I like Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy, Pokemon, Digimon, and Megami Tensei, so I wanted more characters from those franchises to be in the preliminaries. rip fire emblem 3. I was on a bonkle high

Hi, Jil!! Just popping in because of your tags on my fic asdfghjkl
I did write "this one is for my Pokémon mutuals" with the thought "specifically Jil" in parentheses in my head--you're like ... my main Pokémon mutual. Gotta share some breadcrumbs of Aria/Eusine with THE Pokémon mutual, of course.
Also Eusine is a fairly arrogant character--he's very proud of his knowledge of myths (oh no ... a man who likes history ... and me having a history degree ... how could I resist ... /lh) and does tend to dismiss others when they try to correct him. He's not as dismissive of Aria or Morty, though, because ... *childhood friends beam.* Also maybe he likes Aria that way, so he's a bit easier on her, who knows--
Anyway, I had the misfortune of seeing the only (?) Johto anime episode with him as a kid, and little 9-year-old Sarah really though, "Man. This guy's a jerk." Little did she know she'd fall for that jerk years later. We don't talk about that--
The loss of the shiny Pidgey exists because I was training Ollie (my Chikorita/Bayleef/Meganium) in HG the other day, encountered a shiny Pidgey, and realized I didn't have any more Poké Balls--massive loss. But also a win because ship lore. And also the second time I've run into a shiny Pidgey while playing a Johto game ... maybe someday I'll actually catch the thing.
ANYWAY. I always felt Suicune would prefer Aria over Eusine (similar to the way the plot unfolds in the games, with Eusine eventually ceding the right to catch Suicune to the player), and while she would like to catch it, she's not as ... let's say ... passionate about it as Eusine is. Hence why Suicune tends to respond to her.
... she does think him chasing after Suicune all the time cute, though. It's very subtle, but she would've been mega embarrassed to fail that Pidgey in front of him--because, while it's not stated directly, she's imagining a scene where she failed at her life goal in front of her crush. It's not like Eusine doesn't do that on a regular basis, but that only makes it worse for Aria asdfghjkl
I also liked writing the subtle “… you were talking to Suicune about me?” followed by Aria immediately changing the subject--and then her adjusting his bow tie later. Subtle things get me all the time--
Anyway, uh--Morty, huh? 👀 /lh
(And sorry for the essay--I just. Have a lot to say and like to respond to tags through asks, sometimes asdfghjkl)
~ heart-of-aspiration 📖
HI SARAHH!! - oh man the fact you had me in particular to share the aria/eusine ship makes me SO honored ("THE pokemon mutual", that made me audibly giggle) and i'm honestly here for it, and you can tell i can definitely like - have the capacity to take batch after batch of hardcore pokemon ship/self insert lore (and be equally as talkative and lengthy about it...) so naturally i'd immediately gravitate here, and it's characters belonging to gen 2 which i'm incredibly biased to.... AHFJSHFGAS
i should've expected this from eusine - it would seem that he doesn't seem too dissimilar to his manga counterpart (which is radiating the same vibes as how you written him, he's definitely arrogant but kind enough to help) i actually should share some panels of him maybe! i'll admit that he was really hilarious for being lowkey petty due to a certain circumstance in the manga, but moving on!
i respect that his attitude is toned down towards aria and morty, they're totally good friends and morty doesn't seem like someone who'd engage in fights quickly - he's super relaxed and wise...
the whole pidgey story got me WAHUSHASHDAF THAT'S SUCH A MISSED OPPORTUNITYYY but that moment was enough to be a realistic incident for aria and i LOVE it. i hope you can actually catch that shiny birdie!!
i can totally imagine a scenario where she notices eusine on his failed attempts to catch suicune and he probably curses to himself (assuming he's alone) and aria would just quietly laugh, reminding herself how much she adores him and how cute he is for that - i swear i know a dynamic where they had a similar vibe to this but i can't seem to point out who or what -- but my point is, i love that dynamic so much. it doesn't feel TOO much like a rivalry but it's enough to at least poke fun at each other's professions + their little romance heheh ITS JUSTTT. YEAHHH!!!
let's not talk about morty /lh /pos the headband makes him look so cute combined with his relaxed personality and i'm on a hunt for a misdreavus and to name it after him as we speak WAHUSDHAUFS (IT'S NOT SUCCESSFUL HOWEVER BUT I'M GETTING THERE) let's just say he's one of the early crushes i have - not too active but i... would like to hold his hand HWAJHSDJAHJFDSAF. if he ever resurfaces im running to you immediately /pos /lh

Hello. My name is Maria. She/her. I am a Faller from a place called Yharnam through means unknown, the Chosen champion of Ho-oh through means theoretically known, and the current Champion of the Indigo League through means I know very well, as I did defeat Lance to win that title.
Though I still am thoroughly uncertain as to what quirk of fate resulted in my arrival here, the Johto region has become my home, and I will defend it. Team Rocket is now a memory, as is its leader. They will not be missed.
Here is my Trainer Card, for those curious—I have found that I look rather dashing in it.
Tumblr media
My team is as follows; if you would like to know more about any of them than I have provided here, you need only but ask:
Rakuyo (Meganium, X) Hunter (Furret, F) Molotov (Arcanine, M) Adeline (Gengar, F) Evelyn (Kingdra, F) Eileen (Honchkrow, F)
My Gengar, Ade, is considerably more technologically literate than I and frequently borrows my device to editorialize upon my posts, record what I am doing, or make posts of her own. When she does, she favors the color purple.
Silver is, technically, still the rival to me that she has declared herself to be. She now has her own blog at @cosmic-crobat. In previous posts upon my blog, she has utilized the color blue.
Occasionally, the god that deemed me worthy of saving Johto chooses to speak here as well. When Ho-oh does so, they do so with bold orange text, and they use that name interchangeably with another they have chosen: Solaire.
The first person to show me kindness in this world was an eleven-year-old boy named Ethan. He introduced me to the second—his mother, a woman named Reina, who I hold in the highest esteem and bear much affection for. I have lent her my device before, and her favorite color is pink.
(Ethan, in his single brief appearance here, used the color yellow. Unfortunately, Rotomblr seems to have removed that color from my post editor and I lack the technological knowledge to restore it, so should he return I will ask what he would prefer instead.)
Some time ago, there was an incident where my Pokégear was stolen and found its way into the hands of a mysterious woman known only as Dee, who distinguished her own posts with green text. I spent the following weeks attempting to solve the mystery of who she might be, only to discover that she was in fact the living Doll modeled after me.
I... do not know how she is in the same world as me. Nor do I know who her friend with the bold red text is for certain, though I have reason to suspect that they are from Yharnam as well.
Now that Team Rocket can be referred to in the past tense, I suppose I do now have the time to devote to the mystery of Dee, or I will soon. A part of me wants nothing to do with her. But she bears no responsibility for the circumstances of her creation, and perhaps she knows the answers to some of the questions I still have. Perhaps she knows something that I do not.
(OOC info under cut!)
Man these intro posts just keep getting longer and longer. Maria has a Lot To Say now that she's less depressed it seems, which is probably objectively a good thing but still. Anyway, hi, it's still me, @ofstormsandfire, with the pokeblog I've been devoting the majority of my time on Tumblr to for the past few months. I have no regrets this has been very fun and is helping with my Bloodborne withdrawal.
Anyway. Hi. I like Bloodborne, I really like Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower, and I got the idea back in November that I could make her a Faller. That, honestly, there isn't much I can do to her that wouldn't be an improvement over the Ocean Horrors. So this blog resulted!
With that said, Bloodborne is ostensibly a horror game and while Maria is currently in the world of Pokémon, that does not change the fact that she has been through The Horrors and is likely to reference them. Canon-typical themes for that may be present, I'll do my best to tag for anything that isn't average pokeblogging fare, if you'd like me to tag for anything specific feel free to just ask!
Here's some navigational tags for y'all (and I finally figured out how to make them chronological between the last intro post I made and this one, woo!)
#firebird arc: I combined the Radio Tower takeover and the Ho-oh subplot, made the Kimono Girls a lot more relevant, and ramped up the stakes slightly. Ho-oh is a firebird and I think there's a type of rocket called the firebird. I like puns. Sue me.
#from the ashes arc: Giovanni became an actual threat, there got to be an entire Rocket base in Tohjo Falls, and Silver got traumatized more. Mind the tags and also the warning OOC post at the beginning.
#kanto rocket arc: There wasn't much to do in Kanto so I had Rocket start causing problems on purpose. Silver transed her gender and Giovanni... seemed to no longer be a problem at the end of it.
#downpour arc: This hasn't started yet, and won't for a little while, but I've got one post in the tag already establishing it and letting people know what's up OOC ahead of time. I'll probably need to write another new intro post by the time this arc actually begins but it's nice to have my bases covered anyway.
#milf time and sonboy hours, #milf time: The first tag was specifically posts from Ethan and Reina, but Tumblr stole my yellow and Ethan didn't care about Rotomblr so we're not likely to see more of him actually posting. Maybe on Silver's account who knows.
#passing stranger: Posts from or relating to Dee, which y'all now know both ic and ooc is the Plain Doll. Though most of the posts in this tag are from her 24-hour takeover back in February, there will be more, she's coming back more permanently soon and I'm excited.
#rainbow wings: Posts from (or sometimes relating to) Ho-oh. They don't post that often but they're a giant rainbow bird they can do what they want. What they want, when they happen to be online, is generally for injustice to Not Happen. Good luck buddy.
#what's with this sassy lost child?: Posts from Silver, before she got her own blog at @cosmic-crobat. These days she mostly uses her own blog. I might reuse blue for another character later, or I might just keep using blue for her, we'll see what happens.
#ask game: Reblogs of ask games and responses to said ask games. This one isn't chronological.
#hints to the future: Specifically, responses to that one ask game with the gear emojis that lets you hint at future events. I am always accepting asks for this one no matter how long it's been since I last reblogged that ask game. I like hinting toward what's to come and I like writing prose.
#glimpses of the past: That one ask game with the hourglasses that lets you see into the muse's past. Again, always open because I love writing prose and I can write out prose for things that have already happened this way.
#pelipper mail: It's open, it keeps happening, it keeps causing problems. Note that while I do not have magic anons on, if you're sufficiently creative with Pelipper Mail and it isn't too story-breaking you can probably get a similar effect to a magic anon that way.
#the vampire allegations: Silly tag for posts involving the recurring jokes about Maria being a vampire. It keeps happening, due to her entire aesthetic and also me deciding she can be allergic to garlic for coincidental and completely mundane reasons.

❤️ (Heart) - Who is someone you consider yourself pretty close to? (aside from cheri lol)
📢 (Megaphone) - Who is someone you'd recommend new/other people to check out?
Hey, Cheri doesn't even have an account here! ...at least, hope she doesn't. I don't need her to see me be as embarrassing as I am half the time...
Other than that, I mean, I'm pretty close to @runicsorceress in my opinion. We're friends, at the least! Same with @withoutatrace-pkmn or Sidon @water-pokemon-appreciator. Really, I guess my metric for that is anybody who'd drive me up the wall if they got hurt... So you guys are killing me right now! /lh
Accounts for new people to check out... obviously all of the above and other people I've mentioned, first off! I think a lot of the shelter accounts like @meganiums-petals-pokemon-shelter are great; Rosie @oh-shinx always has interesting content and is just funny to boot, and of course can't forget @fox-poke-fanatic (//and all of Backset's blogs really). Who else... Dave @/iheartnimbassacity and Amaryllis @/professor-amaryllis are always pleasant to see on my feed! And @champion-class-hatsune-miku is always... confusing, but very nice!
//(Shameless plug for @swagtastic-bougie-pompadour btw. Support your local old man.)

Man, it makes me so damn sad that I haven't been able to raise any v-pets since getting my job. Luckily, I found the next best thing: a pedometer pet!
Once I beat Pokemon Scarlet, I decided "why don't I play peak pokemon (aka my first Pokemon game) and see if it still holds up (it does besides from the grinding and the shit Johto gym leaders 1st parties). While I did still have my old HG cart, I had no idea where my Pokewalker went, so o bought a new one to play with it along with my playthrouh. Here are some pokemon I've walked with along my journey so far!
Tumblr media
Serenity the Meganium
Tumblr media
Joey the Slowbro
Tumblr media
Opera the Lapras
Tumblr media
Miracle the Xatu
Tumblr media
Molly the Persian
Tumblr media
Shmupaton the Forreress
Tumblr media
Majesty the Ho-Oh (AKA the Ultraball-Eater)
Tumblr media
Odyssey the Porygon2 (thank you PKHex cuz I was not gonna buy a 2nd 3DS and copy of HGSS for this to work)
Tumblr media
Jiffy the Girafarig (homage to the Jiffy in my Scarlet playthrough)
Tumblr media
And finally, Gooby the Armaldo!
Many more pokemon will be walked with as time marches on with me. Whenever I walk with enough Pokemon, I'll make a sequel post to this

This year, after spending 2023 barely getting the tablet out of my backpacks, I decided to draw a year-long tribute to myself in the form of 12 drawings remaking 12 drawings I did in the past, each per month.
More information about that will be under the cut! I tend to ramble, so... yeah. TL;DR I remade an illust done for an old-ass fanfic of mine and now it's modern and following one of my fic verses again haha. For those who know my work/AO3 account, it's Glass Cannon Blues.
I missed drawing those three, it had been literal years since I last did!
January gets 2012, my first year actually knowing what the hell I was doing in a digital art program (back then, an outdated pirated copy of SAI). For it, I chose one pictured I've always meant to go back to, but only now gave myself time to actually redraw. This is "Parallel Lyra no Matryoshka!":
Tumblr media
As you can tell, yeah, this is Hachi's Matryoshka lol, which is still a banger with a peak aesthetic to this day. I made this drawing based on my first actual fanfiction, Parallel Lyra, thus why it's Ethan, Lyra and Kris on this pic, as they were the protags of that fic.
This version is slightly different since I slightly modernized the concept? Ethan, Lyra and Kris are now their GCB counterparts, which is why their clothes have different colours. What's funny is that ParaLyra!Ethan and Lyra already had Meganium and Typholosion respectively (that was waaaaay before Masters was even conceptualized lol), but for some reason Ethan had red and Lyra green as signatures colours? Okay. Anyway, now they've got the colour maching their starters' types.
I need to get back to GCB man.

Grass starter final evo
When looking at the grass starter final evo and thinking about the Sprigatito final evo there is honestly nothing to worry about.
Venusaur and Meganium are quadrupedal dinosaur like creatures
Sceptile is a bipedal lizard like creature with a rather squat design.
Torterra basis is the idea of the island tortoises/continent turtle which would not work on two legs
Serperior according to what I understand is a disliked design according to others, so lack of limb is also a problem
Chesnaught the first mammalian grass starter another disliked design and although bipedal has a hunched appearance which in theory makes it seem like it could walk on its forelimbs/ knuckles.
Decidueye both forms are based on the extinct stilt owl which had long legs which more or less leads to a humanoid design.
Finally Rillaboom, its an ape they have the ability to stand up. but Rillaboom in its official art has it standing as a gorilla and the only time when its not like that is when its in battle with its drum which it more or less needs stand for.
The grass starter don’t have a major problem with turning humanoid because at its worst, Chesnaught looks like a hunched old man, but still looks like it can go feral at any moment. Its the fire starters we got to worry about because while we dread for Sprigatito we got to be more scared for Fuecoco because all the fire starter evos are bipedal

I had an idea for the next Legends ame
I'm gonna go with Pokemon Legends Kyrum, for a Unova game, because that is my favorite region (aside from Sinnoh) 1. Meganium. Grass/Fairy. Final evolution resembles a medic or a red cross nurse. 2. Litten. Final evolution instead of a wrestler is more cowboy themed, keeps the fire/dark type or maybe fire/ground? fire/steel would work too because haha gun 3. Piplup. Final evolution can be like a business theme, like an old timey business man in a suit. I almost wanna say water/dark as a joke since back then labor laws were bad, but more realistically I wanna say water/pyschic maybe? I also would like to imagine there to be a few different parts of Unova, like the desert is a wild west, have a city area that was just at the cusp of the industrial revolution, etc. Instead of actually showing us the story of the two brothers, I would like to see the immediate aftermath. You play as Hilda or Hilbert, since they went missing as our present timeline. One little mechanic I really want back is the little dating sim thing on the xtransiever? Its small but I really liked it. Bonus points for letting us be gay I want to see the dream world expanded on too, maybe instead of the focus on catching every Pokemon, we could have a focus on learning pokemon's hidden abilities or dreams? I want hidden grottos back too! I know this may be a long stretch BUT I also want N to return. Not an ancestor. Actual N. He's my husband and my number 1 favorite character. He deserves to come back! Somehow!

Nia can hardly believe this is happening. She’s part of a Seekers team now, and one with Tobias at that! The charmander leads her back out of the tunnels, stopping only briefly at a shallow pool of water emerging from the cave wall at a bend.
“You need to wash off your mouth,” he explains, pointing at her bloodied nose. “If we go back with you looking like you mauled someone, Maggie’s definitely going to have questions.”
Nia uses the cool, clear water to gently scrub the dried blood off her face, biting back a whimper at how sore her nose feels. When she’s done, she sniffs and turns to Tobias. He tilts his head and scrunches up his nose.
“I think you’re good, but clean up your fur a bit. You’re all ruffled.”
Nia almost laughs. What is he all of a sudden, her mom?
Mom.
A lance of pain shoots through her chest. She gasps, pausing in the middle of smoothing her fur as tears spring to her eyes. Mom. When she thinks the word, her heart definitely reacts to someone, almost drowning her in a wave of sorrow and longing. But she can’t place a face, can’t remember anything about her mother other than the fact that she must love her dearly.
“Uh.” Tobias is giving her a weirded-out look.
Nia opens her mouth to explain, but doesn’t want to risk the charmander just scoffing something cruel at her. Not when she’s suddenly feeling this off-balance.
“I-It’s nothing,” she mumbles, hurriedly wiping her eyes and going back to cleaning herself up. Tobias doesn’t push, rubbing at the scuffs on his own skin. Within a few minutes, they look at each other, deeming themselves satisfactory. At least they don’t look like they just…well, fought through a mystery dungeon.
The two exit the cave and climb the staircase, up and up to the medical floor. Nia’s exhausted. Why does it have to be so close to the top? From the openings in the guild walls and the few Pokémon they pass who look like they just returned from their own missions, Nia realizes that the sun has already set, dusk painting the forest in shades of gray and purple. With how tired she feels, aches in her muscles and feet tripping over themselves more than usual, she feels like it should be midnight.
“If Maggie asks, I was showing you around the forest and that’s how we got all scratched up,” Tobias says.
“Do we have to lie to her?” Nia asks, already feeling guilty about it.
Tobias doesn’t answer for a moment. “Well, we can’t tell her the truth. She’ll freak out and probably have to tell August. No use in making her upset or getting us suspended before our first day.”
Nia supposes he’s right, but she still doesn’t like it.
When they reach their quarters, the older Pokémon is nowhere to be seen. Tobias walks over to the tiny alcove where Nia’s spotted a few berries stashed before, and pulls out an apple, taking it with him as he walks back to his nest.
Nia’s stomach rumbles. She eyes the cabinet, debating. Could...could she grab one too? This isn’t really her quarters, but Maggie did tell her to make herself at home. Nia hesitantly opens the cabinet and grabs an apple of her own, glancing at Tobias and relaxing when he doesn’t even look her way. She feels like a friend at a sleepover too afraid to ask for a snack!
Nia shuffles past the charmander to grab a book from her stack and sets her new scarf beside her bed. Then, she returns to the main area where there’s more light to curl up and read.
That’s how Maggie finds them a bit later, a smile touching her face as she catches sight of them co-existing peacefully in one room. “There you are! I’ve been wondering where you two went today.”
Nia snaps out of her reading and feels her ears pin back. “S-sorry, we, uh—“
“I was showing her around the forest,” Tobias cuts in.
“Well, next time tell an old woman if you’re heading out, all right? I was starting to get worried.”
Nia nods and Tobias grumbles, “Fine.”
Maggie opens her mouth to say something else, but pauses, leaning closer to squint at the two younger Pokémon. “How in Virizion’s name did you get all scratched up?”
Nia freezes and prays that Tobias will answer. After a moment he does, rolling his eyes and jabbing a thumb at Nia. “Genius here got stuck in a huge bramble patch. Only found one oran berry to patch us up.”
For a heartbeat, Maggie doesn’t look entirely convinced. But then she smiles, leaning back. “Well, I’m glad to see you’re being civil with each other, at least.” She turns to arrange a few items on her desk, casually asking, “So did you two talk about anything interesting?”
Subtle, Maggie. Nia fights back a smile. “Y-Yeah. He said yes.”
“Oh! Good, good!”
Tobias shoots Nia a confused look, so she answers, “I-I wasn’t sure I was cut out to be a Seeker, or if you’d accept. So I asked Maggie’s opinion before talking to you about it.”
Maggie turns back to the two of them with a wide, pleased smile. “I’m happy it all worked out. Have you chosen a team name yet?”
“I don’t really care as long as it isn’t stupid,” Tobias grumbles, shooting Nia a pointed look. She ducks into herself, embarrassed all over again.
“No, we haven’t.”
“That’s fine! You have some time. You look like you’re about to fall asleep on your feet, though, and I suppose you have a big day tomorrow. Why don’t you both get some rest?”
Right on cue, Nia yawns, taking her advice and turning to go to the nests. She pauses to look back when she hears Maggie murmur, “Just a moment, Tobias.”
The meganium reaches out her vines to gently grab the charmander’s shoulders, an unbearably loving look on her face. “I’m so proud of you,” she whispers, craning her head down to touch her snout to the top of the charmander’s head. Nia expects him to wrench away, yelling. Instead he leans forward to hug her leg, just for a moment.
Nia suddenly feels like she’s intruding on something special, and hurriedly makes her way back to her nest. She settles down into it as quietly as she can, already feeling sleep drawing heavy at her eyes. A nest of soft straw and leaves isn’t the comfiest bed in the world, but right now it feels like heaven. Shortly after, Tobias follows and curls up in his own nest for the night.
“So any name ideas that aren’t awful?” He asks, yawning. Nia takes a second to admire his sharp teeth and blue-gray tongue. Is that from breathing fire? Or because he’s sort of like a lizard?
“N-No, not really.”
“Well, get thinking. We need a cool one by tomorrow morning when we go to register.”
Nia doesn’t answer, looking up at the ceiling as silence descends on the two of them. Within a few minutes, Maggie covers up the window and the brightest crystals in the room with leaf shades, leaving the space almost entirely dark aside from Tobias’ flickering tail.
Names, huh? Didn’t Nia used to have something that would help her with that? Something that she could look up information on, a small device or something? Oh! A phone. Yeah. Man, what she wouldn’t give to have a phone and some service right now. Maybe then she could do some Googling on the Pokémon world, see if any human has a clue about these amazing creatures.
Heck, maybe she could even call her family.
Nia feels a lump in her throat, tears springing hot and wet to her eyes. God, she doesn’t remember them, not really, but her heart sure does. It aches. Feels heavy and painful in her chest, like it might physically be tearing in half. In all of the excitement today, she’d almost forgotten the end goal of her agreement to partner up with Tobias. She needs to get home. As amazing as this world is, she knows she has people waiting for her. A life to return to.
Nia forcibly calms her breathing and tries to think of something else before she starts crying. Team names. What could their team name be? It needs to be something good. Something that Tobias won’t argue with. She’s exhausted, but she rolls over onto her belly, grabbing her stack of books and dragging them closer. She eyes Tobias, making sure he’s asleep before scooching closer to his tail flame for light. Let’s see here...ah! There!
Nia pulls out the book of important historical figures that she adopted her own name from. There has to be a section for Seeker teams, right? Maybe she just needs some inspiration. Or at least to see what a “normal” team name would be. She flips through until she reaches a section detailing Seeker teams and members who apparently made a huge impact on the Pokémon world.
Team Bloom was a group of grass types who were the first mono-type team to reach platinum rank. Hm. Okay. Team Poppy started with a...simisear and an electrode? Were they red Pokémon, maybe? Or maybe they just really liked flowers. Team Adventure was the first team to discover a place called the Crystal Cavern in the Arabalis Mountain Range...Team Ellis was created by two Pokémon named Elliana and Kris, so personal names aren’t out of the running either. Team Ignite, Team Blue Sky, Team PokePals, Team Hawthorne, Team Maximum, Team Flying Fury...
Okay, Nia thinks she sees the pattern here. So something that sounds good with Team and is fairly succinct. Something that describes the two of them in some way, or maybe their goals. Nia quietly closes the book and pushes the stack against the wall. She checks to make sure she didn’t wake Tobias (not that he’d be quiet about it if she did) before curling back up in her own nest.
Names, names, names...
She’s asleep before she can think of a single one.
  __________________________________________________
“Hey, wake up!”
Someone shakes her, and she buries her head further into bed, huffing. She’s warm and sleepy and getting up sounds like the last thing she wants to do.
“C’mon, we have to go get registered!”
Now recognizing Tobias’ voice, hushed but impatient, she finally opens her eyes as he shakes her harder.
“‘M awake,” she mumbles, trying to sit up. Tobias is crouched at her side, looking entirely too alert for how early it feels.
“We’ve got a lot to do today, and I’m not gonna let you laze around and sleep all morning.” He rushes out of their little alcove, and as Nia yawns and stumbles to hurry after him, she realizes the crystals of their dim room are still covered. The few patches of the walls and ceiling open to the sky are black as night. No wonder she’s so tired! How early is it?
“What time is it?” Nia asks, rubbing at her eyes and following Tobias’ tail flame to the doorway of the room.
“Shh. Maggie’s still sleeping,” he whispers back.
Nia blinks and nods, following him as they walk into the hall. Even with the dim lighting of the luminescent leaves and crystals, she’s grateful for Tobias’ flame, easily giving them a halo of light to see where they’re going. Plus, it’s slightly warmer near him. The night air is a bit chilly even through her fur.
The charmander leads them out of the medical ward and down the staircase without any other preamble, and Nia doesn’t question it. She just appreciates that the walk gives her time to wake up and smooth the worst ruffles out of her pelt. They spiral down further and further until they must be near the bottom of the guild, and they still haven’t passed another Pokémon on the way.
“How early is it?” Nia asks again, whisper sounding loud in the stillness.
“A little before dawn. We need to get an early start today.”
Soon enough they reach what must be one of the last floors before going underground. They follow it inward just as the sky outside appears to be lightening to a pale blue-gray. The floor is mostly dark aside from a few crystals, but Tobias quickly leads them past a few smaller rooms where Pokémon are beginning to stir and move about.
“What floor is this?”
Tobias glances back at her with disgruntled expression, like he wishes she'd shut up. “Administration area.”
Nia doesn’t ask any more questions, looking around as Tobias leads them to a particular room. Once or twice he looks like he’s not sure where he’s going, but Nia certainly isn’t going to question him aloud. Finally, they reach a doorway lit up brighter than most they’d passed. Tobias knocks on the door frame before entering.
A cutesy plant Pokemon sits at the desk inside, using slender white hands to write information down onto a stack of papers. She looks oddly human, but with large pink eyes and hair” made of two long leaves and a stem. She glances up with a bright smile as Nia and Tobias enter, but it falters as she sees the charmander.
“Oh! Hello, Tobias,” the Pokemon chirps, clearly surprised despite her impressive Customer Service Voice. “What’re you doing here?”
“We need to register as a Seeker team,” The charmander answers, stopping in front of the Pokémon’s desk and sounding maybe the smallest bit proud.
The plant girl blinks first at Tobias, and then at Nia. The riolu takes her focus off of the luminescent vines and leaves lighting up the room to smile at her.
“Hi,” she says, offering an awkward wave. “I’m Nia.”
“O-Oh! Yes, the human staying with Maggie. Pleasure to meet you. I’m Riley. So…you two are creating a Seeker team together?” Riley asks, dainty hands folding over her desk, not moving to grab a form or anything. Instead, she gives Nia a worried look. “You realize you will be partners in almost every sense of the word, right? It won’t be easy.”
Nia gets the feeling that Riley isn’t talking about the job itself and more the difficulties associated with her partner.
Before she can respond, the charmander growls, “I didn’t force her to make a team with me.”
He looks like he’s barely holding himself back from lunging over the desk to claw at the flowery Pokemon, and for once Nia can’t really blame him. The implications make Nia bristle a bit too. Sure, she’s a bit of a pushover sometimes, but it’s not like anyone could force her into this big of a decision!
“It was my idea, actually,” she says, trying to sound confident. She’s just glad she doesn’t stutter.
Riley looks away, face tinging a soft pink. Good, she should be embarrassed after that rude comment. “Y-Yes. Apologies. Hold on a moment.”
As Riley searches through the forms, gathering the correct ones, Tobias turns to Nia, clearly still miffed but trying to move things along. “Did you think of a team name?”
Nia winces. Oops. She’d forgotten to think about it on the way down this morning. “W-Well, I looked up some famous teams last night, but…do you have any ideas?”
Tobias rolls his eyes. “I told you I don’t care as long as it’s not dumb like the name you gave that teddiursa. You don’t have anything?”
Nia glances around, skimming past the glowing vines lining the room and landing on Tobias’ tail flame. “Uh...something with fire, maybe? Like team Spark, or Team Ember?”
“Original,” Tobias scoffs. “Besides, you’re not a fire type.”
Nia wrings her hands, thinking. They’re both pretty new at this, and they do live in a giant tree. “T-Team Sprout? Team Sapling?”
“Even less original. We aren’t sudowoodo.”
Nia doesn’t know what that means, but she can sense an insult when she hears one.
“Team Sunset?”
Tobias tilts his head at her, frowning.
“Well, you’re orange and I’m blue, so kinda like the sky?”
Tobias shakes his head.
Nia huffs out a breath. “Uh...” what’s something that they have in common? She tries to come up with something (surely there’s something!), but other than fighting in a dungeon illegally? Not much comes to mind.
“T-Team Cherry?” Nia suggests with an edge of desperation, thinking of that first day in the cafeteria and the soup miscommunication.
Tobias snorts. “More like Team Disaster.”
Nia isn’t sure whether she should laugh or be mad. “You could help, you know.”
“I am!”
Nia sighs, rubbing at her temples. This is a good start for their team. Okay, what’s something that’s important to both of them? Maggie? Team Magnolia? God, no, that makes it sound like she’s dead.
Nia looks up again, and pauses as she catches sight of Tobias’ red scarf. It’s definitely worn, a little dingy, but the charmander never takes it off. Not to sleep, not to fight or eat. She’s seen him tug at the scarf or scratch under it when he seems nervous or irritated, too.
“Is your scarf important to you?” She asks.
Tobias reaches up to grab it, leaning back as if Nia’s about to snatch it from him. “Why?”
Protective. Definitely significant to him. “I thought maybe we could make a team name with the color red. If it’s that important to you.”
For the first time since she has started listing off name ideas, Tobias looks interested. He rubs the scarf between his fingers.
“I could get a scarf or something to match, too,” Nia offers. She’d seen a few teams pass by with matching or coordinated team items, like scarves and bands dyed the same color. It looked nice.
Tobias doesn’t respond for a moment. “So...what? Team Red?”
“I-I was thinking more like Team Crimson? Or Vermillion?”
Tobias hums, apparently not absolutely hating her proposition for once. “Team Ruby?”
“I kind of like that one!”
They pause in thought for a few more moments, before Nia remembers one more catchy shade of red. “Team Scarlet?”
“Scarlet,” Tobias echoes, rolling the name around in his mouth. “Team Scarlet.”
“You like it?”
To Nia’s surprise, he nods, a hint of a smile on his lips. He looks ready to go again, determined once more. It’s nice, having the critical Pokemon look so approving of her for once. “Team Scarlet. Yeah, that doesn’t sound too bad. You got that, Riley?”
They turn back to the plant Pokemon and she jumps, having clearly checked out somewhere in the middle of their discussion. “Yes!”
Riley fills in the form, scratching an inky twig against the paper’s surface. Occasionally she asks one or both of them a question, but in the end they don’t have to do much aside from sign their names. Nia’s signature is incredibly messy, seeing as she’s still not used to writing with paws instead of human hands, but she also realizes she’s not used to writing at all in the rune-like language. She’s only read it in books. She still wonders how that all works, how she can read and roughly write in a language not at all her own.
“Well, you two are good to go!” Riley says, stamping the bottom of the sheet. She motions for them to put their arms up on the desk, stamping their hands as well. “Just go down a floor to the item dispensary and look for Rainer. You know him, right? Politoed?”
“Yeah,” Tobias says, already turning to leave. Nia hurries after him, debating on thanking Riley before she goes. She was kind of a jerk, though, so Nia just gives her a halfhearted wave on their way out.
Nia follows Tobias down the corridors to the staircase, looking at the top of her hand in the morning light. It’s a simple, inky emblem stamped onto her fur, just a bit smudged. It looks like...a little egg, maybe? Or a capsule? With wings on the sides of it. A badge, maybe?
Before she can ask, they’re heading downstairs and immediately turning into a hallway, then to a gathering area. This space is more open, with different “booths” lining the walls and a stall in the middle of the room. There are a few Pokémon at each station, chatting or moving goods about; Nia’s pretty sure they’re Seeker teams, maybe packing up for missions. They approach particular booths in groups of two to four, a bag looped around one of their shoulders as they order and exchange goods. Or buy them, maybe? She hasn’t exactly asked how this works.
Tobias pauses, looking around before setting off for a booth. An adorable, bright green frog with rosy cheeks sits behind the counter, shuffling through some slips of cloth.
“Hey, Rainer,” Tobias greets as they reach the counter, peering over the edge. “We’re a new Seeker team. This is where we go, right?”
Rainer, presumably, looks down at the two of them, breaking into a wide smile. “Sure is! Need the basic package?”
“I guess,” Tobias says, shrugging.
“Stamps?”
Nia and Tobias push their hands forward, and Rainer nods. “Good! Give me just a second.”
The frog turns and shuffles through his chests and shelves of goods, humming cheerily all the while. “So what name did you two go with?”
“Team Scarlet,” Tobias replies, sounding more sure of the name as he repeats it. Nia feels a bit proud.
“Mm. I like it! Tobias, I’m guessing you’ll want to keep your scarf, right?”
Tobias’ hands drift up towards his neck again. “Yeah.”
“Will you be needing one, Riolu?”
Nia opens her mouth to say yes, before suddenly remembering the attack scarf they’d found yesterday in the mystery dungeon. She’d put it right by her bed so she wouldn’t forget to wear it, but she’d managed to do so anyways. She remembers Maggie mentioning someone in the guild who could dye accessories, so she thinks she could just have that changed to a matching scarlet red later.
“N-No thank you,” she says. “I have something back in Maggie’s room to use.”
Rainer just nods, entire body bouncing as he pushes a small satchel over the counter. “Good, good! In that case, I have you all packed up for your first mission tomorrow. Your badges are inside with a manual explaining how they work, so be sure to read up on that. You two go talk to Azami next, and be safe out there!”
Tobias grabs the bag and turns to go, Nia giving Rainer a word of thanks before rushing to follow. The charmander leads them towards the stairway, and Nia hurries to catch up to his brisk stride. At least his legs are shorter than hers.
“S-So what did he mean by ‘tomorrow?’ Are we not going on a mission today?”
Tobias sighs. “No, we have to wait. It’s mandatory for new Seeker teams to have a day of assessment first, to test their skills and knowledge, assign a trainer, and point out what the team members need to work on.”
Nia feels nerves flutter in her stomach. That sounds like quite the test. “C-Can you, uh...fail?”
The charmander snorts, voice lowering. “We won’t fail if we managed to beat a D-rank dungeon right off the bat. We’ll be fine.”
Nia feels less sure of herself, anxiety already bearing down on her. But she perks up when she sees a familiar face near the staircase. “Oh, hey! It’s Xander!” She waves at the blue and black lion Pokémon. When he notices her, he smiles, walking their way.
“Ugh. You know him?” Tobias growls, curling up his lip like the luxio’s presence alone is enough to make him sick. Nia doesn’t know why she’s so shocked by the reaction at this point.
“What? He seems really nice!”
Tobias rolls his eyes. “He’s an annoying goody-goody is what he is. Thinks he’s better than everyone.”
Nia frowns. That wasn’t the vibe she’d gotten from him at all.
“Nia! I’m surprised to see you down here.” Xander’s all warm smiles as he greets her, but when he turns to Tobias, his expression hardens. “Tobias.”
“Xander.”
The tension in the air is thick, but before any of them can speak, a graceful, bipedal Pokémon steps up next to Xander, looking curiously at Nia and Tobias with a gentle smile. They’re all delicacy and long legs, like a ballerina, green and white with startling red eyes. They remind Nia of a smaller Alistair, the gardevoir in the archives.
“Hello. I don’t believe we’ve met,” the new Pokémon says, voice incredibly soft. It’s almost hard to hear them in the open room. “I’m Avery, one of Xander’s partners.”
“I-I’m Nia,” the riolu says, torn between bowing and jutting out a hand to offer a handshake. She’s still not entirely sure which is expected in the Pokemon world. Avery has hands, so probably a handshake?
Avery laughs at Nia’s fumbling, a quiet but charming sound, and Nia feels herself blush under her fur. “It’s a pleasure meeting you. My father had some very kind things to say about you after your visit to the archives, and Xander mentioned running into you the other day.”
“Literally,” Xander adds with a small smile, looking visibly relaxed by Avery’s presence. “So what are you two doing here so early? Maggie roll you out of bed?”
“We’re forming a Seeker team,” Tobias says, crossing his arms and glaring at the luxio defiantly.
Xander’s ears perk up, star-tipped tail ceasing its casual flicking. “A Seeker team?” He sounds almost worried, gaze flicking over to Nia, and she hurries to speak up before Tobias can light the lion on fire.
“I-It was my idea! We both have reasons for wanting to join one, and, well, we already kind of know each other, so...”
That’s not 100% the true reasoning, and she suspects that Xander knows that, but the luxio doesn’t say anything else. Before anyone can respond, a blue-gray turtle appears on Xander’s other side, slinging an arm around his neck. “Yo! We’ve got the supplies, cap. Ready to go? Kry is itching to leave.”
The turtle notices Nia and Tobias, fluffy ears twitching as he offers a casual grin. “Hey. Sorry for interrupting. You Nia, I’m guessing?”
“Oh! Y-Yes, that’s me.” By this point she really shouldn’t be surprised every time a stranger knows her by name.
“I’m Felix. Been with this guy—“ here he takes a moment to jostle Xander. “Since the good old days.”
“The ‘good old days’?” Xander asks, amused. “We aren’t that old.”
“Eh, old enough. I know I sure could use a nap. Just wanted to let you know we’re ready when you are. See ya ‘round, Nia.”
Nia’s caught off-guard by the wink the turtle leaves with, once again feeling hot under her fur. What—did he just?
“Don’t worry about him. Felix is harmless,” Xander huffs. “A lazy flirt, but harmless.“
Nia nods, unsure of how to respond.
“I’d better go calm Kry down,” Avery says, fondly. They turn with a gentle touch to Xander’s shoulder and a wave to Tobias and Nia. “Good luck, you two.”
Xander watches the graceful Pokémon leave, and Nia fights back a smile at the warmth in the luxio’s expression. She doesn’t want to assume anything, but wow does he look the definition of lovestruck.
“I’d better go too,” Xander says, shaking himself out of his spell. He looks back to Nia. “You let me know if you need help with anything, okay?”
Nia nods, grateful. “Thank you.”
Xander’s piercing eyes turns to Tobias, and when he speaks, it sounds less like advice and more like a threat. “Be careful. Watch each other’s backs.”
Tobias scowls in return, not breaking eye contact as Xander turns and heads back to the staircase, where Avery and Felix wait beside a stocky gray dinosaur (dragon?) Pokémon with a green helmet and two tusks jutting from the sides of its mouth. They’re all wearing gold-colored cloths or bands on some part of their bodies, and Felix hefts a satchel larger than Nia herself up onto his shoulder before the group leaves.
“I hate that guy,” Tobias grumbles, white smoke puffing from his nostrils. Nia shifts uncomfortably. She doesn’t want to argue with her new, explosive partner before they even begin their first day, but she really likes Xander. He’s nice and he reminds her of someone that makes her feel calm and safe. Maybe from her human life?
“S-So where do we go next?” Nia asks, hoping to change the topic.
Tobias smirks, and Nia knows she’s going to hate whatever he says next. “The training floor for our combat assessment.”
Nia bites back a groan, already imagining how many ways she’s going to embarrass herself.
This won’t be good.

2020 Critmas Fic Day 25
Take a Chance…Catch ‘Em all (CR C2/Pokemon Crossover Ficlet)
-
It’d certainly been a turbulent Pokemon Challenge season, leaving many convinced the Wildemount Pokemon League Championship would have to be called off (reigniting the debate about whether the Menagerie, Dwendalian, and Xhorhas regions ought to separate out with their own regional leagues, given the near-constant tension and strife between them), but peace had been secured (for the moment) and the biggest tournament of the year was about to commence.
Seven entrants in particular were creating quite a stir during the tournament lead-up and opening ceremonies—as they had since emerging from seemingly nowhere early in the season. To some, they were nuisances, to others, heroes, still others saw them as loose cannons, but all could agree that they were powerful trainers with loaded teams. (Seriously, how did they get into the kind of shenanigans that ended with each of them having a Legendary Pokemon anchoring their teams, along with the now-standard Mega-Evolving or Gigantimaxing Pokemon?)
They’d traveled as a team; they’d trained as a team; they’d triumphed as a team—perhaps the only thing giving anyone else a chance in the tournament was that hey could not compete as a team, but would have to stand on their own. (But then again, each on their own was a force to be reckoned with for sure…)
There was Veth, who seemed to sing rapidly between ‘Team Mom’ and ‘Trouble-Maker-In Chief’, and her eclectic team: Buttons, her Klefki was her oldest partner; Whiskey, her Spinda was unpredictable—useful in a pinch, but he caused nearly as much trouble as he prevented; her Thievul, Rogue, made up for a lack of brute power with her blinding speed; River, the Gigantimaxing Lapras, seemed to make even her own trainer wary; likewise, Nott, the Sableye, had taken a long time for Veth to come to terms with, to work with; and the Legendary Zapdos, Motherhood, dared anyone to even think of messing with her family—blood or no.
Caleb had been traveling with Veth long before they’d met up with the other five of the Nein, and his Delphox, Wizard, had been with him even longer, as had his Mega-Evolving Blaziken, Fireball. Frumpkin, the Meowstic, had been the next, beloved, addition to the team, followed a little later by the Gigalith, Transmuter’s Stone. As a battler, Caleb was well-known for his creative tactics when employing Polymorph, his Ditto, but speculation abounded regarding how he’d come to have Atonement, the Legendary Shaymin, on his team. (Truthfully, even he could not say—though he’d sought it for so long.)
There was some debate and discussion of whether Beau was officially affiliated with the Ioun Academy for Trainers or not—at first, she’d seemed to be a runaway student, but now she appeared to occasionally be running missions for them as a kind of faculty member—but there was no denying that she was a skilled battler and a keen strategist. Her first partner had been a Snivy (now Serperior), the iconic Pokemon of her family, named Lionett. They two had struggled to work together at first (apparently), but they had come to develop a style that was uniquely theirs, unconnected to her family, and in that, partner and trainer had found their bond. Likewise, Monk, her Mienshao, and Cobalt Soul, her Mega-Evolving Lucario, had taken some getting used to as she navigated her relationship with the Academy. All she would say about her acquisition of Tarot the Xatu was that he was ‘a gift from a friend’; while her back-and-forth sniping with her Noctowl, Professor Thaddeus somehow (no one watching from the outside could quite say how) led to a decent win record for them. And guarding them all as Beau guarded her friends’ happiness and well-being was Sentinel, the legendary Zamazenta.
The bubbly trainer from Nicodranas, Jester, had quite the varied team that leant itself to a very unorthodox battle style. Trickery, her Mega-Evolving Banette, seemed quite the dark and spooky partner for someone so fond of pink and pastries, while Ruby, the Ninetails, had all the elegance and grandeur of her namesake. The Inteleon, Gentleman, was a recent addition, but kept a narrowed eye on anyone that got too close to his precious trainer; while many marveled that such a battered- and haggard-looking Zangoose as Sprinkle was still alive, much less still following his trainer’s coaching. While many dismissed Smeargle as a ‘gimmicky’ Pokemon, Jester proved time and again that her Paints could be useful if only one was clever…as clever, say, as the Legendary Hoopah, her beloved Traveler….
There was one other trainer from the Menagerie Region: Fjord, originally from Port Damali, whose own diverse team marked quite the convolute path he’d taken to get to where he stood now. He’d started after receiving Warlock, his Malamar from unknown sources—and it was that mystery that’d set him on this journey. Along the search for answers, he’d found Crystal, the strange Carbink, and Uk’otoa, the menacing Spiritomb, in short order. But whatever he’d learned seemed not so satisfy what he’d truly been looking for and, after adding his disciplined Kingdra, Captain, he seemed to change track altogether with his Mega-Evolving Kangaskhan, Paladin, and the Legendary Zacian, Star Razor. But whatever had prompted the changes, there was no denying the comfort and confidence he now battled with.
Caduceus originally hailed from outside of the three regions, and had joined the others after an unexpected confrontation with an Evil team had turned deadly, early on. He’d come to their aid, then come along, with his gentle Meganium, Cleric, Graveyard, his deceptively-spooky Trevenant, and his Polteageist with the on-the-nose-name of ‘Tea’ (apparently it was an old family joke?). Speaking of the rest of his family, he had been using this journey, at least in part, as a means of finding what had become of them, finding Decompose, his Shiinotic, and Gorgon, the Gigantimaxing Copperajah, and finally his parents, aunt, and siblings—thankfully alive and (now) safe. All the while, guiding, guarding, and anchoring his team was the Legendary Lugia he called Melora with warmth and reverence.
Yasha, the one member of the group from the Xhorhas Region, (if the wilder, southernmost part of it), was an undeniably intimidating sight—as were her first two partners: Barbarian, her Mega-Evolving Garachomp, and Orhpanmaker, her foul-tempered Hydreigon. But there was a softer, gentle side to the woman as well, clearly demonstrated in her tender care for the Comfey she called Zuala with an odd, sad smile. Bone Harp, her music-loving Alolan Marowak perhaps best embodied the duality of his trainer, even as Angel Wings, the Togekiss, best exemplified the hope and the light that she strove for, despite her painful past. But less any opponent be tempted to forget the sheer power at her command, the team was anchored by Strom Lord, the Legendary Zekrom.
Yes, the Mighty Nein (as they were called for reasons no one in the watching crowd fully understood) were certainly the center of attention as the opening ceremony of the tournament unfolded—stories of their convoluted and dangerous journey to this point had spread on ahead of them, even ridiculous rumors that they’d single-handedly stopped the latest war and brought peace to the regions; and many were curious to see what they could muster as solo battlers, rather than the unit that they had operate as for so many of their adventures. Then, the final entrant of the tournament was introduced and his team revealed, and a ripple went though the stadium crowd and home audience alike—could this contender be the one who could upset what had looked to be a sure sweep for the Nein?
He was introduced simply as ‘Matt’, but there was nothing simple about his team: Pumat the Oranguru was a formidable tank; Kiri the Chatot hid some surprising tricks while her gimmick distracted attention; his Gigantimaxing Drednaw, Orly, was fearsome in battle despite a generally friendly disposition; crowd-favorite Essek, the Weavile, was no above using shady tactics where necessary, while Yussa, his Kommo-o tended to rely more on overwhelming power. But a pall hung over the arena as his own Legendary was revealed—what did it mean that he had a Guzzlord, and why was it called ‘The Eyes of Nine’?
As the ceremony drew to a close, one man turned away form the large screen outside of the stadium—he’d seen as much as he needed to, what he’d come to see. He looked to his own team of three—found along a path of a life anything but simple: Bloodhunter, the Grimmsnarl whose terrifying appearance belied a selfless heart; the colorful and fun-loving Oricorio, Carnival; and the solemn Chandelure he called Death while still smiling). Mollymauk nodded to the three of them with a friendly wink as they made their way from the stadium.
“Don’t they all look impressive now? Hardly recognize ‘em. Let’s put old Luci down once and for all and heave a heartfelt reunion—Whatdya say?”

Ecstatic Requiem 4
  This shouldn’t happen.
  This couldn’t happen!
  No.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no—!
Air tastes like toxic as it slithers straight to her lungs. Vision is blurred. Face is pale as the moon above. If it wasn’t for Hibiki standing by her side, Kotone would have passed out or fallen to the ground.
The crimson ‘R’ still sticks close to her brain like glue.
A single gulp felt like lead in her throat.
“This can’t be…” she mutters, over and over like a broken tape. From the moment they saw the ‘R’ signal and checked their Pokégear for further investigation, Kotone could feel herself losing air at the lack of proper breathing.
Her contacts are missing. Her mom’s. Professor Elm’s. The gym leaders’. Red’s.
  Silver’s.
They can’t log into the internet. They can’t find any way to communicate with others. After long, long minutes of rummaging through their devices, Kotone and Hibiki decided to run out of the hidden area and go back to the nearest place: Azalea Town.
Every step they took wrecked fear into their hearts.
And now, as both stand before the entrance to Azalea Town, Kotone once again feels as if she is about to drop to the ground.
A grip on her left hand tightens gently.
Quietly she looks to the side. Hibiki merely looks at her, forlorn gaze gleaming in each iris. Yet the smile he wears seems sincere, seems hopeful, giving her the push she needs in hopes, in hopes…that this is nothing but a long, horrifying dream.
“Come on,” he says, assurance forcibly dripping in his tone. Lips purse tightly. His right hand grips her left. His own left hand has curled to a tight, shaking fist.
  Fear overwhelms them both.
Words are absent, yet a smile finally twitches, tickles the corners of her mouth. A single nod is given. Hazel eyes then dart to the entrance. The building seems gloom and dull, a complete contrast to the traditional, nature-like colours that enwraps the building in her time.
  Her time.
Air is held tightly inside her lungs, both walk inside.
Air turns to broken gasps at the sight of the town.
Azalea Town was a happy, small, peaceful community filled with tradition and family values. The Pokémon and people live together in harmony. Children were seen running about, laughing and talking with their toys and friends while adults smile peacefully at the safety and security of their peaceful little town. It was always filled with greenery, always filled with water and grass-types as Azalea Town was also a place for these beautiful Pokémon.
The sun was always shining. The trees were always dancing. To breathe the air of Azalea Town was to breathe a new life.
But now, as she stands before the dark environment that she cannot recall what it should have been, Kotone feels as if the town in her memories are a dream all along.
“W-Wha-at…” The question breaks into shaky gasps. Pupils shrink, swallowed by the horrified gleams of hazels. “What…happen…?” One, two, three steps she takes. Her hands are shaking, palms opened as fingers tremble at the cold chill of the wind.
The sun is gone, shielded by dark clouds that paints the dead town.
There are no children running about. There are no Pokémon basking under the sun. Adults are seen at least, but the way they walk are wary and slow. Some even smoke on a nearby building—
What…the hell… is all she thinks next as Kotone realizes the building nearby is a gambling centre.
The bright lights are blinding to a fault. The loud music drowns any sounds nature can ever produce. Vomit and spit and something she will rather not say foul the air. It makes her nauseous. It makes her cringe.
Slowly she walks the area. Cautious steps are taken, legs feel like lead as gaze falls on the ruined peace. The Pokeballs strapped to her belt are shaking, trembling slightly as they too see the sight that befalls them.
Careful, is all Mewtwo whispers to Kotone. While he wishes to pop out of his ball to protect her from danger, the Genetic Pokémon feels it in his gut to better stay inside rather than announce himself out in the open.
His trainer can take care of herself. But Mewtwo can only clench his fists at the swirling distress in her heart.
  Kotone walks…and walks…
Her destination is unknown, both to Hibiki and herself. Her childhood friend walks a step behind her. His hand has held his Meganium’s Pokéball, but he remains it clipped to his belt to avoid suspicion.
“The hell…” Hibiki responds, just as dumbfounded. While he keeps his pace with her, he takes in the surroundings with a heavy frown.
The trees are chopped, gone and replaced with electrical poles and huge billboard signs. Trash and filth fill the area that was once lakes and parks. The buildings are rundown, scraped from paint or materials that use to liven up the community. These buildings are small, too small and too uncomfortable for anyone to live in. Some of the rooftops are only a wide scrap of zinc, and the trainer holds his breath when he sees blood in some of the walls.
There is one building that is huge, though; Hibiki freezes in his place at the sight. The colour red mostly fills his vision, further tightening the pits of his stomach at the grim reminder of what shouldn’t be.
More people are seen—much to Hibiki’s horror—sprawling and withering in the darkest corners of the buildings. Some stand silently. Others sit limply. While most…he looks away at the bodies that remain motionless in the cold.
  “No…”
Her voice, broken and wheezed, snaps him back to reality.
He looks at her. “Kotone…?” She has stopped. Her eyes are wide. Her hands press against the sides of her head. “Hey…Ko-Kotone?” Worry blooms where disgust once resided a few minutes ago. “Kotone, what’s—?”
“This…can’t…b-be…” The words are nothing but a weak murmur.
One hand hovers across her. “Kotone…?”
“No…” She can’t hear him. “No…” She isn’t able to hear him.
Her head then snaps forward, unknowingly causing the man next to her to flinch. Eyes wide in pure mania, Kotone directs her attention to the west side of the town.
Without a run, she runs towards her destination.
“H-Hey!” Worry bursts into panic, “Kotone!” he chases after her.
---
Her heart drops to her stomach.
Following the path she knows so well since she was a teenager, Kotone finally stops and lets out a horrified gasp at the building before her.
Or at least…what’s left of the building.
“Kotone!” Once again Hibiki catches up to her. Pants of air escapes him as he brings both palms to his knees. “Geez! Please don’t run off like that!” Mild annoyance tickles him that their roles are now reversed. Exhaling a loud sigh, he straightens his back and faces her. “Seriously, what got you…so…riled…” Grey eyes follows what she sees, “up…”
The building—a house—before them is only pieces of demolished walls. The roof is missing. The paints of the house have faded to black and smoke. No grass nor trees are present. No lakes nor puddles appear. Only a single bicycle can be seen perched on the front yard.
A bicycle that is charred to its steel. Just like the house.
“Old Man Kurt!” Without haste, Kotone dashes inside. The door is absent, instead replaced with Spinarak and Ariados webs. Fear of the inevitable drowns her mind, she rips them all apart and scrambles in.
“O-Oi!” Hibiki follows suit, panic reaching its peak every minute.
---
Once they entered, fear only stays rooted in their hearts.
Everything is gone. Destroyed. All precious items and furniture are nothing but soot and dust. Not a human nor Pokémon is present, much to their vain relief. The earth underneath them has filled the once beautiful house. Creak…creak…their steps grimly fill the haunting silence.
“Tch…” Anger suddenly fills her. One hand quickly unsnaps a Pokéball, and Kotone releases Charlie. The Charizard comes out quietly, head lowered as if she understands the horrifying situation. Using the fire on her tail, she carefully lights up the room.
What they see does not ease the tension at all.
Everything is charred to black. Everything is broken and tattered to pieces. The roof gone, both humans and Pokémon can see the terrifying picture that paints their eyes forever.
There aren’t any humans nor Pokémon.
  Good. It’s good.
Finding a broken branch, Hibiki carefully lights up the end of the wood with Charlie’s fire. “Thank you,” he mouths quietly, lips curling a smile amidst his trouble heart. Grey eyes then look at Kotone, who still has shock envelope her entire body. “Kotone,” he calls out, waiting as she finally reacts to him, “I’m gonna look around the other room.  I…” What will he say? What will he do? This is a situation none of them ever thought would be thrown into.
Sometimes, both of them this hope—beg—this is nothing but a nightmare.
“We’ll see if we can find anything.” The meaning of the words contrasts to what he said, but judging by Kotone’s firm nod, he knows he got his words through. One hand then unclips his Marill’s Pokéball, but he chooses not to unleash her yet. Other hand tightened on the makeshift torch, Hibiki walks towards the next room.
Which leaves Kotone alone with Charlie. In and out and in and out the trainer takes a deep breath. Her heart still races. Her forehead still sweats. Trembling hands curl into fists. Dull nails dig deep into her palms.
  ‘Kotone…’
Charlie’s soft growls plant Kotone back to the ground. Hazel eyes snap open; she doesn’t realize they have been shut tight. Quickly she looks at her Kanto starter. “It’s okay, girl…” It has to. “I’m okay…” I have to.
Mewtwo’s Pokéball rumbles lightly on her belt.
Right hand gently pets Charlie’s muzzle. The fire-starter feels warm. Kotone doesn’t realize her body has gone cold since she came to this time.
Slowly she takes a deep breath. “Let’s go look around.”
The Charizard nods once. Navigating her way to the rubble, both trainer and Pokémon observe the area. There isn’t any living thing inside. Everything has been licked by flames. Kotone looks up, right at the walls that were once a soothing brown. The Celebi statue is missing, possibly shattered, as she can’t find the object anywhere. The pictures that she used to see are gone. She can’t find the picture of Kurt and Professor Oak. She can’t find the picture of the old man smiling happily with his only grandchild and her Slowpoke.
She will be fine. Kotone has to be fine.
She presses forward, careful steps creaking the burnt floors. The stars and moon are out tonight. While the sky paints a glorious picture, the earth below is nothing but horrors and smoke.
The stars mock her, Kotone thinks.
While everything is gone, nothing seems to be too horrifying—at least in her book—as she stands in the middle of the room. “Old Man Kurt…little Tina…” Hands shakily rub the goose bumps on her arms. “Where are you…?” I hope… Steeling her shaken heart, Kotone moves on to the next room, I hope—
  —you’re safe—
  Craaack—squish!
Darkness looms far worse than the previous room. But before Charlie could enter and light the way. Before Kotone could stop and adjust her vision of the surrounding abyss.
Before the nauseating stench slithers up into her nostrils, Kotone chokes out a silent gasp.
Once Charlie enters the rooms—and flinches at the foul smell—she brings her tail up to light up the room.
Ironically, the stars and moon help too, and this doesn’t help them on what they see.
A corpse of burnt flesh and bones is curled onto a charred futon. A bigger, charred skeleton—with a head and tail gone from its body—is seen by their side. Flesh of black coat them. Skin of soot is spread against scraped, wooden floors. Their arm, their small, frail, skeletal arm, is spread across the bones next to them—
  A small…frail…skeletal—
  Kotone wants to scream.
  She staggers—squish—!
Her body jolts. Her eyes manic.
Fear is a shadow that swallows her whole. Fear is a poison that pours her lungs with dread. Her arms remain stiff and apart. Her jaw drops open, inviting the disgusting smell to gargle her throat.
Her head is a robot. Inch. By inch. By inch. Tilting down to the source of the sound.
The stars and moon are very bright tonight, as they reveal what she is standing on.
An upper jaw is positioned closely to her left foot. Its rotten teeth touch the materials of her shoe. A head of black and bones is placed vividly above the hilariously clean spot of the floor. Its sockets, while one is absent of an eyeball, the other still possess its own; the eyeball is black as soot and pops out just an inch as it is looking directly at her.
Her foot remains frozen on the skeleton’s lower jaw, on the spot Kotone has stepped and cracked.
Pupils shoot to tiny, tiny, dots.
---
“Arceus…” The word seethes out between gritted teeth. The torch in his hand is brought up, giving him more areas to observe as he takes in his surroundings. The kitchen is just in bad shape as the living room. The food and spices are long gone and rotten. The fridge is opened, showing more Spinarak webs and what he hopes to Arceus are Ariados’ eggs; Hibiki makes a mental note to leave as soon as possible before the Pokémon’s parents come ba—
  “AAA-AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!”
Hibiki actually jumps at the shrilling sound. A heartbeat pounds once and twice, and it is immediately then that the trainer knows who the sound belongs to.
“Kotone!” Waiting for neither confirmation nor assurance, he stumbles around and makes a mad dash towards her.
---
Hibiki almost dropped the torch once he finds her.
  “Koto—!”
“NOOOO! NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO FUCK—OH ARCEUS NO!!!”
Her screams shock the poor man. A flash of red waves madly in front of him, and Hibiki quickly reaffirms himself that it is just her Charizard’s tail flapping about.
“Kotone!” Grey eyes spot her, curled in Charlie’s arms with her own wrapped around her head. The pair is on the far corner of the room, right next to an open space that was once supposed to be a wall. His eyes are on her, on his friend. Though body engulfed by the starter’s arms, Hibiki can see Kotone tremble, shake, whimper.
  Panic floods his mind.
  “Kotone, what—” Crack-squish!
He immediately stops in his tracks.
The torch is still firm in his tight grasp. His foot is still pressed deep against what he hopes, what he gravely hopes, is furniture.
He wants to looks down. He wants to badly to look down.
But he steels himself. Eyes slowly shut, Hibiki cocks his head up and shakily moves the torch forward.
He then snaps his eyes open.
Sweat drips from his head to the corpse underneath him. Pupils shrink to dots. While he hasn’t realized the two charred bodies on the futon, Hibiki is instead taken aback at the marking on the wall before him.
A huge mark stains the wall. Drips of dark, crusty red has dried; some didn’t manage to trickle down to the futon below it. Splatters of the vile colour is spread apart like fireworks. Hibiki wants so badly to move the torch away, for he can see chunks of…pink and black stuck to the single letter.
  R
It paints the wall red. It paints the wall bloody red.
---
  “Please…”
The voice sounds so soothing, yet so desperate.
  “Please…don’t give up…”
He still feels her grip on his wrist. He still feels that warmth tickling his skin.
The image is blurry. All he sees is brown and black. He tries to make out the form of a person. Was it a person? He can’t remember. The image seems fuzzy. Unreachable. Indescribable. Yet he can feel the touch on his wrist. He can hear the sound that lulls him to this day.
“Please…” He wants to hear more. “Please…” He wants to feel more.
  “Please—”
  He needs to find her.
  Silver eyes flutter open.

Can you tell some stories of your support Pokemon you keep in your lab?
Sure! We’ve acquired a good hefty pack of shuppet, all of which have been feeding off the negative feelings produced when nervous Pokémon come in for care. They double up as my own support team, one will usually be around me, this job comes with a lot of stress and I get anxious and quite down some days. They just help regulate that, not only for myself but for the Pokémon in our care. Recovery is a lot calmer when you can moderate how much negative emotion you feel. Post surgery or traumatic situations we will often pair up a shuppet to a guest Pokémon, they can be really good company, showing great compassion. Of course there’s a few that just like to be nosey and don’t come to help, but that’s fine, it’s not something we ask them to do, they just started to show up one day and we got the idea to feed them and see if any wanted to be part of the whole healing thing we do here haha. Turns out they do!
Uhh lab Pokémon, oh man, My idiot baby Porygon-z, Dutch. He’s usually my go to man on the inside....of the computer. I get frazzled with emails and finding stuff sometimes, so he helps keep things pretty streamline, makes lab work and recording data a hell of a lot easier too! With him around he can essentially do as a modern day Rotom can, jumping into devices. He records notes, files stuff and generally keeps me on time. I can get a little distracted, or bogged down by one task, with him around I can stick to a schedule way better.
I personally have an abra that has been around for three generations. We can’t quite tell his age for sure but it’s real old. We received him off a family who had passed this Pokémon from generation to generation and finally it was becoming apparent that it didn’t want to live that life anymore. We took it in and I originaly planned to let him go free once I found a good location for him. Turns out he liked the island, this was a while back now, so he’s seen it grow into a vibrant forest and hub of life. He’s happy here, at least I hope! They called him Rosco, and he still goes by that name. His age means he’s got some serious power despite not evolving, and we utilise his teleport abilities to nip about the island with great speed, he’s also a pretty fierce battle partner, though he doesn’t really get too involved unless it’s necessary. When I get super bad bouts of depression, we’ll sit together, usually with a few other Pokémon who want to join in, and he’ll regulate heartbeats, calm brain spikes, and trigger almost like a system reset in your brain, so you can pass through the harsh low points without too much trouble. He’s a very tentative little thing and will come to me if he sees it coming, and we can work through it. He will always be your friend if you give him food. He can and will be bought for the high price of one Dorito. With his telekinesis he also makes for a handy aid in lifting heavy Pokémon. An all round winner!
We have a constant coming and going of grass types, a lot of which produce soothing scents so that’s always super calming, but nothing quite beats going to the recovery greenhouse where my original starters reside now. A bulbasaur called Potato, not really a support Pokémon but does know when I’m down and brings me berries. He’s done this for years, he’ll just kind of sit with you quietly and wait. A good boy. The other is a Meganium, full name ‘Summer Skies’ but we all call her Sunny. she’s a real sweetheart, we met years ago, got her from a discount plant store, some employee overwatered her and she got real sick. I took her home and fixed her up, was my first real glimpse into the future thinking about it. Potato was always so healthy but helping Sunny get better kind of nailed into me. She’s the start of it all really haha. Anyway, she produces a scent specific to her, very fresh and sweet. It soothes nervous dispositions and helps level me out after a tough day, or before a stressful event. She’s not only a darling but family, and spends her days healing up plants and Pokémon alike beside me. Her and potato make sure everything’s ok while I’m away from that recovery unit.
there’s Valka and Bob, respectively a vulpix and a torkoal. They can give me a heat boost, sometimes I go freezing cold randomly and it can leave me feeling very nauseous. If I can warm up enough I can stop it getting worse. Both of these Pokémon also double up as garden and sample tissue disposal. Infected plant matter spreads diseases if not properly dealt with, and sometimes it’s best to burn some of it. They keep the place pretty tidy, and we make sure to do this all in a controlled environment to cause minimal damage to anything else.
there are of course endless Pokémon that we have in and around the lab, individuals with a sense of duty, who want to protect the island, some species hold dance classes for young Pokémon, or keep others entertained with jokes and games. We all do our part here, and try our best, and together running the island and it’s facilities aren’t so difficult. We encourage Pokémon to go out and live their life, and return many to the wild, but sometimes you end up with some that just dont want to go, and they end up part of our big idiot family. When your back aches a bit, someone usually is around to help pick up the thing you dropped. If you over did it digging the garden, be sure a ground type will come in and help turn the soil to grow food for everyone. It’s kind of just the way here, we all support each other, and want Pokémon who come to us to feel as calm about it all as possible.

Gosh playing Mystery Dungeon really made my remember my old PMD oc's. They didn't have names of course so it was more or less like
Team A
Infernape, the literal fiery hot head, main protagonist, everyone thinks it's a miracle he made it here even though he was the founder of the Team with Lucario's help
Lucario, the calm and cool leader type, infernape's rival, easily annoyed, most girl pokemon fell for him quickly and Infernape hated this
Lopunny, the gutsy spazz everyone had a thing for, which she KNEW and would use this for favors
Gardevoir, not even technically part of the team but she was shiny and had to be protected by them for some reason. Had her own hair style and ribbons. She was sassy.
Team B
Typhlosion, a good lad with a heart of gold
Swampert, a bit skeevy but a good guy
Meganium, happy hippy girl the two fought over constantly, she of course is oblivious
Team kiddo
Eevee, Shinx, and Vulpix, everyone's kid brothers and sister. Eventually becomes Shiny Umbreon, Luxray, and Ninetales and super powerful
The bad guy gang
Weavile, a thief and the only one ever capable of beating Lucario
Gallade, the shadow leader of the group that was calm and cool but somehow lost to Infernape despite being stronger than Weavile
Wobbuffett, the secret weapon that redirected every attack
Feraligatr, the true mega threat
The Leaders
Garchomp, a former pirate forced to repay his dues but ended up leading several generations down the tight path, current Guild Leader and successor to Torterra
Old Man Torterra, a relic older than the town itself. He's so old he's adopted and raised the great grandchildren of the grandchildren of the first generation he helped raise on his back. Cheerful old man, wacky and weird, Yodaeque.
King Empoleon, maniacal and spoiled self proclaimed emperor of the land. I don't remember a lot for him, just that he gets in a fight with both Infernape and Lucario.
Notable bros
Heracross, Toxicroak, Crobat, Arcanine, Wailord, etc
The bad guy
Giratina, because satan. Somehow he had something to do with the Darkrai incident in PMD 2 and created Gardevoir for an evil purpose, killed Arceus momentarily.
Mewtwo, because reasons
I wish I was still as creative as I was back then
