What about a different type of Au!? In Season 1 When Colin is at the Featherington house trying to court marina. what about while he is waiting for his turn a duke or a Visount who Penelope met while helping him out of a situation shows up t court Penelope and while they are talking he make Penelope laugh meanwhile Colin who is supposed to be their for marina is looking at Penelope and the caller and realizes as he makes her laugh that he loves and is super jealous and trying one up the caller the whole time. How do you Think that would go?
Chaos, typical Bridgerton chaos. A scene is about to be made. Colin was already standing next to the seated Penelope waiting for his turn to talk to Marina so he got a front row seat of Marquess Odysseus Rose of Winchester.
Colin first noticed him out of the corner of his eye. The man quietly slipped into the room. Colin would put him around a little bit taller than him, Benedict’s age with Anthony's build and quiet confidence. The man's hair was dark, darker than Colin's own chestnut hair, and scruff along his face. His brown eyes were scanning the room.
“Pen do you know who that is?” Colin whispered to Penelope. Was it a relative of her’s? If not why wasn’t he announced? Who was he looking for?
Penelope’s eyes followed Colin’s line of sight, recognition lighting them once she landed on the man. “That is the Marquess of Winchester, Lord Rose.”
“So not a relative of your’s?” Colin asked.
Penelope shook her head. “No, I assume he is here to call on Marina like the rest of the gentlemen. Odd though, the rumors say he is more focused on his academics than looking for a wife.”
Marquess Rose looked in their direction, as if sensing their stares. A small smile formed on his face as he began to walk over to the pair. Colin noticed in his hands he carried a quill made out of a peacock feather and two journals. One of the journals was plain, something he himself has used before during his Grand Tour, the other was embossed with a floral design.
“Miss Featherington.” Marquess Rose bowed his head. “I had hoped to see you.”
Colin looked back down at Penelope. Again? They’ve met before?
Penelope giggled.
Wait, giggled? Colin found himself leaning back a little. Since when was Penelope this comfortable with some stranger? Colin felt his eye twitch, and his hand slid across the top of the chair until the back of Penelope’s head was unknowingly leaning against his fingers.
“Pen,” Colin said stressing her name. He wasn’t sure if it was to grab her attention or this stranger’s in front of them. Either way he had gotten both. “I don’t believe I have had the pleasure of meeting your new friend.”
“Oh.” Penelope blushed. So bright, and red. They reminded Colin of his favorite fruit raspberries. “Marquess Rose this is Mr. Bridgeton.”
Marquess Rose turned towards Colin, was he sizing him up?. “Bridgerton? I believe I went to school with your brother Benedict.”
“That sounds about right, you look to be about his age.”
“So you are the third brother?”
It was innocent question, many have asked it before, but something about having a titled lord ask him that in front of Penelope set Colin on edge.
“He’s the traveling brother,” Penelope said.
Colin tried not to flinch.
Something lit up in Marquess Rose’s eyes. “You travel? Have you heard the folktales from the places you travel to?”
Colin nodded, unsure why the marquess would be asking about folktales.
Thankfully Penelope spoke up. “Lord Rose studies different folktales around the world and how similar figures have appeared in different cultures.”
Marquess Rose nodded. “Yes, I am currently focusing on mermaids and maidens of the sea. It’s utterly fascinating how similar and different each part of the world views them and how they came to be.”
A lord and an academic? So he actually has a brain under that pretty head of hair? Dear god, no wonder Penelope seems excited to be in his company. Colin found himself wanting to shoo Marquess Rose off to see Marina already. So what if the marquess showed up last he’s sure Lady Featherington would push him right up to the front if she knew he was here. Maybe Colin should let the lady of the house know someone new was in it.
As if she had a similar thought, and Colin did find it so satisfying that Penelope could almost read his mind sometimes, she pointed her head in the direction of her cousin. “Calling hours are almost over soon. If you wish to see Marina my lord you may want to make your way over there.”
Marquess Rose looked confused, and. . . no. No he was not here for-
“I am sorry Miss Featherington but I am actually here to call on you.”
Penelope’s face flushed again, her eyes darting everywhere but the marquess. “Me?”
Colin felt himself go stiff.
Marquess Rose chuckled. “Yes, you Miss Featherington. I had quite enjoyed your perspective on the sirens from the Odysseys. I had hope that you would take mercy on this lord and share your thoughts on Queen Penelope of Ithaca.”
Rumors say he’s not interested in finding a wife my ass, Colin thought, his grip tightening on the chair.
Before either Penelope or Colin could respond Lady Featherington had announced that calling hours were over.
“Here,” Marquess Rose said handing Penelope the embossed journal and peacock quill. “Write your thoughts in here. I can come back another day for you to share them with me.”
“Lord Rose these are too fine for me-”
Marquess Rose cuts Penelope off by closing her hand around the quill and journal. “They are my courting gift to you. One of many actually.” With that Marquess bowed his head to Penelope one more time before leaving.
Colin and Penelope both stared at where the marquess had just left. Well Penelope stared, Colin glared.
Penelope traced the new quill. “This is the first time someone has came to call on me.”
Colin felt himself bristle. He had. . .came to call on Marina, not Pen. As Penelope stroked the spine of the journal Colin promised himself that the Marquess would not be the only caller Pen had tomorrow.
“What are you doing?” Benedict asked.
Colin was surrounded by books, looking as if he was on a mad quest to find the right one. In one hand he held the story of Eros and Psyche, while the other held the Odyssey.
“One of your old schoolmates, the Marquess of Winchester, came and called on Penelope today.”
Benedict scrunched up his nose, trying to think back on who this marquess is. “Okay, what does this have to do with you tearing apart the library?”
“He claims he wants to court her,” Colin spat the word, “but when he first arrived he said he wanted to hear her thoughts on the Queen of Ithaca in the Odyssey. Then he left her with a  journal and quill, but no book to reference from. Without a doubt he is looking to embarrass Pen just because she is clever and witty.”
Benedict crossed his arms. “Still doesn’t explain the library.”
“I am going to call on Penelope tomorrow as well with a gift of the Odyssey that she may reference and examine,” Colin said. Now getting up from the floor he began placing both books in a bag. “If Lord Rose thinks-”
“Oh you mean Odysseus-”
“HIS NAME IS ODYSSEUS?!”

What would Ody's reaction to meeting @loupy-mongoose's Nico be? i feel like he'd either be immensly curious upon meeting an alternate version of himself or he'd be freaking out... both would probably freak out tbh
After recent events and seeing Meau more complex personality, actions, and power; he’d actually have a very different reaction then you might think!
Seeing Nico with his scar, the weariness behind his eyes, and overall demeanor, Odysseus would catch on to the similarities between that look and the one Meau has. So he would likely stand there, looking up at him, asking what goes wrong that makes them like this. Aware that’s an alternate version of himself, especially after meeting @pokemon-ash-aus Indigo and @xxtc-96xx Scarfy… Ody has had a very somber meet and greet with his older counterparts.
Lil dude know somethings up, but no one has the heart to tell him what or if he’ll be able to avoid it in his special circumstances ;<

So discovered the Epic musical and it’s fantastic , and of course my sentimental self immediately went to “Ok but what if Odysseus actually did raise Astyanax as his own —fluff/angst with a happy ending AU” 😅
So anyway here’s some quick rough doodles on that premise, might be more later

tw for descriptions of zombies, death, slight gore and body decay (decomposition)
The Odyssey but Odysseus died at Troy. Yet his drive to see his wife and son was strong enough for him to lift his rotting limbs. He stumbles around - a corpse should not move. He has only one goal in mind: Ithaca, Penelope, Telemachus. His body is weak and frail, it constantly collapses and fails him. His body wants to return to the earth. He should be in the ground right now, his body grass and moss. But his mind lives, and he lifts his body off the ground no matter how long it takes him. His mind and body are divided, both long for their own goals. He makes no sound but a whisper: "Ithaca. Penelope. Telemachus." He doesn't remember where his home is. But he keeps whispering. People hear him. He can't talk, can't think anything except those three. They will ask him, "Who are you?". He can only give them a glassy stare, haunted and utterly wrong. It's not natural. He only murmurs "Ithaca. Penelope. Telemachus." and glances away, before dragging himself away. He has no name, at least not one he can remember. His mind consists only of those three thoughts. They think him a mad man. No one recognizes him as the king of Ithaca, his face sunken and destroyed. Even if someone did recognize him, well - Odysseus died at Troy, after all. They try to capture him, but no one dares approach that walking mass of rot and blood. They try to kill him. Arrows tear through the remaining muscle. Spear tips poke out of his ribs. He will collapse on the ground, they will think he died. But it's only his body. They cannot kill what's already dead. So he will push himself up - moments, hours, days or weeks later. And he stumbles on. And he whispers. He can't hear or register any words that people speak. He will only turn his head when he hears someone say Ithaca, Penelope, Telemachus. He follows those whispers. They get more frequent, until everyone around him is saying those three words sacred to him. Until his thoughts materialize before him.
Okay so now I have two endings:
1. A bit of his mind gives away when he reaches Ithaca, when he kisses her shores. Another fragment is gone when he holds his son in his arms, when he kisses him. He sees the suitors, 108 men trying to get their hands on his wife. On his Penelope. It's enough to make him think straight, at least for a bit. He wants to kill them right then and there. But Telemachus stops him, he has to restrain him. Odysseus obeys. It's easy to put something so breakable and weak under control. But he only thinks of suitors' blood. And eventually, they shed it. Odysseus is like a beast, death itself casting doom upon anyone his sunken eyes land on. And finally, he sees Penelope. His mind gives way when he is in her arms again, when he kisses her. His mind has no thoughts anymore, he reached his goal. There's nothing to hold his body upright anymore. No goal to reach - well, except one. One he should've reached on the beaches of Troy, a decade ago. Death. He finally dies the next morning, going still in their olive bed.
2. He is slow. His body is weak, he trips everytime his toes touch the ground. He is slow, but it's okay. He doesn't have to stop, he has no physical needs to meet, except the one of his mind. Not his heart, that one has been dead for a while now. And he follows the words of others, echoes of his own whispers. And he reaches Ithaca, eventually. But the people are different. They wear different clothes, they speak a different language. No one says those three words. It should have been obvious, the way those names slowly faded as he went from city to city, land to land. He was slow, too slow. Penelope and Telemachus are gone now. They have been dead for who knows how long. But his mind's needs are not met, the drive is still there. So he wanders the lands, searching for something long gone - always whispering under his breath.
I'm very fond of both endings aughh, I'll need to write this down sometime.
Another version is where Odysseus' personality and mind have been slowly chipped away over the course of his journey until he became nothing but the embodient of his drive to see his wife and son. His body is forgotten, thin and torn. He is dead. Perhaps he is not. It's hard to tell at this point. When does a man die - is it when his heart stops beating and blood stops rushing in his veins, or when his mind is gone? (probably would get the first ending).

Please, please, please 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 my kingdom for more of the Odysseus story 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Anon asked: O please for the love of all that is holly i want to gear more about Peneloe and Odysseus and Colin seething because Penelope now doesn't believe Colin might want to court her too because he chose Marina first. It has so much potential to be hilarious and full of sheneanigans.
Okay confession. I was not expecting my Odysseus post to take off like that. I see you guys and I hear you too, in my asks and my comments, but I really am unsure where I want to take it next. So have a mood board for now while I try to figure it out.

I'm wondering what the crew members who opened the bag felt like when poseidon drowned all those ships
Because they were on the same ship as odysseus and will likely join the mutiny
So I imagine that when they get away from poseidon they were just like "hahahaha wtf"
"Sorry captain we opened the bag that you clearly said held the storm inside and was dangerous"

listen, but… tsoa school-au??
- odysseus is that cool teacher™who allows you to leave his lesson before the break
- before school he always buys some flowers to his wife penelope, also a teacher, and brings to her lessons
- patroclus was transferred to this school because he had a fight in the last one (not his fault, but still)
- on the first day odysseus tells him to sit with achilles — this is a beginning of a great friendship (and a great romance 😌)
- chiron is a teacher of biology
- students are still not sure do they like him or are they scared of him
- he ships patrochilles together with odysseus and like always puts them in the same group (“sir why do you always let achilles and patroclus work together? — “heracles it’s a romance you idiot”)
- achilles and patroclus go to the drama class, where they meet briseis and became friends with her
- briseis came to their school on an exchange program and still don’t know language very well, so patroclus helps her
- achilles is jealous even though he didn’t tell patroclus about his ✨feelings✨, but briseis cooperates with odysseus and chiron
- and — finally! — patroclus starts dating with achilles — thetis doesn’t mind it bc she doesn’t know
