I have two questions regarding your Skyrim OC Calliope if that's alright. (Super new to Tumblr so idk the etiquette yet, sorry!)
1. You have a screenshot with earmuffs on with her and they are so adorable, which mod are they from? I so need them in my game too!
2. Do you have a backstory for your OC? I tried to use Tumblr search function to find out more but it hasn't helped me turn of a post of yours and it's kinda confusing
Anyway thanks for your time!
Awww thank you and welcome to tumblr! Always happy to answer asks that's what its there for. Firstly earmuffs! Lots of items and lots of colours
Secondly I don't have a backstory post so that's why you couldn't find it so I guess this will be it! Lol no one has asked her backstory before so this has been all in my head until now
Calliope is a breton born and raised in High Rock. Second child of a minor noble family, her elder brother stood to inherit the family estate and she from a young age wanted to study magic. She and her brother didn't get along very much and they played awful pranks on each other. Her mother and father were ambitious types but focused all their attention on their son. They let Calliope study magic to keep her quiet and thought a talent for magic and good education will get attention at court and she will attract a advantageous marriage to further their ambitions.
Calliope when she came of age then studied with the court wizard and worked her up until she got the rank of apprentice at around 26. However this is where her families plan sort of fall apart. During a masquerade Calliope caught the eye of a new handsome courtier she didn't recognise and had a passionate one night stand with him. Unfortunately for her he didn't disclose the fact that he was married and they are caught by his wife. His wife demands to her family she be removed from court or she reveals the whole scandal to the court and her families reputation will be ruined.
So her family thinks its best for Calliope to leave High Rock until the scandal blows over and continue her magical training. She is sent to the College of Winterhold in Skyrim. Her aunt Collette organises a place for her there and that's where I start my game. The cherry on top of it all is the slighted wife of her tryst heard she was going to Skyrim and just for good measure put a 1000 gold bounty on her in every hold in hopes she'll get killed by bounty hunters or get arrested.
How she meets Taliesin from that location is because when doing a training exercise for Arniel (in Immesive College of Winterhold mod) where she has to dive in freezing cold waters to fetch a crystal. She is quite sensitive to the cold and she passes out returning to the college from the ocean (frostfall) and a mysterious "Rider" picks her up and leaves a note on her saying they took her with them and dropped her off at their destination. They took no payment only hoped that she would surive and maybe show the same kindness one day to a stranger who needs it. She wakes up in an inn in MARKARTH (worst city EVER) so with no money and no equipment she has to walk back to the college avoiding guards and bounty hunters and the wilds of Skyrim. Going past Falkreath she meets Auri and Lucien and while heading back to the college via Whiterun (for some jobs for gold and gather supplies to survive the cold) She meets an insane sounding Thalmor surrounded by bodies covered in blood bleeding out and delirious. Remembering the note and pay that kindness forward, she decides to save his life and that's pretty much where I started posting a lot of screens of Tally and Calliope. I love them and am having lots of with playing their story.
Ohhh that was long sorry 😂 The Dealing with backstories mod helped me a lot setting up this backstory for her, its a very fun mod with consequences in your game and for your character. I do recommend that it's become a staple starting new games and characters for me. Hope this wasn't too long. I'll tag it long post anyway

Remiel: Wraithguard does make an excellent piece of armour. But you know that’s not what it’s for.
Zebulon: Yes. I know it was made to draw great power from the Heart, which no longer exists. I have it now, so I have taken it upon myself to guard it from those who would misuse it. And what better way to do so than by wearing it?
Remiel: …and you want to punch people with it, don’t you?
Zebulon: This is also true.

🐁 🪨 👎 For the OC asks, the Trio.
YIPPEE lets go!!
🐁 Capybaras are friend-shaped. What shape does your OC have?
Emeros - he's calm-shaped. he may be a sarcastic and stressed out elf, but hes also very good at calming people down, so he's just calm-shaped. <3
Wyndrelis - gloomy-shaped. no he doesnt want a hug he just Looks Like That, lanky and gloomy and melancholic.
Athenath - friend-shaped :3
🪨 Someone gifts your OC a shiny rock. What do they do with it?
Emeros - confusion. is it a soul gem? a crystal? something he can grind up for alchemy? he's entirely baffled by the exchange, but he'll very hesitantly pocket it and thank the person for the rock. he might find a use for it later as a paper weight, or decoration.
Wyndrelis - he'll look it over, and if he doesn't find anything interesting about it, he'll pocket it and say thank you and maybe find a jeweler later to sell it to, if they could do anything with it. he'd probably toss it the minute the person isn't looking, because he'd have no idea what to do with it.
Athenath - this is the guy who takes meridia's beacon to mount kilkreath, so needless to say, he likes shiny rocks. they wouldn't know what to do with it, but hey, maybe they could find use for it! a nice shiny rock could be fun to just hang onto for a while, maybe even treating it as a worry stone to rub when stressed.
👎 Is there someone your OC can’t stand, despite them being on the same side or sharing basic values?
Emeros - tullius. he'll never respect or revere general tullius, no matter what. yes, this has more to do with helgen and the execution, but also, he finds tullius to just be grating to be around. different personalities.
Wyndrelis - he finds arniel gane to be aggravating. he finds his voice and mannerisms to be particularly egregious, and thinks of him as a simpering and nervous mess of a mage. he'd never have the gall to say that out loud, though. on account of also being a nervous mess of a mage.
Athenath - athenath and aia arria like to avoid one another. they both think the other is Too Much, in different directions. it's more of a rivalry, wanting to be the best in their classes, but it's good they don't have many classes together. funnily enough, athenath wishes they had aia's confidence. maybe that's why they don't like being around her too much.
thank you so much for sending these!! <3333333333

For Tels please: 1, 4, 13, 15, 17, 28, 36, and 49! -@drunkmiraak
1. What is your character's reaction to a minor inconvenience? Such as getting their jumper caught on a door handle?
they usually give a small curse and a glare before moving on with their day - they will grumble, though.
4. What do they consider to be an unforgivable action? Why?
taking another’s life out of enjoyment. they consider it to be highest form of cruelty.
13. Describe your character's typical wardrobe for the regular day.
enchanted robes - either the robes from their stint in the priesthood, college robes, or house indoril robes - along with long, loose pants tucked into light leather boots (which are lined with fur if they’re up at the college). they have a lot of jewelry, most of it scavenged, all of it with enchantments of varying usefulness (a torque enchanted to fortify alteration, for example, or a hastily made dandelion crown with an enchantment that makes them look taller, or a cheap ring that leaves green marks that has a spell that’ll make you look vague but not enough that anyone will point it out, they’ll just sort of stare and wonder why you look so off today).
15. What is the first thing people notice about them?
probably their bigass glasses, ngl. they have thick, crystalline lenses and are in a bolted dwemer frame. they’re…. not the prettiest of apparels.
17. Who are they soft for? Do they find being soft easy or difficult?
they get soft really easily. i wouldn’t say they’re trusting, or particularly loving, but when they trust you, they trust you, and become very sentimental very easily.
28. If your character was in today's world, what social media platforms would they avoid? Or be prominent on?
i hate to say it but they’d be really active on reddit, especially on any science, history, or non-right leaning conspiracy subreddit. probably posting in r/psijicsightings and r/dwemer or something djdjdj
36. Tell us something about your OC that doesn't make it onto the page?
they can claim very, verrry distant ancestry to almalexia - the niece of a cousin of a direct ancestor or something along the lines of that. almalexia isn’t at the waiting door - a lot of their mother’s side of the family isn’t, and even if they were, the relation would be too distant, plus almalexia’s remains aren’t interred in the ancestral tomb - but their father tries to make up for the loss, despite his own lack of ancestors.
49. What is your character's biggest fear? Most irrational?
biggest fear is zero-summing, or ending up like arniel. most irrational fear is nordic ruins - which isn’t really irrational, but they’ve gotten a few strange looks for refusing to go into them.

22 for finna and gleeb?
22. soup
“It’s like the start of a bad joke,” says Enthir, who is fiddling with a monstrous machine sprouting pipes. “Greasy gear-gatherer and her Falmer friend walk into my workshop. Pass me that wrench—”
“Pass me our money,” growls the greasy gear-gatherer, catching his wrist. “I want half in advance this time.”
And there, says her Falmer friend wearily, rapping out the words on the nearest wall, is the punchline.
Enthir smiles his oiliest smile.
“Oh, dear,” he drawls, delicately reclaiming his hand. “A sum like this, Finna-and-Gleeb”—he never addresses them separately—“and you think I’ll part with a single septim of it before you’ve done your job? That is funny—oh, bones of the earth!” His machine’s boiler is shrieking like a teakettle. He snatches the wrench from his workbench, raising his voice above the din. “Think again, my young friends. Think hard.”
Finna scowls at him. Her second-best buyer is a lean whippet of a wizard, scruffy and snappish and stingy with the money he sneaks from the College’s coffers. It’s easy to forget, watching him tighten screws and snarl Falinesti oaths at his machine, that he’s older than she’ll ever be; elves are strange that way, straight and spry and smiling long after their neighbors start groaning of gout.
Except Enthir isn’t smiling. He smacks the side of the device, and, in the dreadful silence that follows, she sees his face pinch with the pent-up wrath of centuries—
“Ha!” he barks, baring his teeth in a grin as the boiler shivers awake. The pipes that coil around the room like catgut creak and tick. “There she goes. All right, what.”
“We came straight here,” says Finna, unmoving. Though her foot itches for it, she resists the urge to kick the stool out from under him. “Soon as you sent word about a job. We’re hungry.”
“Does this look”—Enthir whacks the boiler again, which clangs like a queasy gong—“like a patisserie?”
Finna wrinkles her nose. She wipes it with the back of her hand, and looks around the workshop: the bobbing magelights, the bubbling cauldrons, the pipes bulging and twisting with steam.
“Looks like indigestion,” she says.
And smells, says Gleeb, sitting comfortably cross-legged at Enthir’s elbow, like cheap cologne.
Enthir smiles. Tightly.
“They’ll sling some slop for you in the refectory,” he grumbles, waving them off. He stands to scribble some notes on a slateboard. “Don’t tell them I sent you, or they’ll probably poison it. Say you’re from the Synod or something. I don’t know. I don’t care, either, incidentally.”
Gleeb pulls his mouth to one side, grimly amused. They’ll throw stones at me.
“My unsightly friend, they’re scholars!” says Enthir, looking with shock over his shoulder. “Enlightened minds! They’ll throw textbooks at you.”
“Piss off,” growls Finna, though it’s his workshop. She gently tugs Gleeb’s ear. “Come on. We’ll ask Gane. Or something.”
Her friend unfolds his limbs like a spider, feeling the space around him for her arm. Finna offers it. As she steers him through the mess of gadgetry and magical paraphernalia, a noise pricks up his ears; he lays a pale and thoughtful hand on one of the pipes, then pats it and smiles helpfully at no one in particular. It’s overheating.
“No, it isn’t,” says Enthir, throwing a baleful glance back at him. “It’s calibrated to exactly—it’s overheating. Shit. Shit.” He scrambles back to his machine. “By the Elden Grove—”
* * *
“And then,” Finna finishes, her voice devoid of emotion, “he caught on fire.”
For a delicious moment, Arniel Gane and his lab assistant stare at her in horror. Then they tumble from their seats and scramble for the door.
“This is—this is terrible!” she hears Gane cry from the corridor, his voice fading fast as he runs. “Just terrible! Who’s going to procure my research materials?”
Finna-and-Gleeb stand for a moment, alone, in the center of Gane’s laboratory.
Then Gleeb laughs—a wheezy, rattling sound—and feels his way to the worktable, where Gane and his assistant have left two bowls of steaming stew.
We should make ourselves scarce, he says, tapping the words on the tabletop, before they find out he’s fine.
Finna, righting Gane’s fallen chair, makes a curt noise of agreement. “But first—soup.”
Soup.
With solemn dignity, they clack their bowls together.

As a student, she was nearly never there, and they knew this, and she knew they knew this. So when they offered her the position, she knew it was because they wanted to get away with things while she was gone (and because she had saved the world from being unmade or whatever but tomayto tomahto). So to fuck with them to establish herself as a leader, she made sure to establish a ground rule that any university funding used for personal research projects had to be approved by her. And no one could argue with it because, she was the Archmage now and they had to deal with it.
This leads us to now, with Arniel Gane sitting opposite Archmage Murza Gra-Largashbur and her best friend Dragonborn Aneis Sagefen standing behind her fooling with the various magical knick knacks behind her desk in a bored manner. The Archmage had long since given up listening to him and had resigned to putting her head in her hands while she waited for him to stop talking.
"-and I'm sure I can have Enthir arrange for its transport into Skyrim, he's well connected like that."
She peeked up at him, "Are you done? Yes? Okay. No."
Arniel arose from his chair and the motion finally caught the attention of the bored warrior. "Archmage, I am on the verge of a breakthrough here! If I could just get my hands on it I could recreate the conditions-"
"'Under which the Dwemer disappeared,' yeah, no, I got that but the college is not paying for you to illegally bring a Profane Tool into Skyrim."
("You're a profane tool," the Dragonborn giggled under her breath.)
"Who said anything about illegality?" Gane replied.
"You did, when you mentioned Enthir."
He shrank back at that. "Oh, you were listening."
Murza rubbed her temples to stave off the oncoming migraine, "Look, Arniel, my answer is no. That's final."
"But Murza if you would just-"
"I think you should let him do it!" Aneis interjected cheerfully. The mages looked back at her, startled and confused by the sudden input.
"And why, exactly, should I?" Murza asked.
"Because," she looked up at him with a sickeningly sweet grin, "it'll be fun to watch him get himself killed."
He went through a few facial expressions before them, startled, offended, contemplative, and finally, scared. "On second thought, Archmage, I don't think I'll be requiring the College's support after all."
He scurried out like a frightened mouse, throwing back looks at Aneis who simply smiled and waved goodbye.
"Gods, Anais," she chuckled, "you can't just say things like that to people."
"You should be thanking me! He was just going to keep pestering you until you caved! And now if he does it, it'll be on his own septim and won't reflect bad on the college."
"Thank you, friend, what would I ever do without you."
"Allow your institution to continue to commit criminal neglect."
"Right."

OC Dump: Johanna's backstory
Johanna spent the bulk of her youth pre-enrollment in the imperial legion studying dwarven craftsmanship under Arniel Gane, a field that she took to quickly as most of it required far more physical and theoretical understanding than it did actual spellwork.
Despite having an incredible grasp of magical concepts and theories, she has never been able to actually draw on the magicka needed to cast even a simple spell, even when wearing enchanted gear (this whole bit came about when a mod I installed fucked with some script or another and put her magicka/armor rating/weapon speed in the fucken negatives. I had to eventually uninstall the mod after it broke my game but the magicka bit was a cool concept so I kept it lol)
I know there's really not much evidence to suggest much of an active academic community in skyrim but there IS hard and fast evidence that Arniel is way more likely to send someone else on errands than he is to do the legwork himself, so I'd imagine Johanna spent a good bit of her apprenticeship running deliveries around skyrim. She definitely knows calcemo and aicantar and probably also that eccentric painting dude added by interesting npcs.
(I'm guessing she also met the guy who ripped off all of katria's work and later on felt fairly vindicated upon receiving proof that he was in fact as much of a douchebag as she initially thought.)
...
Fun sidebar, due to her main field of study, I like to flavor the way that she does enchantments as more dwarven-influenced than contemporary, though I'm not actually sure what that would entail?? Maybe the soul gems are forged into the armor or weapon like a battery rather than consumed as a power source? Either way, her approach is fairly unconventional

🌗📚 Lythras
📚 If your OC was given some kind of forbiddon knowledge, what would they do with it? Would they tell anyone? Use it for evil or good? How would it change their outlook on life, if at all?
she would use it for good! she kinda has forbidden knowledge already - ie, how to repair a clockwork fabricant, and she’s come closer to any other scholar in finding out how the dwemer disappeared (from both the mystery of the dwarves quest in morrowind and arniel’s endeavor in skyrim!), and she uses this knowledge to Repair Her Friend and other fabricants that somehow find their way into nirn, and make sure no one else accidentally removes themselves from existence. she probably writes a book on it
🌗 Early mornings or late nights? What do they spend their time doing during these hours?
late nights!! she reads. So Much,
