AHHH, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ASKING ABOUT MY BABY, TJ!!! I am also gonna tag @endless-oc-creations and @aceyanaheim since they also asked about Via’s relationship with her brothers, and @goldheartedchaoticdisaster and @ginevrastilinski-ocs because I know they love my girl. <3

Her relationship with her brothers:

Via’s relationship with Sam is actually pretty sweet, considering that they didn’t even meet until Via was fifteen and that first meeting was the first time Sam had even been made aware that she existed. It’s a bit awkward at first, sure, but they bond pretty quickly over being Certified John Winchester Haters, and even though Via isn’t very good at research or the more academic parts of hunting, she’s very fascinated by it and is always willing to listen to Sam’s rambling. They also get to bond later on over being Winchester siblings with inhuman powers (or magic, in Via’s case), and overall their relationship is just really sweet and awesome siblings.

Her relationship with Dean is… a lot more complicated than with Sam. They’ve known each other for several years longer than Via and Sam have, but since, as I said, Via absolutely hates John and can’t understand how blind Dean’s faith in him is, and Dean sees Via as being ungrateful that John took her in and taught her something as noble as being a hunter, so they get into a lot of arguments. They definitely get better about that, though, as Dean slowly starts to see John for who he really is, and even when they didn’t get along they would have done anything and given their lives to protect each other - after all, Via is Dean’s baby sister and Dean is Via’s big brother who was her only source of comfort during the darker days after John took her in, and at the end of the day that’s just how Winchester siblings work. (Plus, they eventually get to bond over being in love with angels, and Via’s the one who eventually helps Dean to realize and accept that he’s bi, so while their dynamic is sweet in a totally different way than her and Sam’s is, it is still sweet.)

Her relationship with her dad:

Oh ho ho. When I tell you that Olivia Winchester hates John Winchester with every fibre of her being, I am not kidding. She didn’t hate him from the first moment they met, certainly, but she didn’t exactly ever love him - she wasn’t sure what to make of him when he first picked her up, not understanding why he had never tried to seek her before if he had known she existed. And then he pretty much immediately tells her all about the supernatural existing and starts her training as a hunter, and as soon as she realizes that he and Dean aren’t just crazy, all that confusion turns into resentment, which then turns into hatred. She hates that John cares so little about her mother, so little that he doesn’t even remember her last name when Anne cared enough to give her daughter his last name, and she hates that he forced his children to become his little soliders rather than letting them have a normal childhood (a hatred which only grows when they meet Adam and she learns that he got to live normally), so much that she only ever refers to him as John, never Dad, and only sometimes sir through gritted teeth when he forces it out of her. John, in turn, thinks she’s a defiant, ungrateful little shit and strongly regrets ever taking her in… so, yeah, their relationship isn’t great.

Her relationship with Bobby:

Oh, you mean the guy she wishes was her dad? And who also wishes he was her dad? Yeah, she and Bobby really love each other. They first met shortly after John took Via in, when he dropped her off at Bobby’s house because he was going off on a hunt with Dean and she wasn’t ready to go along with them yet. From the very first moment Bobby laid eyes on that skinny little girl with bags under her eyes from all the nightmares she’d been having, he swore that he would always protect her, even as she got older and sassier and more capable of protecting herself. They tend to trade sarcastic, witty banter back and forth whenever they meet up, and sometimes they really do annoy each other, but Via would still go to Bobby’s house whenever John sent her away for annoying him, and she associates the taste of the shitty dollar-store tea he bought just for her with warmth and love, and they’re both the only person besides the boys (and, later, El) that the other will accept hugs from. Just like with Sam and Dean, Bobby is Via’s dad, no matter what DNA they both have and no matter if either of them ever acknowledge it. (Which they do, anyway. Once or twice Via’s even done it in front of John, both because it’s true and to watch the vein pop out in his forehead.)

Her favorite animal:

Oh, Via loves bats. They are her absolute favorite things ever, besides her sawed-off, and she would very much keep one for a pet if it was safe and allowed. She thinks it’s super cool that they’re the only mammals that can fly and the only flying creatures with thumbs, and besides that, she just thinks they’re the most adorable little guys ever. Dean thinks she’s weird for it and Sam very seriously worries that she’s going to try to pet one one day and have to get a rabies shot, but she’s never going to let that stop her.

Does she accessorize:

Listen. Via is totally a stickers girl in a life that does not very often allow for stickers. She loves them, especially the cool personally designed Etsy ones with Vine quotes and stuff on them, and she’ll buy ones that catch her eye at truck stops and gas stations when she can, but she doesn’t really own a lot that she would be able to decorate with them. Sam does let her put a few that he approves of on his laptop, though, and eventually after she comes out to her brothers, Dean pays someone to sew a lesbian flag patch onto her favorite denim jacket for her birthday. So she does get some opportunities to accessorize, even if it’s not as often as she’d like.

What monster she’s most afraid of:

Very definitely vampires. For as much as she makes a bunch of Dracula jokes whenever they go up against some, it really scares Via that these blood-suckers are so vicious and that there are so few ways to kill them, and that you have to actually get up close to cut their heads off most of the time, which she hates.

What monster she’s least afraid of:

Probably ghosts, although that still depends on the type of ghost and how angry a spirit they are. Mostly, though, they’re pretty easy to deal with and can’t cause too much physical harm, so Via’s usually relieved when they get a ghost case because it’s something of a break from all the shit they usually have to deal with.

oh, i’ve literally never considered this before, thank you so much i’m excited to think about it!

josie’s a photographer so it makes sense she’d have scrapbooks! she’s a kid too so she probably decorated them with glitter and stuff! i imagine she kept one of her family, has one of supernatural stuff, her friends, oh and her spellbook is probably a scrapbook!

i see poppy making them too! she’s got a lot from her grams, so that’s where she learned it from! also, piper def makes em too, like adding poppy to the halliwell sisters scrapbook (huge age difference)!

kinda like journaling dinah laurel likes to make lists of the stuff she needs to get done! she keeps em sometimes.

rylee has a diary bc she’s a tvd oc (lol), but it’s a suggestion from her therapist. her kids in legacies find it later! it’s not that happy at first, we get to see her adjust with her more lonely and shameful passages and then she starts writing happy stuff!

jude has a diary/log of cases, but it can’t be impartially bc it’s half facts, half opinion (and sometimes she just starts ranting about something mid paragraph).

jude winchester - why fandom would dislike them

oh so many reason. spiritual scammer making light of tarot reading and people who actually believe in it, is canonically queer and a woman and doesn’t stay dead when she dies (looking at u, literally every other woman in the show), fights with dean a lot (especially at the start), rude ass, hooked up with jo which would piss off the deanjo shippers, doesn’t take much of anything seriously even when she should to an almost irritating degree, doesn’t care about hunting in the way that the show makes it important and a ‘noble heroic effort’, has a still-living mother that she doesn’t talk to and whenever she tries to bring up her less-than-stellar childhood the fandom would cut it that it ‘wasn’t as bad as sam and dean’s’.

About a boy (Part-15 Final)

Word count: 2.6K

Warning: Feels, mentions of physical abuse and child-trafficking. Did I mention feels?

Summary: Dean Winchester has a secret. A secret that could really land him in trouble. He never expected to connect with anyone when he walked into the ‘Blue Stone Orphanage for Boys,’ but even then, the walls he has put up are slowly coming down. Now, a series of strange events are threatening to expose him. When everything starts falling apart around him, will he still be able to save the one person that matters the most?

About a boy masterlist

“All your stuff is in here,” Dean said, putting the bag on the counter. “Your clothes, books, and everything else.”

The last thing Dean had wanted to do was to go back to the Orphanage, especially now that there was no one there. Better him than Will, though. Which was why he had made up his mind and asked Bobby to make the detour. The place looked haunted, now that it was completely empty, save for the few cops doing rounds and working on the evidence.

Shuffling through Will’s things had made him realise how impersonal all of them were. Most of his clothes were used and donated ones. The five pairs of clothes, including those that he slept in, did not fit him well. The majority of the trunk under his bed was just books- Old, yellowed and tattering books.

Dean had been staring out of the window lost in thought when Bobby made a pit stop outside a shopping centre.

“We have to get something his size for the kid. He can’t step out of the hospital tomorrow in these clothes.”

Dean had to admit; Bobby had been pretty awesome about the whole deal. It had been all trial and error when it had come to raising Dean, but now he knew what he was doing. Will had thanked both Bobby and Jody profusely for wanting to adopt him, and it had taken some convincing to get it through his head that it wasn’t charity or a favour. They really wanted him to be a part of their family.

Convincing him had been mostly easy. The hard part was the Kensingtons. They weren’t willing to let go of Will and were ready to get dirty about it. With all the drama, child services had stepped in. It wasn’t like the Kensingtons could drag Will away with them, but this meant a substantial delay till the paperwork was sorted. Will was stuck here, and Dean wasn’t going to leave him alone in all this. It meant renting a cheap motel for the month, but hey, it was still a million times better than the orphanage.

Presently, Will blinked at the bag. “You went back to that place?”

He could walk now and manage to do most things by himself.

“Sure! Here, try this one on,” Dean said, throwing the new t-shirt on the bed. It was black and had ‘π-rate’ printed on it next to the face of an eye-patch wearing bearded man. “We picked this for you on our way here. See if it fits. There’s a few more inside the bag.”

Will stared at the t-shirt like it was something alien and the expression tugged at something inside Dean.

It was the little things that broke Dean’s heart. Before, he wouldn’t have cared about getting a new shirt, but all this was so new for Will. No one had ever bought him anything; something specially for him and completely his.

This was just the first of many, and Dean was going to be there for all the rest.

It was still subduing to walk Will to the temp centre at Child services. It was a comfortable place, and Dean had promised Will that he would be here as much as he could. Though Will still looked morose going in, like he was doubtful his happiness was lasting.

That night, Dean couldn’t get much sleep between nightmares of Will calling out to him as Andy dragged him into the car and cries of baby Sam when Dean had carried him out of their burning house. He spent the whole night tossing and turning, then woke up late in the morning. It was already too bright outside the window when Dean sat up groggily. Beside him, Bobby’s bed was empty.

He checked the clock. 10:17. Dammit!

What would Will think? Dean had promised to be there early in the morning and now even Bobby had disappeared to some place.

So he did all he could. He washed himself and got dressed for the day, then paced around the room waiting for Bobby, fixing the tiny messes in the room, like empty food bags and burger wrappers. Eventually Dean found himself back on his bed, his bags emptied on the covers.

God, there was so much mess.

He should have cleaned his trunk at least once when he had been living in the dorm, because now there was a gross mouldy half eaten bagel there that he didn’t even remember having touched. Ever.

He hadn’t added anything to what he had left with from Sioux Falls, except some school books. Underneath the pile of clothes, his hand hit something solid. Slowly, Dean pulled out the long rosewood box that Bobby had given him. In all the crazy mess, he had never had the time to actually go through it.

Dean opened it cautiously. The contents had of course remained unchanged, though he was stuck by the power of them all the same. He ran his fingers lightly over the baby angel, and the silver charm bracelet. Maybe it had belonged to his mother, maybe it was an anniversary gift from his dad. The small folding knife was jammed at first, but when Dean pried it open, it gleamed wicked sharp. The inside was etched with H.W. Maybe it had belonged to some long lost family member. Each of the objects was a ‘maybe,’ a story in itself. A story which Dean would never know.

He turned to the black and white pictures, especially to the one where his mom was holding him from behind. If Dean hadn’t known for sure that it was in fact him and his mom, he’d have never believed it. For one, he was smiling too widely. He didn’t ever remember smiling so much, even as a kid, and secondly, mom was beautiful. She was so beautiful. Her eyes were so full of love, that it hurt to look at her, and then it hurt to look away.

If Dean was being completely honest, this was why he had never opened the box again. He couldn’t look at those memories without feeling this ache in his chest. He flipped through the pictures. His parents in front of their car, his dad holding a huge fish, laughing with a friend. His mom kissing baby Sam on the forehead, while small Dean was looking at his little brother. The baby’s hand was tightly wrapped around Dean’s finger. Like he was holding on to something important.

Dean sighed.

What would his mom think of him now? Would she be disappointed in him that he had stopped looking for Sam? Stopped looking for her baby?

If he closed his eyes and concentrated really hard, he could almost hear her voice, humming the notes of ‘Hey, Jude.’

Dean looked at the picture again. She was just so beautiful, and the baby was so happy. Little Sam’s face was turned towards the camera. The hand not holding Dean’s finger was fisted and turned towards the camera, a dimpled smile on his face. His mother's face was looming right above his, her lips hovering over the tiny black spot next to his nose… The spot was just like…

“Shit!” Dean swore, jumpin out of his bed, his things tumbling onto the floor.

“Shit shit shit,” he muttered, shoving the picture in his pocket and hurriedly pulling on his shoes.

The door opened and Bobby came in. He had the weirdest smile plastered to his face. Another time, Dean would have called it creepy and laughed over it.

Today, he ran to Bobby and grabbed him by the arm.

“Bobby! You won’t freaking believe this!” He yanked the photo out of his pocket and shoved it in Bobby’s face, “Look! He has a mole next to his nose. That’s exactly where-”

“Will has it,” Bobby completed, the grin on his face stretching further.

What was happening? Dean felt his breath coming up short and he sat down at the edge of his bed, feeling faint from either excitement or fear that this was all just a dream.

Bobby pulled out an envelope from his back pocket and handed it to Dean. “You might want to take a look at this.”

Dean’s fingers trembled as he reached out and took the envelope. Inside was a medical paper of some sort. He could spot his name on it, but most of it was gibberish to him in the keyed up state of his brain.

“What’s this?” he asked, waving the paper around.

“It’s a DNA test,” Bobby said. “It proves that Will really is your brother.”

“What?”

Bobby sat down next to him. “I asked the doctor to run it right after they operated Will. I mean it was a crazy coincidence that your blood group matched. And that’s one hell of a rare blood group in America. Did it not occur to you that it might mean something more?”

Dean was too shocked to react.

“That, and his eyes are shaped exactly like John’s. You didn’t spend that long with your old man, but for me, it was hard to miss.” Bobby shrugged. “I didn’t want to tell you before I got the results and knew for sure.”

“He’s really Sam. He’s really my Sammy, isn’t he?” Dean whispered wonderingly. The burst of energy that had come to him had all dissipated just as suddenly. He was cold and clammy. “He was right in front me all along.”

“This means one other thing.” Bobby looked at him sideways. “The Kensingtons have no case now. Nobody is taking him away.”

And then Dean was crying in his hands. Years and years of exhaustion, worry and fear just ebbing away. This was unbelievable, too good to be true.

Bobby put an arm around him, and it felt right. Of course Will was Sam. Of course he belonged.

“C’mon, let’s go tell your brother,”

Will had been waiting for them in the lobby of the Child welfare Centre, nervously pacing as if he was scared that Dean wouldn’t show.

When he saw them, the relief spread quickly through his features before morphing into annoyance.“Where were you?” He demanded. “You’re an hour late.”

Dean didn’t retort like he usually would have. He simply couldn’t stop looking at his brother. His brother.

“I have something for you,” he said quietly.

Will scowled. “Don’t think you can get out of keeping me waiting by buying me a cool t-shirt or something!” But the anger was already leaving. “And you’re looking at me weirdly. Why’re you looking at me weirdly?”

“Here,” Dean pulled out the picture. “Take this.”

Will took it, then gave him a puzzled look.

“That’s me,” Dean pointed out. “And this is mom.”

Will’s eyes glazed over and a small smile tugged at his lips. “She loves you. I can tell,” he said. It was quite obvious from the picture. “Is this Sam?”

Dean put his finger on the baby. “This right here,” he took a deep breath. “This right here is you.”

Will looked up startled. “Dean!”

“It really is you. Look, look at that mole. It’s exactly where you have it.”

Will shook his head, eyes wide, like he was scared of believing.

Dean took hold of Will’s hand and thrust the DNA report in it. “Here, take this. It’s a DNA report.” In low voices they quickly explained to Will what Bobby had told him at the motel.

“All that time in the record room, all those nights, we were looking for me?” His voice was strangled.

“Yes, Will. Yes.”

Will was staring hungrily at the picture now, as if he couldn’t get enough of it. His eyes lingered on their mom and then where his tiny palm was wrapped around Dean’s pinkie finger.

He gave Dean one disbelieving watery look and then flung his arms Dean’s waist, burying his face in the front of Dean’s shirt.

Dean gave a watery laugh himself. “So I guess you really are stuck with me now, huh, little brother?”

Will gave a sob.

“Sure you don’t want to run away with those rich ass Kensingtons?” Dean said it mostly as a joke, but the apprehension was still there underneath it all.

Will shook his head. “They wouldn’t have wanted me if I wasn’t some sort of protege or whatever they were calling it. You… you wanted me even when I was nothing… when I wasn’t even your brother…”

He sniffled. “I don’t want any of it. I want you.”

“Yeah, alright now... hush,“ Dean said, rolling his eyes to stop the tears. “Don’t go wiping your snot on my clothes. That’s still not allowed.”

Will snorted amidst the waterworks and Bobby handed him a bottle of water. It took a while to calm him enough to talk without hiccuping.

Bobby had gone to handle the paperwork with the Child services. They were heading to the precinct next to clear the formalities and were taking Will with them.

“Hey,” Dean said softly. Will, who was leaning against him, jerked a bit. All the crying had exhausted him. Dean worried that the emotional and physical strain was messing with him.

“What do you wanna be called?”

“What do you mean?” Will sat up straight in his chair facing Dean.

“I mean you can go by ‘Will’ or ‘Sam,” whatever you want.

Will was quiet.

“You can take time to think about it,” Dean suggested

He shook his head. “Sam. I wanna go by Sam.”

“What? Don’t you want to think about it?”

“No, I don’t,” he said. “I can come out and say this now, but I was a bit jealous of the way you talked about Sam… the longing when you said the name. It meant something to someone.” he hesitated. “Mom… and dad… this meant something to them. ‘Will’ is probably just a lottery name or the matron just loved Shakespeare too much.”

“But it has been your identity for so long,” Dean said gently. “You don’t have to give it up just because you found out your real name.”

“It’s not it,” Will said. “I want to be Sam Winchester.”

Dean caught his breath. Sam Winchester. It felt like such a big name for such a small boy.

“Alright then,” Dean said. “Sammy,’ it is!”

Will’s… Sam’s eyebrow quirked up. “I agreed to ‘Sam,’ not ‘Sammy!”

“Yeah whatever, Sammy,” Dean grinned.

“Sammy’ sounds like a five year olds name!”

“You can whine all you want. I ain’t gonna stop calling you that.”

Sam huffed, then crossed his arms. Dean could see he was trying hard to not laugh. “Fine. But you’re the only one who gets to call me that.”

Dean smirked.

“Boys!” Bobby had appeared at the far end of the lobby. He was already carrying Sam’s bags, gesturing to them to hurry up. “C’mon! Time to go.”

Both of them slid down from the chairs, standing besides each other.

“You ready?” Dean asked.

“Mhmm.”

“Let's go home, Sammy.”

With that they both walked out into the evening sun. Neither of them turned to look back.

SPN- Olive the Birthday Kid

Pairing: Olive Winchester (OC)

Summary: After a rough time hunting, the siblings take the day off and have fun for Olive’s birthday.

Warnings: maybe two lines of being sad, a gun,,,, that’s it??? me??? writing a fic without???? curse words???? wild??

Word Count: 2258

“Olive.” It was a whisper.

I groaned and kept my eyes shut.

“Olive, come on. Wake up.”

I only groaned louder.

“Come on, bug. Time to get up.”

“No.” I mumbled, snuggling further into the motel bed.

Sam peeled the blankets back and lifted me out of the bed. I squirmed around in his arms, and he dumped me back on the bed.

“We’ve gotta go, bug. Come on.”

“What?” I asked, rubbing my eyes.

“It’s your birthday.” Sam smiled softly.

“Oh.” I yawned into my hands and blinked. “Can I go back to bed?”

“No. Come on, get changed. We’ve got plans.”

I sniffed. “Why?”

“Ollie.” Sam cupped my face. “Just get dressed. Your clothes are on the table. We’ll be waiting in the car.” He kissed my forehead.

He left the motel, closing the door behind him. I glanced around and sighed. All of our stuff was gone. They must’ve packed up while I was still sleeping. We were only a mile and a half from the Roadhouse, but I had begged Dean to take us somewhere else. They were nice, but they weren’t my family, and I didn’t want to spend my birthday with them.

I yawned again as I stumbled out of the bed. The boys had left a yellow flannel, a black t-shirt, and a pair of ripped jeans on the table. I yawned again as I quickly changed. I put my glasses on, tucked my boots under my arm, and shuffled out of the room.

“Morning, pumpkin.” Dean grinned from his perch on Baby’s hood.

“Hi.” I mumbled as I hugged him, dropping my weight onto him.

“No shoes?”

I shook my head. He chuckled.

“Alright, come on.” He pushed me off and guided me into the car.

“What about breakfast?”

“We’ll get something on the road.”

“How long are we gonna be on the road?” I asked.

Dean and Sam shared a look. Dean shook his head with a smile on his face, and Sam let out a small snort.

“A couple hours. Just go back to sleep, we’ll wake you up for food.”

I yawned again. “Okay.” I dropped my glasses on the dash and laid down, snuggling into Sam’s lap.

My feet landed in Dean’s lap, and Sam ran his fingers through my hair. I went back to sleep.

“Ohh, can we see the giraffes first? Wait no, the wolves!” I squealed, looking between my two brothers.

Dean ruffled my hair. “We can do whatever you want, kid.”

I barreled straight into him, wrapping my arms around his waist. He kissed the top of my head, and I pulled away, turning to hug Sam.

“I love you guys.”

“We love you too, bug.”

“Alright, come on, let’s go see the wolves!” I grabbed each boy by the hand and tugged them to follow.

We bounced all over the zoo. We went from wolves to giraffes, and back to the snow leopards.

“Should flamingos really be in a zoo though?” Dean asked. “That’s like putting a squirrel in a zoo.”

I giggled. “No it’s not.”

“Nah, they’re not native to North America. They’re from warmer places.”

Dean hummed, chin resting on my head. The flamingos were far from the fences, all in the water and staring right back at us.

There was a group of three of them with their backs to everybody else. One was tall, one was normal sized, and the third was short. I snorted.

“It’s us.” I pointed.

Sam and Dean smiled.

“Happy birthday, Olive.”

“Hi, Bobby!” I smiled as the door swung open.

Jinx ran into the house, zipping past our feet. Bobby smiled.

“Happy birthday, girl.”

I fell into the hug with a soft sigh.

I miss Dad.

I bit back the tears that came out of nowhere, threatening to spill.

Me too.

“Dean, I got the things you needed. It’s all in the kitchen.”

“Awesome. Thanks, Bobby.” Dean grinned.

“Thank you so much, Bobby.” Sam hugged Bobby after I was let go.

I followed Dean into the kitchen and cleared my throat, eyes burning. He turned and instantly noticed, coming to me and grabbing my shoulders.

“Hey, sweetpea. What’s going on?”

“I miss Dad.” I mumbled.

He sighed. “Come here, baby.”

He pulled me into a hug and I buried my face into his chest, struggling not to sob. He rubbed my back and began to hum.

Hey Jude.

I snuggled further into him. Mary sang that to him when he was younger. Dean kissed the top of my head as we swayed back and forth in the small kitchen.

“Hey.” Sam’s voice was soft as it floated in the air. “Everything okay?”

Dean nodded, and a hand came off my back before quickly coming back. Then Dean was pushing me slightly, and Sam was there to hug us both. I wrapped an arm around each boy and leaned my head into Sam as Dean continued to hum.

I still missed Dad, but I felt more at peace.

This is our family.

“I can’t believe you’re already sixteen.” Sam sighed as Dean brought a plate of burgers to the table.

“I know!” I grinned. “I’m practically an adult!”

Bobby snorted. “You’re a baby.”

Dean sat down next to me with a smile. “Just a little baby. Alright, guys, dig in.”

“Did you… make these?” Sam asked, eyeing the burgers.

Dean nodded, and my mouth began to water.

“You cooked for me?”

“Yeah, it’s your birthday.” Dean shrugged as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

“I love when you cook.” I gave him puppy eyes.

He rolled his eyes, but he couldn’t suppress the huge smile on his face. I was the first to pick a burger off the plate, and Sam and Bobby soon followed. Dean tore a burger into little pieces and dropped them onto a spare plate. He put it down and whistled. Jinx came running and licked the plate clean. Dean took a swig from his beer and then grinned as he held it out to me.

I eyed it, then looked up at him. His smile remained. I looked over to Sam, confused. He shrugged.

“Come on, you’re sixteen. It’s like a rite of passage.” Dean shook the bottle.

I hesitated before taking the bottle and raising it to my lips. I cringed. It smelled bitter. Dean grinned wider. Bobby’s face was blank.

“Okay, okay, don’t watch me, jeez!” I whined.

The three men broke into laughter, and I took the chance to take a swig. I couldn’t help how my face wrinkled up and I frowned. I slammed the bottle back down in front of Dean and made a beeline for the kitchen, spitting it out in the sink.

Dean was wheezing from the other room, Bobby was cackling, and Sam was chuckling as he came my way.

“You okay, bug?”

I shook my head. “That’s so gross! It’s so bitter!”

He laughed and patted my back as I continued to spit over the sink. “It’s okay.” He handed me a glass of water. I took it and gargled, then spit it back out.

He rubbed small circles on my back. “Alright. You okay?”

I nodded. “Yeah. Better now.”

“No, no, no!” I whined, curling into Sam’s side. “No gifts!”

“I’ll throw this at you.” Dean threatened, holding the small rectangular box like a football.

“No!” I begged, hiding my face in Sam’s shoulder.

“Alright, alright. Here.” Dean knelt in front of me and held the box out like a soldier holding a sword.

I squinted at him with a smile on my face as I gently took the box. Jinx whined from beside Dean on the floor, as if the tension were killing her.

“Why do you get to go first?” Sam huffed.

“Because I’m the oldest.” Dean stuck his tongue out.

I whacked his head, then hit Sam’s leg. “Hey! No fighting on my birthday.”

“Sorry, Ol.” They both smiled.

“Alright, come on, come on!” Dean grinned. “Open it.”

I smiled and held the box in my hands. The paper had cartoon dinosaurs all over it, and my smile grew wider. Dean nudged me and I tore the paper off in a frenzy, then flipped the box cautiously in my hands. It was regular cardboard, and it wasn’t too heavy, but I could feel whatever was in it shifting. I squinted at Dean as I slowly opened the top. I held my hand out and slid the box toward it. A pair of glasses with round frames and a matte red color fell into my hand. I looked up at Dean with puppy eyes.

“I love them.”

“They’re special. You should be able to see spirits.” He smiled.

“What?” My eyes went wide and my jaw dropped.

“We scorched them in holy oil. It’s supposed to work, but it might not.” His head tilted.

“We?” I repeated as I replaced them and blinked, trying to get used to the difference.

“Bobby helped.” He whispered. “Can you see at all?” He teased.

I grinned. “They’re perfect, De. Thank you.” I threw my arms around his neck and sighed deeply.

He held me and rocked us back and forth. “Happy birthday, baby.”

“Okay, my turn.” Sam tugged me off of Dean with a smile.

“Okay, okay.” I sat back on the couch, crossing my legs and facing him. “Whatcha got, Sams?”

He held out a small box with the same wrapping paper. “This is for you, jelly bean.”

I gently took the paper off the box and Dean scoffed. I giggled. “This box seems delicate!” I defended myself.

He rolled his eyes. “Yeah, yeah, whatever.” The smile on his face was huge.

I tossed the paper Dean’s way, and it landed on the floor in front of the couch. I pulled the lid off the box to see a silver ring. It was formed like an olive branch. I felt my throat begin to close up as I looked at Sam with the same puppy eyes I had given Dean.

“Sammy…”

“Look at the inside of it.” He grinned.

I gently pulled the ring from the cushion and flipped it around.

Bug was engraved in his, surprisingly neat, handwriting. I slid the ring onto my pointer finger and threw myself at Sam. He caught me in a hug, laughing.

“Thanks, Sams.” I whispered, arms tight around his neck.

“Anything for you, baby girl.”

“Hey, Ol. Bobby’s got something for you.” Dean shook my knee.

I pulled away from Sam and frowned at Bobby. “You didn’t have to get me anything. You’re letting us use your house.”

“Don’t be an idjit, girl. Take the present.” He held a shoe box out toward me.

I took it with a smile and pulled the lid off. I let out a cackle and Sam stared at me. Dean leaned forward to see what was in the box and sighed.

A Beretta 92FS. It was black, but the pistol grip was white with pastel flowers all over it. I placed the box down carefully and got to my feet, running for Bobby.

“It’s lovely. Thank you so much.” I hugged him.

“It was your daddy’s idea.” He whispered. “He got it custom ordered when you started hunting. He was gonna give it to you today.”

I stepped back, stunned. The idea of the gun now made me feel sick. Then Dean was behind me and pulling me into his chest with a soft humming. I snuggled into him for a second, then pulled away, recomposed. Bobby was gone now.

“I got you two something too.”

Dean turned to deadpan at Sam. “She learned this from you.”

Sam grinned and I smiled. “It’s something for the three of us then. It’s like… a three-” I motioned between the three of us. “Thing.”

“Yeah, sure.”

“Alright, hold on. It’s in the kitchen.”

I skipped my way to the kitchen and pulled the brown paper bag from my own duffel. I slowly pranced back to my brothers and smiled. I pulled the long box out first and set it down on the couch, between the two of them. I grabbed the smallest box and held it out to Sam with a smile.

“This one’s yours.”

I pulled the last box from the bag and held it under my arm. I folded the bag back up and tossed it in Dean’s lap as I gave him the box.

“That’s for you.”

Sam had opened it and was staring. His was a silver ring. I had found a place that made jewelry with whatever pattern you wanted. It was a big circle, with a medium one a bit off to the right and lower, and a tiny circle linking the two, at the bottom. Dean clasped his bracelet on with a smile. Jinx jumped onto the couch and made herself comfortable in Sam’s lap.

“It’s us.” I explained as Sam slid the ring onto his own pointer finger. “The big one’s Dean, you’re the middle one, and I’m the tiny one.”

“I love it. You make the design yourself?”

“Yeah.” I pulled the necklace from the long box and turned to Dean. “Can you help me?”

“Yeah, turn around.” He pushed my hair out of the way and looped the chain over my neck, clasping it shut in the back. “There ya go.”

“That way we’ve always got each other.” I smiled as I leaned back into the couch.

They both smiled at me, and I let out a breath.

This is our family.
