how come you’re so crazy about kikuno? asking as someone who only knows her from arena

honestly anon a good 50% of it is “i literally don’t know”. maybe it’s the fact that she’s so underrated that kind of stokes my obsession a little? the other half of it is well. not even so much just her roles in each story she’s involved in but just general stuff about her as a character beyond that. i’ll give my general reasonings

(beneath a cut because wow i started rambling really hard)

im a sucker for the general trope of an utterly devoted character that serves under another, potentially to the point of viewing themselves as a tool. combine that with the general aesthetic of a battle maid and im pretty much sold.

further combine that with a devotion so sincere that it corrupts, and you have me acting up. kikuno being so hellbent on setting mitsuru free of her family’s burdens that she is willing to sacrifice the entirety of sees for it, that she goes as far as drugging her so she might sleep through it all, was just insanely interesting to me. kikuno clearly despises takedera, thinks lowly of him, but joins forces with him for the good of providing peace to the person dearest to her, even at the risk of being hated by her.

she also technically falls under that other trope i like where she has a history of being a lab experiment. which i sorely wish they would’ve done more with! the horrifying implications of a child that was sold to ergo research!! a survivor of that dark hour experimentation that’s effect is typically known only through strega (and eventually sho by extension). takedera threatening her with returning to those experiments is a genuine hair raising moment to me. she’s the type of character you imagine would have a persona, but she never seems to awaken to one, only having the potential to interact with the dark hour.

shes also outright a cool addition to exploring more of mitsuru’s backstory and home life. the drama cd in general gives insight to mitsuru as a child and i came away feeling even more fondness for a character i already love intensely. (seriously, kikuno describing their first meeting and how much of a little shit mitsuru was about trying to make friends with a withdrawn and bitter kikuno…so sweet)

i just really get the sense that the writers have a fondness for her. she almost feels like someone’s oc. she’s practically a main character in the drama cd she originates from, she briefly cameos in a later drama cd promoting the movies (and has a brief appearance in the movies!!!!), then goes from loose mention in the first arena game to a fully visually implemented character in ultimax with portraits and voicework, and later she’s portrayed in the stageplay based on ultimax. surely you could chalk a ton of this up to needing a plot-furthering character and kikuno as a pre-existing concept would more often than not fit the bill but i like to imagine she’s just a Well Loved side character. i sincerely hope that love persists into reload. im DYING to see her again, even if it’s just a brief moment.

SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH HER. in the second scene shes in she tells the limo driver escorting her and mitsuru to the manor to run over a crowd. shes like an angry attack dog for the first half of new moon that mitsuru needs to tell to relax. she fucking pretends to break a ring that normal people use to access the dark hour, acts like she loses all of her memories in the past 6 years to takedera AND TO MITSURU BEFORE BEING LIKE OH LOL IM FINE BTW. IVE ALWAYS HAD ACCESS TO THE DARK HOUR I JUST PRETENDED TO USE THE RING AND NEVER TOLD YOU ABOUT IT. she blows up the iwatodai dorm kitchen because she impulsively came over to help bake something as an apology to mitsuru, and doesn’t tell anyone that she’s never cooked before until after there is a fire. when mitsuru requests a beach-related activity for the senpai squad to partake in she sends an entire cruise ship to them. in arena she intentionally leaves the top open on the artificial dark hour-inducing box so that the police investigators handling the materials snoop into it, trigger it, and get attacked. she stays On Site in a damaged helicopter during ultimax so she can shoot down and blow up shadows and smiles and winks while she does it like she’s having the time of her life.

its not anything New i guess but the way she carries herself does kill me. woman who behaves so put together but is so not. she wants to commit unspeakable violence. shes smug and cunning. also she can be incredibly fucking stupid and i chalk that up to having grown up somewhat sheltered in the same manner as mitsuru. the perfect woman i think

gay ass homosexual woman. if a relationship in p3 is paralleled with junpei and chidori it’s so over that’s them telling you something gay is happening. you cannot refer to somebody as “the one destined for you” and be not gay about it. it does not help that she then compares herself to yukari who is also ridiculously gay with mitsuru. it’s also like why are you as a woman revolving your life’s work around providing comfort and peace to another woman. she’s ridiculous get me out of here.

her arena design is like catnip for me. what is she so dykey for!? her fucking chest harness....

another thing is like just generally the Potential she holds as a character. i would've liked to see her directly encounter more members of sees beyond her first appearance. i think her and yukari's dynamic in particular is really funny just based on the last bit of dialogue between them in nm/fm. something about the kinda one-sided like. kinship kikuno appears to have with her and like i wanted to see how yukari would further deal with her and her antics but they dont really interact on character developing-based terms in ultimax....i like to think about them anyways. ive also manifested the concept of strega being loosely aware of her from their time as child experiments under the kirijo group, particularly ive been wanting to try writing or drawing something grounded in the dynamic between her and chidori consisting of how differently the two ended up and how that might create further tension than what we got in their brief canon interaction...im just Rambling at this point but its genuinely a big part of her appeal to me.

well while im here. i feel like there might be this impression that i ship kikuno with either yukari or mitsuru but like generally speaking i find it hard to put into words what the deal is. i dont really consider either of them in a romantic relationship with her and yet there is some kind of psuedo-polycule shit going on there in my brain. i dont pair them but theyre doing gay stuff n proximity to each other. do you get it. its like two married women and the maid that they do yuri shit with

addendum: PLEASE, one p3 fan to another, do yourself a favor and either listen along to or read the scripts for the drama cds she appears in. Kæmpe Stør’s Life Part 3:

First, we have a new addition to our "growing" family! Meet Sunday! She was brought in as a foster baby at the age of 2, and by the age of 3 she was fully adopted into the family.

Sunday is a Dhampir, meaning her mother is human and her dad is a vampire. She was taken into CPS and with no other family was brought in by Rudy and Joseph.

Stor LOVES his little sister! He calls her "Sunny" and she calls him "Ka-pe" because she can't say “Kæmpe.” (Stor's full name is Kæmpe Stør insertlastnamehere. His family calls him "Kæmpe" while his friends usually call him Stør.)

At first, Sunny was a little nervous meeting Stor, not because she is afraid of giants, but because she is scared of new people.

Joseph: Are you ready to meet your big brother, Sunday?

Sunday: O-tay…

Rudy: You remember we told you he’s really tall?

Sunday: Yeah…

Joseph: you have nothing to be afraid of with Kæmpe, he’ll be the best brother in the world. Your big brother will always be there to protect and look after you. But you have to look after him too, that’s what siblings do, protect eachother. Alright, Sunday?

Sunday: O-tay.

Once she met Stør, she refused to leave his side for DAYS.

Sunday feels so comfortable around Stør she will often sneak into his room and curl up on his pillow next to her big brother.

At 9 years old, Stør has outgrown the school and his parents house. He can't enter buildings as easily as he used to, if at all. Now he takes his classes outside. He sits outside the open window to the classroom and does his work. This is difficult when his classes were on the second floor. (When sitting, Stør is only around 9ft tall.) The School had to move his entire class down a floor so he could participate.

Stør does often get made fun of by his peers for being different, but he has Yilan. Strega has entered elementary school by now. They both stick up for their friend.

The teachers love Stør, he's a real sweat heart. He learns quickly and turns in his work on time. He does all his assignments online because there isn't any paper big enough for him.

um, hi! I just finished reading your fic "Deus Ex Machina" and I really really liked it! I feel like the characterization was spot-on and you did a really good job introducing your oc villains to the story without them feeling out of place in the world of JJBA. Even though Enrico was only around for like two chapters you managed to make him interesting and threatening for the short time he appeared, which I think is the mark of a really great writer if they can make even one-off characters interesting. I'm really interested in finding out what the rest of the oc villains will do in the story but I do have one question about them if it's not to spoilery - is this particular group of villains like the "old guard" of Passione? like in their 50s or older? cause if they are then that's a really good dichotomy between Giorno's team and theirs in that they're also opposed philosophically to each other in terms of wanting things to change (younger) versus wanting things to stay the same (older). idk, i might be reading too much into this but if you intended that then that's really cool!

As for the Gambling Squad, they've got a mixed make up. Three of the members *are* closer to the Bucci Squad's ages (Enrico mentally refers to them as "the kids"). They're all adults, but young adults, which makes them kids by comparison.

The other four members are older. Enrico is (was) the oldest at 66, and Cattivo is second in line at 57.

Without spoiling too much, I can list the ages as follows:

Cattivo Strega- 56

Alcina Bugiardo- 32

Belladonna Caro- 33

???- 22

???- 20 (this is a guess, they refuse to give an actual number)

The Gambling Squad was, in many ways, meant to be something of a foil to the Bucci Squad. The Bucci Gang are protectors, bodyguards, and the oldest among them is 21. They're very much just a bunch of kids pretending to know what they're doing, loyal mostly out of fear and in these positions because they don't feel they have another choice, one way or the other.

The Gambling Squad, however, is a bit different. Sure, some of them are there because they felt they had nowhere else to go, but most of them *chose* this, one way or another. Loyalty comes from respect, from convenience, from love, from many places, but none really from fear.

If you're interested, I would be *happy* to go more into any of the characters (without spoiling too much hopefully, lol) and detail a little more about their motivations, their personalities, etc. I've gotten kind of attached to my cannon fodder lmao, and would love to talk about them.

-Stands 5’1” with a delicate and very thin (almost sickly) body type, long white hair and porcelain skin graced with freckles. She has blue-grey eyes that show a profound sadness. Scars on arms, legs, and stomach from self-harm. Her clothing aesthetic is a mix of fairy grunge, whimsigothic, and strega fashion. Often wears silver, fantasy themed jewelry with crystals and charms, nature themed jewelry such a terrarium pendants and charms or floral jewelry, and jewelry made from leather. Wears armwarmers, legwarmers, fingerless gloves, scarves, hip, waist, and hair chains, patterned mesh or fishnet tights. and patterned socks. Sometimes styles her hair in fantasy-inspired braids. Wears lots of hair jewelry/accessories. Literally jingles with every movement because of all her jewelry. Always wears at least 3 layers of clothing due to the fact she's always cold, no matter the weather. Also likes a lot of glow-in-the-dark, UV-reactive, and thermal-reactive accessories.

-Quiet and soft-spoken. She puts on a happy face, but in reality, she’s sad and angry, mostly because she sees so many terrible and unjust things happening in the world. She also struggles with her self-esteem and self-worth. Her sadness definitely shows in her eyes, but either no one’s noticed, no one cares, or no one really knows what to say or do about it. She often takes her anger out on herself through various methods of self-harm and other self-destructive behavior, such as substance abuse (mainly pills and alcohol), sleep and food deprivation, smoking cigarettes, and putting herself in dangerous situations. She hides these behaviors almost too well. She’s an overall nice person, maybe too nice at times. She self-isolates a lot, keeping an emotional distance from people. She spends her time reading, playing guitar, tambourine, violin, and piano/keyboard, singing, various forms of art, and writing her own songs as well as writing fiction. She also enjoys experimenting with vocal percussion and using household objects as instruments in her music (glass bottles and jars are one of her favorites to experiment with). Sometimes when she gets overwhelmed, her brain really goes haywire. She’ll have trouble remembering certain words as well as processing speech and text. She also will forget what she’s doing in the middle of a task, or if she dares to try and drive in this mental state, she may forget where she’s going. It really frustrates her, and she often starts hitting herself in the head or pulling at her hair.

-Grew up upper-middle class with a single mother who is barely ever home and hardly acknowledges her existence. Her mother treats her like an inconvenience and will basically bribe her to leave her alone. This is how she’s obtained books, art supplies, and her guitar, violin, tambourine, piano lessons, as well as many other things. It’s obvious her mother doesn’t want to be a mother. Alice has been told that her father left before she was born, but the truth is her mother is the one who left and her father has no clue she exists. Alice has attempted suicide by overdose in the past, but she survived despite never being taken to a hospital. She’s never told anyone about her suicide attempt. She has had one boyfriend who sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions and the only reason she’s no longer with him is because she and her mom moved to a different town after inheriting her grandmother’s house, and she used this as an excuse to break up with him.

-She’s pretty experimental when it comes to her creative endeavors. She doesn’t really know what to call her style of music, but she sings grotesque and poetic lyrics containing themes of isolation, depression, sexual assault, and self-harm, as well as taking some inspiration from horror movies, gothic literature, Arthurian legend, and the occult sung with a light, breathy voice with occasional slight vibrato and high pitched, raspy screams, shrieks, and wails, making her sound like a tormented banshee. This is accompanied by dark, doomy, ambient, haunting instrumentals on her guitar, violin, or keyboard, vocal percussion, and, as mentioned before, non-instruments used as instruments. She often adds reverb and delay effects to her music. Her screams over the softer music often create a very chilling effect. She records her music with the limited resources she has access to, such as her laptop and earphones with a built-in microphone. Her musical influences consist of KatieJane Garside, Nicole Dollanganger, Tori Amos, Dani Filth, Kathrine “Sylvaine” Shepard, Stéphane “Niege" Paut, Enya, Emilie Autumn, Nicole Ansperger, Pete Johansen, Anthony Gonzalez, Rachel “Banshee” Knight, Billy Corgan, and Anna-Varney Cantodea. Her visual art is often gory and disturbing, or at least tackles disturbing themes, yet her style is very ethereal. She paints and draws and also makes sculptures out of objects she finds while out and about, such as animal remains (which she manages to keep preserved in a portable freezer she obtained off of Craigslist for free), sticks, rocks, or just cool stuff she finds either out in nature or even just on the side of the road. She doesn’t like to share her music, art, or writing with anyone because she feels that these are some of the few things she has to herself that are completely hers and hers alone, and she wants to keep it that way for the time being. Thank goodness for her walk-in closet and the space underneath her bed. She mostly reads gothic literature, fantasy, and books that are considered “weird” by her peers due to questionable or dark subject matter. She has 2 pet rats, a white one named Guinevere and a blue one named Ophelia. She also has an Antilles pinktoe tarantula named Vivica. She’s always ice-cold to the touch, no matter what the temperature is outside or what she’s wearing. Drives a white 1995 Chevy Lumina with a burgundy interior. Her lips are often chapped, and she picks at the dead skin until she bleeds.
