★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀CURSE OF CAPULET is the fictional debut mini—album by the idol band BELLADONNA released on February 14, 2024. After their win on Superband, Belladonna would take five months to write and produce their first album with the help of Plastic Flowers SALEM and OLIVER and former Lush member DALLAS LINWOOD. Along with the songs written by the members, Salem had gifted them an old draft, RENEWAL, which was supposed to appear on Wind and Rain in 2019 but was replaced with another song. The album takes on themes of love, desperation, mortality, and the inevitability of fate with their concept changing from girlhood to medieval and renaissance imagery, often seeing the girls depicted as saints. The album had one title track, BURN ALIVE, but RENEWAL was also promoted as a b-side.

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀Curse of Capulet comes from the play Romeo and Juliet by Williams Shakespeare as it's themes closely resemble the overall meaning of their debut album. It is a reference to Mercutio's death in Act III, scene I in which he curses both the Capulets and Montagues with "a plague o' both your houses!", blaming both of them for his death. He wants Romeo to know that he blames the feuding families for his fate and remind Romeo that his love for Juliet was the reason for his death to Tybalt, Juliet's short tempered cousin. The album was released with TWO versions: ROMEO and JULIET, with the back cover featuring quotes from both characters alongside the tracklist.

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀TRACKLIST.

‘ # 001.⠀ ⠀OLIM ──── written by kwak yulli, produced by oliver song, and performed by belladonna. olim is an introduction track to belladonna's debut track and mimics catholic hymns, with the word olim itself representing the beginning of a fairytale. the translation goes as: "once, long ago God arrived in this age of brightness / He will come again" and is repeated twice. all members of belladonna referred to this as the hardest recording session that they've ever had. the idea was brought up by oliver as a joke, but yulli saw it as the perfect time to flex her old latin skills from attending catholic skills. it was almost cut completely, but the girls were able to save it at the last minute.

‘ # 002.⠀ ⠀TITLE TRACK: BURN ALIVE ──── written and produced by bae haena, performed by kwak yulli. in their debut single, belladonna comes out swinging as they depict themes of addiction, self-destruction, and the sacrifices made for love. the main imagery of the song is a toxic relationship where both parties are consumed by their vices and are unable to break the cycle of destructive patterns. because of this relationship, they are no longer who they aspired to be and desire to capitalize on their own pain, a reflection on modern society.

‘ # 003.⠀ ⠀THEATRE ──── written by ko sarang, produced by dallas linwood, performed by kwak yulli. theatre explores the desire for love and acceptance through the lens of a theatrical performance. it delves into the idea of yearning for a love that feels like it belongings in a grand gesture from a movie or performance. the narrator is willing to go through the motions by pretending and faking emotions just to fulfill this dream of being loved. they yearn to be loved and adored as a film star, swept up in a fantasy where all their desires are achieved.

‘ # 004.⠀ ⠀FORTUNATE ISLES ──── written by kim eulsun and kim wonhui, produced by dallas linwood, and performed by kwak yulli. this song is often the one that gets the most criticism as professionals and netizens alike believe it doesn't fit the sound of the album. however, the girls are always ready to double down on how much they love the song. taking it's name from the greek island where all their greatest heroes lived, fortunate isles conveys the story of a letter being delivered to an ex lover who isn't quiet over their relationship yet, asking to be reborn in spring so they can live together forever.

‘ # 005.⠀ ⠀RENEWAL ──── written and produced by salem kueakulsri, performed by kwak yulli. renewal was a gift to the members of belladonna from plastic flowers leader, salem kuekulsri. in an instagram live, she confirmed that it had intended to be a plastic flowers song, but it was cut and eventually left in her vault of music. she said that she gave it to belladonna to remind them that they always hold the power in their lives and as a way to keep them strong. it explores themes of personal growth and resilience in the face of adversity, wanting to start anew and find solace in oneself after experiencing setbacks and challenges. by "growing a new plant in your head", the narrator can reach a new sense of personal transformation and optimism, leaving anyone that doubted them behind.

‘ # 006.⠀ ⠀LOVERS ──── written by bae haena, produced by oliver song, performed by kwak yulli. haena is quickly establishing herself as the queen of heartbreaking ballads in the group and fans absolutely love it. in this slower track, yulli really shines vocally as she laments on a relationship that failed, but only just realizing how good she had it. with only two verses and a chorus, their message comes across very well as they repeat "i wish you were with me" and "me as yours, you as mine".

‘ # 007.⠀ ⠀PAGAN POETRY ──── written by kwak yulli, produced by oliver song and dallas linwood, performed by kwak yulli. this song explores the spiritual connection between two people as the singer s pedalling through the dark currents and finding an accurate copy of another's pleasure inside of her. this connection is described as a secret code carved into black lilies, something deeply romantic and spiritual. the concept of paganism is reflected in the individual's connection to the divine as deeply personal and the beauty and spiirtualiy is celebrated.

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀STYLING.

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀ERA SUMMARY.

‘ # 000.⠀ ⠀MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS: 200,000 sales in the first week and a nomination on every major south korea music show. fans were unable to get them a win, but they would only place behind the actual winner by a few points, making it possible for the next era.

‘ # 000.⠀ ⠀belladonna's fandom name, DOVES, would be announced by the girls in a video on how to cheer for burn alive. it was chosen because doves are often seen as a symbol of peace, freedom, or love—all things their fans provided for belladonna.

‘ # 000.⠀ ⠀the budget was the talk of the town. everyone was supervised to see how lavish and beautiful their concept photos, music videos, and performance outfits were. it drove poppies mad and they demanded for equal treatment for the two.

‘ # 000.⠀ ⠀ fan wars started between DOVES and POPPIES as soon as it was confirmed salem and oliver were working on the album. many accused belladonna of not being able to write or produce their own music, which is objectively not true as seen by their superband run, and were just overall nasty towards the girls.

‘ # 000.⠀ ⠀ the OLIVER and YULLI DATING RUMORS. . . someone had posted a video of them looking a bit too close after plastic flowers' performance at cheeky's and twitter just ran with it. superbloom had to issue a statement saying they were just friends and had a close "senior—junior artist" relationship.

‘ # 000.⠀ ⠀ enough about plastic flowers! DALLAS LINWOOD was praised for his work on the album! after announcing his retirement from performing, most were excited to see him working on music again and he did not disappoint on these arrangements.

‘ # 000.⠀ ⠀ belladonna performed and WON their first time on immortal songs: singing the legends. they were on the PATTI KIM episode and sang MOTHER'S HEART IN SEOUL! it was praised by the older generation of domestic netizens and the girls will definitely be returning.

‘ # 000.⠀ ⠀all of the girls were supposed to have their natural hair colors for this promotional period, but haena had over plans. without telling superbloom, she bleached her own hair and it surprisingly came out well! when the company found out, she was forced to tone it and it remained a white color.

‘ # 000.⠀ ⠀many pre-debut fans were disappointed by their concept shift. though it was hinted at in the later rounds of superband, many wanted them to keep their "girl—rock" sound because they could relate to what they were singing about. there's a clear divide between these stans and those that enjoyed the curse of capulet.

‘ # 000.⠀ ⠀they were given a reality show called THE BELLA'S, which was filled with fun challenges and the girls getting to know each other! it's a loved series by fans and is still being uploaded even after promotions ended. they had a whole episode on haena's hair, which was an instant classic.

‘ # 000.⠀ ⠀despite knowing each other for less than a year, BELLADONNA seemed very close. they have amazing chemistry together and even showed how well they knew each other on BLOOM WITH US, with YULLI being the overall winner because she "loves her members".

★ ⠀⠀ ! ⠀⠀ Since earning her first real paycheck, SALEM has invested heavily into her collection of bass guitars. These are only the four that she uses most often and there are many more in their studio space in Superbloom's headquarters. Despite having so many, she knows them like the back of her hand and can easily deicide which one needs to be used while recording or even playing live. The one with the STICKERS is her prized possession, having been with her since the beginning of THE BIG GLOOM.

★ ⠀⠀ ! ⠀⠀ Compared to the rest of the members, JUNYEONG has only became interested in drum kits recently. He never really cared about drums before they started making it big but that's what you get for spending years resenting your position in the band! He shifts between these two main kits and has been looking into some other additions for them recently. In the middle, there is the Plastic Flowers logo as well!

★ ⠀⠀ ! ⠀⠀ SERIN loves her aesthetic guitars, especially that third white one. She is easily the most picky member of her instruments and only owns a few of each style. Compared to Salem, she also struggles with choosing the perfect choice and works very closely with her producers to ensure the best sound comes out. She has gotten better over the years but she has no real interest in collecting them either. It's about the look more than anything for her.

★ ⠀⠀ ! ⠀⠀ DEURIM switches between a grand piano, organ, and keyboard easily. She had actually learned how to play the organ from OLIVER when she joined as it was needed for songs like THE CHAIN and PSYCHO. However, she plays the keyboard most often as its the easiest to bring around to music shows and on tour, forcing them to sacrifice some of their music for functionality.

★ ⠀⠀ ! ⠀⠀ Resident musical prodigy, OLIVER owns a lot of different instruments, which have been used over the years on their albums and live performances. Most recently, he bought an accordion for his 2024 New Years Resolution of learning how to play and fills in any musical gaps for the band. Most of the times, OLIVER just plays the rhythmic guitar and violin, with the rest being saved for special occasion.

𓇼 ° ࣪. 𓂃 ̖́- TW ... MENTIONS OF PARENT DEATH, CHILD EXPLOITATION, GROOMING, AND SIBLING DEATH.

𓇼 ° ࣪. 𓂃 ̖́- DEEPDIVE was established in 2014 under the infamous shit-storm of a company STORMEDIA as their first idol group with five members: Eunhye, Jaewoo, Han, Sol, and Jisung. After a year and a half of zero growth, line-up changes, and releases no one listened to twice, the group was bought by ANGELICO Entertainment in 2016 for a mere $15,000.

One month after being bought by Angelico, DeepDive went through a rebranding, turning from a five member line up to a seven member lineup. The new line up of DeepDive was found through Angelico's first survival show "THE NEW WAVE" which had brutal nine episode run through out the beginning of 2016. Only two of the original DeepDive members made it into the new final lineup. The new lineup debuted in late 2016 with the single "ENERGETIC" and a lineup consisting of: Han, Jisung, Blue, Noah, Woojin, Kiwoo, and Finn.

Even after this rebrand, DeepDive struggled to get their footing in the industry. Despite their music being well liked and concepts being praised, they would often go on long unannounced hiatuses and often suffered from mismanagement under Angelico. The group went through another lineup change in 2019 where Woojin was removed from the group, previously believed to have left the group on his own accord, and replaced with former Wanna One member, Jacob Lee. Despite this addition, the group continued to be mismanaged and mistreated by the company, stagnating their growth exponentially.

On their last leg, the group released their second full album SIREN'S SONG in 2020, blowing the group up overnight and saving their career. It's been revealed the album was originally a goodbye album as they were told if the album didn't do well, they would be dropped by Angelico. DeepDive became an overnight sensation, quickly climbing the ranks of the most well-known and respected boy groups in the 3rd and 4th generations.

In 2022, DeepDive had their contract acquired once again this time by Flowerbank Entertainment. Han, the eldest and original member of DeepDive, decided to not sign with Flowerbank and respectfully graduated from the group and the idol industry as a whole. His spot was filled by Woojin who was already signed as a model to Flowerbank Entertainment. The current line up of DeepDive consists of: Jisung, Jacob, Noah, Blue, Woojin, Kiwoo, and Finn. They are the most successful male act under Flowerbank Entertainment.

𓇼 ° ࣪. 𓂃 ̖́- THE DEEPDIVE PROFILES !

𓇼 ° ࣪. 𓂃 ̖́- Hwang Jisung was born to a single mother in 1998 in Seoul, South Korea. His father, who only appeared in his life through monthly child support checks, was a high-profile politician who consistently tried to erase him and his mother from his life. Jisung's childhood though riddled with financial struggles was a happy one. His mother worked tirelessly to make sure he had everything he needed, supporting every dream he had even if some were outlandish.

Jisung was scouted by Stormedia in 2012 at a dance class he attended with a friend to be one of their first trainees. He accepted the offer and began training at just fourteen years old. He debuted at 16 in 2014 as the main vocalist of the group. Though DeepDive was no where near successful, Jisung was often talked about online for his visuals, becoming the most popular member, a title he's continued to keep through out the group's life.

While on The New Wave, Jisung was often seen as the voice of reason and big brother figure despite only being 18. Many of the viewers adored his empathy for his fellow contestants and his ability to capture everyone's attention while on stage. Despite the many attempts to evil edit him, Jisung finished the show in second place.

Jisung is currently the leader and main vocalist of DeepDive. Jisung has taken up acting and modeling throughout the years, becoming a household name in Korea due to his popularity and success in any endeavor he chooses to pursue.

Jacob's father left his mother when he was four years old, obtaining full custody of him and cutting off any contact he had to his biological mother. After this, Jacob's childhood was a rocky one, often acting out towards his siblings and new stepmom. While his stepmom tried to be gentle with him, she would grow frustrated with his outbursts and lock Jacob in his room for hours for a moment of peace. Because of this, Jacob grew into a loner who opted to be by himself instead of making friends.

Jacob left home in 2015 to begin training in Korea after auditioning for ANGELICO Entertainment. Soon after he began training, he was put on the survival show PRODUCE 101. While on produce, he grew in popularity due to his vocals, work ethic, and dry humor many seeing him as endearing and relatable. His popularity was also heightened by his sister, Chloe, being the runner-up of the previous season. Jacob finished his season of produce in fourth place, debuting in the final group Wanna One.

Jacob's run in Wanna One was a weird one. While popular, many fans believed he didn't fit into the group as he would often be seen off to the side and barely interacting with the members. Jacob has now come out to say that he doesn't remember his years in Wanna One as he would suffer from disassociation episodes and that it was one of the hardest times of his life.

Once his run in Wanna One was over, he was placed into DeepDive shortly after. The short amount of time between Wanna One's disbandment and Jacob being added to a new group upset his fans for various reasons. Some said he would work better as a soloist, some complained he was just waiting to leave Wanna One in the past, and others bringing up how DeepDive would only harm Jacob's growing career. Jacob joined the group as their main vocalist and lead dancer.

In recent times, Jacob has become an advocate for mental health, opening up about how often he struggled with his own. He's also become one of DeepDive's main song writer often writing songs for his group and many others throughout the industry.

Noah's childhood was spent on the poverty line as his mother struggled to support both of them. His father later revealed to be the CEO of Angelioc Son Jinhwa, sent the pair only $500 a month in child support. By the time Noah was 12, under the advice of his mother, he had auditioned for Angelico Entertainment and made it in. Before this, Noah had very little interest in K-pop or music in general. In reality, this was a plan made by both Jinhwa and his mother to get Noah the basic necessities she couldn't provide for him.

Finding him naturally gifted at singing and dancing, Jinhwa took Noah into his company. He didn't reveal to Noah that he was his father until the boy was sixteen which happened to be the same time Noah would go onto compete on The New Wave. Noah was highly favored on the show, often getting praised by the mentors and given a favorable edit. He was liked by viewers for his humor and dedication to becoming an idol as well as his friendship with other trainee, Finn Lee. Noah would finish The New Wave in 5th place.

Debuting so young seemed to result in more problems than solutions for Noah, being seen as the weaker and more vulnerable member of the group he was often taken advantage of by the older people around him. Notably, he was groomed and abused by their now former manager whom he would start "dating" at just sixteen whilst she was in her 30's. This relationship would alter Noah's life permanently.

Despite being a victim to those around him, Noah's musical ability only grew stronger, especially his producing skills. Alongside Finn, Noah would go on to produce 85% of the group's discography as well as other popular songs of other artists. He has over 300 producing and composing credits to his name.

Once he was too old to be the cute kid in the cereal commercials, she began making him audition for K-pop companies in the hope of him becoming a world-famous idol.

Woobin would begin training at just 13 and absolutely hated it. He was only there because his mother made him and he made it everyone else's problem. Woobin would often bully the other trainees around him, needing to drag someone down in order to feel big. In 2016, he would take on the stage name "Blue" and compete on The New Wave. On The New Wave, Blue would be highly favored and given a favorable edit. Many suspect this is because Blue's father's company is a major shareholder of Angelico. Either way, he ended up ranking 3rd in the finale.

Blue would only grow nastier with age. Many fans wondering why he hasn't left the group or been kicked out due to the endless sea of bullying accusations made his way. Blue's delusional fans keep him afloat, threatening anyone who tries to take him down and silencing anyone who speaks against him.

Blue is the most commercially successful soloist in DeepDive though he says he doesn't like being a soloist and rarely promotes as one.

Being the baby and only boy of the family, Woojin was highly doted on and adored while growing up. Woojin's childhood was unconventional by having such a full household but he says he never cried long as a child because there was always someone there to cheer him up.

Woojin began training after originally being scouted to be a model. Woojin had no interest in singing or dancing but decided to give it a try, thinking it would be something fun and new for him. He had the shortest training time of all the contestants on The New Wave only training 9 months before appearing on the show. Due to his lack of experience, Woojin often got singled out and picked on for his weaker skills. Despite this, Woojin managed to rank fourth place.

Through out his time in DeepDive, Woojin would be picked on by so called fans and deemed the "dozen" of the group. He was seen as just a pretty face which is how he got in the group in the first place. Behind the scenes were even worse for him as he was being groomed by their manager alongside Noah. Unlike Noah, Woojin would go onto report their manager for misconduct but the report fell on deaf ears. He's said that a week after he filed the report, he was removed from DeepDive and his contract with Angelico was terminated.

Devastated by his career ending so quickly, Woojin would disappear form the public eye for a year to reflect and heal from all he went through. A year later, he would sign under Flowerbank Entertainment as a model and influencer. He quickly became a popular model and streamer, telling all the details of what happened to him while he was in DeepDive and other stories of his life, gaining him a strong and dedicated fanbase.

Han, an original member of DeepDive, requested that Woojin fill his spot so the group stays somewhat close to the original lineup. At first, Woojin wasn't sure if he wanted to rejoin the group, fearing idol life would be unkind to him again but after much conversation with the other members Woojin agreed to rejoin the group. Woojin would rejoin the group in 2022 nearly three years after being removed.

Kiwoo would throw fits when having to be separated to go to school while Namjoo would cry all day until she would see Kiwoo again.

Kiwoo only began training because his sister did. He's been said to have a naturally angelic voice and with training, he became one of the strongest Angelico trainees. Namjoo would be cut from the Angelico training program for falling behind but would go to train elsewhere telling her brother to stay with Angelico to not stunt him. Kiwoo would compete on The New Wave, becoming an instant favorite among kfans for his shyness and impressive vocals. He would end up ranking 6th in the finale.

After debuting in DeepDive, Kiwoo would go onto become a well known OST singer. At one point, Kiwoo's OSTs would be the only thing keeping DeepDive afloat. In 2019, Kiwoo would go on an extensive hiatus to deal with the sudden loss of his sister. Fans have said that there was a clear shift in Kiwoo after the loss of his sister. He became quieter and the light in his eyes dimmed.

Nowadays, Kiwoo is an integral member of DeepDive as he often records the group's demos as well as helps write the group's songs. Kiwoo often sits at the top of the OST charts, being one of the most sought-after artists for OSTs.

He's the second youngest child in the family and the only boy, having two older sisters and one younger sister. Both of his parents worked stable office jobs. His father was an accountant while his mother worked in cyber security.

Finn’s love for music was introduced to him through his sister’s love for dance. He would play songs for her on his toy keyboard and she would make dances to them. There are dozens of home videos of the two putting on “shows” for their family. Aubrie, Finn’s older sister, was the one to convince Finn to audition with her for ANGELICO Entertainment. She had more of an interest in KPOP and being an idol than her brother did, but didn’t want to audition alone. The pair passed the auditions and became official ANGELICO trainees, being only thirteen and twelve at the time.

Finn only trained for a year before appearing on The New Wave. He was the youngest on the show at just 14 but quickly became a fan favorite. There was much debate over Finn's popularity due to his age but he was very beloved by international and domestic fans alike. Finn, described as a musical genius, would go on to rank first in The New Wave, becoming the group's center.

He soon took over producing for the group, more than half of their discography can be credited to him.

Tragically, in 2018, Finn’s father was killed in a car crash on his way home from work. This resorted in Finn going on hiatus from DeepDive and returning to America to be with his family. DeeDive went with him to offer support and grieve the lost themselves. Alongside Finn, Noah, Han, and Jisung helped carry his father's coffin during the service.

Finn’s hiatus lasted 5 months, he’s later stated he almost withdrew from the group to take care of his mother and little sister but instead opted to go back to Korea and send his mother the little money he was making at the time. Upon his return to the group, Finn went on to produce the album that finally got the group off the group: Siren’s Song.

Finn is considered a musical genius by the general public, and a train wreck by his friends.

According to DASK RECORDS, JUNO, the leader of LOOBII will be the first member to debut as a solo artist this year, this news was finally stated with a very much anticipated announcement early this year as usual for DASK’s artists, published as their “NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS”, which are essentially the future debut plans of the company.

For several months now, there have been rumors circulating that JUNO will be dropping his first solo this year or last year, but it was never confirmed or denied by the company.

Since the group, the last few months, has been very busy promoting for their latest successful album “GLOOMY GARDEN” who exceeded almost 6 million physical album copies (5.87 million) in just little time from the official release.

This will be the last album released with all five members being signed under SUPERBLOOM MEDIA, as the company confirmed the departure of four members in early March. It would later be confirmed by the various South Korean music shows that Plastic Flowers' lead tracks ARE U COMING, EASIER, and KNOCK ME OUT would be banned from performance due to inappropriate lyrics and negative effects on the youth. They would instead promote THE RIVER for a month.

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀The album gets it name from the biblical story of the same name from GENESIS 11:1—9 and is an origin myth meant to explain why the world's peoples speak different languages. According to the story, a united human race used to speak a single language and when they moved eastward to Shinar, they decided to build a new city and tower with it's top in the sky. Observing their city and tower, Yahweh makes it so they can no longer understand each other and scatters them across the world. According to leader SALEM, the name TOWER OF BABEL was chosen to reflect the major themes of the album, which includes miscommunication, self-destruction, decaying relationships, and escapism.

That is why it was called Babel—because there, the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth ( NIV; Genesis 11:9 ).

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀TOWER OF BABEL would peak at NUMBER ONE and achieve a PERFECT ALL-KILL with the fifteen songs locking out the top spots for THREE DAYS. ‘ # 003.⠀ ⠀RUTHLESS ROCKSTARS ──── written, produced, and performed by salem kuaekulsri. originally released in 2017, ruthless rockstars is not only a fan favorite, but beloved by all five members. it was re-released with deurim to celebrate their short time together and show how plastic flowers have changed since 2017, with minor edits being made to the instrumentals. the song explores themes of frustration and defiance in the face of control of others. they are seen as suspects, watched closely, and labeled as "hopeless murderer" by those around them. those around the narrator continuously reject and oppose them, leading to a growing sense of resentment with the other around them. the chorus emphasizes their resolve to stay true to themselves because they are doing nothing wrong.

‘ # 011.⠀ ⠀NOTHING / EVERYTHING ──── written by oh deurim, produced by oh deurim and oliver song, and performed by oh deurim and kang junyeong. as the member with the least amount of songwriting credits, fans were excited to see what she would bring to such a conceptually strong album. thankfully, nothing / everything would rise to the occasion as an introspective song that dives into themes of perseverance, loyalty, and self-reflection, inviting the listen to contemplate their own experiences and struggles they may face. they question if they have given everything or lost everything, yet acknowledge that despite any deep changes, their heart remains steadfast and unchanged in its dedication to their loved ones. on live, she confirmed the song was written about plastic flowers and how much she's given over the past few years.

‘ # 012.⠀ ⠀JOKE! ──── written by lee jiyeon, produced by minami hiro, and performed by lee jiyeon. whatever jiyeon is going through, it's creating some amazing music as joke! explores themes of power dynamics, control, and emotional manipulation within a relationship. this enters a new "arc" of the album, which heavily focuses on relationships and the downsides of them. it depicts a complex dynamic between two individuals, with one asserting dominance and the other at their mercy. though they don't want to harm their lover, the narrator gains a sadistic pleasure from the other's reaction and gets a sense of empowerment from it. the phrase "i know you need to be someone, evil angel, or someone has to suffer" reflects that power dynamic, insinuating the other person much embody a deceptive person or endure suffering for their relationship to continue.

‘ # 015.⠀ ⠀I KNOW THE END ──── written, produced, and performed by salem kuaekulsri and lee jiyeon. at the end of the world, the narrator finds herself in a state of detachment and longing for the comfort of home, which she lost a long time ago. throughout the song, she reflects on past memories while acknowledging the inevitability of change and loss. as the song progresses, there is a sense of acceptance and embracing the unknown, symbolized by driving towards the sun and letting go of that fear. the haunting outro, featuring a long scream from jiyeon, suggests a sense of liberation and rebirth.

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS: 2,000,000 copies sold and The River won 17 times at the music shows. Are U Coming? also officially dethroned any record held by CNBLUE and Ft.Island as the top selling single by an idol band in South Korea.

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀This album was well received by fans and critics alike since they had spent the last few years complaining about "the old Plastic Flowers" being missing. Tower of Babel was the perfect combination of those beloved Oliver title tracks and b-sides that had gotten them their original fan base. Everyone has their opinions on Plastic Flowers' musical identity, but Tower of Babel will always be in their top five. It's just that album.

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀Critics rated the album four out of five stars. Though they were able to see some lyrical growth and new themes, many took issue with the album being composed of first drafts rather than finished songs. Many blamed Superbloom Media for this, however, as the band hasn't been given a proper break since their return from hiatus in May 2022. They praised Song and Kuaekulsri for their experiments when it comes to the new songs, however, they dismissed the other members as secondary songwriters. Han Jiyoon called the album "self-indulgent" and "fun", praising how the different arcs of the songs worked together to create a larger picture.

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀It was also noted by the members the album should be listened to in order of the original tracklist. Salem said, "putting the album in track order is always one of the hardest parts. For this album, we all agreed that the best way to listen to it was in order rather than shuffling around because of the different thematic arcs we composed. The beginning is very focused on that rougher and more rock and roll sound and mellows out at the end of I Know the End. It just makes the most sense."

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀When the track list dropped and fans saw they had brought in a bunch of guest producers and songwriters, everyone was torn, to put it nicely. Many Poppies have a complex about Plastic Flowers being completely self-produced for seven years and now, with their supposedly final release, they featured others? Call them Julius Caesar the way they felt back stabbed. Other fans were excited to see Plastic Flowers actually making friends and lowering the burden self-producing a studio album can take. Their main defense was that writing, producing, and promoting three studio albums in less than a year would destroy anyone so why not invite their friends to help out?

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀After Deep Dive's newest come back with Tax Writeoff, seeing Finn Lee in the credits for Tower of Babel was not surprising. Finn and lead singer Oliver were practically inseparable at this point and have been photographed inside their respective companies and even outside as well. In an Instagram live, a fan asked a question about working with Finn, to which Oliver replied: "It's always the best. He really understands whatever I can't put into words and where the music should go next. He's just great, I love being around him."

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀Salem stans were glad to see Hiro on the track list, knowing how close they are. In a live stream with Jiyeon, they reflected on how much fun it was having Hiro in the studio again and their misadventures with Roze as well. While reflecting on Bloom with Us!, Jiyeon said, "I know there's a lot of discourse surrounding having guest producers, but it made the album better. Having these fresh sets of eyes really helped navigate us forward and present the best album we could."

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀However, seeing the Chloe Lee of Venus on the producers list was a bit more surprising. In defense of Oliver, many Poppies had spoken ill of Chloe during Shooting Stars after she had called Oliver a "loser" on national television and seemed upset by his mere existence. In an interview with Elle Korea, Oliver laughed the whole thing off and reminded everyone about "evil editing" and that they'd gotten closer since Starzie's promotions for their debut album. "I mean, it's Chloe Lee," Oliver stated with a laugh, "I would be upset about losing as well. We've put that all aside, though. She was a really big help on The Sweetness and she got along well with the rest of the band. That's all you can really ask for sometimes."

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀In a suprise, it was Kang Junyeong who had the most to say about working with their label mate, Kwak Yulli of Belladonna. "I had never met her before this, but I can see why she's so popular. Great songwriter and even better singer, she's gonna go pretty far." He even likened her to bandmates Oliver Song and Serin. Yulli would repost the comment to her Instagram story with crying emojis and thanking Junyeong for his kind words.

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀The theories that fans were coming up for this album were actually insane but well proven by the lyrics and visual content. There were fan wars over any relationship pairing you could think of, especially with Oliver as many of his songs seemed to be about a new relationship rather than lamenting the past as usual. People looked into his recent interactions with other idols and his bandmates trying to figure out what was going on.

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀Speaking of shippers... The Salem & Oliver Truthers went insane over a report from Dispatch hinting at them maybe being together again. Their biggest piece of evidence was them being see shopping together in Gangnam. Not even a rumor about them being on a date and they had Twitter freaking out. Salem, however, shut this down pretty quickly with a comment while being interviewed on a variety show.

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀You either loved or hated the hair colors this era. While Salem, Junyeong and Serin all felt the love from their fans, they did not express the same feelings for Oliver and Deurim. Fans felt that their colors were playing it safe and should have also be a similar shade or just gone blonde like Salem had.

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀Plastic Flowers reminded everyone that they were singers first and a band second with their appearance on Dingo's Killing Voice. They sang Easier, Are U Coming?, Scared, The Chain, Death Valley's Take My Hand, Oliver's Youth, and b-sides Monster Among Men and Wishful Thinking. The video received over 2 million views within the first day.

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀This era was actually really good for the Found Family believers. There was very little fighting between the members and they all seemed to be at ease despite only one of them having a career past September. Even the hate train for Deurim seemed to be smaller than usual with the members talking about all the drafts and new music that she brought to the table.

★⠀⠀ ⁄ ⠀⠀The music video for EASIER was the talk of Twitter for days. The members were all featured on the accounts "kpop moments that could kill a sapphic" and "kpop moments that could kill achilleans" as they filmed in that cave. A self-described "Plastic Flowers anti" would go viral for asking "what business did Oliver Song have in that cave and acting like that" and honestly, they had a point! It's become a copypasta within the fandom now and is always featured in threads about Poppyville's best moments.

Noah will never forget the first time Hyerim showed interest in him. He was sixteen.

He never had time for girls, but he wanted a girlfriend. All his friends had girlfriends or at least a girl around, but never Noah. Noah only had friends but no girlfriends.

He was awkward around girls, especially pretty ones. He remembers he had a crush on Jung Yoonah at that time. He thought she was the prettiest girl in the world and still does, but every time he talked to her, he blushed, and she teased him about it. Clearly, Yoonah thought of Noah like a little brother, not a potential love interest like he wished she did.

Hyerim was the first woman to treat him like a man. She’d sit in his lap. She’d tell him how strong and mature he was for his age. Their conversations would last for hours about things Noah was too young to comprehend fully but thought he could. She was the first woman he had ever been with, his first kiss as well, but he doesn’t really remember it. He doesn’t like to remember it. Noah hates remembering.

“Do you want a cigarette?” Hyerim asks as Noah rests his cheek on her pillow, completely spent from his orgasm. His eyes are shut blissfully with a small nod, feeling her sit up and shift around her bed. She pushes him from his side to his back, making him sigh softly as his lips part. Hyerim slips the cigarette between his full lips, leaning down and lighting it with her violet lighter. His eyes open when the cigarette is lit, blinking tiredly as he takes a drag.

“Can I stay the night?” Noah asks sleepily, his eyes heavy as the cigarette rests between his fingers. From beside him, Hyerim nods, her free hand roaming his chest as she takes another drag of her cigarette. She turns her head towards him, but Noah’s gaze remains on his fingers, watching the cigarette burn between them. He’s so tired, he can’t stand it.

“You can stay forever, Noah,” Hyerim whispers, her lips hovering over his ear, making a chill run down his spine. His deep brown eyes look up at that, turning his head slightly so his nose brushes hers. There’s tightening in his gut at that, a feeling he can’t place but has felt a million times over in Hyerim’s bed. He smiles, dipping his head down to bump their foreheads together for a moment before pulling back. He reaches over to her bedside table to put his cigarette out on the ashtray she keeps there.

When his back is turned to her, he sighs quietly. He fears he might just stay forever, and he fears he won’t mind.

Noah’s hand engulfed Hyunjun’s as he walked his brother into the Angelico building. When he isn’t promoting, Noah picks his brother up from school and drops him off at Roan’s office or at home. Most of the time, it’s in Roan’s office. In the short time they’ve been brothers, Hyunjun has grown attached to Noah, refusing to let him leave if he drops him off at Roan’s apartment, screaming and crying until Noah caves and decides to stay. Noah thinks it’s because Hyunjun doesn’t like to be alone, which has to be genetic at this point. His mother told him stories about the fits he would throw when she would leave him home alone or with a sitter. He hated anyone who wasn’t his mother. Hyunjun hates anyone who isn’t his brother, with maybe the exception of Roan. Noah still can’t grasp if Hyunjun is happy living with Roan, but there’s also nothing he can do about it, even if he isn’t.

“You got your snacks?” Noah asks as they climb up the stairs. Hyunjun refuses to take the elevator. Noah thinks he’s a weird kid for that, but he doesn’t judge too hard. Hyunjin is only 8.

Hyunjun shakes his head. Noah clicks his tongue disapprovingly at him, tilting his head down at him as they wound a corner to walk up more stairs. Roan’s office is on the fifth floor. Noah already feels tired.

“You ate them at school again?” Noah asks, groaning when his brother nods his head. “You only do this to get money for the vending machines, right?” Noah teases, smiling at the boy who looks up at him with a sly smile, giggling. Noah shakes his brother’s small shoulders playfully, making the boy’s giggles bounce and grow. He can’t help but smile at the echoing of Hyunjun’s childish laugh. It’s a rare thing for Hyunjun to laugh no matter how hard Noah or Roan try, but it’s not like Noah can blame him. It’s been a hard year for the little boy.

“Sneaky,” Noah laughs as he opens the door to the fifth floor, letting Hyunjun walk through it first before he follows. Hyunjun puts his hand out to his brother, and Noah easily takes his hand back into his. They don’t need to hold hands for this part; it’s just a straight shot to Roan’s office, but Hyunjun always insists, and Noah doesn’t mind. Moments like this with his brother make it all feel real. They’re brothers. They’re the only ones left of their father. Even if Noah couldn’t stand his father in the end, Hyunjun will always be his brother.

“You need to eat the snacks Roan packed for you. The vending machine snacks will make you fat.”

“So? I’ll be happy,” Hyunjun counters. Noah just sighs. He can’t really argue that, and Hyunjun knows that. Noah rolls his eyes as he digs his pocket with his free hand, pulling out his wallet.

“Yeah, whatever, that’s all that matters, I guess.” Hyunjun smiles victoriously up at Noah as he pulls out a few dollar bills for the boy, passing them to him with two fingers. Hyunjun skips when he snatches the bills from his hand, holding it up like he won a prize. Noah can’t stop the smile that grows on his face at his brother’s happiness, feeling a warmth spread throughout his chest as he watches him celebrate the small victory of a vending machine snack.

“You be nice to Roan,” Noah tells Hyunjun as the stop in front of the man’s office. Hyunjun rolls his eyes at the sentence Noah feels like he’s said a billion times over. Noah grunts dismissively at his brother’s attitude, shaking his head and opening the door to Roan’s office, tugging Hyunjun inside even if he doesn’t have to.

Noah feels indifferent to Roan. He wishes he felt something towards the man responsible for his brother’s wellbeing, but he doesn’t. He’s grateful he’s around and lets them have their time together, but other than that, Noah can’t think of anything to say about Roan. He isn’t even sure how they’re really related, let alone his relation to him and Hyunjun’s father. There will always be an inch's worth of spite that even in his last moments on earth, his father didn’t think of him, but instead of Roan, a cousin he saw a handful of times throughout the year.

When the door opens, Roan’s head turns from his computer to greet the boys with a beaming smile; neither one of them can match. Noah always feels bad that he can’t meet Roan’s enthusiasm, but he at least tries. Hyunjun doesn’t even try. He just sulks over to the corner of the room and drops his bag to start his homework. Roan stares at Noah a bit longer than he should, making him uneasy as he looks around the office. Roan turns his gaze to Hyunjun, who is peeling off his school blazer.

“Hey, buddy,” Roan beams, pushing his chair back to dig in his pocket and pull out his wallet, pulling two five-dollar bills from it. “Why don’t you get us some snacks from the vending machines? Get whatever you want.”

Noah looks at Hyunjun with a knowing look, brows raised as he waits for his brother to tell Roan that he already has money for the vending machines. Hyunjun smiles at the dollar bills, snatching them from his hand like he did to Noah’s earlier and running out of the office without a single thank you.

Noah just sighs through his nose. Hyunjun is such a piece of–

“While I got you here,” Roan interjects his thoughts, making Noah blink and turn his attention towards the man who motions to the chair in front of his desk. It’s not the chair his father once had; he had sat in it a million times before. It’s new and softer looking. It actually looks comfortable to sit in, unlike the cold oak chairs Jinhwa had. Noah looks around for a moment before awkwardly moving to sit down.

Roan smiles at Noah. Noah gives that thing artificial smile he gave him earlier. He doesn’t understand what they’re doing, but when he’s in the office, he doesn’t feel like he has a choice. This office, no matter who sits behind the desk, will always belong to his father. His father’s hands will always be felt pressing hard on his shoulders, and his sharp, callous words will always cut through him, even if they’re just whispers now.

“How ya been?” Roan starts, leaning on the desk to be somewhat closer to Noah. Noah looks around again before shrugging.

“Fine. It’s going.”

“Good. That’s good.” A moment of silence. Noah is urged to check his phone to see the time, but he fights himself, not wanting to seem rude. His hands pat on his thighs instead, filling the room with some kind of noise. Roan abruptly pulls back to open a drawer in his desk and pulls out a file. Noah watches with newfound interest. His brows knitted together slightly.

“I just had a few questions for you about Jeon Hyerim.” Noah gulps, feeling his shoulders tense. He can feel his heart beginning to race even as he tries to quell it by taking a deep breath and shrugging his shoulders.

“What about her?” Noah tries to sound casual, but he comes off as hard and elusive as he always does. Roan opens the file, pulling out a few pieces of paper with blocks of text that Noah can’t really make out, but the length of the paragraphs makes him nervous.

“Well, I’m planning a new boy group to debut this winter, and, of course, they need a manager. Hyerim managed DeepDive pretty damn well until the acquisition, so,” Roan shrugs, letting Noah fill in the blanks. Even as Noah fills them in, his eyes go vacant, staring at the desk in front of him. There’s a tightening in his throat that he can’t ignore, and he hates it. Roan tilts his head at Noah, humming slightly.

“I’ve heard some things about her, though,” Roan starts slowly, staring holes into Noah’s face, but Noah’s vision is blurred from staring at the desk for so long. “Involving you.”

“Woojin’s a liar,” Noah interjects sharply, suddenly coming back to life when he’s hit with the memory of that night.

Noah always thought Woojin talked too much for being such a useless group member. Talent-wise, he was average. The only thing he had was that he was pretty, which is nothing special in this industry. Pretty is the average around here, especially in Angelico. He always spoke about things he didn’t know anything about, especially on those stupid livestreams he used to do. Noah grits his teeth at the thought, biting the inside of his cheek as Roan hums.

“I didn’t ask about Woojin. I’m asking about you,” Roan reiterates. Suddenly, the office feels cold and familiar again. His father is looming over his shoulders with his hands like deadweights on his shoulders, making Noah bite his cheek harder.

“What is you two’s relationship?”

Noah feels like throwing up, and he doesn’t know why. Hyerim is his girlfriend, in a way, not really, but he loves her, and she loves him. She’s always loved him, and she always will no matter what new group she manages or what boys she looks at, she’ll always love Noah the most. She gave him her word on that.

“I don’t think that’s any of your–”

“It is because I don’t want my managers fucking my talent,” Roan interjects again, making Noah hold his breath. Roan forces a smile, shrugging his shoulders. “Conflict of interests. If my artists are her dating pool–”

“I’m not your artist.”

“You’re not anymore, but you were, which is why I’m asking: What was your relationship with her?” Roan says every word slowly as if Noah is dumb. Noah rubs his nose, sniffing as he does so. He avoids his gaze, looking off to the side and remaining quiet as his mind races. There’s nothing he could come up with that Roan probably won’t sniff out as a lie, but stating the truth would only end with Hyerim’s wrath. He rubs his face, abruptly standing, sending the chair skirting back.

“Sit down.”

“Don’t talk to me like that,” Noah huffs, hands on his hips as he starts to pace. Roan’s gaze is relentless, forearms on the desk as he watches Noah like a hawk.

“You’re not–”

“I said: Sit down.” With a simple change of inflection and rise of volume, Noah listens. He sits back down, his leg instantly beginning to bounce as he does so.

He’s not dumb. He knows how people view him and Hyerim, or at least certain people. They tell him it’s so horrible he did that to him, that she should’ve gone to prison, then they ask him if he’s okay and how he’s doing now. Noah hates it. He hates being treated like he’s some victim when he’s the furthest thing from it. He and Hyerim met unconventionally, sure, and maybe the law didn’t see their love as right, but he did, and that’s all that mattered. He was in charge, and he chose to date Hyerim.

Roan’s eyes look at Noah’s bouncing leg, then up at the boy’s face, taking a deep breath through his nose.

“Noah, I’m not trying to make you upset.”

Noah scoffs, bringing his nails to his mouth and biting down hard. He needs a cigarette. He needs Hyerim. She’d know what to do.

“I just want to protect my artists. I want to protect those boys. They’re young.”

Noah was young once, too. He is still young, but he was a child once, probably as young as the boys Roan is speaking of. In a way, Noah still feels that young. He doesn’t feel like he’s gotten any older since he started seeing Hyerim; he's just more tired. Noah sighs, swallowing thickly as he looks at Roan, defeated.

“We’ve been seeing each other for a couple of years now,” Noah finally admits out loud, sighing quietly once it’s finally in the air. He feels tears in his eyes. He doesn’t understand why they’re there, making his throat feel like it’s closing up on him. He wants to leave this place. He can’t stand it here. He can still hear his father yelling at him to man up and that he was lucky a woman like Hyerim wanted a boy like him.

Noah bites the inside of his cheek, pressing the tips of his fingers to his mouth as his eyes stay glued to the corner of the room.

“Is it bad?” Noah asks shakily, “Is what she did bad?”

A part of him already knows the answer, making him sick to his stomach. Roan’s gaze softens as Noah gradually breaks down in his chair, watching the boy hold back sobs that spill from his lips anyway, tears beginning to run down his cheeks.

“When did it start?” That is all Roan asks. Noah figures that’s the answer enough.

“I was sixteen,” Noah whispers, the age finally sounding as young as it actually was and not as wise and mature as Hyerim made him believe it was. “God, I was sixteen.”

He thinks of his brother when he says that. One day, Hyunjun will be sixteen, and Noah will still think of him as a baby. It makes him sick to think about someone twice his age telling Hyunjun everything Hyerim would say to him when he was that age. How could anyone say those things to someone so young? Noah would never do something like that, so why would Hyerim? He wasn’t in charge. He was just a boy.

Roan takes a deep breath, looking at the door behind Noah as if to give the other a moment of privacy as he wipes his tears, sniffling softly to himself. Noah uncovers his face, but he doesn’t look at Roan; just wipes his eyes and swallows thickly with a soft groan. He wants to leave. It’s time for him to go home.

“I don’t want her in trouble,” Noah tells Roan with a loud sniffle, “She–I know–She’s not a bad person. We love each other. I-I don’t want her to lose her job, please.” There’s a pause that makes Noah shake his head.

“She’s going to be so mad. Please, don’t–”

“I won’t fire her, Noah. I won’t even tell her we talked,” Roan assures with a small nod, eyes wide enough to tell Noah the man feels in over his head. Most people do when he even gives them a glimpse of his and Hyerim’s relationship. Noah wipes under his eyes with the back of his hand, nodding in gratitude.

“Thank you. Thank you. She’s…She’s not a bad person. I know it’s-” A million words fill Noah’s head on what he could say to describe him and Hyerim’s relationship: Wrong, inappropriate, unethical. “It’s unconventional, but I love her and she loves me.” Even though Noah is looking at Roan’s concerned face, it doesn’t feel like he’s talking to him. It sounds like he’s trying to convince someone else of the validity of his and Hyerim’s relationship. Roan’s eyes look over Noah’s tear-stained face, clearing his throat as he pushes a box of tissues towards him.

Noah plucks a few out of the box, wiping under his eyes with a deep breath to ground him. He loves Hyerim, he tells himself, and she loves him. They are just two people who love each other. That’s all they’ve ever been: two people who love each other, and that’s all they’ll continue to be. Noah doesn’t see his life without Hyerim in it in some capacity. Whether she’s in the background or the foreground. She’ll always be there, etched into his mind like some ancient text he can’t erase.

Roan watches as Noah composes himself, eyes looking over the boy again before swallowing quietly. Noah stands, running a hand over his face with a clear of his throat, jerking his thumb towards the door as his eyes stay glued to the ground.

“I, uh, I have to go, but can you tell Jun I said bye? I need to…get to the studio.”

Noah has never been a good liar. Still, Roan smiles even if Noah can’t see it, watching as he heads towards the door with newfound haste.

“I hope it all works out for you, Noah.” Noah doesn’t know why those words make his brows knit, feeling a sharp pang in his chest as they crawl into his ears. Despite his discomfort, Noah nods a silent thank you, swallowing down his emotions as he usually did.

When Noah leaves, his hands are still shaking.
