Is the economy currency based or based on bartering physical goods? What is most valuable? What is least?

there wouldnt have been much time for doing more “meaningless” things like using time and effort to create monetary items (coins, paper money, etc) and people probably wouldnt have put much value on things like this because the goal was survival and that was that. gold isnt going to get you anything in terms of surviving. so that leaves trading and things of that nature. im on the fence about this because i think that, given aitarans views on physical/emotional bonds (they are important as HELL) it’s safe to say that these beliefs had roots in pre split aitaran, especially since aitarans pretty traditional to begin with. so! considering that, it’s also safe to believe that people were doing a fair amount of leaning on each other and so trading wouldnt have been as big of a deal! just giving stuff for free so that everyone can keep surviving. if anything, i imagine that larger scenarios where people give another party a LOT of stuff would end in there being some sort of trade. it could also be a scenario where it was on the condition of ok! i will give you X things of great value but im taking one of your kids (for help on the farm etc) OR seeing if we can get two of our kids to hook up (because mortality rate was incredibly high, lots of people were dying young what with the whole apocalyptic setting, people were really freaking out about whether or not humanity would survive as a whole).

obviously humanity keeps on going and does not die out because we wind up with wthi a solid ~1900 years later (barring timeline resets). i would imagine that over time, people resume trading materials instead of giving things for free. again, though, these are material trades and not monetary. the thing is though! now there are multiple gods because we’re post split! people have become very careful about making sure that all gods are worshipped almost equally (some people pick and choose which gods to worship but religion is a whole nother can of worms). what IM thinking is that different gods enjoy different offerings, so that would mean that some economies would be booming. lets use different minerals as an example. assuming that different gods enjoy different minerals (copper, bronze, silver, gold, hell, maybe something more fun like lapis), i think itd be reasonable to think that there are multiple industries involved with mining, polishing, and selling/trading these minerals so that they can be used as offerings for gods. in turn, these minerals could become a sort of currency, some being more valuable than others. theres probably some sort of conversion rate between all of the minerals depending on what is most commonly found in the mines. obv i have to think more about how many types of coins exist, but im thinking 3-5 at minimum. the other thing with this is! lets say that a business owner is one of the people that pick and choose what god they wanna worship. theyre not gonna care as much about certain currencies because they offer X currency to X god and thats it. so! you wind up with some businesses only accepting X type of coin and no others.

so! i guess in a way you could interpret these coins as indulgences when theyre offered to gods. people essentially just pay the gods to leave them the hell alone and not try to start another apocalypse lmaoooo. this DOES raise the question as to what medriva and vanaam (euvimanite society) do for money. vanaam, being incredibly closed off, probably sticks to trading objects and not money. medriva deals with an entirely different religion for the most part but began as part of aitaran, so they probably have retained some aspects of aitaranian money with some minor differences (ie no offering it to gods, maybe less forms of currency. this also all hinges on the availability of some minerals up north since trade between aitaran and medriva is very very difficult).

ok. whew. question 37. How do people navigate? Do they have maps, compasses, or something else? How are these things made?

i think for the most part people just use maps! probably ones made out of some kind of paper as opposed to tanned hides or something of that nature. some dark magic users have started on trying to create technology that allows you to locate places/things more easily, but dark magic tech is a long ways away from being fully usable because of how few people are capable of using it proficiently

i am very very very intrigued by the mattie/farrah au in your quiz,,, would really like to know what you think would look like!

honestly i think it was the last summary i wrote at like midnight and despite it being the longest one... im not too sure how it could go 😭

i think there would need to be a lot of world building for the witch side and how it intergrates with real life bc im sure most of mattie’s customers are witches she just didnt know (bc who would)

with mattie i think once she got the book she probably took it home and read it like 20 times over trying to make sense of it and for the most part it doesnt but shes able to work out a recipe or two for something she doesnt know so she takes some stuff from the apothecary and decides to make one after school in the chemistry lab thinkin its going to be some hippie facecream or lotion or something. what she doesnt realise is that some things she read wrong so accidentally creates the beginnings of a curse.

at this same time farrah is in detention again a few doors down getting angry/upset over something or another so her magic builds and sets off the curse mattie began. this is when the two reunite and have to undo the curse before it starts causing things to go seriously wrong or the League of Magick™ comes and tells them off (but like with serious consequences)

farrah doesnt know how magic really works she found a few books in her attic and realised she could understand a lot of it. her mother was a witch but she left when she was young (perhaps could come back near the climax of the story in an important way?? idk) and her dad/step-family are non-magical. when farrahs emotions get the best of her she usually causes things to happen which makes her feels lost and a burden. im sure thered be some overarcing metaphor about learning to control her powers as she learns her place in the world/her purpose/identity.

i dont think thered be any enemies/rivalry between farrah and mattie i think that theyre both in need of friendship so take it when they get the chance. i do however think farrah would be apprehensive/almost untrusting in the friendship at first due to her powers only hurting people/pushing them away but she’d soon realise that mattie trusts her with her life so they can move towards relationship territory? (and yeah they obvs fix the curse somehow)

so yeah i dont rly have an idea as to what the major conflict would be specifically but thats the rough idea of how i think it would go!! feel free to send me any ideas you have of what could happen/specific scenes you think could happen!!

What character that you’re writing do you most identify with?

right now? either vera or mabel. vera is... not Right, and not Wanted by the outside world, so she’s angry and stupid to combat it. and mabel just... loves Her Person more than anything in the world, so there’s that.

again, mabel!! she’s so fun and angry all the time and it’s so freeing to just be able to do whatever the hell you WANT with a character

yes! here! there’s one story i’ve only shared with two people and that’s my borderline-ridiculous ‘beetlejuice with lab rats and gay shit and werewolves’ au, it’s the most self indulgent thing i’ve ever written and i love it so much.

usually while listening to songs!! fr example my most recent posted fic is a lyric from ‘cop car’ by mitski because the line ‘i get mean when i’m nervous / like a bad dog’ makes me think of mabel, thus that fic came into existence.

Which is harder: titles or summaries (or tags)?

SUMMARIES i hate summaries usually i just paste in whatever i’ve got as the first sentence.

not really? new fandom but. i got my bread and butter, dude, i don’t feel like branching out. writing’s just a hobby i’m okay at.

i don’t think so !! like some of the stuff is personal and you can’t really understand from an outside POV, but. most of it is just dorky found family stuff!

oh dear god yes... i mean. obvs river youre asking this youre aware of my aus. but i have a billion aus, theyre my favorite thing to write and ive got at least three for every fandom i’m in. i have an au for my lab rat beetlejuice au, too, which i’ll get around to writing someday.

Is there something you always find yourself repeating in your writing? (favourite verb, something you describe ‘too often’, trope you can’t get enough of?)

ALL I DO IS DESCRIBE PEOPLE’S TEETH AND PHYSICAL AFFECTION. uhh i use the phrase ‘bared their teeth / had far too many teeth / smiled with too many teeth’ a lot, its because i find it the easiest descriptor for monsters and i like to write about monsters.

Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)

ohh god okay youngmabel take three. anna wears soft reds and lots of layers-- to contrast mabel, who wears a thin nightgown and has a bright green color palette. this is largely because mabel has been made to show herself to everyone who’s tried to control her (sally, aurora silver, etc) while anna hides in herself. anna specifically wears one of mónica’s old sweaters, because she can hide and protect herself with her family, while mabel cant. also i love mónica im so hype to have her in the series. mabel also repeats things in groups of threes (”hello, hello, hello, anna, hello, hello, hello”) because she’s fae. i love her. ough and i cant wait for the character development you guys rnt ready fr this dumb series

What other medium do you think your story would work well as? (film, webcomic, animated series?)

I WOULD LOVE FR IT TO BE AN ANIMATED SERIES but also it as a film would rock.... yeahhhhh

Do you reread your old works? How do you feel about them?

my xmen ones, yeah. they’re really comforting for me. i feel like i wanna give my kid self a big big hug.

What’s the story idea you’ve had in your head for the longest?

probs the daemons au or the agents of shield / xmen crossover.. those both gave baby abbey a lot of fun hours.

you’re a songwriter at jyp and you’ve worked with a lot of different groups in there, getting to know the trainees and debuted groups

when you’re not working with debuted groups, you’re helping out some of the trainees

some of them have told you how much they look up to you since you’re young but you’ve gotten so far in life, writing lyrics and melodies for one of the top 3

and they’re always asking you for tips and ideas and if you can read over some of the lyrics theyve written

and theyre always asking for your opinion on whether the melody goes with the lyrics theyve written

and you love how inspired and determind they are bc it’s hard being a trainee, going to school AND writing lyrics/ composing on the side

you’ve worked with a lot of trainees, but when jyp himself asked you to work w a kiddo named chan you were really excited!!!

ok hes not really a kiddo, he was a year younger than yourself but!! who cares!!!

you two hit it off really quickly, being vvv good friends in a short amount of time

some other trainees had suggested you listen to some soundcloud group 3racha and you really liked them!!!

and now!! you’re working with one of them!!!

jyp knew that chan was rly good at song writing and composing, and it was getting closer to the survival show time, so he asked you to help chan out

guiding him on how to write a Hit Song

so you worked closely with him before the show had started airing, running through the tips you had learnt through your years of writing

and you ran through different concepts and ideas he wanted to express through his music and songs

after a month of constant-coffee-meet-ups and late night freestyles you two had gotten vv close

practically inseparable, even tho you both were v busy, you w composing and him with his group

there rly was never a dull moment between you two and you rly liked having a proper friend that you could trust and vent to if need be

the day he introduced you to his group was wild!!!

he invited you out to a restaurant after the hellevator mv dropped

when you got there, he was standing at the entrance and he was like “:00 you came!!! took you long enough!!”

so you say hi etc, introduce yourself and then take a seat next to chan

even tho you had known chan for a long time, you rly had only worked w him

like, he would always come to your office to work on stuff or you’d meet in public places, but it was only ever the two of you

so you were happy you finally got to meet the others!!

it was rly fun meeting all of them, they were so lively!!!

they were asking all sorts of questions abt you, your job, interests etc and they were rly thankful that you helped chan bc he imparted his knowledge + help onto them

and chan was like “yeah thanks for all your help!! this is all stressful so it was vv helpful that you guided me on how to do this stuff!!”

but as soon as the food came? they were silent

like seriously, there was barely any chatter

only small grumbles from jisung when seungmin stole his food

you had spoken to changbin a lot throughout the night

he was sitting next to you and you were internally Combusting bc

oh man you were sitting in between 2/3 of 3racha and you had to admit

changbin was probs your fave outta the 3 of them

man,, you really loved his tone of voice and how he could change it so easily within a song, and it would still flow so!! well!!!

he did that like the day before he was gonna introduce you two

so he had already planned to expose you and see changbin blush like Crazy

and when he saw you and changbin trailing behind the group after dessert, phones out to exchange details, he Knew ;^)))

more head/canon post for mochi & lime!! (some stuff i need to get down since its been a bit)

mochi and lime first met when they were 5 and her and her mom moved into the town

limes FIRST EVER interaction with her was sticking his tongue out and making one of THOSE NASTY KID FACES so they did not get off to a good start

mochi and lime actually hated each other until they were like 12

(not like HATE hate but. a sereve rivalry dislike)

in kindergarden/1st grade (before mochi got there) lime was like. everyones favorite. he was a super cute, super smart kid and all the adults just loved him!!! he was friends with all his classmates

when MOCHI came along she was JUST AS CUTE and on par with how smart he was, she was just more quiet and mature, so all the teachers LOVED HER and he was jealous

this is why he started bullying/teasing/making fun of her

throughout most of their elementary/middle school they would compete over grades and sports. top tier rivalry. (their parents/grandparents growing rivalry between businesses wasnt helping much either)

yet lo and behold. they kept getting put together in group projects. because their names were next to each other alphabetically. they spent a lot of nights at each others houses trying to do those middle school science projects, the whole time sneering and jabbing at each other

mochi was never really one to be nasty to someone (that was 90% lime), she was patient enough to quietly ignore them and/or subtly shame them for their behavior (lime HATED this because he would be so mean to her and she wouldnt insult him back. guilt x10)

late middle school/early high school mochi started getting picked on by a different group of kids, which lime saw and ended up sticking up for and defending her.

he makes some excuse like “Hey, I must just have some kind of hero complex” or something, and afterwards mochi sees him differently. ‘Maybe hes not so bad’ and ‘That was kind of nice of him’

later lime goes home and wonders ‘Maybe I don’t actually hate her’

when theyre old enough to go to school and go home by themselves, they always walk together. he doesnt notice he gets a bit more protective of her (from the other kids) and she starts to develop a crush on him. long walks and train rides home and they start to actually become friends. turns out they get along really well when theyre not fighting

after a while lime starts making excuses to hang out with her. mochi has no problem inviting him to go shopping with her or whatever, but his prideful ass has a problem with hanging out with her just because he wants to so he fakes his need for help in school so he can come over to her house (she doesnt mind at all)

mochis mom LOVES HIM A LOT!!!!!! hes like her son..... shes always trying to give him free food from their shop... he doesnt know how to tell her hes tired of eating her food all the time....

when they were young kiwi would go and pick them both up from school. either by car or taking the train home with them (just to make sure they were ok)

when they got to high school they stopped competing as much (since obv lime grew to be WAY more athletically inclined and they helped each other with school anyway) they become best friends without either of them even noticing

mochi stays after school to wait for lime to get done with his sports practice some days, lime stays and waits for her to finish her club meetings, because of this they end up being friends with each others clubs by accident. all the baseball guys try to hang with mochi during rests. all mochis club members swoon over lime

mochis known about her heritage as a witch from the time she was born when shes 16 (or 15, havent decided yet) her powers awaken, and Pom is born to guide and protect her

coco loves to dance. not professionally, but just like. on the street. in her room. at school. she just puts in her earphones and uptown funks her ass down the halls.

shes REALLY good at it but doesnt want to like. dance for a living or anything

coco is also a part of the self defense club. she can fucking fight let me tell you. like limes fighting style is more like SWING THE BAT WITH WRECKLESS ABANDON (and somehow wins???????), mochi uses magic, but coco holy FUCK shes the up close physical fighter. DANGER

i like the idea of cocos magic kicking shoes. her kicks have POWER man

(im thinkin she might have two younger maybe twin brothers?????)

coco is like the LAST to find out about mochi. taffy breaks it to her. and shes like “MAN what are you on. need me some of that” “WITCHES ARNT REAL YOU PAGAN MOP HOLY FUCK”

and poor taffy is just shook., and slightly scared.

taffy is a bit older than the bunch. mochi lime and coco are all 16, taffy is 18/19

coco lives in a different part of town, so she hangs out with mochi guys in school but she never really comes over to mochis house at night (unless its a sleepover)

lime is extremely thankful for this

part of the reason lime doesnt like coco is because. other than the fact that shes COCKY, SARCASTIC AND RASH, mochi gets along really well with her. he fears his best friendship with her is in danger

what will i do if she ditches me????? who else can i just hang out with???????? no one else gets me like mochi does??????????????

i dont know what point this happens but. im 90% sure taffy like stalks coco a little. hes a curious soul

coco swears regularly. lime only swears when hes trying to get a point across/uses the f word as an exclamation point or when hes mad. mochi CAN swear, but doesnt. taffy: f. im nervous

crimes of grindelwald thoughts

alright obvious spoilers not that it matters bc i have one follower lmao but !! i need somewhere to scream abt this movie

first of all i love jacob and newt so much. best parts of this movie honestly i love them and i want them to be happy

but to be fair i actually rlly rlly enjoyed watching this movie!! like,, there are a looot of things i dont understand about it and i have no idea how they happened or why theyre happening but thats Okay i would still recommend everyone watch it! its so good!!!

good things:

- grindelwald !! i mean,, no hes not a good thing but i really liked how they wrote his character. like i can UNDERSTAND the power he has over people and how hes manipulating them. hes really not just a Voldemort 2.0 and i respect that a lot bc thats not what an entirely different villain should be like. but casting issues and all aside i really liked this

- i also liked the interaction between leta lestrange and dumbledore that was some good stuff and the actors were rlly good too !!! - i like the direction queenie is going in. i mean i dont actually of course but it seems realistic and i think its important and its good character development n stuff so hhh hope that works out later tho !! i am Suspense

- jacob walked into that movie and i was like !!!!!!!!! :DDDDDDDDDDDDD i love him so much and it was rlly nice to see him back even if i dont think it was that neat to have him lose his memory of everything that happened for significance and in this movie have everything go like WHOOMP hes back but i uhhhh loved it anyway so this is not a complaint its a good thing - i still loved newt and having a good main character makes the whole movie a better watch in general. ive seen sequels where i just Cant get attatched to the new characters but wow i didnt really have much of a problem with that here

- it was also never boring and i really just loved n enjoyed this movie a lot!!! okay hhh bad things/things that i personally disliked:

- ive seen different opinions on this but??? what was that blood pact????? what are u doing??????????????? i cant even be coherent properly so here are the main reasons that was rlly dumb

1- w-who does that in a romantic relationship ever :o and yes jkr has literally said dumbledore n grindelwald were in LOVE HELLO feel free to correct me if im wrong on anything but if ur gonna say it u should show it,,,, Continuity Please. anyway separate issue but if u love someone youre not gonna be like “hey lets make SURE we dont fight each other ever” because youll trust that the other person?? isnt gonna fight u???!!!???? im

2- thats literally not the reason he “cannot move against grindelwald” okay like it shouldnt be. this conversation literally happens in dh and dumbledore says he was scared of facing what rlly happened when ariana died!! there was no actual physical thing stopping him!!! the only acceptable justification is that he doesnt want to face this ghosts of his past and that moment and he is SCARED okay so COME ON give dumbledore his faults! hes scared of his past and that IS the reason!!

3- wait how did grindelwald, aberforth, and albus fight if they had already entered a blood pact. like i dont think albus would aim for his own brother EVER but could he even attack grindelwald if they had a blood pact?? not sure how this works lol but who was he aiming for then??? just firing everywhere randomly without intention cause that sounds,,, significantly harder to believe and makes that scene loads messier esp if grindelwald couldnt aim for albus either so

4- the blood pact was so frickin unnecessary im sobbing. like there was the scene where its all like “oh some say you were as close as brothers” and dumbledore is like “oh we were closer than brothers...” and im like OK! the little scene in the air doesnt explicitly reveal anything either so thats ok but the closer than brothers line was rlly revealing for me. at least for like two minutes and then dumbledore looked in the mirror and saw himself making a blood pact w grindelwald. like ok is That what u meant by closer than brothers bc thats what everythings pointing to but it shouldnt be and i.............ugh

5- im honestly just kind of hhhhhhhhhhhh. i can concede that the blood pact might be significant in later films and i look forward to watching them! but. at the same time i. wish that if you were going to say dumbledore was gay it would actually be explicitly referenced in the movie, instead of dancing around that and dropping it in hints and pieces that fans of the series who know this information will understand and others can just dismiss as friendship! there were So Many good places in this movie to include this fact (altho feel free to disagree w me haha) and i think that not including this fact was honestly tiring.

- nagini...........obv this isnt a huge problem bc idk where her story will go next n it might develop n become important but as of rn, i have no idea what her role in this movie is. i wonder if her reappearance in the harry potter series will actually be of significance and if itll be explained how she will end up under servitude to voldemort bc i genuinely dont understand right now. it just seems like a cameo to draw attention in the trailer ghgdjh

- leta lestrange’s death didnt feel right or impactful and im sad . definitely a huge opinion here but it felt like a mandatory character snuff to make the movie sad and ghdsjgfh oh well :(

- little continuity issues?? dumbledore being DADA professor instead of transfiguration bc Boggarts Are Important For Foreshadowing. also how is mcgonagall an adult or actually how is she even alive and um of course the fact that this movie doesnt confirm what jkr has said about dumbledore and grindelwald beforehand.

- im actually going to totally repeat myself bc this deserves a separate point umm why arent dumbledore and grindelwald actually shown as in love with each other as young men. its completely relevant to the movie and its not hard to put it in there instead of the bLOOD PACT (ask anyone irl ive been screaming abt the blood pact ever since i came out of that movie). anyway i know david yates said he wouldnt be including that as part of the movie as fans are aware of that aNyway but its not that hard to understand. people are asking for actual representation?? not smt vague??? because this is just here to Please People. if u refuse to see this ship, ure just gonna see them as having a friendship! maybe u havent heard about what jkr said or maybe ure choosing to ignore it bc,, idk that says smt about u, or maybe another reason idk! but if u go into this knowing they were In Love and hoping to see confirmation of dumbledore being canonically gay, youre going to hear that “oh, we were more than brothers” line and be like oh yeah we been knew, or more seriously like hey! maybe we’re getting a canon confirmation, not just floaty young people leaning towards each other! like when he looked in the mirror i was like okay This Is It this is gna be confirmation but then it wasnt oop. it was the !!! bloooood paaact !!! which means that people could interpret the “closer than brothers” line as meaning oh we done did a blood pact that means we blood related look at us go! Wow! so this is basically just a half azzed attempt at pleasing people w stereotypical viewpoints and people happy to see representation. hmmmmmmmmmm.. (psst if u actually ship older dumbledore n grindelwald tho What Are You Doing Stop !! thats not a healthy relationship, grindelwald is an awful person and dumbledore deserves to grow from the person he was before!!! he deserves so much better!!! im not saying to ship them but im saying that if we’re gonna say they were in love as young men and if we are going to confirm that dumbledore is gay well,,, lets put that in canon pls!!!! we need canon representation but we dont need to pretend this ship is healthy or good bc its representation either. this isnt shipping this is asking to acknowledge that dumbledore was gay and in love with grindelwald and its confirmed that grindelwald was in love with him too. in the place the story of tcog is now, that relationship is not ever going to happen again and if u actually think it is ure suffering from some next-level delusion. just be definitive and acknowledge that your characters are LGBT tho pls!! u said they were!!! actually i would be so much happier to see a Happy And Healthy LGBT Pairing can we have that? please?)

- big spoiler but hOW IS CREDENCE ALBUS’ BROTHER WHAT IS HAPPENING DKFJDKSH i need to separate my thoughts again

1- AGE DIFFERENCE........apparently dumbledore is like 46 in this movie right?? credence doesnt look over 20. okay percival dumbledore is put in azkaban before albus starts school right?? so the maximum age albus can be is 11. now im gonna say that kendra was not having any more kids w anyone else after that incident fs so the oldest albus can be when ariana is born is 12, leaving room for some other stuff okay. ALBUS AND CREDENCE DONT LOOK LIKE THEY HAVE A 12 YEAR AGE GAP WHAT IS HAPPENINF

2- i saw people theorizing that credence is ariana’s son and NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO PLS NO

3- not an actual issue but i thought grindelwald said his name was berrylius dumbledore which i later remembered as berrylium dumbledore and anyway thank god for the internet

4- okay at this point i cant tell if this has just been brought in for shock value or smt like. is this relevant to the plot. is grindelwald even telling the truth. w-why did the movie end there. help....... i think thats it but i do want to say that i respect the rights of the creator jkr to do whatever she wants w these characters. its her world! but i can have a whole bunch of opinions n feelings about this movie and still support it. after all, i love harry potter and the whole wizarding world w my whole heart.
