The Things We Don't Tell the Jedi Council

You finally came to a stop after chasing your target for what felt like forever, and you retracted your lightsaber as you took a look at your surroundings. In your attempts to catch up with the man that the Jedi Council believed was a Separatist spy, you had weaved through the streets of a crowded city, and you now stood in the middle of a much less populated area, tall trees with purple leaves everywhere you looked. The sound of your comlink beeping pulled your attention back to the present. “I had him for a moment, but he slipped away” Anakin’s voice came through once you accepted the call. “What about you?”

“I chased him for a while, but he somehow disappeared into the crowd,” you said. “Where are you?”

“I don’t know,” he responded. “Where are you?”

If he were standing next to you at this point, you would have rolled your eyes at him for asking you that. “What makes you think I’m any less lost than you are?”

Silence. “Good point,” he eventually answered. “I don’t think the ship is coming to pick us up until tomorrow, do you have any idea where we can regroup and stay for the night?”

“I think there’s an inn in the town,” you said. “Do you want to meet me there? We should just ask someone for directions, because clearly neither of us know enough to get there on our own.”

“I think you’re right.”

A little less than an hour (and one confusing conversation with an exceptionally patient Falleen woman later), you were walking up to the front door of the inn, and you heard him call your name from behind you.

Letting out a sigh of relief you didn’t know you were holding in, you smiled at him. “I’m sorry we couldn’t get that guy,” you said.

“I told Obi-Wan this was a bad idea,” Anakin responded, shaking his head. “Now we’ve just tipped him off to the fact that the Republic is onto him.”

“It’s alright,” you responded. “We’ll catch up to him another day.”

Anakin looked like he wanted to say something, but decided against it at the last minute. “I suppose.”

By the time you managed to make it into a room, you were half asleep. It didn’t help that you only had enough credits for one room instead of two (this planet was expensive!), and on top of that, there was only bed.

You must have looked like you were about to cry, because Anakin gently touched your shoulder. “It’s alright,” he said. “If you’re not comfortable sharing the bed with me I can sleep on the floor.”

“I’m not going to let you sleep on the floor,” you said instantly. “I don’t mind sharing the bed.”

If you were being completely truthful with yourself, you wanted to share the bed with him. You could never deny that there was some kind of spark between you and Anakin, and despite all the warnings from older Jedi about the danger of attachments, you had fallen in love with him anyway. You could never pluck up the courage to tell him how you felt, but there was no point in that anyway. You were sure that he didn’t feel the same way, and it would never be allowed as long as you were both part of the Jedi Order. For those reasons, you kept your feelings to yourself.

Forgoing dinner completely (mostly because neither you nor Anakin was confident that you could find your way back to the inn if you left in search of food), you took turns washing up in the refresher before you got into the bed and turned off the light.

For a few moments, it was like the two of you were both holding your breath, not moving a muscle as you laid next to each other. You tried to block out the way that your thoughts were screaming at you and just go to sleep, but there was no way to ignore it. Yes, you had been dreaming of this for so long, but it was also complete and utter torture to lay next to him like this and not be together like you wanted to be.

Eventually, he seemed to have enough of it as well, and you heard him quietly say your name through the deafening silence. “Yes?” you asked.

You shifted, turning so that you were facing his direction, and he clearly had the same idea, but you ended up way closer to him than you had ever been before. There was light from the city outside filtering in through the blinds on the window, so you could see him fairly well. Your face inches from his, it was suddenly very hard to think. “Are you okay?”

“I understand if this makes you uncomfortable, but I really want to kiss you right now.” The words were already out of your mouth before you had realized what you said, but they didn’t seem to be a problem, because Anakin didn’t even bother to respond before he closed the gap between you and placed his lips on yours.

There was a certain thrill to kissing him, maybe it was because you had been dreaming of it for so long, or maybe because it was definitely against the Jedi Code, but in this moment, you could care less about what the rules said, all you wanted to focus on was the way his lips felt against yours.

When you finally pulled away, you stared intently at him. “What about the code?”

What escape Anakin’s mouth sounded like something between a snort and a laugh. “When have I ever been someone who has followed the rules before?” he asked, and you had to admit that he had a point there. “And besides, I’ve been in love with you since we first met, and I finally can’t hold it in for another moment.”

Still not totally convinced this wasn’t some wild joke, you continued to stare at him. “Really?” Your voice was quiet, but there was no mistaking the hopeful tone.

“Yes,” he said, leaning in to kiss you again, but stopping when your faces were just inches away. “So, are you in or not?”

Your answer was not spoken, but rather your movement to close the gap between you and him once more, but there was never any question about where you stood on this. Jedi Code be damned, you had everything you wanted right here.

Vader also plays with the buttons on his suit when he’s nervous ✋😭

I want the violence of a reunion surrounded by the peace of two souls longing for each other 😭 I want men crying and Ani nuzzling on his neck I want Obi-Wan to pull away just to relearn Anakin’s face, I want Obi-Wan promising the stars that he will never let Ani out of his sight again … I want Obi-Wan to be happy (infinite sadness my ass - a quote by Anakin)

Grim & Obi-Wan: 😭🫂✨

The reasons for these emojis is because Obi-Wan often comforts Grim and she does the same for him. The sparkles at the end are because Grim sees Obi-Wan as this beacon of light and as hope.

Grimsoka: 😳👩🏾‍❤️‍👩🏼💔

The reasons for these emojis are the fact that Grim gets easily flustered around Ahsoka especially early on. They're in a very loving and healthy relationship, but unfortunately they split up a lot, putting others above themselves.

Grim & Anakin: 😰🤬👥

Honestly their relationship is hard to sum up in 3 emojis because of how complicated it is but I did my best? Grim is often afraid of Anakin because she knows his future, and is scared of the man he'll become. The two of them argue a lot. There's a couple of fights between them even before Revenge Of The Sith. And yet despite all of this Grim can't help but see Anakin as her older brother, and although he knows Grim is keeping things from him, and is sometimes confused and he gets angry with her, Anakin still sees Grim as a little sister.

I mean all of these relationships evolve and change after Order 66 especially Grim & Anakin's but I'm focusing on The Clone Wars for now. Thanks for asking!

💘 A fic you couldn't stop reading once you started

Ooh parks & recreation by @theseptemberist! I think this was the first modern obikin au I'd ever read and I devoured it in a single sitting. I am obsessed with charming poet Obi-Wan and grumpy adorable ranger Anakin 🥰 It completely sold me on modern AUs as a concept! It perfectly captures that Obi-Wan and Anakin are still The Team, they've just been relocated!

✨ A fic you wish you could read again for the first time

Hmm I will say if i only knew by wanderlove. It absolutely has reread value (I'm rereading it now!) but it was one of the first obikin fics I ever read and it drew me in so completely. All those moments where Obi-Wan and Anakin make different decisions and how it changes the galaxy around them? Magnificent. All I want is for them to be happy and it delivers 😭

Of course. My fave, I'd say, it would be a tie (lol) between The Phantom Menace and The Empire Strikes Back. The first is because it holds a very special place in my heart because of how I saw it the first time (and the 345663213 times after), how my friends and I, we rushed out of school at lunch each saturday of every weeks to grab a burger and a ticket, and sit in the theatre, and then…

We knew the film by heart at some point! But it was the whole point, actually. It was magical for us…✨

As for The Empire Strikes Back, it taught me an important storytelling lesson as a child: that your heroes don't always have the upper hand, sometimes the bad guys are on top of things and put up a real challenge to the main characters, even if they still win at the end of the story.

My least fave though would sadly be Attack of the Clones… while there are some of my favourite characters and moments in it. 🤔

I better be allowed to name Mandos! Because, obviously, my fave character is Canderous. But I also like Din very much.

Which character is my least fave is a little less easy, though… I could say Jar-Jar, but I don't hate him all that much. He's just an annoying character to me. Characters I don't like usually are from media I don't like and steer clear from, so… I couldn't really say. But from those I like or even love?! Now, I have food for thoughts.

Fave planet would be Dantooine and Naboo. I kinda like Corellia (don't say that to Ela) and Onderon (from KotOR, please…) too.

And least fave planet… Hoth. I love the cold and snowy landscapes and all but, it looks like too much there! I like the taun taun, though… I could add Telos post bombing too.

But Canderous said they were a breed appart!!!! 😲 So, clones then? 🤡… Ok, ok! I can't choose just one fave, anyway. I love Mon Calamari and Nautolan. Even Quarrens! And Bothans. And I know Kal and my babies the clones would hate me for it but… Kaminoans! 😅

Least fave, I'm sorry but Aqualish and Bith are making my skin crawl. They always did! I never watched the cantina scene as a child. Jabba is just disgusting (as a person, lol) but the Bith…?! I'm sorry, I can't. (Same goes with the Ood in Doctor Who, btw.)

Fave ships!!! I love the LAAT/i the larty the GAR/clones gunships! 😭 And the Razor Crest definitely grew on me after a while and a few snickers. I have a few classes of freighters I like too. Like a certain Lantilian short hauler. And I know someone who's very proud of his newly acquired Gozanti… and I can understand why.

Least fave ships… Honestly, it may surprise you because how much I speak about them in Lost and Found, but I never liked the TIE fighters all that much.

But my real two least faves are the weird Jedi starship Obi-Wan is piloting in AotC, because of that dubious hyperdrive ring and how claustrophobic it looks, even compared to TIEs ans X-wings. And — unpopular opinion — Jango's Slave I. The way that thing takes off and fly like it's standing up… It hurts something in a corner of my mind, I can't explain! 🤣

Mando checking the Crest's vicinity on Arvala (the use of silences and calm ambient in this season!!!!!! 😭💖✨) Mando against the mudhorn (and almost all of episode 2, actually), Mando rampaging the safehouse to snatch the kid back + the whole scene with Pershing of course, Cara yelling 'Weapons ready!' in episode 4, Peli caring for the child and shoving Mando aside after he shot Toro, Din fist fighting Gideon's TIE… 🤣 Ok, sorry, I also like a lot of scenes in other medias of course! Shmi and Anakin saying goodbye brings tears to my eyes, when Leia hears Luke throught the Force the first time, Luke coming to 'negotiate' to Jabba's palace and when Vader yeets Palps down the shaft… Vader asking Luke to take his mask off too, and the pyre scene while everybody is celebrating. 😭💔

Also, in OG Clone Wars, Fordo and his brothers wrecking Sep forces on Muunilinst in apparent silence like the badasses they are!!! And don't get me started on Republic Commando.

Least fave moment would be in Revenge of the Sith, the whole Mustafar light saber fights between Anakin and Obi-Wan. I always found it awkward and dragging… 😫 Yes, much more than the Utapau chase.

Least fave, I had to think a little longer about it. There are a lot of things the Jedi say that rubs me the wrong way, and the turbo-cringe way Anakin is flirting with Padmé… But I think it would be 'Unlimited Powaaaaah'!!! 🤣 Because it kills the gravitas for me and makes me burst into laughter!!

HELLO IT’S THE PROMPT-GIVER ANON FROM LAST WEEK

I’ve read the new installment how many times?? I love how Ani’s behaviour jumps around so wildly from so cocky and self-assured to do sweet and vulnerable and young - he is truly living up to the multitude of emotions and personas of that age. Poor Obi - he just wants time alone to think and sulk but than Anakin is out here harassing him with largely insincere apologies AND THEN his master makes him walk Ani back, poor guy just wants a moment of peace 😭 I’d be so intrigued to see the (silent) communication between Qui Gon and Obi Wan in the moments where Anakin couldn’t see the looks between them, or the words exchanged when he went out of the room - I wonder if his brother-padawan was feeling just as nervous and reluctant as he was, and if perhaps he received some comfort and words of guidance from their shared master 👀👀

ANYWAY CONGRATS ON WRITING AND FINISHING IT 🎉 was great, can’t wait for more! 💕 (off to reread some more of your work hehe)

I don’t know how to put this, but I’d be a horrible Jedi, not because I wouldn’t be good with a saber or good at the Jedi things but no I’d fall sooo in love.

Like, I’d casually be in the temple and heckin Obi Wan Kenobi would walk past me and I’d get a smell of his perfume,,, The way he’d walk, his lightsaber hanging from his waist and his hair! Every damn thing about him would have me fainting and my beloved friends Anakin and Ahsoka would have to pick my ass up because of the Master Obi Wan Kenobi. 😩

I can just imagine obi wan waltzing down the jedi temple halls one afternoon, his loving eyes glancing for a moment your way, his smile filling your heart with tenderness & warmth

it pains him that he can't freely express the way he feels about you, but if any hint of the force were to be on his side, then perhaps you might have felt it there with him all along
