2023 Rules

General Rules

All author, artist, and team check-ins are obligatory, unless otherwise specified. These check-ins are necessary in making sure that everything runs smoothly through the event so that it’s enjoyable for everyone. 

No participants may offer services in exchange for payment or solicit donations/tips from other participants. If you do, you will be disqualified and unable to enter the event again.

Please be respectful of everyone involved. Please communicate openly and clearly with your teammates. If there is an issue, please contact the mods as soon as possible so we can try to find a solution together.

If you’re not having fun, please let us know. Bangs are stressful events, but they’re supposed to be enjoyable and fun. Let us know what pain points you’re experiencing and we’ll see if there is something we can assist with.

Writer Rules

All stories must focus or revolve around Captain Rex, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and their relationship. That relationship may be platonic, queer platonic, or romantic, but it must be the focus of the story.

All stories must be completed by the due date period.

Stories must not be posted before the due date! 

Stories can be co-written.

There should be a reasonable amount of secrecy around your project until artist matches are made to allow fairness for writer-artist match-ups. Please refrain from posting snippets during Six Sentence Sundays, until allowed during the promo period. 

All submissions to the Bang should be new works. Any unposted fic that conforms to the rest of the rules qualifies for this Bang. Prequels/sequels to works are allowed.

WIPs: If you would like to continue working on a WIP, please confirm BOTH these are true: (a) less than 2k words have been posted on Tumblr, AO3, wherever; (b) no further updates will be made publicly until your posting/promo date and the entire work must be posted in its completed form.

Drafts must be submitted as a .doc or a Google link provided (so word count can be verified).

Writers must tag/warn for any of AO3’s major archive warnings, including major character death (MCD), non-con, underage, and graphic violence. You may not withhold major or potentially triggering tags (for “spoilers”) during Art Claims.

Fanworker/Fanwork Rules

Fanworkers can sign up as both artist and writer! (You cannot claim your own work.)

The minimum amount of fanworks per story is 1 piece. If you are a fanworker and choose to claim 3 stories, that means you will need to create 1 fanwork for each story, 3 total.

Fanworkers can claim as many stories as they believe they can handle. Please do not overburden yourselves! We love you and treasure you and do not want to encourage burnout. Please only take on as many stories as you believe you can handle.

Fanworks cannot be published on Tumblr, AO3, etc prior to posting date! We encourage you to share sketches and works in progress on the Bang discord but we would very much like for you to keep the surprise under-wraps.

Fanworks that are accepted (but not limited!) are: traditional art, digital art, manips, banners, icons, wallpaper, gif sets / picspam, vids, podfics, and fanmixes.

Art can be embedded (by the writer) or posted separately by the artist. Please decide amongst each team how each team would like to operate.
