#not trying to rain on anyone’s parade
I don’t know why, but I’m becoming very against actors in BL pairing up multiple times, and specifically against this in gmmtv actors and shows (not for like sequels but for new things). Before I loved seeing the same actors playing new dynamics (not just in BL).
And I still think that’s fun. But maybe the more I know about the BL industry, I just feel like it’s intentionally fanning the flames of obsessed (in a bad way) fans who think these actors are dating. Not to say that that would be impossible. People who work together do sometimes date. But certainly not every onscreen couple is dating off screen. And I don’t like the idea of the actors having to pretend or not have to hide if they are dating someone else. And it just seems insidious that management companies stop actors from dating whoever they want, at least in public, but want fans to think they’re dating their coworker. And that’s totally fine if you want to ship real people or if you wonder if or think they are dating irl. That’s not just a BL thing. That’s basically all of celebrity. As long as you’re not trying tear down real people for not believing the same or harassing the actors if they show that they aren’t dating the person you want them to or making it weird for the actors.
And not to completely change my line of thinking, but maybe I’m just greedy for new on screen pairs? I don’t know. I just know that I wasn’t planning to watch Moonlight Chicken because I’ve learned that I can’t handle stories that mostly revolve around cheating. But the idea of that show throwing First and Khao’s characters together because they were a couple in The Eclipse and have another upcoming project together irks me. I just really don’t like the idea of First’s character getting cheated on and then throwing him with the character who’s in love with someone else. That just feels like a betrayal of their hurt. (Check me making up this whole story based on the pilot trailer from like a year ago 👀 oops. I haven’t even seen the official trailer). Anyway. They should throw everyone for a loop and have Mix’s and First’s characters reconcile and stay together. Or give First and Mix a show. And for the love of God, when will Khao and Earth get to play a couple? And not to be hypocritical within a single post, but I would also would love Earth and White to have another show together 🥺 Or have a spin off of Theory of Love. (And for that matter, when will White get to be the main character again?) Maybe I just like time between when actors work together. Then it feels like a bonus reunion instead of like, these two can only work together now. Would also love Neo and Phuwin to play a couple again (or a spin off for their characters in Cause You’re My Boy).
Or maybe it’s because I’m quickly becoming more of a multishipper. Like that flowers for whatever show. Not BL and I didn’t watch because of the love triangles, but through tumblr osmosis I liked Dew and Tu in that and wish they had their own show now (their beverage commercial mini show notwithstanding). Also Nanon and Jimmy would be great. Or Jimmy and Ohm. Or the actors who played the two guys who hated each other in Enchanté that i thought were in love. Or Jimmy and Drake. Or Nanon and Chimon. Chimon and Phuwin. Perth and Pond? Or maybe I just subconsciously like to be mad about ships. I don’t know. Would love to see Gun with Mond (although did he leave gmmtv? I didn’t see any new shows for him. Doesn’t matter. I still want it). Not gmmtv, but also Apo and Bible anyone? Oh, another hypocrite moment, but Tong with his costar from Second Chance the Series (I think his name is Fluke). That’s mostly because that show was so short and I want more. Or the bully in that show that’s now a bully in Never Let Me Go and the guy he bullied. I think they could play an on screen couple well. Anyway. The possibilities are endless, so why limit ourselves, is what I’m saying. Unless I personally want those actors to work together again. Then let’s go ahead and limit ourselves. It’s okay.
Also, I’m over here like, hmm I just don’t want to ship real people. While at the same time going, I hope these people are actually friends irl and chat sometimes and also maybe do a BL together 😂😂😂

Why do all the american races have to be a spectacle?
Can't speak for the other two 🇺🇸🦅 races but I think we're all approaching the Las Vegas GP with the wrong mentality.
It's not a race weekend. It's a 3-day long Las Vegas show, with a side of racing.

Never in a million years could I have imagined this guy being cast as Murderbot.
Tumblr media
Apologies to all fans of the actor, I'm sure he's very talented, however I have smashed the nearest window and escaped into the night.

I’m gonna say something that’s probably not going to be well received in certain circles so let me start by saying this: I believe, with only a few rare exceptions, that you should be able to ship whatever speaks to you the most. And just because I don’t ship something doesn’t mean it’s wrong for anyone else to ship it, and the same for things I do ship, no one else has to ship it too. Who you do or don’t ship will never be a reason I pass judgment on you, ever. Live your best life.
That being said, I want to talk about Horikoshi and straight ships.
(And bakudeku.)
Here’s the thing: Hori has written straight ships into MHA and he’s done it so masterfully that it’s made me ship them without even realizing it. I don’t know if we can call them canon because as far as I know no ship is actually canon yet, but what is canon is the care Hori put into building these relationships.
Kirimina. Hori wrote in a backstory that parallels bkdk that I just adore. There is something about Kiri looking up to Mina and being so inspired by her bravery that it shapes the hero he becomes that is such good content. They’ve had multiple mid-battle moments of protecting and helping each other. I ship Kirimina so hard because of the canon Hori gave us.
I am a low key Denki/Hitoshi shipper but season six kinda hit me in the face with whatever we’re calling Kyouka/Denki these days and now I guess I’m a multi-shipper???? That is how hard Hori hit me with the Kyouka/Denki feels. And he did it the same way as Kirimina, because we have years of content of Kyouka teasing Denki mercilessly, plus the cultural festival band, so when they’re separated in Season 6 and Denki has this intense moment of realization that she’s who he needs to be brave for and it actually works??? I’m a goner.
Heck, I ship todomomo too you guys though I can’t blame Hori for that one, that’s just me being me. The point is that I ship it because the characters Hori gave me struck a chord inside.
But there is one straight ship Hori never once made me ship.
Every time izu*cha showed up I just kinda endured it? It just wasn’t for me. I didn’t see two kids with chemistry, I saw two kids who didn’t know who they were or what they wanted fumbling their way through a will they/won’t they without either of them seeming all that invested in it.
In six seasons and nearly 400 chapters and multiple times revisiting the story I have never once felt any inclination to ship izu*cha
Hori can write straight ships. Hori made me ship his secondary straight ships nearly effortlessly. So if izu*cha was meant to be canon why have I never once felt the chemistry?
You know who has the chemistry? Bakudeku. But here’s the thing: I wasn’t thinking about Katsuki as a possible love interest for Izuku the first time I watched the entire story. I honestly wasn’t paying much attention to him at all, he was everything I didn’t like on the surface so I more or less ignored him despite Izuku holding onto him for dear life. Katsuki never once colored my opinion of izu*cha, they did that all on their own.
It wasn’t until after my first watch through, when I was hungry for more and trolling around tumblr, that I realized people shipped Katsuki and Izuku and it was literally like something out of alignment popped into place in my head.
Oh. Duh. That’s the ship.
I went from zero to a million in a handful of seconds because the chemistry was there, the backstory was there, and boy are Izuku and Katsuki loud about how obsessed they are with each other. Just like Kirimina, just like Denki and Kyouka, Hori planted the seeds throughout the entire series so that when it was brought to my attention everything about the narrative and character development supported it.
And I have to take a moment to explain my dislike of Katsuki at first: I honestly fell for the surface-level interpretation of his character and then kinda wrote him off without much more thought. Which is insane to think about because you can’t really understand MHA without Katsuki, he is so integral to the story as a whole that any version of it without him is skewed so far out of alignment that it’s not even the same story anymore. But I just saw angry boy who yells for no reason and put Katsuki in a box and left it at that.
It wasn’t until I was willing to give his character a second look that I started understanding him, and more importantly, his relationship with Izuku. And it helped that when bkdk was presented to me as a ship that my brain understood immediately why it worked. The canon source material supports bkdk at every possible moment.
I really don’t think it does the same for izu*cha.

I don’t even have a phobia of needles but was I the only one actually horrified by this episode? The implied gore, the torture (and having to hear the victim beg for help), the horror movie serial killer vibes? This was pretty intense for episode 6, TMA didn’t escalate like this until season 5. I do not for one stan Needles but y’all have fun I guess

would it be insane for me to say people only like prime shadow because he has a more heroic role despite having the same characteristics they dislike in his other depictions... would it be insane to say shadow feels kind of mellowed down as a result.... like hes not allowed to completely embody his character because he also has to play substitute to sonic's heroic presence because the sonic we have can't totally deliver on that aspect. would it be insane for me to say its kinda like a domino effect where downplaying sonic inevitably leads to their dynamic shifting to accommodate this change which leads into having to downplay shadow as well. can i say that

Ok, it is almost 2024, and I'm just gonna say it:
The movie version of Howl's Moving Castle kinda sucks.
I just rewatched it for the first time in a long while, and I've finally confirmed that it isn't just that I've been in love with the book since long before the film existed. The plot of the film actually kinda sucks.
My argument for this is that describing the plot of the film is nearly impossible, because it's largely incoherent. The events don't hang together or follow from each other in any way that makes sense. There's just too much going on at once, character motivations aren't properly explained, and many events just seem to happen for no reason at all.
Why is Howl going out into the war zones? Why does he turn into a bird to do that? Why does Madame Suliman decide to end the war? Who is Makl (why did they leave his name that way in the English dub?) and where did he come from? Why did Howl make his bargain with Calcifer in the first place? Why is Sophie able to break Howl and Calcifer's bargain without killing Calcifer? Why does Howl have different personas in different places? Why would Howl, who spends every night flying around in a war zone, need Sophie to be in danger in order to summon up the courage to face Madame Suliman, and what was he trying to achieve by going to see her in the first place? Does using magic at all turn Howl into a monster, and if so, why?
There's just too many unanswered questions about everything that's going on, and too many scenes in the film that leave you going, "What, what?"
And why did Miyazaki feel the need to make the story this convoluted and weird? The original story is a pretty simple Beauty and the Beast retelling, and it's not like Miyazaki has any trouble telling simple, straightforward stories.
The whole thing is just kind of a mess, and I am no longer going to let it's popularity trick me into thinking that I'm just wrong.

I Hated The Nimona Movie and You All Will Hate Me After You Read This :D
ok im going to be real with all of you here. i could barely get through the nimona movie. i found it dull, uninteresting, and infuriating (and this is just gonna be me rageposting about it so buckle up guys :D im not that passionate about it but i saw a post that got me in a Mood so)
HERE ARE SOME REASONS WHY:
starting with the most subjective and trivial part, i hate the art. it makes me wanna froth at the mouth and die. the big eyes? HATE em. comic art better 100%
second and last petty thing ambrosius' hair . what did they do to you babygirl. like actually whose idea was it to take away his glorius luscious locks in favor of the Stereotypical Animated Movie f*g haircut like seriously>>>?????
but the biggest thing that im upset about is ballister and ambrosius' relationship. WHERE IS THE FUCKING BANTER? WHERE ARE THE SCENES WHERE THEY BEAT EACH OTHER UP? in the comic, they were interesting, they were dark, they were fucked up, and all of that was sacrificed so that they could be "canon" and kiss one time onscreen at the end!!! to be honest i would rather have an interesting and compelling gay relationship left to subtext than a flat, boring, and disinteresting gay relationship that is canon. my opinion but im right so.
AMBROSIUS IN GENERAL? he's just? not even a character? they turned him from a complex and interesting character full of flaws – i mean he was pompous, full of himself, elitist, you name it! he was dumb as rocks! and he was real! in the movie he's just a bland bowl of slop whose only purpose is to feel regret !!!! in the movie he's this everyman good guy, and in the comic – i mean. the whole thing with the comic is that ambrosius, despite caring deeply for ballister, is sort of the bad guy!!! he shot ballister's arm off NOT because he was "disarming a weapon" but because HE LOST A CONTEST. just because he's a Fucked Up interesting dude.
The setting also fucked me up – by setting the story directly after ballister becomes a villain, the movie takes away a lot of the key elements of ballister's character. they took away his deep-rooted anger with ambrosius, with the institution, they took away his villainous principles and competency, and they TOOK AWAY HIS GODDAMN LOVE OF SCIENCE FOR THE LOVE OF FUCK!! JUST TO MAKE HIM INTO THE EMBODIMENT OF THE PLEADING FACE EMOJI WITH ZERO AGENCY IN HIS OWN GODDAMN STORY!
that's just to name a few. the movie was fine, but it was bland, and even though ND worked very closely with the team, i felt it wasn't faithful in the right ways. but hey, two men kiss onscreen and they painfully spell out the trans allegory to the point of nausea, so it HAS to be good, right?

I think D&D is good and fun but it bugs me a little bit how people sometimes seem to generalize D&D rules and aesthetics and archetypes across the fantasy genre in general. Like that's just one thing. stop saying all of fantasy when you just mean D&D-adjacent.

did the deleted scene with valkyrie and kamala move you towards being a valcarol shipper?
Tumblr media
I mean... she was annoyed because she thought Carol got married without telling her again, and her irritation was with not being invited to the wedding as opposed to the wedding itself. So yeah, if anything, that more firmly puts them in the friends (who probably used to date) category for me, not current lovers.
Tumblr media
That being said, I am intrigued by their friendship. I'd like to see that play out onscreen. And the strap on joke... hilarious. How it even made it to the deleted scenes is a miracle.
