BUT yay!! Im not really friends with skz fans (or i am but I just don't know it nor am I deep in the community anywhere so I'm happy I can share this with ya! But ahh I agree! I mean I understand why it might be uncomfy which is valid but I also think it is ok to watch old content. I mean I think the same way with monsta x like it hurts not to see wonho but I STILL enjoy their old stuff because it is entertaining (yes two different scenarios but I hope you know what I mean) and the first finding skz is so fun!! Alot of the scenes in the show I have seen in like, youtube compilations of funny moments fans should know and I was confused where some of them were from bUt as I watched finding skz I was like "omg I know this now!" Like I always saw the moment of hyunjin wearing those poor slippers in the first episode in many compilations so now I know where it came from (but also poor hyunjin like I was wheezing but I felt bad for him) or like the final episode they are just chaotic lol like their trainee back stories im like what? XD han eating ice cream in his sleep? Thats hilarious but cute also. The Australia is very much wholesome, I was just smiling the entire time. Both chan and felix planning was thoughtful and the fact they shared it with the members makes me feel so warm inside. I can make an entire essay on this episode alone but I won't, I don't think it would send my ask lolol. So yes I agree it is fun watching groups grow and you go back to watch how they started and see them now. They changed but also haven't if that makes sense? (Omg when his hair is fluffy while being blonde!? Jdjajsjjs just yesss. Idk why but it reminds me of an elf? Like blonde fluffy chan is an elf confirmed)

But oohhh that's so interesting to know! I am now going to try to find other end of the year performances they remixed hehe which if I may ask since you are the resident skz president, which is your favorite remix stage they did? Love our self producing beans, very much yes to the svt x skz similarities! Its why I think for me, it was so easy to get into skz (outside of their music of course) due to their dynamic is very much like svt. Plus some ARE friends with each other (minho and seungkwan or vernon and chan are friends!)

HI!, sorry i was so tired yesterday i didnt have the brain power to answer this and i wanted to make sure I could l. Im s excited for Woozi's solo i feel like his is THE one i've been waiting for since i got into svt because its Woozi arfsgfda

I also agree its a tricky position to become a fan of a group after a member has left, no matter what the circumstances are (skz being v different from mx but i totally understand what you meant) I know when I get into groups i also watch a billion compilations of things and its always so exciting to see where they're from when you start to really dive deep. skz i think also has a lot of moments in their content that somehow doesnt make it into comps a lot even though I think theyre some of their funnier moments so it really is satisfying to go deep diving for them in particular.

Let's see if i can remember some of their changed stage mixes lol

Theres this Side effects | I am You (ballad Version) | Victory Song | and obviously all their kingdom performances were super changed versions of songs. Also all of their end of the year performances in 2020 of gods menu had different mixes and dance breaks (poor Chris so much remixing of that song lmao) my favorite is the I am you from this concert (it's at 1:15:10) also heres the second half if you just wanna see the whole concert lol

I know that Minho and Seungkwan are definitely friends, and that all of svt definitely know skz. most recently in Jenghan's live he talked about Minho accidentally starting a live from the skz staff account asfgd and Chris has said multiple times that svt is a group that really takes care of skz which obviously makes me wanna scream and cry :D

MORE UPDATES ON THINGS WHAT HAPPEN

The half week milestone of the hospital house thingie time! I think the term they use for it is "a residential stay"? Cos like its not a hospital its a shared housing block thats just full of doctors. I get to sleep in a real bed and there's a nice community room and board game nights and stuff. But its still really scary how intense the supervision can be! Like they have a window to look into your room once per hour every hour constantly. And they have to go through your undies and catalog them as part of the possessions check. I was not warned about that and it was mega embarassing trying to explain a binder to a bunch of old lady doctors! Oh and i had yo do a urine test today which was possibly the most fuckin embarassing thing in the actual universe. And you're not even allowed to take your own pills! They keep them locked in a big ominous wall of lockers and you have to come into the office and swallow the pill while theyre watching. I guess maybe because some people might be faking their illness and selling their pills on the black market or whatever? But that literally doesnt happen with antidepressants, they have no 'high' or even any effect at all on non-sick people. So it just makes no sense to me and its real embarassing cos like i said i suck at taking pills with plain water and without a straw. The ones i take are real damn chunky things the size of my thumbnail! I think i'l get better at not (literally) choking under pressure over time, tho. Hopefully.

Anyway that's all the bad out of the way! Now the good and the neutral and the just miscellaneous!

Its still nervewracking having to shower in a shared house but they have a cool walk-in shower and ive never tried one of those so it was vaguely interesting. And im allowed to take my showers early at 6am to minimize the chance of anyone else trying to use the door, lol. My biggest fear is having some staff member walk in on me when im naked like back in that homeless hostel. Oh or that time in the homeless hostel where the teenage boys filled the entire bathroom with inflated condoms wall to wall. Like wow so much damn effort to prank the stupid nervous bunni who probably would have been embarassed by literally anything else. Man this place is bringing so many memories of that homeless hostel but at least this time its a place specifically for sick people and they know i'm anxious doing shared cooking and board games and whatever so they dont make fun of me for it. But in a lot of ways that hostel had more freedoms too.. *shrug*

Anyway! A good! I get to have cooking lesson!! I know literally nothing about cooking and now i get to know several thing!! This nice doctor called Josie taught me how to make an omelette and i tasted ham for the first time! That is just how limited my life experiences are, lol. Oh and they want me to say that she's a 'mental health worker' not a doctor, but its all real confusing?? Like they have the staff that look after you and then the only ones we're supposed to call doctors are the ones who actually have the authority to prescribe pills and diagnosies. But like if youre in a hospital you'd call them all doctors, not just the actual surgeon? Or i guess theyre kinda like nursing home staff?? But they cant be support workers cos support workers are specific government assigned inspector type guys like Richard who only meet with you once a week.and i have to remember to not call him a social worker either cos social workers only work with family and custody related stuff. I dunno?? Basically the medical industry has a lot of names that dont really describe what the actual thing is, lol. Anyway the ham omelette was great and now im gonna try and remember so i can try and make it myself next time! HAM ACCOMPLISHED

Also i played bingo with a few other patients and it was fun but funny that i lost 6 times in a row when there were only 3 of us. I got a consolation prize of a pack of neon highlighter pens so hell yeah!!

I'm getting booked in to try some additional classes starting next week on monday and tuesday morning. The computer programming one was sadly unavailable, but i managed tp snag a place in "confidence building group therapy" and "basic how to use power tools". I wasnt really all that interested in that one but i thought it would be a useful skill even if its less fun. And maybe you get to actyally make something to take home at the end? A lil shelf to help organize this awkward lil room better, maybe?

And an unexpected bonus of being semi-hospitalized is that i get a free bus pass! And cos im here cos of my social anxiety theyre gonna help me get outside more and actually use this thing to the fullest! The first thing we did was the trip to actually get the bus pass itself. It was like "bus, take my money to take me to the place where i can never give you money again!" XD Ive been really stupidly nervous about going on tne bus in my old neighbourhood cos MAN it was really isolated there and everything just amplified my mental illness. An almost two hour bus ride to get to ANY SHOPS AT ALL, with only one bus for the whole town so it was always crowded and full of screaming kids and gossipy everyones. Social anxiety: maximum level proud mode!

So yeah i feel BIG ACCONPLISHED! I was able to take this bus for the first time with a doctor coming with me. Power Grandpa The Strong. His actual name is Paul and he has awesome sleeve tattoos of like anchors and dragons and sports teams and stuff! And he likes thrift stores and wearing silly hats too! Its like he's powerful enough to wrestle away everyone's anxieties! I was able to be a bit reckless too and i went out wearing my fave shirt thats like trans pride coloured plaid. A POWERFUL SHIRT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS QUEST! so we went to the office to register this bus pass and i panicked a bit cos apparantky we brought the wrong form and i wrote my name in the wrong box and then my passport photo looked terrible and aaa! But it all worked out and i was kinda freaking out for nothing. And he took me for a lil tour of the place and showed me this cool shop that does spray paint tye dye t shirts with spiderman on them?? Why does this incredibly specific shop exist and how have i never heard of it before?? There was also a new harry potter shop next to the disney shop, and the old used book store i used to visit as a kid was still there, complete with rickety spiral staircase and ominous basement trap door. I'm still not brave enough to go down there, but apparantly its just the history books section so meh. Then we actually went to a fancy coffee shop and i had this brain freeze mango ice frappucchino thing! Im trying all the new foods!!

And i was TOO HIGH ON DECADENCE and made a RECKLESS CHOICE! i blame power gramp's amazing tattoos, they were totally whispering to me that i shoukd screw the rules and ride off into the sunset on a metaphorical harley davidsen of mental health

So i was like Hey Paul I Am Totally Fine Getting Home On My Own, and it was like i was floating off in the distance somewhere begging my body to not speaketh these words. But it ended up working out okay! The excitement of it all and the sense of accomplishmebt from getting there all okay allowed me to mostly not freak out as i spent the day in town and looked at some shops and stuff. Basic Living Skills: Completed! I chilled out in the library (tho i dont have a card yet, alas!) and visited like five comic and anime stores, and got lost but found a Pizza Hut and that was SO NOSTALGIC FOR MY CHILDHOOD and it didnt taste quite as good as i remembered but the waiter guy was super nice and had a similar shirt and it was All Good! Oh and i gave all my money to a homeless person and that's why i'm broke now. And i bought a plastic slug! I just saw it from across the room and was like OH NO I AM BEING MAGNETISED TOWARDS IT OH NO IT HAS ALREADY BEEN BOUGHT. I need to think of a name for this new friend!!

So yeh i got home okay and i felt really acconplished and that was the furthest trip away that i've taken in ages! Man my mental illness makes me feel pathetic, but it also brings ridiculously big joys from the smallest of silly acconplishys!

Oh and thank you so much to the people who sent me emails! It really helped so much to keep me from giving up during the first few days before i made a bit of progress and felt like i could really do this, yknow? Especially big thanks tp the friend who sent me that mysterious super happy song that they found on a mystery disc in a german market?? Im still not sure whether its in greek or hasidic jewish but it sounds AMAZING and i hope someday i can figure out the band so i can hear their other singles!

I like think I'm good with English but the struggle of being bilingual and your brain just likes to give you a blue screen error and you sit there wondering what the word is in either language lol (I have respect for people that know like 4!) But yeppers, welcome to my family where we do things slightly last minute and then there is chaos in the kitchen xD 10/10 fun times

Right!? Like I remember he was like this small lil bean that was like a puppy, wouldn't hurt a fly and then suddenly he just had a pokemon evolution moment going from charmander to charzard in like God knows when lolol of course im not saying thats a bad thing, I just find the character development so funny, like it happened right under our noses and honestly good for him! i wish i still had it in me to learn a second language not gonna lie hskfhks i remember the basics of spanish from 3 years of classes but like.. i wish i could pick it up and learn more but idk it's harder for me now not to mention the very, very little and basic korean i taught myself LMAO so the fact u can speak two languages is awesome ! and it seems to me ur english is rlly rlly good, honestly would've assumed it was ur first language if u hadnt said anything bc of how good it is

Rockman.EXE Episode 12 Review.

Roll... Charm? Nah.

Crash or Clash? Im so confused.

We start this episode with Yaito and Meiru at the N-1′s gift shop. You know, since shopping is something girls do.

Meiru-chan tries out a hat only to have it taken from her by Iroaya Madoi.

Because she felt like bothering some kids today.

After insulting Yaito’s shiny big forehead she proceeds to insult Meiru.

The insult was better in the dub.

She finally reveals to be Meiru and Roll’s next opponent and the title card appears.

Midorikawa begins to announce the next two matches, starting with Netto vs Hinouken in the main dome, though she sounds more excited about the match in the B-dome which will be Madoi vs Meiru, the first “Girl vs Girl” battle.

Too bad only ONE of their Navis is actually a girl!

Did she called Madoi old? Also, whats with the poses? Was Madoi fixing her hair before her picture? And Hinouken is like, “Yeap, thats me, I am a fire god”. BTW his real name is Kenichi, turns out Hinouken is a nickname.

After this we cut to Meiru-chan and friends in the locker room, where all the guys are keeping their distance.

This girl is on fire!

As you can guess, Madoi has her compleatly burning with rage, or is it a firery aura as Higure-san says?

Whatever it is, it engulfs Yaito as well when Meiru promises to defeat Madoi using the chips she gave her.

If anything, Tohru should be the head of the Madoi hate club since she kidnapped his father, and are we also forgeting that she is part of the World Three?

Netto doesnt understand why both Yaito and Meiru are so angry at Madoi, (World Three, Netto!) so he asks them what happend, while they’re still burning.

And we get a scene where they are standing face to face with Madoi and the hat from the gift shop flying in the background.

Who paid for the hat anyway?

She is like twelve, of course she has small breasts!

But Meiru-chan fights back and unintentionally calls her old because she said “Obasan” which ticks off Madoi.

She never said “Old hag”, she called her madame, ma’m or old lady XD

Also, 23?! Not with that makeup as Yaito and Meiru tell her before calling her old again. Intentionally this time.

We then get a dramatic scene with the two of them insulting eachother.

It is ON!!!

After that “flashback”, we cut to the cyberworld where Glyde and Roll are talking about how rude Madoi was to both their operators.

Quick, Rockman! Say yes! Say YES!

Saved...

Netto says goodbye to everyone since they will be go cheer for Meiru-chan at her match. Followed by Yaito asking what happend to Masa-san, who was apparently there earlier. I like the way Higure-san starts searching for him.

Netto is runnig down the hall on his way to his match but is stopped by a monitor on the wall about another record being broken.

Yeap! Sharkman, the Navi Rockman met back in episode 5. Turns out he is the Navi of the strange man we saw with Miyuki and Saloma before, who is totally not Masa-san, even though he tells everyone to eat more Calcium.

So thats his theme? Ok.

Netto starts getting excited over this and Miyuki appears next to him saying that the commander is exagerating his “rank”. This, of course, makes Netto ask her if she knows him, and she denies it in such a rookie way.

Come on, Miyuki, you can do better than that.

She leaves and Netto continues his way to the match, and we see Mahajarama coming through the wall just to say something ominous about his battle with Hinouken.

How does he do that? O.O

In the next scene Netto and Rockman’s battle begins, with Hinouken looking suspiciously confident. Once the battle begins, Rockman dashes at Fireman using the same attack and animation he used against Gutsman back in the first episode.

I call it, the “Rock n Rumble”!

As the battle continues, Midorikawa announces that the battle in the B-dome is about to begin. So we cut to Roll in a redish canyon arena where Coloredman attacks her by surprise.

Roll starts her attack with her Heart Flash move, but Coloredman is able to catch them and... Eats them?

So Roll throws candy hearts?

Coloredman throws his ball at her, she dodges and this happens.

He’s lying of course, Coloredman’s ball comes rolling back at Roll giving her TIME to dodge! Seriously, this is how the scene goes.

“Why didn’t you tell me to dodge?!”

Meiru, you had plenty of time to use a battle chip! Who is the operator here?!

This was to create drama before cutting to comertials, and we return with Roll on the ground and Meiru nagging Madoi who is just powdering her face.

Shouldn’t you be helping your Navi?

Madoi just starts mocking her which also angers her friends on the stands where Masa-san takes the oportunity to re-join them.

Told you this was gonna be a thing.

The crowd suddently starts going wild, everyone begins to cheer for someone, starting with this kid who looks like Netto.

Madoi is confused about this until she finally pays attention to the battle.

No wonder they’re going crazy, this is awsome! XD

This results in Coloredman throwing his ball upwards squashing him in a comidic way.

Coloredman gets angry and brings out his mini mes!

But Roll-chan has a new trick up her glove, she throws her hearts at the mini Coloredmen making them fall in love with her, and she then orders them to attack him.

After this, Coloredman literally knocks some sense into them and they then proceed to chase Roll, running her over.

Or should I say, “Roll” her over? XD

We cut to the spectator stands where we focus on Miyuki and Saloma, not only because the light focuses on them, but because they are the only ones who are not brunnetts.

They’re talking about how they can’t arrest Madoi, even knowing she is a World Three member, because Net criminals can only be arrested over the Net. Which is kinda dumb considering how she held someone hostage in episode 6.

Anyway, its funny how Miyuki says this last line only to follow it with this scene.

Midorikawa tells the audience the progress of the battle in the sub dome, as we cut to Rockman’s battle.

Fireman attacks, Rockman dodges it and lands like this for some reason.

Talk about light on your feet.

In the battle we see that they are evenly matched as they both get pushed back by the others shots.

Netto realizes that Fireman is even stronger than before, and Hinouken confirms his thoughts by telling him that they have train exhaustively ever since they lost the second time, (although it really wasnt Rockman who beat him)

You already had an episode about that, remember? And you failed!

After that, we cut back to Roll-chan who has finally read the mini Coloredmen attack pattern.

Meiru brags about it to Madoi, but she decides to play dirty by blinding Meiru with the Sun’s reflexion on her powder box mirror.

Meiru’s reaction distracts Roll who is attacked from behind by the mini Coloredmen.

With Meiru incapable of doing anything (even less than before), Coloredman takes advantage of the situation and decides to get ready to delete Roll with the Aqua and Flame Towers.

However, Yaito wont allow this to happend and runs down the stairs to where Meiru is to cheer her on. Madoi gets annoyed at this and decides to use her mirror on her too, which turns out be a bad idea.

Yaito, with your forehead so bright, wont you blind my sight tonight?

Yaito’s shiny forehead returns the reflexion to Madoi who falls backwards droping her PET in the process.

This has an effect on the mini Coloredmen who get damaged and blow up, leaving Coloredman confused. Meiru takes the opportunity to FINALLY use one of the chips Yaito gave her which so happends to be a rare chip.

Coloredman gets scared and counters with his ball, but the Triple Lance Battle Chip is too much for him and shoots through the ball hitting Coloredman afterwards, ending the battle.

After Meiru and friends celebrate her victory they decide to go cheer for Netto in his battle.

Speaking of the battle, we see that things are heating up, literally, as Fireman and Rockman are standing back to back, talking to eachother.

Netto slots-in the Elec Sword, Fireman uses a Fire sword and the episode ends with Hinouken saying something suspicious as he looks up at the sun.

My thoughts on this?

Is it just me, or is everytime a shonen anime tries to focus on the girl characters, it ends up being lame in comparison?

Dont get me wrong, I love Roll and the way she battles, but the match felt more like a filler than an actual battle. I know Coloredman isnt the strongest Navi in the World Three... but he is a World Three Navi! It’s like they dumbed him down so he could lose against Roll and Meiru’s rookie fighting style. Rockman delivers punches and kicks from time to time, but Roll just pulls hair and pinches faces. It was pretty fun to watch though.

The dub decided to make this a two part episode, but it is originally two diferent episodes, this being part one and the next episode as part two because it ended in a cliffhanger.

Speaking of the dub, I find it really confusing how they changed Yaito and Meiru explaining Netto about Madoi after he asks them, the dub just cuts over to the flashback without mentioning it as such, it just looked like something that happend later rather than earlier, which makes the hat flying at the begining not make any sense.

This episode was probably a reference to the first game where Roll tried to stop Coloredman from blowing up a bus.

Of course, she couldnt handle it and Rockman had to step in and save her, but Im not saying she did a better job here. Roll did good as always but her operator has no idea what she’s doing. Roll-chan did all the work and Meiru gets the praise because she send a rare chip at the very end, that was literally her only job!

In the dub, a lot of dialogue was added where there wasnt, like in the part where Roll is about to get hit by Coloredman’s ball, the dub had her saying that it was too late to avoid it, better than just standing there waiting for it to happend.

To be fair, an operator also directs the Navi, telling them where to go or what attacks to use sometimes, but Meiru still SUCKS! Its until Axess where she becomes a little more competent, so we still have an entire season to suffer through her dumb operation. All we can do for now is root for poor Roll-chan.

On Conveying Personality Through Chatroom-style Dialogue

A friend of mine shared screenshots of a roleplay he was having via a Discord server, wherein the style was chatroom/texting based. Each character would have a different style of typing completely unique to their person. Though unfamiliar with all of them, I could see what their personalities were like

Like real human beings, a character very much so has a “voice”. I mean that both in the literal sense, through their manner of speaking and what they say, but also through their self expression, interests, and actions. This carries over into the digital realm in ways we may not even notice. Text messages may not be verbal, no, but there are ways to show inflection.

There are many, many ways to show meaning through text. Here are some that I’ve picked up and utilized with my own characters:

Sentence structure

all lowercase sentences VS Grammatically correct

Lowercase gives off the feeling of someone familiar with others or willing to become familiar. It lacks the tension of formal writing, complete with its capitalization and proper periods ending sentences, and feels very casual and approachable. It may also be a sign of someone who doesn’t care much about perfection, a lazy person, or an easy going individual. Seems like a lot of internet regulars prefer this kind of typing style.

“im dying

‘deafening horrorcore rap’ ok i listen to literal noise and idk what this even is”

Using a properly capitalized and punctuated style is very formal, like one would see in a book, an official email, etc. It’s more serious and stern than lowercase is and may imply an older, more mature person typing...or maybe just someone trapped on their phone at the mercy of autocorrect.

"I am always happy to see you, even if you are not feeling your best.“

“It's nice here.

Quiet.”

There’s a certain respectful steadiness to it as well. It can be calming to read at times.

Punctuation VS Lack of punctuation

End-stopped lines come with both a pause and a bit of a pointed and direct feeling. It strengthens both lowercase and grammatically correct styles, but in different ways. In conjunction with “proper” writing, it’s less noticeable, merely giving the reader a moment’s pause. In conjunction with lowercase, especially if the one typing isn’t keen on using periods, it can come off as stern, serious, passive-aggressive, or angry.

Removal of punctuation is a different story. Typically just shown with lowercase, it leaves it with that casual feeling intact, or like one’s sentences are more like quick thoughts or questions. Removing them from grammatically correct sentences does ease off some of the tension, implying someone with a more neutral-positive tone while still being more mature.

“I’m not terribly good with conversation”

And then there’s the run-on sentences from those who type small novels per response. Usually complete with multiple and’s. It’s a sign of nervousness, enthusiasm, or oftentimes a younger character...

“actually i don't know much about it i just happened to see something online and it's apparently only manufactured overseas exclusively for this one particular shop and they made the original design and initial product i guess”

Oof.

Proper spelling (or lack thereof)

The better the spelling, the more the likelihood of the person being older, calmer, or neutral. There’s also a sense of being well educated or careful about one’s typing. Perhaps a confident air may exude from what they say, too.

“Can you come help me for a moment?”

Those who make a lot of mistakes will simply confuse words for other words, forget apostrophes, or type too fast to notice things missing or in the wrong location. Some just don’t really care enough or are too tired to deal with it. Too much focus and people know what they mean anyway. Probably.

It can also happen in very emotional situations, in bouts of laughter, crying, rage, or when one is drowsy, medicated, or sick. It tends to stand out when one’s style is suddenly very, very different and tips others off to something being wrong.

Younger characters, especially kids, also make spelling mistakes all the time depending on their age, whether due to sounding out words or just in a hurry to reply.

Short sentence fragments, single words, and lengthy paragraphs

Sometimes people with rapid-fire thoughts, who are excited, busy, stressed, or angry, will take to quick and short responses (sometimes of many fragments in a row). These show a similar feeling as do lines of poetry. Stacking small fragments on top of one another adds emphasis. The reader has to read them one by one rather than as a straight sentence. On its own, the word or fragment stands out and becomes more important.

I’ve seen it used used for storytelling from one person to another in larger chunks of things, quick responses, for poetic value, and in irritation or passive-aggressiveness.

In full sentence conversations sent in short bursts, it’s also allowing the reader pause to read each comment without it feeling like a novella. Though it can also feel like someone is obnoxious, rambling on and on as the notifications keep coming, or has a lot to talk about and keeps thinking of more.

Then there are those who type rather large responses all at once instead of hitting the enter key with every sentence:

"Whoever did it was quite thorough; either the power in that area of the lab was cut while we were distracted or they tampered with the security cameras, because that footage is missing. But, we have some theories now. It had to have been someone with direct access to the laboratory. I hesitate to place blame on any of my coworkers...they're all my trusted companions and friends! And yet...”

It’s concise and a solid, complete story in one spot. Could be someone who loves to talk, could be someone who didn’t want a response before they were done talking. It’s also commonly seen by middle-aged texters who want to say everything they can all at once.

Exclamation points and Question marks

Simple one here. Question mark for a question or confusion, exclamation point for emphasis or an exclamation. But when a person adds multiple to a sentence it can convey more of the person’s feelings;

“are you okay??”

Here is someone who is very concerned. Multiple question marks can imply things such as worry, stress, disbelief, and shock. There’s a sense of hurry and tension. Perhaps the person on the other end is frightened, easily afraid, or tends to have an overwhelming reaction to things.

“oh!!! it’s nice to see you!!!”

!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Meanwhile, multiple exclamation points convey much more friendlier, happier tones. Often such things as surprise, excitement, happiness, friendliness. Users typing !! as a punctuation (like I tend to do) may do it as an assurance or to show how thrilled they are to talk. Occasionally !!!! is tacked onto an angry statement to be more of a shout, but I see it less and less.

Chatspeak and Internet habits

Shortenings of words have been a regular thing for ages. It’s easy, convenient, and gets the point across quickly. But the internet has taken it to a new extreme, where sentences can be almost entirely compromised of them.

“wtf r u talkin abt?? gdi man idk wuts even happening rn”

A character wanting to be quick to respond, always on the ball, always involved, may be more likely to utilize and understand chatspeak. They’re the social butterfly of the group. It’s also a sign of a long-time internet lurker who’s aware of what the lingo is, and how to use it. A complete lack thereof points toward either an older user or someone who’s unused to social media.

The more memes, the harder someone is trying to fit in. Or maybe they’re easily amused or just absorbed things from their friends without thinking about it. The comedian of the group is going to know the best ways to use them.

Smilies and Emojis

:D D: :DDD // :3 3: >:3 :3c // :o :O O:<

These kinds of smilies have always struck me as the most friendly. Whether used in devious ways or with genuinely heartwarming intentions, the playful, lightheartedness of the user really shines through these.

It’s got just the right vibe to punctuate a sentence that’ll leave the reader feeling that the person likely means no harm or wants to be friendly, positive, or encouraging. I’ve met a lot of people that use these and turn out to be very kind or considerate people.

:), ;), ((((: and related

A long time positive, friendly smiley.

"You said you've known them a long time? I think they would understand. :)”

And yet these days I tend to associate it with passive aggressive statements, plotting, slyness, devious behavior, or anger. Older users may be inclined to use :) as a means to show their emotional state, but newer users seem more inclined to do the opposite. The more parentheses there are, the more upset the person, it seems.

“man don’t u love it when the power’s out in the middle of the night it’s just (((: really great thanks (((((:”

Then the ;) smiley comes off more specifically flirty and a bit playful. Doesn’t seem to change much there.

The bane of my teenage existence. It’s a more old school sign of laughter, rarely seen in today’s world due to falling out of favor and becoming associated with, “LOL Rawr XD Tacos I’m So Randoom,” culture. But time to time you do see it. Mostly with sarcasm but sometimes with genuine intentions.

A character using it genuinely comes off more playful, and to me, personally, as an older person who’s genuinely unaware of the associations with the smiley itself trying to show how they laughed without using LOL.

Letter/Character smilies

Y’know, things like .w. and ._. or owo, where the letters or symbols make a face. These are fairly popular, it seems. I don’t like using them myself, but know a few who do use them.

"I'm sorry that they can be mean qmq”

It’s a different feel from the others. There’s something soft to it, almost a gentleness. When these or Japanese characters are used, there’s more whimsy. It’s cute and almost a bit feminine. It may convey an open person or give the impression that said person is easier to talk to.

Though honestly I can’t see uwu and owo as anything but heavily sarcastic. I’ll be honest with you.

Emojis

The first rule of Xurkitips club is that we don’t talk about Emoji Movie. Just putting that out there riiight now.

Used sparingly by most for fun and for emphasis. Characters may use them to be lighthearted, aesthetically, joke, or to make a conversation more flavorful. The use of emojis may determine a character’s personality; I find that characters who use hand emojis like 👌 are rather laid back, those who use 🙃 do it passive aggressively, and we all know what kind of person uses 🍆.

Then there’s what in common terms known as, “The DudeBro”:

But its is!! Like I feel all sorts of excitement knowing its my first full comeback with those 8 beans omg like the teasers had me HYPED, I was loving the Halloween vibes but make it much earlier. The styling is perfection, so mv drops and ngl it left me feeling a bit unsure because I loved everything about the song like chorus was hands down my favorites and the raps were nice but the rest made me a bit unsure but you're talking to a sticker by nct fan so I can handle noise shiz. I had a feeling it would be like RTL by seventeen where it needed to grow and once I replayed maniac like 5 times, I was hooked by the 3rd listening and was "omg how could I hate this genius song!?" Because listening with my fancy headphones you can pick up the details more better plus reading the lyrics makes everything tie together like a bow ya know? The dance...dreamy LET ME TALK ABOUT THE DANCE!! (I am a fan of good dances hfhshs) the opening with minho on his back which then we move towards jeongin and the lil dino stompping moves and hans entire section and boom the chorus with the birds tweeting (which im sure is very intentional? Very Saturday morning cartoon vibes where you see a cartoon be hit on the head) and drill sound like chan legit said "support your hardware stores kids" xD I love the finger movements of the chorus where the twist it like a screw but their fingers are just, like bent to be like Frankenstein screws if that makes sense? And then it just goes wild with minho ending the song bznshd. So yeah maniac is a perfect title track, smh at my friend for not liking it *sigh* but oohh favorite track!? Dreamy that's hard to pick! I personally enjoyed all of the songs? None of them were skips to me, the album sounds great as you said, loving the emo vibes (which idk if I can say but I saw your selfie on thy other blog and uhh emo queen vibes yes!!) But if I had to pick today, I may have to say venom? Idk the spider like aesthetics in the chorus where it sounds like a spider walking is very much in the same vibe as hoshi's spider where it sounds like water dripping down the spiderweb hehehehe. I loved the vocal and rap unit songs like chef kiss stuff right there! Lonely st. Is if I wanna feel the feels and freeze gives me like old school vibes? Or at least to me of songs I remember being played at my school dances so feels nostalgic in a way?

So there was a mini rambling of how much I liked the album and comeback cx a wild one indeed timing wise but a good one still! It really doesn't feel like almost a year because everything feels longer but at the same time with how active I am in this fandom, everything is happening so fast I cannot keep up haha. Yet look at how much these beans have achieved like I may not be a long stay but boy do I feel proud, insert the Regina George mom bopping while recording meme right here that is me with skz. I loves them as cheesy as that sounds.

OH whats funny is i felt the same with rtl not because of the song but bro i hate the mv. so much (like the quality and coloring and stuff) that i also didnt like the song at first because of it, but since i stopped watching that lq mv i love it a lot lol, sometimes songs are just like that you have to really give it a full listen. i think (at least for me) im so hyped on the idea of a comeback sometimes my brain doesnt actually register the song well the first time i hear it cause im just all !!!!! inside (plus im usually like oh oh thats one shot for ___ to gif hehe through my first watch thru the cc brain rot is very real) and what you siad about the lyrics, even though ive LOVED every skz song that ive heard, i do always try my best to wait and read the lyrics before im like yes its a REALLY good song because you never know the song could be really poorly written, and some of us would have no idea lmao but at this point i do just outright trust 3racha and woozi to write amazing lyrics lol

THE DANCE god ok if theres another place i need to smash svt and skz together its always the dancing, im always DYING for choreo videos. the maniac choreo is SOOOOO good! and like lee minho is literally one of the most amazing dancers of all time, especially in kpop im not even a little surprised at his amount ofcenter time in this one, like the better the choreo the more i expect center minho because he just goes so hard and so perfect every dance!! and god yeah at the end where he just releases all of his stored energy to look absolutely CRAZYYYY is the best, like in everything skz does i am absolutely looking at chris all of the time except dancing like im sorry chris but minho is right there pls move i need to see exactly how the dance was meant to be done lmao.

i also definitely agree about venom the spiderweb sounds are SO cool, chris REALLY outdid himself with the “noise” aspect of their album this time. like he’s REALLLLLLy leaning into that “insult” and making the most amazing results out of it. i love that skz just does not care, and are like if youre going to insult us we’re going to get so much material out of this thanks :D its king behavior lmao

i hope we get some choreo for the other oddinary songs, like during tour or something because im dying to see what they do (especially with venom)

alsoooo how did you like darl+ing??? i think its really pretty, not my favorite thing svt has done. but i didnt expect something out of this world for their english song, and its not really getting promoted so im happy with what we got, i feel like english track are generally kind of throw way songs to groups, even if theyre really good lol BUT it does make me so excited for their comeback next month! im DYING to see what they do with this concept, im sure you saw im v excited about it lol
