An update from me that I have been brewing on for quite some time !

Hey guys, so I know that I have been almost completely gone from this fandom for about three months just after being so lucky to get to know and talking to some of you and even getting a bit back into writing!

The reason for this is luckily not a bad one, but is that I have been lucky enough to travel for three months, the first two living on a sailing boat with 7 other people and a dog, two of whom (and the dog) being friends I know from home who are sailing almost around the world and who invited me to join and the last month doing a roadtrip with in the US with another friend from home who went with me!

It’s been amazing and I feel so privileged to have been able to take time out my studies and (barely) afford to do this trip ! 🙏 but I have also been regretting that I have been so unable to join in on fandom activities and sending love to all the amazing fics and other creations that you guys have posted while I’ve been away! One trait for me is that I am already usually quite overwhelmed by life and stuff and so am notoriously bad at being two places at once and keeping in touch when a lot is going in my immediate surroundings! Luckily my friends and family are aware of this and are so good at bearing with me 😅 but I really have been so happy about being welcomed into this fandom and joining it for real and meeting and talking with you guys, so I wish that this amazing experience didn’t have to mean that immediately after just disappeared for three months !

Instead of trying the impossible task of completely catching up now that I am home with exams and an unestablished living situation or even knowing for sure whether I’m going to join my friends sailing again in a couple of months, I just wanted to let you know that even if I have been invisible I haven’t been completely away, more like I just regressed back to the lurking stage of fandom for a while🙃 wip Wednesday and seven sentence Sunday have helped keeping me on track of what day of the week it was, and I have loved keeping a bit up with fandom on those days and all your amazing creations have forced me to take shortlived breaks from everything going around me to read your snippets and fics and I’ve loved everything you’ve posted SO much, you’re seriously all so talented and me and everyone else is so lucky to have YOU share it in this fandom !!! Sorry I haven’t been able to give it all the love and appreciation it deserves !!

I also wanted to share with you that the US roadtrip started in Austin (!! :O) which was so exciting and I got this little Tarlos related souvenir:

We also passed by a AFD firehouse, which was super cool although I didn’t get to take a picture of it because stuff was happening all around me.

Anyway, I’m back, at least for being a little more visible and cheering and engaging although maybe not so much for writing - my tablet which I prefer to write on and where all my wip’s and ideas are on is packed away somewhere but maybe I’ll get it one of these days or try to manage without.. and also I’m staying with my parents, and due to them having just moved and medical stuff that happened while I was away, I’m helping them with the move and other projects in the house.

I still haven’t decided if I’m going away again - on the one hand, it’s an amazing opportunity, on the other hand I really want a stable and permanent place to live, to finish my studies in a normal, everyday life sort of way, and not least of all be able to set an hour or two aside to just engage with what I love and write and post and reblog and talk and all those things !!

Sorry for rambling, that’s my thing, and sorry for tagging you if you didn’t really wanna read through all my ramblings, it was just important to me for my update and explanation for being away and my appreciation for everything you’ve created and posted in the meantime to reach you guys but please don’t feel obligated to do anything with it🙃 I hope you all are doing well and thank you if you’ve actually reached this part of this long rambling post !

Hey Elise! I apologize if you’ve already answered this but I just found your blog (so hi! I love it!). But what are your hopes for season 2? Tarlos related and everyone related. Again if you already answer I’ll just scroll!

Helllllo!! I’m so glad to see you here! Welcome. I’ve answered it at least in passing (my tag season 2 expectations has some posts on this) but I don’t know that I’ve ever listed it straight out so here we go...

More information in general on Marjan, Paul, and Mateo because I feel like I barely know them. So in general I’d just like to see some personal storylines for them. And I’d like to see them behind just their identities ( DREAMer, Trans man, Muslim woman). I do want to see storylines related to these use ties (because you can’t detach those things from them) but I also want to see them deal with other things because they’re much more than those identities and surely attribute other important things to themselves so I’m interested to see how the show will balance those storylines.

More of Grace independent storylines where her issues are actually addressed and it all doesn’t revolve around Judd. More of who she is and what motivates her. I also love seeing her do her job and help people who call 911.

I’d like the show to at least show that Judd is not fully over his PTSD because even with therapy I don’t want it to just drop off. They can ease how often he has issues because that feels plausible but I don’t want them to just forget it.

Flashbacks! Maybe not like the ___ begins. But I do love a good flashback and seeing where characters came from.

I want Owen and TK to address some of their lingering issues because I don’t think that’s at all resolved because it seems to me they kind of push their issues away, and TK avoids it because of things like guilt and not wanting to hurt his father (who already has cancer) more while Owen went through a terrible trauma which clearly still impacts him in certain ways (which I guess is what I want to see from Judd too to show these things never just stop impacting people)

Carlos development and seeing him as a character outside of Michelle or TK. I also feel like I don’t know that much about him other than he’s a lovely man.

Domestic Tarlos is a dream of mine. Just want to see some tender moments and conversations separate from something purely dramatic.

I want to see Tarlos talking through issues. I do not like the idea of an in and off and back on again relationship that shows love to use for couples (that tend to be toxic). Please just let the relationship drama be normal couple stuff and not have them break up just because they get into a fight.

I hope to have a better Michelle storyline that gives us more into some new parts of her character because I feel like we didn’t see her outside of the Iris thing enough. Although, I wouldn’t be mad about more Iris in general I just don’t want it to overwhelm the story.

To see something happen with the Owen cancer storyline. I feel like it’s been glazed over a bit but at the same time, I’m not sure how they’re going to handle it or how I would want this to be handled because I have mixed feelings.

Some kind of addressing if TK’s mental health issues because I don’t think those have been resolved and I’d like to see maybe therapy or something to do with his addiction. I mean he really has some serious issues and they seem somewhat chronic so I’d like to see that continue into season two because his problems still feel very fresh. He too has been through a lot and was just shot so I want to see that emotional pain and him working through some things.

I want to see the characters being dynamic. I want to see them being multifaceted and reacting to various situations. Some of the characters are flat so far just because we haven’t seen enough of them. I want to see them be great but I also love seeing flaws (like Carlos needs flaws also Owen needs to be shown in maybe a light where he’s not always the hero and he has some darker moments because while we get glimpses that he’s not perfect, these complaints are often brushed aside because he’s a hero like with the convo with TK, so basically I’d like him to take accountability for some of his wrongs).

More team bonding!! I want to see them teasing and being there for each other. I want to see their relationships grow into deeper ones. We’ve taken a lot of good steps forward but I want to see more support and love. Perhaps even some friction that normal families would have.

BUTTERCUP. I’ve said this before (and I don’t really expect it) but an episode through Buttercup’s POV would be so cool.

More of the paramedics!! Because they’re pretty cool.

Lots of cool calls. And I’d like them to have that same dark humor that a lot of them did in season 1 because they had me laughing so much!

Cute Tarlos moments galore, showing them getting to know each other and growing as a couple and I also want vulnerable moments where we see them opening up to each other. COMMUNICATION in general is just so sexy and I love it.

Carlos making those dry, sexy comments would make me happy.

Some beautiful written scripts like the finale.

Lots of parallels. I loved how many season 1 had and I loved how cohesive many of the episodes were.

Great dialogue in general and diverse conversations between different combinations of characters.

I’d like some visually powerful scenes where actions and the setting and cinematography speak louder than words.

(Kind of like the one above) Subtlety... I love subtle moments that really tell a lot and hint at things without being explicit. I don’t want it to be completely in code or vague but moments of this is beautiful.

I don’t want the drama to be too overdone when it comes to the characters’ lives (though writers tend to be dramatic) so is like to see them dealing with common problems (which may feel huge and can be shown that wya through good writing and what these things mean to the characters). You don’t have to have a big explosion hurt a character to show a character going through stuff.

I like angst but not when it doesn’t lead to anything. So all angst should some how develop the characters because I love character development. I don’t want the characters to stay the same. I want to see that they change and adapt and ultimately grow even though they may make mistakes or relapse or backtrack.

From Public Relations, Patrick and David having a literary fight

“I just figured, this might be a good time to get to know you, and also what you think of the story. Of how our characters work together. That sort of thing. I know we won’t get the scripts until the read-through, but we do have the book…” Patrick shrugged. “Um, sort of self explanatory, isn’t it?” David’s features melted into a “no duh” gesture as he slid his omelette from skillet to plate. “During the first book Adam tricks Godrick the entire time into getting Wyndom’s scepter, allowing him to change reality and having everyone think Adam is the crown prince. He’s a trickster.” David cocked his head to the side. “Although, admittedly, a very good redemption arc.” Patrick blinked, his smile growing in astonishment. “Wait, wait, wait. Did you just finish the first book recently? Cause that is not what happens at all.” He interrupted before David could get a word in edgewise. “Adam is being controlled by the ruby necklace he stole from Queen Luna and because Wyndom cursed the necklace to corrupt anyone who will ever steal it, that’s why he changes reality.”  “Is it?” David almost wanted to add an “Oh, honey,” to the end of his sentence. “ If you remember, V. R. Lee introduced Adam constantly being envious of the royal family and their abundant wealth. The motivation was already there, he didn’t need some necklace to ‘corrupt’ him.” He took a bite out of his omelette. Ever since he learned how to fold in cheese, he’s been making omelettes like a champ. Perhaps he should ask Stevie if she can get him a food network show he can host on the side. “Adam is poor! He had to learn to be a thief! What are you not getting?”  “I’m getting everything actually, it’s you who seems to be missing the point.” David put the last bite of his omelette in his mouth, staring at his plate mournfully. Instead he took the second coffee Patrick brought for him and took a sip from that cup.

The only greeting he gets is a raised eyebrow and a scoff. TK brushes past him into the loft and looks around, pointedly ignoring all the decoration Carlos worked hard on during his time moving himself in. TK finds the hoodie behind an end table where Carlos must have thrown it when he took it off. “Got it, thanks.” And this - this isn’t how Carlos wants things to end. Things with TK can’t be just random occurrences at work where they pretend to ignore each other or clipped tones of trying to be civil. It can’t be one of them coming over to get a fucking hoodie for two seconds before leaving to go out and have fun somewhere else. As much as TK may put up a tough front of not caring about what happened between them, he knows that’s all bullshit. Carlos only has to get TK to admit it. Before he realizes what he’s doing, Carlos takes hold of TK’s bicep, stopping him from taking another step. “That’s it? That’s all you have to say?” “What else is there to say?” TK’s body inflates. All the posturing he’s put up for Carlos suddenly leaves him without a fight.

and something from a wip that I've been rereading - my demon!buck/angel!Eddie one

Eddie confronts him about it at the gym station. Making sure no prying humans are within earshot. “What’s a demon like you doing here?”

If there is a way to punch him without also hurting Bobby, Buck would. “Helping.”

Eddie purses his lips. Half in concentration on keeping his rep count, half in displeasure at Buck’s answer. “Helping. How does a demon help people? You’re a temptor, right?” At Buck’s sharp nod, Eddie continues. “So am I supposed to expect a lot of arson around here or something?”

“That’s not how that works.”

“Then educate me. How does your power work?”

Technically, Buck can tempt the divine or damned. It takes a lot of effort and a lot of strength. But he’s done it before. And he’s feeling a little petty and vengeful at the thought of an angel being here in Buck’s territory. So he might as well do it. He’ll most likely be drained by the end of it – but it’ll be worth it. 

He peers into Eddie’s mind, into his wants and desires. He sees…a lego set? Some new lego set that just came out. Someone in Eddie’s life really wants it and Eddie is debating on splurging to make this person happy. But money is tight right now so he has to decide between getting the lego set or paying bills… Logically he knows he should pay bills. But this person has been through so much shit already and this lego set would really make him happy. Eddie should just get the lego set. Another month without cable really wouldn’t hurt-

Eddie gasps. “How did you do that?”

Buck feels cold sweat trickle down his face and back. He doesn’t need to look at Eddie to know he’s been tempted. Whoever that person is, they’re getting their lego set. It’s a small temptation, but the fact he’s tempted an angel will feed him for weeks. 

“You wanted to see how my power works. You got your answer.”

I don't want to say never finish, just hibernate.

15. What are your writing strengths?

I have really good ideas, and I'm really good at writing dialogue.

16. What are your writing weaknesses?

Procrastination. (One of my goals this year is to at least write 100 words a day. Just to get in the habit of writing more, and with a low word count so on days I don't feel like doing it, I feel less pressure). Also inner voice and scene description. Although I feel like I'm getting better at that lately.

17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

A bit nervous. I mean, I am learning spanish on duolingo, but I would feel a lot better if I had a native speaker to varify that my dialogue is correct and makes sense. However, I'm not opposed to doing it if it makes sense to the fic itself.

iCarly, back when I was 11.

Joe/Nicky from The Old Guard and Percabeth. Although I don't have any fic ideas for them.

Top two contenders for favorite fic are yes i know that he's my ex, Public Relations, and Let's Play a Game (Spies Are Forever, E)

yes i know he's my ex - it's my first angsty fic, and i worked really hard on getting the tone right for this fic. it's set during Tarlos' break up, yet they're having sex in this fic and it doesn't end with them getting back together. so i wanted to focus on their mixed emotions of being together yet knowing it's just a one time thing. and thankfully everyone who commented said i pulled it off!

Public Relations - my first multichap fic. throughout my time writing, i've always scrapped projects and went on to something new or just abandoning it. so this proved that i could finishing something and stick with it. i was really proud that i could accomplish that, and write something that ended up being almost 40k words! not a huge word count for some fic authors, but a huge accomplishment for me :D

Let's Play a Game - my first fic into fandoms! (on this account, lol) When I watched Spies Are Forever, I needed more, and sadly the fandom is pretty small, so I decided to write a fic for it! This was originally going to be a multichap fic, however I kept getting icked out that Agent Curt Mega's name was the same name as the actor who played him, so this just ended up being a pwp. However, this did get me back into writing so it still lives in a special place in my heart.
