so in episode 1 of tales. where did vaughn and rhys get the handcuffs. huh.
did they just. have them??? did vaughn just come out of his room like "ok rhys im ready for pandora!!" and he randomly handcuffed the briefcase to his wrist and rhys was like "???? where did you get thos" and vaughn interrupts like "OK RHYS IT SEEMS LIKE WE'RE READY!!! LETS GO DOWN TO PANDORA TO MAKE THAT DEAL. NO TIME TO KEEP TALKING ABOUT THIS"
or like. did rhys have them. did he see vaughn holding the briefcase of money and go "hm. he needs a bit if freakiness to his fit" and just. put vaughn in cuffs??
how did they decide who would be cuffed to the money. because rhys seems like. the infinitely better option here
i mean. come on. rhys has a super strong robot arm and also isnt so small and lightweight that he'd blow away in a breeze, like vaughn would

yall are free to interpret the character relationships in my posts however makes you happiest , hell i even encourage it !! but just to clarify— most of my posts arent intended to be ship posts and if its not explicitly obvious in the post or if youre wondering if a post is a ship or not , its better to assume that its not . ( not to say all of them are not ship posts bc the natsumugi ones for example definitely are , but like . the majority arent . i really dont have many ships . you know ? )

kinda tired of always seeing the "waaah Zelda lore and the timeline is so confusing/messy!!"
not really!! you're just inattentive !!
A lot of the connections are either directly stated in the games (Like LoZ 1 and 2. OoT, MM, TP, and WW. WW, PH, and ST, etc) or through meta connections (like how to avoid religious references, Triforce of the Gods was renamed to A Link to the Past because it was written to take place before the events of Zelda 1 and 2 and then A Link Between Worlds getting the name Triforce of the Gods 2 in Japan cause it is a distant sequel to ALttP). Like come on y'all, just pay attention. A full timeline could be formed without looking at the official one ONLY using information in the games and chances are you'd be mostly right.
"Oooah!! but Ganon??!! how does he keep coming back??" Literally always gets explained in games. OoT was his first appearance, Adult timeline: he is sealed away in OoT. breakes free of said seal using the Triforce of Power between OoT and WW (literally stated in the prologue of WW). He is then killed in WW. Child Timeline: OoT is prevented by Link being sent back in time (which we see at the fucking end of OoT) sealed in the Twilight Realm, killed in Twilight Princess. Downfall Timeline, sealed in the Sacred Realm during the sealing war, breaks free of seal in ALttP, killed in ALttP, resurrected in the Oracle games, terrorizes Hyrule in ALBW and LoZ1 and is killed in LoZ 1 like FUCK it is literally shown in the events of the damn games. pay attention!!
Half the shit I see that you all are confused about is due to your own misunderstandings, either cause you didn't understand what was being said or because you just missed it and came up with some interpretation so off base that of course it would confuse you when trying to fit it into the series at large. And half of these misunderstandings wouldn't even be a thing if yall were open to being wrong and changing your interpretation. but alas that's not what we see, instead you blame the games.
No, most of the Ganon appearances aren't different Ganons. they're all OoT Ganon(dorf) EXCEPT FSA Ganondorf cause OoT Ganondorf is killed in and isn't resurrected but rather reincarnated (as FSA Ganondorf). FSA and its manual even states how Shadow Link is created from the Dark Mirror giving form to FSA Ganon's hatred of a Link who killed him in a past life. Of course it has to be after one of the times OoT Ganondorf is killed for good like how are you all stumbling over this??
No, Zelda doesn't get reincarnated unlike Link. All Zelda's are descendants from each other, but they're not the same person or soul.
NO not all Zelda's are incarnations of Hylia, ONLY SKYWARD SWORD ZELDA IS! They share a blood connection to her through SS Zelda, but they themselves are not Hylia.
No, Twilight Princess isn't a Wind Waker retcon idk how anyone is even coming to that conclusion?? Zelda in OoT makes it VERY clear that Link being sent back seven years and closing the door of time will separate the past and future of OoT, meaning that whatever he does in the past (the child era) won't affect the future already created (the adult era). like this is dialogue said in OoT, read what is being said I'm BEGGING you.
While we're talking about the timeline split...
The Downfall Timeline makes complete sense. Do I think it was what they intended when writing OoT? No. Definitely not. I don't even think they conceptualized it until 2002 or so. But its clear that once they wrote Wind Waker that they realized that the story of the Sealing War matches OoT better (which if you remember, OoT is meant to tell the story leading up to the Sealing War.) in a timeline where Link fails to stop Ganondorf. Otherwise Wind Waker and Twilight Princess wouldn't have been written to explicitly follow the adult and child endings of OoT. As the prologue of ALttP states, Ganondorf entered the Sacred Realm, raged war against Hyrule, becomes the Demon King Ganon using the complete Triforce and was sealed away in the Sacred Realm by the Seven Sages. That doesn't line up with either of the endings we explicitly see in OoT but it sure as hell lines up with what Ganondorf said he'd do if you lose the fight at the top of Ganon's Tower. Yall act like the downfall timeline is some massive horrible failure of writing when its really just the most logical conclusion of what is presented in the games. Never in OoT does Ganondorf obtain the full Triforce. his whole goal in the second half is to kill Link and take the Triforce from him and Zelda. The Seven Sages are there to seal him away, the Sacred Realm is open and has been corrupted by Ganondorf's influence. Hyrule was been ravaged by war. Ganondorf hasn't transformed into the Demon King Ganon yet. Almost everything lines up for the Sealing War, Link just needs to die for it to 100% work because Ganondorf doesn't have the complete Triforce. And he won't get the full Triforce if you win against him. How are you gonna argue that it makes more sense and matches ALttP better if Link wins?
And I've seen way too many people calling TotK a BotW retcon cause of Ganondorf's existence?? Even saw one guy on twitter somehow under the impression that TotK was a prequel? as of the entire game hasn't been advertised as taking place 5+ years after BotW? As if the Castle and Castle Town isn't in ruin? All because Ganondorf is there in human form? Guys, Calamity Ganon is nothing more than Ganondorf's power and hatred leaking from his body as he and Rauru rot underground. Calamity Ganon is essentially the physical embodiment of TotK Ganondorf's goals enacting his will while he remains imprisoned. This is made so clear in his in-game character profile, which also makes it clear that he only broke free of Rauru's seal on him due to the extreme earthquakes and damage that the Calamity caused. It was also fucking obvious ever since the 2019 trailer. This was spoonfed to us and some of yall still missed it? Seriously?
The ONLY extreme oddity in the overarching lore is how BotW and TotK fit in beyond "it's at the end", but even that has a few solid possibilities and isn't anywhere near as egregious as people want to make it out to be. You all want to talk about how you love theorizing and shit but are completely incapable of having a theory deeper than "botw/totk Link and Zelda are romantically involved!!!!"
(^not a dig at zelink at all, I'm just saying that a lot of you so called theorists only try your hand at "theories" that are so strongly implied that they're practically canon rather than trying to solve actual mysteries and questions. you don't want to do any research into the lore and try to piece shit together. something will be even the smallest bit ambiguous and you all tap out)
There's more but fuck I'm not looking to scour the internet to disprove every damn misconception and mistake.
Do I think they planned everything since the beginning? of fucking course not. this is a series with 20 canon games at this point and more on the way. there is absolutely no chance all of this was conceptualized 37 years ago. All im saying is that the overarching lore and connections that have been weaved over the course of nearly four decades isn't the clusterfuck that a lot of you try to paint it as.

I was thinking about your repost of warnings and being more inclusive to a variety of bodies in ff. Something that pulls me out of a fic so often is hairstyle descriptions. This obviously isn't the same as not being inclusive of different body shapes/sizes or readers of color, but to me its often really gratingly pushes white cishet traditional gender presentation. Like...not all women have long hair (which is my thing) or can have white girl hairstyles. Like why do you have to write about long flowy hair and messy buns so much? This is already really irritating as a person with short hair which is a much smaller deal than physical things you can't change. And I keep thinking that a lot of this language is probably also really alienating to pocs with curly hair. So....ugh!
I really appreciate you being vocal on this topic and I love your blog and your writing so much!
Hair is another one I catch all the time!!! I'm a white woman with loose, wavy curls but I keep my hair short. It's actually short enough that I can't really put it up right now, and while I love the idea of having long beautiful hair, it's just never been something I've been able to achieve because the maintenance alone drives me nuts. And I still have enough hair that it could be grabbed or played with. This is not going to be the same experience a person of color with curls might have!!
It's something that is so frequently overlooked. It's one thing if it's just a line like "He noses at the nape of your neck and smells your hair," because even a person with with a tight textured curl at any length will still have hair to smell, right? And with smut scenes involving hair pulling as a warning, like, I can suspend my disbelief because there's likely an element of fantasy involved. And then there's the matter of reader-insert characters that are explicitly written as POC which!! That's amazing! These characters are written with these traits in mind and that representation is so incredibly important, especially in a fandom that celebrates Korean men while also having a huge issue with white washing.
When it comes to a reader-insert that's intended as neutral, it just seems disingenuous to assume that everyone has long white girl hair that is easily thrown up into a bun at the end of the day. It bothers me in the same way that descriptions of super skimpy clothing do; it's just clear that the writer doesn't really care to have an eye for inclusivity, whether by willful ignorance or by coincidence.
And again, there are points where I can suspend my disbelief! Sometimes the reading experience is immersive enough that I don't even notice, or maybe the character is very specific and those are moments where the character writing is strong enough that I'm just stepping into their experience of the story. But ... there's an intent there. Not every writer approaches things as such, and with that in mind I think we have to approach the convention of a reader-insert character in a different way.
I often feel like I'm talking to the air about this stuff, so I really appreciate you reaching out. Seriously. I think this really important and it doesn't get the attention it needs. Folks will talk openly about the problems, but I don't often see action or change taking place within work. Effecting these changes can be difficult for some writers because they can be so set in their ways, and that's frustrating. They want the fantasy of it all, rather than showing people that it's okay to be desired as they are. I think this is disingenuous; if you want feedback and praise, writing your "fantasies" with more people in mind would probably get more feedback, right? idk, I'm just rambling again at this point 🙃
Anyway, again, I'm really glad yall are reaching out about this!! I'm happy you're enjoying my stories and reading my thoughts :)

Thinspo/pro mia/pro ana blogs leave me alone. I will report your posts and block you.

Ahh okie!! Tbh I wanted to interact with you a lot earlier but I was always kinda intimidated by you cause you seemed like the type of person that's v cold and intimidating to strangers but vv sweet and nice to ppl you're close to and I wasn't sure if I'd be accepted
ʕ-᷅ᴥ-᷄ʔ but I guess I was wrong hehe. Andd just out of curiousity (did I spell that right lmao) what's your opinion on minors interacting with 18+ content on tumblr?? I'm asking cause it's smth I've been curious abt (from a content creator's pov) but anyway have a good day! Hehe
I-i come off as cold to strangers? Oh dear 😟
Tumblr media
*weak wheeze* whY?
Also. I've expressed my thoughts on this several times but I dont mind discussing. Its a bit long and its 3am and jumbled thoughts but I'll put them under a cut . I also focus on writers, but honestly this is for all content creators, bc nsfw artists have the same issues
The reality is, a lot of us go through a form of sexual awakening/exploration and more often then not, it starts when we're in our teens after puberty. So I don't FAULT minors for seeing out these things, its natural and it'd be hypocritical of me to stand on a soapbox and lecture a minor when I've been watching porn and reading/writing smut since i was before 18 myself.
However.
There's an increasing issue I'm seeing when it comes to people understanding basic boundaries and consent.
While I don't fault a minor for wanting to read 18+ content and the like, there's this culture of underaged peoples lying about their ages to 18+ nsfw content creators in order to interact with them/get into the 18+ spaces they create.
Ive had this happen to me at least 5 times alone since I've made this blog. That's not okay.
There are writers out there that explicitly state that they dont want minors even reading or interacting with their smut works or blogs at all. They, as adults, have every right to do this. They have every right to curate their spaces so that it is only 18+ people interacting with their works/blog as a whole.
There are writers like me who don't try to police who interacts with their works, but ask for the bare minimum that minors do not send them nsfw asks, comments, replies, etc.
These are boundaries that each writer sets and they completely go out of the window when the minors that follow us decide "this sign wont stop me, i can't read" with the boundaries we clearly set.
That is a direct violation of someone's consent. I need people to realize this behavior is predatory.
Just like how it's creepy and wrong and sus for adults to knowingly have inappropriate nsfw conversations with minors, and how we can all agree its predatory in nature, it works in the opposite direction in my opinion, as well.
To carelessly ignore an adult setting these proper boundaries and weasel your way into a space intended for other adults is toxic, predatory, and something that has the potential for legal repercussions against the adults in this situation, even if they didn't know
Its such a problem and I've seen it not only with myself, but fellow writers, and even writing nets having minors lying to slip into spaces not intended for them.
I went on a tangent and honestly I can say so much more about this, but at the end of the day I really feel like there's no inherent harm in being curious and wanting to read nsfw works as a minor, however, if theres an author who's explicitly stated they dont want you reading their works if you're -17, dont want nsfw convos or interactions with people who are -17, etc, the minors on this app really need to learn to respect that.
That, and 18+ writers on here need to stop knowingly and willingly kekeing and having these inappropriate interactions with users on here they know are -17. (The royal) yall should fucking know better and I see some of yall.
There needs to be a long winded conversation about consent and respecting boundaries with this kind-of thing, but yea those are some of my 3am thoughts on it

It’s not leeching my man, that’s what parallels are? Links between one thing and another to show the similarities. Also please don’t tell me you think cishet is a slur or something. ‘sides, I don’t think many bb shippers think bs was never romantic, just that it’s not romantic anymore. The cishet dudes also work with a crew that has many wlw on it, so that argument seems redundant to me too
They’re reaches is what they are, because you eliminate key context that differentiates the actual romantic tone of the het ships from what BB actually gets. Ren and Nora were alone and the handhold was done for sole sake of physical contact, and they alrwady have a history where Nora has suspiciously specific denial of them being a couple which makes her feelings for him flagrant, and she reacts by placing her head on his shoulder. BB have a handhold to ease Yangs PSTD shakes and stand together against Adam’s taunts, and again in comfort after Adam’s killed, joined by Ruby no less, surrounded by the rest of the squad.
Its one hell of a reach, silly and desperate to claim Eclipse isn’t romantic anymore just because Sun went to Vacuo and Yang is back. There was nothing within their interactions in the Menagerie arc to suggest their relationship is a negative impact, in fact Blake comes to thank Sun for being as stubborn as he is in trying to help. You’re so desperate to place him in a “friendzone” category to get him out of the way you lose sight of the fact that yes, they ARE friends in that they aren’t officially a couple yet, but nowhere does that mean they don’t have a mutual romantic interest which has been established as such explicitly from Volume 3 the moment Blake blushes at his wink and point (this is if you don’t take her going with him to the dance in Vol 2 as evidence enough). Because guess what, Blake and Yang are friends too and not together either but that ain’t stopping yall from swearing they’re in love despite having much less actual tangible evidence. What they went through in Menagerie only makes their relationship stronger, it makes for a better love story BECAUSE Sun isn’t doing it for sole purpose of winning her over but because he’s just a genuine dude that looks out for the people he cares for whether they want his help or not and Blake comes to be so used to his presence she’s reluctant to let him leave. They go through all the typical romantic “meet the parents” tropes imaginable but we’re meant to believe its all one big red herring and the moment he has time away from Blake and Yang is back, despite the baggage in their friendship alone, that this is where the actual intended romance is despite their inability to actually deal with their internal conflict upfront? Nah just brush it aside until they gotta stand up against Adam and they can “fall in love” while Blake is dealing with the grief of his death.
This is where we get to the actual context of Sun’s “it was never about that”: he wasn’t going to try to take advantage of Blake’s vulnerability while she’s busy trying to reconcile with her parents, stop the white fang, and ultimately reconnect with her team and deal with what they find out about the whole Salem/relic situation, by making it about them getting together. At the same time we see that Blake warms up to him greatly in spite of him not aggressively pursuing her. But yall turn around and use that to try to write him off and in the same breath make Blake’s grief over Adam as a springboard for her and Yang to realize love for each other after a half assed reunion and just barely reconciling their friendship, using “representation matters” to fluff it all up. Its hypocritical.

how dare you post things other than lesbian merch...ik theres far more identities but im lesbian and so you need to explicitly post lesbian things despite always being a diverse shopping blog../s im sorry you have to deal with people like that its really ridiculous
I mean requests to post more lesbian stuff is a valid request! it’s just that there’s very few real requests to post lesbian stuff, instead it’s comments belittling shops. but gee how dare I block comments that clearly show no interest in trying to understand why x costs this amount, why x is a stretchgoal on a kickstarter, why can’t shops afford to create x thing that doesn’t get purchased a lot, etc… But yea sure just throw fits instead about how I hate lesbians instead of addressing how much you completely don’t care about small businesses whose owners are often young, poor, mentally ill, disabled, lgbtq+, poc, etc.. and you never actually intended on purchasing something in the first place
idk how many more disclaimers I can put that I don’t make the content I just share whatever’s aesthetically pleasing to me and sometimes even I’m not included i just post whatevers pretty and shiny. anyways like i said if yall want more lesbian content you can submit your favorite lesbian item from a shop and I can post it (depending on if i posted it or not). i also take recommendations for lesbian owned shops. bonus points if they’re a black owned shop, as this month i’m trying to focus on black owned businesses.
thank you!

Hi! I was wondering, what are some examples of lesbian-coded characters in fiction? Whenever i've seen posts about gay-coded characters it's usually about male gay-coded characters, which is good! They deserve to be talked about! But I was wondering who some gay-coded female characters are.
generally speaking when people talk about “gay coded” characters in fiction its from older media during a time when it was actually illegal to show gay characters having happy endings. the bury your gays trope didnt just show up one day, it happened because for a period of time the only way producers were allowed to show gay characters was either if one or both of them died, they became heterosexual at the end, or they had otherwise unhappy endings in an attempt to discourage The Youths from being gay (side note here: making gay characters die doesnt mean fewer people irl are gay its just means they have no positive role models but uh i think we all know that here)
that meant that if directors or producers wanted to represnt gay people with happy endings, they would have to code the character as gay, but not explicitly say they were gay. most of the time this was done with whatever gay stereotypes pervaded at the time - in early hollywood that would be things like having the women smoke and work, the men would be more effeminate, etc. if that was too obvious, it would be “independent women” or men who werent interested in dating.
as a result we dont necessarily get “gay coded” characters today like we used to, because censorship laws no longer prevent displaying gay characters in a positive light. if producers and writers want a gay character, they can just put in a gay character, and there are no rules about how that characters story has to end, although most writers and directors still choose to kill of the gay characters because theyre homophobes but thats a story for a different time
but “gay coding” hasnt necessarily gone away, either, because gay characters are still considered “mature” and cant really be shown in childrens tv shows, books, or movies without outrage from homophobes. so in a way, gay coding does still exist, just on a different level.
i dont really read or watch a lot of media from periods of time where gay characters were required to be portrayed negatively, so i cant really think of any off the top of my head. as far as characters that were gay coded in modern tv shows, janice ian from mean girls was gay coded (tina fey chose not to condemn lebophobic bullying by throwing janice into a shoehorned hetero romance at the end that makes no sense instead of letting janice be the lesbian she was born to be), i have never seen bend it like beckham but everyone talks about all the gay subtext in that, i think velma from scooby doo was actually going to be a lesbian but there was too much controversy over that so they made her straight but she was still gay coded imo, a lot of people see miss honey from matilda as gay coded
for the most part, i think most of the “gay coding” people talk about in modern media doesnt actually fit the technical definition of “gay coding” which was a system set up to defy to censorship laws by deliberately having characters flag as gay without forcing them to have unhappy endings. most of what we call “gay coding” today is not intentional by the writers (who will almost always adamantly defend the heterosexuality of their characters) but is instead an interpretation by the viewers, which doesnt necessarily decrease the value of the characters, but it does show authors true colors when they get very upset about their viewers interpreting the characters differently than the writers intended (im sure yall saw the supergirl debacle thing, it was all over my dash)
it does, to me, show an interesting disconnect between straight people and understanding the gay experience, however, for example, many lesbians see twilight and relate to bella heavily (bc shes a lesbian lol), mostly because bella’s experiences and emotions often match up very similarly to their own. while stephanie meyer will defend the Pure Heterosexuality of her precious characters, it doesnt change the fact that there are a lot of points in the twilight series that are very typical to lesbians experiencing lots of internalized lesbophobia: bella was never interested in dating until some Magical Unattainable boy came up, who then became Less Unattainable, who was Unlike Other Men, whose abusive behaviors she (unknowingly) misinterpretted for love, when in reality she confused her desire for male approval because of her father’s poor parenting that she got through edward as actual romantic love. the female characters she did connect to (alice, angelina, even rosalie if you look closely, wow im remembering more of these names than i thought i would) were all much healthier relationships, and in some ways closer than most friendships tend to be (if you interpret it that way) in the same way many lesbians confused romantic love for platonic love for their friends. when viewed through that lense, seeing bella as a lesbian who hasnt come to term with her lesbianism yet due to being abused as a child and having an abusive boyfriend, it makes a lot more sense than “she met a hot vampire dude who thinks shes great for some reason and now she wants to bone him.” but since stephanie is a shitty writer who doesnt understand the lesbian experience, she will refuse to see it that way and instead protest that no, it really is just a super elaborate love story, not that she doesnt know how to write romance and that she accidentally created a closeted lesbian character in an abusive relationship.
anyway wow sorry for this essay im supposed to be reading my physics textbook now which is why i psychoanalyzed twilight there for a hot second but anyway u didnt really ask for this but thats my hot take for the day

wrt your post on davekat shippers: thats like... really insightful holy shit. because i love karkat as an individual character, but come to think of it whenever i think about davekat, i dave-orient it because thats just the content im used to i guess? but, karkat has his individual problems he needs help working through, his own part in the relationship, all sorts of dynamics everyone brushes over. anyways just giving thanks because its good to remember when im writin :0
omg i was so nervous when i first opened this bc i was worried i was like .. way more unkind in my original post than i remembered being and had this brief instantaneous thought of like ….@ Me Calm Down
now i wish i had taken the time to like … articulate myself better instead of just venting but i guess i could just do that in this reply instead
tbh i have that exact same problem where i consider their relationship dynamic from dave’s perspective by default, and i think thats probably common, especially since he is SUCH a big fave and his chara dev, thought process / perspective, Emotions And Feelings were right up at front.  like, it’s fair that he’s not the only one and i think those logs were good ones to have, but i also believe that like .. proportionally speaking .. he got an unfair amount of attention compared to Literally Everyone Else Present (which i wouldnt want to take away, i just wish there was more to go around for everyone else)
what i think happened, because of this, is that there was a big shift in people’s perceptions of dave  (i seriously swear to god im not vaguing anyone in particular this really is just my like … thoughts and feelings and whatever)  which basically solidified a general trend that his character had already been headed towards, of  “way way soft with plenty of emotions and actually needs a lot of care & support” etc.  like compare 2016 dave strider with like … 2012 dave strider.  it’s truly Somethin Else
and this is not a bad thing!  but it’s just so prominent right before the ending, it’s incredibly easy to be like “this chara whomst i adore deserves so much love and support, and like … what a coincidence … his loving bug husband is Right There …. Thank Goodness”
the only thing about this that bothers me is that a lotta content just stays right there, and the fact that karkat can help him implicitly feels like the most significant thing about their relationship, even if that’s not what was intended, to me it feels like that’s what happened, though gradually
i guess the implication that dave strider is Ptsd Georg relative to the rest of the cast w their own massive fuckign problems that they also deserve love&support with is … like …. idk man it just feels unfair.  and i always think back to the GO timeline conversation karkat and dave had (that one) where dave like .. fell ass-backwards into talking him thru his Anxiety & Assorted Pessimisms and im like … wheres THAT ? give me more of THIS please, …. despite my salt i actually love those assholes so much & like .. idk i truly yearn for content where they Explicitly Clearly Both support each other thru their like trauma and neuroses and shit.  in their own slapdash jackass ways obviously
(TANGENTIALLY RELATED: i promise yall that karkat is supposed to be funny as hell … Make Karkat A Genuinely Clever Piece Of Gargbagt Again … manifests in the clouds like an ominous mufasa apparition REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE. A SMARMY GOTTAMN SHITHEAD)
also tangentially related: @fourthreetwofuckyou combat me right now
