Hera’s body, inspired by this joke post.
I mean, these headcanons don’t necessarily reflect the bodies of the face claims I’ve chosen, which is… unfortunate, but. What can you do? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
(also im so sorry if i use really loaded language, im still learning how to talk about bodies w/o phrasing things in really grossbad ways)

Hera: I've come to offer you some friendly advice.
Demeter: I don't want your advice.
Hera: Well then, consider it unfriendly advice.

detailed writer prompts | accepting.
let’s say someone else was going to write your character - what are the main points of their personality that you would tell the other writer to focus on? what about outside of that? images/symbols/moments in their life/etc.
Tumblr media
I guess that depends on whether we’re talking about my personal interpretation of Hera vs a general interpretation of Hera lol
In general with Hera, I would say that you need to remember that she exists outside of her relationship with Zeus.  He informs quite a bit of her character, but she isn’t a satellite moon that orbits around him, y’know?  She isn’t a tertiary figure of her own life.  Don’t do that, whether you’re writing her or writing against her.  Hera roleplayers get irritated af with what nonsense.
Hera is a woman of extremes, capable of enormous generosity (the cuckoo she nurtured, her aid to some heroes, etc.) and unspeakable cruelty (against dionysus and heracles especially, but also what she did to leto) and one shouldn’t negate the other.  Both can exist in the same being, especially one as huge as Hera is.  Even as a woman of extremes, Hera rarely storms in and fucks shit up.
It’s not that she isn’t capable of it, she just has a preference for delegating tasks and fucking with your feelings and making you fuck up your own life—not that you can be blamed, since she’s sort of puppetteering you to begin with.  Think of the spider in the middle of her web:  everything’s already set up, she’s just waiting for you to get trapped, for you to seal your own fate with your struggle.
To me that says that she’s empathetic—not all empaths are good empaths, folks, or wholly good and never bad—and that she’s calculating, and that she’s capable of looking at the big picture.  Not that she can’t get swamped by petty details or self-sabotage herself, but she definitely has the capacity to think and act as Big as she is.  It tells me that she’s capable of letting go and allowing others to do what they’re good at, as long as what they’re doing doesn’t go against her wishes.
As for important moments in her life:  things that I think can add a lot of weight to an interpretation of Hera—outside of the Titanomachy, which should be a no-brainer, or the various myths of her being fostered—include her Argive stories (Poseidon and Hera fought over dominion, the three rivers chose Hera, and that sets some UNFORTUNATE AF implications for Zeus fucking Io), and that of the Daidala or the marital separation and reconciliation of Hera and Zeus.
All of these form the backbone to my canon grounding of Hera:  someone who comes from a background of generational abuse, who didn’t know a lot of stability in her youth, who feels passionately about what is hers, but who has the courage to strike out on her own if she thinks she’s being devalued.  (And yet, ultimately, is drawn back into the cycle she’s familiar with, because love is something big and monstrous.)
